PS5 Unboxing Now Live, Here’s How it’s Size Compares to Other Consoles

With the PS5 about to be released in about three weeks, Sony has sent out review console units to various content creators. Well, fortunately for us, embargo on some stuff has been lifted, and for today, it’s for PS5 unboxing!  We also have our first true look at how the console’s size compares to other consoles.

Check out the PS5 unboxing video(s) below, though don’t expect to see any games to be played today (embargo and all).

And a quick size comparison video

In addition to the console’s unboxing, we’re expecting more details and info to surface in the coming days and weeks!

The PS5 will be out this November 12 in select countries, and November 19 (hopefully) worldwide.

Fortnite Update 2.91 October 27 Released for Party Royale Fixes

Epic Games has sprung the Fortnite update 2.91 October 27 patch, and it’s out now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Android! As one might expect from an unannounced patch, this is primarily for fixes. Head on below for the official details.

Fortnite Update 2.91 October 27 Patch Notes:

Here’s the official patch notes for today’s small patch per Epic Games’ Fortnite Support account:

We’ve begun to deploy a maintenance patch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android. This patch addresses Party Royale issues, a stability issue on Nintendo Switch, and the Look stick/inventory slot + Look button size issues on Android.

As the Party Royale fixes are rolling out, Party Royale has been disabled temporarily. We’ll provide an update when it has been re-enabled.

Yep, that’s about it. On the official Fortnite Trello board, it does list the “Eliminations at Slurpy Swamps” bug but a workaround is listed too.

Battle Royale:

“Eliminations at Slurpy Swamp” not counting if you eliminate a survivor as a Shadow.

Description
The Week 9 “Eliminations at Slurpy Swamp” Challenge does not track progress if you eliminate a survivor as a Shadow.

Workaround
You can progress in the Challenge by either:

  • Eliminating a Shadow as a survivor. (Put the reawakened back in their place!)
  • Eliminating a survivor as a survivor.

As far as we’re aware, that’s the only top issue listed there that includes a fix, as some will be fixed in the next major patch. Same as always, if you spot any gameplay-related changes included in this patch, let us know down in the comments below.

Don’t forget to check out the Halloween festivities in the game here.

Final Fantasy XIV Update 8.54 October 27 Rolled Out

Square Enix has released the Final Fantasy XIV update 8.54 October 27 patch, and it’s a smaller one compared to previous updates. This is out on all platforms, and includes a few fixes for NPCs, monsters and more. Head on below for the official patch notes.

Final Fantasy XIV Update 8.54 October 27 Patch Notes:

■The following adjustments have been made to the Critical Engagements in Bozjan Southern Front.
・The recruitment time for Castrum Lacus Litore has been extended from 1 minute to 6 minutes.
・In Kill It with Fire, visual patterns have been added to the Dead Leaves’ damage area to improve color blind support.

■The following issues have been addressed.
・Under certain conditions, NPCs were not displayed in the cut scene for “Build on the Stone” in New Game+ mode.
・In Bozjan Southern Front, monsters that were moving back to their own territory after moving too far away would attack players while moving.
・In Bozjan Southern Front, some mechanics in the Critical Engagement “The Fires of War” were not functioning as intended.
・In rare cases, if you died while registering a lost action in Bozjan Southern Front, you would lose said action.
・The effect “Attributes and item level vary according to class/job and current level when equipped” on the Bozjan earring did not activate.
・The description for Bozjan earring was “Increases EXP earned by 30% when level 80 and below.”
* The correct description should have been “Increases EXP earned by 10% when level 80 and below.”. The effect “Increases EXP earned by 10% when level 80 and below” was activated in a HotFix performed on Oct. 15, 2020.

■In Bozjan Southern Front, countermeasures have been implemented for the following issue:
・ The monster Feathered Rainbow in the Skirmish “Waste the Rainbow” sometimes moved out of the battle area, making it impossible to complete.
* As this issue requires some time to address, we have implemented a temporary measure that reduces this occurrence.

Once we get a new update for the online RPG, we’ll let our readers know.

  • When swapping Player Items on the Squad Transfer Market screen after adjusting a bid on the radial menu, the option to make a Bid lost functionality.
  • After scoring a goal, the FUT Player Item that displays on the pitch was sometimes missing letters and/or numbers.
  • When a Player Item was selected on the Squad Screen, and the player tabbed over to the Club screen, using the Preview Selection resulted in the originally selected Player Item being deselected.
  • After completing a Squad Building Challenge with an Item reward in FUT, the player was not taken directly to the New Items screen.
  • The on screen elements that displayed following the completion of a Squad Building Challenge did not run at the correct speed.

  • Slowed down the Elastico Skill Move.

Battlefield 3 Was Released on Oct. 25 & Is Still the Best Battlefield Game of All-Time

While Battlefield 3 was released yesterday (October 25) and not today, we wanted to run this feature today on a Monday so more eyes can see it. Now that we have that out of the way, I’m here to talk about Battlefield 3, and why this game is the ultimate Battlefield game of all-time, and has yet to be surpassed.

Before anyone jumps in the comments and start throwing hate my way, please note that this is my opinion and mine only. This isn’t MP1st’s opinion, not the opinion of the entire staff, but just mine. You can disagree, of course, but I give a couple of reasons why BF3 is hands-down the best Battlefield game of all-time.

Maps

Battlefield 3’s map list is pretty much on another level. I mean, just look at some of the game’s maps: Caspian Border, Operation Metro, Seine Crossing, Grand Bazaar, Damavand Peak, Norshar Canals, and more! Not even counting the DLC maps, BF3’s maps were so varied that regardless if you’re a player that liked infantry on infantry action, or you preferred vehicular wafrare, the game has a map that will be perfect for you.

Maps weren’t too big that engagements took a long time, nor were they too cramped that it made everything a clusterfuck (Operation Metro notwithstanding).

Do you remember the first time you had to jump off a friggin’ mountain just to get to the next objective in Damavand Peak? Yeah, that was amazing, right? We never got that same feeling in other maps in succeeding Battlefield games.

Destruction

Sure, BF3 didn’t offer the same level of destruction as Battlefield: Bad Company 2, but it wasn’t bad, either. Remember using your soldier’s grenade launcher or RPG to topple debris in Grand Bazaar’s tight alleyways? What about blasting the structures wide open in Caspian Border to weed out camping enemies? While the maps didn’t offer flat-out destruction like in BC2, it did offer it enough that it felt engaging (and some might say necessary) to destroy structures in every area just to make sure no one was hiding in ’em.

Finding Balance

While some Battlefield players want infantry-only maps like Operation Metro, some players dig the infantry vs. vehicle gameplay that DICE does so well. In BF3, it felt balanced. I didn’t feel like I was getting pelted from tank cannon from across the map like in Battlefield V, or how easy it was for C4 spammers to throw C4 waaaay out (hello, BC2!) that made driving tanks a death sentence.

Sure, the game isn’t perfect, and jets are a bitch to take down, but overall, it’s easily one of the most balanced multiplayer shooters to ever grace the genre. I mean, there aren’t any Medic Trains like in BC2, and Recons aren’t overpowered in anyway, either. Each class in the game felt just right in terms of usefulness.

Miscellaneous

Aside from the stuff mentioned above, BF3 featured a solid campaign (that looked insanely good at the time), a banging soundtrack, customizable character skins (that made sense), the first introduction of the takedown executions for dog tags and more!

Possibly one of the most overlooked thing I liked about it? Perhaps the UI (user interface) and the actual HUD (heads-up display). I mean, take a look at the image above; doesn’t the killfeed look way better than what we got in subsequent titles? Some might call it too arcade-y, but for me? Yeah, I loved seeing points chaining and lighting up my screen.

Well, there you have it! These are some of the reasons why I consider Battlefield 3 to be the best Battlefield game of all-time. Do you agree? Disagree? If so, let me know in the comments below. Feel free to reach out to me on Twitter as well (@excaliburps) and let’s this Battlefield conversation going!

Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled Update 1.21 October 26 Skids Out

Beenox has released a rather hefty update to Crash Team Racing and it’s out now! The Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled update 1.21 October 26 patch is live on PS4, and it clocks in at a hefty 6GB!

Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled Update 1.21 October 26 Patch Notes:

Unfortunately, it seems Beenox is continuing its tradition of not disclosing the patch notes for smaller patches that don’t involve content drops. However, we do know that there is a new Witches Pit Stop Bundle now available in the game.

In addition to that, the Crash Team Racing community are looking into it as well. Having said that though, chances are, this is a next-gen (read: PS5) compatibility patch, and as such, shouldn’t really include any gameplay-related changes.

For reference, Sony first-party games like The Last of Us Remastered and God of War (2018) got patches recently, and were for PS5 compatibility. That said, The Last of Us Remastered patch did make loading times significantly better, so there is a chance we can see the same for Crash Team Racing’s latest patch.

Same as before, if you spot any gameplay-related changes, or if you notice any bugs that got squashed, let us know down in the comments below!

If you haven’t done so, make sure to check out Crash’s latest adventure — Crash Bandicoot 4 — and see why it’s worth a pick up.

Phil Spencer Wants to See More Single-Player Games From Xbox First-Party Studios

If there’s one thing Sony has an advantage over Microsoft in terms of games, it’s that Sony has arguably the best portfolio of franchises in gaming. While Microsoft has Gears of War, Forza, Halo and the like, it really can’t hold a candle against Sony’s first-party, single-player, narrative-driven franchises such as God of War, The Last of Us, Uncharted and the like.

It seems this notion isn’t lost on Xbox boss Phil Spencer. In an interview with GameReactor, Spencer admitted that he wants to see more single-player games from Microsoft’s first-party studios.

The same can be said for games with an inherent online focus, or even Live Service titles. Do you have a certain strategy as to how many projects at any given times are strictly single-player, or strictly multiplayer, or is it more fluid than that?

Phil Spencer: Yeah, it’s totally up to each studio, and I know some people that, when they’ve looked at the model around Game Pass, have assumed that Game Pass is actually a better model, if there’s more Games-as-a-Service games in the subscription. I actually argue the opposite and believe the opposite. The last thing I want in Game Pass is that there’s one game that everybody is playing forever, that’s not a gaming content subscription, that’s a one-game subscription, that’s WoW, right? So for us, having games in the subscription that have a beginning, middle, and end, and then they go on to play the next game, maybe those are single-player narrative-driven games, I just finished Tell Me Why, an amazing game from DontNod, those games can be really strong for us in the subscription. In many ways, they’re actually better than one or two games that are soaking up all the engagement in the subscription. I want a long tail of a lot of games that people are playing, and I think the diversity of online multiplayer versus single-player, we have to support the diversity there, and that’s my goal. If anything I’d like to see more single-player games from our first-party, just because that over time we’ve kind of grown organically to be more multiplayer-driven as an organisation.

You know what? I agree with Spencer. There’s no reason why Microsoft can’t cater to both multiplayer and single-player fanbases. Hopefully, Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda is a good start to seeing more first-party single-player games on Xbox.

In other Xbox news, make sure to check out Microsoft’s Xbox Series X walkthrough of the hardware, UI, dashboard and more!

PlanetSide 2 Update 2.20 October 26 Brings Different Changes to PC & PS4

Daybreak Games has released the PlanetSide 2 update 2.20 October 26 and on PS4 and PC! While The Shattered Warpgate has been out on PC for weeks now, PS4 PlanetSide 2 players are getting it today with the latest update! Read on below for the official details.

In addition to The Shattered Warpgate, there’s also the Halloween event coming to PS4 today called “Nanite of the Living Dead VII: The Seeds Must Flow.”

PlanetSide 2 Update 2.20 October 26 Patch Notes:

The only change going into the PC maintenance is that we’re extending the duration of Chapter 1 from our Shattered Warpgate campaign through Monday, November 9. There’s a bug blocking some players from completing the final chapter mission, along with a few other outstanding issues, and this change will ensure all players have ample time to complete the first Chapter. This won’t affect the start time of Chapter 2. PC downtime will be minimal – we’re estimating 1 hour, but as it’s just a world/zone bounce, we’re hoping to come in under that estimate.

Tomorrow’s PS4 update is MUCH more substantial – we’re bringing over The Shattered Warpgate update AND starting our Halloween Event, Nanite of the Living Dead VII: The Seeds Must Flow. The team has been working hard to substantially cut down on the time between when PC & PS4 receive major updates, and we’re thrilled to get this one out in the same month!

The Shattered Warpgate
After months of work, the time has finally come for this massive, multi-faceted update to make its way PlanetSide. With The Shattered Warpgate, we overhaul the icy continent of Esamir, introduce an entirely new Campaign and Mission system, revamp Outfit resource accumulation and War Asset costs, and refine many other aspects of the game as well.[IMG]

Esamir Upheaval
The continent of Esamir has gone through many changes since you last saw it. The Northeastern Warpgate has been destroyed, and in its wake are the time-frozen remains of an ancient Vanu structure, and a vortex of energy pouring into the sky.

  • New Skybox: Esamir has gotten colder with an overcast sky, the auroras have gotten brighter, and the sky shudders with cracks of lightning overhead.
  • Abandoned Bases: Due to hardline failures and defunct technology, many bases on Esamir have been abandoned for the snow to reclaim.
  • Disabled Vehicles: Disabled during the explosion, derelict vehicles can be found scattered throughout Esamir, and with the right tech, able to be reclaimed.
  • New and Modified Bases: After the collapse, empires scrambled to modify and construct new bases to accommodate the changed environment.
  • New Warpgate Location: Nanite Systems has unveiled new “Haven” technology that acts as a pseudo-Warpgate for the eastern portion of Esamir.
  • Revamped Lattice: The lattice has been reconfigured to conform to the new environment, and bases now tend to be fewer and farther between.
  • Environmental Hazard: An Electrical Storm roams the battlefield, calling down deadly lightning bolts and overloading vehicle systems.

Campaigns
With The Shattered Warpgate update, we introduce our first-ever “Campaign” to the game.
The story of The Shattered Warpgate centers around the detonation of a Warpgate in northeastern Esamir. Nanite Systems spearheads the investigation into the mysteries surrounding the event, and enlists the help of soldiers across all empires to help return stability to the land.

What’s a Campaign?

  • A Campaign is a multi-staged progression of the in-game world that takes place over several Chapters.
  • Participating in a Campaign will unlock lore-driven story missions that explore the evolving war on Auraxis, and the minds of those behind it.
  • Campaigns and their Chapters are specifically crafted to be completed without an extensive time commitment; and the events therein are meant to exist alongside the normal day-to-day gameplay of the world.

What’s a Chapter?

  • Chapters are time-locked segments of a Campaign, and cannot be repeated, or participated in if you miss out.
  • Each Chapter tells a separate portion of the overarching story, and the world continues to evolve with each Chapter.
  • There are multiple “Events” (similar to Missions) that must be completed before a Chapter is considered complete.

Campaign Rewards and Equipment

  • Campaigns and their Chapters each have rewards available on completion. A Chapter’s rewards are unlocked when all of the Chapter Events are completed, and a Campaign’s rewards are unlocked when each Chapter within the Campaign is completed.
  • Additionally, new equipment is available during a Campaign, some of which may be unlocked with Campaign Standing.
  • Campaign Standing is earned by participating in Chapter Events, as well as Campaign Side-missions (explained more in the Mission section.)

Unlocking the Campaign
The certification cost of a Campaigns scales with Battle Rank, and players with an active membership gain access automatically. When a Campaign is unlocked, it remains unlocked for all subsequent Chapters, and unlocking a Campaign with certifications must be done per character.

Certification Costs per Battle Rank:

  • BR 1-10 = 100 Certs
  • BR 11-20 = 250 Certs
  • BR 21-30 = 500 Certs
  • BR 31-40 = 750 Certs
  • BR 41-50 = 1250 Certs
  • BR 51-60 = 1500 Certs
  • BR 61-70 = 1750 Certs
  • BR 71-80 = 2000 Certs
  • BR 81-90 = 2250 Certs
  • BR 91-100 = 2500 Certs
  • BR 101+ = 2750 Certs (Includes players who have prestiged.)

We hope you’ll find The Shattered Warpgate a welcome change of pace that will cement elements of the existing lore while continuing to create new stories for all to enjoy.

New Mission System
Players now have access to an all-new Mission system that offers up daily missions players can complete for rewards.
What’s a mission?

  • A mission is a time-limited objective that a player can take on within the game world.
  • Missions can be accepted daily by visiting a Mission Board, or opening the UI window with the “i” key by default.
  • All players can accept up to 3 missions daily, and players with active memberships can accept up to 6 each day.

Contractors, Rewards, and Rarities
Each mission is dispensed from a “Contractor” that represents one of the factions in our world.
While all contractors have the ability to reward experience, boosts, and certifications, there are additional rewards offered based on the contractor.

  • Nanite Systems – Implants, ISO-4, and Nanite Systems weapons can be rewarded by completing Nanite Systems missions.
  • Black Market – Implants and A7 can be rewarded by completing Black Market missions.
  • Vanu Sovereignty, New Conglomerate, Terran Republic, and Nanite Systems Operatives – Merit and Empire Weapons (or NS for NSO,) can be rewarded by completing faction missions.

Missions come in a variety of rarities which represent difficulty, time investment, and intensity. The higher the rarity, the better the rewards for that mission type.
Training Missions

  • Players up to BR15 will receive “Training Missions” that help acclimate new players to various types of gameplay.
  • These missions also offer better-than-average rewards for the time investment.

Campaign Side-Missions

  • Players who are participating in the current Campaign will have access to various Campaign Side-Missions.
  • These side-missions reward Campaign Standing, in exchange for a certification buy-in.
  • Playing through the Campaign will also unlock new side-missions that have a chance to appear in your daily pool.

Indar Terrain Changes

  • The Crown has received changes to capture point placement, D point has been removed, and B point can now be reached from both the north, south, and eastern sides of the base through an underground combat area.
  • Ceres Hydroponics has received some adjustments to reduce prop density, and adjust sight lines, and the hill to TI Alloys has received some new paths around the eastern side.
  • TI Alloys has received reductions in its defensive capabilities, and the rock bridge connecting it to The Crown has been destroyed.

Sanctuary Changes

  • Players will now log into Sanctuary initially.
  • The visuals within and without Sanctuary has received much in the way of cleanup and improvement.
  • A new “Social” chat channel is available for all Sanctuary-goers, allowing cross-faction chat throughout the station.
  • Mission Boards are available within Sanctuary, that will take you to the Mission page on interacting with them. They’ve also been placed in each Warpgate.
  • A campaign rewards vendor can now be found in the Outfit Quartermaster shop.
  • Outfit Quartermaster/Outfit Recruiter have swapped places.
  • FL-34 and SPRK-33 in the Black Market shop have swapped places.
  • Speaking with FL-34 in Sanctuary will open the implant crafting menu for the player.

Implants

Firestorm

  • This implant has been added to the drop table.
  • Actual crafting cost has been instated at 3500.
  • Recoil and CoF bloom penalty from 200% to 100%
  • No longer uncaps horizontal recoil tolerance.

Mentor Chat

· Players who complete the Leadership tier 3 directive will now have access to Mentor Chat regardless of their current Mentor Rank.
· Players up to BR30 (and less than 100 directive score) now have access to /new chat, was previously until BR15.

· Typing “/leavechat mentor” or “/joinchat mentor” will allow those with privileges to leave and join at will.

War Asset Costs Overhaul
Changes to Map-based Resource Gain

  • Upon a successful capture, bases award their full resource value to any participating outfits above a contribution threshold of 1000 score.
  • Outfits who own a base continue to gain resource ticks over time once every 5 minutes, (no changes from Live.)
  • Sanctuary no longer offers resource trading.
  • Expeditions have been retooled to provide larger resource drops with a consistent conversion.
  • Assets can no longer be Overclocked at all. This is an experiment to see if the slowed pacing, coupled with the resource changes below, result in more diverse war asset usage.

War Assets now have resource type associations drawn more exclusively with their desirability.
Auraxium-based Assets

  • Light ANVIL
    • 5 Auraxium for 3 ANVILs
  • Medium ANVIL
    • 25 Auraxium
  • Heavy ANVIL
    • 50 Auraxium
  • Facility Modules
    • 10 Auraxium for 5 modules
    • Duration from 10 minutes to 20 minutes.
    • Weight from 5 to 0.

Synthium-based Assets

  • Citadel Shield
    • 25 Synthium
  • Steel Rain
    • 15 Synthium
    • Weight from 50 to 25
    • Crafting time from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.
  • Orbital Strike

Vehicles
Colossus

  • Deployment Shield damage has been reduced by 50% across the board.
  • The “War Horn” is now available for the Colossus in the Depot.

Dev Note: We’re increasing the survivability of the Colossus’ deployment shield significantly, though there will likely need to be additional tuning on a per-type basis following this change.

Liberator

  • Maximum health from 5000 to 4500.
  • Aircraft nosegun resistance (type 8) from 85 to 83.
  • A2A lockon resistance (type 45) from -100 to -75.

Dev Note: These changes allow ESF to more effectively engage Liberator crews, and the health reduction provides and all-around reduction in the staying power a Liberator can have over certain fights. A2A lock-on resistance changes are applied so that the shots to kill versus Tomcats does not see a shots-to-kill change from Live.

Nanite Costs

  • Harasser nanite cost from 150 to 300
  • Lightning nanite cost from 350 to 300

Dev Note: Overdue housekeeping change as Harasser/Lightning have been balanced along similar lines in recent years, and should result in slightly fewer Harassers on the field at any given time.

Aspis Anti-Air Phalanx Turret

  • Projectile lifespan from 1.2 seconds to 2 seconds.

Dev Note: This returns some of the range that was lost in a previous update, increasing the maximum projectile distance from 450 meters to 750 meters.

ESF

  • Wyrm minimum damage from 250 to 275.

Dev Note: These changes result in a slight boost to the effectiveness of this weapon at extreme distances.

Havoc Missiles (ESF)

  • New “Havoc Missiles” are now available from the Black Market weapon vendor in Sanctuary as an ESF secondary slot weapon.
  • These A2A lockons will fire a barrage of four missiles that, on impact, will prevent the target vehicle from being repaired for a short time.

Galaxy and Bastion

  • A2A lockon resistance (type 45) from -125 to -100.

Dev Note: For the Galaxy, this is a small change in the realm of being able to survive one extra Tomcat lockon missile, but with a typical repair convoy, this small change should pay dividends for overall survivability. For the Bastion, the goal is to to reduce some of the extreme value lockons currently have against the weakpoints, though these changes don’t dethrone the weapon by any means.

Infantry
MAX

  • Burster indirect (flak explosion) damage from 25 to 28.

Dev Note: Burster MAX should feel slightly less impotent now when dealing with aircraft.

Player Studio items

  • Old War Heavy Assault armor and helmet (Terran Republic,) by Doku
  • Armadillo Sunderer exterior, bumper, and tires (All Factions,) by Steveo
  • Challenger Vanguard exterior plating (New Conglomerate,) by Lobstrex
  • Response Infiltrator armor (NSO,) by binarycoder
  • Ravenshroud helmet (Terran Republic,) by CountPoly

Alert Rewards

Meltdown rewards now grant…

  • 300 ISO-4 for a win.
  • 150 ISO-4 for a loss.
  • 150 Certs for a win.
  • 75 Certs for a loss.
  • XP for a win remains 25,000.
  • XP for a loss remains 10,000.

Empire Strength

  • Full Empire Strength is now achieved at 44% through raw territory control, (down from 52%,) or 40% territory control if you also own the central base.
  • This should allow Meltdown alerts on all continents to trigger a bit more easily.

and if that wasn’t enough…

Nanite of the Living Dead VII: The Seeds Must Flow

Your march across the icy tundra slows as you attempt to take stock of your surroundings. The cold wind howls, wrapping itself around your insulated armor. Just beyond the edges of your periphery, the shadows seem to shift… you could swear you’re being followed. A reluctant glance cast over your shoulder reveals nothing; no combat or convoys, not even the glint of a patiently trained sniper scope. A chill runs down your spine and a feeling of unease washes over you. You shake it off. Turning back to continue your path, that’s when it strikes you; that familiar feeling of sheer, undeniable terror. You stand paralyzed as its gaze pierces through you; hollowed, orange eyes peering into your soul… the Space Pumpkins have returned.

From Oct. 26 – Nov. 15 a special Halloween event will be taking place in PlanetSide 2.

Space Pumpkins and the elusive Galact-O-Lanterns are spawning throughout Auraxis. Smashing these pumpkins grant experience and a handful of Infernal Grenades (detailed further down.)

Black Ops Cold War Launch Trailer Showcases the Campaign

Activision has released the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launch trailer and it hits hard! Prepare to see Frank Woods & Co. tear shit up and more! While we get snippets of multiplayer in the trailer, it mostly focuses on the campaign, which looks to be a solid affair.

Black Ops Cold War Launch Trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOxWQGkho4E&feature=youtu.be

Black Ops is back.

1981. The Cold War is at its peak. World powers grapple for control and a hidden threat looms. In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, players will engage in deniable operations, fighting the battles that never happened to stop a conspiracy decades in the making.

A mind-bending single-player Campaign awaits, with Black Ops protagonists Alex Mason, Frank Woods, and Jason Hudson teaming up with an all-new crew to track down a mysterious enemy known only as Perseus.

In the next generation of Black Ops Multiplayer, travel the globe from the deserts of Angola to the frigid Black Sea in a fully-connected, cross-play experience including 6v6, 12v12, and 40-player Fireteam battles.

And an all-new Zombies co-op experience awaits you and your squad in the debut of the Dark Aether story, “Die Maschine.” As you join forces with a CIA-backed international response team known as Requiem, the secrets of a horrifying WWII-era experiment will threaten the balance of the global order.

Black Ops Cold War will be available this November 13 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and will also be playable on next-gen platforms! Check out what we made of the multiplayer beta earlier this month here.

Top 7 Black Ops Cold War Beta Feedback Changes We Want to See

While we already posted the MP1st Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta review, we still have quite a lot t0 say regarding what we experienced during the two-week beta period. In this article, we talk about the top Black Ops Cold War beta feedback changes we want to see Treyarch implement at launch!

Note that this doesn’t include all the stuff that we think should be changed, but rather, the most important ones that should be prioritized.

Top 7 Black Ops Cold War Beta Feedback Changes We Want to See:

Black Ops Cold War Cheaters

Weapon Leveling

While Treyarch triggered double XP and double weapon XP during the beta, playing through the normal XP progression felt normal except for weapon leveling. Given how attachments played a huge role in how loadouts would set up, the slow weapon progression was highlighted in the beta.

This is a very easy fix, and if Treyarch doesn’t tweak it, isn’t really a dealbreaker. That said, I gather the community would appreciate if it was ramped up a bit at launch though.

Ping Indicators

In past Call of Duty games, players can see what kind of connection they had in a match and whether they were lagging or not. In Modern Warfare 2019, Infinity Ward tucked the ping indicators (on consoles at least) in the Options screen. Unfortunately, in the Black Ops Cold War beta, there’s no way to figure this out at all.

While we can see whether we’re experiencing extreme lag or packet bursts, we don’t know how good our connection is. Simply put: features we had in the early 2000’s shouldn’t be something taken out in a multiplayer game in 2020.

Black Ops Cold War Beta

Lobby Disbanding

In the alpha, players were happy to see that lobbies didn’t disband after every match. This meant that if you joined a game mid match, you can suck it up and just get some revenge in the next match. This builds rivalries and some trash talking in succeeding matches. However, though. for some reason or another, Treyarch chucked this in the beta and disbanded lobbies.

Same with weapon progression, this is an easy fix, but that doesn’t mean they will. We hope they do for the community’s sake.

NetCode

What made hiding the pings and connection more annoying is how the netcode was, well, super inconsistent. It made gunfights and matches feel great in one match, and super crappy the next due to the connection. Unfortunately though, the latest deep dive into the beta’s netcode did not bear good news.

Out of all the things in this list, this might be the most important thing that Treyarch checks and improves, since it affects the overall gameplay greatly.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies

Aim Assist

The Black Ops Cold War beta featured a rather weird (or messed up) aim assist. It either worked too well that your crosshair pointed to enemies that you couldn’t even so on your screen, and/or it also “fought” with the player. Me, personally, I’ve encountered multiple instances wherein the aim assist fought with my own aim, and the outcome was, I either got killed, or the aim assist “assisted” me so much that it couldn’t decide which enemy to aim at (if there was more than one near my crosshair).

Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer Trailer

Scorestreak System/Spam

Here’s a prime example of fixing something that wasn’t broken. Literally no one complained about Treyarch’s implementation of the scorestreak system in previous Call of Duty games, but here we are, and Treyarch changed it so that it prioritizes kills more than anything else. While I have no doubt Treyarch will continually tweak how the multipliers and scores are dished out, the simple fact is, the new scorestreak system encouraged people to hang back rather than attack objectives, which was the main point of using scorestreaks than kilstreaks.

Why attack objectives when you can just sit back and just farm for the kill score multiplier? It’s not like nabbing objectives will net you big scores either. Players camping and not doing anything other than farming kills can net a ton of points and sit atop the scoreboard, while people who attack objectives are at the middle since they most likely will die before reaching any of the big points multipliers.

In addition to the multipliers, the new streak system also does away with tension of any kind too. Now, in almost every match, it’s almost a certainty that you’ll get your streak rewards in one form or another since you don’t need to be in an active streak to get it. Just farm enough points and you’ll get your streaks — it takes away the game within a game in matches. Not only that, but be prepared for UAV spam (as seen in the beta), and with most gamers getting their streaks around the same time, you’ll have phases in matches where there’s a constant barrage of streaks from either team, and it’s just exhausting to deal with.

Will Treyarch change this? Probably not since this is one of their big new features i Black Ops Cold War. But that said, I hope they tweak it somewhat so that those who attack objectives are rewarded more than those just camping for kills.

Enemy Visibility

Just how bad is the enemy visibility in the Black Ops Cold War beta? Bad enough that it was the subject of an article from us (and even YouTubers, too). Simply put: you should NOT have any issues discerning enemies from the background if you’re playing in front of a 65-inch 4K TV (as I was).

It got so bad for me that I bumped my TV’s brightness up to max since I thought that was the issue (nope, didn’t help and just made things look washed out).

There’s no excuse when an enemy has their entire character on your screen and you STILL have problems seeing them (as in the screenshot above and it’s super zoomed in, even).

Well, there you have it! While the list above isn’t the complete list of changes we’d like to see implemented in the final game, these are the most pressing ones we’re concerned with. What’s your most pressing issue that needs to be fixed in the final game based from the beta? Let us know down in the comments below.

Check out the trailer and more details below straight from the press release.

In Candy War, players must collect candies left by their opponents once eliminated. But for the first time in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege history, players can respawn and seek revenge. The Sugar Fright event comes with its own Collection with 30 unique items, featuring exclusive customization for Zofia, Capitao, IQ, Nomad, Thermite, Castle, Ela, Frost, Goyo and Pulse. These puppet stylings are the same players can find in-game by picking these Operators to play the Candy War mode. Finally, each Operator’s exclusive, time-limited customization items are also available for purchase as Bundles in the Shop section for 1680 R6 Credits each.

As you can see from the official details, the new Candy War mode will allow players to respawn — which is a first for Rainbow Six Siege!
