Apex Legends Upcoming Changes Will Crack Down on Piggy-Back Players

Respawn Entertainment has been constantly commended for their commitment to improve the overall game experience. To prove this point, the developer has recently announced some quality of life improvements for their current game. The Apex Legends upcoming changes will actually focus on players who do not bother to help their team at all.

On the Apex Legends subreddit, Respawn Entertainment briefly touched on the subject of piggy-backing. For those unaware, the name refers to when a player drafts off other players in the squad to carry them to a good position and level up faster but doesn’t actually participate in the match. In other words, the piggy-backer expects the entire team to do their work for them without doing anything for the team in return.

Unfortunately, it seems like Respawn has been getting a few complaints regarding this issue. The Reddit post states that “We had been seeing some feedback from players around this and have been doing some internal investigations looking at game data to understand how many of the matches being played are affected by this behavior.”

In order to fix this issue, the Apex Legends upcoming changes will actually have some way to detect piggy-backing behavior. Players who exhibit piggy-backing behavior will be punished with a temporary ban. Furthermore, players who continue to exhibit this behavior can actually be subject to a permanent ban.

Respawn Entertainment has also talked about a few more Apex Legends upcoming changes. One of them is related to improvements over the audio design. “Good progress has been made but we’ll still have work to do. We appreciate everyone that’s been providing clips to illustrate the issue.”

Additionally, the developer has announced that they will attempt to fix several issues with Hit Registration and the Slow-Mo at the start of the match. Finally, the team will also fix a Fortified bug that came up during the balance changes made to Gibraltar and Caustic.

Apex Legends is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A mobile version of the game has been confirmed to be in development by Electronic Arts. You can also check out a hilarious story about a cheater in the game who got constantly banned.

Gears 5 Release Date and Cover Art Have Been Possibly Leaked

It’s no secret that Gears 5 has been hyped up as one of the most anticipated game projects to date. It’s not surprising to have many fans tirelessly seeking any and all kinds of updates and information regarding the game. Unfortunately, no details about Gears 5 release date or anything of the sort will be revealed until E3 2019.

However, that hasn’t stopped people from searching information everywhere. With this in mind, it seems like the Gears 5 release date and cover art have been accidentally leaked. The information seems to come from a Taiwanese rating agency. According to the listing, the game is headed towards a September 10 release on Xbox One and Xbox One X.

Not only that, but the game’s cover art has also been revealed. The box art seems to feature the current lead character Kait Diaz. Alongside her, we can see important characters from the Gears of War series like Marcus Fenix and Queen Myrrah. Furthermore, the cover art seems to feature multiple upgrades for Xbox One X owners like 4K and HDR support.

Could the Gears 5 box art have been leaked?

Of course, it’s important to note that this isn’t the only piece of information that was acquired by Generacion Xbox. The game’s September 10, 2019 release was revealed by the Taiwanese agency. Considering this, the long-awaited project made by The Coalition is closer to being released than expected. The document below shows the listing with the release date.

Generacion Xbox discovered the Taiwanese listing

However, we should remark the fact that this could be a very well-constructed fake piece of evidence. As such, we suggest anyone willing to believe this rumor/leak to take it with a grain of salt. There are no valid listings for the game itself anywhere else. Not only that, but the box art itself looks rather flimsy and the title “Gears 5” could very well be a placeholder.

Is Virtual Reality Still the Next Big Thing in Gaming?

Investors often look towards technology when looking for the next big investment opportunity. Getting a tech investment right can reap huge rewards, but identifying which technology will go global is not easy.

The benefit of hindsight

With hindsight, everyone would have made an investment in the social media platforms that we all use today, but at the time, there were plenty of other competitors in the marketplace. And the ones that dominated, such as Facebook and Twitter, were latecomers to the party.

But technology trends can disappear as fast as they arrive, a factor that must also be taken into considerations by investors. That is why tech investors like to strike while the iron is hot.

The booming gaming industry

The gaming industry is one of the fastest moving and most popular technology sectors. It is estimated that the industry will generate $174 billion in revenue by 2021, so investors will be keeping their eye out for the next big thing.

Besides these core similarities, there are also thematic parallels as well. For instance, licensed properties including Game of Thrones and Family Guy have both spawned slot titles, such as those featured at Magical Vegas, as well as ‘traditional’ video games such as Game of Thrones: A Telltale Series and Family Guy: Another Freakin’ Mobile Game, which are available for console and mobile.

For anyone looking to invest in gaming technology, finding a product or service that can be adopted across all types of gaming on all platforms is the key. And that is where virtual reality comes in.

Virtual reality or total fantasy?

The concept of virtual reality has been kicking around for longer than many might imagine, but it is finally reaching the point where it will be scalable and affordable for home gaming. And there have already been clear suggestions it could have popular appeal across many gaming sectors, including traditional gaming, social gaming, casino gaming and eSports.

Early investments in the technology have produced a few false starts due to prohibitively expensive hardware, but there is still a feeling that the tech is about to take off. This has been reinforced by the success of many virtual reality gaming centres that have popped up in major cities around the world.

Investors were sparked into action when Facebook purchased VR developer Oculus for $2 billion in 2014. But since then, things have slowed down. The main issues have been the comfort, cost and usability of the headsets. This, combined with a customer base that demands a genuine reason to be wowed before swarming to the stores, has caused some investors to hold back.

Timing is everything

There is no doubt that VR will have its day, but there are big questions marks over when that day will come. But with 5G technology about to be rolled out, the technology should get another boost. What’s more, developers are starting to explore how VR can be used in training, education and corporate environments.

It should be remembered that even the internet stalled in its early years as users became frustrated with the speed, fiddling interfaces and lack of practical applications. With this in mind, we certainly should not be dismissive of emerging technology and its potential as an investment.

If you’re curious what differences and new features Ubisoft will introduce in Ghost Recon Breakpoint from Wildlands, you’re not the only one. Thanks Reddit user WolverineKuzuri93, we have a short list of the confirmed Ghost Recon Breakpoint features that will be in the game based on the livestream reveal.

  • ~ Increased variety of military vehicles
  • ~ Squad interactions such as carrying downed allies

  • ~ New gadgets such as smoke cover and synced shot drones
  • ~ Improved weapon aiming camera (automatic peaking etc.)
  • ~ A melee slot and customization for melee weapons
  • ~ Customization for vehicles
  • ~ Needing to eat and stay hydrated to keep stats high
  • ~ Changing time of day from the Bivouac

Not a bad list, no? It definitely shakes up the Ghost Recon formula somewhat. Now on to the bad news. Over on Twitter, the official Breakpoint account confirmed that Ghost Recon Breakpoint offline play is NOT allowed. Nope, the game requires a ‘net connection to play just like The Division, and Rainbow Six Siege, which are both Ubisoft titles.

Make sure to check out this 13-minute video of Breakpoint gameplay to see what you’ll get to experience come this October 4. Those who’re interested in pre-ordering, here are the different editions of the game, with the higher tiered ones letting you play it early.

Report: Battlefield 5 and A Way Out Joining EA Access Vault

With EA announcing that EA Access will finally be available on PS4 starting this July, it seems some of the EA Access PS4 games entering the vault have been inadvertently leaked ahead of time.

Going over to the newly created EA Access PS4 portion of EA’s website, a(still-unlisted) trailer is embedded where it shows a list of  the games that are part of the vault for EA Access, and it shows Battlefield 5 and A Way Out! Just to confirm, the EA Access PS4 page wasn’t live a few days ago (correction: it was), and this is a new part of EA’s website.

Watch it for yourself and see the images of the vault below.

You can clearly see Battlefield 5 being the first game shown, while A Way Out flashes super quick as part of the list of games included in the EA Access vault. If that’s not enough, it’s even listed in the “library” section of games included in the vault.

Is this EA’s way of “making it up” to PS4 owners who will gain access to the service just this coming July compared to the other platforms which got access to it years ago?

Mind you, nothing’s been officially announced yet, so things could change.

We’ve reached out to EA for a comment and will update the post if we get a response.

Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled Customization Trailer Features Both Kart and Racer Cosmetic Changes

With Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, developer Beenox isn’t just remaking the fan-favorite kart racer, but they’re also adding new features as well. One of these new features is customization of both kart and racer for players! Check out the Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled customization trailer below.

According to the press release, players will be able to mix and match kart bodies, wheels, paint jobs, stickers and even add decals to karts. Racers can also be customized too. Character skins will be added to the game, which will allow players to make their own kart and racer combo. Lastly, there will even be unique podium animations available which will make celebrating victories even more unique. Players will be able to earn customization items by playing through the game’s Adventure Mode, and also by collecting in-game Wumpa Coins.

I gather, kart, racer and animations are how Activision will introduce microtransactions into the game, which I’m kind of fine with given they’re cosmetics only.

Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled will race out onto the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC this June 21.

Battlefield 5 Firestorm New Locations and Gold Tier Weapon Hitting the Game This Month

While Battlefield 5’s Firestorm map might be the biggest game map DICE has ever built, that might not be enough for some. Now, if you’re one of the players that feel that way, rejoice! Battlefield 5 Firestorm new locations are coming to the mode before the month’s out!

As part of EA’s latest update regarding Trial By Fire FAQ, it’s mentioned there (without fanfare for some reason), that on May 21, players will gain access to three new Battlefield 5 Firestorm locations! These are Watchtowers, the Blue Forest, and the Excavation Site! Here’s a screenshot of it in case it gets pulled or altered:

Not content with that? Players will also get the Boys AT Rifle — which we’ve posted early gameplay footage of — in Firestorm too! The Boys AT Rifle will be the first “Gold Tier” weapon introduced in Firestorm, and as one can expect, it’ll be insanely powerful!

You’ll also be able to locate even more powerful loot in Firestorm, as we’re introducing the first Gold Tier weapons – including the Boys AT Rifle. Nicknamed the “elephant gun,” this rifle has some serious stopping power and will give players the means to attack enemy vehicles. Gold Tier weapons can be found in safes, lockers, and supply drops – if you’re lucky.

Given the info above, I suspect we’ll be getting a new Battlefield 5 patch on May 21 or near it. Once these locations and Gold Tier weapon are available, we’ll let our readers know.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne New Monsters Listed, Here’s Each One in Action

With Capcom announcing the release date for Monster Hunter World Iceborne, not only did we get a date, but we also got a ton of new info regarding new gameplay features, rank and more. Possibly one of the most important new stuff that got confirmed? It’s the list of the Monster Hunter World Iceborne new monsters!

In a press release, Capcom listed the Monster Hunter World Iceborne new monsters entering the game on September 6! Below, you’ll see gameplay of each along with the official monster description from Capcom. Note that this list includes the new monsters that can be seen in Hoarfrost Reach, as well as the new monsters that can be seen in familiar (old) places.

Mysterious Elder Dragon – Velkhana – An elder dragon with the power to freeze all. According to ancient legend, it can freely control the cold, and unleash an icy blast of breath.

Hoarsfrost Reach Monsters:

Banbaro – A monster with two giant horns, like a running brick wall. It charges at threats while digging its massive
horns in the ground, sometimes picking up entire trees in its path.

Beotodus – A piscine wyvern that uses the sharp fin on its head to cut through the frozen soil, swimming freely through
the snow. Can often be seen hurling snow at its prey using its leg fins.

New monsters that can be found in familiar locales

Nargacuga – A flying wyvern covered in pitch black fur. It is extremely agile, especially on the ground, moving with explosive bursts of speed.

Obviously, the big draw here is the new Elder Dragon. Hopefully, we’ll get gameplay of that one soon.

Are you happy with the new monsters based on the gameplay we’ve seen so far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne Release Date Announced, Here’s Everything New That’s Coming

If you’re one of the millions entranced by Monster Hunter World, you’re no doubt looking forward to new monsters to slay, new items to collect, and new armor pieces to craft. Today, Capcom has announced the Monster Hunter World Iceborne release date, and it’s due on September 6 for the PS4 and Xbox One and will cost $39.99! PC will get it sometime this winter.

Before we dive in any further, check out the gameplay reveal trailer first to see what kind of new monsters we’ll be facing.

If you’re wondering why the price is this high for an expansion, it’s because Iceborne is more than that. There’s a new story, new monsters, gameplay additions and more.

New Story

The story of Iceborne starts after the conclusion of the events tied to the end of World with the Elder Crossing phenomena, as the Research Commission begins to notice very unusual Legiana behavior in the New World. This new mystery is the catalyst for a whole new story chapter that leads us to a brand new locale, and the discovery that the legendary Velkhana is way more than just a myth…

Aside from a new story, Hunters will also gain access to a new Hunter Rank called “Master Rank.”

New Rank: Master Rank

A new rank named “Master Rank” will be added

above the existing low and high ranks. New materials

and formidable monsters are available in this rank.

Hunters will be trekking the Hoarfrost Reach, which is a new area in the New World. According to Capcom, Iceborne will offer the “largest region” in Monster Hunter World so far. Players should expect new monsters to be back as well, and even a couple of new gameplay features.

#1. The Slinger can now be used while your weapon is drawn! This will open up a variety of opportunities for dealing with monsters, setting up new powerful combo attacks, getting out of harm’s way, etc.

#2. Clutch Claw: a versatile tool that lets you grapple onto monsters at a moment’s notice. From there you’ll also be able to unleash devastating attacks or even directly guide the monster momentarily.

Here’s a peek at the new gameplay moves in action:

Capcom has also mentioned how new moves for every weapon type has been added as well.

Lastly, if you want to play the Iceborne expansion, you MUST have completed the main monster Hunter World story up to Hunter Rank 17. If you haven’t bought Monster Hunter World yet, Capcom has a bundle for new players. Of course, those who own it already can get the expansion separately.

If you do not own Monster Hunter: World, you can get…

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition for $59.99, a physical version for PS4 and Xbox One that contains both World and the Iceborne expansion. Pre-order links will be live at various retailers very soon!

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition Deluxe for $79.99 in North America only, a physical version for PS4 and Xbox One that comes in a premium Steelbook depicting an epic clash between our new main monster Velkhana, and the big bad of World, Nergigante. This limited edition contains World, the Iceborne expansion and the Iceborne Deluxe Kit, which contains a bundle of cosmetic DLC items. Pre-order pages will be live at select retailers shortly!

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition Deluxe will also be available for purchase digitally at launch on PS4 and Xbox One.

However, if you already own Monster Hunter: World…

…you can simply add Iceborne digitally for $39.99 on your console platform of choice.

There is also a Digital Deluxe version of Iceborne for $49.99, which includes the expansion and a bundle of cosmetic DLC items.

Those in the US, GameStop and EB Games will be offering a special steelbook edition. Note that this edition comes with only an insert for download codes for the Iceborne expansion and DLC items for PS4. Think of this as those who want their games represented physically and want the convenience of the game readily accessible anytime digitall.

That’s a ton of Monster Hunter World info to take in just for one day! Are you going back to the New World with Iceborne? What do you hope to see that hasn’t been announced yet?

Predator: Hunting Grounds Announced for PS4, Being Developed by Friday the 13th: The Game Devs

In today’s State of Play by Sony, a new game based on the Predator movie IP was announced called “Predator: Hunting Grounds.” In development by IllFonic, which is the same studio that brought us Friday the 13th: The Game, Hunting Grounds is competitive multiplayer shooter that has one player playing as the Predator!

Check out the reveal trailer for this new Predator PS4 game below.

Drop into the Predator universe through a new competitive online multiplayer experience.

Play as an elite Fireteam charged to complete paramilitary operations while a Predator mercilessly hunts you. Or, BE the Predator, armed with all the deadly alien weaponry you’ve grown to love and pursue your prey.

The Hunt Begins 2020.

According to Illfonic CEO Charles Brungardt, Predator: Hunting Grounds is an asymmetrical experience, which is what Friday the 13th: The Game was. Over on the PlayStation Blog, Brungardt gave a quick description of the gameplay loop.

One group of players will control members of an elite Fireteam who pack state-of-the-art conventional firepower, from shotguns and SMGs to sniper rifles and more.

Meanwhile, one player will control the Predator: a stealthy, acrobatic killing machine bristling with exotic alien technology such as the infamous Plasmacaster.

As the Fireteam attempt to carry out paramilitary missions – annihilating bad guys and recovering important items – the Predator will be closing in, using its advanced vision mode to track and ambush its prey.

Hunting Grounds is set for release sometime in 2020, and once we know more, we’ll let our readers know.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Release Date Set for Oct. 4, Here Are Gameplay Details and the Announce Trailer

Update:

Ubisoft just sent the press release out for Ghost Recon Breakpoint! Read up on the offiicial game description below.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a military shooter set in a diverse and hostile open world entirely playable solo or in up to four-player co-op. Players will discover Auroa, a mysterious island where the most technically advanced facilities meet wild and untamed nature. Home to drone creators, tech giant Skell Technology, Auroa has fallen into the wrong hands and all contact has been lost.

The Wolves, a lethal ex–US Military unit of former Ghosts gone rogue, have taken over the island. Led by Nomad’s ex-brother-in-arms, Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker, portrayed by Jon Bernthal, they have reprogrammed Skell’s drones into killing machines and are ready to use them, no matter the casualties. Nomad and the Ghosts are sent in on a recon mission, but their helicopters are shot down. Injured, without support, and hunted down, players will live an intense military experience as they fight to survive, take down the Wolves and regain control of Auroa.

Steep slopes, accumulating injuries, and fatigue are new challenges for players to tackle as they test their survival skills in the varied terrains of Auroa. To overcome adversity, players will enjoy total freedom to accomplish their missions and have plenty of tactical options and tools at their disposal, including a set of new military features. They will be able to carry enemies and teammates’ bodies, blend into their environment with prone camo and set up camp with teammates in the bivouac to manage equipment, change classes, and fine-tune their strategies.

They will also be able to choose among thousands of customization combinations to create their perfect Ghost, and keep their character and progression through the game in both the main campaign and Player-versus-player (PvP), available at launch.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will include a robust post-launch content support plan, with regular updates after launch. New story arcs, classes and features will be continuously added, and for the first time in a Ghost Recon game, a new type of endgame content: raids.

Original Story:

As expected from yesterday’s leak, Ubisoft has confirmed that the new Ghost Recon game is titled “Ghost Recon Breakpoint,” and as is common with multiplayer games these days, a beta is set to be released sometime soon before launch!

According to Ubisoft’s livestream reveal of the game, the Ghost Recon Breakpoint release date is set for October 4, and pre-ordering the game will grant the buyer guaranteed beta access!

While the Ghost Recon Breakpoint is currently on-going, expect more info about the game to be released within the day once it wraps up. We’ll update the post with the official game description and more once we can.
