Dino Survival Horror Game Instinction Moving to Unreal Engine 5, Ray Tracing Available on Supported Hardware

In case you missed it, Hashbane Studios released an all-new trailer for their upcoming dino survival horror game, Instinction. In it, we saw some short snippets of new gameplay, but more impressively, the high-fidelity visuals that the team is aiming for with their environments and dinosaurs. Well, as gorgeous as that trailer was, it would appear that Hashbane Studios has plans to make the game even more beautiful, as it will be moving Instinction production from Unreal Engine 4 to the newer version, Unreal Engine 5.

In a press release preview that the studio sent out, Hashbane confirmed that what we saw in the recent trailer was all captured using Unreal Engine 4. That should be of no surprise to anyone as the engine was confirmed during Instinction’s initial announcement. However, with the game release still a bit of a way out, and a new version of Unreal Engine now readily available, Hashbane  took the opportunity to also confirm that Instinction will now use Unreal Engine 5 for its final production.

UE5 will allow for us to further push the lighting and model quality. A few dino models will be improved on and/or replaced to be completely unique to Instinction, we’re working with most of the original artists for new models and animations. There is a lot going on behind the scenes and we will share more details as and when we can through our socials.

And speaking of lighting, while the trailer didn’t feature it, Hashbane has also confirmed ray tracing support for Instinction! And this isn’t just on PC either. When we asked whether or not the next-gen consoles (PS5 & Xbox Series) would support the feature they replied stating that all devices that can support it will have it in their options. Seeing that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are more than capable of supporting it, I think its safe to say we can expect to see the feature on both platforms.

Instinction is set to release sometimes in 2022 o both last-gen and next-gen consoles, as well as PC.

Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 Next-Gen Versions Delayed to 2022

CD Projekt Red has released some pretty upsetting news. Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3’s next-gen versions have been delayed to 2022, which will definitely get some fans who waited for the upgraded versions pretty disappointed.

In a production update statement released by CD Projekt RED, the company made the decision to delay both versions of the game to give the teams more time to better polish them.

Since its release, CD Projekt Red has worked non-stop to fix the numerous performance and technical issues that previous generation releases of Cyberpunk 2077 has had. This led to the game being delisted for a time by services such as the PlayStation Store, and refunds were given out to dissatisfied customers who purchased copies of the game. CD Projekt Red faced severe backlash because of the disastrous launch of the game and the events behind it, leading to the company apologizing for their faults as well as several lawsuits that followed the game’s release. The company has since committed to fixing the issues, leading to today’s events where they have decided to further delay the next-gen release of the game as well as The Witcher 3.

Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will now be released on the first quarter of 2022, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s next-gen release will come at the second quarter of the same year.

Destiny 2 Year 5 Dungeons Are Only Available Through The Witch Queen Deluxe Edition

Confusion over Destiny 2’s upcoming content came to a head a few hours ago, as it was confirmed by Bungie that the Destiny 2 Year 5 Dungeons are only accessible through purchasing The Witch Queen Deluxe Edition. The confirmation on Reddit has sent shockwaves throughout the community, with a mostly negative reaction prevalent for this paywalled piece of content.

The conversation started when a thread on the official Destiny subreddit made the rounds, one which asked if players can upgrade to the Deluxe Edition of The Witch Queen in the future in order to access the Dungeon content. An official response from Bungie was then made, and shortly downvoted widely thereafter:

Hey everyone. We’ve seen some debate around the new dungeon content and wanted to clarify how it will be delivered next year.

If you get the Digital Deluxe Edition of The Witch Queen you will receive the expansion, all four Seasons for the next year, and the two Dungeons. If you get the Standard Edition, you can still upgrade to the Deluxe Edition to get the dungeons later. We will also be offering a separate way for you to purchase the Dungeons in the future, but they will not be included in the Season passes.

We will share more info on this closer to when this content is set to go live.

A new thread was then made which looked closer at the response, leading to the widely negative reaction across the subreddit:

Bungie clarifies: Y5 Dungeons are not part of Standard WQ, or Y5 Seasons — ONLY through WQ Deluxe, or a separate (TBA) Dungeon purchase path
byu/YeezyReddit inDestinyTheGame

Some comments on this thread pointed out Bungie’s recent decisions when it comes to Destiny 2; in particular, the developer’s decision to vault certain expansions was criticized alongside this new decision to seemingly paywall content behind the more expensive Deluxe Edition of The Witch Queen.

What do you think? Is it okay for Bungie to lock Year 5 Dungeons behind the Deluxe Edition of The Witch Queen? Let us know in the comments below!

Thanks, YeezyReddit !

Here are the screenshots lifted directly from the God of War Ragnarok product page:

The page also touches on the story, though we’re not 100 percent sure it’s new. Here’s what’s mentioned there regarding Kratos’ latest adventure:

From Santa Monica Studio comes the sequel to the critically acclaimed God of War (2018). Kratos and Atreus must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as they prepare for the prophesied battle that will end the world.

Together, Kratos and Atreus venture deep into the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for war. Along the way they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, gather allies from across the realms and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters.

As the threat of Ragnarök grows ever closer, Kratos and Atreus find themselves choosing between the safety of their family and the safety of the realms…

Here are the key features of the game:

  • Those who break fate

Atreus seeks knowledge to help him understand the prophecy of “Loki” and what role he is to play in Ragnarök. Kratos must decide whether he will be chained by the fear of repeating his mistakes or break free of his past to be the father Atreus needs.

  • Weapons of war

The Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos and Guardian Shield return alongside a host of new abilities for both Kratos and Atreus. As they take on gods and monsters from across the Nine Realms, Kratos’ deadly Spartan skills will be tested like never before as he fights to protect his family.

  • Explore the realms

Journey to dangerous and stunning landscapes while facing a wide variety of enemy creatures, monsters and Norse gods as Kratos and Atreus search for answers and allies.

PS5 Firmware Update 21.02-04.03.00 Releases for October 20 – Improves System Performance

Sony just published the new PS5 Update 21.02-04.03.00 for October 20 across regions, and much like the last small update, don’t expect much outside of system performances improvements.

PS5 Firmware Update 21.02-04.03.00 Patch Notes

Size: 913MB

Per the console, it says, “this system software update improves system performance,” which isn’t surprising for an unannounced title update.

To download (913mb required) this new update you can do so under system software updates located in the settings menu on the PS5. If you need to download the file and update manually, steps are included below.

How to Update a PS5 Over a USB

  1. Using a PC or Mac, create a folder named “PS5” on a USB drive formatted as FAT32. Inside that folder, create another folder named “UPDATE”.
  2. Download the update file (link here) and save it in the “UPDATE” folder. Save the file as “PS5UPDATE.PUP”.
  3. Plug the USB drive containing the file into your PS5 console.
  4. Start the PS5 console in Safe Mode: press and hold the power button, releasing after the second beep.
  5. Select Safe Mode option 3: Update System Software.
  6. Select Update from USB Storage Device > OK.

Like we said, don’t expect much from this update, although if there is anything new and hidden added, we will be sure to update this post.

The last big PS5 update (21.02-04.00.00.42) came out last month, which added a number of new features, including support for internal m.2 SSD. Since then, Sony has released additional small updates.

No Man’s Sky Update 3.70 Flies Out This October 20

Hello Games has released the No Man’s Sky update 3.70 (version 3.070 on PS5) patch this October 20, and it seems to be a big download on all platforms. Given the jump in game version expect new content to be rolled out, as even the game’s creator has teased something about it.

No Man’s Sky Update 3.70 Patch Notes | No Man’s Sky Update 3.070 Patch Notes | No Man’s Sky October 20 Patch Notes:

Size: 9GB (PS4), 7.44GB (Xbox)

Hello Games has not released anything just yet, though we’re expecting that to change very soon. Given the file sizes, we’re hoping this brings new content. Also, Hello Games boss Sean Murray did tease something yesterday, which we’re assuming is tied into today’s patch:

If you notice anything, let us know down in the comments. We’ll be updating this post the moment official patch notes are out, so stay tuned.

Outside of that, given today is the start of the NBA season, expect something tied in to that. Once we know more, we’ll be sure to update the post. If you spot any gameplay-related changes, pr other fixes, let us know what you find down in the comments.

  • Restarting during Skill Challenges should now work as intended
  • Signed Player Cards will no longer have distorted backgrounds in-game
  • Boosts applied to Shoe Cards will now correctly be applied in games
  • Added support for searching for Shoe Colorway Cards by brand in the Auction House
  • Prevented a case where players could accidently select multiple packs at once in MyTEAM: Draft

Update: While no patch notes have been released just yet, here are some of the changes players have noticed (via the NBA 2K subreddit):

  • Rebirth badge in and it looks like they FINALLY fixed the free agent bug. No fix to the playbook though
  • Missing badges
  • Llillard’s movement behind the back looks different now. Also shooting and 98 base looks different (unverified)

As one might expect, Visual Concepts has not released the patch notes for the game just yet, though we expect that to change within the day. However, one of the things people noticed is how it changed the shot meter. On the game’s subreddit, user Kingtripz said the following, “I got an update and it’s fucked with the shot meter, it’s much smaller now. I dunno if I got a glitch or something but man it looks weird.”

Outside of that, given today is the start of the NBA season, expect something tied in to that. Once we know more, we’ll be sure to update the post. If you spot any gameplay-related changes, pr other fixes, let us know what you find down in the comments.

Update: Post has been updated to reflect the official patch notes.

New World Update 1.0.3 Adds Server Transfer Feature and Other Fixes This Oct. 20

Amazon Games Orange County have officially released New World update 1.0.3, and this is an important one for many players as it adds the Server Transfer feature as well as some very important general stability and bug fixes. Check out the complete patch notes below.

New World Update 1.0.3 Patch Notes:

Spotlight: Character Server Transfers

While we want everyone to find their long-term home in Aeternum as soon as possible, we also want to ensure that the process is safe and ready for everyone to use. We’ve been hard at work on the feature and testing it for the past two weeks, but because this feature is brand new we have decided to take a safe, incremental approach to rolling out transfers to all players.

When all worlds are back online from downtime, our plan is to monitor the framework we created without turning transfers on immediately. Once we have confirmed that the framework holds up at scale, we will turn on character server transfers in the Utopia world first, in the AP Southeast region. We will closely monitor transfers in this world, and if anything out of the ordinary occurs our team will need to make manual interventions. If all goes well, we will turn it on for the rest of the AP Southeast region, and continue monitoring. If after 8 hours our team hasn’t discovered any issues, we will fully deploy character server transfers to the other regions.

Thank you to our AP Southeast players for helping us ensure this feature is ready for the worldwide rollout, and thank you to everyone for your understanding and patience. Please stay tuned to @playnewworld and our forums for the latest updates!

General

  • Implemented final pieces of the server transfer framework.

  • Added improvements to the World selection UI.

  • Added clearer messaging when a player is kicked due to going AFK or violating the EAC.

  • Added clearer messaging when stacked discounts are present, such as territory standing and faction discounts on property taxes.

  • Implemented back-end changes to help our team investigate concerns around the client performance in War.

  • Adjusted the respawn timer on Boatswain Ambrose and various other elite enemies throughout the world.

  • In The Depths, Players must now be in the arena to damage Thorpe.

  • An error message now appears when players attempt to buy their own items in the Trading Post.

  • Reverted a chest/loot change from update 1.0.2 that was causing too many refining reagents to roll from chests.

  • Adjusted the volume on the Amazon Games splash screen.

  • Armor is limited to 1 skill perk per piece.

  • Added general performance improvements for visual artifacts and graphics settings.

  • Dyes are now removed from items upon trade with a warning message present.

  • The Time to Declare War” timer now visually pauses to make it clear when an Invasion is imminent but not yet scheduled. Territory remains in a Conflict state after Invasions, and War can be declared.

Bug Fixes

General Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issues with the T4 and T5 azoth staffs— go close those high level portals!

  • Fixed an issue causing the abandoning event notification to persist.

  • Fixed a housing UI issue. The UI will now correctly shows that property taxes are subject to the full price of the home, and not impacted by the first time home buyer discount.

  • Fixed issues with early game spawning. The watchtower respawn point is replaced by the Settlement after it has been discovered. Players no longer incorrectly respawn at a Watchtower after selecting to respawn at a Settlement.

  • Fixed various localization issues throughout the game.

  • Fixed an issue where not all items for Town Projects were consumed when completing the mission.

  • Resolved login errors that prevented players from accessing their character.

  • Fixed an issue that caused Arena keys to not drop as intended.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the Runic Bear armor to not be appropriately dyed during Wars.

  • Fixed a pet placement issue. Pets placed in an otherwise empty house now remain in the home after the player logs out, instead of returning the pet to the player’s inventory.

  • AP Southeast servers now display the correct time zone in-game.

  • Fixed an issue with titles – player titles and achievements now appear as intended, and the achievement tab properly updates when a new achievement is earned.

  • Fixed an issue that caused Company invites to persist after decline/accept.

  • Fixed an issue that caused Rajah spawns to stack forever – one big cat at a time, please!

Speculative Fixes

The fixes listed below are tentative fixes and mitigations. Our goal is to get these changes out and see if issues persist, so we can continue to work on them and address in a future update if necessary.

  • Worked to fix an issue where Wars and Invasions kicked off earlier than scheduled.

  • Worked to fix an issue where not all settlement stations upgrade as intended when town projects are completed.

  • Players should no longer become stuck when entering or exiting an instance. If a player reconnects and their character is dead, the respawn screen is open with respawn options available. Players who are currently stuck need to contact customer support to have their character unstuck.

Emergency Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that caused holding and dragging around the client while in windowed mode to constantly retrigger invincibility
  • Fixed an issue that caused taxes are not going into the controlling company’s treasury
  • Fixed an issue that caused penalty length for suspensions and bans to say “Over a year ago”
  • Fixed issues with companies not receiving some of its territory taxes

That’s about it for New World update 1.0.3.
