Rumor: Battlefield 2021 Might Not See a Last-Gen (PS4, Xbox One) Release

While DICE or EA has yet to formally announce the Battlefield game set to launch later this year, we do know that it’s set to be revealed soon. Even without any direct announcement, the rumor mill has been churning out stuff regarding the game, and the latest one mentions that Battlefield 2021 might not see a current-gen release.

Over on Twitter, reliable Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson (also known as LongSensation on YouTube), has tweeted that he has not heard anything “concrete” regarding Battlefield 2021’s launch on the PS4, and Xbox One.

In other news, I still have yet to hear anything concrete that #BATTLEFIELD will come to past gen consoles. Theory – It indicates to me that it probably won’t and the biggest reason #BATTLEFIELD will come to the Xbox Game Pass on day 1 is to boost up player numbers.

Bear in mind, this is a rumor until confirmed or refuted by DICE or EA. Having said that, it’s a bit hard to see EA not pushing the game on the PS4 and Xbox One given the two consoles’ player base. That’s a lot of money to be left off the table if that’s the case, and given how hard it is to get a PS5 and Xbox Series X, it might affect the player pool as well, which would make playing online a wee bit harder when it comes to matchmaking.

In other Battlefield 2021 rumors, another one surfaced last month claiming that game  will feature Call of Duty-like perks, which you can read about here.

Would ypu want Battlefield 6 or whatever it’s called, to only be playable on next-gen platforms so it’s not gimped by the PS4 and Xbox One’s limitations? Share your thoughts down in the comments.

Castlevania Season 4 Hits Netflix This May, Will Be the Final Season of the Series

Looks like the long wait for the next season of the critically acclaimed Castlevania animated series is at an end, as Castlevania Season 4 hits Netflix this coming May. However with that also comes the news that this will be the final season of the series — ending the current tales of those who have fought against, worked with, or continued the dark legacy of the lord of the vampires himself, Dracula.

Here’s the trailer to the new season, which features the map of Transylvania and the voices of the cast heard as it shows.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dW1FdL1AiY

Originally launching its first season in July of 2017, Castlevania is an animated series adaptation of the popular side-scrolling adventure series of the same name published by Konami. Largely inspired and adapting the story of the third installment in the series Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse, the show follows the adventures of Trevor Belmont, a member of the disgraced Belmont clan who joins forces with a speaker magician named Sypha and the son of Dracula named Alucard to take on the Lord of Darkness himself. The first three seasons chronicle these three unlikely allies working together, while also exploring the other members of Dracula’s court, the effects of his legacy in Transylvania, and the story of Dracula himself and his love of a human doctor named Lisa. Those who grew up with the critically acclaimed sequel Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are drawn to this show because of the art style and lore which draws inspiration from that game itself.

Created and written by comic book writer Warren Ellis, Castlevania on Netflix was met with critical acclaim — however Ellis’ involvement in the series was cut short because of sexual misconduct allegations placed against him last summer. The writer has finished his work in the upcoming season, but he will no longer be involved in the project either. Also, this will indeed be the series’ last season as reported by Deadline — with a new series set in the same universe taking its place with new characters and premiering some time in the future.

On related Castlevania news, a beta disc of the cancelled Castlevania: Resurrection for the Dreamcast recently surfaced.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2021 Set for April 20, Here’s What You Need to Know

Bungie is bringing back the Guardian Games for 2021! The Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2021 start date is set for April 20, and as players can expect, there are rewards, prestige and more at stake. Check out the trailer and changes coming to this year’s event.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2021 Info:

How the scoring will work this year.
Medals have the following values:
  • Bronze: 1 Point
  • Silver: 2 Points
  • Gold: 5 Points
  • Platinum: 15 Points
We still have to account for different class population, so this year the class that comes in third place each day gets a permanent 10% bonus on scoring going forward.

NEW GUARDIAN GAMES PLAYLIST

Another new addition to this year’s event is the Guardian Games Strikes Playlist. This is like the standard Vanguard Strikes Playlist but will group players together by class. This feeds into the Laurel collecting mechanic where players have a chance at bonus Laurels when they pick up a Laurel generated by a player of the same class.

MODIFIERS

This new playlist will have gameplay modifiers added based on the previous day’s class standing. Classes will get a beneficial modifier tied to gold, silver, and bronze placement.
  • Gold: Health, shields, and recovery are increased. Kinetic weapons deal more damage.
  • Silver: Melee abilities recharge faster. Elemental damage increased from Guardian sources. More Heavy ammo available.
  • Bronze: Grenade abilities deal more damage and recharge much faster. Elemental damage increased from Guardian sources.
There are also negative modifiers added to the playlist to make things a little more challenging for the leaders. The gold class gets two modifiers, and the silver class gets one. These modifiers are themed around the classes that finished lower on the podium.
Bronze Silver
Titan
Combatant melee attacks deal more damage. Combatant melee attacks deal significantly more damage.
Warlock Incoming damage increased while airborne. Incoming damage significantly increased while airborne.
Hunter Radar is disabled. Radar is disabled and combatants don’t flinch when damaged.
Silver classes only get the modifier from the bronze class below them. Gold classes get a combination of both silver and bronze.
Thematically, we’re going for an experience where the Guardian Games Strike Playlist is the venue for players hoping to jockey their classes’ podium placement as it will likely be one of the most efficient ways to earn Laurels.

MEDAL CASE

You will receive a medal case from Eva to store your hardware until you are ready to visit the podium in the Tower to bank them for your team. Once you have the maximum medals for a certain type in your case, make sure you go turn them as any more earned for that type will be lost. Turning in medals will give you a chance at receiving an event package depending on the medal type.

CONTENDER CARD

This year we are introducing a new way to earn points for your team called Contender Cards. You will be able to pick these up from Eva in exchange for Laurels and can have one active at any given time. Completing objectives in strikes, Crucible, and Gambit will grant a Gold Medal upon completion.
There is also a special Platinum Contender Card that will focus on completing objectives in Nightfalls, Survival, and Trials. This will be the only way to earn Platinum Medals. Completing a Platinum Card will earn you All-Star status and a special reward at the next podium ceremony.
Make sure you complete your Platinum Contender Card before daily reset on Friday if you want to lock in your All-Star status for the weekend.

PODIUM CEREMONY

Every weekend there will be a special ceremony where you will be able show off a glow from your class item depending on your class’ standing that week.
  • Third place receives a bronze glow.
  • Second place receives a silver glow.
  • First place receives a gold glow.
  • All-Stars receive a platinum glow.

Curious what the rewards are? Head on below.

REWARDS

As with any event, there will be new loot to grab. At the start of the event, you will get is a new class item from Zavala – these are required to participate in the games. Your old class items won’t work for this event, even though they still look cool. Super cool.
There will be a new Exotic Sparrow you can earn during the event because every Guardian can use a new set of wheels… OK maybe not wheels since they hover, but you get the point. It’s a cool vehicle that you can drive… fly… drift? Yeah. You can definitely drift them.
Anyway, there will also be new emblems and shaders to collect and Heir Apparent is back for anyone who didn’t get it last year. Proud owners of the tanky Exotic Machine Gun now have a new catalyst to earn. If you want to roleplay as Valus Ta’arc, this catalyst will provide even beefier shields for you as you cabal-stomp your way through the battlefield.
There will also be new Eververse collectibles including, but not limited to, a new Universal Ornament armor set.  At Beyond Light’s release, we said we would be working to make future Universal Ornament sets more accepting of shaders. New tech allows us to achieve this change more easily and the GG sets are a great example.  Here is a peek at some of the offerings.
You can also earn the chance to nab some sweet Bungie merchandise based on your performance in the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2021. You can check that out right here.
We gather, there’s a title update accompanying the Guardian Games, and once it’s out, we’ll let our readers know.

Resident Evil Village Runs at 4K 60fps on PS5 & XSX, 45fps With Ray Tracing On

Next-gen consoles owners will be happy to know that Capcom is targeting 4K 60fps (frames-per-second) on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, though ray tracing will be at 45fps rather than 30fps like in most games.

In a new update to the official Resident Evil Village website, Capcom has listed a full (not including PC) breakdown of Resident Evil Village resolution and expected FPS.

Resident Evil Village Resolution and Expected FPS

PlayStation®5 4K HDR/60 fps
PlayStation®5
(when Ray Tracing is turned on)
4K HDR/45 fps
PlayStation®4 PRO 1080p/60 fps
PlayStation®4 PRO
(when set to high resolution)
4K HDR/30 fps
PlayStation®4 900p/45 fps
Xbox Series X 4K HDR/60 fps
Xbox Series X
(when Ray Tracing is turned on)
4K HDR/45 fps
Xbox Series S 1440p HDR/45 fps
Xbox Series S
(when Ray Tracing is turned on)
1440p HDR/30 fps
Xbox One X 1080p/60 fps
Xbox One X
(when set to high resolution)
4K HDR/30 fps
Xbox One 900p/30 fps
Stadia 1080p/60 fps or 4K/60 fps
Note: 4K is upscaled using dynamic resolution.

While  60fps does seem to be what most developers are going with as a standard with 4K resolution, the target framerate for ray tracing seems to be a rather odd one as Capcom is shooting for 45fps rather than 30fps. While no doubt games that support 4K ray tracing at 30fps could probably squeeze out more frames, the general thought is that sticking with 30 typically offers a smoother experience due to potential dips in say an uncapped option.

However, if Capcom can promise a locked 45fps at 4K with ray tracing, then the overall experience should be a smooth one. Still, we are a bit hesitant, especially since the wording does say “expected,” meaning it’s likely to change. I suppose we will know shortly as the first day of the demo will be available this Saturday.

Resident Evil Village 4th Trailer and Screenshots From RE Showcase Digital Event Released

It’s a great time to be a Resident Evil fan, as Capcom has graced gamers with brand new Resident Evil Village content — including a new 4th trailer and screenshots shared from the RE Showcase digital event released — giving us a better look at what to expect from the upcoming latest installment in the series.

Here’s the brand new trailer — which gives us a new glimpse at the enemies Ethan Winters will face in his journey and teasing more about the role Chris Redfield will play in the sequel.

Here’s the overview of the new trailer from Capcom.

The latest trailer for Resident Evil Village pulls fans deeper into the enigmatic locale with a peek at the diversity of environments and enemies players will encounter. New footage provided clues to an immense underground factory possibly mass producing humanoid creatures, and a vast man-made lake barely concealing what appears to be a colossal aquatic monster. The mysterious man from the January Resident Evil Showcase is revealed to be Heisenberg. Though his name is now known, his role remains unclear in protagonist Ethan Winters’ quest to find his daughter. Series veteran Chris Redfield also makes an appearance with questionable motives, creating more mystery as to what his role is.

Capcom has also released these awesome looking screenshots for the game, which you can take a look below.

In case you missed it from the RE Showcase, Resident Evil Village is also bringing back the Mercenaries — which you can read about here.

Resident Evil Infinite Darkness Launches On Netflix This July

After being teased and revealed first at last year’s Tokyo Game Show, Capcom has finally revealed that the new CG animated series Resident Evil Infinite Darkness launches on Netflix this July!

If you didn’t catch the Resident Evil Showcase digital event, here’s the new trailer!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp477ZhyrXg

Reuniting RE2 Remake voice actors Nick Apostolides as Leon S. Kennedy and Stephanie Panisello as Claire Redfield, the new Resident Evil web series is set a few years after the events of Resident Evil 4. Here’s the summary of the story from the official Resident Evil Portal website.

In 2006, there were traces of improper access to secret Presidential files found in the White House’s network. American federal agent Leon S. Kennedy is among the group invited to the White House to investigate this incident, but when the lights suddenly go out, Leon and the SWAT team are forced to take down a horde of mysterious zombies. Meanwhile, TerraSave staff member Claire Redfield encounters a mysterious image drawn by a youth in a country she visited, while providing support to refugees. Haunted by this drawing, which appears to be of a victim of viral infection, Claire starts her own investigation. The next morning, Claire visits the White House to request the construction of a welfare facility. There, she has a chance reunion with Leon and uses the opportunity to show him the boy’s drawing. Leon seems to realize some sort of connection between the zombie outbreak at the White House and the strange drawing, but he tells Claire that there is no relation and leaves. In time, these two zombie outbreaks in distant countries lead to events that shake the nation to its very core.

Resident Evil Village Mercenaries Mode Announced

Get ready to embark in a new survival horror adventure and play one of the most beloved extra modes the series has ever had, as Resident Evil Village has a Mercenaries mode announced — complete in first-person and featuring all the thrills and then some you’d expect from it!

Check out the reveal of the extra mode you can play besides your single player adventure!

As detailed in the Resident Evil Showcase digital event, the Mercenaries will have players facing down enemies in an arcade style gauntlet of challenges that will test their survival skills and inventory management to their limits. Players guide Ethan Winters as he battles through hordes of monsters and creatures, but he’ll also be able to gain skills and buy weapons off the Duke that will help even out the odds. In many ways, the first-person perspective looks very much like an arcade shooter as well as the Resident Evil Survivor games — albeit in a much better and polished capacity.

First debuting as an Extreme Battle mode in the original RE2 before gaining its proper namesake and introduction in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, the mode hit its stride when it was incorporated again in Resident Evil 4 — and since then has become a staple in the series. Some recent entries in the franchise, including the RE2 and RE3 Remake, have excluded  the Mercenaries mode to the disappointment of fans. But it looks like Capcom has listened to the cries and requests of the RE community 0– and now it’s back and looking much more intense than ever.

If you didn’t catch the news in the RE Showcase, Resident Evil Village will have a brand new demo out starting next week with early access to PlayStation owners — check the details here!

Resident Evil Village will be out for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC on May 7!

Resident Evil Village Gameplay Demo Release Dates Announced, Early Access for PlayStation

With Capcom holding a Resident Evil showcase today, it looks like some of the major details for it has surfaced already! Remember when we reported that Resident Evil Village gameplay demo was uploaded on the PlayStation Network’s backend? Yep, as expect, that has been announced in today’s stream!

During the showcase, it was revealed that the gameplay demo will be available on three different dates. The first two being what the team is calling “8 hours in Village” where there will be two 30 minutes demo exploring two different parts of the game. These will be exclusive to PlayStation gamers as a early access. The first demo will be dropping on April 17 and is dubbed “Village demo”.

The second demo is called “Castle Demo” and is coming April 24.

Both demos will feature roughly 30 minutes of playtime and will be available on each day for only 8 hours. The third demo, which is a time limited one of 60 minutes is releasing on May 1 on all (disregard image as PlayStation has marketing rights) platforms.

This demo will be available for a full 24 hours for all (PlayStation, PC, and Xbox) platforms. As a little bit of a surprise, PlayStation gamers will also be able to preload the demo starting today.

Not a bad way to get a taste of the game, no? And knowing how ingenious some people are, I suspect we should see more than what Capcom intended

How to Play as a Zombie in Warzone’s Latest Event Leading to Season 3

In case you missed the news earlier, Warzone Verdansk is seemingly being polluted with radiation, as areas of the map have now become dead zones to players. As it turns out, however, the radiation is doing more than just killing players as it is seemingly reanimating them into the living dead! Here’s how to play as a zombie in Warzone.

How to Play as a Zombie in Warzone

The process of playing as a zombie in Warzone is pretty easy, although it does require that you don’t play in a solo que. We aren’t sure why that is, but you will need to be either playing with some friends or a group of random in order for this to work.

So, once the game kicks off all you have to do is drop down into one of the points (currently either Shipwreck or the Prison) below.

As you get closer to it, you will begin to notice a red ring on the mini-map, indicating a gas zone.

Once you enter it, you will be inside the ring of radiation, which will slowly begin to kill you off. Wait until it does.

You will then respawn once again in the air, this time as a zombie!

You won’t be able to do any damage to any of you allies in this mode, but you can hunt down other players who will now show up on the mini-map.

What Abilities Do You Have as a Zombie?

Besides your vision being different and having melee as your main attack, you do get a few other perks of being a zombie. As stated before, you can see everyone on the mini-map as red-dots. Additionally, you also have three abilities which are; Charge jump, gas grenade, and EMP blast.

How Do You Return Back to Normal?

If you want to leave the zombie state, your teammates can buy you back into the game at a buy station.

That’s all there is to it, pretty easy right? Now go out there and start munching on the remaining survivors on Verdansk!

Call of Duty Warzone Verdansk Radiation Is Turning Players Into Zombies

It seems that the Season 2 closing event is starting to kick off in Call of Duty Warzone, as areas of the Verdansk map are becoming inaccessible due to radiation, with some reports of players being turned into zombies!

Check out footage of that below.

That’s definitely not your everyday gig at Warzone.

Speaking of Warzone, Raven Software has teased the upcoming 1980’s map today! You can read up on that here.

Warzone & Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Outro Teases Season 3 1980’s Verdansk Map

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 2 is about to come to a close next week, and with it, everything changes. Here’s our first real tease at Season’s 3 1980’s Verdansk map.

Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Outro Cinematic

Naga’s diversion worked as intended, throwing Woods and his squad off the scent long enough for Stitch to continue his master plan. Armed with fresh intel gathered from the cartel operation in Laos, they urgently deploy to Verdansk. Adler’s time is running out…

Judging from the video and description, it’s clear that Season 3 will see us in a 1980s’ themed version of the Verdansk map. It’s been previously rumored, and just a few days ago, teased that the Verdansk map would be getting “nuked” in order to make way for a new (or perhaps old?) version of it. This video seems to all but confirm that in the very least, we will be getting that 1980 themed version of the map, which will be overhauled visually to match the time period.

Guess we won’t know for sure until next week when season 2 is over, though one thing is certain, and that’s some type of in-game event happening April 21.
