Fortnite Battle Royale to Get a New City, Underground Mine & More In Next Week’s Update

Epic Games has provided a tease of what’s to come in next week’s Fortnite update. Players who boot up the game will see a “New Updates” popup. Two of three notifications show off the newly-added Cozy Campfire trap and Nvidia ShadowPlay Highlights functionality. The third notification, however, offers a preview of what’s to come.

It reads:

New City & Points of Interest (Coming Soon)

Discover a new city, underground mine and more in next week’s update.

So that’s the new content players can expect for next week!

If you missed this week’s Fortnite Battle Royale patch notes, let me break them down for you:

WEAPONS

The Boogie Bomb dance effect is now removed upon taking any damage. We will continue to monitor and iterate on this item’s functionality.
Changed the Boogie Bomb rarity to blue/rare to more accurately represent its true rarity.

GAMEPLAY

Fixed an issue which caused players to pass through their recently built and edited structures.

Fixed an issue which allowed sniper bullets to pass through players without applying any damage.

Fixed an animation issue caused by entering the DBNO state while in the air.

AUDIO

Increased the audible range of enemy footsteps, as well as their overall volume.

We’re aware of an issue causing footsteps to sometimes play at irregular intervals when offscreen. We’re working on a fix now, expect it next update.
Enemy footsteps are easier to hear when performing certain actions such as building, shooting, or collecting resources.

Fixed an issue which caused sniper bullet impact sounds to trigger more than once per shot.

Fixed the phantom bullet sounds that are sometimes heard throughout a match.

Adjusted the volume of the AC/DC Pickaxe.

Reduced the volume of the drone that teleports player out of each match.

UI

Fixed an issue which caused the “Push to Talk” setting to disappear from the Battle Royale settings when restoring default settings in Save the World.

Shortened a few Daily Challenge descriptions which would run off the screen in a few languages.

Daily challenge rewards are automatically collected if another challenge is completed in the same category.

For instance, if you complete a Battle Pass daily challenge but do not “collect” the reward, the reward will automatically be collected upon completing the next Battle Pass daily challenge.

GENERAL

Fortnite Battle Royale now supports NVIDIA ShadowPlay highlights on PC.
Fixed a rare Battle Royale server crash.

Are you looking forward to exploring a new city and underground mine? Let us know.

In other Fortnite news, Epic Games is blaming the CPU “Meltdown” flaw for the game’s downtime, the developer has acknowledged that some players are having trouble logging into their account, and the previous patch introduced a new pistol.

Despite these odds, a few players have managed to acquire the super rare items, and have put them on the Steam Market to make money. Take a look at the screenshot below to spot the $1300 Cloth Mask (Checkered) and $365 Sleeveless Biker Jacket (Black).

I’ve seen offers of up to $500 being made for the Cloth Mask. Not quite meeting the $1300 asking price, but still pretty ridiculous.

What do you make of the recent patch? Happy with the changes, overall? Let us know.

LawBreakers Player Count Finally Dropped to Zero on PC (Update)

Update:

As noted by several readers, other games seemed to experience downtime between 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET on January 10. This makes it highly likely that services for LawBreakers were also down. (This was never communicated via the game’s website or social media channels.)

While writing this article, I did check another title to try and make sure it wasn’t a Steam/Steam Charts issue. Grand Theft Auto V remained online, so I quickly dismissed that idea. It’s now clear that I should have checked more games, and I certainly will do that in the future.

However, I’d also like to note that LawBreakers‘ player count has fallen to zero before. Readers have pointed out that no one was playing the game for an hour on December 23, for example.

Original Story:

According to Steam Charts, which tracks the total number of concurrent players for all Steam titles, LawBreakers count dropped to zero during the hours of 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET on January 10.

I first assumed the “0” player count was due to some kind of maintenance or downtime, but I can’t find any evidence of this on the game’s site or social media channels. I also can’t find any player-submitted reports of downtime, either.

With the player base dwindling for months now, it seems it was only a matter of time before people stopped trying to find populated lobbies.

It’s unclear what will happen to LawBreakers. Publisher Nexon has expressed disappointment in the game’s performance, and I think most players are waiting for a free-to-play announcement.

I was a massive fan of what LawBreakers brought to the table during its test phases. I was even excited about its release, despite the genre being saturated and other addicting games vying for my attention.

What do make of this news? Sad to see LawBreakers struggling? Or is it unsurprising? Let us know.

Call of Duty: WWII Sprint Out Time and Other Community Concerns Being Looked at by Sledgehammer

Just yesterday, Sledgehammer Games revealed that they’re set to roll out a “Domination XL” mode for Call of Duty: WWII that will have each kill count as 100 points instead of 50. This is all part of the studio’s effort to communicate more with the game’s fan base, and it seems more changes are on the way.

Over on Reddit, the studio posted a rundown of the community concerns, and fixes that people are asking for. While there’s no guarantee all of the things mentioned will be tweaked, Sledgehammer did say that they’re going to share their design choices for some as well. Check out the complete message below, and yes, spring out times are mentioned!

Quick Update on Community Concerns
byu/SHG_Hammer inWWII

In case you can’t see the embedded Reddit post, it reads:

Hey everyone, hope your holidays were great and relaxing. Quick update here. We’ve seen all of your feedback on how we can improve our flow of communication and let you know more about some of our design choices. We want you to know that we take your input seriously and recognize that while commenting and replying to individuals is great, the community would also like to see more frequent posts from us on r/WWII. It’s a fair and valid point, and seems to be a sentiment shared amongst many of you.

That’s why while we have a Game Update coming for you soon, we would also like to expand on some of our high-priority items below that remain top issues in the community. Some of them are issues that need to be fixed, some of them are design choices that we’d like to explain. So stay tuned for a more detailed post on the below:

  • Sprint out times
  • Spectating issue at beginning of matches
  • Domination 50 score per kill
  • Announcer volume levels
  • Health regeneration
  • Shellshock from friendly explosions
  • Scorestreaks
  • Shotgun tuning

Please feel free to leave comments and let us know what else you’d like us to talk about. Upvoting comments you agree with or that represent your concerns is also great. Thanks, everyone!

As someone who plays Call of Duty: WWII a lot, the Domination change, Shellshock annoyance, and sprint out times are the biggest concerns I have. Checking the community, sprint out time is one of the most requested tweak that people want — and with good reason.

Most likely, the changes mentioned above, will be included in the game update set to roll out later this month, which includes a fix for the spectator issue.

In other Call of Duty: WWII news, don’t forget that a new playlist update was rolled out today, and it fixed Heroic weapon variants (finally!).

Rainbow Six Siege Update (4.2) That Nerfs Ela Out Now, Patch Notes Listed

Ubisoft has rolled out the latest Rainbow Six Siege update (4.2), and as we’ve mentioned previously, it nerfs the Operator Ela and her submachine gun super weapon. Clocking in at 772MB on the PlayStation 4, the update has a host of bug fixes, gameplay improvements and lots more.

Check out the comprehensive Rainbow Six Siege update patch notes below.

Balance Changes

Ela’s SMG will have a reduced magazine size

We have decided to lower the magazine size of her SMG from 50 to 40 bullets.

Game Designer notes: Ela overpowers her competition. Players select her almost every round, and for a good reason. All of the data we have on her (such as win ratio, K/D ratio, and Kills per round) shows that she needs to be nerfed. We have found this to be primarily because of her SMG and to a lesser extent her concussion mines.

The recoil of her SMG was already nerfed slightly with Y2S3.2, but this did not have the impact that we hoped.

For now, we’re trying to balance her while keeping her SMG’s uniqueness, which lets her fight several opponents at a time better than other defenders. We will consider other ways of nerfing this weapon if this is not enough.

In addition to the reduced magazine size, we will be reducing the overall strength of concussion effects across the board.

Reduction in Concussion effects

With Y2S4.2 patch, concussion effects will no longer disable sprinting. It will still reduce movement speed and camera rotation speed, but affected targets will recuperate much faster (4 sec, instead of 7 sec). The effect on sight and hearing will still last a total of 7 sec.

Game Designer notes: This change will affect both Ela and Zofia. We believe this will most heavily impact Ela, as Zofia also has impact grenades to rely on for increased effectiveness.

Compared to other gadgets of this nature, the concussion effect is superior in almost every way: it greatly affects movement speed, massively slows down rotation speed, and also reduces a player’s ability to hear and see.

Ash’s R4-C nerf

We reduced the damage of the R4-C to 39 (from 41).

Game Designer notes: Ash is still a pick that is too attractive when compared to other attackers. We’ve compared her most popular weapon (R4-C) to other assault rifles stats and given the R4-C’s very high rate of fire (860), its damage is a bit too high.

*We are aware of a visual issue with Suppressed damage not displaying properly in the Menu. The values in-game are true to the table above.

Capitao’s Para-308 buff

We increased the Para-308’s raw damage is to 48 (from 43). We also slightly reduced the intensity of the random components of its recoil.

Game Designer notes: Capitao right now is not attractive enough. His gadget suffers from a few issues that will need long-term solutions, but in the meantime, it’s clear that his main assault rifle is too weak.

*We are aware of a visual issue with Suppressed damage not displaying properly in the Menu. The values in-game are true to the table above.

Twitch’s Shock Drone Ammo

We reduced the max ammo for each Shock Drone to 5 (from 15).

Game Designer notes: Twitch right now is too strong. There are several possible reasons, one of them being that her drones have the potential to deny an unreasonable amount of electronics from defenders. We feel that this change will force players to start making choices about when to shoot or to save their ammo, and which Defender gadgets to destroy.

Bandit’s barbed wire

Bandit will now have two barbed wire (down from 3).

Game Designer notes: Even if Ela has eclipsed Bandit’s pick rate, players still pick him too often. Reducing the number of barbed wires he has should bring him more in line with other Defenders.

Lesion’s Gu Mine refill timer

We lowered Lesion’s Gu Mine refill timer to 30 sec (from 35).

Game Designer notes: Lesion is in an OK place right now, but could use a slight buff. By reducing the refill timer, it will encourage his specific playstyle of staying alive as long as possible to increase the strength of his defensive gadget.

Other Improvements

Temporal Filtering

The T-AA has been fully implemented. As part of this, the Resolution Scaling and Sharpness Factor slide bars are in the Options menu.

With render scaling, you will be able to customize the ratio between render resolution and display resolution, which will allow you to maintain your target framerate. For example:

Table

More details about Temporal Filtering and Anti-Aliasing can be found here.

Bomb UI Changes

We changed the player markers for players that are interacting with the Defuser. When a teammate is interacting with the Defuser, a new animation icon appears on the player. If your teammate is in the process of disabling the Defuser, you will also notice a new animated icon on that player. The new animated icon should make it easier to identify which teammate is currently interacting with the Defuser.

Additionally, once the teammate plants the Defuser, the progress of the Defuser replaces the round timer.

These are the first steps we are taking towards improving the Bomb game mode, and we will have more information about our next steps at the Six Invitational!

Caster Camera improvements

We will be making some adjustments to the Caster Camera. These adjustments will improve the viewer experience for those watching the spectator camera, but also provide them with more information in a more digestible format.

You can see a screenshot of the new UI here:

Bug Fixes

GAMEPLAY

FIXED – Shield exploit that involves Deployable Shields being held in front of an Operator.

FIXED – No warning appears when Dokkaebi is out of Logic Bomb uses and tries to activate it.

FIXED – When in ADS, you do not need to hold the appropriate key to use Logic Bomb.

Echo

FIXED – Yokai is stuck and has framed camera rotation rate on uneven terrain/debris.

FIXED – The drones including Yokai have issues smoothly turning when navigating on certain destructible surfaces.

FIXED – The Yokai drone loses signal in multiple places on Tower.

FIXED – Echo drone can stick to the canister under Mira’s Black Mirror.

Zofia

FIXED – Zofia’s LMG-E should have 150 bullets instead of 151.

FIXED – Users can extend the bleed out timer by spamming Withstand.

Ying

FIXED – Ying’s Candela will not go through the Ramps of 3F Watchtower of Oregon.

LEVEL DESIGN

Chalet

FIXED – Players can prone between objects at 1F Trophy Room and be pushed inside the wall or outside at EXT Campfire Wood.

FIXED – Nitro cells do not inflict damage if detonated on the plants from 1F Great Room.

FIXED – Defenders in Prone stance in one corner of 1F Dining Room are not contesting the objective.

FIXED – Player can be stuck inside a wall if they use the vault prompt on beer cases.

Consulate

FIXED – Castle’s double door Armor Panels do not cover the entire frame.

Tower

FIXED – Player can vault in a specific location to get on a window frame.

FIXED – There are lights on the side of the tower, which can block an Attacker’s rappel trajectory.

Kanal

FIXED – Due to a missing texture, players can exploit an area using drones and kill enemies.

Coastline

FIXED – Attackers can plant the Defuser from outside the objective at Ext Main Entrance.

Theme Park

FIXED – Attackers can place a drone inside the barricaded window of EXT Sweet Shops.

FIXED – Vault prompt is missing on the rooftop of the building.

USER EXPERIENCE

FIXED – Too much smoke appears when shooting with some weapons.

FIXED – Installing the latest graphics driver for AMD will cause a crash when explosives are triggered.

FIXED – Concussion and Sonic Burst effect applies to replays if applied after the start of replay.

That’s one hefty patch, no? What else should Ubisoft tweak next?

Call of Duty: WWII Playlist Update Fixes Heroic Weapon Variants

Just a few weeks ago, we reported that the Heroic weapon variants in Call of Duty: WWII didn’t exactly give their advertised 15 percent XP buff.

Fortunately for us, Sledgehammer Games seems to have taken this whole “communication” thing to heart, as the studio has now rolled out a Call of Duty: WWII hotfix/playlist update that’s out right now!

Over on Reddit, Sledgehammer Games announced the hotfix, and what it does (spoilers: it only fixes Heroics and that’s it).

Hot Fix Update 1/10 – XP for Heroics
byu/SHG_Hammer inWWII

In case you can’t see the embedded message, it reads:

Hey everyone, we wanted to let you know that today we deployed a fix for the Heroic variants not granting the intended +15% XP, since they were previously granting only +10% XP.

Thank you!

This isn’t the only thing Sledgehammer aims to fix in the game, as the studio has also mentioned it’ll be rolling out a “Domination XL” mode where each kill counts as 100, and even acknowledged the spectator bug that’s been plaguing the game for months now.

Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter Account Comes to Life After Years of Silence

With how awesome The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (and in particular, the franchise itself), it’s hard to not get giddy for CD Projekt RED’s games. While we don’t know if we’ll see another entry in The Witcher franchise once again, we do know what the company’s next game will be and it’s Cyberpunk 2077.

Announced back in 2012, Cyberpunk 2077 has been noticeably absent in almost every game show, and has remained under lock and key at CD Projekt all this time. Well, it seems the studio might be ready to talk a bit about the game! Over on Twitter, the official Cyberpunk 2077 account finally sprung back to life after a four-year hiatus, and tweeted “beep.”

Yep, the message was just “beep” or more accurately, *beep* and that’s it. This was enough to send Twitter into a frenzy, since as of the time of this writing, the tweet has been liked over 29,000 times, and retweeted over 11,000 times.

Does this mean CD Projekt is ready to share more about the game? Maybe or maybe they just want to knock off the cobwebs from time to time. Let’s hope it’s the former, and that we’ll hear more about it soon.

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO: Don’t Worry About Games as a Service, PlayStation Vision “Totally Different” (Update)

Update:

Well, it seems we spoke too soon! The John Kodera Twitter account was a fake, despite being followed by legit PlayStation employees. The account is now suspended, thankfully!

Thanks, Gematsu!

Original Story:

With more and more games jumping in the “Games as a service” (Gaas) bandwagon due to the increase revenue it brings, some people might be wondering what will happen to standalone, deep, experiences.

If you’re one of the many that don’t want every game they play to be some kind of service, Sony has you covered. Over on Twitter, John (Tsuyoshi) Kodera, the newly appointed CEO and President of Sony Interactive Entertainment (Sony’s PlayStation division), told a fan that the PlayStation brand’s “vision” is “totally different” from the GaaS business model.

This is definitely good news. While most of us here on MP1st play a lot of multiplayer games, we’re still big fans of rich, narrative-driven single-player experiences. And unless you shoehorn some type of loot box mechanic into these types of games, they don’t necessarily fit the GaaS revenue stream.

Are you happy with Kodera’s statement or should he get with the program and find a way to make Sony’s games lineup be involved in the GaaS mode to prolong their longevity?

Star Wars Battlefront II Was the Most Downloaded Game on PSN Last Month. DICE Holds Four Games of Top 20 for 2017

While there’s a lot of controversy and negativity surrounding EA and DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront II, it seems the game’s selling at a decent pace. Not only did it reach the #1 spot in Australia’s gaming charts back in November, but Battlefront II was even the most downloaded game last month on the PlayStation Store.

This was revealed by the official Sony PlayStation Blog earlier today, where it also revealed the most downloaded DLC, PSVR game and so on for last month.

In addition that, DICE seems to have done well in 2017, too. You might not have noticed it, but the PlayStation Store’s biggest-selling games of 2017 list had four games made by DICE in the top 20!

PS4:

  1. FIFA 2018
  2. Call of Duty WWII
  3. Rocket League
  4. GTA V
  5. Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy
  6. Horizon Zero Dawn

  19. Battlefield 4
  20. Assassin’s Creed Origins

In case you didn’t know what games DICE made in the list, it’s Battlefront II, the first Battlefront, Battlefield 1, and Battlefield 4! DICE’s publisher EA had seven games in total out of the top 20, which isn’t bad at all. Note that these are only PlayStation Store units sold, and doesn’t include physical sales and the like.

What does this all mean? I’d say people still love Star Wars games, and DICE games seems to be highly sought after still. Oh, and EA is still making crazy amounts of money even with the backlash and all.

Report: Microsoft Introducing New Achievements System for Xbox One, Will Have “Careers” and Rewards

Not satisfied with the current Xbox Achievements system? Gamerscore hunting not doing it for you anymore? If so, Microsoft might have just the thing. According to Windows Central, a new Xbox One Achievements system will be introduced by Microsoft, and it’s looking beyond just Gamescores.

There’s said to be a new “Career” system that will go hand-in-hand with the current Achievements program established since the last generation. This is said to be added to give players who focus the majority of their gaming time on just one title (sports gamers, shooter junkies, etc.). Players are said to be able to earn “levels” in this new Career system, and will even get to earn rewards such as loot crates that house cosmetic items for the new Avatars system. Additionally, “Quests” will be part of this new roll out that will tie in to certain games.

A new subdomain for the Xbox Live page (career.xboxlive.com) is said to be going up as well, which will undoubtedly be connected to the new Achievements and Career system.

Treat this as a rumor for now, but given Windows Central’s good track record when it comes to all things Microsoft, expect an official announcement addressing this new Xbox Achievements syste soon-ish.

Sledgehammer Games Talks About Call of Duty: WWII Upcoming Changes, Tweaked Domination Score Per Kill Playlist Incoming

True to their word, Sledgehammer Games has been quite communicative to fans when it comes to Call of Duty: WWII upcoming changes. Over on Reddit, Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey posted a “January preview” of the things to come to the shooter this month.

Chief among the new stuff added will be the Resistance expansion pack, but that won’t be all. Sledgehammer says that “rewards” and “events” will also be coming this month, so non-DLC owners should have something to look forward to as well. These new tweaks will be part of the weapon adjustments that were earlier discussed by the studio.

One major thing that’s going to be tested this January is a new “Domination XL” playlist, where each kill will count for 100 points as opposed to just 50.

Check out the entire message below.

WWII MP – January preview
byu/Mcondrey inWWII

If you can’t see the embedded Reddit post, it says:

There’s a lot coming to WWII in January. The Resistance is packed with all kinds of new content- MP maps and a new War experience, a new Zombies chapter, events, rewards, and more. CWL New Orleans is about to kick off this weekend. (Fingers crossed – we’re working to see if we can live-stream the event straight to the HQ theater for PS4, so you can watch it directly in game while still practicing in the 1v1 pit or on the firing range). We’ve got new weapon tuning updates to address community feedback that we’d like to roll those out next week. In addition, we’re looking at a Domination XL (100 points per kill) test playlist to re-examine player enjoyment (vs Dom 50). There’s a game update coming with some key fixes too. Plus a host of additional news that we look forward to sharing in the days ahead.

Also, Ranked Play: Season 1 will be ending on Jan 31st. Season 2 officially kicks off February 1st. So keep your grind on and pursue those top tier Season 1 rewards for a couple more weeks. We’ve gathered a ton of player data during the Placement Season, and we’ve fixed a number of important bugs in Ranked Play since Season One started on December 1st. More RP fixes coming in the next game update too. We’ve also heard the community’s desire to have XP rewarded in RP. We’re working on that now. I’m not entirely sure when it will get fully integrated in the live environment, but barring anything crazy, it will come online during Season 2.

Happy Wednesday, all. Much more news to come via our @SHGames channels. Positive intent and well wishes to everyone here in r/WWII and across the Call of Duty community. Good luck to the competitors in New Orleans. Stay safe on Bourbon Street.

-Condrey

Just yesterday, Condrey also addressed the annoying “spectator glitch” and confirmed it’ll be fixed later this month.

Let’s hope Sledgehammer continues communicating with the community. Now, if we can get sprint out times changed, and maybe iron out some of the bugs, we’ll be good.

Blizzard Aims to Release New Overwatch Map & More Skins By “End of the Month,” Also Explains Loot Drops

It looks like the new Overwatch “Blizzard World” map, as well as new additions to the standard skin pool, could be coming to the main build by the end of the month.

Responding to a post on the official Overwatch forums, Blizzard game director Jeff Kaplan said that he’s hoping everything launches before the end of the month, but warns that “stuff” could happen to delay the update.

User Chappie asked:

When are they releasing? And will stored up loot boxes have chances of unlocking the new skins? Also that Doomfist skin is beautiful, I wants its!

Kaplan answered:

Blizzard World and the new loot box items release early this year. Between you and me, I am hoping before the end of the month. But “stuff” can happen.

Loot boxes roll their items the moment you acquire them — meaning if you hold on to loot boxes, they will not have new items or any other changes to that system.

Glad you like the Doomfist skin. The artists will be happy.

What with the Overwatch League skins having just been added to the game, I’d be surprised to see even more content squashed into January, but I certainly wouldn’t complain!

Speaking of which, you can check out the new OWL skins in the video below:

Are you excited for the new map and skins? Let us know.

In other Overwatch news, a fan-made map has attracted the attention of Blizzard, the latest version of Doomfist is still plagued with bugs, and Mercy and Junkrat got hit hard with the latest PTR update.

Battlefield 1 TTK Changes, Dreadnought vs Dreadnought Combat & More Confirmed to Be Coming Soon

There’s some exciting Battlefield 1 changes on the horizon, with time-to-kill (TTK) getting a tweak, and guaranteed-to-be-epic Dreadnought vs. Dreadnought combat, both promised by developers.

DICE LA designer Alex Sulman spoke about TTK changes on Twitter, during a Q&A community session:

The Dreadnought vs. Dreadnought combat was revealed in an update post for the Battlefield 1 CTE. The Heligoland Bight map is currently being tested.

“Yes, Dreadnought vs. Dreadnought is happening! Dreadnoughts spawn for each side and can shell cap points over the two islands of Heligoland Bight. The boat combat is intensified, as the side that loses its Dreadnought first is at a big disadvantage. (Though, because it’s Conquest Assault, the Attackers will get a second Dreadnought if they lose their first and are falling too far behind in score.)

Feedback from the CTE has been really useful to see that the vehicle combat was unbalanced. Rather than nerf the air combat, we made several adjustments to balance and counter the planes:

  • We’ve added one more Destroyer per side (4 active at the same time!)
  • All flags can be captured by a Destroyer
  • Each side now has the Airship
  • All flags can be captured by the Airship
  • Both sides have active Dreadnoughts early in the match
  • One less active plane (from 6 to 5). Each team has two HQ plane spawns, but capturing the U-118 flag will provide a third plane for either side.”

Lots for Battlefield 1 fans to look forward to! At least, up until the reveal of Battlefield 2018

PUBG Loot Box Odds Are Ridiculous, Average of 80 Years to Earn Rarest Items

Implemented with the latest PUBG update, Test Server players can now try their hands at opening two new types of loot boxes. There’s the “Desperado” and the “Biker” crates. Both contain new items that change the appearance of characters.

I opened a few myself in this video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu5sATC3kQM

In the above video, I noted the 0.01% odds, which I thought to be a little extreme. Well, I was right, as Ars Technica (who “did the math”) proved in their article.

“… If you purchase the maximum six crates a week, you can expect roughly 2.4 of them to be Biker crates and 2.4 to be Desperado crates, on average. To purchase the 10,000 Biker crates that you’d expect to need for a single black Sleeveless Biker jacket would thus take 4,166 weeks, or just under 80 years. For the paid Desperado crates, it would take about five years of maximized crate purchases and $1,562.50, on average, before your first Leopard Cloth Mask showed up.

(You’d also need to earn and spend just over 89.5 million BP through gameplay to buy all those Biker crates, but that’s actually not unreasonable over 80 years of dedicated play).”

Read their full explanation of the new crates and what it means for the game here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7sgxxTeBcU

I’m hoping these odds are only being applied to the Test Server. When the update hits the live build, I think we’ll see the odds improved.

If the odds don’t improve, and a player manages to receive one the 0.01% items, we’ll probably see it being sold for ridiculous money on the Steam Marketplace. (You know, like we saw with the pink skirt, only much, much, much worse!)

What do you make of these PUBG loot box odds? Let us know.

In other PUBG news, Xbox has said that sales for the console version are “very big,” netcode analysis shows that the game has a big problem, and the Battle Royale Trainer is here to help players improve.

Bungie Confirms Destiny 2 Crimson Days Event Is Coming, but It “Won’t Be the Same As Last Time”

Following yesterday’s post, where datamined files suggested that Destiny‘s “Crimson Days” event would be returning for this year, Bungie community manager Cozmo went ahead and confirmed that there would indeed be an in-game Valentine’s Day celebration.

On the very same Reddit thread that hosted the leaked files, Cozmo responded with the following:

Here’s the “plain text” version:

The rumors are True. Crimson Days is coming back. It won’t be the same as last time(2016). We will talk about how it is changing in the blog update on Thursday.

No further information was given, but we’ve already got a pretty good idea of what to expect from the leaked dialogue and artwork.

What are you hoping to see during the Crimson Days event? Less microtransactions, more fun? Let us know.

In other Destiny 2 news, this fan comic pokes fun at Tess Everis’ exploitative nature, the game’s development was apparently rebooted in early 2016, and Bungie has “lots of good info to share” this week.
