Read up on the full list of patch notes here:

Gameplay Updates

Substantial reduction to fake-outs for user controlled defenders when defending ball carrier special moves

Slight reduction to fake-outs for AI controlled defenders when defending ball carrier special moves

Addressed an issue that was causing some AI controlled ball carriers to move slowly and/or not perform special moves

Tuned to decrease range of width on kickoffs to address the kickoff exploit that could force returners out of bounds inside their own five-yard line

Developer Note: Players have given us feedback that they’d like more control when clicked-on to a defender in pursuit. We wanted to provide more opportunities for both user-controlled and AI-controlled defenders to make tackles vs. jukes and spins.

What do you want to see from Madden 18 this year? Let us know.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition Update to Tweak All 28 Characters, Patch Notes Reveal

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is set to launch on January 16, and while we’ve already been given a good look at the new features here and here, we haven’t been presented with any patch notes… Until now, that is!

Capcom has shared the “general” changes coming to the game, as well as character balance tweaks. Warning: All 28 characters have been tuned, so prepare yourself for potential main nerfs!

Here’s the full list of patch notes listed under “general”:

GENERAL

Training Mode Options

In the Attack Data display, you can now view each action’s frame data.

You can now turn on Frame Advantage in Color to determine when each action has advantage.

If the character is in blue, they have advantage. If they’re in red, they have disadvantage. Take a look at the example below.

Fighter ID and Home Change

As of January 16, you will be able to change your Fighter ID (FID) and Home (flag) using either 200K Fight Money or MSRP $9.99 in the store.

One purchase of the “Fighter ID & Home Change” ticket will allow you one access opportunity where you can change your FID and Home once.

Even if you change only the FID or only the Home during this access, it will still consume the ticket and count as an instance. So if you want to change both, please change them at this time.

All items purchased from the in-game shop and/or the PlayStation Store and/or the Steam Store as well as play data will not be affected when changing your FID and/or Home.

Updated FID and Home flag will not be reflected in some portion of the game such as previous play history (e.g. Battle Log, Replay Data, etc.)

Please be aware that selecting a Home has no bearing on matchmaking.

Grand Master Rank

The Grand Master Rank is now available for players who have League Points of over 35,000.

Overall Balancing

Increased active frames for Regular Throws from 2F to 3F

Increased combo scaling for combos that include a V-Trigger activation

Increased recovery for Command Throws

Made revisions to the hurtboxes for jumping attacks, and to the normal moves that are primarily used as anti-airs

Changed properties of moves that change the position of the character, which may affect certain combos

For the enormous list of character tweaks, it’s probably best for you to head on over here.

Fortnite Update Nerfs Boogie Bomb, Increases Footstep Volume & More

A new Fortnite update is rolling out across all platforms. Update V.2.1.0 patches up “a number of issues,” and includes a “number of quality of life improvements.”

Battle Royale players will be happy (or sad, I guess) to hear that the Boogie Bomb has received a nerf, to make it less unstoppable. What’s more, footstep volume has been increased, making it easier to track enemies.

The “Cozy Campire” also makes its way into Battle Royale. This healing trap heals 2 HP per second and lasts for 25 seconds.

Here’s the full list of patch notes for both Battle Royale and Save the World:

PATCH NOTES – BATTLE ROYALE

WEAPONS

The Boogie Bomb dance effect is now removed upon taking any damage. We will continue to monitor and iterate on this item’s functionality.
Changed the Boogie Bomb rarity to blue/rare to more accurately represent its true rarity.

GAMEPLAY

Fixed an issue which caused players to pass through their recently built and edited structures.

Fixed an issue which allowed sniper bullets to pass through players without applying any damage.

Fixed an animation issue caused by entering the DBNO state while in the air.

AUDIO

Increased the audible range of enemy footsteps, as well as their overall volume.

We’re aware of an issue causing footsteps to sometimes play at irregular intervals when offscreen. We’re working on a fix now, expect it next update.
Enemy footsteps are easier to hear when performing certain actions such as building, shooting, or collecting resources.

Fixed an issue which caused sniper bullet impact sounds to trigger more than once per shot.

Fixed the phantom bullet sounds that are sometimes heard throughout a match.

Adjusted the volume of the AC/DC Pickaxe.

Reduced the volume of the drone that teleports player out of each match.

UI

Fixed an issue which caused the “Push to Talk” setting to disappear from the Battle Royale settings when restoring default settings in Save the World.

Shortened a few Daily Challenge descriptions which would run off the screen in a few languages.

Daily challenge rewards are automatically collected if another challenge is completed in the same category.

For instance, if you complete a Battle Pass daily challenge but do not “collect” the reward, the reward will automatically be collected upon completing the next Battle Pass daily challenge.

GENERAL

Fortnite Battle Royale now supports NVIDIA ShadowPlay highlights on PC.
Fixed a rare Battle Royale server crash.

PATCH NOTES – SAVE THE WORLD

GAMEPLAY

Fixed an issue which caused crafting to fail even when there was space in your inventory.

HEROES

Fixed an issue that caused Ninja smoke bombs to heal players even when the “Medicinal Fumes” perk wasn’t unlocked.

The BASE MD perk now heals all allies on affected floors, and the perk properly applies only to the BASE placed by the Constructor.

The Energized support perk now properly increases the damage of energy attacks.

Known Issue: This perk is still failing to boost abilities like Shock Tower and BASE that spawn an object that deals energy damage.

Fixed an issue that prevented players from receiving the Raider Nomad hero from the collection book.

Players will be granted this hero automatically if they have reached Collection Book level 100.

MISSIONS

The “Winter’s Chill”, “Cold as Ice” and “Deep Freeze” quests specify that you and your team must complete a 7-day 15 zone survival mission. These quests could unintentionally be completed by finishing a 3-day 15, 40 or 70 zone survival mission.

Fixed an issue that would award large amounts of seasonal gold even when failing an Evacuate the Shelter mission.

GENERAL

Fixed a rare crash that occurred when selecting “Reward Info” in the Collection Book.

Happy with the changes? Sad to see the Boogie Bomb nerfed? Let us know.

In other Fortnite news, Epic Games is blaming the CPU “Meltdown” flaw for the game’s downtime, the developer has acknowledged that some players are having trouble logging into their account, and the previous patch introduced a new pistol.

CES 2018: Razer Lets You Combine Its Smartphone and Laptop Into One, Called “Project Linda”

Every year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, technology companies around the world debut their upcoming products and projects. Last year, Razer debuted Project Valerie, a Razer Blade laptop with two additional screens attached to the sides. This year, Razer showcased a concept that’ll make you think “damn, that’s cool,” called Project Linda.

Project Linda utilizes Razer’s first ever Android smartphone by giving it an insert into 13.3’’ laptop with some killer specs:

  • Quad HD 120hz Touchscreen Display
  • 200GB Internal Storage
  • Full laptop keyboard with Chroma lighting
  • 1 x USB Type-C port
  • 1 x USB Type-A port
  • 1 x Headphone jack

When docked, the phone transfers duties to the laptop, becoming either a second screen for some games or a standard(yet colorful) trackpad as you operate a resized and a custom version of Android.

Looking to pick one up? Put your wallet away because these projects are concepts at best. While Razer does have a working prototype at their CES booth that you can see in action here, you’ll most likely have to wait a couple of months, or years, to even see a release date; that’s assuming the project makes it to production.

PlayStation Gamers Really Like Porn, Wins PornHub’s Crown for Third Year Straight

With Sony’s PlayStation 4 leading the pack this generation by quite a margin against its closest competitor, the Xbox One, it’s understandable that more and more people are using the gaming device to do more than just game.

Well, it seems one of those things is watching porn. According to porn site PornHub. the PS4 wins for the third straight year when it comes to people who use their consoles when visiting the smut-streaming site! Check out the graph below for the breakdown.

56 percent of PornHub’s console visits come from PlayStation gamers, while the Xbox users accounted for 32 percent.

Pornhub’s development team works tirelessly to make sure that users can enjoy their experience on a wide variety of devices, and that includes visiting Pornhub on game consoles. What could be better than taking a break from playing games to play with yourself? And you don’t even have to leave your seat. Xbox’s share of console traffic dropped by 6% since 2016, while Playstation gained once again to now represent 56% of gamers watching porn. Nintendo’s portable 3DS had a large increase in market share but still only makes up 1% of game device traffic.

Given how the PSVR can be, ahem, used while checking PornHub on the PS4, I gather, that helped boost the stats and whatnot, no? Of course, some might have accidentally visited the porn site, but don’t we all?

New NBA Jam “Deal in the Works”

If you’re a bit long in the tooth (read; old), and have been gaming for a long time, then you should remember Midway’s excellent arcade basketball franchise, NBA Jam. Not only did the NBA Jam give us an excellent arcade title, it also introduced people to new catchphrases like “boomshakalaka,” and “he’s on fire!”

The former voice of NBA Jam, Tim Kitzrow, mentioned on Twitter that a deal is in the works! This was prompted when he was asked by fans whether there are any plans to bring back NBA Jam in 2018.

In case you didn’t know, Tim Kitzrow is also the voice of another resurrected franchise — Mutant Football League (which is the spiritual successor of Mutant League Football). NBA Jam’s license is owned by EA, with the latest game in the franchise being released way back in 2011 (NBA Jam: On Fire Edition).

Will this come true? As a big fan of the game during the SNES era and beyond, I sure hope so. Nothing’s certain for sure, but at least it’s being talked about now, right?

Call of Duty: WWII Spectator Bug Finally Acknowledged by Sledgehammer (Update)

Update:

Michael Condrey has updated his post on Reddit, and amended his statement about console players not experiencing it as severely. Check out the updated message below.

[Update]: Morning all. I spoke out of turn on this post yesterday. In effort to communicate more here on Reddit, I hastily represented the console experiences as both being the same. That wasn’t fair to the community. I do play WWII a lot, but I’m primarily a CODWWII PS4 player. I play on PC too, but less frequently. This spectator bug definitely impacts X1 more than any other platform at the moment. The optimistic news, per my post above, is that a fix is coming and the SHG dev and QA team were aware of the need for urgency. The fix was integrated into our next game update for X1 and PS4, which will go live once it clears the first parties. It did considerably improve the PC experience, and the issue is less common, and brief, on PS4 which will also get the console fix. We will get it fixed for Xbox players too. So put this one on me – not the Team. And know every developer at SHG is listening and working to improve the game and bring exciting new events and content to fans of the game.

Nice job on acknowledging, and rectifying it. Stay tuned for the latest Call of Duty: WWII news here on MP1st.

Original Story:

If you’ve been playing Call of Duty: WWII since release or just recently, you’ve no doubt might have seen the spectator bug affecting the game right now. For those unfamiliar with the issue, it shows the player (you) spawning in but only as a spectator while the match is currently on-going, which affects gameplay for objective-based modes like Domination, Capture the Flag, and so on.

Over on Reddit, Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey has finally acknowledged the issue, and has given a statement about it.

Spectator bug update, WWII
byu/Mcondrey inWWII

If you can’t read the embedded post, it reads:

Happy New Year, everyone!

We wanted to update you on the work we’ve done to address the PC issue that some people were seeing where they initially spawned into a match in spectator mode. This delayed spawn issue generally is uncommon and brief on consoles, but had the potential to be much longer for PC players.

Over the holiday break, we made a update to the PC that prioritized the streaming of the critical blocking gun assets. The fix made a serious improvement to the issue on the PC platform. Since it went live, we’ve still seen it on rare occasions but the duration was very brief. Please let us know your experience, but we’re pretty confident that the issue has been virtually eliminated from impacting the quality of the match experience for PC players now.

While this spectator issue generally doesnt impact console players, and when it does the duration is very short, we’ll be rolling the same streaming fix out to both consoles in the game update that comes out later this month. We’ll keep you posted on that in our patch notes when the update goes live.

Best, Condrey

The tl;dr version is: fix is incoming later this month for both consoles and PC. PC is more affected by i than consoles.

What’s odd here is the part about how it generally “doesn’t impact console players.” I mean, I play on PS4, and I experience it in virtually every game. Sure, it might not last for a long time, but it is there.

Let’s hope this month’s update for the game also fixes sprint out time, and includes some of the weapon balancing tweaks as well.

Call of Duty: WWII “The Darkest Shore” Trailer Gives Us a Taste of New Death

Activision has released a brand new trailer for Call of Duty: WWII’s Zombies mode called “The Darkest Shore,” which will be included in the game’s first DLC pack, Resistance.

As one can expect, this new chapter in the Nazi Zombies mode will add a host of new enemies to take down, and in a new location. Check out the video below, as well as the official description straight from the press release.

The Darkest Shore follows our heroes into the next chapter of their dangerous journey. Only days after the horrific disaster of Mittelburg, the crew has received intel that suggests Doktor Straub is on an island just north of Germany. Blanketed in fog, this island is surrounded by Nazi air and sea power – and crawling with the Undead. Marie, Drostan, Olivia, and Jefferson will need to battle all this and more to uncover the mysteries hidden within the Darkest Shore.

The Resistance map pack will be released this January 30 on the PlayStation 4, with the other platforms (Xbox One and PC) getting it after 30 days. It will include three new multiplayer maps, a new War mode mission (Operation Intercept), and the latest chapter of Nazi Zombies.

In other Call of Duty: WWII news, if you’re expecting Ground War to make it into the game, don’t, as it doesn’t seem to be in the cards. You should also check out the latest weekly reset of new Contracts to see what you can earn.

Destiny 2 Crimson Days Event Is Happening, Datamined Files Suggest

It seems like Destiny players will see the return of the game’s “Crimson Days” event, a celebration of love and Valentine’s Day.

In a recent datamine of the PC version, Reddit user Ginsor found files containing various Crimson Days-themed lines:

“Guardians honor the unbreakable bonds they forge on and off the battlefield by competing in the Crucible’s Crimson Days festival. First, follow the rose petals in the Tower to Tess Everis’-she has something for you.”

“Speak to Tess Everis to claim your free Crimson Days Engram.”

“Speak to Shaxx in the Tower to learn more about his love for Crimson Days.”

“As boisterous as ever, Shaxx speaks warmly (and loudly) of Crimson Days’-and of his challenge to Guardians who choose to celebrate with him in the Crucible.”

“Shaxx congratulates you and your Crimson Bond on battles hard-fought and victories hard-won during Crimson Days’-and offers a handsome reward with his inspiring words.”

“Complete Crimson Days Crucible matches.”

“Complete Crimson Days matches to earn holiday-themed rewards.”

“Crimson Doubles”

“Win a Crimson Days match in sudden death.”

“This engram contains one Crimson Days vanity reward and a small stack of shaders or a transmat effect.”

In other Destiny 2 news, this fan comic pokes fun at Tess Everis’ exploitative nature, the game’s development was apparently rebooted in early 2016, and Bungie has “lots of good info to share” this week.

CES 2018: HTC Vive Pro Revealed With Improved Design & Resolution, Wireless Adaptor Provides New Level of Freedom

Following its teasing on Twitter, HTC has unveiled the HTC Vive Pro, a new VR headset that features an overhauled design and high(er)-res display.

Focusing on the display, the Vive Pro includes “dual-OLED displays for a crisp picture resolution of 2880 x 1600 combined, a 78% increase in resolution over the current Vive HMD.”

Ergonomically, players can expect a more balanced feel on the head, with a “new headstrap was built with enhanced ergonomics and comfort, including a sizing dial for a more balanced headset that decreases weight on the front of the headset.”

There are also integrated, high-performance headphones attached to the Vive Pro, in addition to dual front-facing cameras and dual microphones with active noise cancellation. (The latter two features are mainly there to “empower developer creativity.”)

We’re still waiting for confirmation on a release date and price.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9V1w6Lpm5k

HTC also announced the Vive Wireless Adaptor, which promises to make the existing Vive and new Vive Pro “truly wireless.” It’s set to launch in Q3 of this year.

The Vive Wireless Adaptor features Intel’s WiGig technology and offers a premium VR wireless experience that operates in the interference-free 60Ghz band, which means lower latency and better performance. The Vive Wireless Adaptor will ship in Q3 to customers worldwide.

HTC dropping some big announcements at CES 2018. It’s great to see, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the competition reacts.

Halo 6 Release Date Unlikely to Be During 2018, However Halo TV Show Is “Still In Very Active Development”

Over on the 343 Industries blog, the Halo developer posted a message to the fans with details of what to expect for this new year. Unfortunately, any notion of a Halo 6 release date for 2018 was shot down pretty much immediately.

The blog post’s intro reads:

Welcome back! To be frank (or Grim, really), I’m not sure if that’s a welcome back to us, or you guys, but let’s go with it either way. 2018 has arrived and with it, the promise of new fun times to be had and adventures to be embarked upon. No, not those adventures, but plenty of exciting ones regardless – some which might surprise you more than others.

“No, not those adventures” has to refer to Halo 6, right? The Halo community seems to think so, and I’m going to agree.

As for Halo in other media, it looks like the Steven Spielberg-made Halo TV show is still happening!

Despite five years having passed since we heard anything about the project, Showtime president and CEO David Nevins informed TVGuide.com that Halo “is absolutely still in development, still moving forward and I’m encouraged by what we’ve seen so far.” When poked for more, Levine said “it’s still live action, and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime.”

Both good and bad news for Halo fans, I guess!
