Destiny 2’s Final Mission Puts Players at Maximum Level, An Easy Way to Skip the Grind (No Spoilers)

First things first: This post contains no story spoilers, so fear not!

I’ve just completed Destiny 2‘s final mission. You’re able to start said mission at level 15, and that’s what I did. Once it was all over, I was level 17. Then, after speaking to a few people and tidying up the storyline, I suddenly hit level 20!

Yep, that’s right, simply competing the game will bump you up to the maximum player rank. This is vital information if you’re looking to optimize rewards from vendors and milestone achievements. Hitting level 20 before their completion will ensure any rewards are as powerful as possible. Therefore, I’d recommend prioritizing the campaign, before investing too much time elsewhere. You’ll rank up automatically by the end, and be handed a bunch of loot to increase your Power level.

I won’t say anything more, I just wanted to alert Guardians to the fact that the time spent grinding to level 20, is actually better spent elsewhere.

Hope this helps!

Let me know if you’re playing through Destiny 2, and what your thoughts on the game are.

EVE: Valkyrie Is Joining the Loot Box Bandwagon

Chalk up EVE: Valkyrie as the latest game to join the loot box bandwagon popularized by games such as League of Legends, Overwatch and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

EVE: Valkyrie Lead Game Designer Andy Willans revealed the addition of loot boxes to the space VR shooter in an interview. Thankfully, it’s the usual loot box stuff that’s all about customization and shouldn’t affect gameplay balance at all. Rewards are said to be earned based on how often you win. and on average, players should be getting one every two matches, with better players getting theirs more frequently.

Each capsule (Valkyrie’s loot box equivalent), should have 2-4 items and run the list from customization options, XP buffs, pilot customization and currency. Every item is tiered into rarity as well, with standard items tagged as “Common” and the highest ones called “Epic.”

Will the loot box craze end? I have no idea, but at the very least, this is better than getting players splintered off due to map packs, Season Passes and the like.

While Call of Duty: WWII is set to assault everyone in about a month’s time, last year’s COD game, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, is still very much supported. Speaking of which, an Infinite Warfare title update has just been released on the PlayStation 4.

You can check out the Infinite Warfare update notes below courtesty of Infinity Ward employee “ashtonisVULCAN_IW” who posted it on Reddit.

• Exploit fixes across various maps

• Various backend bug fixes

• VPR: Hip fire kick has been increased to help make it perform inline with other SMGs

PSA: The Division Cheap Dark Zone Consumable Caches Are Available

Those who trawl The Division’s Dark Zone finding things to do, enemies to kill, stashes to loot, don’t forget this little public service announcement (PSA) from Reddit user nzL87 that mentions the cheaper DZ consumable caches and how they can be obtained.

[PSA] Cheaper dz consumables caches from thedivision

For those who can’t read the embedded post, it reads:

If you have a lvl 29 character and your char is dz level 20, you can buy the caches for 1009 dz funds instead of 25000. They also contain the 0-3 dz keys.

Might be best to do this now before Ubisoft discovers it and maybe patches it up.

Don’t forget that a new The Division update is hitting very soon and these are what’s going to be included.

Destiny 2 Crashing Issues Acknowledged by Bungie, Numerous Official Videos Celebrate the Launch

As the game launches on consoles worldwide, some PS4 players are experiencing Destiny 2 crashing issues. Bungie has acknowledged the problem on Twitter, and is using their forums to gather feedback.

Here’s both the tweet and forum post:

We are continuing to investigate this issue. If you have encountered a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 4 Pro Crash, please let us know the following:

Are you playing on a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 4 Pro?
• Have you replaced your consoles storage drive?
• If so, have you replaced it with a Solid State Drive?

If you’re one of the frustrated players being hit with crashes, perhaps these videos can take your mind of it. The first is a truly awesome Destiny 2 “dance trailer,” the second is dedicated to the game’s soundtrack, and the third is a launch message from Bungie. (On second thoughts, maybe these won’t take your mind off the crash issues! Hell, they’ll probably make things even worse… Sorry!)

Elgato Gaming Interview – Empowering Content Creators

If you’re into capturing or streaming gameplay, you’ll no doubt be familiar with Elgato Gaming. In the past, Elgato’s gaming division focused purely on gameplay capture, however, as gaming content has evolved, so has the range of products they offer. In addition to the Elgato HD60, HD60S and HD60 Pro, there are now stream-enhancing devices like the Stream Deck and Green Screen, as well as the Cam Link, which turns almost any camera into a webcam. Then there’s the recently announced Elgato 4K60 Pro, which will allow users to “capture 4K at 60fps. Flawlessy.”

We had a brief chat with Elgato Gaming’s Senior Partnerships Manager Miguel Lozada, asking him a few general questions, before hitting him with some more technical queries. We also tried to get more details on the Elgato 4K Pro, but alas, those secrets remain safe for now.

MP1st: First off, as you’re the Senior Partnerships Manager, do you have any information on how content creators can become partners with Elgato Gaming?

Lozada: Best way is to apply via the partnerships application page: https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/partnerships

I’d advise having everything updated on your YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, etc. before applying to make sure we are seeing everything up to date.

MP1st: You’ve moved from more “simple” gameplay capture solutions to helping to enable quick-and-easy streaming. What has influenced that move?

Lozada: We believe in empowering content creators. While leading the way for simple gameplay recording and streaming, we connect with the community and understand that it’s more than just a capture device that you need. We hope with the addition of Stream Deck, people will create new ways to engage the viewers and create unique content to be experienced. The recently announced Cam Link and Green Screen are just additional examples of how we wanted to empower content creators. With Green Screen, we want to make professional looking chroma keying easier for users. With Cam Link we hope to level up the quality of on camera content. This device will help those that want to use something better than what’s out in the market for webcams. Our goal is to help everyone create content with simple and efficient products.

MP1st: What stages of testing do your products go through? I know a lot of streamers who get early access (though they don’t tell me what exactly! #NDA) How helpful has community feedback been?

Lozada: We take pride in our work and would never release something that wasn’t up to our own high standards. When it comes to community feedback, this is something we appreciate and take to heart. We are always asking creators of all sizes for feedback. We like knowing we can ask the community for honest and constructive feedback, and will often send pre-release products to users to get more in the field feedback to support our internal QA efforts.

MP1st: With the Elgato Cam Link using an HDMI input, is it possible to record gameplay with the device? (Assuming the player split the HDMI out from their console/PC.) With 1080p60 support, and a presumably sufficient bit rate, this should be possible?

Lozada: Yes, the Cam Link can act like a game capture card if you wish. We don’t recommend, due to needing an additional HDMI splitter, but it’s definitely possible.

MP1st: The 4K60 Pro will be compatible with PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PC, correct?

Lozada: Correct.

MP1st: This is a bit of unusual one, but perhaps you’ve tested it! If you hook a PS4 Pro up to the 4K60 Pro, which then runs to a 1440p monitor, are you able to select a 4K output on the PS4 Pro. I ask this, because those using 1440p monitors with a PS4 Pro are currently limited to a 1080p output. Will the Elgato 4K60 Pro help enable 4K (downsampled) gaming on lower res monitors?

Lozada: More info soon.

MP1st: What’s next for Elgato Gaming? Are there other streaming solutions in the work?

Lozada: Can’t say much right now but we are always exploring how we can help content creators. We have a pretty packed roadmap and are open to further suggestions!

A big “thank you” to Miguel Lozada for taking the time out to answer our questions. For more on Elgato Gaming, check out the official website here

Destiny Item Manager Now Works With Destiny 2, A Must-Have Tool for Any Guardian

The “Destiny Item Manager” is a super useful tool that enables Destiny players to move items across inventory spaces with ease. This includes moving items across different character profiles, so if your Titan is rocking an Exotic rifle that you need on your Hunter, you can simply drag that item across and it’s instantly available to use! Without the tool, you’d have to log out of your Hunter profile, log into your Titan account, put the item you need in the Vault, log out of your Titan profile, log back into your Hunter account, and then head to the Vault one last time!

Destiny 2 players rejoice, for the Destiny Item Manager is now working with the sequel! Basically functionality is there, and the app creators are working hard to make more features available.

Here’s what the app can currently do:

At the moment, all you can do is move items between characters and the vault. We have disabled everything else, and if we missed something, it’s gonna break. We wanted to give the minimum experience so we can help players enjoy the game while we play the game, and we’re happy with where we ended up.

And here’s what’s coming soon:

In the coming weeks, we’ll add Loadouts back to the app and more inspection features for your items. Weapon Reviews should return too. That’s all we can say for now.

Head here to start using the Destiny Item Manager for yourself. You won’t regret it!

Today, the big N has released a new Nintendo Switch update for the console (3.0.2) that’s mostly about system stability improvements (yum!), but also adds online play for a bunch of countries, which is currently for free.

Hearthstone Druid Nerf Coming in Next Patch, Murlocs Also Targeted

Blizzard has now confirmed that the Hearthstone Druid class will be getting nerfed, along with Murlocs. I can’t say that I’m surprised, as the pair have been causing absolute chaos following the addition of the Knights of the Frozen Throne cards.

It’s not clear when the patch will be implemented, but you can read up on the changes below.

enUS_Innervate_Body_LW_600x295.png

Innervate

Several powerful variations of Druid are currently seeing play, and all of them utilize Innervate. Innervate creates explosive starts to the game that can be difficult for the opposing player to recover from. This change leaves Innervate as a simple Basic card and slows down the explosive start potential, while ensuring that it will be utilized in decks that revolve around playing inexpensive spells.

What other changes did we consider?

We considered a few other options for Innervate:

  • Refresh 2 Mana Crystals.
  • Gain 2 Mana Crystals this turn only and increase the mana cost to 1.
  • Gain 6 Mana Crystals this turn only and increase the mana cost to 4.

Since Innervate is a basic card, we need it to be clear and simple. Along with Wild Growth, these cards inform newer players that Druids create mana as a part of their class identity.

We  kept in mind that cards like Counterfeit Coin were strong in combination with other support cards, such as Gadgetzan Auctioneer, Edwin VanCleef, and Combo cards. With the right support cards for Innervate, it may end up still seeing play, but won’t be in every deck—which is ultimately what we’re aiming for with this change.

enUS_FieryWarAxe_Body_LW_600x295.png

Fiery War Axe

Fiery War Axe has been a powerful Warrior weapon since the launch of Hearthstone. Already great tempo for its cost, Fiery War Axe is well complemented by Pirates and cards that synergize with weapons. Raising its mana cost by 1 will slow down the Warrior’s tempo and lower the overall power level of the card.

What other changes did we consider?

The other option we considered for Fiery War Axe was to lower its attack to 2, but that change didn’t feel intuitive enough. Generally, changing the mana cost of a card is less disruptive, because you can always see the mana cost of cards in your hand. Despite the increased mana cost of Fiery War Axe, we expect that it will still see play—other 3 mana 3/2 weapons, like Eaglehorn Bow, can be found in decks that may not have synergy with the weapon’s card text.

enUS_Hex_Body_LW_600x295.png

Hex

We’re not making the change to Hex due to a current power-level problem. Shaman is a class that currently has a lot of flexibility, but is lacking in both class identity and identifiable weaknesses. Changing Hex makes Shaman a bit weaker against big minions and worse at silencing—having both strengths and weaknesses in a class is important.

We are very wary of cards that also incidentally work as a silence. If a player wants to utilize a card with a silence effect, they should be giving up something else. For example, if a player decides to include Spellbreaker in their deck, then they are playing a card that is weak in some situations. Priest is an exception to this rule—silence is a part of their class identity.

Even though Hex is not always played in the more aggressive Shaman decks, we will be making this forward-thinking change with the overall identity of the class in mind. This includes avoiding Shaman cards that function as direct and powerful removal. We will continue moving forward with this design philosophy to help reinforce that ideal.

enUS_MurlocWarleader_Body_LW_600x300.png

Murloc Warleader

Murlocs are good at taking an early lead, and if a player can’t clear the board in time, the game can ultimately snowball to victory using cards like Murloc Warleader. Removing the Health buff from Murloc Warleader will make it easier for players to clear the board of murlocs, and still have it remain a Classic build-around card. Simplifying health buff interactions is an additional benefit of this change. For example, in its current state, having a Murloc Warleader in play then using Wild Pyromancer and Equality would not destroy other murlocs on the board, leading to unclear interactions for some players.

What other changes did you consider?

We considered changing both Rockpool Hunter and Murloc Warleader due to the current strength of Murloc Paladin in the early stages of the game. Changing either Rockpool Hunter or Murloc Warleader would accomplish this, but there are extra advantages to changing just Murloc Warleader: The simplification of health-giving buffs and additional room for future Murlocs since Warleader will be around longer than Rockpool Hunter.

enUS_SpreadingPlague_Body_LW_600x295.png

Spreading Plague

Spreading Plague is a great defensive tool for Druid to protect themselves against aggressive decks, but it was too efficient at 5 mana. Raising the mana cost to 6 will slow the card down slightly, while still allowing for the defensive minions Spreading Plague creates to be utilized in the later stages of the game.

The developers had also responded to the community’s concerns regarding “Ultimate Infestation” and “Ice Block.”

Ultimate Infestation

Our team has discussed making a change to Ultimate Infestation since it feels bad to lose to. However, our data shows us how good each individual card performs in a deck relative to other cards in that deck. Spreading Plague ended up being the best performing card in Jade and Taunt Druid, Innervate was in the top three, and Ultimate Infestation was somewhere around the middle—but it felt much more powerful since it has a huge effect when played.

We considered changing all mentions of the number 5 in Ultimate Infestation to 4, or removing one of the effects entirely. With the other changes we are making to Druid, ramping out Ultimate Infestation before turn 10 should happen less often, so we decided to leave it as is.

Ice Block

We’ve seen discussions about moving Ice Block to the Hall of Fame. As previously mentioned, moving cards to the Hall of Fame occurs at the start of the Hearthstone Year, which will occur with the first expansion release in 2018. Our general stance regarding Hall of Fame is that we want to avoid moving cards mid-year.

We are excited for these changes, and we look forward to seeing how they will shake up the game.

Happy to see the Druid get a big nerf? What about those poor Murlocs? Let us know!

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Retribution DLC Detailed and Release Date Confirmed, New Zombies Map Gets Trailer

The Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Retribution DLC release date is confirmed to be September 12, with the expansion coming first to PS4 owners. Based on previous trends, we’d guess that Xbox One and PC players will be able to access the DLC on October 12, though that has yet to be officially confirmed.

As for what the Retribution DLC content drop contains, here’s the official rundown of the four multiplayer maps, and “The Beast From Beyond” zombies chapter.

· Carnage – A post-apocalyptic race track along the California coast, Carnage features long sightlines and environmental hazards including a fire trap players can activate on command to roast their enemies.

· Heartland – In Heartland, teams will go head-to-head in a simulation of small town America that is a re-imagining of the classic Call of Duty: Ghosts map, Warhawk. Players can pop into the local ice cream shop for a treat, and then take out enemies down the street with a Black Hole Generator.

· Altitude – Set in a high-end, sky high shopping mall located on the edges of the universe, Altitude pushes teams around a chaotic center where quick flank routes are key to victory. Additional features include floating lush waterfalls that border the map.

· Depot 22 – Depot 22 is a watering hole at the end of civilization that focuses on mid-ranged encounters waged in a medium-sized, three-lane map. Players can battle in the cantina for close-quarter combat or engage with enemies wall-running off of a moving train.

The Beast from Beyond, the final chapter of the five-part Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare zombies experience, features the return of Willard Wyler, the enigmatic movie director villain portrayed with voice and likeness by Paul Reubens (Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, Gotham). Wyler once again has trapped the four protagonists inside an all-new horror film, now set in a desolate military station on a distant ice planet. As players begin to discover more and more infected crew members, they’ll need to battle hordes of the undead to uncover the truth and escape Wyler’s films once and for all. The Beast from Beyond also features new weapons, traps and more, in addition to the hallmarkCall of Duty action, with Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Austin Powers) as “Poindexter;” Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors, Suicide Squad) as “AJ;” Jay Pharoah (White Famous, Saturday Night Live) as “Andre;” and Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live, Inside Amy Schumer) as “Sally,” all making a return from the ongoing story.

If the text description doesn’t excite you for the new zombies chapter, check out the trailer embedded below!

The Retribution DLC will be included in the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare season pass. Though not yet officially announced, we’d expect the expansion to also be available as a standalone purchase for $14.99.

Are you hyped for the fourth Infinite Warfare DLC?

Call of Duty: WWII Pre-Order Bonus Grants a Big Head Start, Three New Weapons Confirmed

Don’t go underestimating low level players in Call of Duty: WWII, as they might have pre-ordered the game, and “earned” themselves a Weapon Unlock Token (as well as double XP).

A Weapon Unlock Token can be used to “unlock the weapon of your choice.” This means that, even if you’re at level 1, you could choose to unlock a weapon normally inaccessible until level 52.

Weapon Unlock Tokens are usually only given when a player hits Prestige, however in CoD:WWII, you can now skip the grind by pre-ordering.

Here are the details from @CallOfDuty on Twitter:

Sure, weapon balance should mean that weapons unlocked at higher ranks aren’t more powerful, but in previous Call of Duty games, my go-to guns have always been accessed at rank 40 and above.

Speaking of powerful weapons, three new guns have been confirmed via the above trailer. They are the MG42, the FG42, and the Sawn-Off Shotgun.

Reddit user EdM240B provided the following image:

What do you make of these Call of Duty: WWII pre-order bonuses? And how about those new weapons?
