QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATES

New Slash Mode

  • This map is planned to launch in Q4 2021.
  • This new map is being designed to feel like both the Siege Rework and the Clash Rework, but at the same time. We are aiming to create a mode that both Siege mains and Clash mains will enjoy playing.
  • When looking at the problems with Siege, the team noticed that many aspects of Clash could be applied to help improve it. Clash had similar issues to be solved using Siege mechanics.
  • The two maps occupy a similar gameplay space in SMITE: Higher Combat, Lower Strategy – but with real lanes, towers, and jungle objectives.
  • These design conclusions are what compelled us to merge them into one map.
  • As the merging of the best parts of each map is such a primary goal – the name Slash will be sticking.
  • It will feature both Maya and Egyptian environments – each tied to the respective bases.
  • The mode will be 5v5, but using slightly more Siege mechanics than clash mechanics. SMITE is better balanced, a better social experience, and has higher player metrics on 5v5 modes.
  • Siege and Clash will both be removed as game modes at the time Slash releases.

Free Rewards – Additional Information

  • This system is fully enabled on PC and Xbox.
  • PS4 just recently released, however PS5 is still in development.
  • Nintendo Switch cannot support video streaming in game, and will never have access to these rewards.
  • Video opportunities are decided by a separate company from Hi-Rez.
  • There is a heavy amount of experimentation on how many total videos and how often video opportunities occur, so this system will feel mostly random to most players. It can also vary heavily by region.
  • The system will continue to feel random, so just keep an eye out for the button on the home screen to access them when available (or ignore them if you’re not interested).

Chest Screen

  • The section of the store where players can buy and roll chests has had its UI updated.

Baba Yaga

  • Applying a set of changes to improve the feel of playing Baba Yaga, mostly focused on her Ultimate Ability
    • Fixed an issue where the player camera and movement would jitter as this ability was fired
    • Fixed an issue where the Ultimate would go part of the way into its animation and FX but not actually fire
    • Decreased the duration of the self root when initially firing this ability
    • Fixed an issue where Baba’s movement and targeter would jitter when colliding with gods and walls while running around in her Ultimate state

General

  • The Babylonian Pantheon Music Theme that plays throughout the main menus has been adjusted to better fit the tone of Gilgamesh and to better fit the main menus.
  • Login Queue
    • This will now show to all players all the time
    • This is part of our server performance improvement initiative, and provides us a bit more time to properly log in players safely
    • The text of this message has been adjusted to fit this new use
  • Now will display the match mode, duration, and ID on the “Details” section of the end of match lobby as well as the main tab
BUG FIXES

UI

  • Fixed an issue where the Free Rewards progress bar would stop showing the correct progress

General Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue where Conquest Match of the Day modes were using the Season 7 map(already fixed in Live)
  • Fixed an issue where players set to queue in one region could be re-queued in a different region instead if a lobby failed (such as when a enemy player failed to pick)
  • Fixed an issue where players could not queue with friends even with MMR range in certain cases, such as playing with a friend who had not played ranked that season, or playing with a teammate in masters.
  • Fixed an issue where the St. Patrick’s Day Avatar was using the wrong art
  • Fixed an issue where the Siege mode could lead to an unintended interaction with Baron’s Brew

Gods

  • Janus
    • Fixed an issue where the Crash Test skin was invisible in game and lobby
  • Baba Yaga
    • Fixed an issue where Baba would not always be able to cleanse herself when hit by Awilix Ult
  • Chaac
    • Fixed an issue where you could interrupt the special emote of the Tier 5 skin and become invisible
  • Ra
    • Fixed an issue where the Unholy Doodle Ra Ability 2 and 4 was using default visual FX instead of the intended FX
    • Changed the motion of the Ability 1 visual FX to be faster and tighter, keeping it much closer to the intended hit area
  • Raijin
    • Fixed an issue where Raijin’s passive meter would appear to reset stacks on death. Raijin keeps his stacks through death and the visuals will now indicate this.
  • Thoth
    • Fixed an issue where the Book of Nightmares skin was missing an voice acted audio component on firing the ultimate.
Items
  • Sentinels Boon
    • Fixed an issue where this item’s passive ability was triggering on kills as well as assists, instead of just assists
  • Midgardian Mail
    • Fixed an issue where only this item would stack with other attack speed slows from items
8.4 BALANCE | LIVE WITH THE LAUNCH OF 8.4!

Game Modes

  • Live Conquest Update – The Rising Storm
    • King Gilgamesh arrives to challenge Tiamat, an act of aggression many gods disagree with. Offended by this, Tiamat summons an intense lightning storm. She also commands her hanging gardens to rampantly overgrow with dangerous plantlife.
    • The skybox and lighting of the Conquest map has changed to a dark and stormy style to display this development in the SMITE universe.
    • Additionally, a new gameplay mechanic is being introduced:
      • Vine Walls
        • Spawn in specific, symmetrical places around the jungle
        • Function like player made walls, you cannot walk through them
        • Can be destroyed by basic attacks only (# of hits not damage)
        • Walls respawn when the adjacent jungle camp respawns (even if killed only seconds before)
          • Oracles
          • Mid Harpies (GF)
          • Mid Harpies (FG)
        • All Vine Walls despawn at 15m
          • Also to use this for in-game queue image
            • Looking at tiamats castle + include skybox
            • Conquest
            • Ranked Conquest
            • Rank background image
  • Additional Conquest Balance/Features
    • Invisible Foliage Tech
      • When gods use an aerial ultimate, the leaves on trees within their ability range will become invisible temporarily.
      • This effect will only trigger when gods rise above a certain height
    • Tier 2 Towers
      • Increased Base HP from 2,500 to 2,800
      • Increased Base Damage per shot from 260 to 290
    • Greater Scorpion (Jungle)
      • Decreased Base Max Health from 780 to 660

        • Killing the middle phoenix removes the debuff areas for both doors

Items

(UPGRADED) BUMBA’S HAMMER
Bumba’s Hammer, Death’s Toll, and its upgrade Death’s Embrace allow for strong benefits from ‘hitting’ enemies. This hit however could be easily procced from range on immune Jungle Monsters. For items with true Lifesteal or healing you need to engage with the Jungle Monsters if you plan on gaining a benefit. This will now be the same for these items.
  • This item no longer procs on “immune” jungle camps

(STARTER) DEATH’S TOLL
  • This item no longer procs on “immune” jungle camps

(UPGRADE) DEATH’S EMBRACE
  • This item no longer procs on “immune” jungle camps

(UPGRADE) ORNATE ARROW
Ornate Arrow struggled to compete against other late game Hunter choices. It was often only efficient at its maximum stack count which was difficult to obtain and pushed your late game out even later. We are lowering the stack count and giving it some extra upfront power to smooth out this power curve. You will still need to make a smart investment but the risk will feel worth the reward.
  • This item now provides 10% Attack Speed.
  • This item now provides 5% Critical Strike Chance.
  • Passive
    • Decreased Maximum stack count from 25 to 20.
    • Increased Attack Speed from 1% per stack to 1.25% per stack. (25% at max stacks.)
    • Increased Critical Strike Chance from 0.8% per stack to 1% per stack. (20% at max stacks)

(UPGRADE) LEADER’S COWL
Leader’s Cowl was difficult to really build toward. Few gods could really go for Leather Cowl at the start of the game to provide their team with a strong late game aura. We are adjusting its base stats and giving the passive aura a baseline Power buff that can never be brought below 5% Power. The extra Attack Speed helps more gods itemize towards this strategy and that base Power Aura makes it useful even in direct 5v5 teamfights.
  • This item now provides 15% Attack Speed.
  • New Passive
    • AURA – You provide 5% increased Power to all nearby allied gods. This aura gains a bonus stack for each ally god within 55 units causing it to provide an additional 3% increased Power. For each enemy god within 55 units a stack is removed.

(UPGRADE) SENTINEL’S EMBRACE
Sentinel’s Embrace is the go to upgrade path for Supports and no wonder! It brings incredible survivability and utility making it difficult to explore other options. We are shifting strength away from the Aura, ensuring it still feels tanky enough to the Support who builds it but lowering the teamwide utility it provides.
  • Increased Passive Aura Range from 30 to 55 units.
  • Increased Physical Protection from 20 to 30.
  • Increased Magical Protection from 20 to 30.
  • Decreased Protections split among all nearby allies from 100 to 80.
  • Decreased Protections gains while alone from 50 to 40.

(UPGRADE) COMPASSION
Compassion is definitely a candidate for an item being pushed out by Sentinel’s Embrace but it had its own problems. The aura range made it difficult to stay relevant to targets you wanted to protect while the mitigation this item provided from this extra incoming damage was lacking. With the changes below it might be time to show a little Compassion to your allies.
  • Increased Passive Aura Range from 40 to 70 units.
  • Increased Magical Protection from 40 to 60.
  • Increased HP5 from 30 to 45.

(UPGRADE) SUNDERING AXE
Sundering Axe’s Passive is high impact. Opening fights with a strong amount of burst and restoring health quickly made this item not only attractive to Warriors but Mages as well. We love the idea that gods can be flexible with starters but Mages were able to really benefit from the upfront burst and defensive stats in a way that was more frustrating than a Warrior utilizing the same benefits. We are shifting Sundering Axe to consider your own Protections, making this just as strong for Warriors who currently build this but asking more from Mages who want to benefit from this items strength.
  • Decreased bonus damage from 10% of the enemy’s current health to 5% of the enemy’s current health + 2% of your total protections from items.

(STARTER) BLUESTONE PENDANT
One of the most popular aggressive starters isn’t quite packing the punch that people expect it to. Bluestone users need to have an early game advantage to make the item worth taking, even with its upgrades it tends to fall of harder in the mid game than other starters. We are boosting the physical power here to give it the strength it needs to get ahead early.
  • Increased Physical Power from 10 to 15

(UPGRADE) BLUESTONE BROOCH
Bluestone upgrades have had a lot of discussion recently. Brooch is intended to be the standard go-to upgrade for classic bluestone users like ability-hunters and aggressive-warriors. This item just wasn’t up to the same level as other starter upgrades, so now the passive will deal significantly more damage.
  • Increase Base damage of the passive from 25 to 75

(UPGRADE) THE ALTERNATE TIMELINE
This item is scary. It scared the devs a bit more than the players, though. We launched it with an especially long cooldown to match the especially powerful effect, but it seems it was tuned to be a bit too safe for balance. We are cutting this cooldown by a large amount to hopefully see the item in practice before making any further decisions on how to balance it.
  • Decreased Cooldown from 10m to 6m

STAFF OF MYRDDIN
  • Fixed an issue where this item was not triggering at the same time after Ultimate ability fires as the other Arthurian items

Gods

ACHILLES
He’s bold, he’s beautiful, he’s… not doing so hot right now. Achilles has dropped to some of his lowest numbers in both player perception as well as win% lately. This god can become very dominant in the solo lane with small changes, so we are playing it a bit safe here. He is seeing a small cooldown buff to his Shield Bash, which should help him without breaking him. We are also decreasing the amount he is punished for successfully executing an enemy. This effect is a powerful debuff that he should still feel, though.

SHIELD OF ACHILLES
  • Decreased cooldown from 15 to 14s.

FATAL STRIKE
  • Decreased bonus damage taken from 10% to 5%.
BACCHUS
Season 8 is a heck of a party but no one invited the god of wine?! Bacchus has shown some brief signs of strength in Conquest over the years, but he generally struggles there compared to other modes. This set of changes aims to make his competitive impact stronger. Chug will be even easier to maintain, and Belch, his primary lane clear ability, is seeing a damage increase.

CHUG
  • Decreased Mana cost from 40 to 20 at all ranks
  • Decreased Cooldown from 10s from 8s
  • Fixed Protections description to clarify the ability provides 0 protections at rank 0

BELCH OF THE GODS
  • Increase Base Damage from 25/40/55/70/85 to 30/45/60/75/90 per tick
JORMUNGANDR
The World Serpent is a fantastically unique god in SMITE, and after a powerful launch he was brought down by his rival gods in both the story and the game balance. We have been looking to bring Jorm back up since the start of Season 8, and we are still working toward that goal. These changes bolster his laning phase as well as his team fights. Consuming Bellow will let him basic attack in lane at full speed for longer after bellowing and Submerge will be on a lower cooldown helping him to engage or escape more often.

CONSUMING BELLOW
  • Increased duration of Empowered Attack Speed buff from 1s to 1.5s per stack

SUBMERGE
  • Reduced cooldown from 16s to 16/15/14/13/12s
MERLIN
The time has come for Merlin buffs. This god has dropped off heavily over the years while getting a variety of nerfs. Recently we have been focusing on bringing up his fire stance, often regarded as the weakest one. The protection shred has been pivoted to only work on gods now, but its generally very hard to stack, which heavily limits its impact. This is going to be much stronger on the first tick now, leveling out to about the same amount when hitting all ticks in the late game. Fire stance should now be more attractive to switch into, especially when trying to focus down and enemy tank.

DRAGONFIRE
  • Increased Protections Reduced per stack from .5/1/1.5/2/2.5% per tick to 4% at all ranks
  • Decreased max stacks from 6 to 4
    • Results in the change of – increased God-only protections reduced from 3/6/9/12/15% to 16% at max stacks
NEITH
The Weaver of Fate saw some impactful buffs last year, and we have been watching closely since then. Even with those changes, Neith has struggled in the current meta. Her abilities are powerful, but tend to be on much longer cooldowns than other hunters. To even the playing field we are decreasing the cooldown on her top priority ability.

SPIRIT ARROW
  • Decreased Cooldown from from 15s to 15/14.5/14/13.5/13s
OLORUN
New season, new map, new olympus, but Olorun feels like he was left behind in Season 7. Recently Sol and Chronos received buffs which made a solid impact on their stats, and now it’s Olorun’s turn. He will be getting two buffs that affect his basic attack damage, helping him match up better against other ADCs.

GENERAL
  • Increased Base Power from 38 to 40

TOUCH OF FATE
  • Increased the Critical Strike Damage from 50% to 55%
SERQET
The premier single target Assassin has been struggling to get kills lately. Serqet was seeing more play as a support, which was addressed through some previous changes. The final result seems to be that she’s being played less in both positions, we are applying two buffs to her both to push her back toward an aggressive jungler. The first change protects her passive from being wasted against effects like the Aegis Relic or block stacks, and the second adds a good bit of Physical Power scaling to her Ultimate. Serqet is a very all-in goddess, and those risky plays should pay off more frequently with these changes.

CATALYST (PASSIVE)
  • Stacks will only be consumed and extra damage dealt if Serqet successfully damages the god (as opposed to just “hit”)

LAST BREATH
  • Increased Power Scaling from 55% to 70%
SYLVANUS
This Guardian is certainly undervalued right now. Sylvanus brings a lot of control and Utility to the team, while also having some of the best lane clear because of his unique basic attacks. His passive is often a topic of discussion, and that is something we are working toward on a future update. For now, he is getting a few small damage buffs to help him lane more effectively. This should compliment his CC and healing well, resulting in a support that any ADC would be happy to have by their side.

GENERAL
  • Increase Basic Attack Damage from 35 to 38

VERDANT GROWTH
  • Increased Magical Power Scaling from 35% to 50%
TIAMAT
The Mother of Monsters has created quite an interesting start to the season. This goddess clearly has a learning curve, as we have seen her win% steadily grow since launch day. The kit is complex and provides many decisions to the player, a few of which are now showing themselves to be clearly the strongest option. Building Tiamat as a tank has created some frustrating interactions with her passive mitigations, so these will now require Magical Power to scale. Also, her serpents are showing themselves to be the best choice for her Ultimate. We are nerfing their split push potential in both damage and health, while also buffing the Storm to make this a more meaningful decision.

DEATH BEGETS LIFE
  • Decreased the Damage Mitigation from 60% to 30% + 5% of Tiamat’s Magical Power, Capping at a total 60% Mitigation at 600 Magical Power

SUMMON SERPENTS
  • Decrease number of hits it takes for minions to damage a serpent health pip from 3 to 2
  • Decreased Power Scaling from 8% to 5% of Tiamat’s Magical Power

SUMMON STORM
  • Adjusted description text to clarify that the initial damage is on first hit of each target, not on the deploy of the ability
  • Increased Initial Hit damage Scaling from 30% of your Magical Power to 40%
  • Increased tick damage Scaling from 10% of your Magical Power to 12% per tick

Fixed an issue with Arthurian Items not triggering at the intended times with Tiamat’s Ultimates

ZHONG KUI
Season 8 dev testing made it feel like Zhong Kui was back! His favorite old item, Vampiric Shroud, and some other meta changes made it look like he would be a major factor. That has not been the case. We are giving Zhong Kui a significant power scaling buff to his primary ranged damage and lane clear ability. This should give him a fighting chance against other mages in the meta.

EXPOSE EVIL
  • Increased Magical Power Scaling per tick from 15% to 20% (from 75% to 100% total)
POST PTS BALANCE AND BUG FIXES

Gilgamesh

  • Gilgamesh had a great PTS Cycle with everyone getting a great opportunity to drop kick some enemies around. In general he saw a lot of play and proved to be a strong contender for Solo Lane and Jungling. He has certainly lived up to his name, getting a lot of attention for being potentially overtuned. We wanted to make some adjustments before he goes live to take some of that edge off before going to Live. Specifically two components of his kit stood out. His early level burst and early to mid level sustained damage. Many players fell prey to the level 2 Gilgamesh in both solo lane and the jungle, getting kicked into a wall immediately dying. The displacement and CC is already strong enough but the base damage made it too potent. Combined with his 100% uptime on Sunforged Scimitar due to the ease of having a target to hit in Solo Lane he was very difficult to fight. By increasing the mana cost and reducing the cap some windows to fight back will open up. We are excited to see the King of Uruk make he way onto the Battleground of the Gods this Tuesday! See you all there!
  • Sun-forged Scimitar
    • Decreased maximum lifetime increase from 12s to 7s.
    • Increased Mana Cost from 60 to 60/65/70/75/80.
  • Drop Kick
    • Decreased Damage from 70/100/130/160/190 to 60/90/120/150/180.
    • Decreased Burst Damage from 70/115/160/205/250 to 50/100/150/200/250.

Apex Legends Stories From the Outlands Northstar Video Introduces Valkyrie

Fans of Apex Legends and Titanfall got a pretty awesome cinematic released from the folks behind both games, as Apex Legends – Stories From the Outlands Northstar video has been released — which introduces Valkyrie and adds a connective tissue to both universes that will get players excited.

Check out the new cinematic below and see who this new playable character in the game is.

Apex Legends Valkyrie Trailer

In the cinematic short above, we meet Valkyrie — the daughter of Titanfall 2’s Viper. Viper was an Apex Predator who was killed by Jack Cooper in that game, and it looks like daddy’s little girl is now out for revenge… Or so it seems. Meeting with Blisk, the woman who’s real name is Kairi Imahara has her journey ahead of her — and it’s up to players to guide her through those events in the world of Apex Legends.

Here’s the character’s bio description as featured in the official Apex Legends website:

“Bold, brash, fiery and fierce, Kairi Imahara grew up in the shadow of her father’s legacy. But now she’s ready to launch her own.”

It also appears that Viper’s legacy and the use of the Titan Northstar will somehow play into Valkyrie’s abilities, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

In related Apex Legends news, Apex Legends Mobile begins regional beta testing in India and the Philippines this month.

Rose is Now Available to Play in Street Fighter 5

If you’re craving for some new fighters to play in the world of Street Fighter then fortune has literally graced you, as Street Fighter Alpha veteran and fan favorite character Rose is now available to play in Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition as the second DLC character for Season 5!

Check out the gameplay trailer for this mystic magic user and Menat’s master here!

As a returning character with a new set of moves up her sleeve, here’s an overview of Rose’s SF5 iteration courtesy of Capcom’s press release.

With her latest iteration, Rose comes equipped with powerful moves that longtime Street Fighter fans are sure to recognize. Her “Soul Satellite” makes its return from Street Fighter IV as a V-Skill, allowing Rose to summon orbs and put pressure on her opponents. Her “Soul Illusion” from the Street Fighter Alpha series comes back as a V-Trigger which creates a mirrored Rose that performs the same attack shortly after she does, inflicting heavy damage.

Rose also wields a brand new set of moves such as her “Soul Fortune” V-Skill, allowing her to draw one of four tarot cards to buff herself or debuff her opponents. This new skill unlocks a new dimension of gameplay for Rose players, who can now decide when to play offensively or defend themselves depending on the tide of battle. “Soul Dimension” is Rose’s new V-Trigger move which she can use to teleport to one of three spots on the screen to offer expanded combo options.

Street Fighter 5’s latest update 3.08 brings Rose into the game as well as a new stage, and you can read the details on that patch here.

Street Fighter 5 is available to play on both PS4 and PC.

Watch Returnal Director Harry Kruegar Talks About the Enemies of the Game

In just a few short weeks, PlayStation 5 owners will venture into an alien world where the protagonist is caught in a loop and must fight through hordes of powerful beings, and Returnal director Harry Kruegar talks about the enemies of the game in a new HouseCast video to shed light on how the threats players will face were created.

Here’s the video presentation from the folks at Housemarque games.

In the HouseCast series of videos, the Returnal team have given gamers a sneak peek and in depth analysis of the much anticipated game — especially when it comes to its time loop concept and the strange alien world the protagonist Selene faces. Trapped in an alien world where there is seemingly no escape and forced to repeat the same scenario all over again every time she dies, Selene faces very powerful enemies that are relentless at every cycle — and the situation changes to the point that there is no definite pattern or strategy to follow. Players will have to use their wits and test their skills in this visually stunning game like never before.

Speaking of the game, check out the recently released Hostiles trailer for Returnal here.

Returnal hits PS5 at the end of this month on April 30.

Sony Announces PlayStation Store to Continue for PS3 and PS Vita

In a surprise announcement, Sony President and CEO Jim Ryan, relinquishes the company’s previous decision on closing the PlayStation Store on the PS3 and PS Vita this coming summer.

The move to maintain operations came after numerous feedback from users during the initial announcement of its closing

“I’m glad that we can keep this piece of our history alive for gamers to enjoy, while we continue to create cutting-edge new game worlds for PS4, PS5, and the next generation of VR,” writes the announcement via the PlayStation Blog.

According to Sony, the devices’ ability to purchase was meant to end by July for multiple reasons, including focus on the support for newer machines.

When we initially came to the decision to end purchasing support for PS3 and PS Vita, it was born out of a number of factors, including commerce support challenges for older devices and the ability for us to focus more of our resources on newer devices where a majority of our gamers are playing on. We see now that many of you are incredibly passionate about being able to continue purchasing classic games on PS3 and PS Vita for the foreseeable future, so I’m glad we were able to find a solution to continue operations.

Unit production had already ended for PS3 in 2017, as Japan was the last country to discontinue. The PS Vita was only discontinued in production in 2019.

With this decision now reversed, the only platform that will be seeing store closure this Summer will be for the PSP. Luckily, the PS Vita supports past PSP games so purchases of those old titles will continue as normal.

Apex Legends Update 1.66 April 19 Released (Update)

While we just got an Apex Legends patch last week that introduced the War Games event, Respawn Entertainment has released the Apex Legends update 1.66 April 19 patch today.. Head on below for more details.

Apex Legends Update 1.66 April 19 Patch Notes:

Update: Hours after it went live, Respawn has finally ackowledged what the patch was for, and it’s to plug an exploit.

Currently Respawn Entertainment has not released any official patch notes for today’s title update. However, here is the latest issues being tracked and investigated by Respawn from the Trello board.

Just under 450 Apex players globally have been affected by a persistent account bug that prevents login (sometimes tied to the common “code:net” error message).

We’ve begun manually restoring these accounts and have fixed about 70% of those reported.

If you’re experiencing persistent login issues, please reach out via our help site at https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Code-Net-info-gathering/td-p/10165227

For affected players who’ve been locked out of their accounts for extended lengths of time, we’re also going to be granting items and rewards as a small make-good.

We’re on the lookout for more fixes rolled out, and if Respawn issues the path notes, we’ll update the post. Same as before, if you spot any gameplay-related changes or fixes, let us know what you find down in the comments.

Update: Post has been updatedd with the proper changes made.

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 3 Announced – Here’s What’s Coming This Week

Another day, another weekly Call of Duty update, this time on the announcement of the much anticipated Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 3! here’s everything we know coming April 22 and beyond!

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 3 Announcement and Details

The Story So Far: Perseus’ Next Move

Naga’s forces kept Frank Woods and his CIA strike team busy searching for Russell Adler in the Golden Triangle, buying Stitch the vital time he needed to initiate the next phase of his grand plan. Naga’s distraction may yet turn out to be the pivotal action that determines the course of the Cold War.

Meanwhile in Russia, two Perseus operatives travel to Mount Yamantau on a mission to recover top-secret files from a long-forgotten clandestine program for Stitch’s cause.

Woods and his team gear up to follow the intel uncovered at Naga’s base of operations in Laos. All signs point to Verdansk, and Adler’s fate is in their hands…

This is Season Three in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, officially launching on April 22. The season goes live following updates to Black Ops Cold War on April 20 at 9 PM PT and to Warzone on April 21 at 9 PM PT.

The biggest missing piece of the puzzle involves the chaos currently raging across Verdansk in Warzone. While the latest intel is detailed below, Containment Protocol status reports are still incoming from Armistice Central Command.

Here is the declassified reconnaissance so far on the upcoming season:

“Hunt for Adler” Event

Starting with the launch of Season Three, the new “Hunt for Adler” limited-time event will task Operators with unique in-game challenges in both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone to learn of Adler’s whereabouts. Complete these Intel Challenges to unlock Event rewards, including Weapon Charms, Calling Cards, a new Operator Skin, and more.

You can find more details about this event in the Seasonal Event tab on the main menu between Play and Weapons once Season Three kicks off in Warzone. Once you’ve completed a full set of challenges in either Black Ops Cold War or Warzone over the course of the event, you’ll unlock an exclusive Adler skin for use in both games!

Three New Operators, One Old Friend

Wraith: Warsaw Pact (Launch Week)

This ex-Norwegian Intelligence Services alpine warfare specialist-turned-Perseus-agent makes a grand entrance demonstrating her skills in infiltration and sabotage. A vital asset in winter operations, cold-blooded and intolerant of weakness, she’s the perfect antagonist to fight against the NATO forces.

Get access to Wraith for use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at Tier 0 in the Season Three Battle Pass, and unlock an additional Legendary Wraith Operator Skin at Tier 100.

Knight: Warsaw Pact (In-Season)

The second member of the deadly Perseus duo responsible for the events at Mount Yamantau is Roman “Knight” Gray. Born for the kill, Knight is a Dublin-born former MI6 wetworks operative who loves what he does. He joined Perseus to bathe in the glory of the chaos they promise. Happiest when killing in close quarters, he’s a brutal force to be reckoned with.

Antonov: Warsaw Pact (In-Season)

An ex-hitman, Antonov joined the military in lieu of serving extended jailtime for his crimes. His expertise as a paid killer makes him an extremely valuable and lethal asset. Distrusted by the Warsaw Pact because of his criminal past, he finds himself assigned duties no one else wants: bomb defusal and hazmat work.

Get access to Knight and Antonov as part of the new Season Three Store bundle offerings.

Price Arrives in Black Ops Cold War

The worlds of Modern Warfare™ and Black Ops are colliding once more, as a Legendary Operator joins the fray in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.

That Operator is none other than Price ‘84, propelled into the Cold War era and outfitted in tactical gear suited for the most clandestine of wetwork operations.

Those who purchase any version of Black Ops Cold War at the start of Season Three will receive the Price ’84 Operator for use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. Plus, anyone who already owns Black Ops Cold War will automatically receive the Price ’84 Operator at the start of Season Three.

Simply log into Black Ops Cold War following the Season Three Update to add Price ’84 to your roster of elite Operators. You will need to go online in Black Ops Cold War first before he appears as a playable character in Warzone.

Note: The Black Ops Cold War Price ‘84 Operator is separate from the Modern Warfare Price Operator.

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 3 Weapons

Six New Weapons

PPSh-41: SMG (Launch Week)

When you need to spit fire, pick up the PPSh-41 SMG, an absolute classic in the series. Though its damage per shot is moderate, its rapid-fire, high-capacity capabilities encourage an aggressive playstyle ideal for leading the charge in objective modes and clearing out tight spaces in Warzone.

Obtain the PPSh-41 for free, ready to use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at Tier 15 of the Season Three Battle Pass.

Swiss K31: Sniper Rifle (Launch Week)

Precision and power. The Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle was made for one neutral country ready to rearm for world war, but will now find itself in the arsenals of the NATO and Warsaw Pact forces. This bolt-action sniper rifle boasts exceptional accuracy, as well as fast rechamber and aiming speeds with a large ammo capacity. Aggressive sharpshooters will be in their element with this new rifle, whether it’s sniping out in the wilds of Warzone or pushing forward on objectives in Black Ops Cold War.

Ballistic Knife: Melee (Launch Week)

A versatile weapon first introduced in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, this iteration of the Ballistic Knife is a rare piece of spy technology developed in the late 1970s by Soviet Forces.

The spring-action knife launcher can either be used as a melee weapon or to silently fire lethal retrievable blades. It is most effective at short ranges, but the most skilled Operators could theoretically land a deadly hit from extreme distances. Available in Black Ops Cold War at the launch of Season Three and in Warzone mid-season.

CARV.2: Tactical Rifle (In-Season)

Carve through the competition with this burst-fire tactical rifle, joining the ranks of the M16 with its high-damage, high-bullet-velocity output. Boasting moderate firepower with solid recoil control and a large ammo pool, the CARV.2 cuts the deepest when used for mid- to long-range engagements.

AMP63: Pistol (In-Season)

The Secondary category gets even deeper later in Season Three thanks to the AMP63 pistol. Slotting in as the fourth sidearm in Black Ops Cold War’s arsenal, this personal defense weapon is a cross between a self-loading pistol and a fully automatic SMG. Expect this weapon to output high amounts of damage in a short period of time thanks to its full-auto nature, which makes it highly effective in close quarters.

Baseball Bat: Melee (In-Season)

A classic bruiser’s weapon of war, and Black Ops Cold War’s newest addition for one-hit melee fans. Unlock the Baseball Bat in Season Three, and get out there and crack some skulls in Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone.

Obtain the Ballistic Knife, CARV.2, AMP63, and Baseball Bat during Season Three in one of two ways: complete an in-game challenge to obtain the free base weapon, or pick up a bundle with a Blueprint version when it appears in the Store.

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 3  – BLACK OPS COLD WAR CONTENT

Four Multiplayer Maps and Additional Features

Yamantau (6v6, Launch Week)

Bury your enemies in an avalanche of firepower as you fight through the crumbled remains of the Soviet observatory on Mount Yamantau. Battle through a massive downed satellite dish, snowy interiors, and broken catwalks, and fast-rope up and over your enemies to get the jump on the competition.

Diesel (6v6/2v2/3v3, Launch Week)

In the lonesome desert, this slice of Americana erupts into a battleground. Gear up for 6v6, as well as 2v2 and 3v3 in Gunfight on this fast-paced and frenetic map. Battle around the gas station and its surrounding buildings, smack dab in the middle of the badlands. Get frying.

Standoff (6v6, In-Season)

This Black Ops II classic is an icon to fans and pros alike, and in Season Three, it’s coming to Black Ops Cold War. Compete in 6v6 on this medium-sized map, which features a timeless three-lane feel and plentiful opportunities for outsmarting your opponents. Watch those buildings and mind the van over near the hay bales.

Duga (Multi-Team, In-Season)

Deploy with your squad to the Ural Mountains in this expansive new Multi-Team environment. Duga offers something for every playstyle, whether you prefer to move through the central admin offices for close-range battles, or work your way around the perimeter through the bus depot to the chemical processing plant for long-range battles. If you can’t immediately decide where to take your skills, try making your way atop the array tower for a fantastic view before parachuting off to your destination of choice.

Can’t wait until mid-season to play Duga? Get ready to drop into the map coming exclusively to Zombies in Outbreak at launch for the first half of Season Three (see below)!

And with the return of the Ballistic Knife at launch, that can mean only one thing for Multiplayer:

Sticks and Stones Returns at Season Launch

Yes, the hugely popular Multiplayer mode is back for Black Ops Cold War, continuing Treyarch’s time-honored party mode tradition.

It’s every Operator for themselves, with each player deploying with the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow, Ballistic Knife, and a Tomahawk. Earn score with crossbow and Ballistic Knife kills, and eliminate enemies with the Tomahawk to bankrupt their score to zero. The first player to reach the score limit or the player with the highest score when the timer expires wins.

Multi-Team Elimination (In-Season)

The upcoming Multi-Team Elimination mode brings the last-team-standing experience to Black Ops Cold War’s biggest maps, where multiple teams of four will fight to survive ever-expanding radiation zones. Redeploys will be limited and loadouts will be restricted, so teams will need to scavenge for weapons, Scorestreaks, Armor, Redeploy Tickets, and more. Emerge as the last team standing or the first squad to board the exfil chopper in the final safe zone to achieve victory.

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 3  New Tools of the Trade

Scorestreak: Strafe Run (Launch Week)

Call upon a pair of jet fighters to shower lead and rockets down upon the DZ with this new mid-tier Scorestreak, perfect for racking up kills or holding down an area while your team captures the objective. With a longer active period and higher potential for kills compared to Scorestreaks like the Napalm Strike, the Strafe Run is a solid choice for any MP mode.

Cargo Truck (Launch Week)

Available across Multi-Team modes, the Cargo Truck is a massive beast of machinery capable of fitting a few Operators in its open truck bed, in addition to a driver and copilot. What the Cargo Truck lacks in speed, it makes up for in firepower, coming equipped with a mounted machine gun that allows a teammate to provide cover against potential threats.

Take control of the Cargo Truck on Ruka, Alpine, and Golova at launch, and in Duga later in the season. Don’t forget to set up those War Tracks before jumping into the driver’s seat!

New Outbreak Content and More in Zombies

New Field Upgrade: Toxic Growth

Mother Nature bites back with this new Field Upgrade in round-based maps and Outbreak, guaranteed to slow down the undead masses. By harnessing Aetherium Crystals, Requiem’s R&D team has developed Toxic Growth, an activatable Field Upgrade that summons a deadly growth of toxic thorns in front of an Operator.

Enemies moving through it have their movement speed halved and suffer toxic damage until they exit the affected area. Through the use of Aetherium Crystals, Operators can upgrade Toxic Growth to give it more charges, double its damage, and even cause enemies who perish from the growth to explode!

New Outbreak Region: Duga (Launch Week)

The Dark Aether story comes to a fever pitch in Season Three as Requiem expands its operations in Russia. Keep the hordes at bay as you and your squad fight through the massive new Duga region set in the Ural Mountains, packed with new documents, audio logs, radio transmissions, and artifacts hidden throughout the Outbreak Zone. Uncover new secrets of the Dark Aether as the stage is set for the events yet to come…

New Outbreak Vehicles: FAV and Cargo Truck (Launch Week)

Hit the road with two new vehicles for Outbreak, and take down some zombies while you’re at it thanks to their built-in armaments. The high-speed Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV) is ideal for gunning down zombies while racing for the next objective, while the Cargo Truck is big enough to fit the whole squad as you hunt down those Special and Elite zombies.

New Outbreak World Events and Features (Launch Week)

Experience new interactive events throughout the Ural Mountains to earn in-game rewards! For the first time in Outbreak, gain access to upgrades for the D.I.E. Machine Wonder Weapon, unlock the powerful Aether Tool item by destroying Fury Crystals, discover the secret to warping ahead to higher difficulty regions even faster, and more.

Expanded Outbreak Objectives (Launch Week)

Outbreak objectives are now active in more locations than ever before in Season Three. Encounter the Defend, Retrieve, and Holdout Objectives in more regions for even more variety in every Outbreak match.

New Onslaught Content (PlayStation) (Launch Week)

PlayStation players can take on the undead to earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Chalices in Onslaught on the new Yamantau map at launch, and on Standoff mid-season. Look for a new limited-time mode in Onslaught later in Season Three, as well.

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 3  New Prestige Levels—Time to Hit Prestige 15

At the start of Season Three, your Season Level will refresh to Level 1, and your progress will resume from the highest Prestige Level you achieved previously. This season offers four additional Prestiges to achieve across the first 200 levels, as well as a new Weapon Blueprint:

·        Level 50: New Prestige, Emblem, Prestige Key, Weapon Blueprint, and Battle Pass Tier Skip

·        Level 100: New Prestige, Emblem, Prestige Key, and Battle Pass Tier Skip

·        Level 150: New Prestige, Emblem, Prestige Key, and Battle Pass Tier Skip

·        Level 190: All Season Challenges Available

·        Level 200: New Prestige, Emblem, Prestige Key, Battle Pass Tier Skip, Master Prestige Calling Card

·        Levels 250 – 1,000: New Prestige Key every 50 levels

This means you can earn four new Prestige Levels during Season Three — now 15 in total — and you can always catch up to the latest available Prestige if you didn’t reach it during the previous season.

Reach Level 200 in Season Three to achieve the title of Prestige Master for this season. This changes your Season Level color and grants you the ability to personalize your Prestige Icon with Legacy Prestige Icons from previous Call of Duty games — including from the original Black Ops — simply by spending some of your hard-earned Prestige Keys at the Prestige Shop.

You can continue past Level 200 all the way to Level 1,000 during Season Two and receive Prestige Key milestone rewards at every 50 levels along the way.

Finally, don’t forget that your Prestige-leveling journey is synchronized with Warzone and Modern Warfare®, meaning you can progress through Season Levels and increase your Prestige Level by earning XP in any of the three titles!

New Multiplayer and Zombies Season Challenges

Unlock new customization content and XP bonuses by completing new Season Challenges and Operator Missions in Multiplayer and Zombies. Complete all Season Challenges for a specific mode (Multiplayer or Zombies) to unlock a massive bonus of 10,000 XP and a badass Animated Master Calling Card to add to your Profile and Calling Card Showcase.

Remember, you can still complete Season Challenges from Seasons One and Two, as long as you hit the level requirement in each one!

Warzone Intel

Almost all communication resources within Verdansk are dedicated to ensuring the survival of all Operators through the Containment Protocol. Those unaware with the latest events or those who wish to have a refresher may find one below:

The Story So Far: Containment Protocol

After a doomed cargo tanker ran aground in Verdansk near the Zordaya Prison Complex, all hell broke loose.

Upon further investigation by all Operators working across faction lines, the tanker ship held remnants of deadly biochemical weapons, some of which had effects unknown to the greater world when Stitch originally researched them. Those effects were made clear with the other cargo this ship held: zombies. Mutated undead beings that, in rare cases, had the ability to emit electromagnetic pulses or explode into noxious gas, or were heavily armored on some areas of their body.

The zombies were only limited to this shipwreck during the initial weeks of the season, but as tracked by Armistice Central Command, the undead moved to different areas of Verdansk. At first, it seemed that the zombies only moved from area to area and that no spread was occurring… until, in the most recent Containment Protocol, it was found that contamination stayed within zones, triggering clouds of unknown gas. Fortunately, plenty of Gas Masks can be found within these Corruption Zones, but if an Operator dies within one, they perish and turn into one of the slavering undead.

Verdansk is About to Heat Up in a Big Way

The situation in Verdansk has hit a critical level. It seems the combat zone has become too dangerous for even a Tier 1 Operator to survive in. Is a conflagration imminent? The answer is still unknown, though it is recommended you clear your schedule for the week and ready yourself for a crescendo of utter chaos within the Warzone. Be certain you’re available for Operation Rapid Sunder throughout Wednesday, April 21 and beyond.

Armistice Central Command will be communicating directly to all Operators with further instructions, starting at 12 PM Pacific Time on April 21. Return to the Call of Duty blog—and to Warzone—on this date to receive updates.

Season Three File Size Update

The Season Three update will be available for Black Ops Cold War on April 20 at 9 PM PT and will be available for Warzone April 21at 9 PM PT.

Killing Floor 2 Update 1.52 April 19 Strolls Out for Hotfixes

Tripwire Interactive has just released a small hotfix making it’s way over onto PlayStation and Xbox players. Here’s the lowdown on what Killing Floor 2 Update 1.52 fixes.

Killing Floor 2 Update 1.52 Patch Notes | Killing Floor 3 Update 1.0.3.1 Patch Notes

Bug fixes included:

  • Gravity Imploder: Addressed an issue with the weapon that was causing the game to lock for Xbox users.
  • Dosh Vault: Addressed an issue where users could be awarded large amounts of dosh causing the game to stay in the Dosh Vault for extended periods of time.

Known issues:

  • Playstation: New users will not be granted their first launch dosh if they receive any other dosh rewards in game prior to visiting the Dosh Vault.

Not a very major update in terms of new content as you can see, but Xbox users should hopefully be issue free with using the Gravity Imploder now. If we spot any other changes reported by the community, as always, we will be sure to update this post.

For now, we hope everyone is enjoying the last content drop, Dystopian Devastation.

The biggest changes with the update are the nerfs done to the recently released pistol, the Sykov. It will see a number of damage reduction to attachments along with movement decreases when using them in akimbo. Media Molecules has released the Dreams Update 2.23, which addresses minor bug fixes most likely on the backend of the game.

Dreams Update 2.23 Patch Note

  • Minor Bug Fixes

Unfortunately this update doesn’t seem to be very detailed as Media Molecules has only cited minor bug fixes to be included in this update. Hopefully they release a more detailed log, but seeing that it’s what they display on their own website chances are these are for some backend bugs. If we hear anything from the community or more from Media Molecules we will be sure to update this post. In the meantime, here’s a list of of known features and bugs that the team is currently working on.

Features in Progress

  • New Community Jam playlist update

  • Ancient Danger Kit

Known Issues Being Worked On

  • Blank thumbnails on creations/pre-load fails – Players have encountered an error when trying to load creations, where no thumbnail is shown for the creation and a message is received reading ‘Pre-loading has failed’.
  • Release issues for owned creations – Players have encountered issues when trying to release particular creations, despite having full permissions for those creations.
  • Activity Feed Issues – Users are encountering an issue when scrolling through notification feeds, where they are sent back to previous points in the feed.
  • Backwards compatibility issue from update 2.08 – Backwards Compatibility from Dreams update 2.08 issue affecting imp possession.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue in which using Akuma’s Sekia Kuretsuha on the Ring of Galaxy stage would cause effects to not display correctly.

Battle Adjustments

Chun-Li

  • Fixed an issue in which a crouching medium punch, crouching medium kick, or crouching heavy kick could connect with certain high/mid-hitting attacks while Renkiko (V-Trigger I) is active.

Birdie

  • The adjustments made in version 06.001 caused the special version of M. Hanging Chain, which has slower start-up than the normal version, to be performed instead when canceling into the move from a standing medium punch.
  • This was not intended, so we’ve sped up the start-up of the special version of M. Hanging Chain when canceling into it from a standing medium punch.

Laura

  • Fixed an issue in which Laura would become temporarily invincible when canceling Spark Show (V-Trigger I).
  • Fixed an issue in which Laura would exhibit strange behavior during the screen slow-down effect of a successful V-Shift performed at specific timing while performing the two follow-up attacks to Volty Sprink (V-Skill II).

Dhalsim

  • Fixed an issue in which Dhalsim would become temporarily invincible while staggering immediately after Alex’s Sledgehammer hits him.

F.A.N.G

  • Fixed an issue in which F.A.N.G would become temporarily invincible when canceling Koryo Dokuda (V-Trigger II).

Balrog

  • Fixed an issue in which Balrog would become temporarily invincible if the player canceled into Crazy Rush (V-Trigger I) or No Mercy (V-Trigger II) from certain attacks.

Blanka

  • Fixed an issue in which Blanka would move in a strange way with certain inputs when performing Rock Crusher.

G

  • Fixed an issue in which G would become temporarily invincible when canceling Maximum President (V-Trigger I) or Dangerous President (V-Trigger II).
  • Fixed an issue in which getting knocked down once would cause G to drop two levels under certain conditions.

Gill

  •  Extended the hitbox of Gill’s jumping heavy punch inwards to prevent the attack from missing certain characters.
  • Fixed an issue in which the entirety of Cryokinesis would behave differently if canceled into from crouching heavy punch or Cryo Rise Kick while Ice of Doom (V-Trigger II) is active.

Dan

  • Fixed an issue in which certain inputs would cause Dan to become temporarily invincible when activating Haoh Gadoken (V-Trigger I).
  • We have also made other minor fixes and improvements.

Update: Full notes are now live (above)

Capcom has yet to release the official patch notes for Street Fighter 5 update 3.08, but we know for certain from the Street Fighter 5 Winter Update stream that this update adds support for the newest fighter, Rose.

She isn’t the only thing dropping in this update either as it will also bring the new Marina of Fortune stage for players to battle on.

The update are pretty sizable, with the PS4 version being 28GB and the Steam being 18GB. Chances are there are plenty of other balances, gameplay changes, and bug fixes included in this update, though at the moment Capcom’s patch site is under maintenance. We will be sure to update this post once the official patch notes are live.

Is Street Fighter 5 (SFV) Server Down?

For those curious, Street Fighter 5 servers are also down at the moment due to a scheduled maintenance in preparation for today’s update. We will also update this post once wee have confirmation that they are live again.

This Fan-Made PS5 Animated Cover for Demon’s Souls Needs to Be Seen to Be Believed

While gamers have seen thousands of boxart for games, this fan-made one that features a PS5 animated cover for Demon’s Souls is something else, and is just flat-out awesome.

Made by Dylan Green, check out the Demon’s Souls PS5 game case showcasing an animated cover where we see the flames move, and even a psuedo-3D effect!

https://imgur.com/nEDB08g

Dylan also shared some behind-the-scenes to MP1st in the creation process, which you can check out below.

I have to admit, seeing this makes me want to have Sony do it in an official capacity for their games. I mean, sure it would require your phone’s camera or something to work, but still, imagine the possibilities!

You can check out Dylan’s website here, or his YouTube channel to see if he makes more or has something else cooking up.
