Rust Console Edition Now Available on PS4 and Xbox One

The longtime survival-adventure PC game is now expanding to more platforms and made available to various players. Developer and Publisher Double Eleven announced today’s official release of Rust Console Edition and is now available for purchase on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

The launch is accompanied by a trailer on YouTube, showing the popular title as it looks on consoles.

Based on the popular PC version, Rust Console Edition is designed as a separate experience from its PC counterpart, optimized specifically for console players but features crossplay between the Xbox and PlayStation platforms.

This is the first time that the 100-player, post-apocalyptic world game was made available for platforms outside the PC since its launch in 2013.

SMITE Update 11.79 for May 21 Released

Hi-Rez Studios has released the SMITE update 11.79 May 21 patch for the game, and this is just days after we got the Monstercat title update. Note that this is not the Bonus Update scheduled for June 1, so don’t expect any major balance changes included.

SMITE Update 11.79 May 21 Patch Notes:

SMITE servers underwent maintenance which should be finished by the time you read this. While there are no patch notes available yet, we’re keeping an eye out in community and will update the post if we see anything tangible.

We’ve listed the most recent bug fixes released earlier this week:

BUG FIXES

UI

  • Fixed an issue where a large group of new gods had no in-game ability videos. All gods should now have all ability videos
  • Updated Loki and Persephone in-game ability videos to match their new kits
  • Fixed an issue where the Danzaburou and Hera fan art cosmetics were using the wrong art

Spectator Mode

  • Fixed an issue where certain pieces of foliage or plant life would flicker

General Gameplay

  • Adjusted a large list of gods to reduce the chance that they would get in a situation where their basic attacks would de-sync from the characters animation.
  • Fixed an issue where the Tutorial was still using Hunter’s Blessing
  • Fixed an issue where King Arthur and Yemoja were not properly banned from all infinite cooldown/mana modes
  • Fixed a series of issues on the Conquest Map regarding the Base Gates
    • Base Gates should now function like player-made walls when interacting with abilities that care about walls. Ricochets should bounce off them, Chernobog can dash into them, and Janus can NOT portal through them.

Once we know of the latest patch notes, we’ll update the post.

Knockout City Won’t Require Nintendo Online Pass, Even After the Free Trial

Some good news for Nintendo Switch gamers who plan on jumping into Knockout City today, as the studio has confirmed that there won’t be any need for a Nintendo Online Pass, even after the free trial is over.

In a recent EA review event that we took part in for Knockout City, developers Velan Studio took to clarify some questions that invitees had. One of them was concerning whether or not Knockout City would require a Nintendo Online Pass subscription, seeing that the game isn’t free-to-play. The answer? No.

Will you need Nintendo Switch Online even after the block party, after the 10-day free trail is over?

Studio General Manager, David Nathanielsz: The answer is no. Right now there is no need for Nintendo Switch Online subscription during the block party, or after the block party.

Despite the Switch version not requiring a subscription to Nintendo Online Pass, both the PlayStation and Xbox will require PS+ and Gold respectively once the free trial period is over. Of course those who plan on getting Knockout City through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you won’t have to worry about having a Gold subscription separately as it’s included as part of the subscription.

Knockout City is now available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Next-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series) will be able to play the game via backwards compatibility. In the same review event, Velan Studios confirmed that they will add features to next-gen platforms “down the road.”

Knockout City Will Add Features for Next-Gen Platforms Down the Road

Velan Studio has confirmed that Knockout City will run native 4K at go frames-per-second (fps) on the PS5 and Xbox Series, though through boosted backwards compatibility, as the game does not have next-gen specific features. This could however change down the road.

In a recent EA review event that we took part in for Knockout City, developer Velan Studio took to a short Q&A session. In it, they were asked whether or not there would be any upgrades specifically for the PS5 and Xbox Series console. Here’s what they had to say.

Are there any upgrades or graphic advantages for players on the PS5 or Xbox Series X?

Karthik Bala, CEO of Velan Studios: So we currently at launch support the PS5 and Xbox Series through backwards compatibilities, and as part of that players on these new consoles will get a boost where they get native 4K at 60FPS and it’s butter smooth, it looks beautiful on the new platforms. As we said, across all platforms it’s pretty evenly balanced in terms of play no matter the input device or console. Even on Switch we have 60FPS at Switch resolutions. So we’re excited about next-gen consoles and to continue to evolve and add features to the game on those platforms down the road.

A bit of a bummer, but of course that should come as no surprise considering the game has not been officially announced for those platforms outside of backwards compatibility. Still, 60fps should suffice and judging from our play session Knockout City holds that frame-rate very well. It in all honesty is kind of hard to picture exactly what next-gen consoles can do for the game here. Although, PS5 Dualsense controller support might a very cool feature to add later.

Knockout City is now available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It is also playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series via backwards compatibility. Stay tuned to our review hitting the site soon.

No Man’s Sky Update 3.41 May 21 Treks Out (Update #3)

Update 3.41 for No Man’s Sky (NMS) has been released, following last week’s big Beachhead patch. Hello Games has released the No Man’s Sky update 3.41 May 21 patch, that should be for fixes that surfaced from the previous title update.

Note that this patch is out on last-gen and current-gen platforms, and clocks in at a hefty 3.6GB on PlayStation.

No Man’s Sky Update 3.41 Patch Notes:

Update #3: Hello Games has released the official patch notes, and mentioned that more surprises are coming “very soon.”

  • Added the ability to dismiss a frigate from your freighter fleet via the Fleet Management terminal.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Expedition rewards from being redeemed by players who had already earned parts of the reward from the Quicksilver shop.
  • Players starting the Beachhead expedition will now begin with warp fuel available.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent Nada, Polo and other Space Anomaly inhabitants from offering the correct dialog options if spoken to in abandoned systems.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Atlas Fireworks to have no audio.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the fleets tutorial from advancing if players skipped the initial conversations with the navigator and immediately built a Fleet Terminal.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Historiographical Dosimeter from being redeemed from the expedition rewards section of the Quicksilver shop.

Update #2: It looks like Hello Games added a surprise reward in the form of the Normanday ship from Mass Effect in this patch! Here are the details from the press release.

A surprise to the community, this Easter Egg moment is the reward for players that complete a mysterious expedition that appeared in the game during the past week. Players have until May 31 to undertake the expedition, to permanently add the Normandy SR-1 to their fleet.

As expected, Hello Games has not released the official patch notes just yet, though that should change in a few hours, and the Experimental build notes have not been updated too.

Reddit user Zig_Justice mentioned that this latest update fixes the Expeditions rewards issue!

PSA: Latest update fixes expedition reward issue
byu/Zig_Justice inNoMansSkyTheGame

Here are some of the known changes and issues straight from the community:

Reddit user Shadow_of_Fox said the following:

Looking at data files with missing content for end of expedition we expected a small patch adding that content around weekend, and here it is as community research is nearing completion

Once Hello Games releases the official changelog, we’ll update the post.

ARK Genesis Part 2 DLC Delayed to June 2, Main Theme and Key Art Released

Fans and players of the action adventure game ARK Survival Evolved will have to be a little patient for the next paid expansion pack of the game, as ARK Genesis Part 2 DLC has been delayed to June 2 while the main theme and new key art for the game have been released.

Here’s the main theme for those wondering how it will sound like — straight from Studio Wildcard themselves and composed by Gareth Coker.

Here’s the team themselves sending a heartfelt apology and explanation for the DLC’s delay via the game’s official website.

This final chapter of the ARK: Survival Evolved story is by far the most intricate and ambitious expansion we’ve yet created! We’re so excited to share it with you and proud of the team’s immense efforts, creativity, and passion. We truly believe Genesis 2 will be something special, and a fitting story conclusion to the journey you’ve taken with us in ARK over the past 6 years, and hope our players will feel likewise!

As many of you are aware, we transitioned to a fully-remote working environment at the beginning of last year. Shifting from a collaborative in-office workflow to remote comes with unique challenges.

The massive scope of Genesis Part 2, and our personally set challenge of ending ARK 1 with a bang, was compounded by the team having to work from home all the way through the forthcoming release. We have made the decision to delay the launch by one week, until June the 2nd. Just in time for the 6th Anniversary of ARK!

This was a difficult decision for us, since we’re as eager to get Genesis 2 into your hands as you are to play it–but ultimately we feel it’s the right decision to get the new content to our players in the best way on launch day, simultaneously across Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, and PlayStation.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play Genesis Part 2 and take the first steps to the end — or a new beginning? — that you will agree the wait will have been worth it!

As HLN-A would say, “Hang in there, Survivors!” — we’re almost home.

The last ARK Survival Evolved update 2.56 rolled out last April 30, and we covered the patch notes for that right here.

ARK Genesis Part 2 will be out this coming June 2.

Overwatch 2 New Maps, New Gameplay and Everything Revealed Today (Recap)

In case you didn’t know, Blizzard unloaded a ton of Overwatch 2 info today via the devstream showcasing PvP! While we already know the big change (possibly the biggest) incoming is how matches are now 5v5 instead of 6v6. there are new maps, a new mode called “Push,” and a lot more revealed today!

Ready? Dive in to see everything new revealed for Overwatch 2 today in this recap!

TEAMS OF FIVE (5v5 Team Change From 6v6)

The core Overwatch PvP experience will shift from six players per team to five players per team. In the standard PvP game modes of Overwatch 2, each team will contain one Tank, two Damage, and two Support heroes.

Role Passives abilities affect the gameplay with Damage heroes moving slightly faster than other roles, Support heroes regenerating health automatically after staying out of combat for a short period, and Tanks taking reduced knockback and providing less ultimate charge to opponents who damage them (compared to other roles).

Mei’s Endothermic Blaster will slow and deal damage, but not freeze enemies in Overwatch 2. Other heroes like Bastion are being reviewed and reworked from the ground up.

WAYS TO PLAY

We got a fresh look at Push, an Overwatch 2 game mode where players will clash to take control of a robot that starts in a central location and “push” it toward the enemy team’s base. First introduced during BlizzCon 2019, it’s
undergone a number of changes now that team structures have changed!

According to Blizzard, a new mode is being worked on for Overwatch 2, and we’ll get more details about it “soon.”

EXPLORING NEW MAPS

We visited five maps including a first look at Rio’s Escort PvP map, New York City (Hybrid) and Rome (Push)! Finally, we revealed the never-before-seen illustrious Monte Carlo (Escort)!

NEW LOOKS

Building upon the ever-growing roster of new looks coming with Overwatch 2, we revealed the new more battle-hardened Torbjörn!

These new looks also bear important changes to the UI and HUD for some heroes, including Mercy and Zenyatta.

When people think of big video game publishers/companies, they usually think of EA, Activision, and Ubisoft. New Back 4 Blood Trailer Features “The Cleaners,” Character Profiles Revealed

Developer Turtle Rock Studios has revealed a new Back 4 Blood trailer, and this one lets us meet “The Cleaners,” or what the game’s protagonists call themselves. In addition to the trailer, we also get a character profile for each via the press release.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb1_n-qa4zg

The complete team of Cleaners in Back 4 Blood includes:

  • Holly – After losing her family to the Devil Worm, Holly Forrester learned to channel all her energy into being a Cleaner and is known as the glue that keeps the team together. Armed with her trusty nail spiked baseball bat she affectionately calls “Dottie,” Holly’s resilience and never-say-die attitude helps boost the team’s morale and is often seen as a ray of light in the darkness of the apocalypse.

  • Walker – The oldest of five siblings, Elijah Walker was born in Evansburgh to a hardworking, blue collar family. The former Army Ranger and war-torn veteran is highly skilled with a wealth of front-line combat experience. Walker is a man of few words, but when he speaks, he commands the attention of his fellow Cleaners, who all respect his commitment to the fight.

  • Doc – She has been instrumental in keeping Fort Hope up and running, but this is far from the life Doc expected when she first came to America. Fiercely independent, she sacrificed social life for career. It wasn’t until years later that she finally found a kindred spirit in Mom. After the Collapse, Doc’s no-nonsense attitude and pragmatic outlook served her well. Though her bedside manner can take some getting used too, no one denies she’s one hell of a doctor and a mean shot to boot.

  • Karlee – Surviving on the outskirts of Fort Hope since the Collapse, Karlee only trusted in herself. No one knows much about her, and she’s fine with that. Though originally seen as a nuisance at best and a looter at worst, her actions have proved time and time again which side she’s on. Now with the Ridden on the rise, she’s made the choice to fight alongside the survivors. She may not be a Cleaner by name, but she more than makes up for it in attitude.

  • Jim – Nobody knows Finleyville and the surrounding county like Jim. From an early age, he would head out into the countryside with his father, hunting and trapping with the best of them. After a stint in the military, he returned home, only to see it ravaged by the Collapse. Now he’s found his place among the most trusted cleaners. When not fighting back-to-back with his team, he’s scouring the countryside of his beloved Pennsylvania routing out the Ridden infestation.

  • Hoffman – A meticulous individual, enthusiastic prepper, and conspiracy theorist. When the infection hit, he and his mother hunkered down and rode out the storm as the rest of the world fell into chaos. After his mother passed away in her sleep and his supplies ran out, he left his boarded-up house to face the world of the Devil Worm. Howard Robert Hoffman is genuinely skilled and good hearted, with an earnest desire to be a useful part of the team. As part of the Cleaners, he’s finally come across the family that he’s always wanted – he just had to wade through the zombie apocalypse to find it.

  • Evangelo – He may be the youngest and least experienced Cleaner on the team but has proven to be a quick study. Besides being good in a fight, Evangelo has established himself as a loyal and reliable member of the team. He tends to talk a lot, especially when he’s nervous, but is eager to show that he has what it takes to be a Cleaner.

  • Mom – The only person surprised that Mom became the voice of survivors in Finleyville was herself. She’s never shirked from a challenge and always puts the needs of others over her own. Still, for one who’s used to bucking authority, her newfound responsibility sometimes weighs uneasily on her. Although she has faith in her Cleaners, Mom has questioned other leaders’ strategies on more than one occasion, especially since the death of her son. Mom’s goal is simple, make the Ridden pay.

Back 4 Blood is out this October, with an open beta hitting this summer.

Overwatch 2 PvP to Shift From 6v6 to 5v5, 2 DPS, 2 Healers, 1 Tank

As mentioned previously by Blizzard, Overwatch 2 PvP and gameplay changes have been revealed today during the devstream. One of the biggest changes revealed is how Overwatch’s familiar 6v6 team matches are now being changed to 5v5!

This was revealed by Blizzard themselves during the devstream that’s happening now. It seems that players are now limited to having two damage dealers (DPS), two healers, and one tank per team composition, which will greatly alter how clashes play out.

Blizzard mentions that there are tank changes incoming which the studio will go into detail with, though they have commented that matches should feel faster now, choke points less difficult to get through, and will give force players to be more “tactical.”

We’ll have more on Overwatch 2’s PvP within the day, as more news surfaces.

Thanks, Benji-Sales!

Titanfall 1 & 2 Servers Being Attacked by Hackers

Just a few weeks ago, Titanfall 2 saw a resurgence that saw its multiplayer player count skyrocket. While that’s good news for the game, it seems other people are out to ruin everyone’s fun, as the Titanfall 2 (and Titanfall 1) servers are being attacked.

For now, it looks like Titanfall 1 on PC is still down, which has been an on-going issue acknowledged by Respawn before.

Here’s what the EA Help page shows for the Titanfall server status:

Titanfall 2’s servers are doing alright so far, though the Apex Legends news Twitter account mentioned how hackers are trying to bring it down too.

Over on Reddit, people have mentioned that the hacker is named “Tufi,” which was caught cheating in Apex Legends (another Respawn-developed game), and ran into legal issues with EA (publisher of the Titanfall games). You can read more about that here.

Hopefully, this all gets sorted out for the sake of the players, as there’s just nothing good that will come out of this.

Update: Respawn has acknowledged the attack

Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Accessibility Options Revealed

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games have revealed the accessibility options for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart ahead of its expected release on June 11. The options are the developers’ move to create a better gaming experience for players with disabilities, as they focus on 4 categories: Vision, Auditory, Motor/Dexterity, and Cognitive.

Using Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales as a foundation and learning experience for Ratchet & Clank’s accessibility options, Insomniac Games’ Advanced Senior User Experience Researcher, Michele Zorrilla, writes the key highlights for the features.

Contrast Options

Our Contrast Options are designed to make key information in the game world stand out for players who are blind or have low vision. These features were included in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and adapted for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. This section in the menu includes our High Contrast Background and Shaders for a variety of categories; players can use each setting independently or use them together.

High Contrast Background desaturates the background and leaves key elements like enemies or traversal objects in full color to help them stand out.

Contrast Options will include Shaders for the HeroAllies, and Enemies, with ten color choices.

For enemies, we chose to include one shader for all Enemy types and one for Bosses because silhouettes are diverse and easier to differentiate by shape alone. In the State of Play, you can see enemy types from Horned Toads to Needle Wasps in Sargasso to Nefarious Troopers of all shapes and sizes in Nefarious City.

We created three new shader categories – InteractableHazard, and Collectible – to help key items stand out while exploring or taking on enemies.

  • In Nefarious City, there’s a sequence where Ratchet must alternate between wall runs and swinging; turning the Interactable shader on will highlight those objects for better visibility amidst the hustle and bustle of this neon-lit environment.
  • The Hazard shader will help in hectic situations like arena combat where players may need to quickly distinguish objects that will hurt Ratchet or Rivet but aren’t enemies, like Explosive Crates.
  • On the lookout for Gold Bolts? With the Collectible shader, you can choose another color to help highlight these hard-to-find treasures!

Shortcuts and Game Speed

In Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, all four D-pad buttons are defaulted to Weapon Quick Select so players can quickly swap to their favorites. Each of these can be remapped to a variety of options, such as toggling Contrast Options on and off, throwing their weapon, or performing an overhead slam attack.

As part of our Shortcuts, the whole studio is excited to introduce our Game Speed options! These options were added for both Cognitive and Motor accessibility in response to reviews where players could feel overwhelmed in combat or had difficulty with quick inputs in traversal situations.

Players can assign speeds of 70%, 50%, or 30% to Shortcut buttons. Pressing the assigned Shortcut button will slow the game down to the chosen speed and pressing it again will return speed to 100%.

  • In a boss fight where you’re about to be bombarded with missiles and need more time to react? Game Speed can help!
  • Going through a tricky traversal section like the one in Nefarious City and need more time between button presses? Game Speed’s got you!
  • Holding on for dear life as a Speetle charges over the poisonous swamps of Sargasso and you need to sneeze but don’t want to pause? You guessed it, Game Speed to the rescue!

Accessibility has been a key topic amongst game developers in recent years, as more are pushing to create inclusive gameplayer for all types of players.

Ratchet & Clank is coming next month, and the download size has already been revealed to be a little over 42GB.

King of Fighters 15 Adds Ralf Jones and Clark Still to Complete the Ikari Warriors Team

One of the mainstay teams of SNK’s long running King of Fighters fighting game series reunites to the joy of fans, as King of Fighters 15 adds Ralf Jones and Clark Still to complete the Ikari Warriors team alongside Leona Heidern!

Here’s the reveal trailer of the double musclebound soldiers who return to the fight!

As the two playable characters who made their first appearance in the arcade shooter game Ikari Warriors, Ralf Jones and Clark Still are soldiers who serve under the leadership of Heidern, who teamed up with the duo during the first two King of Fighters games — KOF ’94 and KOF ’95. Eventually in the third game KOF ’96, Ralf was promoted to field leader and Heidern sent his adopted daughter Leona to replace his spot in the team. These three would eventually form the core trio of the Ikari Warriors team for most sequels thereafter, and fans would always be on the lookout for their return in each installment.

That completes the Ikari Warriors team for KOF 15. If you missed seeing Leona Heidern’s reveal trailer, you can check it out here.

The King of Fighters 15 has no release date yet, but it is slated for release some time this year.
