Sony Microsoft Partnership Deal Looks to Improve Cloud Gaming

Sony is still surprising gamers with very unlikely partnerships as of late. In case you didn’t know, the company responsible for the PlayStation signed a deal with Immersion. The deal included Haptic Feedback for VR and gaming controllers. Now, another unlikely deal has risen as a Sony Microsoft partnership has started to make its rounds.

The objective of the current strategic partnership between Sony and Microsoft is to further enhance customer experiences in their direct-to-consumer entertainment platforms and AI solutions. The two companies will explore joint development to support their respective game-streaming services. With this, the companies expect to deliver better experiences for their worldwide customers. Additionally, they expect to help content creators with this collaboration.

“Sony is a creative entertainment company with a solid foundation of technology. We collaborate closely with a multitude of content creators that capture the imagination of people around the world, and through our cutting-edge technology, we provide the tools to bring their dreams and vision to reality.” said Kenichiro Yoshida, president and CEO of Sony. “For many years, Microsoft has been a key business partner for us. I believe that our joint development of future cloud solutions will contribute greatly to the advancement of interactive content.”

Meanwhile, Satya Nadella, the current CEO of Microsoft, added this comment. “Sony has always been a leader in both entertainment and technology, and the collaboration we announced today builds on this history of innovation. Our partnership brings the power of Azure and Azure AI to Sony to deliver new gaming and entertainment experiences for customers.”

What could possibly come from this partnership? Would Sony and Microsoft both push for better developments for Cloud Gaming in the near future? Is this partnership going to help the PlayStation 5 and the next-gen Xbox? Only time will tell. However, it definitely seems like this year is going to be plagued with interesting announcements like this.

The Division 2 Operation Dark Hours Matchmaking Still “Not the Best Solution” Says Ubisoft

If you’re looking forward to playing the first-ever Raid for The Division 2 called Operation Dark Hours, but find that you can’t find seven other players to be online at the same time, you probably aren’t alone.

While Ubisoft has already mentioned why they’re not letting people group up via The Division 2 Operation Dark Hours matchmaking, the studio has issued a new statement today, which further solidifies the studio’s stance that they don’t want random matchmaking for the Raid, and thinks it’s not the best solution at all.

Here’s the full letter penned by The Division 2 team on why there’s no random The Division 2 Operation Dark Hours matchmaking (via the Ubisoft forums):

With the upcoming release for Operation Dark Hours, we wanted to discuss matchmaking for the Raid.

Operation Dark Hours will be the most challenging content we have ever created for the franchise. While Incursions are compared to the raid they are not the same, and the level of difficulty and requirements to work as a team are much higher. Operation Dark Hours requires players to align on their unified goals and strategies, from defining each agent’s build and coordinated efforts on the fly to overcome the unmatched challenge awaiting them at the Washington National Airport.
The raid will require very good communication between agents, adjusting to situations on the fly and fire power alone will not be the decisive factor to get through the National Airport. Therefore, our decision was to not include matchmaking, as the difficulty level is designed for coordinated groups and clans, that will prepare, plan and execute their strategies.

While all activities at launch had matchmaking as stated previously, technical constraints or gameplay purposes can bring us to not implement matchmaking on some post-launch activities. We hear your feedback, we read all your comments, and we’ll keep discussing it internally and with you. To be clear: We don’t have a simple switch to turn on matchmaking for 8 random players. We still think that might not be the best solution in the end.

We really appreciate your feedback and we’re excited to see how passionate you are about the first raid in The Division 2 before anybody has even entered it. It makes us happy that this completely new experience is something a lot of agents want to tackle. If you’re looking for like-minded people we’ll have special Looking For Group channels on our official Discord server and you can also start looking for other agents on Twitter by using the hashtag #LFGDarkHours.

Thank you,
/The Division Team

Do you agree with Ubisoft or do you want to at least have the option of matching up with randoms to fill your teams or just to test it out?

For more on Operation Dark Hours, make sure to read up our The Division 2 Raid info post where everything you need to know is listed in one place.

Dota Underlords Trademark Filed by Valve

Valve has been very quiet when it came to new game releases or announcements as of late. However, it seems like that is going to change now with their latest trademark. In case you didn’t know, Valve has just trademarked “Dota Underlords.” Unfortunately, there really isn’t that much information that can be taken besides this name.

The trademark was filed on May 6, 2019. It’s a Goods and Services trademark which involves computer game software, electronic game software, and video game software. This development is quite surprising. However, there really is no way to tell what this new game is going to be.

The most common speculation about fans is that this is going to be a re-branded reboot for Artifact. For those who need a refresher, Artifact was a card game based on the Dota 2 universe. The game suffered a 95% player decline in just a matter of months. As such, the development team has been hard at work trying to fix this game. Some other speculation revolves around this game being a full realization for the popular mod, Dota Auto Chess. This mod has actually made Dota to become one of the most popular games of 2019. It definitely wouldn’t be strange to see Valve officially distributing this as a new game.

However, nothing about the new Valve game is known so players are left to speculate for now. Perhaps Valve is preparing an announcement to happen during E3’s PC Gaming Show. Maybe the game will actually be something more than a card game. Perhaps Valve is going to reveal Dota Underlords as a dungeon crawler fantasy RPG.

Fortnite John Wick Event “Wick Bounty” Now Available

The Fortnite John Wick cross over has been rumored to happen for quite some time now. In fact, we covered the latest data leak about it yesterday. However, it seems like Epic Games couldn’t wait any longer to make the collaboration announcement. As such, the Wick Bounty Event is now available for players as a Limited Time Event.

“Tick Tock, Mr. Wick. The High Table has opened a new contract. It’s up to you to collect the bounty. Stay alive and collect gold tokens by eliminating the other bounty hunters. The first one to fulfill the order wins, but be careful how far ahead you get, as you will become a target for everyone else.” This is the event’s description as stated by the Fortnite team.

Additionally, the Wick Bounty event got a trailer which shows players what to expect from the upcoming event. Check it out yourself by looking below!

The LTM will give players multiple challenges for players to complete. Each challenge provides multiple free rewards including the Gold Token Back Bling, One Shot Glider, Boogeyman Wrap, and bonus XP before the event ends. John Wick’s outfit set is also available via the item store. The set includes the John Wick outfit, and a Simple Sledge pickaxe.

The Fortnite John Wick Event is now here

The Fortnite Wick’s Bounty event is now available for players on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. However, not everything is good news for the Battle Royale game. Quite recently, the competitive scene has suffered a massive blow to its credibility. This happened after some players were found to be colluding during Fortnite’s World Cup Solo qualifiers.

There Are 3 Ubisoft Unannounced Games That’s Due by March 2020

In Ubisoft’s latest earnings report, the publisher has revealed that it has three unannounced AAA games in development that will be out in the publisher’s fiscal year, which is between January to March 31, 2020.

There’s actually four Ubisoft unannounced games, but given we just got a Ghost Recon Breakpoint reveal last week, that strips the list down by one.

It’s unknown what these games will be and whether they’ll be new IPs or sequels, but I gather, we’ll hear some of the announcements (or all of ’em) at this year’s E3, which Ubisoft is already confirmed to be holding a press conference in.

Ubisoft’s E3 press conference is set for June 10, which is the day before E3, MP1st will cover any news that comes out of it without any frills.

Infinity Ward Hired Modern Warfare Veteran Developers for Call of Duty 2019

While Activision nor Infinity Ward has revealed what Call of Duty 2019 will be, more and more rumors and reports have surfaced stating that it’ll be the next chapter in the Modern Warfare saga. Just to further add fuel to the fire, it seems Infinity Ward hired back a bunch of former developers who worked on the Modern Warfare series of games!

Over on LinkedIn (via GameSpot), there are at least five known former Infinity Ward developers that are now back in the studio, and yes, they all had experience with the Modern Warfare franchise. There’s Animation Director Marck Grisby who worked on the first two Modern Warfare games, Game Designer Alex Roycewicz, Multiplayer Design Director Geoff Smith, and Studio Art Director Joel Emslie. Not only that, but Infinity Ward founder Zied Rieke has also returned as Gameplay Director for Call of Duty 2019!

Given how most of the core Infinity Ward developers left the studio to help form Respawn, it seems this is a mini reunion of sorts for Grisby, Smith, Roycewicz, and Emslie who are all now back at Infinity Ward.

Again, this is not a confirmation (yet) of Call of Duty 2019 being Modern Warfare 4, but given the evidence we’ve gathered so far, it’s all but a lock now.

Are you happy with this news that franchise vets are back to helm this new Modern Warfare game? At the very least, this Call of Duty 2019 game should feel familiar to old school franchise fans, no?

Ubisoft Explains Why There’s No The Division 2 Raid Matchmaking, State of the Game Summary Listed

With Ubisoft rolling out title update #3 earlier this week for The Division 2, not only did Ubisoft Massive release a ton of gameplay improvements, tweaks and more, but it also laid down the groundwork for the game’s first-ever Raid called Operation Dark Hours. Unfortunately, for those who don’t have a lot of friends who play The Division 2, this eight-man event will need to be put on hold until you find a sufficient number of teammates as there will be no The Division 2 Raid matchmaking available — at  least for now.

In today’s State of the Game, Ubisoft explained why The Division 2 Raid matchmaking has been disabled, and here’s why:

We decided to not include matchmaking as we don’t think this will create a good gameplay experience for random groups. The Raid will test your ability to communicate well, have a good build setup and will require great teamwork to beat encounters.

In addition to that quote, here’s a look at the studio’s thinking of why they won’t include The Division 2 Raid matchmaking out of the gate:

  • In general, the players should not look at the raid as another Incursion. The Raid is not something you do randomly – this is something you plan, you organize and you prepare for (builds / roles etc). During the raid, you communicate and then you learn from that experience and do it differently the next time.
  • That is why they want to go with a pre-set and organized group so that you also have a good experience in the raid, you can talk to each other, coordinate and be prepared
  • Especially in the first discovery phase when everybody learns how to beat the raid – they want to emphasize the social aspect and to build something together.
  • But they are also open-minded for future developments, changes, and evolvement of the activity. They don’t take any feedback lightly because the raid is a very important part of The Division 2 – but for the launch of the raid – they want it to be that social and group-building experience.

That’s a bummer, no? For the rest of the State of the Game summary regarding Gear Score, and more, read on below.

Invasion Reset

  • The Weekly Missions were changed that they are no longer random but on a more controlled schedule.
  • The Weekly Invasion will change again on Thursday, so get the Nemesis blueprint now.

Hardwired Gear Set Chest Piece Stat Changes

  • Some attributes were changed on the Hardwired Chest Piece and rerolled on the gear that you already had – that was not included in the patch notes.

Frequent Deltas since TU3

  • Since the release of Title Update 3 they had a more frequent amount of server crashes.
  • This is what they are investigating and try to fix it as soon as possible – especially with the raid coming.

Roosevelt Island progression blocker

  • There are two new progression blockers in Rosevelt island – one with C4 and one with ropes.
  • They are looking into that and try to fix it asap.

Classified Assignment

  • Two of these Classified Assignments have been added to the game with TU3.
  • They are small missions that are available in the Open World.
  • They are narrative and lore driven to explore what happened in Washington D.C. before you arrived there.
  • There are many small collectibles and secrets.
  • You can find the assignment in an area that is marked on the map and then you have to find the mission itself.
  • Classified Assignments are exclusive to Year 1 Pass owner.

Stay tuned for more Operation Dark Hours details hitting the site soon.

Fortnite John Wick Event Details Leaked by Dataminers

Fortnite’s collaborations are becoming quite common. However, one of the most anticipated collaborations is the widely rumored John Wick cross over. Thanks to some dataminers, this Fortnite John Wick event might actually be coming sooner than anybody expected. In fact, the event might be coming to us in a matter of days.

The Fortnite v9.01 patch brought some new leaked information with itself. A John Wick skin, Limited Time Mode Details, and Challenges were discovered for the upcoming cross over event. The John Wick skin features the suit which has been modeled after the original John Wick character. Dataminer Lucas7Yoshi also found the damaged variant of the skin in the game files.

Not only that, but a John Wick Glider and Wrap were also found in the game’s files. However, there isn’t any sort of visual reference. Additionally, Lucas7Yoshi also provided Wick’s Bounty Challenges that are going to be part of the LTM. You can take a look below and see them for yourself:

Furthermore, another leaker has also stated that another John Wick character will be coming during this supposed event. According to HYPEX, the new outfit is actually inspired by Sofia, another prominent John Wick character.

https://twitter.com/HYPEX/status/1128586535702495232

Finally, some dataminers are expecting to see some changes to Fortnite’s maps. In other words, we might see some buildings themed after John Wick as part of the collaboration. Since John Wick’s third film releases this week, maybe Epic Games will release more information about the Fortnite John Wick event pretty soon.

As for now, we will continue to suggest to take these leaks with a grain of salt. While they look pretty convincing, nothing has been announced by Epic Games as of yet. However, an announcement for the event might come to gamers very soon. Of course, we cannot forget about the recent problem with cheaters in the competitive scene.

Sony Signs Deal With Immersion for Haptic Feedback for VR and Gaming Controllers

As some gamers might recall, Immersion and Sony haven’t had the best of relationships. Back in 2002, Immersion sued Sony and Microsoft for patent infringement over vibration functions in game controllers. The lawsuit was settled back in 2007, with Sony paying $97 Million USD in damages. However, it seems like the companies have left their bad blood behind as Sony has recently settled a deal with Immersion.

The details of the deal are still unknown as of now. However, Immersion stated that they have signed an agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment to license Immersion’s advanced haptics patent portfolio and leverage Immersion’s haptics technology for gaming and VR controllers. This event happened after the company settled a patent litigation lawsuit against Samsung.

In the press release, Ramzi Haidamus, President and Chief Executive Officer of Immersion, commented, “I am delighted to report that the successful transformation of Immersion is well under way. All major litigation is now behind us. Customers are once again recognizing the value of the innovative haptics technologies and solutions we deliver.”

The deals that Immersion is making extend to far beyond gaming at this point. “This is an exciting time for Immersion as we lead the development and broad adoption of immersive touch feedback technologies in closer partnership with our customers in the mobility, gaming, automotive, IoT and other markets.” Ramzi said.

This could mean a lot for VR games and PlayStation 5 controllers in the near future. However, we have yet to see what they do with this partnership. In the meantime, we can speculate what kind of crazy controllers Sony will get for their upcoming console. Maybe the players will be graced with a more immersive VR Experience as well. What do you think this announcement means for the future of Sony and the PlayStation 5? Are you excited about this partnership announcement? What do you think the haptics company will add to gaming?

Battlefield 5 Manual Lean to Be Added Soon

While DICE has been very transparent when it comes to the things coming to Battlefield 5, it seems there’s one thing that’s set to come to the game that hasn’t been discussed yet, and it’s that Battlefield 5 manual lean option will be added soon.

While no official announcement has been made so far, it has now since been discovered in a short gameplay video from DICE Engineer Julian Manolov that a Battlefield 5 manual lean option will be added soon-ish.

In case you didn’t see that, here’s a screenshot of the options screen with the “Soldier Leaning” option marked (via Redditr user KillerCh33z):

If Manolov’s tweet is to be taken as is, this should mean that this Battlefield 5 manual lean option should be available in the next game patch, though we don’t know when this will be rolled out.

In other Battlefield 5 news, DICE rolled out a Firestorm matchmaking update yesterday that should help make waiting a lot easier to take in the mode. Multiplayer fans should expect Fortress mode to be available tomorrow according to DICE.

Are you glad that manual leaning will be added to the game or it doesn’t matter much?

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Story Trailer Shows Us the Global Threat

While we’ve seen a good portion of Ghost Recon Breakpoint gameplay at its reveal, Ubisoft has released a new trailer now, and this one focus on the shooter’s story. As one might expect, this Ghost Recon Breakpoint story trailer doesn’t have a lot of gameplay (it doesn’t show a second of it, in fact), but there’s a lot of talking and hints at what’s to come.

As technology races forward and overtakes human capability, what happens when it’s used for the wrong intentions?

Tom Clancy’s Ghost® Recon Breakpoint is a military shooter set in a diverse, hostile, and mysterious open world that you can play entirely solo or in four-player co-op. Injured, without support, and hunted down by ex-Ghosts, you must fight to survive while lost in Auroa. Choose the right alliances and decide how to take down your toughest enemy.

For more on Ghost Recon Breakpoint, check out the list of gameplay info that’s been confirmed by Ubisoft. Don’t forget to also check out the different editions of the game, with the higher tier ones letting you play it early.

Days Gone Review – A Whole New Freaker World

The world has changed. No longer populated by normal humans, but instead creatures. Freakers people call them. They’re vicious, vile, full of rage and move in numbers. These are not the typical zombies we’ve come to expect. These are living, mutated people. They eat, they sleep, and they feed on anything and everything. They have no fear and they attack anything living. The world has forever been change by this mutation outbreak. This is Days Gone and the story of Deacon St John.

The World Collapsed

In Bend Studios’ new IP, the earth has been seemingly ravaged by some sort of infection. One that is changing and mutating people into something far worse.  Here, Deacon St John is the main character who gamers will play as as he explores the beautiful and dangerous Oregon. While settling on a mission to escape north with his best friend Boozer, trouble arises. Before this biker duo can leave, Boozer is hurt and the plans get altered. This eventually leads Deacon to whole new plot of discovering just how the infection came to be, what happened to his missing wife, and features lots of twists and turns in the story.

That said, Days Gone is filled to the brim with lots of revealing plot elements. Cinematics that showcase some fantastic acting from the likes of Sam Witwer and the rest of the cast. With cutscenes that showcase both the current timeline and the past. This does a great job of filling in the backstory with Deacon and his wife Sarah, even if the first hours feel a little rough in presentation. Meanwhile during the present time, details showcasing Deacon as a man with issues, but one that struggles and hasn’t left all his humanity in the past. He lives to survive in a world that wants him and others dead. Yet he still finds a way to help those in need. It’s great to see Deacon evolve as a character through the 35+ hour campaign. Instead of growing tired of the plot or development, I only continued to find myself lost in Deacons tale.

Fight or Run

An enthralling story or characters can help push a narrative players love to experience but the gameplay has to hook them in.  Days Gone, in essence, is a typical open world game. Featuring a huge map, main missions, side quests, and random events peppered throughout the map.  Anyone familiar with the open world genre will feel right at home. Meanwhile anyone that has potentially burned out on this style, might feel a pang of déjà vu. Days Gone doesn’t exactly re-invent the wheel, but it does provide quite a few interest elements to make it stick out from the rest.

Days Gone provides a good mixture of action, exploration, stealth, and tasks Deacon will perform. From protecting innocent people, scrounging for supplies, and to taking out a camps of marauders. There are plenty of variations, even with some of these elements repeating over time, which is to be expected in these types of open world affairs. Overall, there tends to feel like a fine balance between all these elements but that is also up to player’s discretion on how they want to proceed.

Combat is engaging and exciting if not a bit loose feeling. Perhaps even feeling a bit unfair at the start. While combat does seem typical to other third-person games with cover and “slow down” aiming mechanics, the crafting on the fly is reminiscent of something like The Last of Us. Deacon will constantly need to raid old buildings and vehicles in order to craft things like Molotov cocktails, pipe bombs, or critical lifesaving medicine. As Deacon continues to fight and complete missions, he will gain experience and skill points as he levels up. These points get dumped into three different tree categories, ranged, melee, and survival. This is where combat really starts to improve and with better weapons, Deacon becomes a killing machine of sorts as he attacks and sneaks his way through the world. As players once felt weak, they will continue to get stronger, able to tackle more of the dangers that come at them. The most impressive thing being the horde though. Massive groups of 100+ freakers that will herd together destroying anything in their way. Alarming these groups will lead to many dangerous moments of running to survive, at least until Deacon can build himself up to fight back. These moments provide some of the best engaging, thrilling, and terrifying moments of survival in the game and will be remembered as one of its most striking features.

While there will be plenty of exploration on foot, another unique aspect to Days Gone is the motorcycle. While some might see it as just a machine, the player will bond with this much like the horse in Red Dead Redemption 2. Deacon needs to take care of his bike, repairing it with scrap when it gets damaged. He also needs to ensure he has gas to enable both driving around and fast travel. Finding gas is never that hard in Days Gone but running out can lead to some of the most dynamic moments of unscripted gameplay. Upgrading the bike, just like Deacon, enables better controls, handling, and gas consumption. In another unique spin, players have to be near their bike in order to save the game. The bike becomes a secondary character to the player even if it doesn’t seem so obvious at first. Riding around the Oregon setting is both exciting and enthralling, with handling that eventually reminded me of playing Excite Bike of all things.

Visually, Days Gone is mostly a stunner and a positive one with the highlights being the world that Sony Bend Studio has crafted here. From lush forests, dark caverns, abandoned towns, creepy mines, and the beautiful skies. This alone will keep many folks indulging in exploring the world. It doesn’t hurt that the game feature a robust photo mode which will make virtual photography players very happy. Deacon looks fantastic as well, retaining Sam Witwers charming looks but with a more rugged biker style, of course. While other characters look similarly good, some obviously didn’t get the care Deacon did, which is a bit understandable. Meanwhile the creature’s players will run into look scary, gross, and terrifying at times. Days Gone not only features human freakers but wild animals such as bears, wolves, cougars and crows that have been infected also. This also goes hand in hand with the audio design, which sees some fantastic sound effects with guns, animals, and ambient audio in the world. Meanwhile most of the characters and cast bring the story and world to life in the mostly believable way. This is all rounded off with a wonderful score composed by Nathan Whitehead that delivers both exciting and emotional cords, that even now has me listening to it outside of when playing the game.

Better Days

It’s no surprise that I’ve come away from Days Gone loving it as much as I do, being a long time zombie apocalypse fan. That’s not to say that I walked away from it completely happy. There are a few things I found could have been smoothed out a bit more. For example, Deacon St John doesn’t slide down ladders. A minor complaint but when almost every other video game protagonist does this nowadays, it was a weird omission. Other little oddities don’t stop there. Another great example is Deacons flashlight, it simple doesn’t exist on his character model yet players will be using the light often. While there are plenty of great missions throughout the campaign, there are a few that are as simple as going to a character, seeing a short scene and that’s it — mission done.  I can only question why some of these design decisions were chosen but they are minor. Also the AI, which is mostly competent, at times it just seems to go a bit brain dead. Being able to easily walk behind someone in plain view. Also animals that can sometimes get stuck or be extremely no engaging while you blast them away. These felt a lot more sporadic.

The bigger concerns are system performance and some oddities in cutscene delivery. Days Gone isn’t the most polished game. It has framerate stutters mostly when driving around the map and occasionally in camps or during loading. Missions will bug out at times, requiring a checkpoint restart. I never personally experienced anything game breaking, but the farther into the game I got, the worse the performance was. Also noticeable was the audio de-syncing from some cutscenes. I understand that almost everyone will have a different experience with open world bugs, but Days Gone seems to have them a little bit more than some others.

Apocalypse NOW

It’s apparent how much love and care Bend Studios has put into Days Gone to bring players into their new vision of the apocalypse. The game does have a slow burn and it’s unfortunate that some players might not see it to the end. Those that stick with Deacon St John though will experience an escalating story, gameplay elements, tension, and emotion as it all builds to an exciting conclusion. Regardless of the technically issues, Days Gone kept me absolutely captivated from start to finish. It’s THE zombie style open world game I’ve always dreamed of, and I can’t think of any better endorsement than that.

Overall score: 8.0

Pros:

  • Great visuals
  • Combat options
  • Atmosphere
  • Story

Cons:

  • Tech issues
  • AI problems
  • Pacing

Fortnite World Cup Cheaters Caught Colluding During Solo Qualifiers

Fortnite’s competitive scene offers extremely appealing prizes for the best players. Unfortunately, some players will not hesitate to use prohibited methods to achieve victory for this very reason. While action has been taken against cheaters in competitive play, it doesn’t seem to be quite enough to prevent cheating in higher levels of play as of yet. Fortnite World Cup cheaters definitely have begun rising up against the best interests of the competitive scene.

As such, new accusations of cheaters during the Fortnite Cup Solo qualifiers have risen. The alleged cheaters are players known as Yermpy and Oro. The players are accused of teaming up during Week 5’s finals by purposefully avoiding to shoot each other during the match. Twitch streamer Phillidown caught the moment of the incident, take a look:

The Competitive Fortnite subreddit has also agreed that the aforementioned cheaters have shown signs of suspicious behavior. For those unaware, Fortnite Cup has made a rule against Collusion behavior during Solo qualifiers. In other words, teaming up with another member during the qualifiers was against the rules.

Multiple clips of the players have shown how Yermpy and Oro often avoided shooting each other. In fact, the clip below shows Oro having a clear shot at Yermpy who is under 50HP and purposefully avoiding to shoot him. This goes on until another player lands and is quickly eliminated by Yermpy and Oro.

Unfortunately, it seems like the Fortnite competitive scene continues to see detrimental behaviors such as this. Let’s not forget that Fortnite World Cup has recently gotten off the heels of an incident regarding a player who had his friends feed eliminations for him. The future of Fortnite eSports is looking quite grim at the moment.

Fortnite is currently available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game has received cross play between the Nintendo Switch and Mobile versions. Not only that, but it seems like there will be a respawn feature added to the game really soon.

Battlefield 5 Firestorm Matchmaking Update Rolled Out by DICE

For fans of Battlefield 5 battle royale fans, you’ll want to read this. Today, DICE has rolled out a server-side Battlefield 5 Firestorm update that helps in the overall quality of life of the mode.

Here’s the full Battlefield 5 Firestorm matchmaking update notes. Remember: this is a server-side update, so there’s no need to download anything.

? The 60 second pre-round timer now activates when 32 players are connected, and have loaded into the lobby.

? Said timer will now instantly skip to 10 seconds when 64 players have loaded in.

? We’ve also reduced the number of players required to create a lobby in Firestorm. These will spawn without a timer until 32 players have connected.

In other Battlefield 5 news, Fortress mode will be deployed by DICE sometime this week! Check out the rest of the week’s official news and announcements right here. Regarding Firestorm, DICE will introduce three new locations, and the mode’s first-ever Gold Tier weapon later this month.

Red Dead 2 Update 1.09 Patch Notes List the Major Additions to Red Dead Online

Cowboys and cowgirls, turn on your consoles and fire up Red Dead Redemption 2! Rockstar Games has rolled out Red Dead 2 update 1.09, and it has TON of stuff added to Red Dead Online! There are new missions, in-game world updates, and even new gambling stuff!

Clocking in at a hefty 3.30GB on PS4, check out the details of this Red Dead 2 update 1.09 patch notes below straight via the press release:

New Co-Op Missions:

A Land of Opportunities – After the epic showdown in Fort Mercer that concluded the last series of missions, players will help Mrs LeClerk get closer to the truth behind the murder of her husband. In the more honorable Gunslinger path, battle the Del Lobos gang and help Marshall Tom Davies save Valentine – and his own neck.

Free Roam Missions:

New characters from the story of RDR2 – Free Roam Missions also expand today with new characters from the story of Red Dead Redemption 2 and a variety of new and diverse mission types. Bring your Posse to meet with Thomas the Skiff Captain down in Bayou Nwa for some honest work or visit the disconcertingly hospitable Aberdeen Pig Farmers to get your hands extremely dirty, and look out for more characters to appear soon.

Posse Versus Challenges:

Competitive fishing is now available on-demand in one of three new Posse Versus Challenges. Posse leaders can simply use the Player Menu to trigger intra-Posse competitions to reel in the biggest catch before the timer runs out in the Biggest Fish Contest, down the most flying birds in the Bird Shooting Contest, or gather the most plants in the Herb Picking Contest.

Dynamic Events

As you make your way across the frontier, you may happen across townsfolk and travelers in need of assistance, or opportunists looking to prey on lone riders. Stay sharp and keep an eye out, many of these encounters offer XP, Honor, Cash and even Gold rewards.

Poker:

Visit poker tables at towns and outposts across the map to challenge your friends to a private, invite-only game of Hold ’Em. Or, raise the stakes and take a seat at a public table, where the buy-ins and rewards are even higher. All poker tables seat up to 6 players, available in 5 locations: Blackwater, Saint Denis, Tumbleweed, Valentine and Flatneck Station.

Overrun Showdown Mode

Mark your territory and lay claim to as much land as you can, working your way behind enemy lines to capture territory from your opponents while defending what’s yours. Whoever holds the most land at the end of this new Showdown Mode wins.

New Items:

Boasting a 9-round revolving chamber and a secondary barrel for a single buckshot round, switch between rapid-fire bullets and a devastating shotgun shell on the fly with the LeMat Revolver – now available for purchase from the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue.

More clothing items and emotes are also available, featuring some highly-requested clothing options including Ponchos, patterned Bandanas and more – as well as new emotes such as Throat Slit and Flip Off. New inventory will be coming and going often so check the Catalogue frequently to see what’s in stock week-to-week.

In addition, all players who jump into Red Dead Online this week will get a gift of 15 Gold Bars and see a 25% increase of XP on A Land of Opportunities, Free Roam Missions, Showdown Modes, Races and Free Roam Events. Treasure hunters will also find 25% extra Cash and Gold in chests containing them. All Ultimate Edition owners will also get a gift of RDO$100 and the Throat Slit emote for free.

Offensive and Defensive Playing Styles:

The Offensive playing style is set as the default and is how most players traditionally interact in Free Roam – free to engage in hostile contact with other players if you are prepared to accept the potential consequences.

The Defensive play style is for those players who would rather explore the world in Free Roam than engage in conflict with others – and it’s designed to let other players know that you don’t want to tangle with them, as well as minimize opportunities for griefing. At the same time, Defensive players will not be alerted to PvP Free Roam missions and can not be pulled into them while in Defensive mode, allowing them to go about their business as freely as possible.

Players in Defensive mode will be indicated by a shield icon, will take reduced damage from enemy players, cannot be lassoed, melee attacked, executed or targeted with auto-aim. Defensive players will also be excluded from being targeted in PvP-related missions such as Player Assassination. Those who attack Defensive players receive hefty penalties via the Hostility system, while players who initiate conflict while in Defensive mode will be instantly pulled out of Defensive mode and also receive similar Hostility penalties.

Hostility System Update:

Today’s updates also build on the player radar and visibility improvements introduced in February to create a smarter and more responsive approach to mitigating griefing behavior. The Hostility System tracks aggressive behavior across both Playing Styles, making hostile players visible to others and helping to balance the needs of players who want to get away from others who habitually attack or kill during unstructured Free Roam gameplay.

As before, player blips change color – beginning dark blue and transitioning to red as their hostile play persists. A bright red blip indicates an enemy. With today’s update, players will never receive Hostility or Bounty increases for defending themselves against a player who is blipped as an enemy, or for killing high Hostility players. If a player attacks another player, they will not be marked as an enemy to everyone – but rather to the attacked player only, who will not receive a penalty for firing back.

You can view your current Hostility level through the Player Menu. As you become more hostile, you become more visible on other player’s radars at longer distances and will respawn further and further away from your point of death – at the highest level of Hostility, you will respawn in a different region.

Hostility increases do not apply within structured events such as Free Roam Events, Free Roam Missions, Showdowns and Races. Engaging in PvP behaviors related to Free Roam missions will not incur Hostility increases while in the Offensive playing style, however attacking other players not engaged in the activity will cause your Hostility level to rise.

Balancing and Improvements:

In order to improve the overall gameplay experience, we have made some significant changes to Red Dead Online:

Removed Auto-Aim Headshot Tracking (Enemy Players Only): This subtle but important change affects the way players can earn headshots against rival players. While auto-aim still tracks to the center mass of an enemy player, you will no longer be able to simply flick up on the Right Stick to gain a headshot. This makes earning headshots slightly more challenging, which in turn makes competitive gameplay such as Showdown series more rewarding and balanced.

Faster Weapon Swaps/Instant Projectile Lighting: We have increased the speed of weapon swaps across the board, including instant projectile lighting to make throwing fire bottles and dynamite faster.

New Control Scheme – “FPS2”: In response to community feedback we’ve added a new control scheme FPS2 (+variants). This follows our ‘FPS’ layout but moves sprint to [R1] and crouch to [X]. (This option is available in both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online).

Daily Challenge Updates: In response to your feedback, we’ve removed all PvP-related Daily Challenges from Free Roam and added a number of new Daily Challenges and Rewards, including Challenge Streaks with progressively increasing Gold rewards.

New Awards: Several new awards in Free Roam have been added including awards associated with the latest gameplay.

Global Signal Timers: Players tackling Free Roam Missions will have a bit more flexibility to operate with an increased global signal timer and a reduced range at which players are signaled.

Press Charges: When a lower Hostility player is killed without retaliating they will have an option to “Press Charges” during the respawn period, which will enforce an increase on their attacker’s Hostility and Bounty value. Press Charges is not available if you are a high Hostility player or marked as an enemy to the player who killed you.

Horse Specialty Selection: You can now use the Player Menu to preset which of your owned horses you would like to use in Free Roam, Races, Showdown Modes and on missions.

Increased Gold Payouts: We have adjusted the economy to increase Gold payouts across the board, with most Gold-earning activities now awarding up to double the previous amount. Starting today for a limited time, players will also receive 1 Gold Bar per rank they progress.

What’s Coming Next:

In the weeks ahead, more additions to Red Dead Online include new Free Roam characters, as well as new Showdown modes and lots more. This includes new Free Roam Missions and Clothing for both PS4 and Xbox One next week on May 21st, along with new PS4 Early Access content (keep an eye on the PlayStation Blog for more details soon).

Then on May 28th, look for the new Head for the Hills Showdown Mode, the Wild Animal Kills Competitive Free Roam Challenge and more. Followed by the Public Enemy Showdown Mode and Railroad Baron Free Roam Event, where players capture cars on a moving train, on June 4th. June 11th’s update includes the Sport of Kings Showdown Mode, plus new limited-time and permanent clothing additions to the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue.

Also keep an eye out for weekly bonuses like RDO$ and Gold gifts, increased payouts, care packages, exclusive gifts and more.

Coming This Summer:

Staring this summer, players of Red Dead Online will be able to take on the first three of a series of new roles: bounty hunter, collector, and as a trader. Each role will come with their own twist on gameplay, and will bring in new outfits, weapons and rewards. Players will be able to focus on a specific role to advance it faster, and unlock that role’s unique skills and attributes, or they can opt to try all of ’em out to create your own unique character.
