Here’s Our First Look at Modern Warfare Nuke Gameplay Before the Game Launches

In case you didn’t know, the Nuke is back in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare! For those not familiar with how it works, the Nuke is a match-ending killstreak reward wherein the player must earn 30 straight kills just by using weapons, and nothing else. Before the game launches later, you can catch our first look at Modern Warfare Nuke gameplay below (thanks to Mamba).

While someone got it during the Modern Warfare beta, that was one bad video with the dude shouting and you don’t see anything else. This one is different, though I do apologize for the quality as it’s captured before launch.

(Note: We can’t upload the video on YouTube due to copyright restrictions, but we will do so once we can).

What do you think of it? At least it shows the victory/loss screen, right? Hopefully, we’ll be able to pull off one of our own soon.

While our Modern Warfare review won’t be hitting at launch since we’ll want to spend considerable time with the multiplayer in real-world conditions, we’ll be posting a ton of Modern Warfare coverage that you won’t find anywhere else. Check out the links below for the complete list of weapons, killstreaks and more.

The Division 2 Sales Disappoint Ubisoft, Considered a Commercial Failure

With the first The Division game, Ubisoft managed to hit its niche as it offered (kind of) the same gameplay look found in titles like Destiny. When a sequel was announced, most assumed that The Division 2 sales would be a home run for the publisher, but it seems less than a year since its launch, Ubisoft isn’t happy where it is now.

Update: The Ubisoft conference call is now available in their archive, here is the official quote stated during the call.

Our latest two triple AAA released underperformed commercially versus our anticipation. Additionally, while The Division 2 was critically acclaimed, Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s critical reception was very disappointing and ended up significantly below our expectations. In the end, we did not fully deliver on both games’ potential.

They then discussed the drops in their net profit by lowering their expectations for both titles along with a number of delays.

Original Story

As part of a press release announcing Ubisoft’s updated financial targets, the publisher confirmed that The Division 2 sales were a disappointment, stating, “A sharp downward revision in the revenues expected from Ghost Recon Breakpoint and, to a lesser extent, The Division 2.”

To further add fuel to the fire, French journalist Chloé Woitier tweeted a bunch of stuff from a Ubisoft press conference call regarding the publisher’s financials.

Here are translations of some of his tweets (via Reddit user Indy201):

Ongoing conference: The Division 2 is also part of Ubisoft’s commercial failures.

Even if this is the case, Ubisoft is still supporting the game hard, and we just got Episode 2 earlier this month, and there’s a slate of content set to appear in the game even up to 2020, so The Division 2 players are sure to play something new.

Are you surprised b this news or not really? What do you contribute to The Division 2’s low sales?

New The Last of Us 2 Release Date Announced for May 2020

Just about a month ago, Naughty Dog finally announced The Last of Us 2 release date which was (then) set for February 21, 2019. Unfortunately, we have some bad news today. Naughty Dog has confirmed that game has been pushed, and the new The Last of Us 2 release date is now May 29, 2020!

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Naughty Dog Director Neil Druckmann penned a letter to fans apologizing for the delay.

To our fans,

Let me cut to the chase and get the news out of the way. The Last of Us Part II has a new release date of May 29, 2020.

I know. It was just about a month ago when we had our big blowout for the game, letting media play over two hours of it along with debuting our new story trailer and revealing the release date. The positive response we saw from our community was overwhelming. You can feel the energy among the team members. After working on something for so many years, it’s invigorating to get a glimpse of validation for all the hard work.

However, it was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realized we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality. At this point we were faced with two options: compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team.

While we’re relieved that we won’t have to compromise our vision, we’re disappointed that we weren’t able to avoid this exact situation. We wish we could’ve foreseen the amount of polish we needed, but the size and scope of this game got the better of us. We hate disappointing our fans and for that we’re sorry.

We hope you understand that this additional time ensures that The Last of Us Part II lives up to our collective ambition as well as our commitment to the highest level of quality. We know the extra few months will add to what may already be an excruciating wait for all of us. We are grateful for your patience and continued support. Come next May, you will finally rejoin Ellie in The Last of Us Part II.

-Neil

The upside here is, Naughty Dog is known for the love and polish they put into their games, and the studio admitting that they want to polish it even more, is a good sign that The Last of Us 2 is in a good place.

Dying Light Update 1.20 Patch Notes – Left 4 Dead Crossover Event Now Live

In case you didn’t know, the fine folks at Techland is still supporting Dying Light, even after three years of being out, which is kind of unheard of in today’s gaming landscape. Today, the developers have something extra special for players, and that’s with Dying Light update 1.20, since it brings Valve’s Left 4 Dead franchise into the game — sort of.

Note that some people might see this as Dying Light 1.14 on PS4, and that’s due to the game’s complete edition needing less patches and such. For all intents and purposes, we’re calling this one the Dying Light update 1.20 patch, and here’s what’s new based on the update history:

Dying Light 2 update 1.20 patch notes:

  • New type of live event added
  • New weapon have been added
  • Minor bug fixes

Unfortunately, that’s basically it. Players will need to check out this new weapon themselves, and of course, the new dangers in this new live event. If you think about it, isn’t that part of the fun?

As for the sequel, don’t forget to check out some Dying Light 2 gameplay to see how much it has advanced compared to the original.  According to Techland, Dying Light 2 map will be four times the original, which itself wasn’t a small game, either.

Those are a lot of notes to take in, and we’re still hard at work addressing reported issues in Borderlands 3. But given that we’re just about a month out from Borderlands 3’s launch, we’d like to take this opportunity to outline our plans for future updates, including some of the community’s most frequently requested changes. There can always be unforeseen challenges when working on patches and hotfixes, so we’ll keep you posted on more concrete release timings as these updates continue to progress. Here’s a look at some of the things we’re working to implement in future patches.

PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY

  • Game performance and stability continue to be our top priorities. The first fruits of that labor will be released in our upcoming November patch, with various improvements game-wide. We’ve also been hard at work improving the game’s stability and more improvements in this regard are expected to be included in the November patch. Performance and stability will continue to be an ongoing effort with more fixes rolled out with each upcoming patch.

THE BANK

  • Expanding the bank has been the most consistently requested feature by the community. We’ve heard you loud and clear and the groundwork for expanding the bank has already started. The first of several planned expansions will coincide with the release of Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite. Expect a significant bank expansion that will more than double the existing space. Additional expansions to the bank will continue to be rolled out over future releases.

DEDICATED LOOT POOLS FOR BOSSES

  • Several of you have stated a desire to find gear more easily in the game. To do that we are updating the loot pools (the data that determines what in-game items drop) to ensure that more specific gear drops from bosses. That means you’ll be able to go to a specific boss to get the specific gear you’re looking for. We’re working out which bosses get which gear right now and expect this to be ready as part of the November patch as well.

CHARACTER BUFFS

  • In the late stages of the game when Mayhem Mode is active, we’ve found that player companions (Moze’s Iron Bear, FL4K’s pets, and Zane’s Digi-Clone/SNTL) are reportedly not performing as well as we had expected. To address this, we’re looking at how to adjust damage according to the relevant skills and gear. The goal here is to make sure we have as many viable character builds as possible.

ADDITIONAL MAYHEM LEVELS AND MAYHEM 2.0

  • Mayhem Mode has been a fantastic addition to the Borderlands world. After receiving some great community feedback, we’ve been hard at work on a significant revamp that will introduce a host of improvements over several upcoming updates.
  • The first update will be released as part of the Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite and includes the first new Mayhem Mode level, Mayhem 4. Expect a significant challenge when it debuts, with tougher enemies that reward players with highly synergized character builds. A new batch of Legendary gear will also only drop while in Mayhem 4 to reward those players who are truly up for the challenge.
  • Longer term we have plans to overhaul Mayhem Mode with more UI support, new Mayhem Modifiers that change gameplay more dramatically, Mayhem playlists, new rewards, and additional levels of Mayhem to work through. We’re excited about Mayhem 2.0 and we’ll talk more about it when we get a little closer to its release.

VENDING MACHINES

  • Marcus heard the outcry for more vending machines, so we’re airdropping in some more across multiple maps. Expect new ammo and health vending machines outside of a few boss arenas and a few in some of the bigger environments. Below are the locations where the new vending machines will be appearing:
    • Athenas
    • Atlas HQ
    • Skywell-27
    • Lectra City
    • Jakobs Estate
    • Voracious Canopy
    • Tazendeer Ruins
    • The Pyre of Stars

SKIPPABLE CINEMATICS

  • We’re currently investigating the best way to approach letting players skip cutscenes. This is much easier said than done. Under the hood, the game may activate critical events based on cinematics. In order to make sure mission progression isn’t negatively impacted, we need to inspect each cinematic and make sure those events still work correctly. We have a few ideas on how to tackle this problem and expect to have a solution soon.

TARGET DUMMY

  • Need an easier way to test your gear? We’re going to add a target dummy to the shooting range on Sanctuary III! We feel this is the best location since your bank is also on the ship. This way you can manage and test your builds on Sanctuary III without having to travel anywhere else. You can expect to see this sometime in December.

THE FUTURE

  • The list above is only a high-level look at what some of our teams are working on. Stay tuned as we continue to add more information and additions to this list. We here at Gearbox are excited about where Borderlands 3 is heading, and we look forward to showing you all the content that’s still to come!

For the full skinny on Bloody Harvest, head on over here.

NetherRealms Studios Would Like to See Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Remastered

Co-creator of Mortal Kombat and creative direction of NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, opens up on the subject of remasting some of their older titles. During the Brazil Game Show, Ed Boon took to a public Q&A, discussing both the past and future of Mortal Kombat. Aside from stating that there will be a big surprise next year for Mortal Kombat fans, Ed Boon also touched briefly on one of the many titles that fans have requested to get remastered.

“We’ve talked about doing remasters of some of the older games, you know Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks was one of the ones that have been asked for doing a remastered version and in we’re thinking of it,” Ed Boon kontinues “we have nothing to announce but it would be something we’d like to see”
For those who aren’t familiar with the title, Shaolin Monks was a beat-em-up action-adventure game that released back in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. You followed the characters Lui Kang and Kung Loa as they ventured through the realms of Outworld to stop Shang Tsung evil plans. The game received positive reactions from both critics and fans at the time of release, although it never did get a sequel to follow after it despite being planned.
Since then fans have been begging for a sequel, or in the least a re-release on current-gen consoles. As Ed Boon said though, this isn’t an announcement, though one does have to question what is stopping the studio from making a new one.
For those who are interested in watching the full interview, you can watch a supercut down below.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Field Upgrades, and Equipment (Tactical & Lethal) – Complete Lists

One of the new gameplay mechanics introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are “Field Upgrades.” If you played the beta, these items recharge over time, and give an assortment of benefits like extra bullets, a deployable cover and so on. We now have the Modern Warfare Field Upgrades complete list, along with the complete equipment list as well! Once again, this is thanks to gamer Mamba who provided us with the early screenshots.

Will Field Upgrades be as annoying as Specialists in Black Ops 4? Probably not. But let’s hope there’s not one Field Upgrade that proves to be overpowered that everyone is using it.

Which Field Upgrade will you use come launch? Share ’em in the comments.

Fallout 76 Subscription Fee Announced for “Fallout 1st,” Here’s What You’ll Get for Being a Member

In case you need more Fallout in your life, Bethesda has announced a Fallout 76 subscription service called “Fallout 1st.” The Fallout 76 subscription fee is $12.99 for one month, or get it for an entire year (12 months) for “just” $99.99!

Here’s what you’ll be getting for being a Fallout 1st member:

PRIVATE WORLDS

The community has been asking for the ability to play in private worlds since before the launch of Fallout 76, and we’re very excited to announce that they are coming to the game with Fallout 1st. If you’re a Fallout 1st member, how you use your private world is completely up to you: Invite up to seven of your friends at a time (eight total people per private world) to join you in taking on the dangers of post-apocalyptic West Virginia, or play completely solo. All gameplay remains the same from Adventure Mode and all characters entering the Fallout 1st private worlds must be existing characters.

Only the owner of a private world is required to be a Fallout 1st member. Head into your private world, open your Social menu once you’re in-game, and start inviting your friends to kick off the party. You can also create a squad outside of your private world and then switch to it to bring everyone along at once. Should the owner of the private world leave, the world will still stay active as long as one other player in the world is a Fallout 1st member.

Private worlds will continue to evolve with new features such as expanded building areas, increased C.A.M.P. budgets and Workshop persistence. We’ve also received a lot of questions about playing Fallout 76 with mods and this, too, is something we’re excited to add to private worlds in the future.

Aside from that, here’s a look at the Ranger Armor outfit exclusive to members:

Members will also get 1,650 monthly Atoms and exclusive Atomic Shop sales, too. Additionally, another perk for being a member is having your own private Scrapbox which has unlimited storage.

There’s also the new Survival Tent where members can set up a quick operating base. The Survival Tent comes with a Stash, Sleeping Bag, Scrapbox, Cooking Station, and even an “instrument” to help players wind down. Once placed, the Tent can also serve as a fast travel point in addition to your main CAMP.

Finally, there’s an icons and emotes pack that are unique to members too!

ICONS & EMOTES PACK

Fallout76 Fallout1st Emotes

For those wondering, if you become a member, you need to claim the Ranger Armor outfit, icons and emotes before unsubscribing. If you do this, you’ll still have access to the items even if you’re not a member.

Well, there you have it. Are you interested in becoming a Fallout 1st member or is Bethesda fooling themselves that people would be interested? Let us know your thoughts below.

Don’t forget to check out the changelog in today’s patch!

Watch All 18 Modern Warfare Operator Intros Here, “Key” Found Alongside COD Points in Game

With people already having access to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it’s a given that we’ll see more stuff from the game before it’s official release on October 25. In case you didn’t know, Modern Warfare will feature Operators rather than Specialists this time, and these Operators won’t have any special abilities, but are rather there for further customization. One of these customization options are the Modern Warfare Operator intros, which you can watch all 18 of below!

All 18 Operator Introduction Sequences
byu/Senescallo inmodernwarfare

Again, these Operators are just skins for characters with each one having their own dialogue, voice overs and such. They won’t affect gameplay in any way at all.

In addition to the Modern Warfare Operator intros, it seems the game will feature a “key” system of some sort, which for now, we don’t know what it’s for. This was unearthed by Reddit user Senescallo, who’s also the one who posted the video for the Operator intros.

There’s no indication what this COD key is for, and people on the Modern Warfare subreddit are pointing that it could be for loot boxes or something similar that might be introduced down the line. That said, Infinity Ward has mentioned that the game won’t feature loot boxes, so this could be for something else entirely.

Stay tuned for more Modern Warfare coverage here on MP1st as we’re just days away from the game launching.

Battlefield 5 Chapter 5 Release Date Announced With New Trailer, Wake Island Confirmed & Full Details

Earlier this week, DICE teased Battlefield 5’s Chapter 5: War in the Pacific with a teaser, with the trailer dropping later this week.  That day is now! Not only that, but we also know the Battlefield 5 Chapter 5 release date, what maps are included and more.

The Battlefield 5 Chapter 5 release date has been set for October 31, and before diving in, check out the trailer below first.

The first two nostalgic maps being released in Chapter 5 are Iwo Jima and Pacific Storm. Iwo Jima is a highly dynamic map that has the U.S. and Japanese forces engaged in a beach landing invasion in an all-or-nothing clash across wide-open black beaches and close-range environments. Providing more water-based combat, the Pacific Storm map takes players through treacherous weather on a set of islands as they must secure control points using boats, tanks, or aircraft.

Battlefield V Chapter 5: War in the Pacific includes:

  • New maps: Iwo Jima, Pacific Storm, and, coming in December, Wake Island.
  • New factions: The U.S. and Japan.
  • New weapons including the M1 Garand and M1919A6.
  • New vehicles including the M4 Sherman tank and the F4U Corsair plane.
  • New stationary weapons.
  • New gadgets like the Katana and Flamethrower Battle Pickups.
  • New Chapter Rewards including weapons, soldier sets, weapon skins, and melee weapons.

Aside from that, there are new Battle Pick Ups included as well which are the katana and the M2 Flamethrower.

TWO NEW BATTLE PICKUPS

The previously mentioned katana is a Battle Pickup, meaning it needs to be found on the battlefield to be equipped. Both factions can use this time-honored melee weapon when the action gets close and personal. Chapter 5’s other Battle Pickup is the M2 Flamethrower, and its man-portable backpack design will make you highly effective against groups of enemy infantry.

As for fan-favorite Wake Island, which we know is coming based on datamined info, it’s coming sometime in December, though there’s no definite date yet.

Quests and Events

  • Public Events: The cooldown timer between the start of one Public Event to the start of the next has been significantly reduced.
    • Developer Note: We agree with community feedback that our initial implementation of the Public Event cooldown timer was too conservative. Since events vary greatly in length and difficulty, we cannot predict exactly how long this timer will last in all cases. However, you should notice Public Events starting around twice as often after today’s update.

User Interface

  • Adjustable Menu Music: A new “Menu Music” slider has been added to the Sound settings menu, which can be adjusted to raise or lower the music volume on the Main Menu and in the Atomic Shop.

Happy Halloween, Candidates!

    • Rewards include Jack o’ Lantern and Bat themed weapon and armor paints, and Glowing Skeleton Outfit, so start racking up Overseer XP to claim them while they’re available.
    • The limited time Morgantown challenges, which awarded VTU-themed cosmetics, are no longer available following today’s update.
  • A More Festive Vault 51: ZAX has made Vault 51 even more BOO!-tiful by scaring up lots of new creepy Halloween décor that Candidates can enjoy while waiting for a match to begin.

Color Coded Item Rarities

  • Items you find during your Nuclear Winter matches are now color-coded in the menus based on their rarity to help you better gauge their effectiveness at a glance.
    • Rarity colors will appear in item names and icons in crates, transfer menus, and the radial favorites menu.
    • Item colors from common to very rare are as follows: White, green, blue, purple, and orange.
  • Item rarity colors are enabled by default and can toggled on or off using the new “Show Item Rarity Colors” option in the Display Settings menu.

Massive List of WWE 2K20 Issues Found by Players Just Hours After Game’s Release – Here’s Each One

With a lot of sports or sports-like games getting yearly releases, it’s hard to sometimes justify how some games are different from the previous year’s iteration. Well, that doesn’t seem to be a problem with WWE 2K20, though not in a good way, as a lot of WWE 2K20 issues are apparently making the game a chore to play for gamers.

Over on Reddit, user u/DazedRabbit have painstakingly compiled a lost of the known WWE 2K20 issues players have found in just the first few hours of the game’s release! Check out the full list below (used with permission).

Here is just a list of some of the problems with the game in no particular order:

If that wasn’t enough, the user also lists some of the issues that has plagued the franchise over the years that are still present in this year’s version!

The chances that there are more WWE 2K20 issues and bugs that have yet to be found are highly likely, as this is just from the first 12 hours of the game’s availability.

Plant vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Review – Planting Time

PopCap Games is back once again with another iteration in the Plant vs. Zombies Garden Warfare franchise, but does this one bear fruit or just a rotten apple at its core? Read on for our PvZ Battle for Neighborville review!

If you’ve played any of the last two Plant vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare titles, then you can expect more of the same. Whether that’s good or not is entirely up to the user, but as for me, I thoroughly enjoyed what PvZ: Battle for Neighborville had to offer in the gameplay side of things. In total, the game boasts 20 classes, 10 for each faction (Plant, Zombies).

As with the previous entry, every character (most are returning) is unique and has their own set of skills and upgrades. These can all be quickly earned by completing quests lines and doing some PvP matches, among other activities. As for how these classes play, they are all divided into three specialists; Attacker, Defender, and Support.  Each specialist has its uses for specific situations, and often you’ll find yourself swapping between them to help balance out the game, although this goes without saying that balance may be one of the tricky components for the devs as we found some classes to be superior to others.

All the classes can be used in either mode, PvE and PvP. PvE is where I spent the majority of my game time as I enjoyed running questlines in their newly introduced hub worlds. There are two sets of campaign missions, one for Plants and the other for Zombies, and all the questlines are extremely fun and have mini bosses and even main bosses tied to them. Tons of activities to do along with collectibles to play with friends online or locally with split-screen; either way, you’ll have endless fun with the campaign. The only downside is despite being able to play solo, you are required to have an internet connection at all times. As for the PvP, I mentioned, balancing is going to be a real test for the developers. Currently, they feel dragged on due to the high time to kill rate, which isn’t helped much by the newer classes. We certainly notice players are quick to lock in Night Cap (Mushroom Ninja) as the character is rather fast and small, which is hard for people to deal with. In the least, a few tweaks here and there and the competitive side of things will be worth the play.

Frostbite Being Pushed to Different Limits

I think this may be my most favorite use of the Frostbite 3 engine out of any games to use it yet. PopCap has done some remarkably beautiful work with colors and artistic direction, giving us one of the most cleanest Frostbite looks to date.  Where other developers (DICE, BioWare, etc.) aim to produce eye dropping photorealistic visuals, PopCap seeks to take a more straightforward, cartoonish route and that in turn shows a very different side to the engine

I’m not one to like the cartoon-y direction some games go with, but with PvZ, it’s all so pleasant to watch. There isn’t a single color on that isn’t used as the world offers a luxurious, beautiful look. From dense vegetated filled towns, to cool breezy beaches, whatever and where ever you’ll surely enjoy what the world has to offer. This is all complemented by the very animated characters that are just a delight to meet, be whether they are a friend or foe. The only complaint is that there are texture pop-ins, more noticeably during co-op sessions. It can get pretty bad as textures along with other details begin to populate right in front of you, hopefully, an issue that gets addressed later.

On the bright side of things, the game does boast an extensive collection of cosmetics and unlockables, all of which can be bought with the in-game currency. Changing the look on any of the playable characters gives them even more of a personality, and the great thing is there are no purchasable currency options. Yea, it’s a sad thing to mention, but with how games are today and seeing that this is a title by EA, it’s nice to see.

Overall if you are looking for something quick and fun, Plant vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville ain’t a wrong choice. It has a fun and engaging story accompanied by some beautiful visuals. Collectibles will surely keep you busy for a long while, along with the PvP mode, despite some balancing issues. Sure it’s not pushing the series to whole new heights by being more of the same, but fans in the least can appreciate, and we welcome it in our collection of games.

Score 8/10

Pros

  • Beautiful visuals
  • A fun story with great characters
  • Tons of collectibles
  • No microtransactions (yet)
  • Plenty of fun quest lines to keep you busy
  • Split-screen!

Cons

  • Always online
  • Texture pop-ins issue
  • PvP balancing, Time-to-kill also high.
