NZXT Motherboard Is Both Stylish and Functional, Check Out the Specs!

Known for their cases and their cooling, NZXT has decided to break the mold and release with their first ever motherboard, the N7 Z370.

For an easy, breezy, $300 USD, you can own a beautiful motherboard that supports Intel’s 8th generation processors, has two M.2 connectors for your fast as heck SSDs, and even comes with “Adaptive Noise Reduction” which uses an onboard sensor to learn the balance of fan speed and keeping your system cool.

The most significant takeaway and the elephant in the case(pun intended) is that unlike the majority of motherboards where you’ll see all the capacitors, fan connectors, and ports, is that the N7 comes with an all metal colored shroud.

The shroud covers all the ports and what some may consider to be the ugliness of the motherboard. Buyers can pick colors such as white, red, green, blue, purple, or matte black to give their computer some flair to admire.

Here’s a full feature list for you to peruse:

N7 Z370 Exclusive Features

  • CAM-powered features simplify setup and control of RGB lighting and fans
  • HUE+ digital RGB lighting control: advanced lighting with numerous presets and custom modes
  • GRID+ V3 digital fan control: convenient fan profiles within CAM for nine independent fan channels
  • Clean customization: all-metal cover available in black and white, and heatsink covers available in a glossy blue, red, or purple finish to color coordinate any build
  • Efficient layout ensures straightforward and optimal setup with easy upgradeability
  • Adaptive Noise Reduction optimizes cooling and noise balance for best gaming comfort

Other Features

  • Designed with Intel® Z370 Express Chipset
  • Compatible with Intel® 8th Generation Core™ i7, Core™ i5, and Core™ i3 processors
  • Intel® Optane™ Memory Ready
  • Two M.2 connectors
  • Multi-GPU support with NVIDIA® SLI™ and AMD CrossFireX™ Technology
  • Supports memory overclocking speeds of up to 3866+ MHz and Intel® XMP 2.0
  • 1 channel high-definition audio with Nichicon gold capacitors
  • 15 digital power-phase design using Infineon ICs ensures clean and reliable power for your CPU, memory, and PCH chipset

You can preorder the motherboard here, but don’t expect it to ship until January 29, 2018.

If you own a PS4, and want to play the entire trilogy again, a Dark Souls Trilogy has also been announced, but only for the PS4 and only in Japan (so far). Upcoming For Honor Patch 1.18 Hits Hard With Hero Improvements and Bug Fixes

Ubisoft is preparing to deploy a new For Honor update, which is overflowing with hero improvements, bug fixes, and more. It’s set to roll out on January 18.

Take a look at the extensive list of patch notes below:

Fighters:

All Heroes

[Bug Fix] We fixed multiple instances of soft feints and flickers regarding attacks, guardbreaks and dodges when playing within 100 ms latency.

Developer Comments: We hope that by removing the ability to soft feint consistently, these cases will not be exploitable anymore. The outcome being dependent on the latency between you and your target.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that allowed players, on an extremely short reaction window, to dodge out of certain death situations when thrown off ledges. This issue only occurred on specific ledges.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where players would effectively miss their “Drop Attack” when opponent is unbalanced.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused the throw to interrupt the player that performed it. The throw can still interrupt other players in its path.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that allowed player to feint a guardbreak by quickly performing heavy attack after blocking the opponent.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused a conflict in between trying to activate an interactive object while a teammate is reviveable in the interaction area.

Peacekeeper

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that could make the “Zone Attack” very hard to block while feinted during Revenge.

Conqueror

[Improvement] Reduced the tracking of the Conqueror’s “Sprint Attack”.
[Bug Fix] Fixed a clipping issue for the “Garrot” Execution while performed by a female Conqueror.

Lawbringer

[Improvement] Reduced the tracking of the Lawbringer’s “Impaling Charge”.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused the Lawbringer’s target to not fall off ledges if he is hit by an external Shove during the “Impaling Charge” or “Impaling Riposte”.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused the opponent body to fly in air when executed with the “Long Shot” execution.

Warlord

[Improvement] Reduced the tracking of the Warlord’s “Sprint Attack” and “Jump Attack”.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue with the Warlord’s “Auto-Revive” feat after being killed in the ballista.

Valkyrie

[Improvement] Valkyrie’s “Shield Charge” can now be cancelled by going out of lock.

Shugoki

[Improvement] The Stun of the “Headbutt” will now correctly be affected by “Debuff Resistance” gear.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused “Crashing Thunder” not to be interrupted by the Aramusha’s “Blade Blockade” or any other that move that offers Uninterruptible Stance.

Orochi

[Improvement] Orochi “Storm Rush” can now be cancelled by going out of lock.

Shinobi

[Improvement] After any hit, the Shinobi did not reinitialize his charge when Heavy Attack is still held. Now the charge of the Shinobi works (in term of input) like the charge of the Conqueror for example.

[Improvement] Shinobi is now vulnerable to guardbreak during the last 400ms (from 200 ms) of the “Front Roll Kick” Recovery.

[Improvement] Shinobi could perform “Sickle Rain” combo on an ally. This is now fixed.

[Improvement] When you perform a “Tackle” then lock your target just before the impact, your target was interrupted instead of unbalanced. This is now fixed.

[Improvement] Reduced the tracking of the Shinobi’s “Tackle”.

[Bug Fix] Shinobi was able to use his “Super Sprint” without consuming stamina for a short period of time. This is now fixed.

[Bug Fix] Updated the “Super Sprint” animation on the Shinobi, fixed some animation issues going from “Sprint” to “Super Sprint” while climbing stairs.

Centurion

[Improvement] Reduced the tracking of the Centurion’s “Eagle’s Fury” and “Eagle’s Talon”.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused soldiers to interrupt the Centurion while he was using “Out of Lock” attacks on Minions.

[Bug Fix] The Centurion could soft feint a guardbreak into a “Fuscina Ictus”. This is now fixed.

[Bug Fix] The Centurion “Charged Jab” move did not knock down the opponents. This is now fixed.

[Bug Fix] Added a missing sound effect when the Centurion pulls his sword out during a finish kill and does not perform an execution.

Gladiator

[Improvement] Reduced the tracking of the Gladiator’s “Sprint Attack” and “Crowd Pleaser”.

[Bug Fix] When the opponent dodged the “Bamboozle” too early, the punch would hit the opponent without contact. This is now fixed.

[Bug Fix] Added a missing sound effect for the Highlander’s “Fomorian Kick”.

Shaman

[Improvement] Removed Uninterruptible Stance property from the first 100ms of “Predator’s Mercy”. “Predator’s Mercy” will now be properly interrupted if another player hits the victim within 100ms of Predator’s Mercy hitting.

[Improvement] Opponent who stands up after “Predator’s Mercy” can now activate Revenge 300 earlier after being bitten, and 500ms earlier when standing up from an external Hit.

[Improvement] A Shaman who is hit at the very end of the stand-up of “Predator’s Mercy” (after the Bite) will now play a regular hit reaction, rather than the special hit animation that we used when she has yet to stand up.

[Bug Fix] ”Predator’s Mercy” Bite no longer counts as a “Light” in the list of previous hits shown in the “Killer Info”.

[Bug Fix] Can no longer perform “Predator’s Mercy” on an opponent who just died.

[Bug Fix] Fixed the “Predator’s Mercy” incorrectly affecting the snapping while the opponent is bleeding.

[Bug Fix] When Out Of Stamina, Shaman can no longer Dodge or guardbreak out of a Heavy Finisher.

[Bug Fix] Priority of cancels from Heavy Finisher to Dodge and guardbreak has been swapped. Now, guardbreak is higher priority than dodge – this should reduce the flicker of the icon.

[Bug Fix] Fixing an animation bug that occurred while feinting the Shaman’s heavy pounce attacks.

[Bug Fix] Shaman’s ”Woosh” sound effect continued after cancelling the second heavy. This is now fixed.

Aramusha

[Improvement] Increased the damage of “Fury Unleashed” to 30 (from 25).

[Improvement] Adding Uninterruptible Stance property to Fury Unleashed.

[Improvement] Increased the damage of “Twin Vipers” to 40 (from 35).

[Improvement] Increased the damage of “Ring the Bell” to 15 (from 10).

[Improvement] Increased the Stamina damage of “Ring the Bell” to 20 (from 10).

[Improvement] Increased the damage of the Basic Side Heavy Attack to 30 (from 25).

[Improvement] Reduced the start up of the Basic Top Heavy strike to 600ms (from 700ms).

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that prevented Aramusha from becoming unbalanced when an opponent in “Revenge” parries his “Twin Vipers”.

[Bug Fix] The Aramusha could be guardbroken out of a right side light attack. This is now fixed.

Maps:

Viking Village

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issues that caused the “Barrel Trap” to not execute the Shaman and the Aramusha.

Tribute:

[Improvement] Fixed an issue that caused “Friendly Fire” to make players drop the flag.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that cause players to be interruptible while the opponent is interacting with the “Offering”.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that allowed the Players to interact with the “Offering” after placing it in a “Shrine”.

[Bug Fix] Added a missing sound effect during the Win Confirm timer.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused the interaction sound effect to continue playing after being interrupted.

Duel Tournament:

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused some user interface and audio to persist until Faceoff screen while joining a match from the “Deploy Troops” menu.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused the Tournament matchmaking user interface to disappear upon receiving an error of matchmaking time out.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused the “Rank Update” interface to be displayed after a match ends in a Tie.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused some elements of the Tournament Lobby to remain displayed after abandoning a Tournament.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that displayed the wrong player count while matchmaking.

Faction War:

[Improvement] On the end match reward screen, we added an interface to display how players earned their Troops.

Developer Comments:Players earn Troops based on the length of the match and their Score’s rank against the scores of all the players in both teams. We expose these values when you hover over the Troops icon in the end flow to make it more transparent.

[Improvement] Added a weather icons above the territory’s icon and name.

[Improvement] Added an message for Isolated Territory & Capital Territory to clarify that Territories that are not connected to a Capital while be turned over to another Faction once the current Battle is over.

[Improvement] Added an icon to emphasize the selected Player’s Faction.

User Interface:

[Bug Fix] Fixed a case that might have caused the user to join a match in progress and remain in stuck Tactical View for the whole game.

[Bug Fix] Player is not redirected back to the Events Playlist after pressing the “Back” button from the Faction War Tactical View invoked from Events Playlist. This is now fixed.

[Bug Fix] Fixed Map Overview while in match for some game modes that were not displaying the correct info.

PC:

Dynamic Reflections quality selection

Replaced the current “Dynamic Reflection” toggle with a quality selection box. Available options are: Off, Low, Medium, High, & Extreme.

[Bug Fix] Fixed an issue that caused the game to start without focus when display option is set to “Windowed” or “Borderless Windowed”.

[Bug Fix] While modifying the game settings, the “Apply Changes” pop up is not displayed if the payer leaves the menu by going directly to the Social tab.

[Bug Fix] Fixed the mouse clickable area of the Tab switch interaction for Duel, Brawl & Events Playlists.

So that’s what you can expect to see changed in the coming week. Happy with the patch notes? Let us know.

Ubisoft Reveals Rainbow Six Siege Stats, Confirms That Guns Do Indeed Kill People

Over on the official Rainbow Six Siege Twitter account, Ubisoft posted an infographic which shows the different ways players have died, and which causes of death have been the most common.

Tracking since the beginning of the Blood Orchid season, it’s unsurprising to see that bullets were responsible for the majority of deaths. However, 0.1% of players died to the sledgehammer, which is pretty damn brutal!

Take a look at the infographic below:

What’s your favorite way of killing enemy players in Rainbow Six Siege? Let us know.

Destiny 2 Future Updates to Include Eververse Changes, Crucible 6v6, Private Matches & More

Following yesterday’s tease, Bungie has published a “Development Update” for Destiny 2. This update offers a look at what content is planned for the game, both in the short term, and the long term (up until Fall 2018).

Bungie wants to make it clearer “which categories of content are available to everyone each Season, and which are exclusive to Destiny 2 Expansions.”

Eververse, a common target for player criticism, is getting tweaked:

Eververse

We recognize that the scales are tipped too far towards Tess at the moment, and Eververse was never intended to be a substitute for end game content and rewards. So, we’ll be making three changes for upcoming Seasons:

  • We’re shifting the balance of new content in favor of activity rewards over Bright Engrams. This includes adding Ghosts, Sparrows, and ships (to date found only in Bright Engrams) to achievement reward pools.
  • We’ll provide a gameplay path to earn Bright Engrams and all contained rewards (including Event Engrams).
  • We’ll give players more direct purchase options and make adjustments to Bright Engrams to allow players to get the items they want more often.

Players will begin to see these changes during the Crimson Days event, which begins on February 13. Following that, Eververse will be further tweaked on the way into Season 3.

Bungie is still looking at the rate at which XP is earned:

We are still investigating changes to XP earn rates. Our goal with any updates to XP are transparency and consistent XP gain regardless of your preferred activity. Right now, it’s too slow in general and lopsided towards grinding specific activities (which is not a fun grind) and we want to fix that without making those activities low value to players who aren’t grinding them (fairness is cool). Our first attempt turned out to be unworkably buggy so we’re having to investigate other angles. We will continue to update you as we move forward.

Finally there’s the roadmap of free content. This is split into changes coming on January 30, improvements to be made in February, then in Spring 2018, and finally Fall 2018 (or earlier).

January 30 Update

Masterwork Armor

We are expanding the Masterwork system to include armor.

Masterwork Armor provides increased damage reduction while using your Super.

You can reroll the armor stat type on Masterwork Armor, and similar to Masterwork weapons, you can upgrade a piece of armor to Masterwork by spending Masterwork Cores and Legendary Shards.

Raid Reward Rework

We are updating Raid rewards to make them more unique and interesting. They will now feature mods with Raid-specific perks, and we are adjusting the rewards to ensure a Raid item drops from each major encounter. The Raid vendor will also directly sell Leviathan and Eater of Worlds armor and weapons for purchase with Raid tokens and Legendary Shards.

We are also adding a new Ghost with Raid-specific perks that has a chance to drop from the Leviathan and Eater of Worlds final encounters. We intend to return to creating more Raid and other activity-unique rewards in the future.

February Update

Strike Scoring + High Score Tracking

Strike Scoring is coming to Nightfall and replacing the current time limit mechanic. The scoring is similar to the Destiny 1 system but with adjustments to emphasize competitive execution of Strike objectives and support for player selectable score modifiers. In February, Nightfall High Scores will be exposed in-game via new emblems and will unlock rewards. We also have plans for Clan and Community High Scores in the works.

Mods 2.0

Work is underway on a full rework of armor and weapon mods. This will focus on reducing redundant mods, more unique theming, and greatly increasing their impact on your power. We are aiming for a February release, but the scope of the rework could push parts or all of it out to early spring. We will be evaluating how Mods play into the Bright Engram economy as a result, because we’re sensitive to pay-to-win outcomes.

Quickplay Improvements

We are adjusting game mode rules to increase the pace of gameplay and power ammo acquisition in Quickplay.

PC Tower Chat

We are adding text chat to the Tower for the PC version of the game.

Exotic Repetition Reduction

This will prevent players from receiving the same Exotic twice in a row. You may still receive duplicates, just not consecutively.

Fireteam Members on Destination Map

You will finally be able to see the other members of your fireteam on the destination map. No more having to ask your fireteam where they went when they fast travel to another landing zone.

Spring 2018

We’re taking the time we need in development of Expansion 2 that will allow us to react to player feedback from Curse of Osiris. In the coming months, we’ll talk to you more about what you can expect to find in Destiny 2’s next story. The team is eager to show you what they’ve been working on.

Independent of Expansion 2, the team will deliver a number of new features that will be released before or during Season 3. Every player of Destiny 2 will receive new content in the following categories…

Crucible

We want to give players new reasons to play, more variety, and balance improvements. Spring will bring a number of exciting and long awaited features to the Crucible.

Crucible Rank

Beginning with Season 3 we will introduce Seasonal Crucible Ranks. There will be two different ranks for players to pursue:

Valor – A progression rank that goes up as you complete matches. Winning helps you move up faster, but there are no loss penalties.

Glory – A progression rank that goes up when you win and down when you lose. Performance is how you move up here.

Private Matches

Private Matches are coming to all players of Destiny 2. Players will be able to invite their friends to play on the map and mode of their choosing.

6v6 Playlist

We’re bringing 6v6 PvP to Destiny 2 in addition to the current 4v4 game modes.

Mayhem Event

Mayhem will return as a limited-time event during Season 3 and going forward.

Additional Fixes

We are making some changes to make quitting less common and behind-the-scenes security improvements to help improve the overall Crucible experience.

Additional Highlights

Weapon and Ability Balance Pass

Sandbox adjustments based on player feedback and data from the live game. The Sandbox team will share specific changes as we lead up to Season 3.

Exotic Weapon and Armor Balance Pass

Exotic weapons and armor are receiving a comprehensive design pass to ensure they stand out from the rest of the gear and offer new, exciting, powerful ways to play.

Seasonal Reputation

Specific vendors will now display a Seasonal ranking. Earning reputation will unlock unique Seasonal rewards and will reset each Season.

Improved Iron Banner and Faction Rallies

In addition to the changes that you will see when Iron Banner and Faction Rallies return this month, we will continue iterating on these to make them unique, exciting experiences that you all look forward to.

Playlist Repetition Reduction

This feature solves the problem of experiencing the same playlist entry multiple times in consecutive or frequent succession for both Crucible and Strikes.

End Game Player Pursuits

We agree with your feedback on the imbalance between Achievement and Bright Engram rewards, and we will be making adjustments to shift more rewards into specific endgame pursuits instead of generic XP grinding for Bright Engrams. We are excited to share the details as soon as we have them worked out.

Multi-Emote

When multi-emote launches, you will be able to choose which emote you have equipped to each of your four emote slots.

Vault space

We are targeting an additional 50 slots to player vaults. We don’t believe just adding more space is a complete solution and are actively working on other changes to reduce load on your vault space.

We are adding an Exotic accessory tab to Vault collections so you will no longer need to spend Vault space on Exotic Ships, Sparrows, and Ghosts.

PC Clan Chat

In addition to the Tower chat that is targeted for February, we are adding clan chat to the PC version of the game.

Heroic Strike Changes

We’ll be introducing modifiers to add more gameplay variety to the experience.

Fall 2018 (or sooner)

We are working on a lot more that we’re not quite ready to discuss. Expect more on this small sample of items in the future:

Item Collections and Records

Weapon Slot and Archetype Improvements

Additional Crucible Playlists (e.g. Rumble)

Better Clan Rewards

Masterwork Exotics

Pinnacle Weapon and Gear Improvements

Trials of the Nine improvements

Shaders and dismantling

The Future of Guided Games

Address Solo Vs Fireteam matching

It’s good to see this kind of communication from Bungie, and I’m sure that players will appreciate it. The developer has promised that it will “be talking to [players] more directly, and more often.”

Are you happy to hear about the upcoming changes? Which improvement are you most looking forward to seeing implemented? Let us know.

In other Destiny 2 news, this fan comic pokes fun at Tess Everis’ exploitative nature, the game’s development was apparently rebooted in early 2016, and Bungie has “lots of good info to share” this week.

Call of Duty: WWII Shotgun Buffs and Nerfs Discussed by Sledgehammer, Both Incoming Soon

Continuing the studio’s (suddenly) fantastic communication with the Call of Duty: WWII player base, Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey posted a new topic on Reddit, and talked about the shotguns.

While most assumed a shotgun buff was incoming, it’s actually a mixture of both. Condrey explained why Combat Shotgun is geting a slight nerf, though the M21 Sawed-Off Shotgun is getting some much-needed buff.

Shotties, WWII Expeditionary Force
byu/Mcondrey inWWII

We’re testing a couple things for the Expeditionary Force that I thought you might be interested in hearing about and discussing.

First, we’re looking at a unit range nerf to the Combat Shotgun. We’re close to the sweet spot but weapon balance is literally a matter of micro changes in some cases to get it right for where we, and the community, want it. As a reminder, we had buffed it post launch by +50 units, and we think a nerf of 20 units (net +30 to ship) will place it correctly.

Second, we’ve heard from you, and have seen in the match data, a need to make the M21 Sawed-Off Shotgun a bit stronger. We’re testing out a buff to range and/or reload to help this weapon be more competitive within the primaries.

If shotguns aren’t your thing, Sledgehammer also acknowledged the sprint out times, and will even roll out a Domination XL mode where each kill nets the player 100 points instead of 50. The shotgun tweaks will most likely be part of the planned weapon tuning patch set to be released later this month.

PUBG Xbox One Player Count Passes 3 Million Players, Was the Most Covered Game in December

While there’s a very big chance that we’ll see PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) on the PlayStation 4 sometime soon, the only console version available now is for the Xbox One. Having said that, it seems there’s a lot of PUBG fans jumping into the Xbox One pool!

In a post on the official Xbox site, Microsoft announced that the PUBG Xbox One player count is now at over three million!  Check out the announcement of this achievement below.

Since PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) launched on Xbox One through the Xbox Game Preview program, it’s been awesome to see the excitement and passion on display from the Xbox community. Whether you’re streaming in the HypeZone on Mixer or battling for a chicken dinner with your squad, players on Xbox are helping build and improve the game on console. Today, PUBG Corp. and Xbox are excited to share that through the end of 2017 the PUBG community on Xbox One has already grown to over three million players. Thank you for your incredible support!

Microsoft has also announced that there will be a tips and tricks segment regarding PUBG on Mixer at 3 p.m. PST on January 16 to share tips on inventory management, UX shortcuts, features on the Xbox One controller and more. This will be an on-going series that will aim to assist new and existing players so they can taste the chicken-y flavor of success.

In addition to that, PUBG was the most talked about game by the media in 2017! According to ICO Partners consultant Thomas Bidaux (via Games Industry), over 7,000 articles about PUBG were published last year! Coming in at second place was Destiny 2 with 4,692 articles.

Do you own an Xbox One? Have you bought PUBG yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Don’t forget, there’s a new “Career” feature coming to the Xbox platform, which I’m guessing will involve PUBG in some way.

Overwatch League Had Over 400,000 Viewers in First Day

It’s no secret that people love Blizzard’s Overwatch. And it’s also no secret that a lot of people watch competitive gaming and eSports. Combine the two and you have a recipe for success, and that’s what happened yesterday.

In the first day of the Overwatch League where the Seoul Dynasty took on the Dallas Fuel, over 400,000 people tuned in to watch! This figure was revealed by Twitch Director of Content Marketing, Ben Goldhaber over on Twitter, where he revealed that the peak was at 415,000 viewers.

What’s even more impressive about the Overwatch League viewer numbers is that the matches took place at ungodly EU hours, and it didn’t even include Chinese viewers, anyone watching on the MLG (Major League Gaming) stream, or people watching on the official phone app. Yep, that means there’s a very big possibility that the actual viewer numbers were more — so much more.

Dragon Ball FighterZ Hit Gameplay Showcases His Strength

With Dragon Ball FighterZ set to be released in the upcoming weeks, and an open beta to start very soon, Bandai Namco has once again released a new character trailer to keep the hype for the game going strong.

For this week, we see the legendary assassin from the sixth universe, Hit, receive a trailer showcasing his onslaught and his Time-Skip ability. You can check out said Dragon Ball FighterZ Hit gameplay video below.

From the quick glance of the video provided, it appears that Hit will fight very similar to the anime/manga version of himself. Where you can’t really see his moves thanks to his Time-Skip ability.

Additionally, with the release of the Goku Black and Hit character trailers, this means one thing: a video for Lord Beerus the God Of Destruction for universe 7 shouldn’t be too far away.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to be released on January 26 for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Those who happen to pre-order the game also get early access to some in-game goodies, such as SSB versions of both Goku and Vegeta.

All Battlefield 1 Operations Are Now Open to All Players, No Premium Pass Required (Update)

Update:

I’d like to emphasize that expansion maps will only be available as part of the active Campaign, which change every two weeks as the Operations rotate. (See developer’s comments below for the full details and conditions.)

Original Story:

In what is a surprising move, but definitely appreciated, lead gameplay designer Alex Sulman has announced that Battlefield 1 will receive more free DLC. Previously only available to Premium Pass owners, all players will now be able to experience the game’s new maps via the Operations mode.

Sulman explained the thinking, and specific conditions, behind the free content:

Starting with“Fire & Ice”, Operation Campaigns will be open to all players, always, regardless of the Operations contained. Yes, that means if you have only the base version of Battlefield 1 you will still be able to play Operations that are part of expansions you do not own. Please note the following:

• These maps are only accessible in the Operations mode

• You will not have the weapons, vehicles, or Elites that exist in the corresponding expansions / maps

• You will only be able to access the Operations that are part of the active Campaign i.e. they will change every two weeks as the Operations rotate

Our goal here is to ensure the best chance at the most populated servers we can. We feel opening up the content to all players is the best way to do this. Of course the most complete way to experience this content remains via the Premium Pass which ensures you can play with all of the toys on all of the maps whenever you want.

Sulman also discussed some of the new general changes made to the Operations mode, and what the team is currently looking into:

With regards to other changes, we have reduced the total amount of points required per Operation from 30,000 to 25,000 to help reduce the time investment required and increase the chance at completing an Operation in one go. We will be monitoring this change closely to see if this new score sits at a more appropriate level.

Finally, there are a number of other issues we have heard feedback on that we are investigating solutions for. Some of these are already in the works, but due to the Holiday break, were not quite ready to hit the “Fire & Ice” release. These include:

• Getting close to the score total but not reaching it, so forcing another full Operation just to collect the small remaining score

• The current chance to get a puzzle piece not feeling worth the time investment

• The variety of skins being too familiar and not Operation Campaign specific

These issues are hot on our list and we hope to have news on potential solutions soon.

This should make Battlefield 1 players pretty happy. Newcomers have some new content to play, and veterans will see more populated servers. Good stuff!
