Payday 3 Down With Matchmaking Issues Errors This September 24

Heisters attempting to matchmake in Payday 3 may notice some errors, as the studio has confirmed reports of Payday 3 Down for matchmaking this September 24.

Payday 3 Down With Matchmaking Issues for September 24 | Payday 3 Servers Down Sept. 24

Update: Payday 3 matchmaking should be up and running again.

Starbreeze Studios has confirmed (via X, formerly Twitter) that they are investigating reports of Payday 3 matchmaking being down.

“Heisters, we’re currently seeing signs of an emerging issue with the matchmaking services in PAYDAY 3. The team is investigating.”

We tried to matchmaker ourselves and were given the error in the featured image above. This marks the the fourth day in a row that Payday 3 has had servers and matchmaking issues since it’s official release, though those in early access have also been experiencing issues before launch.

As always, we’ll continue to monitor the situation and will provide any updates as they become available. Hopefully, Starbreeze will be able to get this all sorted soon.

It’s been a rather frustrating weekend for us Heisters out there just wanting to play the newest Payday.

XDefiant Has Content Planned for “Many Years to Come,” Devs Weren’t Ready to Launch Game in Original Window

While Ubisoft has already detailed what the Year One roadmap is for XDefiant, it looks like the dev team already has a ton more content in the pipeline.

Reacting to the delay announcement over on Twitter, XDefiant Executive Producer Mark Rubin mentioned that while they wished they could have launched the game sooner, they weren’t ready no matter how much they wished they could have been. In addition to that, Rubin shared that they have “a lot of cool content planned for many years to come.”

Given how Ubisoft has a wide range of franchises and properties to pull from, I gather Rubin and the other devs working on XDefiant won’t have any trouble for ideas. The early leaks that have surfaced mentions content pulled from Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Sige.

For those looking forward to XDefiant, there’s still no release date for the game just yet, though it does look like it’ll be released in mid-October at the earliest.

Will the knowledge of the dev team having a content roll out plan already in mind before the game is released affect your decision to play XDefiant? Don’t forget, the game is free-to-play, so this sort of statement is reassuring to hear.

Payday 3: Here’s How to Report Bugs and Issues

PayDay 3 is officially out, and while it’s been having some server issues the past few days, it seems things are finally settling down, with players now able to play. However, not everything is running smoothly for everyone, with reports of crashes, broken achievements, and other bugs surfacing now that players can finally get in-game. Luckily, Starbreeze has opened some communication channels for you to report bugs for Payday 3, and here’s how.

How to Report Bugs and Issues in Payday 3

Regarding official bugs and issues reporting, Starbreeze Studio has again opened its “public feedback and bug reporting” page used during the closed beta. This page will gather technical problems and bugs for Payday 3 and then be forwarded to Starbreeze Studio for review. This is the message the team left to make it clear that this page is, by no means, a live status tracker.

“With PAYDAY 3 now live, we wanted to follow up and set expectations regarding providing further feedback. You are more than welcome to continue adding feedback and report bugs, and we will pass them on to the dev team, but please keep in mind that this is not a live status tracker and that the priority of the topics will be determined internally based on current and ongoing development pipelines.”

Players can also report bugs and issues on the official Payday 3 Steam discussion page. We aren’t sure if this page is developer-run like the other bug-reporting page, though we’re sure they take a look at the feedback provided there.

For those in any of the Discord channels, it doesn’t seem like there’s any real way to report bugs there, and given the number of players, it’s also very easy for developers in those channels to keep track of them. So we recommend using one of the two options above.

The Payday subreddit is also another option for bug reports, but like Discord, chances are those posts will get buried, especially given all the other issues and community posting non-related to bugs being posted there.

Additionally, you can comment below, and we’ll compile a list of bugs to send to the team and keep a log of them in our list of known issues (crash-specific ones here) for Payday 3.

There you have it, some useful channels for you to report all your Payday 3 related issues. Hope this has helped, or at least cleared some things up for you! Now get out there, and start robbing those banks!

Payday 3 List of Known Bugs and Issues

Payday 3 is now officially out, though its launch seems to be far from perfect with several days down due to server-related issues. However, now that the servers appear to be somewhat stable, a large number of bugs and issues are now cropping up for players. To help keep track of these all these, here’s a list of known bugs and issues for Payday 3.

Payday 3 List of Known Bugs and Issues – September 2023 Edition

Audio Missing or Muted

A few story mission videos are missing audio on some platforms.

UI Bugs

There are a number of random UI bugs happening, such as duplicate challenges being displayed, or weapons showing as “owned” when they haven’t been bought yet.

Crashes in Payday 3

All platforms are experiencing crashes randomly. For PC players, there are some fixes tied to known crashes below.

Statue of Liberty mask can crash your game (via Steam)

Due to current technical issues in the game with Dx12, it is recommended if you experienced crashes while wearing this mask to temporally use DX11 by typing ” -dx11″ in the steam launch feature. To access it, please check the following steps:

  1. Right click on Payday 3 in your steam library
  2. Select the properties option
  3. In “General”, write ” -dx11″ in the Launch options

You can now launch the game in a more stable way. (via Steam)

Not receiving any XP or unlocks after completing a heist

Due to character progression being now located to the servers of the game, it is possible you may experience some delay with receiving the different rewards after completing a heist. In that case, it is recommended you restart the game, this should solve your issue and update the level and unlocks of your character to what it should be.

Display Issues on the Payday 3 Loadout Screen (via Steam)

A rare issue affecting the loadout screen in Payday 3 may occur for some players on the Steam version of the game, where the Loadout screen may not be displayed correctly and eventually display the error “Loadout 0 Invalid Loadout Missing Item”. This can be easily resolved by verifying the game cache integrity of your game on Steam. Here are the steps:

  1. Restart your computer and launch Steam,
  2. Next, you can either right click the game in your Library, or click the gear icon from the game’s Library page on the far right,
  3. From the drop down menu, select “Properties”,

Select the Installed Files tab and click the “Verify integrity of game files” button

Steam will verify the game’s files – this process may take several minutes, once completed, restart Payday 3.

Achievements getting delayed due to server issues (via Steam)

In Payday 3, when completing the requirements of an achievement, the servers have to be notified first before the player can actually receive the achievement itself on steam. Unfortunately, if the servers happens to be under stress due to too much activity, one can expect a delay until you’ll receive the notification for the achievement. Still, you won’t need to redo the whole process of the achievement, it will unlock itself eventually.

Technical issues due to using “-fileopenlog” as a launch option on a HDD (via Steam)

If playing Payday 3 on a HDD, it is recommend to avoid putting the “File Open Log” feature on the steam launch options as it could result in heavy technical issues. To solve this issue, it is recommended to move your game on a SSD or remove this launch option for the time being.

We’ll continue to monitor and update the list of known bugs and issues for Payday 3, but if you’re looking for more of a direct line to the developers for reporting, be sure to follow our how to report bugs and issues in Payday 3 guide.

Earth Defense Force 6 and EDF World Brother 2 Are Finally Getting English Dubbed and Subtitles in 2024, But There’s a Catch

Western Earth Defense Force fans waiting for an English-translated version of Earth Defense Force 6 and Earth Defense Force World Brother 2 will be happy to learn it’s finally happening. However, while support for English subtitles and dub is being added to Earth Defense Force 6 and World Brother 2, it’ll only be for the Asia version, which will be released in 2024. This means you’ll have to import it, at least for now.

This was announced during D3’s Tokyo Game Show conference, revealing new trailers for both titles and announcing English support for both titles in the 2024 Asia release.

About EDF6 – The year is 2024 AD. Humanity has won the long battle against alien invaders. The Primer is gone, and tranquility has returned to Earth. However, with the population reduced to 10 percent, civilization is on the brink of collapse. Day after day, the survivors fight against what threats remain while trying their best to rebuild. Fast forward three years. Now in 2027, in a seemingly hopeless new world, the time has come once again to save the Earth from its fate.

It’s up to you to save the world! The identity of the invader who has long tormented Earth is finally revealed, and the despair that has been building since the beginning of the series is about to hit a crescendo… But you and your EDF comrades are about to lead humanity to its greatest victory. It’s a battle that is sure to require all your many years of wisdom and courage!

The biggest installment in the series’ history, Earth Defense Force 6 features the greatest number of missions and weapons ever! And of course, all missions support online co-op play for up to four players (two players in offline split-screen mode). Command all four military branches and battle alongside real Earth Defense Force soldiers from all over the world!

About EDF: World Brother 2 – The EDF has always fought threats from outer space. That is, until a new threat emerges from within the Earth: Gaia Ark. The planet is once again torn apart by a monster hell-bent on death and destruction… As the Brothers struggle amidst the crisis, new legendary members explode onto the scene! Four military units from Earth Defense Force 6, the latest installment in the series, have entered the fray. Once again, voxel Earth’s fate is in the hands of its defenders. Who will triumph?

As we mentioned, both these titles will come with complete English translation and dub, though, unfortunately, there is no Western release at the time of this announcement. That means you’ll have to purchase the games from an Asia PlayStation account or import a physical copy if you want to play it in English.

Hopefully, a Western release announcement is on the horizon, but we suppose this should make fans happy.

Payday 3 Upcoming Update Set for Oct. 5, Starbreeze CEO Apologizes for Server Issues

Those wondering why there’s no day one update for Payday 3, or simply wondering when the game’s first patch is dropping, it seems we have the answer to that, as Starbreeze has confirmed that the first Payday 3 upcoming update is set to drop this October 5.

This was revealed by Starbreeze’s “Elisabeth” (via ItsDynamical) over on the game’s Discord channel, where it was also confirmed that it will tackle the PS5 cosmetics issue among other things.

Of course, given the server issues the game has been plagued with since launch, coupled with the bugs the game is suffering from, some might argue that two weeks is a rather super long wait to roll out fixes.

Speaking of server issues, Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren has gone on Twitter to apologize for the predicament the game’s online infrastructure has been since launch.

Once the patch is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. Stay tuned to our review of the game hitting the site soon (it’s been hard to review the game given the server situation).

Early Access Has Quietly Created a New Form of Monetization

Monetization in video games has been a widely debated topic over the past decade. Ever since the infamous Horse Armor DLC for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which consisted of nothing more than a single piece of cosmetic armor for $4.99, the argument over paying more to get the most out of your games has been dangerous ground to tread on the internet. Regardless of where you stand, there is no doubt that companies have been subtly trying to find as many ways to get the most money out of each gamer as possible.

Initially, this new change to the industry norm was met with massive backlash and criticism. Taking a look through the past decade, some of the biggest stories revolve around the business practices of these seemingly exclusively profit-driven companies. Electronic Art’s Star Wars Battlefront 2’s pay-to-win loot boxes, Metal Gear Survive forcing gamers to pay for extra save slots, and Redfall being a broken mess as a $70 launch title are some examples, just to name a few. But one thing that has become increasingly common within the last year is the number of games offering early access to players so that they can play a few days before the official launch. It’s a new form of monetization that has been quietly adopted by the industry.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that these companies like to “test” the limits of what they can or can’t get away with. Coming out with items in a shop that receive backlash because they are overpriced, only to backtrack and argue that it was never their intent to make things so expensive, has become common practice. The worst has not yet come to fruition though, the latest release of Starfield and its pay-to-play early access premium edition, indicates an ever-increasingly bleak future where the games we play just won’t stop getting more expensive.

From a business perspective, it is challenging to greenlight an expensive single-player game that only has the ability to bring in revenue through sales of the game alone. If they are not an indie game, these games are often created with the intention of being “System Sellers.” That is, creating a product that is intended to boost the sales of another product your company owns. However, third-party publishers do not have the luxury of recouping lost development costs through hardware sales. This is how the premium edition upgrade originally came to be.

Hogwarts Legacy was the first major release to have the option of playing the game early with a “small” $10 deluxe edition upgrade. There’s not much of a price to pay when considering the bonuses of some small DLC included as well. This was just testing the waters, though. The most recent example of Starfield costing $34.99 USD to upgrade represents how quickly it has gotten out of hand. It is easy to argue that one release you paid to play early isn’t a big deal. The issue will become readily apparent when this becomes an industry norm, and with every release, you are forced to choose between waiting around with the fear of missing out (FOMO) and coughing up the extra dollars to avoid spoilers and play the game as soon as possible.

Gaming, as a hobby, is difficult because oftentimes, you are in a perpetual state of waiting. Elder Scrolls VI for example, was announced five years before it had even officially entered production. This creates a scenario where companies can sell the solution to the problem they are creating. Giving players an option to pay to play a game as fast as possible becomes incredibly enticing when you have already spent years waiting in anticipation. This is all part of the hype cycle marketing teams want to create to boost pre-orders and generate FOMO. If people who paid to upgrade are playing earlier than you, there is a greater chance you could see potential spoilers or be left out of conversations when discussing the game because you decided to wait. Twitch streamers are always looking for new content, so having a game blasted to you on social media is a form of advertising in itself, but even worse since you may have to go through the trouble of avoiding certain parts of the internet.

The biggest cause for concern is the timing of these deluxe upgrades. It is a shame to admit, but having Starfield release for premium edition buyers the first day of a long weekend is nothing short of genius. You are putting a greatly anticipated game in players’ hands when they have the absolute most free time to engage with it. At the same time, if you didn’t upgrade and waited till after the weekend, you run the risk of having the game spoiled for you over the weekend.

The problem is that these companies are getting away with this without the general audience putting up much of a fight. Gaming is expensive enough of a hobby as it is, but we are creating a scenario where it will be normal to spend an additional $20-$30 per big release. This additional revenue is impossible for companies to ignore because for the few people that are upset or refuse to pay, they have hundreds of thousands of others who are willing to pay for the convenience to play earlier. That is why Starfield had over 200,000 concurrent users on Steam for the premium edition launch alone. You don’t need to be a math genius to realize how much extra money that $30 per copy brings in. That doesn’t even take into account everyone who paid to play early on Xbox, either. Single-player games often have the task of making the average gamer care about extra DLC as a form of additional revenue. Pushing shops or shoehorning in multiplayer modes in the hopes of you pulling out your credit card is all standard. This can all be avoided by an additional upfront cost. Adding this, on top of the recent increase in game prices, means we are going to be paying $100+ per release. If that doesn’t disgust you, then you may have too much free money.

The bottom line is that we have dug ourselves into a very dangerous hole. There is a large majority of people who are willing to pay extra to play something early, even just for a few days. There is no reason why more and more companies will not follow suit. By the end of the generation, the reality could be that all video game releases will be broken into premium editions and regular editions with separate release dates for each. This garnered with pre-order bonuses, exclusive content, and increasingly expensive micro-transactions, paints a difficult landscape ridden with greed from within the gaming industry.

The Crew Motorfest Review – Aloha, Oh Boy!

Open-world racing games. It’s a genre that has produced some of my favorite games and some of the most revered series of all time. In a genre where the gameplay itself is as defined as it is in racing games, the differences often come from the surrounding mechanics and the physics of the cars themselves. Classics like Midnight Club and the early open-world Need for Speed games focused on urban navigation and the culture of street racing. Burnout Paradise was all about that sense of speed and the car crashes. Forza Horizon still has the weight of the simulation-oriented Forza Motorsport games in a festival atmosphere and heavy emphasis on location.

Ubisoft’s The Crew has focused more on car culture as it exists on social media. Playing as an influencer, you rank up by collecting followers and clout. While that didn’t work for everyone, the use of Boats and Planes along with Cars was a unique take that was more generally appreciated. As was the map being a facsimile of the entire mainland United States.

With The Crew Motorfest, Ubisoft has decided to go after Forza Horizon in an extremely direct way. The game’s setting is no longer all of the Continental U.S. and is instead a massive social media festival at an exotic location. That location being the Island of O’ahu in the Hawaiian Islands. It’s frankly a bold move. But does it pan out, and make for a compelling experience? Read On!

The Hawaiian Tale

The first thing you see when you launch The Crew Motorfest is a fabulously rendered ocean and a series of slow shots of the beaches and mountains above. The game puts Hawaii as a setting right up front and center. The opening cinematic consists of vanity shots of the licensed cars ripping past the jungle, grasslands, mountains, valleys, and city streets of the island. This then gives way to helicopters flying in the titular Crew of diverse 20-something internet influencers. After picking one of them and a simple character creator to edit their appearance, you are presented with the layout of how the gameplay is organized.

The Motorfest is an island-wide celebration of car culture (that also has boats and planes, but they are presented like an afterthought). The festival has completely taken over the whole island and has been covered in events, decorations, and detours to turn it into a car playground. Hawaii was a solid choice, and the open world appears to have been designed with care. It’s a beautiful rendering that, if anything, isn’t emphasized enough in the events. The environment and level design teams on this game outdid themselves.

The events are organized according to various themes called “Playlists.” This is presented to you by letting you drive part of a race from a handful of different playlists. These are diverse in a way I loved. The playlists range from a quick skip through the decades of car history in a retro style, racing around a scenic tour of the island, a tribute to Japan’s car culture and history, and a playlist each to celebrate the history of the Mustang, Lamborghini, and Porsche 911, among various other themes. In all of these, you play using a preselected car. The cars you buy with the in-game currency (or real currency if you don’t want to wait, given that it is a game released in 2023) are only used in free-driving mode or when playing against other humans.

The opening is so similar to Forza Horizon’s openings that I had a moment where I thought I had downloaded the wrong game. It can only be interpreted as intentional. In fact, it is so blatant that I was initially surprised and turned off by it. It is undeniably corny. Let nothing I say contradict that. The commentary for the opening hits the ear like a sponsored TikTok reel. Putting aside that annoyance, which thankfully ends after the introductions are made, the AI assistant, Cara, who talks to you as you navigate in freeride, is much more banal and doesn’t grate on the ear as much. As the game progressed, I actually found that the decision to directly compete like this with a much bigger franchise felt bold, if not innovative. The game goes for it, and I think it does so well once you’re past this opening.

The themes are a clever way to provide variety in a genre that is not known for it. That being said, the presentation is not perfect. Each playlist has an icon plastered everywhere along the tracks in the form of parade float-style balloons. In the Made in Japan playlist, the same dragon in various sizes is everywhere. It’s the same with donuts in the Rule the Streets playlist that features the Donut Media host James Pumphrey commentating. It’s small but distracting.

This leads to another thing unique about this game. The commentary is almost constant. Each playlist has an actor or one of several car culture celebrities talking through all the events. The comments appear to be triggered by specific checkpoints in the course and are every 15 to 30 seconds or so. It’s a particularly talkative game, so be aware that you may want to adjust your volume settings if you hate that sort of thing. It does create a handful of indirectly funny moments, such as when the commentary was talking about the beauty of the unspoiled jungle as I tore through that very jungle, ripping trees out of the ground in a 1970s Camaro. I didn’t mind it, but I imagine it would be vexing for some people.

On top of the six to nine events in each playlist, there are also several dozen less formal activities in free roam, such as speed traps where you have to pass a marker going above a certain speed and short slalom tracks. I wished that quick travel was available earlier and had more warp points, but I can understand the desire to make the player spend time driving around the open world and interacting with these other activities.

Despite a couple of qualms, the core structure of The Crew Motorfest is a win for me, and I think it makes for a solid backbone to the racing and driving itself.

Go Around the Island

The gameplay of The Crew Motorfest is solid and smooth. The racing feels like an impressive compromise between more arcade-oriented fun and a more simulation-oriented seriousness. I found that by turning off the guideline function, I was able to enjoy my experience and learned how to control the cars the way the game wants at my own pace. I did have the opportunity to play on a racing wheel setup, and it took a little adjustment, but it worked great. The steering is responsive, and the physics, while not particularly realistic, were understandable and intuitive enough to work with.

It is also interesting to note that it’s uncommon for the game to expect you to win the events. For most of them, you don’t even have to place to move on, and there isn’t a three-tiered Bronze, Silver, or Gold medal system. Almost all the events are Pass/Fail. The player just wins more in-game currency if they win. I liked and disliked this. The drive to get gold is a huge draw in many games. But seeing more of the game in a reasonable amount of time was appreciated, as was not having to get stuck doing an event that I didn’t enjoy as much more than once.

There’s a good selection of cars, but some brands are considerably better represented than others. The game smells of heavy product placement and collaboration with the auto manufacturers featured in a way that often made me roll my eyes. It’s heavy-handed in several places, and as one can expect, this also means that there is almost no damage ever done to any of the vehicles when they crash. The motorcycles are especially protected as your character doesn’t even ragdoll when you crash. Instead, the screen cuts to black, and you get reset back on the path you were riding.

I’m not naïve enough to see why brands don’t want their cars realistically crashed and torn apart. But in a game where you can fly up into the low stratosphere and then turn into an antique VW Beetle and fall out of the sky without anything but some scratched paint, it’s hard not to see the corporate partners’ wallets affecting the game design. The concept and structure of the game are over the top and silly fun. The cars, on the other hand, are taken seriously. Thankfully, the pause menu features the personalization options that have come to be expected in these games, and you can customize your cars with a good breadth of options. That is not the case for certain vehicles that are branded or have a special paint job, but those are the minority.

Like the last two The Crew games, there are race boats and planes in this game. Unlike those previous installments, they are very much off to the side, as are motorcycles. While there are a couple of events where boats and planes pop up in other playlists, they share a single playlist themselves called “Sky and Sea.” Motorcycles have a playlist all to themselves, but just one. Cars are the focus of 12 playlists and are the darlings in this family reunion. I didn’t mind it, but I know some of our readers might very well mind, given that shared emphasis in the previous installments.

It might be for the best because while the boats feel unique to drive in a fun way, I found the plane races to be infuriating and nigh unplayable. The checkpoints are small rings that you have to navigate a plane with relatively realistic controls — attempting to do so more often than not resulted in my crashing into the side of the ring and falling out of the sky. The planes are fun to fly as a way to get around in freeride, but my stomach sank whenever I realized I had to actually race one.

All in all, I liked the gameplay, and I enjoyed the racing. I am not a big fan of simulation, and this does have some aspects of that, but it is more arcade-oriented than Forza. Which is something I can appreciate.

Verdict and Aloha Oe

The Crew Motorfest is a fun surprise. I intend to keep playing it for at least a few more hours and will likely keep it installed if I need a pretend mini vacation. My biggest gripe is the Internet Car Influencer culture from which the game takes its narrative cues. I hate the world of influencers like every other adult with a brain. But the setting is genuinely fantastic to race around. The cars and other vehicles are fun to drive (except the planes in a race); plainly put, it’s a fun racer. Here’s to hoping we get more games in this direction and eventually see the genre return to its former glory.

Score: 7.5/10

Pros:

  • Driving is fun and feels great.
  • The environment and cars are gorgeous.
  • The gameplay is varied and kept fresh.

Cons:

  • The opening, while informative and necessary, reeks of corny Influencer speak.
  • Racing planes is a bad time.
  • Potentially annoying persistent commentary.
  • Character models clearly took a back seat to the vehicles and world.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Gameplay Was Mainly Inspired by God of War

The developers over at Don’t Nod studio appear to be massive fans of Santa Monica’s rebooted God of War series, so much so that the gameplay for their upcoming title, Banishers: Ghost of New Eden, was inspired by the series’ successful fresh new take.

Don’t Nod, who previously developed Vampry, recently sat down with PLAY Magazine (Issue 32, November 2023,) to discuss the game, shedding some light on the game’s inspiration. Specifically, the gameplay, as many have already noted, strikes some resemblance to Santa Monica’s rebooted God of War games. That’s not by accident, as the game’s Creative Director, Philippe Moreau, states that when it comes to the gameplay of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, it was mainly inspired by God of Way.

“We decided very early in the development to just begin a new fight system from scratch. So we took God Of War as the main inspiration, [particularly with the] game feel and how the camera is close to the character and [you] can move by strafing. […] Compared to Vampyr, it’s a big improvement.”

Speaking of gameplay, you can watch 14 minutes of gameplay for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden right here. We also posted the different editions and pre-order bonuses of Banishers for those interested in purchasing it now.

It is easy to see the similarities, and hopefully, like God of War (2018), Banishers Ghosts of New Eden ends up being a surprise hit. We won’t have long to find out, as Banishers Ghosts of New Eden launches for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on November 7.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Gameplay From TGS 2023 Features Grasslands, Piano Play and Side Activities

Square Enix brough in a ton of new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gameplay footage at this year’s Tokyo Game Show (TGS 2023). Not only do we see combat, but there’s also a look at some of the side activities players can do, and even some piano playing from Cloud!

The first video below features the Grasslands area, which game director Naoki Hamaguchi said spans about two kilometers by itself.

Near the end of the clip, we see some of the side stuff players can do in the game such as chocobo customization and more.

Next up, we see Cloud Strife playing the piano. It seems like your typical rhythm-based games in how it plays out, but the player uses the analog sticks mostly.

I have to say, FF7 Rebirth is looking solid so far! We should hear more about it in the coming weeks and months as we inch nearer its Feb. 29, 2024 release date for the PS5.

Payday 3 Best Settings – PC, Console, Steam Deck, and Controller

Considering its relatively stable performance out of the box and putting aside the always online requirements, Payday 3 is a smooth experience capable of running on mid-range computers adequately well, some low-end systems with settings reduced, and of course, on high-end rigs and consoles without much issue. But if you find the gameplay lackluster due to stutters or frame drops, here are the best Payday 3 settings to optimize the experience.

Best Payday 3 PC Settings

On PC, Payday 3 runs relatively smoothly without altering many settings whatsoever. Running the game on Ultra Settings ensures an attractive yet stable experience if your rig can handle it.

  • Anti-Aliasing: Off
  • Effects: Ultra
  • Foliage: Ultra
  • Textures: Ultra
  • Shadows: Medium to High
  • Post Processing: Ultra
  • View Distance: Ultra
  • Upscaling: Quality
  • Motion Blur: Off

Best Console Settings for Payday 3

On a console, the best settings for the game revolve around the ‘Quality’ setting. You do not want to opt for performance, as it lowers the visual quality without significantly boosting the framerate. Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles can handle the Quality settings, so don’t be afraid to push your console to its maximum.

  • Anti-Aliasing: Quality (60 FPS)
  • Upscaling: Quality (60 FPS)
  • FOV: 75-90

Payday 3 on Steam Deck

Unfortunately, Payday 3 is not verified on Steam Deck. Despite this, with a few graphical tweaks, you can enjoy the first-person shooter on Valve’s handheld system relatively well. But don’t expect ultra-gorgeous graphics or a long battery life!

  • FPS: 30
  • Refresh Rate: 60
  • Half-Rate Shading: FSR
  • TDP Limit: 10
  • Graphics: Low

You can and should feel free to tweak in-game settings to your liking.

Payday 3 Controller Settings

As for controller settings in Payday 3, you may experience a bit of a dead zone. Unfortunately, there are no settings to alter this directly, but you can raise and lower sensitivity to better suit your speed. If you’re more competitive, increase your sensitivity to alleviate dead zone concerns. If you’re more casual, a middle ground works fine.

Otherwise, the controls are optimized well, with the default layout functioning as intended and easy to learn for new players.

Embracer Group Cites 3-Step Plan to Save Company Amid Closures and Financial Changes

As part of its 2023/2024 restructuring program, Embracer Group continues to alter its company with additional closures, brand downsizes, and divestments. What started as a large-scale executive inception in June 2023 is now a three-part action plan to assist with financial needs.

The news comes to us through the Embracer Group Annual Meeting for 2023. Here, a number of Embracer Group employees and executives present new information on what’s to come with the restructuring phases.

As detailed by Embracer Group Founder and CEO Lars Wingefors during the aforementioned meeting, we’re given a vital update on the restructuring program. Beforehand, Wingefors presents some of the operational and financial highlights from 2022 and 2023. He then moves on to a display of gameplay facts that showcase big numbers for their subsidiaries. These include the likes of Tomb Raider, Dead Island 2, Metro, and the newly-released Payday 3.

Upon approaching the context in question, Wingefors presents an overview of Embracer Group’s recent operations with game releases and company goals. That’s when the presentation transitions to the challenges that the company is facing.

It’s more of a chart for reference that Wingefors provides, with the update sharing its company goals. Though of course, this may come at a cost. “As difficult as some of the decisions that we will take will be, we are confident that we will emerge as a stronger, more efficient company setting out on a stable future to build even greater value across many studios and a uniquely diversified portfolio of IPs,” Wingefors informs during the presentation.

The solution comes in the form of a three-phase action plan:

  • Phase 1 – Opex and initial phase capex savings
  • Phase 2 – Further capex savings and capital allocation initiatives
  • Phase 3 – Further capital allocation initiatives and efficiency improvements including consolidation

In short, Wingefors and Embracer Group are anticipating promising results with this action plan for divestments and other implementations. A lot of work is at play here, though Wingefors reassures us that he is looking forward to the process. “We are confident and determined to deliver on the goals we set out by the end of the fiscal year,” Wingefors says as he finishes his presentation.

You can check out his portion of the Embracer Group Annual Meeting for 2023 with the provided video above (time stamp is 23:50-36:56). Be sure to check out the full video for more information on Embracer Group’s restructuring plans.

Payday 3 Tips & Tricks for New Players

On the surface, Payday 3 is a straightforward game. You don a mask, enter a bank, and rob the vault of its contents. Along the way, civilians enter the fray, becoming obstacles to overcome, and police assaults become progressively more challenging to manage. Anyone familiar with first-person shooter gameplay and cooperative titles should feel at home. But to genuinely succeed and not let your team down, these Payday 3 tips and tricks for new players should help!

Payday 3 Beginner Tips and Tricks

Whether you’re brand-new to Payday or just to Payday 3, learning the basics can make you a viable part of any heist team.

Learn the Enemies

Alongside the usual police and SWAT, you’ll face a variety of returning and new foes:

  • Zapper: The Taser has a new name, The Zapper, and he brings his iconic stun gun once again to stunlock players.
  • Nader: A new enemy capable of throwing out tear gas grenades that block your view and cause disorientation.
  • Cloaker: The Cloaker uses stealth to sneak up on you and deal significant damage, leading to a downed state almost immediately.

Armor Mechanics

Payday 3 features unique armor mechanics; unlike in past games, it does not regenerate automatically during gameplay. Instead, you must pick up armor from an armor bag. Everyone is out of luck if no team member brings an armor bag. Some armor may regenerate if it’s flashing, but it’s typically not enough to withstand a full assault.

Experiment With Your Loadout

Everyone has a unique playstyle, including you. Initially, you won’t have many weapons unlocked besides a single sidearm, a shotgun, and a basic assault rifle. They work well but can be improved vastly in time. That said, don’t be afraid to experiment. If you’re accustomed to using a shotgun, switch things up and get a feel for the new weapons in Payday 3.

Save Your Money for Useful Upgrades

Spending hordes of cash on cosmetic upgrades that look cool in a heist is enticing, but that’s a mistake. Once you’re rolling in the money, have thoroughly upgraded your weapons, and put points into valuable skills and equipment, focus on buying clothing.

Starfield HD Rework Mod Now Live, Improving In-Game Textures

Say goodbye to those low-resolution textures in Starfield as the latest must-have mod for the game, the Starfield HD Rework mod, is now available to download.

Developed by Halk Hogan, who you may recognize for his HD Rework mods for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, released today the first version, 1.0, of his Starfield HD Rework mod. This mod aims to eliminate most of the low-resolution textures, amongst other improvements that you can see in the comparison video below.

You can see why this is a “must-have” mod for Starfield, as this mod massively reworks textures. If you are interested in trying out the mod, instructions can be found below.

Regardless, this is fantastic progress from the modding community, as it has only been two weeks since the release of Starfield. This mod will undoubtedly become one of the best mods available, and we cannot wait to see how far it progresses.

Starfield is now available on PC and Xbox Series consoles.

How to Upgrade Weapons in Lies of P

At the beginning of Lies of P, you’ll have a chance to choose your starting weapon. These items scale with various attributes but can be narrowed down to dexterity and strength builds. As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock additional weapon parts that you can combine to form unique combinations using the blade and handle of found items. These change your Fable Arts, along with how your build plays. But to feel truly powerful, you’ll want to find one that suits you and learn how to upgrade weapons in Lies of P.

Upgrade Your Weapons in Lies of P

Depending on the weapon you use, you can upgrade various components to improve physical or elemental damage. But first, you’ll require materials and the right NPC at Hotel Krat.

To upgrade weapons in Lies of P, start by paying a visit to Eugenie in Hotel Krat. She’s in her workshop just to the right of the fountain in front of the main entrance. Here, you can speak with her about upgrading weapons or altering your setup by swapping out handles and blades.

However, you need Ergo and Hidden Moonstones to successfully upgrade a weapon. You can and should farm Ergo fast in Lies of P to ensure you can craft, upgrade, and level up enough to take down bosses like Parade Master. But to find Hidden Moonstones, you’ll have to open chests scattered throughout the game world and slice down red butterflies. These will fade away, so kill them quickly.

Unfortunately, the amount of Ergo and Hidden Moonstones increases the more you upgrade your weapons, so keep an eye on your resources and weigh the pros and cons beforehand.

Nearly Two Hours of Baldur’s Gate 3 Secret Content Is Undiscovered, Claims Astarion’s Voice Actor

Baldur’s Gate 3 is the gift that keeps on giving. Since its release, players have been discovering all sorts of wacky and exciting content within the game. Now, Astarion’s voice actor Neil Newbon has revealed that there’s nearly two hours of Baldur’s Gate 3 secret game content that has yet to be discovered.

Here’s a clip taken from the Twitch stream courtesy of YouTube uploader L. P.:

In the clip, Newbon is discussing the game’s extensive breadth of content while signing pictures. He mentions that there are hours and hours of the game that players can miss just by making the wrong choices. He then goes on to say the following:

There’s loads of stuff you may completely miss. Like, hours and hours and hours of content, I’m not kidding. Tens of hours of content you can miss by just not choosing the right thing. And it doesn’t stop you completing the game in any way, shape, or form, you just don’t see it because you didn’t make that choice.

Apparently, even if you replay it, the number of times you’d have to replay it to see literally everything the game has to offer is, we’re talking hundreds of hours, hundreds of hours simply to see everything. There’s even something I know about, that you can’t get to unless you do something which I don’t think anybody’s going to work out. At some point, somebody will find it through a very specific reason… it’s about two hours of content that nobody knows. Yeah, it’s crazy.

The voice actor refused to elaborate any further for his co-host, stating he wouldn’t give any hints. This might be frustrating news to some, but it’s crazy to learn that there are pieces of the game that even now have yet to be discovered.

If you’re interested in hopping into the Forgotten Realms yourself to try to find this secret content, it might be helpful to check out the latest patch notes for Patch 3, which you can see here. If you’re still on the fence about the game, check out our review, where we called it “the new pinnacle of RPGs, the game that all other games will be measured by from now on.”

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged DLC and Post Launch Content Roadmap Teases New Cars and Tracks

Did the latest Forza Motorsport gameplay fail to tickle your fancy? If you’re looking for something a little more light-hearted, Mattel and Milestone have you covered. Unveiled today, the Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged DLC and post launch content roadmap breaks down all the free and paid DLC that racers can get their hands on in the months following the game’s October release.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 DLC and Post Launch Content Roadmap:

Here’s what we can expect from each of the two currently planned Season Passes:

Season Pass Volume 1

hot wheels turbocharged roadmap

The first season pass will introduce five premium DLCs and two Expansion Packs, each of which will include four extra vehicles and a new environment for racers to speed through. Among the DLCs are a Fast X collaboration and a Honda Modern Classics Pack. The two Expansions are the AcceleRacers Expansion Pack, which is based on a straight-to-DVD series of Hot Wheels movies from 2005, and the Made in Italy Expansion Pack. We love to see AcceleRacers getting some love so many years later.

Season Pass Volume 1 will run from the game’s launch in October 2023 through February 2024.

Season Pass Volume 2

hot wheels turbocharged roadmap

Following Season Pass Volume 1, the second season pass comes with four premium DLCs and another 2 Expansion Packs. This time around, the premium DLCs include a Monster Trucks Pack and a Mercedes-Benz Pack. We’re not quite sure how a monster truck will stack up against a sports car in a race, but I suppose the magic of Hot Wheels is that they can go as fast as they want.

The Expansion Packs for Season Pass Volume 2 include a Fast & Furious Expansion Pack and an Alien Encounters Expansion Pack. As we stated before, the Expansion Packs are slated to include new environments. We’re curious to see which Fast and Furious environment gets included in the DLC. Those movies have been everywhere, even space, so nothing is off the table.

The Deluxe Edition and Legendary Edition of the game include both season passes, and they’re already available for pre-order at this link. Mattel and Milestone also confirmed that additional free content will arrive for all game owners down the line.

Do all these Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 DLC packs get you excited for the game? Let us know down in the comments.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged races onto PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 19, 2023. To see the game’s PC system requirements, click here.
