The ARG Surrounding Call of Duty 2020 Is a Fantastic Exercise in Community Spirit

Call of Duty, which many are assuming will be another entry in the Black Ops series, is due to be officially announced very soon. However, even if the game’s announcement is met with nothing but a wave of backlash from fans, the lead up will always be known as nothing short of a fantastic example of community building.

Hints of this year’s Call of Duty have been dropped with a number of streamers and press outlets. Though not in the way you’d expect. Instead of simply sending information via email, or even just a letter, Activision has done something much much more insane. The company has sent these content creators a create each. Inside those crates were a series of slides, and various types of projector. Whilst some people got the same type or projector, most were unique in some way. I suspect that this is because some poor soul at Activision was tasked with buying 50 or so slide projectors in 2020. They then struggled to find 50 of the same device.

Regardless of why the projectors are different, the end result is the same. Each content creator now has a projector, a set of slides, and a community with which to try to solve an ARG game that ended with the news that a tease for the game is coming this week. It’s been going on for about one week at this point. Things have really spiced up since the projectors were sent out.

Content creators have been sharing the images, diving into them just about as deep as you can. These are people who are dedicating days to researching old maps and photos in an effort to understand the slides they now have. Their communities are also helping them, and it has led to some mixed results. Numbers have been found, both on the slides and in old game maps in Call of Duty games. Finally the puzzle was solved with this news that we’re going to get an official tease for the next Call of Duty game.

Great Community Management

I don’t think it would even matter if the riddle is never solved though. What Activision has achieved here is bringing the full force of the Call of Duty community back together. Some players lapsed from the franchise due to not liking one release or another. Warzone brought some of them back, but even people like me still refrain from playing the releases as they come out. Now however, we’re all invested in trying to understand what this ARG is telling us.

The beauty of the ARG is that it also leans quite heavily on the Black Ops series. Which is easily the most popular in the Call of Duty franchise. I believe that it’s where the games found themselves, and really carved out an identity unique to shooters. Sadly it was quickly lost, but those games have always been special to the community as a whole. Now Activision is doing more than simply referring players to a website like casinotalk.com to get updates via an image on what the latest game could be. They’re actively making the community work together in order to solve a puzzle. Rebuilding and reuniting their players before the reveal of their brand new game.

This reveal may be a flop. But it should go down in history as one of the best examples of community management in games.

Warframe Update 28.3.0 Released on PC, Includes Small Preview of Heart of Deimos Content

A new Warframe mainline update was pushed out a couple of days ago, brining a large amount of changes, including a sneak preview at some of the Heart of Deimos content. read on for the full Warframe Update 28.3.0 patch notes!

Down below you’ll find the notes for the latest mainline update. We went ahead an highlighted the Heart of Deimos content right before the patch notes for those interested.

  • Two New Nodes on Deimos: Located on Star Chart near Mars, the Orokin Derelicts have moved. In advance of the official Heart of Deimos update, Orokin Derelict Nodes have found a new home orbiting Mars and no longer require Keys to play! All Keys in your Inventory or in-progress in the Foundry have had their Credit and Resource costs refunded, while Nav Coordinates can be sold for extra Credits. Once Heart of Deimos launches, the Derelict node will become Deimos, along with two new nodes: The Cambion Drift and Necralisk! Check the forums post link above for more details.
  • The Helminth Infirmary has visually expanded! Make yourself familiar with Helminth (the giant mouth in your ship) before THE HELMINTH launches with the Heart of Deimos. For now you’ll still need a Cyst to enter the room so you can simply gaze at the Helminth in awe (IE disgust).

Warframe Update 28.3.0

OROKIN DERELICTS HAVE MOVED!
In advance of the official Heart of Deimos update, Orokin Derelict Nodes have found a new home orbiting Mars and no longer require Keys to play! All Keys in your Inventory or in-progress in the Foundry have had their Credit and Resource costs refunded, while Nav Coordinates can be sold for extra Credits (see below)! Once Heart of Deimos launches, the Derelict node will become Deimos, along with two new nodes: The Cambion Drift and Necralisk!

This raises the question: What happens to players on the Steel Path? You get a unique Emote and Trophy for each region that you have completed, but if the Derelicts aren’t on the map how will you get these rewards?

The answer is: After Heart of Deimos launches, finishing the Deimos region will give you BOTH the Deimos and Derelict rewards regardless of whether you have previously finished the Derelicts. This way everybody has a chance to finish their entire set, and thematically it respects both areas: the original Derelicts, and the new Deimos landscape.

General Additions:

  • The Helminth Infirmary has been visually expanded! Make yourself familiar with Helminth before THE HELMINTH launches with the Heart of Deimos. For now you’ll still need a Cyst to enter the room so you can simply gaze at the Helminth in awe (read: disgust).
  • Nav Coordinates can now be sold for 25 Credits and Lephantis Nav Coordinates for 500 Credits.
    • Next Hotfix will make Nav Coordinates sellable for 25 Credits. As for the Lephantis Nav Coordinates, they were automatically melted for 500 Credits each when you logged in – no need to manually Sell!

UI Reskins:

Since our Dev Workshops in early 2020, we have made a lot of progress behind the scenes on UI updates and changes. The End-of-Mission re-design is here, and it adheres to feedback we received as well as our own direction to better showcase your Warframes and your squads Warframes!

In general, these UI screens have been updated with fresh looks and will reflect your chosen UI Theme! More changes to come!

The End of Mission / Mission Progress screen have also received some functionality changes:

  • Added Collapse/Expand buttons (arrow with a +/× inside).
  • Rewards can be sorted by IMPORTANCE, NAME, or TYPE.
  • The Rewards section now has a Search bar.
  • STATS and PROGRESSION can be selected via the bottom right of the screen.
  • End of Mission screen now includes “Medals”! These are fun stats that highlight unique mission achievements aside from the usual, such as Lockers Opened, Syndicate Medallions Found, and much more!
    • More Medals to come as we continue working on these UI screens!

The Inbox UI:
df2bd39f2945b001e5d9129e0ed59f34.jpg

Numerous generic UI screens have also been updated! Such as the ‘FILTER MODS’ screen, when adding a custom Loc-Pin in a Free-Roam mission, selecting Friends to Batch Remove, etc:

The Steel Path Changes:

Resource Drop Chance Boosters now apply to Steel Essence and Riven Sliver drops within Steel Path missions.

To confirm player theories and clarify, previous to this Hotfix Resource Drop Chance Boosters did not affect Steel Essence or Riven Sliver drops in The Steel Path. It was not our intention to hide or subvert that information in game, and we should have clarified more quickly that this was the case.

Saying this doesn’t change what appears to be the broader issue, which is concerns with Steel Essence drop rates. We are still gathering data on acquisition rates – but ultimately we are all hands on deck working to make Heart of Deimos the best it can be for August 25th. As of this Hotfix, any Tenno who have already walked The Steel Path will receive a Resource Drop Chance Booster.

This Hotfix ensures that Resource Drop Chance Boosters work within The Steel Path for Riven Slivers and Steel Essence. They were initially turned off to ensure the inherent Steel Path Resource Drop Chance Booster worked as intended. Like the initial Arcane Marketplace in Scarlet Spear, we wanted to ensure the automatic ‘100% Steel Path Resource Drop Chance Booster’ didn’t unintentionally scale for Resources specific to the Steel Path (Riven Slivers and Steel Essence). This unfortunately also affected player obtained reward Resource Drop Chance Boosters.

Thank you all for the feedback so far on The Steel Path, it helps to shape our knowledge and decisions moving forward.

Zephyr Airburst Changes:

  • Zephyr’s Airburst Ability now has 2 behaviours based on if you’re HOLDING to cast vs TAP to cast:
  • Zephyr’s Airburst original functionality is now activated by HOLDING to cast.
    • Generate a burst of massively dense air that explodes on contact and sends enemies flying. Launch Airbursts into Tornadoes to make them grow.
  • By TAPPING Zephyr’s Airburst, it now sucks in enemies instead of pushing them away.
  • Increased Airburst projectile speed by 50%.
  • Increased Airburst casting animation speed by 20%.

Trinity Well of Life Changes:

Well of Life now passively heals allies in a radius around the target (base 100 Health per second within 8 meters). Shooting the held target gives extra Health to all allies in range (base 1% of damage dealt to the victim) instead of only the person who made the attack.

Well of Life also no longer increases the Health of the target (this was an old solution to prevent other players from killing the target too fast). Instead it now uses a more modern approach similar to Nyx’s Mind Control where the Damage gets stored and dealt at the end of the Ability.

General Warframe Ability Changes:

  • Increased the Cold Status Effects from 1 to 6 for these Frost Abilities (which brings it back to pre-Status Changes):
    • Freeze (Area of Effect)
    • Ice Wave (slow)
    • Avalanche (slow)
  • Ivara’s Artemis Bow now has 20% Status Chance per projectile. Also slightly tweaked how Status Chance and Multishot are displayed in Arsenal stats.
  • Made Loki’s decoy more visible with darker Energy colors and will now use secondary Energy colors.
  • Tweaked Mag’s Greedy Pull to pull over 0.75 seconds (down from 1.0).
  • Wukong’s Iron Staff now has a 100% Damage block.
    • All melee weapons are intended to have perfect blocking after Melee 3.0, Wukong’s staff just slipped through the cracks.

Warframe Update 28.3.0  General Changes:

  • Warframe Blueprint and Component costs from Simaris have been reduced by 50%!
  • Operator Amps damage conversion Arcanes now convert to 98% max so they can always deal a bit of Void Damage.
  • The Defense alarm will now sound at the start of every Wave in Orokin Defense missions.
  • Added the ‘infinite’ UI symbol to the Zeniths Secondary Fire Punch Through.
  • Increased Jackal Grid Wall damage attack but removed its ability to apply a Status Effect.
  • Added a Parazon spinning Revive animation when Reviving a player with the Parazon equipped.
  • Improvements towards AI pathing flow in Corpus Ship tilesets.
  • Removed unintended dirtiness on the Limbo Limina Collection items.
  • Every squadmate now gets a single Dojo Pigment drop per enemy killed, rather than 1 player getting 1-4 Pigments.
  • Updated ‘Solaris’ named Dojo decorations to ‘Orb Vallis’.
  • Made a slight boost to the muzzle flash size to improve visibility on Corinth Prime.
  • Cleaned up Melee grip FX across all Prime, Syndicate, Prisma, etc. weapons.
  • Added FX pulses to K-Drive Race points. Also removed a rogue point in one of the Orb Vallis Races.
  • Cleaned up the Lenz FX.

Warframe Update 28.3.0  Optimizations:

  • Made micro-optimizations to some UI screens/systems.
  • Optimized UI text rendering.
  • Made a number of micro-optimizations to UI and FX rendering.
  • Made some micro-optimizations for dual-core systems with simultaneous multi-threading.

  • Fixed inability to reload your Primary/Secondary after performing a stealth Melee takedown on a Moa (any variant) while a Primary or Secondary weapon is equipped in hand, due to the Melee weapon attaching to the hand of the Warframe instead of returning to the holster position.
  • Fixed the Athodai Alt Fire only draining the Magazine down by 24 Ammo (the default) rather than drain the Magazine to 0 as intended when equipped with Magazine capacity increase Mods.
  • Fixed ability to teleport Excavators with Nova’s Wormhole.

Microsoft Considered Shipping Halo Infinite in Parts to Meet 2020 Release

Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently spoke about the Halo Infinite delay and how the team was evaluating different options, including one to ship the game is smaller parts.

During an talk with Garry Whitta’s on his Twitch show, Animal Talking, Phil Spencer spoke a bit about the Halo Infinite delay, and how they were considering releasing it in individual parts to make the Xbox Series X’s launch. Thankfully, this didn’t pan out as the team felt that it wouldn’t have been the same as the launch that they had originally planned.

“It is a bummer,” Spencer said. “I know it’s disappointing to people, it’s disappointing to us. We were looking forward to the alignment of Halo and Series X really as a seminal moment for Xbox, looking back to the launch of the original Xbox and Halo CE.

It won’t be our favourite day but we’ll get through it – I’ve had bad days before – we’ll move through it and keep working on the things we love doing.”

The news of Halo Infinite delay was just two short days ago, with 343 Industries citing COVID-19 and multiple other reasons for the delay. This news just comes three weeks after the reveal of Halo Infinite gameplay, which has been met with a large amount of criticism due to the visuals and other shortcomings.

Here’s the message from 343 Industries concerning the delay:

Today I want to share an important Halo Infinite development update with the community. We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision.

The decision to shift our release is the result of multiple factors that have contributed to development challenges, including the ongoing COVID-related impacts affecting us all this year. I want to acknowledge the hard work from our team at 343 Industries, who have remained committed to making a great game and finding solutions to development challenges. However, it is not sustainable for the well-being of our team or the overall success of the game to ship it this holiday.

We know this will be disappointing to many of you and we all share in that sentiment. The passion and support the community has shown over the years have been incredible and inspiring. We wanted nothing more than to play our game with the community this holiday. The extra time will let us finish the critical work necessary to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever at the quality we know our fans expect.

Thank you for your support and understanding,

Chris Lee

Studio Head, Halo Infinite

Halo infinite will be targeting a 2021 release on PC, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series X.

Insurgency Console Release Set for First Half of 2021

Back in June, studio New World Interactive has announced that the Insurgency console release window has been pushed back with no new timeframe from its originally scheduled release date in August. Shooter fans who want a little more authenticity there’s some good news and bad news.

Apparently, the Insurgency: Sandstorm console release window is now in the first half of 2021, and what’s more, Saber Intteractive (World War Z) is now being included in development duties as well. This bit of info was revealed during the Embrace Group’s acquisition of eight new studios, which includes New World Interactive. Embracer Group is also the partent company of THQ Nordic.

Those not familiar with Insurgency: Sandstorm, it’s a multiplayer, tactical first-person shooter that was released back in 2018 on PC. It has since garnered a steady player-base, and one, we here at MP1st has been hoping to see appear on consoles. While we’re a few months out from 2021, at the very least, knowing it’ll be out in the first few months of next year is very welcome news, and it helps fill the gap left by not having a new Battlefield game to play just yet.

Are you interested in Insurgency to hit consoles or are you too busy playing the multitude of multiplayer games available on PS4 and Xbox One to even care?

Epic Games Trolls Apple Over Fortnite iOS Pulling With 1984 Commercial

Earlier today Epic Games introduced a new feature in Fortnite. The feature allowed players to purchase V-Bucks with a discount of 20%. Effectively this changed the price of 1,000 V-Bucks from $10 to $8 in a simple update. There seems to be little reason for this change on console or PC, but on Fortnite iOS it’s plain to see. Usually you need to pay for V-Bucks through the Apple App Store, or Google Play Store. However, this update adds a second option that offers the cheaper 20% discount rate, but only if you pay directly with Epic Games.

Currently both Google and Apple take a 30% cut from all purchases on their platforms. This new feature means that Epic Games still earn more money from V-Bucks purchases. But they have dropped the price by almost the entire cut that Apple or Google would take. As you can imagine, this change didn’t go unnoticed.

The first development of the situation came when Apple removed Fortnite iOS from the App Store. It would seem that they are well within their rights to do so. As they put it in a statement, this new feature was updated to the game without Apple’s approval. In fact, they say that the direct purchase option directly violates the store’s rules. While they added that they are willing to work with Epic Games to come to a mutual agreement on the feature, they weren’t willing to simply let this slide.

After Apple’s statement, things got strange. It would seem as though Epic Games expected the removal of Fortnite iOS, because they had a lawsuit ready and waiting to be filed. The developer is now suing Apple over the game’s removal. The crux of the lawsuit actually seems to using Fortnite as a last straw. The lawsuit says that Apple is effectively holding developers hostage because of how integral smartphones are to people’s lives today. They add that taking such a high cut from purchases, when the cut is closer to 3% on developers selling computer software, is egregious. The lawsuit goes on to say that Epic Games isn’t seeking any money from the court. They simply want a new precedent set that is fairer for developers.

To tie things up even more, and further prove that this plan has been in the works for a while, a short film was released in Fortnite.

As you can see, the short film leans heavily on the movie, based on the book, Fahrenheit 1984. It’s almost ridiculous, but it is actually sort of inspiring. Clearly Epic Games wants to change the way Apple chart developers for putting games on their smartphones. It’s something they’ve done previously with the Epic Game Store, though they’re not currently able to offer their own app store unless they launch a new line of smartphones.

Right now players around the world are using #FreeFortnite to pressure Apple into giving in to Epic Games. The game is played by millions of people each day. There are easily enough to apply adequate pressure. The question is, what will happen if Apple refuses to give in and put Fortnite back on the App Store, or offer developers a lower cut?

Destroy All Humans Review – All Hail the Furon Empire

Kind of strange knowing that it’s been a little over 15 years since the original Destroy All Humans! launched on the PS2. While a distant memory, one thing I did like about the original release was the amount of mindless fun it had to offer. Of course, I was far younger than and looking back it, it certainly isn’t a title that aged well in terms of visuals and gameplay. So it came much of a surprise when publishers THQ and developers Black Forest Games announced last year (2019) that they would be remaking the original, bringing it up to modernized standards. Thinking back to the days when games were more fun, I couldn’t help but feel excited by this news, and with Destroy All Humans! (2020) now finally released, it’s time to crack this B-movie style game once more.  Read on for our Destroy All Humans review.

A Little Green Man With a Big Attitude

As the title suggests, Destroy All Humans! is a game about, well, destroying all humans. You play as a little gray alien named Crypto 137, who after discovering his clone, 136 was killed in action by the military forces of Earth, decides to take revenge in the most diabolical ways imaginable. This includes using his heavy arsenal of weapons, such as mind control, telekinesis, Disintegrator Ray Gun, and even a weapon known as the Anal Probe. Yeah, you read right, a literal weapon based on theories of what aliens do to human beings. It’s a very campy game, paying homage to many B-flicks films from the 20th-century era.

Crypto 137 himself, although extremely aggressive, is a pretty snappy character, though not all jokes hit home. They are pretty crude at some point, but that’s part of the charm of the original as while it may appear as a child’s game, it really isn’t once you really pay attention to some of the jokes 137 makes. Many well ahead of their time, with some still being as offensive even for today. Outside of 137, we also have the overlord of this alien race, played by nonother than Invader’s Zim’s own voice actor, Richard Horvitz. While the dialogue and voices are direct rips from the 2005 version, hearing Richard’s character in the same voice as Invader Zim is still to this day one of the best things about Destroy All Humans. It’s over-the-top, and still, an absolute delight despite the audio being 15-years old.  Again, the story may not hit for some as jokes come from a riskier timeframe, though that’s one of the reasons why many of us loved the original since it didn’t shy from having crude humor. If you don’t take the story seriously, then you’ll end up having a far better time.

Out With the Old, In With the “New”

While the story and audio remain the same as the original 2005 version, the remake adds a whole new fresh coat of paint that really shines. For being a budget-tier title ($40), Destroy All Humans! 2020 looks surprisingly well. While it maintains the same aesthetic feeling of the 1950s with its vibrant color tonnage, some of the character models, more so the Overlord and Crypto 137 look absolutely fantastic, especially during some Pixar quality cutscenes between the two. There are some rough patches with blurry textures and clear downgrades between the in-game and cinematic models, but for a remake, it stays true to the original vision, just in a prettier fashion.

Gameplay, however, is the same for the most part, just with a more modernized feeling. Its a lot smoother, with the frame-rate holding well even during 137’s most rampage filled moments. There is also multitasking this time around. In the original, you could only use one ability at a time, whereas in the remake you can now you can move objects while also shooting and doing a number of other things all at the same time. It’s a great change as it adds more variety in the gameplay, along with removing the stiffness that the original had. Weapons, although the same, now feature more upgrades, making them more unique and deadlier than ever before. I couldn’t help but chuckle at how some of the characters reacted, and even at times felt a bit bad for subduing them to such tortures.

The only real thing I found annoying was the stealth missions. Too many wrong things could occur during them. The checkpoint system is a bit wonky as well, as one moment it’s saving nearly every objective, and then in the next, you find yourself redoing entire segments because of no checkpoints.

For the most, the remake features nearly all the original missions with the inclusion of a new one that slips perfectly into the narrative. It would have been nice to see more of these to give more uniqueness to the remake but by no means does that make it less enjoyable. In fact, while the missions are the same, there are now bonus objectives for each of them, giving players a great deal of replayability. Some are challenging while others are simple, but I can’t say that I didn’t enjoy the extra challenge they had to offer. Some of them even made me play the game in a different style as I hadn’t thought about using certain environmental pieces as weapons.

Destroy All Humans! may not be a triple AAA killer, but it’s a great title that reminds of a time in gaming where developers took big risks. Some may view it as a game that never outgrew its time, but I’ve never been one to view games as serious if they clearly aren’t meant to be taken as such. Destroy All Humans! 2020 is a wonderful remake, one that will satisfy fans of the niche series. I highly recommend anyone wanting interested, as it will give you countless hours of mindless fun.

SCORE: 8/10

Pros:

  • Dumb fun, what more can one want?
  • Audio is 15 years old, but it has aged extremely well and fits right in with the remake.
  • Visuals and performance are done well.
  • While not the best writing, it still maintains it’s original charm with its crude humor.
  • Some welcomed content like more upgrades and new optional objectives.

Cons:

  • Stealth mechanics could use work.
  • Checkpoints can be a hit and miss, frustrating at times.

Destroy All Humans! review code provided by the publisher. Reviewed on the PS4 Pro. You can read SP1st and MP1st’s review and scoring policy right here.  Destroy All Humans! is now available to purchase on the PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

The Last of Us 2 Update 1.05 August 13 Adds Permadeath Mode and More

As expected from Naughty Dog’s previous announcement, The Last of Us 2 update 1.05 August 13 patch is now out, and it adds a new difficulty mode and more. This is one meaty patch, so head on below for the full list of new features and more.

The Last of Us 2 Update 1.05 August 13 patch notes:

GROUNDED DIFFICULTY RETURNS, PLUS NEW PERMADEATH MODE

For veteran The Last of Us fans, Grounded difficulty represents the ultimate test of skill. This difficulty raises the stakes by not only making enemies deadlier and ammo, upgrade, and crafting materials incredibly scarce, but also removing invaluable tools for survival, such as disabling Listen mode, deactivating elements of the HUD, and more**. Beginning with the update, Grounded will become one of the base difficulty options available when starting the story, so you won’t need to have beaten the game once already to access it.

As an additional layer of challenge, we’re also introducing a brand new Permadeath mode***. With this custom mode enabled, there are no second chances–you must complete the entire game without dying or start over from the beginning. However, if taking on the whole game is too daunting, you can choose to enable Permadeath mode with checkpoints on a per-chapter or per-act basis. In other words, if you die at the end of Day One, you’ll have to play the entire day over again.

You’ll also be rewarded for your efforts. The Grounded update introduces two new Trophies: one for completing the game with any Permadeath mode enabled and another for beating it on Grounded difficulty. Don’t worry, though, neither of these Trophies will be required in order to earn the Platinum.

NEW GRAPHICS, AUDIO, AND GAMEPLAY MODIFIERS

Have you ever wondered what The Last of Us Part II would look like as a cel-shaded adventure or if it was made in the retro 8-bit era? How about if it was a black and white noir thriller or sepia-toned classic? With this week’s update, we’re adding nearly 30 new graphics rendering modes, as well as several new audio modifiers that allow you to change the look and feel of the game.

We’re also debuting new unlockable gameplay modifiers, like One Shot or Touch of Death that enable one-hit kills or Infinite Ammo, Infinite Crafting, or Infinite Listen Mode Range to add a new twist to gameplay:

  • Mirror World
  • Mirror on Death
  • Slow Motion
  • Bullet Speed Mode
  • Infinite Ammo
  • Infinite Crafting
  • Infinite Melee Durability
  • Infinite Listen Mode Range
  • One Shot
  • Touch of Death
  • 8-bit Audio
  • 4-bit Audio
  • Helium Audio
  • Xenon Audio
  • Saves now display playtime up to the second
  • Film Grain Adjustment option
  • Disable Listen Mode option
  • Motion Sensor Function Aiming option
  • Arc Throw HUD Display option
  • Aiming Acceleration Scale option
  • Aiming Ramp Power Scale option
  • Accessibility improvements to Ground Zero encounter, collectible tracking, Enhanced Listen Mode for collectibles, and rope gameplay

All of these modifiers can be accessed via the Extras menu and unlocked after completing the game.

NEW OPTIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS

Alongside these new modes, we’re excited to introduce a number of frequently requested improvements to the game, including the option to disable Listen Mode, adjust Film Grain levels, additional display options, improvements to accessibility features, and more. For our friends in the speedrunning community, we’re also adding the ability to see playtime up to the second in the saves menu, making it easier to track and verify your runs. Here’s a quick overview of the new features that will be added with the Grounded update:

  • Saves now display playtime up to the second
  • Film Grain Adjustment option
  • Disable Listen Mode option
  • Motion Sensor Function Aiming option
  • Arc Throw HUD Display option
  • Aiming Acceleration Scale option
  • Aiming Ramp Power Scale option
  • Accessibility improvements to Ground Zero encounter, collectible tracking, Enhanced Listen Mode for collectibles, and rope gameplay

In case you haven’t picked it up yet, go read up on our review here.

SMITE Update 11.51 August 13 Patch Released

While Hi-Rez Studios just released the SMITE God of the Moon patch earlier this week that brought in new content, the studio has released the SMITE update 11.51 August 13 patch, and as one might expect, this one is focused on fixes more than anything else.

SMITE Update 11.51 August 13 patch notes:

According to the official SMITE Trello board, this patch is just for “maintenance.” In addition to that, we’ve also included the list of items in “Incoming Hotfix,” though this doesn’t mean these fixes are already live.

  • Getting a chat message while typing will cause the client to lose focus
  • SPL standings showing incorrect data
  • [Match Lobby] Colored text within ability descriptions is not displayed correctly
  • Tsukuyomi Ult dash cancelled from CC
  • If Hera is interrupted or damaged enough during A03, it doesn’t go on cooldown or cost mana
  • Tsukuyomi kills a god with ult and then dashes to a target that was certainly too far away to be hit by the initial shots
  • On instant cast, Tsukuyomi’s A03 goes further than intended if camera is flicked

Once and if we get more details regarding this patch, we’ll update the post. If you spot any gameplay-related changes, that wasn’t in the patch released earlier this week, let us know below.

RDR2 Update 1.22 August 13 Gallops Out, Here’s What Got Fixed (Update)

Following weeks of virtually no updates from Rockstar Games when it comes to Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2), we now have gotten three patches in a span of two weeks! Rockstar Games has released the RDR2 update 1.22 August 13 patch, and as one might expect, it’s purely for fixes brought on by patch 1.21!

RDR2 Update 1.22 August 13 patch notes and changes:

In case you didn’t know  this week’s Red Dead Redemption 2 update brought in a few issues in tow, which included connection problems, low animal spawns and more. Here’s the official message from Rockstar:

Question: Why were there issues with Red Dead Online including connection problems, low animal spawns and others?

Answer: An update to Red Dead Online intended to provide security improvements and address connection errors unintentionally introduced a range of issues including connection problems, low animal spawn counts, difficulty pitching Camps, entering Moonshine shacks as well as others on PS4 and Xbox One. We have reverted back to the previous version on those platforms, initially launched on July 28. This should address these recent issues and restore stability – meanwhile we will continue to work to eliminate any remaining issues through future updates.

Note that this was tweeted out by the official Rockstar Support Twitter account, and mentioned that a fix is being developed as well:

We are aware some players may currently be experiencing a range of issues as a result of yesterday’s RDR2 Title Update. We are currently developing fixes to address these and will share more information as it is available. For more details please visit

Hopefully, the connection issues are sorted out with this new RDR2 update. If in case it isn’t, and if Rockstar releases official notes, we’ll update the post.

Don’t forget to check out the big Red Dead Redemption 2 Summer Update content drop right here.

Update: Rockstar has issued a statement announcing that the version of the game on consoles has revereted pre-update 1.21! The full explanation is in the Question and Answer part.

PUBG Update 1.48 August 13 Patch Deployed for Item Drop Fixes & More

While Season 8 of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) was just released on consoles two weeks ago, PUBG Corp. has released a new the PUBG update 1.48 August 13 patch for consoles today, and it’s primarily for fixes.

PUBG Update 1.48 August 13 patch notes:

Here’s what got fixed according to the devs:

[Console] A hotfix has been applied to live servers to resolve several issues, including items dropping randomly from backpacks.

We’ve also changed the frequency of Sanhok being selected during public matchmaking back to being equal with other maps.

Some might have assumed that this was the big 8.2 title update. Sadly, it’s not and that one is still set for release on consoles this August 19. You can read the patch notes of that upcoming update here.

If you spot any changes not include in the patch notes above, let us know down in the comments. Once we’ve proven them to be legit, we’ll update the post and credit the tip sender.

Report: Apex Legends Compound Bow Accidentally Outed by Dev

While we already know that Respawn Entertainment will be introducing a new weapon in the Volt SMG in Season 6 of Apex Legends, it seems there might be another weapon headed to the game, as an Apex Legends compound bow has been spotted in one of the screenshots!

Respawn Entertainment Principal Lighting Artist Austin Arnett posted the screen before deleting it since, well, there’s no bow available in the game yet. Thankfully, YouTuber DANNYonPC managed to record it! Check it out below.

Obviously, even if it’s been outed by a dev, there’s no guarantee that we’ll see it in Season 6 or at all. That said, if it was a scrapped weapon, we would have probably heard Arnett mention that, no?

Season 6 of Apex Legends starts next week on August 18, and we’ll get a new legend in Rampart! Check out the latest Stories From the Outlands animated short to know more about the upcoming legend’s story.

Would you want a bow to add to Apex Legends’ ever-increasing amount of armaments or would you rather get another gun in its place than something as gimmicky as bow?
