Fortnite Battle Royale Player Count Reaches Over 1 Million on First Day

While Bluehole might still be a little heated up over Epic Games’ Fortnite Battle Royale mode that mimics PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), it seems all that controversy might have worked in Epic’s favor.

According to Epic, the Fortnite Battle Royale player count reached over one million players in its first 24 hours of availability! Yowza!

While Fortnite Battle Royale is free for everyone, this doesn’t make the achievement any less impressive. Will the player base increase or stick? Let’s hope so. We’ve tried it out, so expect impressions from us soon.

There’s a game update that came out with the Fortnite Battle Royale activation to make it free, so check that out. If you’re looking for a PUBG alternative on consoles that isn’t Fortnite, check out our top five video on the console PUBG alternatives you can try.

Ghost Recon Wildlands Ghost War Release Date Announced, New Trailer Features a Class

With the Ghost Recon Wildlands PvP mode called “Ghost War” getting a standalone open beta this past week, some might be wondering when it’ll finally come out. Well, wonder no more! In a press release, Ubisoft has announced that the Ghost Recon Wildlands Ghost War release date is October 10!

Ghost War will be free for all players who own the base game, and it will get regular updates with new content added post-launch.  If you haven’t played Ghost War yet, check out what it’s all about in the official description below.

In Ghost War, two groups of players will take part in a 4v4 team deathmatch experience that builds on the tactical squad play from the main game, where strategy is equally as important as skill. Teams will choose from a roster of varied classes across three categories including Assault, Marksman and Support, fulfilling specific roles on the battlefield as they navigate large-scale open maps and take down their enemies. Using one of the twelve distinct classes, each with their own varied characteristics, weapons, perks and customization options, players will engage with enemies across eight unique maps. Ghost War will also integrate new PvP mechanics, including suppressing fire and sound markers, to create a strategic and intense team-based multiplayer mode.

Ubisoft has also released a new trailer for Ghost War that showcases the Assassin, Sentinel, Diversionist.

Stay tuned to our hands-on impressions of Ghost War coming up this week!

Need for Speed Payback Trailer Proves That It Has Something for Everyone

This new Need for Speed Payback trailer gives a rundown of what players can do in the game’s Fortune Valley setting, and the activities available to budding racers.

Payback players will find themselves “drag racing with the Riot Club against Big Sister and her clan, off-roading against League 73, and even [checking] out the bait crates across the city left by police.”

Upgrade your car at the tune shop, or simply find old scrap chassis and car parts to create a whole new custom car. With Payback being the “biggest open world Need for Speed to date,” you should find heaps of races to run and enemies to thrash.

Welcome to Fortune Valley, where the stakes are always high.

Head out into Liberty Desert, traverse the mountain roads of Mount Providence, cruise around downtown or simply park up and admire the sunset from Silver Canyon. Fortune Valley has it all.

Are you looking forward to drifting down Fortune Valley? Or turning up the heat in a cop chase?

Need for Speed Payback is set to release November 10 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC via Origin. Those who pre-order will get a Platinum Car Pack, which includes the exclusive platinum blue underglow.

While Need for Speed Payback will include a lot of things, it won’t be including any Toyotas. Hungry for another trailer? Check out the gamescom 2017 video here.

World of Tanks on Xbox One X: 4K And “Looks Amazing” but Runs at 30fps

Those wondering how World of Tanks plays on the Xbox One X, will be interested to hear from the game’s technical director, Chris McCue. Speaking with GamingBolt, McCue explained how the upcoming “most powerful console” could be utilized by the game, and how console development is kept separate from PC.

“World of Tanks PC is developed independently from World of Tanks console, so improvements to console hardware won’t have any effect on them.”

He then confirmed that the Xbox One X will be able to render more high-res textures than they’ve ever been able to do before.

“For World of Tanks console, though, the additional memory on the Scorpio gives us the ability to render more higher-resolution textures than we’ve ever been able to do before!”

With World of Tanks Xbox One X 4K support already having been confirmed, the next question was whether the game would run at 60fps. Sadly, McCue confirmed that this wouldn’t be the case.

“The increase in power from the base Xbox One to the Scorpio is a close match for what is required to bring a 1080p game up to 4K, so without significant additional renderer changes it’s not enough to also increase framerate from 30 fps to 60 fps.”

As for how the Xbox One X version will compare to PC, don’t go in anticipating “Ultra” graphics, but instead expect the game to still look amazing.

Will you be playing World of Tanks on Xbox One X?

Overwatch Bug Causes Seasonal Bans and Devastating Skill Rating Loss

Following the game’s free weekend, a rare Overwatch bug has been discovered. This bug causes players to lose their skill rating progress and receive a season ban from Competitive Play.

Over on the Battle.net forums, game director Jeff Kaplan explained what the bug does and how his team is working to fix it:

“We recently identified a bug that, in extremely rare cases, can cause players to lose their skill rating progress and receive a seasonal ban from Competitive Play without any prior penalties for leaving early or being kicked for inactivity. This bug is a high priority for our team, and we’re working on a fix to prevent further instances of it occurring as we speak.

“In the meantime, we’ll be removing the seasonal ban for all players affected by this bug as well as restoring their skill rating. To date, this bug has impacted fewer than 200 accounts, but we’ll continue to monitor for additional occurrences and provide assistance until we can implement a permanent fix. We don’t have an ETA to share right now for when the fix will go live, but we’ll update this thread as soon more information becomes available.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this bug has caused and are grateful for your patience and ongoing reports.”

With fewer than 200 accounts being affected, you’d have to be very unlucky to be hit by this. Happily, it seems Blizzard is working hard to squash it.

Have you or a friend been hit by this rare bug?

PSA: Injustice 2 Update 1.10 Released, But Causes Shaders and Gears Issue

Following Injustice 2’s big October update, NetherRealms has pushed out yet another Injustice 2 update (1.10), though expect another one to roll out again very soon. Why? Well, it seems Injustice 2 update 1.10 is causing issues with the game’s items; particularly, the shaders and gears.

Over on Reddit, a user has posted a message to other Injustice 2 gamers to “DO NOT UPDATE YOUR GAME,” which explains that his items have gone missing after the 1.10 update.

I just updated my game on ps4. My only character I had not learned to level 20 was scarecrow. I had lots o gear and mother boxes and the update that was just put out DELETED ALL ITEMS… I have no gear no mother boxes or anything now

If anyone could please upvote it would be greatly appreciated. NRS needs to see it on the front page

Edit: Did anyone else get this? I’m so upset and I haven’t seen any issues from others. Also, can somebody link something like customer support

Edit 2: I relaunched and restarted and stuff is slowly appearing. Now every hero has about 7 items back. No shaders or abilities yet but it is working

Edit 3: you don’t lose abilities from leveling up or character levels it seems but I don’t yet know about rng abilities

The official Injustice 2 Twitter account has acknowledged the situation and is currently investigating the situation.

Once NetherRealm issues another game update or a statement on the situation, we’ll update the post.

Street Fighter V Update 1.13 Kicks Out, Adds New Stage, Halloween Costumes & More

There’s a Street Fighter V update out now (1.13), and it adds a slew of new content to the fighting game. Clocking in at just 6.6GB on the PlayStation 4, the title update will add new costumes for fighters, and a remake of Cammy’s SF2 stage.

The paid costumes are 13 in total and range from Halloween outfits, to school-themed costumes for Cammy, Bison, Chun-Li, Menat and more. Each of the outfits retail for $4 each (ouch!), and there’s also last year’s Halloween costumes for sale, too. The remade stage called “English Manor” is also for sale for $4. These items can also be bought by Fight Money, so if you have some lying around, then you can splurge on new outifts.

If there’s game balances or tweaks, we’ll update the post to list them down once Capcom announces them.

Sony Not Interested in PS Vita 2, Cites Smartphones as the “Determining Factor”

If you’re looking forward to another Sony handheld gaming device after the PlayStation Vita, then you’ll be in for a long wait. Andrew House, Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, just shot down any chance of that happening.

In an interview with Bloomberg, House mentioned that Sony is focusing on more content and services for the PS4 instead of pouring resources into a PS Vita 2, or whatever you want to call the company’s next handheld device. House adds that there wasn’t a huge demand for the Vita outside Japan and Asia.

The Vita experience was that outside of Japan and Asia, there was not a huge demand. The lifestyle shift toward the dominance of smartphones as the single key device that is always with you, was the determining factor.

Does that mean the Nintendo Switch won’t have any competition from Sony? It sure seems that way, as House even says that he doesn’t see it as  a”huge market opportunity.”

The Nintendo device is a hybrid device and that’s a different approach and strategy. We have not seen that as being a huge market opportunity. That draws me to the conclusion that they’ve really been additive to the business in the last year or so. We remain focused around a highly connected gaming experience and also coupled with having a great range of other entertainment experiences so you can reach multiple people on the big screen in the household.

Given the Vita’s drop-off in sales and mindshare in the US, House statements aren’t really surprising. Still, it would have been nice to have some sort of PS4 portable hybrid that’d let people play console games on the go.

Are you shocked at all by this? Do you think Sony should attempt another gaming handheld one more time or should they focus on smartphones for portable gaming?

Star Wars Battlefront II Beta Details Confirmed & Trailer, PC System Requirements Revealed

With Star Wars Battlefront II due to launch November 17, EA has provided an update on how to get access to the Beta, which goes live October 6-9 across all platforms. These official details follow the leaked information found on Reddit a few weeks ago.

Those pre-ordering Star Wars Battlefront II before September 30 will gain two days early access to the beta starting October 4. Pre-ordering through Origin, PlayStation Store, or the Xbox Store, will grant you automatic access to the beta, while physical retailers will provide a code.

Starting October 6, the beta will open up to everyone, and it will be downloadable through the platform specific stores.

Eager to find out more information and the PC system requirements? Here’s the full FAQ:

What is a Beta? What parts of the game can I play?

A Beta is a large-scale test where we invite players to play specific parts of a pre-release version of a game. For you, a Beta is often your first chance to get hands-on with an upcoming title; for us it’s a way to learn how the game behaves across a wide range of hardware and to test the stability of our servers.
Of course, we also want you to have fun, and we always want and appreciate your feedback.
To reach as many players as possible, the Star Wars Battlefront II Beta is open to players on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
We’ll have more details on what parts of the game you can play, and which languages will be available closer to the start date.

When is the Star Wars Battlefront II Beta?

The open Beta for Star Wars Battlefront II runs from October 6-9, 2017.
If you’ve pre-ordered you get 2 days early access to the Beta and can play from October 4.

How do I get access to it?

To get early access to the Beta (from October 4), pre-order Star Wars Battlefront II before September 30, 2017.

    • If you pre-ordered through Origin, the PlayStation®Store, or the Xbox Store you’re all set.
    • If you pre-ordered from a retailer, contact them if you haven’t got your code before early access starts. You need to redeem this code to download the beta client.

From October 6, you don’t need a code to join the Beta, you can download the Beta client through Origin, the PlayStation®Store, and Xbox Store.

    • Just download the client, log in, and start playing.

Does my progress in the Beta carry over to the main game?

No, it doesn’t. We want everyone to start on a level playing field at launch, whether they have been able to take part in the Beta or not, so we’re resetting all progress after the Beta.

Is there an Alpha test? Can I take part in that too?

We did have a very limited Alpha test, but that has now ended. We’re excited to open testing up to more players, and looking forward to your feedback.

Here’s a trailer accompanying the news:

Those playing on PC will want to make sure that the minimum PC system requirements are met, with recommended being preferred.

Destiny 2 Faction Token Farm Location, Rank up as Quickly as Possible

This Destiny 2 Faction Token farm location can be used to earn six tokens every minute or so. This should help Guardians rank up the faction leaders, as well as contribute to their team’s overall success in the Faction Rally. Faction-specific rewards await those who nab these tokens, and you can end up getting some pretty awesome kit!

Here’s what you need to do via Reddit user “T1gigz”:

  • Load “Lost Oasis” on the planet Io
  • Go to the Lost Sector directly on your left
  • Run through and shoot the 6 crates
  • Rinse and repeat

NoteWe’d personally recommend only shooting the boxes in the first room, before exiting out and running back in. Repeat the first room’s boxes over and over again!

And here’s a video demonstration showing you the crate locations and how to farm optimally:

Pretty useful, huh? Which faction will you be ranking up?

In other Destiny 2 news, the weekly reset has just happened, bringing new milestones, a refreshed Nightfall Strike, Eververse items, and more! Also, following yesterday’s scheduled maintenance, a new update hit the game. Here are the patch notes.

Fortnite PS4 Update 1.19 Now Live With Patch Notes, Go Experience Fortnite Battle Royale For Free

A new Fortnite PS4 update is now live. This 1.6GB patch introduces the new free “Battle Royale” mode, as well as a plethora of other fixes.

Here’s the full list of patch notes:

BATTLE ROYALE (PVP)

SQUADS

New Duos and Squad match types have been added, alongside Solos.  Play in groups of 2 or up to 4 and fight to eliminate all the other teams!

  • Invite friends to play on your team using the in-game Friends List.
  • Use the “Fill” option to automatically fill your team with other players.
  • When your health falls to zero you’ll be “down but not out” (DBNO).  Your squadmates only have a short amount of time to revive you before your health bar drains.
  • You can see your team members’ status on the HUD, including Health and Shields.
  • Use the map to place location markers which are visible to your team and will display on the compass at the top of the HUD.  Keep an eye out for markers from your squad!
