Report: Battlefield 2018 to Let Players Go Prone on Their Backs, Feature Co-Op Mode, Campaign to Follow BF1 Template

Slowly but surely, more and more info regarding Battlefield 2018 seems to be seeping out. While we already know this year’s Battlefield game — which could allegedly be called Battlefield V — will feature loot boxes, more details have made their way online.

According to reports, Battlefield 2018 will follow Battlefield 1’s campaign in terms of episodic structure, and what’s more, there’s going to be a new co-op mode! This is supposedly a special mode that runs squads of players through “randomly generated Conquest missions,” but DICE can expand it to be even more robust. It’s not known whether it’ll support split-screen at this time, though DICE is aware that fans would like the feature (split-screen).

Interestingly, it’s also been said that players will now be able to go prone on their backs, too. For reference, this can be done in games like Rainbow Six Siege, but has never been implemented in a Battlefield game yet. This will supposedly give more movement options in competitive multiplayer, which is always a good thing, right?

Furthermore, DICE is said to be building its strategy for Battlefield V to be similar to BF1. The studio is said to be maintaining some sort of internal consistencies between the last Battlefield game and this year’s, and that consistency includes bringing back voice actress Katherine Kingsley who was the voice announce for BF1 multiplayer. Adding credence to the report is Kingsley herself, who posted an image on Instagram last January 22 with the hashtag #battlefield in it.

Back in the booth. I might not look very happy but in fact I am! So grateful for my voiceover jobs. Bring it on 2018. #battlefield #mother #gaming

A post shared by Katherine Kingsley (@katkingsley) on

Bear in mind, as with all other leaks, treat this one with a grain of salt, alright? Lots of things can change from now until October when the title ships, so don’t go pointing fingers if something doesn’t come to fruition.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more reputable Battlefield 2018 leaks. Once we do, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Patch Notes (1.27) for New Game Mode Released

Even if it’s a few years old, Treyarch is still hard at work on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and even managed to roll out a new game mode for it! You can check out the full Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 patch notes below, but the main addition here is the “Infected” game mode.

Clocking in at 2.16GB for the PlayStation 4 version, the patch notes for both consoles can be seen below (via Activision Support).

GLOBAL

General

  • General performance updates.

MULTIPLAYER

Infected (New Game Mode)

  • At the start of a match, one player is randomly chosen as the first infected whose goal is to infect the other players. Once downed, players respawn as infected, slowly increasing the size of the horde. Infect all players, or survive until time runs out to win.

Redwood Snow (New Map)

  • Enter the snowcapped landscape of Redwood Snow to experience something colder from the map you know and love.

That’s might fine of Treyarch to be doing this, no? Of course, the studio does have a game coming out later this year, so pushing out an update to remind people that they’re up to bat isn’t a bad marketing/PR move either.

Recent reports have surfaced that this year’s Call of Duty game is Black Ops 4, and that it’ll be back to boots-on-the-ground (woohoo!).

Report: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Merchandise Appears on GameStop Database, Mentions Storage Boxes & Poster

Just last month, a reputable leaker of video game info let it slip that this year’s Call of Duty game being developed by Treyarch is none other than Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It’ll allegedly be set in modern times, have a boots-on-the-ground setting, and will even be making its way onto the Nintendo Switch.

Now, it seems more evidence has surfaced that Call of Duty 2018 is indeed Black Ops 4! An anonymous tipster has sent images of the internal GameStop database where new listings for Black Ops 4 merchandise have popped up! There are t-shirts, lanyards and more — all with prices, even. Check out the screenshots below.

Also important to note: in the second image, it mentions “storage boxes” which could mean loot boxes, and with a price of $0.00, could very well mean it’s part of a pre-order bonus of some sort. Ditto with the”premium, poster” listing as well. If this is the case, it shouldn’t be that surprising since past Call of Duty titles have gone that route to entice players to fork over their cash earlier than the franchise’s November release date.

Treat this with a grain of salt for now, people. Although, having said that, it does look legit. We’ve reached out to Activision and will update the post if and when we get a reply.

In related news, Treyarch has mentioned that the studio is making the “best work of their lives,” which is good news for Call of Duty fans.

If you know more about this year’s Call of Duty, you can reach out to us via email, Twitter or Facebook.

BioWare: Anthem Progression System Currently a Mix of Different Styles

While BioWare might have possibly hinted at Anthem’s inventory system before, the studio has now talked about the progression system the game is currently using while in development. Over on Reddit, BioWare developer Brenon Holmes talked a bit about the differences between a “static” progression system, compared to one that slowly adds abilities over time.

One advantage to having a more static model is that it’s a lot easier to entice players into different styles of gameplay. You find something new, it’s more powerful than what you have… you’re likely to give it a go!

Alternatively, with things that grow in power over time/usage… you tend to get a lot more attached to the items you have. They start to form part of the identity of your character.

A lot of it depends on what the progression goals are with a given system. Currently we’re doing both styles (for different areas of progression).

Obviously, nothing is set in stone just yet given Anthem is still in active development, but a mix of progression systems would be an intriguing prospect, and possibly differentiate it from its ilk.

Anthem’s release date has been pushed back to “early 2019,” but it will be present at this year’s EA Play, so prepare for more footage in a few months.

Flippin’ Sexy Fortnite Emote Drives Players Wild

A new Fortnite emote is now available to purchase from the in-game store… But it isn’t just any emote. No, it’s the Flippin’ Sexy Fortnite emote!

When bought for 500 V-Bucks, the Flippin’ Sexy Fortnite emote allows players to do a somersault and land in a stylish way. It’s so cool that it’s driving players wild, with some creating videos based solely around this one new emote.

Here’s a video showcasing the Flippin’ Sexy Fortnite emote: (Yes, it’s an hour long. I don’t know.)

I wouldn’t recommend wasting V-Bucks on something like this, unless you really want it. I mean, it does look good, and would be a great way to taunt the enemy.

Let me know what you think of the Flippin’ Sexy Fortnite emote in the comments below. Is it worthy of the attention it’s getting? Or do people need to chill out?

In other Fortnite news, the double pump strategy has returned, Josh Hart got some custom Fortnite shoes, and this custom hoverboard track looks incredible.

Monster Hunter World Sales Numbers Now at Over 7.5 Million, Is the Best-Selling Title in Capcom History

We’ve already reported numerous times just how successful Monster Hunter World has been for Capcom’s bottom line, but I doubt anyone could have predicted this. Capcom has now announced that the Monster Hunter World sales numbers are now at over 7.5 million units shipped (including digital sales), and counting!

In addition to that impressive number, Capcom has also mentioned that Monster Hunter World is now the best-selling title in company history! Besting entries from notable games such as Resident Evil, Street Fighter and more.

The Monster Hunter series consists of hunting action games that pit players against giant monsters in a beautiful natural environment. The series has sparked a social phenomenon known as the “Monster Hunter Craze” by introducing a new kind of communication style for players through cooperative play focused on hunting monsters with their friends. Since the first Monster Hunter title made its debut 14 years ago in 2004, the series has attracted a dedicated fan base, and overall grown into a mega-hit with cumulative sales of more than 48 million units worldwide as of March 5, 2018.

Monster Hunter: World is the latest entry in the series, and the first new Monster Hunter title for home consoles in nine years. It is also the first title in the series to be given a global simultaneous launch, and was given an ambitious worldwide promotional campaign in order to further build upon its fan base both in Japan and in markets overseas. As a result, Monster Hunter: World has overcome both linguistic and cultural barriers to delight approximately 7 million players worldwide, and has shipped 7.5 million units, making it the best-selling title in company history.

New Twitch ToS Changes Go Into Effect on March 5

Beginning March 5, new Twitch ToS changes will go into effect. The two biggest changes are to do with dresscode and community management.

New Twitch ToS Changes: Dresscode

Twitch will be cracking down on users who wear inappropriate clothing.

What clothing is appropriate for my stream?

Given the variety of content and activities creators engage in, an explicit dress code would be unreasonably restrictive. Streaming is a public activity that reaches a global audience of many ages and cultures, and as such we prohibit nudity and sexual conduct. When evaluating reports for sexual conduct, attire is just one factor we will use in making a determination on whether conduct is acceptable.

We recommend creators wear attire that would be publicly appropriate for the context, location, and activity they are broadcasting. For example, workout clothes would be appropriate for a fitness stream and a swimsuit would be appropriate for a stream from a public beach.

New Twitch ToS Changes: Community Management

Streamers will be required to put more effort into moderating their community.

What should I do about viewers exploiting elements of my stream like text-to-speech to harass, be hateful, or post sexual content?

As a streamer, you are responsible for the content on your stream. Twitch asks you to make a good faith effort to moderate interactive elements of your stream such as setting a word filter or a notification delay to give yourself a chance to moderate incoming notifications. Ultimately, you will have to decide what steps are right for your stream and your community’s behavior in order to abide by the Community Guidelines. Remember to temporarily disable or mute any unmoderated interactive elements such as text-to-speech if you step away from your computer.

Fully Working DIY Nintendo Switch XL Looks Awesome

The Nintendo Switch is great at being both a home and portable console. However, when undocked and taken on-the-go, the Switch loses a few key features, and players are forced to  game on the small screen.

In an attempt to merge the two modes, by combining docked functionality with a larger screen in a still-portable device, YouTube userz My Mate VINCE has created the “DIY Nintendo Switch XL.”

Take a look at how he’s created this beast, and watch him play some games, by clicking “Play” on the video below.

Hi, this video shows a homemade Nintendo Switch XL. So basically it is using a small TV but the whole thing is portable (run from batteries). This will allow you to play in handheld and table top mode in 1080p and have a larger screen.

The set up in the video is just a proof of concept but if you were willing to spend £350 then you can get beautiful 1080p Monitors with sound and powered by 5V USB. If you used one large capacity power bank with a dual outlet then you could power the screen and the Switch from the one power bank which would save a lot of room and weight.

Let me know in the comments below if you think the idea is ridiculous or whether you like it.

If the video and comments prove popular then I will invest the money in the decent set up which will look much better and thinner and be more portable with a kickstand with different levels.

Just to save any confusion the TV panel in the video is 720P (HD Ready) but using this method will output 1080P on a 1080P panel. Whenever you dock the Nintendo Switch it outputs up to 1080P while normally handheld is only 720P.

What do you make of this DIY Nintendo Switch XL? Let us know in the comments.

In other Nintendo Switch news, Pokémon for the Switch is in the localization stage, the paid online is scheduled to launch in September, and a Mario movie is being made in partnership with Illumination.

This Might Be One of the Funniest and Weirdest Battlefield 1 Bugs You’ll Ever See, Might Be NSFW

Battlefield 1 funny and weird .gif is just something

Regardless how long in development a game has been or no matter how many patches it’s gotten post-launch, there’s always a bug or two that escapes the QA people — especially for something as volatile as a multiplayer game.

DICE’s Battlefield franchise has always been known to have  a bug or two at launch, and even after a new patch has been released. Well, Battlefield 1 is no different. While I’m certain there’s a a lot of Battlefield 1 bugs captured on video, you might not have seen anything like this — I know I haven’t. Warning though, the super short snippet below might be considered NSFW (Not Safe for Work) for some.

Uhm… Maybe get a room next time?
byu/A_Yiffy_Panda inbattlefield_one

I honestly haven’t seen anything as weird as this in all my time playing Battlefield 1. But then again, that might be a good thing, right?

Do you want to see more funny .gifs and clips of games here on MP1st? If so, share your thoughts about it in the comments! Or better yet, if you want to submit something, hit us up via email (tips@mp1st.com), and if we like it enough, we’ll post it on the site (with full credits to the sender, of course).

In other Battlefield news, this year’s Battlefield game will allegedly be called Battlefield V, and will feature loot boxes.

Updated Rainbow Six Siege Ban System Targets Hate Speech Users

In an attempt to crack down on toxic players, Ubisoft will be updating the Rainbow Six Siege ban system to target those using racial and homophobic slurs, or hate speech. Starting next week, hate speech users will begin to be issued bans.

Rainbow Six Siege Community Manage Craig Robinson posted details about the upcoming system changes on Reddit:

Starting next week, we will be implementing an improvement on the system we have been using to ban players that use racial and homophobic slurs, or hate speech, in game. The bans for this will fall within the following durations, depending on severity:

  • 2 Days
  • 7 Days
  • 15 Days
  • Permanent

We will be tracking the frequency at which language that violates the Code of Conduct is used by individual players, and will apply the appropriate ban on a case-by-case basis.

The type of language we will be taking action against is outlined in the following section of the Code of Conduct:

“Any language or content deemed illegal, dangerous, threatening, abusive, obscene, vulgar, defamatory, hateful, racist, sexist, ethically offensive or constituting harassment is forbidden.”

Players that receive a ban for toxicity will receive a pop-up that states their ban was the result of toxic behavior. A global message will also be displayed, similar to the current global broadcasts for cheating. It will read:

“Username has been banned for toxicity.”

This is our first step towards managing toxicity in Rainbow Six Siege, and we will have more information to share about our other plans at a later date.

Call of Duty: WWII Domination XL Coming End of March, Update on Paint Jobs and More

For this week’s Call of Duty: WWII community update, Sledgehammer Games talks about the “Community Choice” playlist that got rolled out yesterday, when we’ll see the promised Domination XL playlist go live and more!

Sledgehammer has confirmed that the long awaited Domination XL (100 points per kill) playlist will come “at the end of March” after a “special upcoming holiday event” that the studio will talk more about soon.

Check out the full update straight from Sledgehammer Games below.

Leaderboards not updating. As some of you have already noticed, we recently pushed through a fix for leaderboards not updating. We are continuing to monitor and work on this and will push through additional fixes as needed. Thank you, everyone, for your patience on this.

Community Choice Playlist. Thank you, everyone, for voting on your top map-mode combinations! As of 10AM PT, this playlist is now live in the Featured tab and titled: Community Choice (English) and Mosh Pit (non-English languages). Enjoy until Monday, March 5th at 10AM PT.

DOM XL: We’re rolling out DOM XL at the end of March after a special upcoming holiday event that we’ll share more about soon. For now, enjoy the Community Choice playlist, and thanks again for voting on your favorite map-mode combos!

Heroic Weapon Bribe: This has been removed and we’re working to address issues with the bribe through our Player Support channels. If you’ve been affected by this, please reach out to player support on Twitter @ATVIAssist and Reddit u/ATVIAssist.

Hardcore Team Killing/Ricochet. Hey HC fans, this one’s for you! We’ve made various changes to our TK rules over the past few months. After hearing more feedback from you, we’ve decided to run a separate HC playlist with ricochet so that when you shoot a teammate, you take damage instead of them. This will be coming next weekend, starting Friday, March 9th.

Paint Shop. Ok, we got ahead of ourselves here. This is a feature that we know the community wants, and we are committed to delivering. We’re actively testing it within the studio. The testing has taken longer than we initially anticipated. We shouldn’t have mentioned timing before we were ready, and we sincerely apologize for that mistake. With that lesson in mind, we won’t set a new date until our testing has concluded. Our goal is to wrap this work up very soon, and once we do, we’ll provide an update with more concrete timing.

Additionally, Sledgehammer has mentioned that new and “exciting” weapons will be added, and a “massive” update that’s due in a few weeks will include some of the new stuff! Here’s a preview of one of the new weapons, and even a look at some of the paints players can do in the paint shop once it’s live.

Check out the full community update post here, to see what’s new for Nazi Zombies, and a bunch of user submitted stuff as well.

This is definitely good news, right? Once Domination XL is rolled out, I might just jump back in again just to test if it’s really better when it’s back to normal (scoring and all). As for the paint shop, well, at least we know it’s progressing, and it’s just a matter of time before it’s finally rolled out.

Far Cry 5 Microtransactions Confirmed but No Loot Boxes

PC Gamer has confirmed that, during a Far Cry 5 preview event, a Ubisoft representative informed them that the game would not feature loot boxes, or any type of premium purchases involving chance/gambling. However, there will be Far Cry 5 microtransactions, in the form of cosmetic items and “time savers.”

While the Far Cry 5 microtransactions store wasn’t available to explore during the preview event, it was still possible to find premium currency hidden throughout the world, which is Silver Bars.

Far Cry 5 Microtransactions: Far Cry 5 Silver Bars

Far Cry 5 Silver Bars can be used to purchase prestige weapons, vehicles, clothes, and skins. They’re also purchasable through the “STORE” option in the menu.

Here’s the full in-game description:
