Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Strobe Light Counter Now Being Considered After 7 Months of Data & Feedback

If you’re a Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 multiplayer fan, chances are you’ve encountered someone using the Strobe Light Operator Mod for the SG-12 shotgun. While having a blinding light to distract enemies might be in itself be OK, the fact that the Strobe Light also disables aim assist on consoles puts it on another level.

Well, it seems Treyarch might finally be doing something about it. Over on Twitter, Tony Flame  Gameplay Game Designer for Black Ops 4, commented that a Black Ops 4 Strobe Light counter might finally be implemented via the Tactical Mask perk.

We’ve been considering Tactical Mask as a counter to Strobe Light by not affecting aim-assist. We didn’t want to do this originally, for the risk of making Strobe too ineffective, but there is a better case for it now that we’ve gotten plenty of data and feedback

Note that we’re now in the seventh month of Black Ops 4’s lifecycle since its launch back in October of last year. In short: It’s taken Treyarch seven months to address something that a ton of players have been complaining about since the first month of the game being out.

Over on the Black Ops 4 subreddit, a lot of gamers have weighed in on this late acknowledgement by Treyarch, and below, you’ll see some of the best reactions.

More reactions can be seen here. As someone who’s played a ton of Black Ops 4 multiplayer, it’s kind of baffling to me that it has taken Treyarch seven months’ worth of data and feedback before reacting to this or even acknowledging that it’s an issue. Joining games of Hardpoint and even Domination, it’s not unusual to come across an entire team all using the Strobe Light given how powerful it is.

To those who use it still, your days might be numbered based on Flame’s statement.

Do you think the Strobe Light is too overpowered? Are you OK with Treyarch taking this long to acknowledge that it might be an issue? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

The Division 2 Upcoming Changes in Title Update #3 Listed, Patch Scheduled for Next Week

Just a few weeks ago, Ubisoft announced that it was delaying The Division 2’s big title update #3 to sometime in May in order to do further testing. Well, it seems we now know just when in May it’ll be! In yesterday’s State of the Game, Ubisoft announced that The Division 2 upcoming changes in title update #3 will be rolled out next week!

While we already have a big list of changes coming to The Division 2 in title update #3, a new host of gameplay tweaks, bug fixes and more have been revealed yesterday as well. Check out the list below for The Division 2 upcoming changes (via Reddit):

Title Update 3 – Changes

These are some of the highlighted changes – the PTS Patch Notes are linked at the bottom for the complete list.

The final patch notes will drop next week.

Matchmaking in Down Under

  • They have a data center in Sydney
  • The goal is that they can play together
  • There are not as many players there than in other areas and therefore the chances that you find other players that are doing exactly the same activity on the same level etc is therefore smaller.
  • They made many changes to the matchmaking in that area since launch – first they matchmade players to Asia, but then there were language barriers, then they matchmade them to America.
  • But the feedback was, that the Australian players prefer good performance over fast matchmaking, so they reverted that change, so now the matchmaking focuses back on the Australia servers – but it can take longer until you find a group.
  • This is the solution at the moment – but they continue to improve the situation.

GS 500+ Topic

There has been a lot of discussion about how the next higher Gear Score will be added to the game. You can read * about it in the “Developer Update: Gear Score in Title Update 3” below. * TLDR: It is not the right time now.

GS 500 Farmlocations

  • Contaminated Loot in the Dark Zone (once you have reached GS 500)
  • Heroic Difficulty Mission Bosses, Stronghold Bosses, Bounty Bosses and Control Points Level 4 will give you containers that will guarantee GS 500 drops when the player has reached GS 500.
  • The Daily Mission will also guarantee GS 500 items (once the player has reached GS 500).

Some time-sensitive Commendations have been removed / New ones added

  • The Commendations “Consecutive Days Playtime” and similar ones have been removed
  • They did not provide a good player experience and they did not want to force players to play the game with requirements that are also difficult to track because of timezones etc.
  • Unlocked commendations will stay visible
  • A vanity patch will be added to compensate for lost time.
  • They will add other commendations where you can prove your dedication to the game without the login-requirement. (30-day playtime in total etc)

Crafting

  • Increased the base cap for Receiver Components and Protective Fabric crafting materials by 200, meaning that their caps now start at 350 and end at 600 with all material capacity perks.
  • Inaya al-Khaliq in the Base of Operation is now a Crafting Vendor, she can be found next to the Crafting Bench in the White House.
  • The goal is also to make blueprints more accessible.
  • Crafted Exotic weapons will now always upgrade to the maximum Gear Score of the World Tier they are crafted in, when the Upgrade Blueprint is used.

Gear Changes

Among other things, they want to make the Gear Sets a more viable choice and also that players are able to invest in armor and also feel tankier than they are now.

  • Gear will now include better defensive rolls.
    • Gear sets
      • Hard Wired
        • Now grants Skill Damage instead of Shock Duration.
      • Ongoing Directive
        • Now grants special ammunition into any weapon, including the weapon currently equipped.
        • Now grants special ammunition on any kill, not just weapon kills.
      • True Patriot
        • Decreased debuff cycle from 4 seconds to 2 seconds.
        • Increased damage dealt to nearby targets when Full Flag is active to 50%.

Loot Changes

  • Improved quality and quantity of Drone Helicopter loot.
  • Slightly reduced the maximum available loot from Clan Caches.
  • Increased ammunition drop chance from enemy NPCs to decrease situations where players would run out of ammunition during prolonged fights on higher difficulty activities.
  • Lowered the chances that the loot drops with lower GS than the average GS of the player.
  • Heroic Difficulty Mission Bosses, Stronghold Bosses, Bounty Bosses and Control Points Level 4 will give you containers that will guarantee GS 500 drops when the player has reached GS 500.
  • Dark Zone
    • Contaminated loot will drop below the players GS and will guarantee GS 500 when the player has reached that GS.

Exotics

Exotics are having their damage increased across the board.

Post Mission Summary Screen

  • After completing a mission, players have the option to look at a mission summary and evaluate how they performed based on a variety of statistics.

New mods: Auxiliary Skill Battery

  • Auxiliary Skill Batteries fit in Skill mod slots and grant Skill Power that will allow you to unlock mods with higher Skill Power Requirement.

Recalibration remake

Recalibration has been changed to allow for the majority of stats to be moved as they are, from one item to another, while making it less likely to reach the cap of the stat moved. To achieve this goal, we’re expressing the recalibrated power as a separate number, next to the gear score. As such, the recalibration will no longer increase the gear score of the item. All existing recalibrated items will have their recalibrated additional gear score converted to the new format.

Enemy NPC Changes

  • Decreased damage of Veteran, Elite and Named NPCs.
  • Greatly reduced the melee damage of Tank NPCs
  • Moderately decreased melee damage of all other NPCs.
  • Accuracy of Grenade Throwers has been reduced
  • Enemy NPCs should no longer be able to stagger players with a melee attack if the player has a Ballistic Shield equipped.

Friendly NPC Changes

  • Civilians now wear protective gear.
  • Upgrading a settlement also increases the Civilians damage
  • Civilian hostages are now more protective of their lives

Control Points

  • The Alert Level impact will now be more clearly communicated (hard – heroic)
  • Hostile patrols and convoys are now communicated better during takeovers
  • Civilian Officers can revive you during takeovers.
  • Civilian Takeover can now be used as respawn point
  • You can fast travel to friendly takeovers and convoys

Skills

  • Skills
    • Assault Drone
      • PvE: The Drone will now more actively look for a new target once it loses its current target.
    • Defender Drone
      • Will now drain more quickly once a shot has been deflected.
    • Reinforcer Chem Launcher
      • Reinforcer gas clouds do not stack anymore.
    • Reviver Hive
      • Fixed further occurrences of players not being revived.
      • Revive time slightly increased.
    • Riot Foam Chem Launcher
      • Increased base duration of Riot Foam when used against an NPC.
    • Scanner Pulse
      • Reduced cooldown from 120 seconds to 90 seconds.

Conflict

  • Conflict
    • Armor boost
      • Boost provided reduced by 50%.

PVP Balancing (Among other things)

  • Players are now normalized to GS 500
  • Assault Rifles have now a 1.25 PVP damage scaler applied
  • PVP Damage modifier has been decreased (longer time to kill)
  • Skill modifier has been increased (Skill do more damage)

Dark Zone

  • Dark Zone
    • Contaminated loot
      • Bosses now guarantee a contaminated loot drop.
      • Higher challenge landmarks can drop multiple contaminated items.
      • Basic, Veteran and Elite NPCs have their drop rate lowered, but now have a very high chance to drop contaminated loot.
    • Dark Zone bag size
      • Default bag size increased to 6.
      • Tier 1 perk Bag Space now increases bag size to 8.
      • Tier 4 perk Bounceback now reduces Dark Zone XP lost on death.
      • Tier 10 perk increases bag size to 10.
    • Dark Zone brackets
      • Reduced bracketing to:
        • Level 1 – 30.
        • Players in World Tiers.
    • Rogue
      • Removed cooldown.
        • There is still a 5 second toggle cooldown.
    • Occupied Dark Zone
      • Damage modifiers
        • Added a separate PvP damage modifier.
      • XP
        • Reduced DZXP loss to 35% of the XP in your current Dark Zone rank when being killed.

Console Performance improvements

  • The streaming of textures has been improved for consoles

Bear in mind, this is NOT the full list of patch notes. If you’re a The Division 2 player, you should be on the lookout next week since the patch will change a ton of things in the game, as well as add new content. If past updates are anything to go by, expect it to be out by Tuesday.

Battlefield 5 Firestorm Duo Mode Now Out, Here’s DICE’s Official Statement

If you’re a Battlefield 5 battle royale player, you might have liked playing the Duos mode — especially those who can’t form a full party to play Firestorm. In case you load it up today and notice something’s missing, DICE has officially pulled the Battlefield 5 Firestorm Duo mode from the rotation.

In a new post on Reddit, DICE explains why they did it and if it will come back again (highly likely).

Why is Duo leaving?

Duo received an overwhelmingly positive reaction at launch. It debuted during a weekend, and was initially done so only as an early first look at the mode. Duo was originally designed as a limited time offering similar to Grind and Rush, and featured as limited time content in Chapter 3.

When Duo was first removed, you told us that you wanted to see it come back and we were happy to support.

Since then, we’ve seen more folks jump back into Squads mode, with less preferring to Firestorm it up in Duo – so we’re going to get back to the original plan today and we’ve disabled it’s matchmaking.

Will Duo return?

As with other limited time modes, we never say never. We’re confident that we’ll see it again!

Limited Time Gamemodes

Similar to Firestorm, the core Battlefield experience receives plenty of rotation of temporary modes like Grind, Rush, Squad Conquest, and soon – Outpost.

We’re going to look at ways to ensure that you all have the opportunity to enjoy these modes after their initial availability, without compromising the matchmaking experiences for players who’d prefer to stay with the base game modes.

This is something we’re exploring as part of the development of Private Games which you can read more about here. We’ll keep you updated on that as we build out the feature via Community Broadcasts like this.

In other Firestorm news, Australian players and those in Oceania are in an unfortunate spot, as it seems servers for Firestorm in the region are being discontinued.

Battlefield 5 Firestorm Australia Servers Virtually Discontinued

If you’re a Battlefield 5 Firestorm fan, and you’re in Australia (New Zealand or other parts of Oceania), you’ve most likely experienced how hard it is to find a Firestorm match. Well, you’re not alone. Over on Reddit, CiaranDoherty has posted that for all intents and purposes, the Battlefield 5 Firestorm Australia servers have been virtually killed off, as players not only have to wait a long, long time for matches, but even if they do get in, the pings are at an unplayable level.

Here’s CiaranDoherty’s full statement:

Just to put it very clearly and simply so that there is no confusion amongst the community at large: Firestorm is not a playable mode in Australia, NZ and the rest of Oceania.

What began as 10+ minute wait times for each match and a minimum of 190 ping has finally reached the point of it being essentially impossible to play the game at any time of day in any mode. For all intents and purposes, there is no such thing as Firestorm in this continent and to EA/DICE, your marketing material should reflect this. Please do not advertise Firestorm here, there are no players, no functional servers and no possibility for anyone buying the game for Firestorm to actually get what they paid for.

I can only assume that the rest of the world is going to experience this outcome within a matter of days/weeks because I am already seeing posts from US and EU users of the long wait times and high pings that we started with over here. So be warned, don’t invest to much personally/financially/emotionally into Firestorm because it appears to be dying at an extremely rapid pace.

Disclaimer: I love(d) Firestorm.

If you’re a Battlefield 5 Firestorm player from Australia, let us know if things have improved or not in the comments.

In other Battlefield 5 news, go check out gameplay footage of the still-unreleased Boys AT Rifle right here. And speaking of servers, DICE has announced that the rent a server (RPS) program for BF5 will launch later this summer. Read on for more info regarding that here. In the meantime, you can also invest in a faster, better, and more stable internet connection. You can check out some of the best ISPs ahead to make the right selection at the end of the day.

Rumor: PS5 Specs Listed Based Off on “Sony Meeting”

Just a few weeks ago, out of left field, Sony shocked the gaming world by dropping the first info about the PS5 (PlayStation 5). While nothing concrete has come out after since then, which is understandable, a new report has been making the rounds.

Over on the PS5 subreddit (yes, there’s one already), a user by the name of 17791 has posted an alleged PS5 specs list based on what he said is from a Sony meeting his friend attended, which was right after the PS5 interview with Mark Cerny was published. Just so we don’t muddy anything up, here’s the entire message in full (and remember NOTHING here is verified):

Well, a close friend of mine was at a Sony meeting due to the nature of his work.

The meeting took place the day after the PS5 article went up. He’s sent me some details about what was mentioned at this meeting and has given me the greenlight to say some things that were mentioned:

8 core Zen 2, clocked at 3.2Ghz.

Custom Navi GPU, 56CU, 1.8Ghz, 12.9TF. RT is hardware based, co engineered by AMD and Sony. (They believe the RT hardware is the basis for the rumour that Navi was built for Sony)

24GB RAM (Type or bandwidth wasn’t mentioned)

Custom embeded Solid State solution paired with HDD.

No mention of PSVR 2. At all.

PS4 native backwards compatibility, Boost mode being worked on. No mention of enhanced titles. PS3 BC will stay as part of PS Now for the foreseeable future.

It may not as powerful as some think, Sony say they want a balanced machine that’s powerful with limited potential for bottlenecks. My friend also said Sony as of recently wants to position itself as a premium brand and this will be the messaging focus.

This person, who says that he won’t be answering questions since he posted the info using a throwaway account even posted an image of the event room where this alleged meeting took place:

ps5 specs

Reddit user 17791 posted another screenshot of the meeting, and Reddit user HAHMBFGamer has pointed out that if you zoomed in tot he red lanyards, you can see “Sony” on ’em, with the photo taken the day after the PS5 interview with Mark Cerny went live.

Comment from discussion Well here we go….

If these PS5 specs listed are true, then this should be one powerhouse of a console, no? Keep in mind — and it bears repeating — that none of the info mentioned has been verified. We’ve reached out to Sony regarding this story and will update the post if and when we get a response.

Report: New Ghost Recon Game Titled “Breakpoint” Leaked via Collector’s Edition, Set for Release This October

In case you haven’t been keeping tabs with gaming news here on MP1st (shame on you if you haven’t), then you might have missed the news that Ubisoft is set to announce a new Ghost Recon game tomorrow, May 9, 2019.

Well, it seems we don’t even have to wait until tomorrow to know its official title. Thanks to Ubisoft’s own store, we now get to see the “Wolves Collector’s Edition” of the new Ghost Recon game, which is titled “Ghost Recon Breakpoint.”

Not only that, but there’s a ton of details that are known as well. In a now-removed post on the Ghost Recon subreddit, user PracticalBrush12 has posted the Ghost Recon Breakpoint release date, and a lot more details! Thankfully, Reddit user falconbox reposted the message in full, which you can read below.

(Note: added a screenshot for the pulled Ghost Recon post):

Hi guys, new Ghost Recon is coming are you excited?

It’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, seems to be a story driven 4 player experience against Cole D. Walker(gone rogue) and his army of mostly weaponized drones. Is coming out on October 4th this year, PC PS4 and XBOX.

No news about the multiplayer yet, but there will be a deluxe edition called “Wolves”.

There will be gameplay reveal too but flaired as “alpha footage” so I guess nothing final. It’s showing a sequence in quite nice jungle, with mud mechanics, then to clearing an outpost.

So far it seems the game will be fun, what do you think?

Cheers, Brushie

PS. Sorry, no screenshots this time :/

Is coming out on October 4th this year, PC PS4 and XBOX.

No news about the multiplayer yet, but there will be a collector’s edition called “Wolves” exclusive to the Ubi Store, contains a 24cm figurine of Cole, a map, arts, Year 1 Pass (sigh) and Ultimate Pack (which has some missions, vehicles, cosmetics and early class unlockers) and you can play 3 days before premiere.

Bear in mind that all the info above have NOT been confirmed by Ubisoft and as such, should be treated as rumors for now. Having said that, these are very plausible rumors given the leaks and the Collector’s Edition image.

Make sure to watch out for tomorrow’s reveal where we’ll get to hear about the game in an official capacity.

The Division 2 Gear Score Update Beyond 500 Not Happening for Title Update #3

With Ubisoft pushing back The Division 2’s next major update (title update #3) sometime this month, some might have assumed that the gear score in the game will be upped as part of the patch. Well, you assumed wrong. In a new post on the game’s official site, Ubisoft has revealed that The Division 2 gear score update will not be happening with this month’s big patch and explained why.

With the plethora of PvE and PvP changes in TU3 we want to improve the Dark Zone experience, making it more fun and rewarding. Taking those changes into account, we decided that it is too early to introduce higher Gear Score items. We want to make sure the next Gear Score increase feels completely natural and comes at a time that is right for the game.

In addition to that statement, Ubisoft listed a few key issues that they think will arise if they increase the Gear Score this soon:

  • Gear Score 500 items would have been outdated immediately, and all the effort you put into min/maxing and farming your builds would have been wasted just as the Raid goes live. We don’t want to invalidate your progression and we heard that feedback loud and clear from our community. Your gear and your builds are important to you and to us.
  • The statistical increase in stats would have made gear better but we don’t want the focus to be on constantly chasing a higher Gear Score, when it should be about finding a playstyle and build that you enjoy.

Ubisoft has alos mentioned that the upcoming Raid called Operation Dark Hours will give Gear Score 500 rewards as well.

Operation Dark Hours, the 8-player Raid coming in TU3, will also provide Gear Score 500 rewards. The raid will offer exclusive loot, including new gear sets and an Exotic weapon. We’re very excited for you to experience the first Raid in The Division history, which we hope will be a great addition to the end game.

Moving forward, to make it clearer where to get Gear Score 500 items, we’ve made the following changes in Title Update 3.

  • We have increased the rewards for daily Priority Hard and Challenging missions. Once you’ve reached Gear Score 500, those activities will guarantee Gear Score 500 drops.
  • Heroic Mission bosses, Stronghold bosses and Bounty bosses, as well as Control Point Alert Level 4 reward containers guarantee Gear Score 500 items if your average Gear Score is at 500.
  • DZ contaminated loot does not drop below player’s average Gear Score. When you’ve reached an average Gear Score of 500, Contaminated loot will guarantee Gear Score 500 items.
  • We’ve balanced loot across the board to reduce the chances of items dropping at a lower Gear Score than that of your character.

Is this OK for you? Or were you expecting the Gear Score to be upped in this month’s big patch?

Battlefield 5 Boys AT Rifle Gameplay Early Look and Info

We’ve already posted about gameplay from unreleased weapons in Battlefield 5 before, and if you’re a fan of that, we have more to show today. Below, you’ll see the Battlefield 5 Boys AT Rifle gameplay from someone who was given the gun in an actual match!

I recently was in a game with someone who had a Boys AT Rifle. He let me pick it up to use it and told me that: There are no scopes for it, only the iron sights in the video. You can’t unlock Urban Blue or Predator for it. Upon completing the Mastery challenges, you unlock a 6x scope. As you can see, it does a small amount of damage to tanks, comparable to K-Bullets from BF1, must be bipoded to ADS, similar to the Tankgewehr, and does not instakill to the body, dealing only 85 damage.

If you noticed how little damage it was dealing to vehicles, the gun itself is meant to help take down vehicles and destroy vital parts, rather than outright destroying them which would make the gun seriously OP.

Interestingly enough, the [CZTK] platoon was the one who found the gun though it’s still unknown how they managed to get it.

Once we know more info about this or have more unreleased guns known, we’ll let our readers know ASAP.

Apex Legends Mobile Confirmed to Be in Development, EA in “Advanced Negotiations” to Bring Apex Legends to China

Given how successful Apex Legends has been not only for developer Respawn Entertainment, but for publisher EA, it seems that’s not enough as an Apex Legends mobile version is being developed by EA.

In today’s earnings call, EA Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen confirmed this when he mentioned how the publisher was in “advanced negotiations” to bring Apex Legends to China.

We are hugely excited about the future of Apex Legends. Players love it, with a Metacritic of 89 and an extremely high net promoter score. Engagement is strong, and we have big plans for the Legends and the world they compete in.

We are in advanced negotiations to bring Apex Legends to China and to mobile, and we will update you on timeframes when those negotiations are concluded. We are self-publishing Apex Legends in Korea. The game offers an opportunity for us to build a direct connection with our players there, and we hope to be able to leverage this for other games. – Blake Jorgensen, EA Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer

With Respawn focusing on more Apex Legends content — and pushing Titanfall games out of the way in the process — EA might be doing the smart move by tapping into the gigantic market in China, and of course, Apex Legends mobile might help make it bigger as to what the mobile version of Fortnite did to the game.

New Need for Speed Game, New Plants vs. Zombies Shooter Coming This Fall

Racing fans might remember that the last Need for Speed game we got was need for Speed Payback back in 2017, which was developed by Ghost Games. After a year’s break, it seems we’ll be getting a new Need for Speed game later this year, and even a new entry in the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare series of games!

During today’s EA financial earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson mentioned that a new Need for Speed game will return to consoles and PC this year, and casually mentions we’ll see a new Plants vs. Zombies shooter title as well.

For Star Wars fans, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will deliver an amazing single-player adventure, launching in the same window as the movie this holiday. Need for Speed returns to consoles and PC this year, revitalizing the street racer versus cop fantasy at the core of the franchise.

We’ll have a new Plants vs. Zombies HD shooter title, fun and irreverent as always.

While we don’t know the exact title of this new Need for Speed game, let’s hope that it’s playable offline like Payback was, no?  Would racing fans want the same narrative-driven gameplay experience from Payback? I honestly don’t know.

As for this new Plants vs. Zombies shooter, Wilson didn’t exactly say Garden Warfare 3, but given how successful the previous two entries were, it’d be foolish of EA not to continue using the branding.

What would you want to see from this new Need for Speed game? What about Garden Warfare 3? Let us know down in the comments.

Anthem Sales Didn’t Meet Expectations, EA “Committed” to the Game “Long-Term”

With Anthem suffering through one issue after another, and the community upset over some of BioWare’s design decisions, some might be wondering if the game sold well enough to make EA happy. Well, we know the answer now, and it’s a no.

Speaking in today’s EA earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson admitted that Anthem sales didn’t meet expectations, though he also added that the publisher is committed to the game, and to BioWare, and will support it “long-term.”

We are similarly committed to the live service for Anthem, and delivering for our community in this new IP over the long-term. The launch of Anthem in Q4 did not meet our expectations. However, we believe in the team at BioWare, and we also believe in what they set out to achieve with this game – building a new IP and melding genres to reach a new audience.

Players have spent more than 150 million hours in Anthem since launch, and we’ve heard from them that the beauty and expanse of the world is stunning, and that traversing the environment in the Javelin suits makes for amazing gameplay.

However, we’ve also heard feedback from our community about issues that began to manifest as the game reached scale, and that they want more depth and variety in the mission modes of the game. The team is now very focused on continued improvements to the game, and will then bring more content updates and in-game events that will enhance and expand the Anthem experience. – Andrew Wilson, EA CEO

This is welcome news for Anthem players, right? Granted, the update we got earlier today didn’t exactly exactly help things, but at least we got affirmation from EA’s big boss that they’ll support the game long-term.

Battlefield 5 Rent a Server Release Date Set for Summer, Here’s the Info You Need to Know

Have you given up hope on the Battlefield 5 rent a server becoming a reality? I hope not as today, DICE has revealed a ton of details about it! While we don’t know the exact day for the Battlefield 5 rent a server release date, DICE said it’s coming this summer.

In addition to the release window, a ton of details about it have been revealed. Here’s a summary of what DICE has revealed today (via Reddit):

  • RSP is now rebranded as Private Games
  • It’s coming after this Summer
  • It will be available for all Battlefield V players
  • We plan to offer the base level of Private Games tools for FREE

PRIVATE GAMES

We’ll be rolling out Private Games after this Summer to all Battlefield V owners, and development will evolve over time. Today, we want to detail what you can expect for the first release.

Private Games will grant you the ability to create your own Battlefield V server, directly from within the main menu, or through a browser via a new web service that we’re creating. The servers that you create will remain online while there are people playing on it. If no one is active on the server, it goes away. But don’t worry! With the server configs saved locally, the ability to quickly start a new Private Game or switch between various server setups will be available.

The servers you create will be located at the closet ping site to you and will be placed within our own server infrastructure.

There will be no cost for base level of Private Games tools, it will be free for everyone.

So, what’s in the box?

For the first phase of Private Games, we’ve included some important “must-haves” as well as administration tools to let you control your server.
These are the features we plan on having live for Phase 1, but some items could be added or shifted to a later phase. We’ll definitely keep you informed over the coming months.

Core Functionality

  • Create private game from main menu
  • Set custom name for the server
  • Set description for the server
  • Password protect the server
  • Control what maps are used within the map rotation
  • Control what game modes are available
  • Control the number of players needed to break pre-round
  • Kick players from the current game
  • Control what classes are available
  • Control what weapons are allowed
  • Control if vehicles are allowed
  • Control if the kill cam will be displayed
  • Turn friendly fire on or off
  • Turn regenerative health on or off
  • Change soldier tags as visible or not
  • Enable or disable third-person camera view
  • Enable squad leader spawn only
  • Enable or disable aim assist auto rotation
  • Enable or disable aim assist cooldown
  • Control bullet damage scaling
  • Control game mode ticket scaling
  • Control soldier and vehicle respawn timers
  • Turn the mini map on or off
  • Enable or disable the compass

Organization Options

  • Apply a pre-set config to a private game
    • Vanilla, Infantry only, DICE-authored etc.
  • Save your server settings as a custom preset so you can reapply at will
  • Have your name highlighted in chat if you’re the owner of the server
  • Administrate and manage server settings in the main menu or via our Private Games web portal
  • Have the description of your Private Game presented on the loading screen
  • Manually switch specific players between teams
  • Report private games in the advanced search screen

This is just the beginning. We’ll be following up with further updates, such as creating and managing lists of moderators, VIPs, and banned players, and more.

Additionally, DICE talks about the “community development initiative,” which is a fancy way of saying that they’re building features and improvements on the Battlefield 5 rent a server with the help of the community.

Lastly, at this June’s EA Play event, DICE will be doing a dev talk knonwn as “On the Battlefield,” where the devs will answer some of the biggest questions regarding the game and the rent a server feature.

EA Access PS4 Announced, Starts This July

If you’re a fan of EA-published titles and you mostly game on a PC and/or Xbox One, chances are you’ve already signed up or at least tried EA’s EA Access subscription service. For those who game on a PS4 and want in on the action, rejoice! EA has announced that EA Access PS4 membership program is starting this July!

In a press release, EA announced that the EA Access service will be available to PS4 gamers this July for a monthly subscription of $4.99, or an annual subscription of $29.99. For those not familiar with EA Access, it’s a subscription-based service that lets players experience the publisher’s “Play First Trials,” where they can play up to 10 hours of most of the publisher’s new games. Subscribers will also be granted a 10 percent discount on full game purchases, DLC, and more.

Oh, and of course, there’s also the library of EA games that members can play too.

This should be a welcome addition to PS4 gamers who are already members of PlayStation Plus. I mean for that monthly or annual price, you’ll be able to try out the latest EA games to know whether they’re worth your hard earned money or not, and that alone is worth the admission price, no?

Anthem Update 1.1.1 Patch Notes Now Out and Listed, Loot Exploit Fixed by BioWare

While players might be looking forward to the next Anthem patch, this might not be it. Today, BioWare rolled out the Anthem update 1.1.1 patch notes, and yeah, it doesn’t look good.

According to BioWare, no downtime is expected with this Anthem update, though players will need to close the game to download the patch. Also of note, Elysian Caches will be going away on May 7 (today), so if you have any keys left, be sure to use them.

Anthem update 1.1.1 patch notes:

  • Fixed an error where Weapon and Components stat values were not displaying correctly.
  • Fixed a problem where suit power level (rarity) was not correctly being calculated based on equipped items.
  • Fixed an issue with Spanish audio in a conversation in the Sunken Cell stronghold.
  • Fixed an issue with French audio in a conversation in the Sunken Cell stronghold.
  • Fixed an issue causing a slight delay in Salvaging at End of Expedition
  • Partially defeated encounters will no longer re-dispense loot from previously defeated creatures.
  • [PC ONLY] – Right clicking an item to salvage it at the end of expedition screen now requires the mouse button to be held.

Yep, not only did BioWare not do any loot drop improvements, but the loot exploit has been fixed! Hopefully, BioWare will release a new patch that has significant gameplay tweaks (and loot improvements) soon!

Speaking of BioWare, the studio explained the lack of communication on their end. In case you’re not happy with your purchase, a gamer managed to get a refund for the game and here’s how.
