Battlefield 2042 Animations, Input Getting Updates, “Exposure” Map References Spotted in Patch 4.0

With DICE’s latest patch for Battlefield 2042, the studio unloaded a ton of fixes and improvements to the beleaguered shooter. Fortunately for those still playing (and enjoying) the game, DICE isn’t done with improvements just yet, as the studio confirmed that Battlefield 2042 animations and even its input for consoles are getting updates!

This was revealed by Lead Gameplay Designer Florian Le Bihan over on Twitter when he answered player concerns.

Le Bihan also confirmed that input will also be worked on especially for last-gen consoles.

Speaking of patch 4.0, reliable Battlefield dataminer temporyal has spotted references to the unreleased “Exposure” map in the game’s files due to the update! In case you didn’t know, we reported on Exposure being in the game’s files way back in February, and it looks like DICE is still working on it, as more references for it — which include new player cards — have been spotted!

Same as with any datamined info, there is no guarantee that Exposure/Ridge will make its way into the game. That said, the fact that more references for it are in teh game’s patches are a good sign that this map is part of the content rollout planned by DICE.

Aside from this map reference, a lot more has been unearthed via patch 4.0. There are new cosmetics spotted, Specialist reworks, and even weekly missions which suggest a June start date for the game’s first season. Hopefully, the patch planned for May is meaty enough that it once again contains a ton of improvements, but also more game files that give us a glimpse of the plans for the shooter.

In case you have any more questions, you can consult this battle pass FAQ for Bloodhunt:

Q: What is a Battle Pass?

Players looking for the ultimate customization can purchase the Battle Pass for 950 Tokens and get access to unlock over 100 items including Legendary, Epic, Rare and Uncommon outfits, accessories, emotes, currency packs, XP boosts and more!

Q: How does a Battle Pass Bundle differ from a Battle Pass?

Battle Pass Bundle unlocks your ability to gain all the rewards of the Battle Pass and be the first to stake out your own style with instant access to the first 20 Tiers of rewards.

Q: How do I buy the Battle Pass?

The Battle Pass can only be purchased from the in-game store using Tokens. Launch Bloodhunt, navigate to the Battle Pass tab in the menu and purchase it from there. If you need to purchase Tokens, you can find them in the in-game store too.

Q: What happens if I buy my Battle Pass late in the season?

You will receive all the rewards up to your Battle Pass level (which is your current level for the season), retroactively! For example, if you are on level 20 for the season when you buy the Battle Pass, you will unlock all rewards for every level up to 20.

Q: Can I keep leveling my Battle Pass after the season ends?

No, you can’t continue to level up the current season Battle Pass after the season ends.

Q: Do I keep my stuff after the season ends?

Yes! You keep every Battle Pass reward you have unlocked after the season is over.

Q: What if I don’t buy the Battle Pass? Can I still earn rewards for free?

Yes. Even if you don’t purchase the Battle Pass, you can still earn the available free rewards as you continue to level up.

Q: If I buy the Battle Pass, can I also get the free rewards?

Yes! Everyone can earn free rewards during the season.

Q: I bought the Battle Pass by mistake; can I get a refund?

Once a Battle Pass has been purchased, it is non-refundable.

Bloodhunt is now available on PC and PS5.

Genshin Impact Upcoming Update 2.7 Delayed, Compensation to Be Provided

miHoYo has delayed the Genshin Impact upcoming update 2.7, with further notices on its rescheduling and ample compensation to be provided in the future. In an announcement over on Twitter, the Genshin Impact team delivered the sad news, although it’s understandable given the current state of affairs for its developers.

Here’s the delay announcement of Genshin Impact update 2.7 via Twitter:

Dear Travelers,

Due to project progress, the Version 2.7 update will be postponed.

For detailed information on the date of the new update, content adjustment plan, and compensation, please stay tuned for upcoming announcements.

#GenshinImpact

We will provide the corresponding information to Travelers as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your support and understanding along this journey.

While miHoYo has not explicitly stated the reasons for the delay, a commenter pointed out that the current lockdown in Shanghai has significantly impacted almost all businesses and enterprises, and it will not be surprising to hear if the studio’s work is part of those affected by it.

During these tough times, it’s understandable that the developers are prioritizing their survival and basic needs over their work, and here’s hoping that the playerbase understands this as well. In any case, stay tuned here at MP1st for further updates on the delay for this patch for Genshin Impact.

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards This Week April 22, 2022:

Trials of Osiris Map

Dead Cliffs

  • Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism (3)
  • Reputation Rank 10: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 16: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Flawless Reward: The Messenger – Legendary Pulse Rifle (Adept)

Reputation System, Trials Engrams, and Adept Farming

Win individual rounds within each match to gain trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engram from Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be taken to Master Rahool for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the number of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Once you have gone flawless, keep playing! Every win on your still-flawless card will give you a chance at bonus, additional post-match drops of the Adept weapon for that week. Once you lose a game, you will no longer get these adept drops. However, still winning games at 7 wins even on a non-flawless can drop bonus trials engrams, prisms, and even ascendant shards.

When you’re done, you can cash in your 7-win passage for one additional adept drop, granted you have gone flawless that week. This resets your card so you can start anew.

Passages

Name Perk Cost

Gotham Knights Ratings Spotted in Taiwan; PS4, Xbox One Versions Not Mentioned

Gotham Knights ratings have been spotted in Taiwan, pointing to the game’s impending release. However, there’s also potentially some bad news ahead, as the ratings do not included the ones for PS4 and Xbox One, meaning that the game may not see a last-gen release.

At the time of writing, the pertinent ratings have been seemingly removed from the site; that said, Twisted Voxel has preserved a screenshot of the ratings for Gotham Knights on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles:

WB Games has not yet released an official announcement on if the last-gen versions are cancelled, but if there are no ratings to be seen for PS4 and Xbox One, this does not bode well for those expecting the game on the platforms. As always, we’ll just have to wait for the official announcements, so stay tuned here at MP1st! Don’t forget, nothing official has been announced, so this doesn’t mean that the game won’t appear on PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Once we know more, we’ll let our readers know about it ASAP.

Gotham Knights is arriving on consoles and PC this October 25, as announced by WB Games a month ago.

Sony Confirms Blocking of PS Plus & Now Renewal Cards; New PlayStation Plus Premium Conversion Table Revealed

Yesterday, we reported that Sony has seemingly blocked the renewal of PS Plus and Now via prepaid cards to prevent users from stacking their subscriptions before the roll out of the new PlayStation Plus Premium service. Sony today has confirmed that they are indeed blocking subscription renewals for the meantime while also providing a new PlayStation Plus Premium conversion table for your PS Plus and PS Now cards.

Here’s the official confirmation from Sony regarding the blocking via the updated PS Plus FAQ:

As we prepare to launch the new PlayStation Plus membership service, we are doing some work behind the scenes to make the transition as smooth as possible for all of our existing members. As part of this work, we’ve temporarily disabled stacking memberships for existing customers until after the launch. Rest assured that your voucher code is still valid, and you will be able to redeem your code either when your existing membership expires and deactivates, or after the new PlayStation Plus service launches in your area, whichever happens first.

This means that if you’re planning to stack subsciptions via these renewal cards, you’re out of luck. However, if you don’t have an existing subscription, it seems that you can safely subscribe to the service as per this line from the FAQ:

If you are not a current member of the service the voucher is for, you can redeem your voucher using PS4, PS5, Web and Mobile App. Click here for instructions. If you join PlayStation Plus and still have an active membership when the new PlayStation Plus service launches, you will transition into PlayStation Plus Essential. If you join PlayStation Now and still have an active membership when the new PlayStation Plus service launches, you will automatically migrate to the PlayStation Plus Premium.

As for those who have now stacked either PS Plus or PS Now cards and have existing subscriptions, you will be able to use your cards only after:

If you currently have a PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now membership, due to changes we are making to the service prior to launch, you won’t be able to redeem a voucher code for that service until your existing membership expires and deactivates, or after the new PlayStation Plus service launches in your area, whichever happens first. Rest assured that your voucher code is still valid.

As for the new conversion table for PlayStation Plus Premium, check out the handy table below to see how many days you can get from the cards you have:

PS Plus Non-subscriber Esential Extra Premium
1 month 31 days Essential 31 days Essential 20 days Extra 17 days Premium
3 months 92 days Essential 92 days Essential 58 days Extra 46 days Premium
12 months 365 days Essential 365 days Essential 219 days Extra 183 days Premium
PS Now Non-subscriber Esential Extra Premium
1 month 21 days Premium 40 days Essential 25 days Extra 21 days Premium
3 months 53 days Premium 105 days Essential 66 days Extra 53 days Premium
12 months 183 days Premium 365 days Essential 219 days Extra 183 days Premium

With this, it seems that Sony has curbed the possible exploit of users stacking their subscriptions before the service even releases. Given that there appears to be a lot of users who were affected by the sudden stoppage of renewal through cards, it’s good that Sony addressed the issue before the renewed service launches in June.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games Coming Next Week; Season 17 Weapon Pool & Ornaments Revealed

Bungie’s new update post brings about a yearly tradition, with the studio confirming the return of Destiny 2 Guardian Games next week! In addition, the weapons and ornaments coming to the loot pool for Season 17 has been unveiled, and you can check out a rundown of the latest update post below.

Here’s a brief rundown on the Guardian Games for Destiny 2, but with a new twist as it returns this year:

Guardian Games and Beyond

Eyes up, Guardian, it’s that time of year again. Next week, Guardian Games 2022 will kick off on May 3 and is free for all players of Destiny 2. This event is a tradition and it’s the perfect excuse to get into that friendly competitive spirit.
While the spirit of the annual class battle remains the same, Guardian Games 2022 does have a few changes that players can look forward to. First things first, what determines the winner? Much like previous Guardian Games, participants will be tasked with depositing those hard-earned medallions at the Podium in the Tower. You know the drill: medallions can be earned by completing certain activities and mini quests called Contender Cards and Platinum Cards. These activities are designed to be flexible, so if you’ve got the time, we’ve got those shiny medallions.
Higher-tier medallions, which grant more points, can be earned in activities like raids, dungeons, competitive PvP (Trials of Osiris and Survival), the Seasonal activity (PsiOps Battlegrounds) on a higher difficulty, and more. Lower-tier medallions, which are important too, drop in content like Gambit, Vanguard Strikes, Quickplay Crucible, and other Throne World activities at the standard difficulty level. Gold medals can be earned by completing Contender Cards in easier activities, whereas Platinum medals drop when Platinum Cards are completed on tougher content. Basically: Play what you want, snatch those Pinnacles, and scoop up some shiny medallions to bank at the Tower.
But wait, there’s more.
Something new coming to Guardian Games this year is Strike Scoring, which factors in play time only for Guardian Games playlists. Additionally, we’ve got Strike Medals, which are designed to reward players for pulling off some pretty impressive feats, like taking out a ton of enemies with a fancy little combat jig like Shatter. This should also help with players that feel like they are being matched with others that just zip right through strikes. Why rush through when you can score some additional points by going ham and showing the bad guys what’s up?
There are two Guardian Games playlists: Training and Competitive. And when you play matters. Let’s break it down:
  • On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, the place to be is the Training playlist. Here you can earn practice scores (the combined score of your entire fireteam).
  • On Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, it’s time to get sweaty in the Competitive playlist. This is where you’ll earn exciting rewards.
  • Players can earn buffs in the Recreational, Training, and Competitive playlists by ranking bronze, silver, gold, or platinum. These last until the next weekly reset.
  • You can use these buffs in the regular Vanguard Ops playlist.

As for the rewards that you’ll receive for participating in the Guardian Games, here’s what Jason Briggs, Test Lead at Bungie, describes it:

“A Hakke Void SMG for the Energy slot that is an aggressive frame with a unique origin perk, Classy Contender, which grants class ability energy with final blows from this weapon. It has a wide range of perks that it can roll with, and players will have many opportunities to earn fully Masterworked drops with double perks in both the third and fourth columns.”

Of course, as is tradition, players will once again be able to try out for the Heir Apparent Exotic and its catalyst, with both only available during the period of the Guardian Games.

Another focus for the TWAB is the new weapons and ornaments coming to the rotation pool for Season 17:

A Little More In-Game Weapon Love

With a new Season comes new rewards. The next Season is going to be a doozy, but we want you to experience the story and its surprises on your own, no spoilers here! That being said, we did want to share some of the rewards that are coming down the pipeline.
With Season 17, the ritual weapons available when ranking up will be the Heavy Machine Gun, Chain of Command. Like previous Seasons, this reputationally-driven reward will come with a unique ornament that depends on the vendor:
  • Crucible
    • Mandated Artillery Ornament
  • Gambit
    • Insubordination Ornament
  • Vanguard
    • Standard Regulation Ornament
For those itching for new Playlist weapons:
  • Crucible
    • Riptide Fusion Rifle
  • Gambit
    • Dead Weight Shotgun
  • Vanguard
    • Strident Whistle Bow
For Nightfall drops (includes both standard and adept versions)
  • Horror’s Least Pulse Rifle
  • D.F.A. Hand Cannon
And finally, Trials of Osiris:

Final Fantasy XVI in Final Stages of Development, Story Is ‘Very Fleshed Out’

Final Fantasy XVI producer Yoshida Naoki confirms that the game is in the final stages of development, while also stating that the game’s story will be very well fleshed out! His comments come from a special UNIQLO magazine celebrating the 35th birtday of the series.

Posted by user  ☆オードリーAudrey☆ over on Twitter, here is the message from Yoshida Naoki regarding Final Fantasy XVI development.

Yoshida Naoki Comment for FF16 from the UNIQLO 35th Anniversary pamphlet:

“We’re in the final stages of development for the new numbered game in the series, Final Fantasy XVI. We aim to deliver a comprehensive game full of story and gameplay. Unlike an online game that involves many players at the same time, FF16 offers a different experience where it focuses on the individual player and immerses you in the story. I think it is a very fleshed out story. For those who have grown up and realized that reality isn’t kind to you and have drifted away from Final Fantasy, we hope that FF16 will be a game that can bring back anew the passion that you once had with the series.”

This message lines up with Naoki’s last message to fans, revealing that more details on the game will come this spring. As we are currently in the midst of it, it maks sense that the game is now nearing completion, and we should get some news regarding Final Fantasy XVI soon.

Final Fantasy XVI is coming to PlayStation 5 at a yet-to-be announced date.

Hot Wheels Unleashed Update 1.14 Patch Notes | Hot Wheels Unleashed Update 1.015 | Hot Wheels Unleashed April 29 Patch Notes:

Given the last title update that was rolled out was for DLC support for the Monster Truck DLC, this sort of confirms that more DLC packs are on the way. For those curious, here’s what was in the Monster Truck DLC released this month:

This brand-new environment has four monster dioramas to play in and unleashes the power of these 4-wheeled monsters: the Jungle, the Quarry, the Desert and the Ice Mountain.

The Monster Trucks Expansion is included in the HOT WHEELS Pass Vol. 2 and can be purchased separately from April 21, 2022.

The HOT WHEELS Pass Vol. 2 will also include nine vehicles, three Themed Customization Packs and three Track Builder Modules and can be purchased beginning February 17, 2022. The HOT WHEELS Pass Vol. 2 is also included in Hot Wheels Unleashed Ultimate Stunt Edition, available on digital stores only, together with the HOT WHEELS™ Pass Vol. 1.

Chances are, we’ll be hearing more details about this DLC soon. Once we know more, we’ll let our readers know.

Battlefield 2042 Upside Down, Invisible Soldiers & Weekly Missions Bug to Be Fixed in Future Update

If you’ve encountered invisible or upside down soldiers in Battlefield 2042, you’re not alone. This Battlefield 2042 invisible soldiers bug has been around for quite some time, and thankfully, it seems a fix is incoming soon-ish.

Over on Twitter, Lead Gameplay Designer Florian Le Bihan confirmed that “some fixes” are on the way in the next BF2042 update to fix these issues.

Another thing that’s bugged is the weekly missions appearing in-game. Earlier today, we published the weekly missions and reward for the week, which should entice players to boot the game up and go after a specific new cosmetic. Unfortunately, some players cannot see the new missions in-game. DICE has confirmed that this, too, will be fixed in an upcoming update.

Both issues are being targeted for the next update, which is set for sometime in May. No further details regarding the May patch has been shared so far outside of these little tidbits, but we do know that the HDR option is being fixed in a future update as well.

For those suffering through invisible enemies in Battlefield 2042, rejoice! The wait won’t be that long now. If you know anyone encountering this, share this article and let them know that a fix is incoming.

Balan Wonderworld Director Yuji Naka Reveals He was Removed From Project, Talks About Development Issues With Square Enix

In a surprising turn of events, Balan Wonderworld director Yuji Naka turned to Twitter for a lengthy message suggesting his plans to sue Square Enix over the game’s release. Balan Wonderworld was panned critically, and it currently holds a 44 Metascore for PS4, with the rating low across all platforms. In his message, Yuji Naka states that he was removed from his directorial role six months before the game’s release, and that he believes that the game was released in an unfinished state.

Check out director Yuji Naka’s whole message on the Balan Wonderworld situation below (transcribed via VGC):

About six months before Balan Wonderworld launched, a business direct was made to remove me as Director of Balan Wonderworld, so I filed a lawsuit against Square Enix. I would like to share additional information now that the trial has concluded.

I believe that if they don’t care about games nor their fans, Square Enix is a bad company. According to official documents, the cause of my removal as Director of Balan Wonderworld is due to two main points. This decision was ultimately carried out by the Producer, Promotional Partner, Sound Director, Project Director, and Human Resources.

One point was when a YouTuber was to perform and publish the score of in-game music for promotional purposes, we got in trouble because we believed it was odd that a ghostwriter would write an arranged song for a brand new game, so we asserted that the original song should be used rather than an arrangement.

Furthermore, the business relationship with Arzest fell apart due to my comments about Arzest submitting the final build without fixing bugs even though there were problems during development, and I was pushing for further polish. After this, Oshima spoke to the Producer, Fujimoto, about this.

The second point is that Oshima wrote in an email to Fujimoto saying, “I gathered the development staff and informed them about pushing back the trial phase of development. [Oshima said] ‘This decision was made by Producer Fujimoto. Let’s do our best for Mr. Fujimoto.’ The staff applauded and cheered. This was wholly unexpected, and we were very touched. The staff, who had recently been rather dejected, were at an instant revitalized. Thank you very much. The entire staff will do our best.’

I don’t have anything to do with the development timeline because that is created by the Producer, not me (the Director). Such tight deadlines are decided by the Producer. Something didn’t seem quite right.

I don’t believe it’s a good idea to release an entirely original game, only to utilize arrangements. I believe that original music is what people are drawn to, and makes them crave more. I believe that a good game is made by working hard until the very end, and only then hoping fans will enjoy it. I think it’s strange to remove the Director who comments on the development without having been consulted to his opinions, and then not allowing him to be involved in any capacity due to time constraints.

I was banned from sharing and liking posts on social media sites, and so I do not believe that Square Enix is taking good care of their fans. There were so many kind comments and wonderful fanart for Balan Wonderworld, and I am sincerely sorry that I could not support you. I am also truly sorry to the fans who bought and supported Balan Wonderworld. Moving forward, I can finally respond to you if you mention or tag me on social media.

I think it is completely fair to ask for game improvements, since we were the team making the game, and if we couldn’t do that, we should have at least been able to discuss it, but it seems that we couldn’t even do that. I genuinely don’t believe they [Square Enix] care to support the game.

For example, in Sonic the Hedgehog, two weeks before going gold, we changed the mechanics where if you had even a single ring, you would not die. Even up to the very end, we were still trying to improve the game, and I hope that everyone is still enjoying those games today.

Game creators are supposed to improve their games until the very end, and I believe that it is wrong to prevent them from carrying out this goal. I asked my lawyer to negotiate with our business partners to at least allow me to address issues on Balan Wonderworld’s development until the very end, but they ignored my requests, so I ultimately decided to file a lawsuit in court.

It is because of this that Balan Wonderworld received all the criticisms and comments you all know well. It is quite unfortunate that a project I had spearheaded from the beginning would turn out this way.

Personally, I believe that it is a true disgrace that Balan Wonderworld was released in the state that it was in. I wanted to show the world an action game in its proper light. Therefore, I believe that Square Enix and Arzest are companies that care about neither games nor their fans.

It’s unclear yet as to what the status of the lawsuit is, or if it will even hold up. However, it’s interesting to hear Yuji Naka’s perspective on what many are considering to be one of the worse Square Enix releases in recent years.

Stay tuned for further developments on Balan Wonderworld and Yuji Naka’s lawsuit here at MP1st!
