EA Explains Why Next Battlefield Game Is Skipping a Year, Says It Will Be “Driven Around Live Service”

In case you didn’t catch it, yesterday, EA confirmed that the next Battlefield game will be out in fiscal year 2022, which is surprising to most people given we expect a new Battlefield game every two years. (give or take).

Today, in EA’s quarterly earnings call, the publisher was asked why the next Battlefield game is “skipping a year,” and what’s the reasoning behind it.

Stephen Ju (Credit Suisse):I’m (sic) just wanted to dig in a little bit more in terms of the decision making process that went into Battlefield skipping a year here. So – and I was wondering whether this is a conscientious decision to shift the direction of the franchise or is this more of a resource constraint decision? And should we still be thinking about those franchise or something that is still a two year or maybe even a three year cycle release or maybe more like a perpetual service like what you may have been intending to do with Anthem. Thanks.

Thankfully, EA CEO Andrew Wilson wasn’t going to shy away from answering it, and his reply essentially boils down to: the publisher is banking on Apex Legends, and they want more next-gen consoles (PS5, next Xbox) to be in homes before launching the next Battlefield game.

Good question. So, still that resource constraints, I’ll say that up front, but it was a very thought through decision for us and there was a few factors that came into play. And the first is that we still see a burgeoning opportunity with Battlefield V. And as I talked about in the prepared remarks, we’re about to launch a whole new theater of wall with the Pacific theater and the team is still really thinking about, how they can continue to drive that service on a going forward basis. So, we think there’s opportunity still inside the Battlefield V experience, as it was built as a bite large service from the beginning.

The second is we now effectively have an annualized shooter Apex Legends and we see tremendous growth opportunity that can continue to engage, as we talked about in the prepared remarks, now over 70 million players. And as Blake talked about, we have opportunity to take that into other regions and to other platforms. And we think is a tremendous growth opportunity on that and want to make sure that we give that the time that it deserves.

And then third, as we thought about building for the next Battlefield. Battlefield has always been cutting edge, leading edge, both in terms of visual fidelity, and in gameplay and in multiplayer play. And as a team really began working against that. It became a parent to us that, launching into the next gen platforms was going to offer tremendous opportunity for innovation. But we really wanted to give the install base some opportunity to grow. And believe that in combination with the first three things I talked about launching battlefield in FY ‘22 is a really strong move for us and presents us with an opportunity for strong two years of growth. – Andrew Wilson, EA CEO

Now, for those not happy with how Battlefield 5 has focused on the “live services” part of post-launch support (Tides of War), well, the next Battlefield game will be built with the same idea in mind, as confirmed by Wilson.

In terms of the overall franchise direction, I don’t think you should read into this a dramatic change in franchise direction other than it will be driven around live service as the nature of our industry now. It will be cutting edge. It will be high fidelity. It will be doing things in the context of multi-play and social play and competition that Battlefields to this point have not done. And we do believe it will be a really, really exciting title in FY ‘22. Andrew Wilson, EA CEO

As a Battlefield fan, it’s a bummer that we won’t see a new entry in the franchise next year. But if this means we’ll get a better overall game, though? Yeah, I’m all for it. Oh, and let’s hope this new Battlefield game is set in modern times, yeah?

Do you agree with Wilson’s explanation and are you happy that it’ll once again focus on a live services business model?

DayZ Update 1.06 Patch Notes and Client Now Out, PS4 Crashes Being Worked On

Update #2 (December 3, 2019): For those looking for the DayZ update 1.07 patch notes on PS4 (this shows as DayZ update 1.06 on PC), then check ’em out here.

Update (November 13, 2019): If you’re looking for the DayZ update 1.06 Experimental patch notes for PC, click here.

Bohemia Interactive has released a new DayZ update on PS4, and it’s live now! While I’d like to say that this latest DayZ patch has fixed the crashing issues on PS4, sadly, that’s not the case just yet. This patch does contain fixes though. Check out the full DayZ update 1.06 notes below.

DayZ update 1.06 notes:

We released an update that aims to mitigate the crashes affecting some PlayStation 4 players.

Tweaked

  • Memory distribution on PS4

Changed

  • Updated the texture streaming system to be more resilient against texture allocation failures
  • Applied compression to several textures

As for the crashing issues on the platform, Bohemia states that they are “aware” of the crashes happening on the PS4 since the release of update 1.05 and that they are working on resolving this issue. Unfortunately, the studio hasn’t found the “roots” of these GPU-related crashes just yet, and can’t reliably reproduce it.

If you can help, make sure to offer feedback via the game’s official Twitter, or on the official forums.

Microsoft’s Xbox Financial Decline Points to Changing Console Era

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced its fiscal first-quarter 2020 financial results. While the company enjoyed another bumper period where analyst predictions were smashed, there was some bad news. Specifically, Microsoft’s gaming division led by the Xbox One console saw a significant slump that points to the end of an era.

Microsoft announced its gaming revenue declined 7% year-on-year over the last three months. Importantly, the drop seems to point to the end of the current generation of console gaming. Still, despite having a plethora of entertainment options like music streaming, casino online services, social media, and streaming services like Netflix, the future of Xbox remains bright.

So, Microsoft will not be happy about posting a 7% year-on-year drop in its gaming revenue, the company is looking to the future. In terms of specific numbers, Microsoft’s gaming division drew $2.542 billion in revenue, compared to $2.738 billion in Q1 2020.

Luckily, this decline is explainable as we are now entering the final stages of the 8th generation of the console market. Xbox One (and indeed the PlayStation 4) is nearing the end of the cycle. Microsoft has already confirmed its ninth-generation console, the Xbox Scarlett, with a 2020 launch date in mind.

With a new generation around the corner, it makes sense that most gamers are willing to wait a year for the Scarlett or PlayStation 5 to arrive. Furthermore, and perhaps more importantly, most of the people who wanted an Xbox One have already purchased one since its launch in 2013. Microsoft does not offer specific numbers of units sold, but the company said during the last quarter hardware sales fell by 34%.

Other financial details surrounding Microsoft’s gaming output suggests the above points are correct. For example, the company revealed a 0% change in content and services year-on-year. This includes products such as Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live, suggesting gamers are still interested in Xbox even if they are slowly losing interest in Xbox One.

And that leads us to the future. Microsoft will understand the market is now pushing it towards Xbox Scarlett, but the ninth generation of consoles will bring Microsoft numerous challenges:

PlayStation 5 – Leading those challenges will be old rival Sony. The Japanese giant has announced its PlayStation 5 will also arrive during holiday season 2020. Despite Xbox One shifting tens of millions of units during its lifetime, the PS4 has vastly outsold Microsoft’s console. Success in one generation does not guarantee success in the next, but there is no doubt Microsoft will be wary of Sony’s threat.

Cloud Gaming – How people play their games will change in the coming years as the advent of cloud gaming puts console-quality titles on every device. Microsoft is pushing this technology with its upcoming Project xCloud, which is currently in preview testing in the United States, United Kingdom, and South Korea.

Project xCloud will face major competition from Google Stadia, which will fully launch on November 19. Both services are likely different enough that they will be able to co-exist but expect the cloud gaming market to grow with more companies entering development in the coming years.

Watch the Epic Death Stranding Launch Trailer Here!

After being teased, the Death Stranding launch trailer has officially been released!

The trailer (which you can watch below) is edited by the game’s director, Hideo Kojima, and runs for nearly 8 minutes. This trailer includes a large chunk of fresh new scenes, and judging by some of the response it may be wise to sit this one out as it does contain quite a number of heavy spoilers.

This will be the final trailer before the November 8 release. And though it’s going to feel like a long week and a half of waiting,  the media embargo will lift this coming Friday. So expect plenty of critic reviews along with new gameplay and other details. We will also be providing some exclusive coverage here at MP1st, so be sure to check back on Friday morning for that.

Death Stranding will officially be available on November 8 for the PlayStation 4, and in case you missed the big news, the title is also slated for release on PC in the Summer of 2020.

According to the press release, Modern Warfare has already managed to sell through (sold not shipped) to the tune of $600 million in its first three days of availability! On the PS4 store front, Modern Warfare has set records as the most pre-ordered digital game on the PSN Store, and highest three-day digital sales total of all time. It has also become the #1 highest-selling PC Call of Duty game launch of all-time as well, as its sales on Battle.net saw a huge uptick compared to last year’s Black Ops 4.

Call of Duty is once again the top selling new premium game of the year, proving the enduring nature of the franchise across console, PC, mobile, and esports,In its first three days of release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare more than doubled the box office opening of Joker. — Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard’s Chief Executive Officer

Through the first three days, Modern Warfare has more total players and total hours played than any Call of Duty opening release in the last six years. More importantly, our players are having a great time playing. Congratulations to Infinity Ward and all our teams involved on an incredible game and its spectacular launch. We also want to thank the community for your incredible support. The launch of Modern Warfare is only the start. There’s much more to come. – Rob Kostich, president, Activision

Congrats, Infinity Ward and Activision! Let’s hope this means we really won’t see loot boxes for this Call of Duty game.

Next Battlefield Game Planned for Release in Fiscal Year 2022

Are you a fan of Battlefield 5? If not, and you’re looking forward to a new Battlefield game, you might be waiting a while. During EA’s quarterly earnings call, the publisher announced that the next Battlefield game is planned to be released in fiscal year 2022!

While “fiscal year 2022” doesn’t mean that the next Battlefield game will be out in 2022 (it means in its operating fiscal year, which is April 2021 to March 2022), this is still bad news for those hoping that we’ll get a new Battlefield game next year.

Targeting new innovation that will be enabled by next-gen platforms and a growing install base on the new consoles, our next Battlefield game is set for FY22.

Overall, we expect this to drive growth in net bookings and underlying profits for fiscal 2021.We will provide formal guidance on our Q4 call as usual. Growth in fiscal 2022 will be led by a new Battlefield title

Given how the PS5 and the next Xbox are both scheduled to be released next year, I don’t doubt that some shooter fans (like me) most likely counted on a new Battlefield game gracing the next-gen consoles like what EA did with Battlefield 4 and the PS4/Xbox One.

Does this mean we’ll see more content for Battlefield 5 after Chapter 5: War in the Pacific? The chances are high. Then again, we could maybe get a new Star Wars Battlefront game next year, or perhaps an entirely new shooter? Maybe Medal of Honor can make a proper comeback and not just be a VR game?

Are you surprised at this or is EA doing the right thing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

EA Games and EA Access Subscription Coming to Steam

If you’re one of the millions of PC players who use Steam and want to play EA games without using Origin, that will soon become a reality! Today, EA has announced that the publisher’s titles will soon be available on Valve’s Steam platform!

This will be in effect in full starting next spring, but the first title to take advantage of this — Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order — will happen this November 15!

In addition to EA’s games appearing on Steam, even EA Access, which is EA’s premium membership service, will also be available on the platform as well.  Check out the statements made by EA CEO Andrew Wilson, and Valve big boss Gabe Newell below straight from the press release.

This is the start of an exciting partnership with Valve that will see us innovating for PC players around the world. Through our subscription, great games and more, we’re excited to bring players in the Steam and Origin communities together with access to the best games, whenever and wherever they want to play. – Andrew Wilson, EA CEO

This is a good day for gamers. We’re excited to partner with EA to not only bring their great games and subscription service to Steam, but also to open up our communities to each other in an unprecedented way that will benefit players and developers around the world. – Gabe Newell, Valve big boss

Is this a sign that Origin is slowly being phased out? Maybe, maybe not. All I know is, this is a win for PC gamers around the world.

World War Z Update 1.09 Patch Notes and Kill It With Fire Update Now Live

As expected from Saber Interactive’s teases, a new World War Z update has been rolled out, and this major one is called “Kill It With Fire.” Console gamers will see this as World War Z update 1.09, and is at a hefty 15GB on PS4! Check out the full World War Z update 1.09 patch notes below.

World War Z update 1.09 patch notes:

New Features

  • Added a new chapter in the NY Episode
  • Added a new chapter in the Moscow Episode
  • Added Prestige Ranks that will grant players unique rewards:
    • Prestige perks
    • Unique weapon variants
    • Portrait frames
  • Added Flamethrower heavy weapon
  • Added option to enable any mutators in private lobby
  • PvP characters will now use character customization from PvE
  • Added option to play Challenge Mode offline
  • Added Halloween trinket reward for playing at least one match during Halloween week Oct 25 – Nov 5.

AI

  • Infector is now 25% more vulnerable to normal firearms
  • Fixed issue with melee sometimes not pushing back zombies in front of the player

Difficulty

  • Removed 4 Skulls (“VERY HARD”) difficulty, as it was the least played difficulty
  • HARD difficulty is slightly harder:
    • Reduced player health from 75 to 60
    • Reduced player revive limit from 3 to 2
    • Increased number of zombies by 10%
  • INSANE is slightly easier:
    • Increased player health from 25 to 30
    • Reduced Normal and Special Zombies difficulty health modifier from +100% to +75%

Perks

  • Improved random feature for all perks that have a chance to trigger. Instead of pure random, the game will use weighted random. For example, if a perk has a 25% chance to trigger, this means that it is guaranteed to trigger on the 4th try. This will result in less unlucky or lucky streaks for perks like “% chance not to use med kit when healing”.
  • “Sugar Coated” perk will now grant temporary health to the player who got healed, just as it is written in the description
  • “Second Wind” perk will now also grant 3 second masking effect on activation

UI

  • Added potential rewards display in Episode screen
  • Minor UI and localization fixes

Stability

  • Fixed several gameplay crashes

Levels

  • Fixed number of explosive charges spawning in Japan 2 level
  • Fixed some gameplay bugs that were causing inability to progress in levels

General fixes

  • Fixed issue with “Comfort Zone” mutator that was causing damage to players even if the distance conditions were met
  • Fixed issue that was launching player into the air on uneven surfaces
  • Fixed issue that was causing players to clip through geometry during vault animations
  • Fixed rare issue that was resulting in players picking up additional magazine for heavy weapons
  • Fixed issue with Molotov dealing damage directly to health instead of temporary health that was granted by Stim Pistol or other sources

PC Specific Fixes

  • Added ultra-wide resolution support in game (main menu still uses letterbox)
  • Fixed voice chat mute on PC (you need to click on player in the scoreboard to mute him)

There are two new missions with this new DLC and that’s “Dead in the Water,” where players must execute an escape after being stranded on New York’s Hudson River, and there’s “Resurrection,” which takes players to the dark tunnels of Moscow.

Given it is Halloween, there’s a Halloween trinket available as well. For the full list of new content, head on over here.

Don’t forget, while the actual files for Chapter 5: War in the Pacific are in today’s patch, the actual new content will be out this Thursday. Once it’s up, we’ll let our readers know as well as this week’s new challenges.

Battlefield 5 update 1.27 patch notes:

War in The Pacific – Starting October 31

  • Two New Maps – Pacific Storm and Iwo Jima.
  • Four New Weapons at launch – M1 Garand, Type 99 Arisaka, Type 100, and the M1919A6.
  • Deploying across the Tides of War, you’ll get your hands on the M3 Grease Gun, Nambu Type 2A, Type 97 LMG, and M1918 A2.
  • As Chapter Rewards, the Jungle Carbine and the Type 94 and Model 27 sidearms are also available for you to earn and unlock during War in The Pacific
  • New Factions: US and Japan.
  • New Battle Pickups: Katana and M2 Flamethrower.
  • New Vehicles: M4 Sherman tank, Type 97, the LVT and the Ka-Mi Light Amphibious Tanks, the Dinghy, LCPV, MB Jeep and Type 95 transport vehicle.
  • New Planes – the F4U Corsair (Fighter and Bomber variants), and the Japaneze Zero (fighter and bomber variants).
  • New Reinforcements – New Rocket Barrage Tanks – The Sherman Calliope, and the HaChi.

What’s Changed?

Weapons

  • Players are now able to inspect their primary and secondary weapons directly while playing. Simply hold down the commorose button, and press the reload button to take a look.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the smoke grenade’s visual effect to flicker.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause players to sometimes use their primary weapons as syringes during the revive animation.
  • RSC – Fixed an issue that would result in a visual problem when reloading the weapons with some specific soldier skins.
  • M1928A1 – The weapons shadow no longer looks like it has a fore-grip.
  • Fixed an uncommon bug which made it look like soldiers used an ammo pouch to gain health back, or used a health pouch to gain ammo.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the grenade launcher on the Tromboncino to be unusable if the weapon was dropped and then picked back up.
  • Flaregun Radius and TTL re-balance: Flares last longer in general, and vehicle flares cover larger areas.
  • Fixed a bug that would enable the Panzerbüchse 39 to fire multiple times in a row.
  • Fixed a bug with the ricochet tracer visual effect which made it look like it was going in the opposite direction of its original trajectory.
  • Fixed an issue where healing rates could stack between self-heal pouch and medical crate (only the highest rate will now apply).
  • Increased medical crate aura regeneration rate to 16HP/s from 12HP/s as a result of healing rates no longer stacking.
  • Improved detection of fire damage against soldiers. This will reduce situations where players can take fire damage while not being visibly close enough from the fire.
  • Increased incendiary grenade radius to 4.5m from 4m to better match the effect.
  • Increased the Incendiary grenade damage duration to 7s from 6.5s to better match the effect.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the health and ammo crates to be deployed below the ground when deployed whilst prone.

Balance Changes

We have increased the rate of fire of the Model 8 because of its inferior reload, and its magazine when compared to the RSC.

  • Increased rate of fire from 180 to 200 and from 200 to 225 with the Trigger Job specialization.

The Suomi saw another small adjustment recoil adjustment to better position it against the M1928A1:

  • Reduced vertical recoil from 0.72 to 0.69.
  • Reduced recoil pattern slightly.

The Lewis Gun has been made a bit less accurate in sustained fire to separate it more from the Bren:

  • Increased horizontal recoil from 0.45 to 0.48.

Fixed an issue that often made all fully automatic, and burst fire weapons much less accurate and predictable than intended when burst-firing.

  • Since the M1935 PG had been heavily affected by this, its horizontal recoil has been increased to offset the drastic increase of accuracy when bursting.
  • Increased horizontal recoil from 0.3 to 0.375 and from 0.225 to 0.3 when using the Ported Barrel specialization on the M1935 PG.

Additional Changes:

  • Improved the visibility of aperture sights against all backgrounds.
  • Improved the MP28 front sight, it is now thinner and easier to aim with.

Soldier

  • Fixed an issue that would cause players to slowly glide across the terrain whilst waiting to start a round.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause players to be seen playing the swimming animations whilst on the ground.
  • Fixed an issue where players could often be seen with low animation quality in high density areas.
  • Fixed an issue where it would sometimes be possible to collide with soldiers that are dead.
  • Soldier collision is now disabled as soon as the player dies, this means it will now be possible to move through players faster which will prevent cases where you can get blocked by a soldier you just killed.
  • Improvements to the bleed out state that should decrease the chance of players getting stuck in a bleed out state.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the soldier to clip with the camera when opening a door while switching weapons.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause an infinite death state if a player was roadkilled right after being revived.
  • Fixed a bug that would not trigger the temporary slow down penalty after using the bayonet charge.
  • Fixed an issue where players would be able to jump whilst charging.
  • Holding down the melee button no longer blocks the sprint and jump input.
  • Improved the vaulting animation when players are using the Revolver.
  • Fixed an issue where a soldier would sometimes get blocked whilst vaulting over medium sized obstacles.
  • Players are no longer blocked from throwing health and ammo pouches while at the same time firing a weapon at full auto. The firing will now correctly pause to throw a pouch.
  • Improvements to players that die while using a parachute – the sound will no longer cutoff if the player redeploys while parachuting, and we have removed the body falling sound effect if the player is in the air.
  • Improved soldier ragdoll behavior to decrease the risk of them getting the “hanging from the hips” bug.
  • Fixed an issue where soldiers could get stuck against collision with hard-edged assets, like for example the edge of a bridge railing.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the revived players to be in T pose when the reviver cancels the revive animation.
  • Fixed an animation bug that could sometimes cause certain soldiers to be seen moving around in T pose.
  • Fixed an exploit that would allow medics to endlessly throw medical pouches at each other.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to deploy the bipod on shallow water.
  • Improved activation consistency of the sliding functionality.
  • Added support to choose between press or double-tap to activate sliding (default is double-tap).
  • Increased Sliding cool down to 2s from 1.5s.
  • Fixed an issue where soldiers teleport to an old position when exiting a vehicle.
  • Fixed an issue where a soldier could vault through ceilings above stairs on Operation Underground.
  • Players in shallow water can be revived now.
  • Players can no longer get revived while in mid-air, which would cause players to end up under the terrain in some rare cases.

Vehicles

  • JU-88 bottom gunner now properly shows hitmarkers when doing damage.
  • Fixed a rare bug that would cause players to spawn into the world without a plane, after they had selected a plane from the deploy screen to spawn into.
  • Fixed a graphical bug that could occur if players sat in the top gunner seat in the Sturmgeschutz IV tank while firing it.
  • The Churchill MK VII top gunner turret no longer looks broken if the player uses the cover function from certain directions.
  • Improved the animation from third person when a player switches seats in an airplane.
  • Mounted and Coaxial Machine Guns have had a significant redesign. These weapons how have a converging accuracy model, with an initial period of inaccuracy that improves with shooting until the weapon is fully accurate. The accuracy potential of all these machine guns is higher now than it was previously, but only after firing a few rounds. Overheat has also been adjusted to balance with this new technique, allowing for more forgiving instances of overheat, especially when firing in long, suppressive bursts. Additionally, the velocity of rounds fired from the machine guns have been increased, making hitting targets of opportunity and moving targets easier, however the damage of these weapons has been reduced at long range, to prevent overly effective instances of sniping with the MG. You should now find MGs easier to use and hit targets once they are zeroed in, but targets at long range will have more time to react before they are killed outright.
  • Reduced the rate of fire for bomb loads of 4 or more. The high rate of fire of these bomb loads allowed a player to drop all their bombs effectively in one area, negating accuracy and making the choice between different bomb types poor. In general, there is a longer delay between bomb drops but bombs generally have more effective blast radius, especially against infantry.
  • Increased the default turret speeds and adjusted the acceleration and deceleration curves to be more responsive.
  • Reduced the impact of disabled turrets on the speed of the turret.
  • Improved the accuracy of the bomb sight in both First and Third person cameras. The biggest improvement is in the First Person View.
  • Holding the fire button while dropping multiple bombs will now update the target position for each bomb dropped.
  • Refactored Ammo Counts for vehicles with unlimited magazines so they show the ammo count instead of the total ammo. This fixes stationary AT guns showing 0 ammo when they actually have unlimited ammo.
  • Reduced the overheat and adjusted the explosive damage of the AA for consistent hit damage against bombers and fighters. Players should now get consistent damage against all aircraft types, and AA can now destroy an aircraft flying directly at the AA without overheating. Aircraft will need to be crafty and dodge and evade the more stationary AA, rather than simply absorbing the damage as they could do previously.
  • Increased shockwave time so that planes have a larger chance to escape the shockwave of low dropped bombs.
  • Fixed an exploit that would cause the Bleinheim passenger guns to not overheat.
  • Fixed a visual bug with the Mosquito 6PDR guns reload.
  • Improved the Kubelwagens steering animation and touched up the handling.

Maps and Modes

  • Arras – Squad Conquest – Ammo crate near capture point A is no longer rotated backwards.
  • Arras – Breakthrough – Fixed some spawn points that were placed out of the combat area.
  • Al-Sundan – The teams no longer have swapped reinforcement vehicles.
  • Al-Sundan – Windows on certain buildings are now vaultable.
  • Al-Sundan -Fixed many issues that would allow players to look through the geometry of certain rocks or even clip into them.
  • Al-Sundan – Breakthrough – Fixed an issue that would cause issues with spawning reinforcement vehicles in sectors 3 and 4.
  • Al-Sundan – Added collision to the crates located at Capture point C.
  • Devastation – Players can no longer get stuck near the bookcase at Flag C by falling behind it from above.
  • Devastation – More fixes for an issue that in some cases enables players to see through the geometry when certain walls have been destroyed near the altar area.
  • Devastation – Fixed the Health resupply station near Flag E which was missing it’s interaction prompt.
  • Fjell 652 – Squad Conquest – Fixed an exploit that would allow players to get on top of a mountain.

  • Hamada – Improved the terrain on the side of the cliffs close to Flag F that could look a bit corrupt while flying in an airplane.
  • Marita – Fixed an exploit that would allow players to get on top of the mountain at the edge of the map.
  • Marita – Fixed an issue with the mountain wall near the bridge which players could get into.
  • Marita – Conquest – Improved the spawn points which in some cases would cause players to spawn too far away from the flags.
  • Marita – Certain tree branches no longer stop bullets.
  • Narvik – Breakthrough – Fixes for Vehicle Reinforcement Spawns that were out of the combat area.
  • Narvik – Fixed an issue with a backdrop artillery effect which would look like a streak of fire moving quickly across the entire map.
  • Narvik – Breakthrough – Fixed the floating resupply station in the last sector.
  • Panzerstorm – Fixed some issues with tank spawns being blocked which would result in “The deploy point you selected is no longer available”.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Launch Sales Numbers Beat Black Ops 4 in UK

The UK Charts have been revealed today, and it seems Infinity Ward’s latest has managed to beat last year’s Call of Duty game! Modern Warfare launch sales numbers in the UK for the first week trump Black Ops 4’s. In terms of physical sales, Modern Warfare has sold 39 percent more units than Black Ops 4 during its launch week.

That said though, the sales are not as high as Call of Duty: WWII, but if digital sales are included, the two games’ (Modern Warfare and WWII) are a lot closer. For the platform breakdown, 62 percent of the game’s sales are on PS4, while 38 percent are for the Xbox One.

Here is the UKIE/GfK Top Ten for the week ending October 26:

Last Week This Week Title
New Release 1 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
1 2 FIFA 20
New Entry 3 WWE 2K20
New Entry 4 The Outer Worlds
New Entry 5 MediEvil
2 6 Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
3 7 Ring Fit Adventure
4 8 Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint
6 9 Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
7 10 Minecraft (Switch Edition)

We’re fully expecting a press release from Activision to be sent out this week announcing how Modern Warfare sold an insane amount of copies, or how it netted a ton of money for the publisher.

We’ll be pushing out our Modern Warfare review soon, so make sure to keep an eye out for that.

Do you think Modern Warfare will be the best selling Call of Duty this gen or the odds of that happening are slim? Let us know in the comments.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Future Plans Outlined

By now, it’s safe to say that Ghost Recon Breakpoint didn’t really set the gaming world on fire as much as Ubisoft would have liked. However, Ubisoft being Ubisoft, the game will see a consistent flood of post-game work and content. Ubisoft has today revealed the Ghost Recon Breakpoint future plans.

In a new post on the game’s website, Ubisoft mentions how they are listening to the community, and they’ve outlined the Ghost Recon Breakpoint future plans and where the dev team plans to bring the game.

1. Technical State of the Game

Our first priority is to improve the technical state of the game. We know many players had a difficult time with game bugs and unexpected stability issues at launch and we are making every effort possible to address these issues as soon as we can.

With Title Update 1.0.2, released on October 15, our team made numerous improvements to the game, focusing on the most pressing issues that could be addressed in this timeframe. We are working on further improvements that will be coming soon with TU1.0.3 in mid-November, including fixes on the Drone deployment, on changing the fire rate, on NVGs blocking crosshairs and on the Mission Completion notification pop-up.

Title Update 1.0.3.1, coming around end-November, will include further improvements and updates on the most pressing community feedback.

2. Post-Launch Content

As we focus on improving the game, we also want you to know that our commitment does not stop here. We are dedicated to supporting Ghost Recon Breakpoint in the long term with plenty of post-launch content and special events to keep the world constantly growing and evolving.

You will get your first taste with Project Titan, our first ever Raid, which will release in December, and The Terminator Live Event, which will release shortly after that. In order to make sure we remain agile and flexible, we’ll come back to you with more details including specific release dates at a later stage.

3. In-game Economy

We also heard the criticism regarding the in-game economy. That is why we are currently working to make adjustments according to players’ feedback in the next few weeks, making the experience for players more comfortable.

4. AI Teammates

We announced at E3 2019 that AI Teammates would come back to Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and they will. Ghost Recon Breakpoint was designed from the ground up to be enjoyed in co-op up to four players, and as an innovative pure solo experience. As such, adding back AI Teammates to the game is a major undertaking that will still require time. We will update you as we progress towards their release.

5. Freedom of Choice

Finally, we are aware that some of the design choices made have caused polarized reactions and discussions regarding the direction taken by the Ghost Recon franchise.

We are happy to see players embracing the new elements of the game, but we also understand that there are areas of improvements. Some of you would like our new survival mechanics to have more impact on your experience, while others dislike the tiered loot progression we have added.

One of the key elements of our vision for Ghost Recon is to immerse our fans in a gritty and authentic military experience.

In line with this vision and the feedback we received, we are working on a more radical and immersive version of Ghost Recon Breakpoint. We also want to let you tailor your experience to the way you want to enjoy the game, since freedom of choice has always been part of the Ghost Recon DNA.

It’s still too early to share details on how that will work exactly, but it is top of mind for the team and we will keep you updated as we progress.

6. Conclusion

We know that we have a lot of work ahead of us to get the game where you want it to be, and that not everything will be addressed or released as fast as all of you might like. Big changes can take time to make sure they are done right, but we still want to be as transparent as we can about the current state of development.

In order to ensure we are tackling the right topics at the right time, we are also looking into releasing a Community Survey that will help you to express yourself about the future content and improvements of the game.

To all of those who have jumped in and to those who are thinking about joining us – please continue to share you feedback. This is only the beginning and we look forward to the future together.

Will Ubisoft succeed? Your guess is as good as mine, but at the very least, they are doing something about it which is good, right?

Report: Overwatch 2 to Be Revealed This Week, Will Feature PvE, New Mode & More

If you’re still playing Overwatch and wondered whether we’ll see a sequel to it anytime soon, apparently, the answer to that is a resounding yes. Allegedly, Blizzard will unveil Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon this week, and this time, the game will feature PvE (players vs enemies)!

According to documents obtained by ESPN, the sequel will officially be called Overwatch 2, and it will feature a new logo, new game modes, new maps, at least one new hero, and the aforementioned PvE mode. ESPN says that hero skills and in-game items are coming to Overwatch 2 PvE, and one of the missions will be a four-player story experience set in Rio de Janeiro.

Furthermore, a new mode called “Push” will be revealed at BlizzCon alongside Assault, Control, Escort, and Hybrid. The Push game mode will be set on a new map based in Toronto according to ESPN’s leaked documents. For those attending BlizzCon, it’s mentioned that both the new Push game mode and the PvE mode will be playable at the event.

Bear in mind, all these are rumors until confirmed or denied by Blizzard Entertainment, but given with leaks like these, chances are, it’s the real deal. We’ll know for sure this coming weekend when BlizzCon keeps off this Friday in California.
