Meet Battleborn’s Next DLC Character, Pendles

Following closely behind the release of Battleborn’s last DLC character release, Gearbox Software has announced the next hero that will be coming to the shooter in the near future.

Not much is known about this anthropomorphized reptile, aside from its assassin-like characteristics and its ability to sneak around with dual kama’s and apply poison to unsuspecting foes. We also know it belongs to the Rogue faction.

Here’s a first look:

PENDLESconcept

Meanwhile, the studio also released a skill trailer for their latest character, Alani, who — I might add — is a lot of fun and is very reminiscent of Smite’s Poseidon and He-bo characters. She’s worth grinding for the credits if you didn’t purchase the season pass. Anyways, check out the video here:

[youtube id=”TPniKhalBXo”]

Like Alani, Pendles will cost 47,500 in-game credits to unlock. More details are on the way.

Battleborn is available now for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Battleborn’s First DLC Hero Arrives Next Week, Double XP This Weekend

Only a few weeks after Battleborn’s launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Gearbox Software is getting ready to add to their already massive roster of 25 playable heroes this upcoming Tuesday.

The company recently announced that the first of five DLC heroes, Alani, is set to launch this upcoming Tuesday for those who have purchased the Digital Deluxe version of the game or are Season Pass owners. In addition, those on PlayStation 4 that participated in the Battleborn Open Beta will also receive Alani for free as a “thank you” for helping out with the beta.

Everyone else can still play as Alani for free on May 31, that is if you happen to amass 47,000 in-game credits to purchase her directly.

The studio also revealed that, starting today, matchmaking for Advanced Story Mode will finally be an option, making the grind to those 47,000 credits much easier.

Lastly, Gearbox is providing a bigger incentive for the community to play Battleborn starting this Friday as Double XP for both Command Rank and Character Rank is set to go live at 11am EST. This first Double XP event will conclude on May 25 at 11am EST.

Battlefield 4’s Final Stand DLC Is Free This Week

Via EA’s continuing “Road to Battlefield 1” campaign, a series of events and promotions leading up to the launch of DICE’s new World War I shooter, the company is now offering Battlefield 4’s Final Stand DLC for free.

It’s available now on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The only catch is that you’ll need to download it before May 24 in order to take advantage of the promotion. You can hit up these download links to get rolling:

Final Stand was Battlefield 4’s last paid content pack, developed by guys and gals at DICE LA. It pushed the game’s military setting a little further into the future, introducing prototype weaponry like the rail gun and letting players take control of the state-of-the-art hover tank.

Battlefield 4: Dragon’s Teeth DLC and Battlefield Hardline: Robbery DLC were offered for free earlier this month in a similar fashion.

DICE and EA unveiled Battlefield 1 a few weeks ago, a surprising new twist on the shooter that will take the series all the way back to the First World War when it launches on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 this October 21.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Is Now Backwards Compatible On Xbox One

Treyarch’s first Call of Duty title in the popular Black Ops series is now playable on Xbox One via the console’s backwards compatibility program.

Xbox’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb confirmed the news this morning:

The original game was released on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 in 2010 as a follow up to Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at War. Chronologically, it launched the year after Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, kicking off a brand new sub-series set in the Cold War. Its sequels would bring the series to a futuristic time period and introduce new movement mechanics while continuing with the popular Zombies co-op mode.

If you don’t already own the original, you’ll find Call of Duty: Black Ops for Xbox One on the Xbox store.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI builds on the firm foundation of the Civilization franchise, and we’ve added many exciting new elements,” said Ed Beach, lead designer at Firaxis Games. “The visual presentation of the game is inspired by the maps and tools of the Age of Exploration, and we’ve made several key gameplay changes such as expansive cities and active research that makes Sid Meier’s Civilization VI an entirely unique experience while remaining true to what makes the Civilization series so special.

Star Wars Battlefront Sequel Confirmed For 2017

Star Wars Battlefront is getting a sequel next year, EA confirmed during a recent earnings call.

“We’ll most likely have one Star Wars title a year for the next three to four years,” said said EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen during the call. Battlefront 2, which hasn’t been confirmed as its official name just yet, will feature “bigger and better worlds” while the studio developing it will stay open to drawing from the new movies, rather than the historical ones.

Over 14 million copies of the original, which launched last November for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, have shipped to-date. The game is currently two updates into its downloadable content season.

A Star Wars game from Visceral and Motive is expected to launch “most likely the following year,” putting it in a 2018 launch window.

More recently, Respawn Entertainment announced that it is working on a “third-person action/adventure game set in the Star Wars universe” in partnership with EA.

All players can then unlock the Operators with Renown or R6 Credits after the exclusive period ends.”

New Map – “Team Rainbow has been called in to assist the local law enforcement and regain control of the border. Two Navy SEALs stationed in the area have been enlisted to provide their expertise of the region to Team Rainbow. A mix of old and new buildings with open air pathways make this the most destructible and open planned map to date.”

New Weapon Skins – “With Operation Dust Line, get the USA desert Camo, the Dust Line signature skin, the Navy SEAL skin and more.”

New Headgear – “Swap out your operator’s headgear from basic camo upgrades to high quality traditional military and fantasy gear. Unlock new gear using Renown, R6 Credits, or a combination of the two.”

Titanfall 2 Marked For a Fall 2016 Release

First-person shooter fans are in for double the action this Fall as far as video game publisher Electronic Arts is concerned.

During a recent earnings call, the company announced that Titanfall 2, Respawn Entertainment’s second major project that was announced for the first time earlier last month, will launch in the final quarter of this year.

As many Battlefield fans will know, that puts it in the same launch window as DICE’s recently-revealed project, Battlefield 1, scheduled to launch on October 21. With the addition of Activision’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered launch on November 4, it’s going to make for a pretty congested season of first-person shooter releases.

When asked for thoughts on the decision to launch Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 so close together, EA CEO Andrew Wilson had this to say:

“This is a giant category in our industry–[a] $4.5 billion category,” he explained. “There’s a very broad and diverse set of players who play games in that category who are looking to fulfill different gameplay motivations. Some people play very quick-play, or something with more strategic play; some people want both in different contexts.

“The result of that is that we feel we actually have a really strong position to deliver the broadest set of gameplay mechanics as it relates to [the] first-person shooter genre across the two titles and feel very confident that we are well-positioned to do very well in that category in the year. Certainly you see the reception around Battlefield 1; we feel very good about that. The energy around Titanfall 2 is also building very nicely. We look forward to showing you more of both of those titles at EA Play in June.”

Mark your calendars for EA’s press conference on June 12.

Thanks, GameSpot

Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Dust Line DLC Live Stream Reveal

On May 11, Ubisoft will drop the second major downloadable content launch for their team-based, tactical first-person shooter, Rainbow Six Siege.

Fans were introduced to a new map called Frontier and two new operators named Valkyrie and Blackbeard earlier last week via a short teaser trailer. Today, the studio took to twitch to live stream a more revealing look at the new content with the help of a number of pro players, YouTubers, and a few of the devs. The full stream replay is above, so give it a watch to see what’s new.

Like Siege’s Black Ice DLC, the new map will enter playlist rotations free or charge for all players. Season Pass holders can either spend Renown or R6 Points to unlock the new Operators on May 11 when Operation Dust Line officially launches. Both will be available to purchase with either currency for all players on May 18.

A new game balance update is also happening on May 11 that will include some major changes to a few of the less popular operators like IQ, Montagne, and Tachanka, along with a number of other improvements. Full patch notes will be available on May 9.

Latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Update Offers New Weapon Micro-DLC, Famas Assault Rifle Returns

Surprised Call of Duty Season Pass owners logged in to find an unexpected in-game gift following a new Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 content update earlier today.

The update, in addition to plenty of fixes and improvements, rewards Season Pass holders with the following Black Market and Dr. Monty’s bonus items:

  • 1 Weapon Bribe – A Supply Drop that guarantees a ranged or melee weapon
  • Supply Drop Bundle – 10 Rare Supply Drops
  • Liquid Divinium – 10 Vials of Liquid Divinium

As described by Activision, “Weapon Bribes are a special kind of Supply Drop that include three items, one of which is guaranteed to be a ranged or melee weapon for use in multiplayer.” In addition, Black Market Special Contracts are a one-time unlock available to anyone that wins 75 matches from today onward. They award players with a Weapon Bribe and ten Rare Supply Drops. “Coming soon, players will be able to complete other challenges in the form of Daily and Weekly Black Market Contracts for in-game rewards – stay tuned for more in the coming weeks,” Activision wrote. “Best of all, Black Market Contracts are independent of the Season Pass Bonus, giving Season Pass holders a chance to effectively double their number of Weapon Bribes and Rare Supply Drops.”

You’ll find the full patch notes for the latest update below, but what Treyarch didn’t show fans was the number of new ranged and melee weapons that were quietly added to Supply Drops. Some of the new ones spotted so far include the Slash N’ Burn axe, the L4 Siege launcher, the Skull Splitter mace, and the FFAR assault rifle which is based on the fan-favorite Black Ops weapon, the Famas.

The update also drops hand-in-hand with the launch of a Double Cryptokey Weekend, so now would be a good time to try to snag some of the new goods. Here are the multiplayer patch notes for PlayStation 4:

Leak – Battlefield 1 Set During The First World War, Launches October 18 [Updated]

EA’s new Battlefield game is reportedly called “Battlefield 1” and is set during the First World War.

Unnamed retailers have leaked what looks like the official poster for the game, which sports the same key art that was leaked (or teased?) on Xbox One’s market place earlier this morning.

Another shot reveals the “Hellfighter” DLC pack — likely a pre-order incentive of sorts based on WWI’s Harlem Hellfighters — and that the game will launch on October 18, 2016.

While the soldier on display does appear to be wearing proper WWI attire, it looks a little more stylized than usual. Reports suggest it could also be set in an alternate-history WWI.

EA’s official reveal is set to take place later this afternoon.

UPDATE: Edited article to more accurately describe the game’s possible setting.

EA Just Dropped The First Teaser Clip For ‘Battlefield 5’ & It Looks A Little WW2-Ish

Check it out. EA just dropped the first teaser video for the upcoming world premier of their next Battlefield game, taking place tomorrow, May 6, at 1PM PST / 4PM EST / 9PM BST.

It’s a short, 9-second clip, but there’s something about the soldier and what he’s wearing that kind of gives off a World War II vibe. We’re thinking the developers behind this currently untitled Battlefield game have heard fans loud and clear and know that they want a proper WWII shooter on current-generation hardware. Sure would be sweet! We could be way off, but either way, we’ll find out tomorrow.

Check it out and tell us what you think.

Yesterday, we learned that EA is giving away Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline DLC for free in the months leading up to the launch of ‘Battlefield 5.’

Titanfall Developer Announces A Third-Person Action/Adventure Star Wars Game

Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment announced today its partnership with Electronic Arts and Lucas Film to deliver a third-person action/adventure game set in the Star Wars universe.

The development house joins DICE, Visceral Games, and BioWare in a family of EA studios working on a series of official Star Wars titles in partnership with Lucas Film. Ex-God of War 3 director Stig Asmussen, who is now leading the development team at Respawn on their currently untitled Star Wars game, wrote an open letter to fans on the official Respawn blog.

“I am happy to announce our partnership with Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm to deliver a whole new adventure to the galaxy,” he said.

“I have been playing Star Wars games my whole life, now I get to make a Star Wars game. On top of that, I get to do it at Respawn, a studio comprised of the most talented collection of game makers, creators, visionaries, and (most importantly) advocates for the player, that I have had the good fortune to work with. And we, like you all, have no shortage of Star Wars passion.”

“Moving forward, we couldn’t ask for a better universe in which to continue this journey, and although I would love to share all of the exciting places we are going, we have the following piece of information to divulge with you all today: We’ll be making a third-person action/adventure game set in the Star Wars universe.”

Things are still in the very early stages — the studio says it’s still hiring in all departments — so details are scarce. However, there’s a chance we’ll learn a little bit more during EA’s “EA Play” Press Conference on June 12 where Respawn also plans to lift the curtain on its upcoming shooter sequel, Titanfall 2.

EA Gifts Battlefield 4 & Battlefield Hardline DLC To Fans, New Community Events Planned

Aside from the upcoming reveal of EA’s next big Battlefield game, the company is giving fans another reason to get excited about the series over the coming months.

EA, DICE, and Visceral Games have announced that they will be giving away previously released Battlefield Hardline and Battlefield 4 DLC to owners of those respective games on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC throughout the rest of the year. There’ll also be a number of special events to look out for as the launch of EA’s next, unannounced Battlefield game approaches.

Here’s a blurb from the most recent Battlefield website update:

A new Battlefield™ is coming later this year, and we’re celebrating by keeping the action going in Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline. Over the next few months we’ll be giving away previously released expansion packs for both games to anyone playing on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Origin for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. There are also new Community Missions and a whole lot more to get excited about. Let’s take a look at what’s going on right now.

From May 3 to May 10, you can get Battlefield 4 Dragon’s Teeth for free. Engage in intense urban battles across four dense Asian Pacific maps in this infantry-focused expansion.

Meanwhile…

From May 3 to May 10, you can get Battlefield Hardline: Robbery for free. It’s all about the Big Score: how to steal it, or how to stop it. Robbery’s maps and game mode are designed to let criminal teams plan and execute the perfect heist; or, for law enforcement, to get the crooks in cuffs before they can pull it off.

So, if you don’t have either, be sure to snag them both in the next couple of days, before May 10. Each come with four new multiplayer maps and an assortment of new weapons and gadgets. Stay tuned for details on when additional DLC goes free.

EA is set to drop the first details on the company’s next Battlefield title on Friday, May 6, at 1PM PST / 4PM EST / 9PM BST.
