Destiny 2 Clan Features Won’t Be Available Until “Several Days After Launch”

As Destiny 2 begins to launch across the world, we’re just now learning that the game’s in-game clan features won’t be available at launch. They are expected to absent for the “first several days after launch.”

The delay was confirmed on Twitter:

Sad news for groups of gamers looking to start earning clan bonuses right away. Here’s hoping it’s implemented quickly, as players won’t be happy missing out on bonus engrams, and other goodies.

Here’s a rundown of what being in a clan can net you:

Aside from the obvious benefits of forging new alliances, clan benefits include:

A Clan Banner

If you join a clan, you’ll finally have something to put in that final gear slot. Assist your clan to unlock special Clan Banner Perks for your Guardian.

Clan Rewards

If your clan members complete a specified endgame activity (such as a Nightfall Strike), every member of the clank receives an engram. Just head to Hawthorne and claim your not-so-hard-earned reward.

A Weekly Milestone

Not ready to tackle endgame content? You don’t need to be the best to be an asset. Experience earned by every member goes toward unlocking new Clan Banner Perks, and every member receives a new Milestone encouraging them to do so.

Guided Games

Lead interested Guardians through endgame content. Success will boost your Clan’s Oathkeeper’s Score.

Will you be using the Destiny 2 clan features?

PUBG Sales Top Over 10 Million Units Sold

While we’ve reported about how successful Bluehole’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has been before, the game has reached yet another milestone! Just three weeks ago, we mentioned that PUBG sales are over seven million, and now, that number has been smashed and how.

In a post on Twitter by the official PUBG account, it’s been revealed that PUBG sales numbers are now at over 10 million sold! That’s 10 million sales for a game that’s not technically really out yet.

It’s not really needed, but congrats, Bluehole! May more merciless milestones be further met!

In other PUBG news, check out how we fare when we play it on PC using an Xbox One game pad. Speaking of PUBG and Xbox, read up on Microsoft’s expanded partnership with Bluehole right here.

Gearbox Hints 90 Percent of Studio Is Working on Borderlands 3

Following the relative strings of disappointments with Aliens: Colonial Marines and Battleborn, developer Gearbox Software needs a hit real bad, and what better way to do that than with the studio’s most lucrative franchise, Borderlands, and the long-awaited sequel, Borderlands 3.

While no official announcement has been made, the hints are as subtle as an anvil falling on someone’s head to remind them that Borderlands 3 is a big deal. During an “Inside Gearbox Software” panel at PAX West, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford teased the audience with some Borderlands 3 hints.

Pitchford mentioned in the panel that he knows many people in the audience are there because they’re big fans of the Borderlands franchise. He also gave up mentioned that 90 percent of the studio’s productive capability is “working on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on.”

Pitchford adds that “A product does not exist until it’s announced,” and refrained from saying more since he could get in trouble with certain people. So, maybe it’s not Borderlands 3 but Colonial Marines 2? Just kidding!

Would you want to play Borderlands 3? Or has Gearbox burned through any goodwill the franchise has gotten them with Colonial Marines and Battleborn?

Call of Duty: WWII Beta Impressions – This Is War

With the Call of Duty: WWII private beta finally coming to a close earlier today, and after pouring in hours playing it, it’s time we weigh in on what we think of this year’s Call of Duty so far. Bear in mind that this is indeed a beta, and as such, things will change in the final version that might make some of the things mentioned here either irrelevant, or different from our experience playing it. Sledgehammer themselves have already listed down a few things that will change from the beta to the final version of the game.

Everything Old Is New Again

First off, Sledgehammer Games is, for better or for worse, breaking free from the “Pick 10” customization system popularized by Treyarch. Instead of mixing and matching perks, weapon attachments and the like, you can now choose a “Division” and a “Basic Training” skill. It does seem simpler than in past Call of Duty games, and maybe that’s Sledgehammer’s point.

However, it remains to be seen if this Divisions system will be deep enough to give each player the way they want to play. Will Basic Training have another tier (Advance Training?? Will we be able to equip more than one (chances are nope). While the beta cap was set at a relatively high 35, it still wasn’t enough to give us a firmer sense of whether this new take on class customization will be a step in the right direction.

It might seem like a counterproductive move by Sledgehammer, but old-school Call of Duty fans will remember that in past entries, you can only choose one perk from each perk slot, have a few attachments and that was it. It wasn’t as crazy customizable as the Pick 10 system, and this might be what Sledgehammer is going for. That said, newcomers might feel a little off and restricted. Let’s hope Sledgehammer has enough Basic Training and customization options to allow gamers to play the way they want to.

Chocolate Sauce 360 No-Scope With Some SMG on the Side

After hours of playing Domination and War (COD: WWII’s new mode, which we’ll talk about in a sec), a few things have been made crystal clear when it comes to gun balancing, weapon variants, etc. Firstly, it goes without saying that we didn’t see the full slate of weapons and equipment that’ll be available in the game. However, having said that, unless Sledgehammer heavily tweaks the gunplay, it might not matter.

In the private beta, matches were dominated by people using SMGs, with the War mode being a sniper’s paradise. That’s essentially it. You won’t see a lot of assault rifle users since SMGs will melt them face up, and don’t get me started on the LMGs (light machineguns). They are slow to aim, slow to reload, doesn’t do enough damage, and the list goes on. It’s like LMGs are a poor man’s assault rifle, and with the “Sleight of Hand” perk (the one that lets you reload fast) now sectioned off as a “Basic Training” ribbon, you’re now forced to pick that unless you’re OK having to wait a long time in between reloads and be a sitting duck. It’s gotten to the point that I rarely see anyone use an LMG regardless of game mode, and I don’t blame them. I tried it, and it just made the game slower, clunkier, and just annoying. Sledgehammer has not said anything if LMGs will be buffed come November, but man, that should be a no-brainer.

Another problem I encountered? Quickscoping. Quickscoping is back and with a vengeance. Even if you’re not a good sniper, try using the Commonwealth sniper weapon and see how easy it is to one-shot anyone. Sure, some might be happy with this change given it lends itself a lot to montages, but for the others? Prepare to get annoyed repeatedly.

More Call of Duty:: WWII Reading:

Other than those qualms though, everything seemed in line. There wasn’t one weapon that was the “god” gun that everyone gravitated tom but almost every gun seemed to be a tool of destruction in the right hands. Equipment, grenades are spot-on as well. The blast radius and damage aren’t too significant, nor are they fart bombs that do nothing but annoy people. Having to choose whether to carry a tactical grenade or anti-infantry ‘nade is a bit limiting though. Sure, you can use a Basic Training to circumvent this, but I really doubt anyone would settle on that little boost given the other Basic Training skills are way better.

Lastly, unless I’m mistaken, your teammates’ concussion grenades affect you as well. I don’t think it’s just me, either. This needs to go, Sledgehammer! It needs to go ASAP.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCDqobbLe8U

War on the Battlefield

The biggest addition to Call of Duty: WWII isn’t the tweaks to the Pick 10 system, nor is the era-specific weapons. Nope. The biggest change Sledgehammer implemented in COD: WWII is a new game mode called “War,” and it just might be what gives the game that extra push into “must-try” status.

Think of War as Call of Duty’s take on DICE’s Battlefield’s Conquest and Rush modes if the two rolled into one for each match. It’s a six-on-six match that has one side defending, with the other attacking. Regardless of the outcome, teams switch sides and when the match ends, each player’s overall stats are calculated minus the deaths (thankfully!). It’s hectic, objective-based, scorestreaks are deactivated, no kill/death ratio is present, which pushes you to work as a team — in short: it’s the anti-thesis of what Call of Duty multiplayer is! But boy, does it work! Sure, you have your usual kill-whores that do not care about the objective, there’s some spotty map design that could prove game-breaking when seasoned players dip their toes in for a long time, but for the most part, it works.

If you ever thought that Call of Duty relied on the scorestreak meta-game to be fun, then this is proof that it doesn’t need to. There are no scorestreaks in War, you have to build walls, turrets and more to help your team, and that’s it. There’s no virtual dick-waving of having the most kills, and deaths are an afterthought if you want to win. For me personally, I played this mode the most and there’s only one map available in the beta even! I wouldn’t be surprised if this mode is carried over in other non-Sledgehammer developed COD games.

Split in the Middle

Sledgehammer is in the unenviable position of if they stick too close to the COD formula, people will complain and say they just copy and pasted another studio’s work. However, if they deviate too much (which is what they seemed to do in COD: WWII), then longtime fans will complain that they’re deviating too much from what works.

So far though, I enjoyed what I played in the beta. Sure, there’s more for improvements when it comes to map design (almost every Call of Duty game has this issue), but Sledgehammer gave the COD brand a much-needed wake up call — especially after three straight futuristic iterations.

The big question here is: will Call of Duty fans buy whatever Sledgehammer is selling? We can’t say for sure, but for me, if the studio can keep the progression fresh, have more depth in how Divisions and Basic Training work, and maybe give weapon tweaking a fair look, then they’re on the right path to win the war.

Stay tuned for our videocast final impressions of the Call of Duty: WWII private beta sometime tomorrow, as well as more features on the game in the days and weeks to come.

LawBreakers DLC Roadmap Includes New Maps, Classes, Features and More

While Boss Key Production’s LawBreakers is having quite a rough time in its first month of release, the studio is still hiking on with content for the fast-paced first-person shooter.

In a tweet by the official LawBreakers account, it teased the LawBreakers DLC roadmap by showing an image of the planned content drop, which will be revealed later this week.

In case you can’t see the image, it reads “New Maps (Namsan/Gateway), New Features (Skirmishes), Ranked Mode (Boss Leagues), New Class, +More (Rapid Fire Updates.” These are all, of course, free for everyone who owns the game. Included in this big content drop are new stash-drop items, “iterative features” and game updates.

Hopefully, this revitalizes the game’s player base. Will it be enough though? Let’s hope this it is.

We also published a video feature on the five reasons why we think LawBreakers has failed.

Microsoft: You’ll See First Games With Xbox Mouse and Keyboard Support “Soon”

While we’ve posted on our first look at mouse controls working on the Xbox One, it seems we’ll get to use it in real-world conditions very soon. During a panel at PAX West, Xbox Platform CVP Mike Ybarra talked about Xbox mouse and keyboard support, and what he said was very, very intriguing.

Keyboard and mouse support is definitely coming. We have to be very smart in how we do that. We’ll leave it a lot up to developer choice. A lot of people tweet me and say “you can’t do this because of fairness,” and we understand that. We run two platforms; the Xbox platform, and the Windows platform.

And so, when we bring keyboard and mouse, we’ll coach developers and say “look, you’ve got to think about your multiplayer pools, if you have a competitive game, people are probably going to want the choice to say I’ll play with other keyboard and mouse people or I’ll play only with controller people, or that I’ll play with any of those.

So you’ll see our first games supporting keyboard and mouse soon, I can’t announce what that is, but soon. And based on developer interest, they’ll choose to do keyboard and mouse, or not!

You can watch a snippet of Ybarra talking about it in the video below.

As we’ve mentioned in our previous report on this, the game Ybarra’s most likely referring to is Minecraft. Of course, that’s but the start, but this will definitely a case where developers will want to step in and maybe separate the playlists as to not frustrate those who grew up gaming on a controller. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with that. Play or use the controller that you want.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds AFK Farming Targeted With Fix, Confirmed as Something Bluehole “Will Definitely Be Addressing”

As the real-world prices of rare PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds loot keep on rising, the more desperate players are becoming. We’ve already reported on the latest PUBG craze, which involves many players going AFK (away from keyboard) to grind out a currency called Battle Points. These Battle Points can then be used to purchase crates, which may contain a rare item.

Well, it looks like AFK farmers’ days are numbered, as Bluehole’s producer confirmed in an interview with PC Gamer, that it’s something the development team “will definitely be addressing.”

As for how the team will fix PUBG AFK farming, well the producer suggested that how players earn Battle Points may change, or that AFK players may be prevented “as a whole.”

You can watch the full response here:

It’s going to interesting to see how Bluehole does end up solving the AFK problem, and how soon the fix comes to the game.

What do you make of PUBG AFK farming?

In other PUBG news, a rare costume sold for $1,670. Nope, that wasn’t a typo!

Report: Destiny 2 Loot Caches Detailed, Here’s What They Contain

Fighting bad guys wouldn’t be much fun without the promise of loot. Happily, Destiny 2 chests are very much a thing, and opening up these loot caches will grant you the rewards you desire. Thanks to an early look at a Destiny 2 game guide, we now know of five different chest types, and what to expect inside of them.

All of this information was shared by Reddit user “namasuki”, who has managed to secure an early copy of the Destiny 2 GameStop guide.

Enemy Chest

These chests are the most plentiful across the four World Regions. They are stashes collected by a particular enemy, so a cache may have a particular look to it… Only very few of these [chests] are active at any one time, so they won’t appear in every location. A single Enemy Chest also becomes active and is awarded as a prize once you complete a Patrol…

Region Chest

These gold-colored chests are scattered across every Public Sector, hidden away cunningly and requiring a modicum of searching to find. Expect higher-value items (compared to an Enemy Chest) when you open one. They can only be access once by your Guardian. If you need some additional equipment, this is a quick and easy way to find some…

Lost Sector Chest

These locked chests are specifically located inside a Lost Sector. To open one, you must first defeat the Elite enemy (and optionally, his minions) within the Lost Sector. After that, the key is looted, and you can open the chest. They can be looted multiple times (if you complete a foe removal sweep of the Lost Sector), though the quality of the items isn’t as valuable after the first looting. Expect weekly resetting loots for this chest type…

Elite (And Boss) Chest

Some Majors that periodically appear in Public Sectors (due to a Secret Public Event) drop a Loot Cache. These hold valuable items, which you can grab at the conclusion of the event. This type of chest also appears when you’ve slain a particularly troublesome foe, usually at the end of a mission (like an Adventure or a Strike). Grab what you can from it before the mission concludes.

Location Spoilers Beginning

Treasure Chest

Once you’ve completed the Campaign Missions and have obtained access to the Tower, you can visit Cayde-6. Under certain conditions, he offers you treasure maps to a number of chest locations, and each is static. The number of chests that you receive from Cayde-6 depends on what Bungie allows. Find a chest through the clues Cayde-6 gives you, and return with the items. This is endgame content…

Location Spoilers End

Keep an eye out for any Destiny 2 chests you see on your adventures. You wouldn’t want to miss out on what’s inside!

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Costume Sells for $1670, Price Still Trending Upwards

Previously, it was a $600 purple skirt that was causing us to question the sanity of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players. Now it turns out that $600 isn’t too crazy, when compared to the $1,670 one player spent on the “PLAYERUNKNOWN SET” in-game costume!

The purchase was made on September 1, as shown below.

The PLAYERUNKNOWN SET was first available as a pre-order bonus for PUBG‘s Deluxe Edition. It was stated in the pre-order description that the set would only be available through the Deluxe Edition: “These skins will only be obtainable by pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition. They can later be marketable on the Steam Community Market.”

The Deluxe Edition was priced at $39.99, a mere $10 more than the Standard Edition.

The insanity doesn’t stop there, for the price is actually trending upwards, with the two current sellers asking for above $1,700. Of course, they’ll have to find willing buyers, which could be tricky, as the highest offer is currently $1,257.36.

Those are some expensive in-game threads! What do you make of all this?

Call of Duty: WWII Beta Update 1.03 Rolling Out

A new Call of Duty: WWII beta update is rolling out. Patch version 1.03 aims to make some final improvements before the console beta ends. (However, some are expecting the trial to be extended, so hold tight for more information.)

Following the update, no new content seems to have been added, nor has the “News” message changed. It still reads:

See you soon!

We’re down to the last days of our Private Multiplayer Beta, and we want to thank everybody for participating. We hope you enjoyed getting a taste of Call of Duty: WWII. There’s so much more coming on November 3rd – from new weapons, attachments, and maps to new gear and unlockables – and we’re excited for you to experience it all!

If you haven’t already pre-ordered, head over to the Store tab or your favorite retailer to pre-order today. Thanks again for playing!

The patch should, at the very least, help to make the beta as stable as possible for the final hurrah.

Did you manage to give the Call of Duty: WWII beta a try? What are your final thoughts?

Here are the latest changes Sledgehammer Games is considering before launch

Call of Duty: WWII Possible Map Changes, Weapon Tweaks & More Being Considered

Sledgehammer Games’ Michael Condrey has once again taken to Reddit to discuss possible changes coming to Call of Duty: WWII. Condrey and his team have been monitoring players closely, both in-game and externally. The Call of Duty community has always been very vocal about what they love and hate, and the beta has provided a great opportunity for useful feedback to be gathered.

Here are the latest changes that Sledgehammer Games is considering:

  • As you know, we added a new mode to the Mosh Pit playlist – Kill Confirmed. For those of you who haven’t yet played, we encourage you to hop in and try it out! Mosh brings all of the fan favorite modes, now including KC. Its a great boots on the ground game mode, and the match data we’re getting is really helpful. So please be sure to spend some time in Mosh today.
  • We’ve also noticed a number of you commenting that raising the PT score to 100 for TDM might be sub optimal. This was a community ask, and it felt like a good time to compare it to weekend one. We’ve spent nearly 3 years playing, and 75 felt better to us. By the end of weekend 2, we’re looking to lock the decision, so please let us know your thoughts.
  • Some of you have expressed concern about the range play needed for the Aachen map. Personally, I enjoy Aachen within the larger map rotation we play at SHG. That said, we’re listening and may make some map changes as a result. Thanks again for staying constructive, it really helps!
  • Many of you have commented that you love the changes we’ve made to sprint-out to ADS times. We’re glad we were able to improve this and that you’re enjoying it much more. We’re talking about flinch tuning as well, though we don’t have anything concrete to share yet.
  • The M1928 is getting a lot of love. It is one of the most iconic weapons of WWII, and it’s great to see it in match. We’re glad you are enjoying playing with it. It’s a popular SMG at the studio. Though not the most popular. The Airborne Division prestige unlock weapon is pretty gassed.
  • A lot of you have expressed that you love the main menu music. Thank you so much for noticing all the extra creative touches we’ve added. We had a lot of amazing recording sessions with a phenomenal orchestra at a premier symphony location in Nashville. I know they will be glad to hear about all the positive reactions the music is receiving!

If you’ve got any feedback to give, be sure to fill out this survey

Happy with this list of changes? Sad for the beta to end?

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Game Mode to Allow PCs “Full Processing Power” in the Style of a Console

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Game Mode improvements aim to make the tool more useful. With a lot of people experiencing a reduction in gaming performance when using the current version of Game Mode, Microsoft is going to have to do something special.

This time around, Game Mode is being used to make PCs almost console-like, harnessing the full processing power of the system to provide the best possible performance.

“The fuel that often inspires creativity is play. With the Fall Creators Update, we’ve updated Game Mode, which allows your games to use the full processing power of your device as if it was an Xbox game console, right from a new button on the Game bar. And to take advantage of this power, we have a fantastic lineup of Xbox Play Anywhere games coming including, Cuphead, Forza Motorsport 7, Super Lucky’s Tale and Middle-earth: Shadow of War.”

It’ll be interesting to see just how well this works, and you can bet that PC enthusiasts will be rushing to test it out.

Will you be trying out the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Game Mode?

Report: Destiny 2 Grenades Detailed, Five Categories Revealed

Love them or hate them, Destiny 2 grenades are a key element of combat. They either kill enemies outright, or help weaken them for a follow-up attack. We’ve now got more information on how Destiny 2 grenades will work.

All of this info was shared by Reddit user “namasuki”, who has managed to secure an early copy of the Destiny 2 GameStop guide.

While specifics vary, grenades generally fall into at least one of five basic categories:

Seeker grenades produce one or more projectiles that home in on nearby foes. They’re great for blind (or panicked) tosses near a suspected enemy location.

Persistent grenades produce damaging fields or other lasting effects. They’re useful map control tools, perfect for blocking off chokepoints or chasing opponents from strategically important locations.

Blast grenades produce a straightforward explosion. They tend to deal fairly high damage.

Sticky grenades can attach to targets. They take a bit of skill to use, but a well-thrown sticky grenade usually deals considerable damage.

Status grenades afflict enemies with temporary effects. The clearest examples are both found in Titan Subclasses: the Striker’s Flashbang Grenade disorients enemies, and the Sentinel’s Suppressor Grenade prevents enemies from using Abilities.

Some of those grenade types sound like a nightmare for enemy players in PvP. I’m especially not looking forward to the Suppressor Grenade!

Destiny 2 releases on PS4 and Xbox One on September 6. The PC release is scheduled for October 24.

Destiny 2 Microtransactions Confirmed as Silver Returns to the Game

Destiny 2 microtransactions are going to be a thing, as confirmed by a GameStop flyer. Silver was introduced to the original game midway through its release. It was used to purchase cosmetic items and harmless emotes. Of course, a premium currency in a full-priced season-pass-possessing title is bound to cause some controversy. Let’s see how players react to Silver returning to Destiny 2!

You can spy the Silver premium currency at the bottom of the flyer, in the tweet below.

Here are the prices, just in case that text is too small.

  • Destiny 2 Silver: 1000 (+100 Bonus) $9.99
  • Destiny 2 Silver: 2000 (+300 Bonus) $19.99

Citing his early copy of the Destiny 2 GameSpot guide, Reddit user “namasuki” presented more details of “Eververse-specific currency.” (Eververse being the marketplace where Silver and other premium currencies are spent.)

Here’s what little information there is on Bright Dust:

Currency: Bright Dust

Obtained by dismantling items acquired via Bright engrams. Bright Dust is an Eververse-specific currency.

So Destiny 2 microtransactions… How do you feel about them? And what do you make of this “Bright Dust”?

The following information was shared by Reddit user “namasuki”, who has managed to secure an early copy of the Destiny 2 GameStop guide.
