For Honor Marching Fire Out Now, Watch the Trailer and Here’s What’s in It

In a press release, Ubisoft announced that For Honor Marching Fire is now available on all platforms. This is considered For Honor’s largest game update so far, which includes new PvP and PvE modes, new features and even a graphics overhaul! Aside from the graphics, the newest and biggest addition to Marching Fire is the introduced of the Chinese faction Wu Lin, which includes four new heroes.

The Marching Fire expansion, available now for players who already own For Honor, will grant instant and two-week early access to the four new Wu Lin Heroes: the Jiang Jun, a feared general using his guandao to wreak havoc; the Nuxia, a bodyguard using her hook swords to slay anyone who stands in her way; the Shaolin, a warrior monk spreading the gospel with his staff and the Tiandi, master of the Dao blade. All four Wu Lin Heroes will be available to be unlocked by all players using in-game Steel on October 30, with each Hero valued at 15,000 Steel.

Marching Fire expansion owners will also receive exclusive access to Arcade mode, a new quick-play PvE mode that offers new challenges through randomly generated situations. Arcade mode is the perfect place for players to explore new Heroes and improve their reputations before taking them into PvP, or players who want more solo content after completing the Story mode. Players who own the Marching Fire expansion will also be able to invite other For Honor players to join them for co-op in Arcade mode, even if that friend does not own the expansion.

In addition, the Marching Fire update brings exciting free new content to all For Honor players, including Breach, a strategic 4v4 PvP match that allows players to live the fantasy of storming or protecting a well-fortified castle; enhanced graphics to improve in-game textures; a revamped lighting system with new sky gradients and several quality-of-life improvements and features, including Victory Celebration screen, Team Voice Chat and UI changes. For players who do not yet own For Honor, the For Honor Marching Fire Edition which includes the base game and the Marching Fire expansion, is also available now on digital stores.

How are you liking Marching Fire so far?

PSN Down for Some Users, Sony Says Some Services Are Experiencing Issues

If you can’t connect to any online game at the moment, it’s fine. It’s not your connection, but rather, PSN down time is here (sadly) once again. This was reported on by multiple people over at Reddit, though some people can log on just fine (depends on where you’re located).

On Twitter, the official Ask PlayStation account confirmed that yep, it’s PSN down time for a lot of people.

The PlayStation Network status page states that “some services are experiencing issues,” which include account management, and gaming and social.

Once PSN is back up, we’ll update the post. This is the worst time to hit as Sony is just now recovering from the PS4 message glitch that plagued gamers last week.

Is PSN down for you? If so, let us know in the comments.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Update Brings 100-Player Blackout Duos & More

Treyarch has once again rolled out a new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update (no, not the “larger” one the studio hinted at yesterday), and this one brings TDM back to parties of six instead of five! It also changes the featured playlists and more.

Check out the Black Ops 4 update rolled out via hotfix below (via Reddit):

We’ve made the following changes to the game today (Global):

  • General
    • General stability improvements and crash fixes.
    • The Featured playlist tiles for Multiplayer and Blackout have changed today. This is part of the regular rotation of Featured playlists – more details to come on how Featured playlists will work in Black Ops 4 in a separate update.
  • Blackout
    • 100-Player Duos
      • 100-Players Duos is now the Featured playlist for Blackout.
    • 88-Player Quads
      • Quads playlist is now 88 maximum players. We’re continuing to update various game settings to ensure the best experience for all players across all platforms and modes.
  • Multiplayer
    • Playlist Updates
      • TDM playlist now supports parties of 6 (was previously 5).
      • Featured playlist changed to Heist.
    • Custom Games
      • Custom Search and Destroy games will now correctly conclude after one team wins 6 rounds total, fixing an issue where custom games previously ended at round 7.
    • Miscellaneous
      • Addressed a crash caused by earning multiple Medals in a match.
  • Zombies
    • Addressed a UI error caused by losing Internet connection in split screen.

We’ve also made the following additional update specific to PC:

  • Stability Improvements
    • Fixed a crash occurring during initial boot of the game for some users.
    • Fixed a crash when disconnecting from a Blackout match.
    • Fixed a crash occurring when managing multiple windows simultaneously in Blackout.
    • Fixed a crash when browsing unlockable Items.
    • Fixed crashes occurring when changing texture quality.
    • Fixed a performance issue when changing Clan tags.
    • Improved handling of “Out of Memory” errors.
    • Additional stability fixes listed in today’s update from /u/TreyarchPChttps://www.reddit.com/r/Blackops4/comments/9oqgsd/call_of_duty_black_ops_4_pc_updates/
  • Zombies
    • Addressed an issue that caused Hellhounds to exhibit some very… un-doglike behavior in Zombies.
  • Miscellaneous
    • “Object View Distance” setting now properly renders objects further on “High” than on “Low” in Blackout.

In addition to the topics listed in our previous updates over the past week, we’re currently tracking the following recent topics:

  • Zombies Easter Egg Quests
    • We’re aware of some instability issues currently affecting the Easter Egg quests, and will address these in a major update coming soon. Thanks for your patience.
  • Multiplayer Audio
    • We’ve seen some reports of audio volumes in Multiplayer not sounding quite as expected, particularly with footsteps. We’ve passed these onto the appropriate teams for evaluation. In the meantime, please be sure to try out the different custom presets in our Audio settings under Options to find a mix that works best for you.
  • PC Hellion Salvo Crash
    • PC players will currently crash when equipping the “Hunt” weapon camo and Fast Lock attachment on the Hellion Salvo launcher. We’re fixing this in an upcoming update – in the meantime, please avoid using this camo/Attachment combination on the Hellion Salvo to prevent crashing.
  • Teammate Names Disappearing
    • Some players are reportedly seeing their teammates’ player names disappearing temporarily during MP matches, making it difficult to tell friend from foe. We’re investigating this as well.
  • Xbox One Deluxe Edition Items
    • We’re aware some users are still having trouble accessing their Shadowman and Classified content consistently on Xbox One, even after manually downloading the items. We’re continuing to investigate to see what can be done on our end to solve this.

If you need some help, don’t forget to check out our top five Specialists that are easy to use list.

YouTuber Fortnite Cheater Is Being Sued by Epic Games

Thinking of cheating at Fortnite and streaming it? That might not be a good idea. Epic Games, developer and the company that owns Fortnite, is now suing a YouTuber for cheating at the game, and profiteering from it.

YouTube channel Golden Modz, who’s operated by a Brandon Lucas, streams himself cheating at Fortnite, and even runs a website where he sells ways for people to cheat as well. One of the things Lucas sells is an aimbot for Fortnite, which everyone know’s played a multiplayer game online knows about (it auto-aims at enemies, usually translating to automatic headshots).

While Epic Games has refrained from commenting on active legal cases, the company did share the following statement:

When cheaters use aimbots or other cheat technologies to gain an unfair advantage, they ruin games for people who are playing fairly. We take cheating seriously, and we’ll pursue all available options to make sure our games are fun, fair, and competitive for players.

In a new video by Lucas, he laments why he’s being used by Epic Games, and adds, “I’m confused because there’s about a thousand other content creators on YouTube that make Fortnite content.” Lucas cites that others are also using hacks “without repercussions.”

As someone who doesn’t condone cheating in any game, I’m hoping this is a lesson for those who wants to cheat or thinking of profiteering from cheating since it ruins the experience for everyone. If you want to cheat, maybe do it where you won’t affect other people’s fun?

In other Fortnite news, Epic gas released a new patch earlier today that introduces a new vehicle, and tournaments into the game.

Sony Says the PS4 Message Glitch Issue That Locked Consoles Is Now Fixed

Just this weekend, we posted a big story wherein PlayStation 4 consoles were getting soft-locked by receiving a message. While we posted what the image looks like and even a workaround, it seems Sony has fixed this PS4 message glitch without needing a firmware update!

Over on Twitter, the official Ask PlayStation UK account (via The Verge) mentioned to a user that they’ve “fixed” the issue.

While Sony says it is fixed, some people on the PS4 subreddit community are saying that it’ll need a proper firmware update to really mend it. If it’s still happening and you know about it, don’t hesitate to email us at tips@mp1st.com so we can help spread the word.

In other, more positive, PlayStation news, Sony has announced that PSN username change feature is finally becoming a reality!

GENERAL

WEAPONS+ITEMS

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed small props accidentally blocking Trap placement.

PERFORMANCE

  • If your PS4 Pro is plugged into a 4K TV, the game now renders at 1440p instead of 1080p.
  • Audio memory optimizations for Xbox.
  • Physics optimizations for cosmetic items.

KNOWN ISSUES

Wanting to track the top community issues? Head over to our Fortnite | Community Issues Trello board here.

BATTLE ROYALE

LIMITED TIME MODE: DISCO DOMINATION

Summary
It’s time for the ultimate dance-off. Dance Floors have spawned around the Battle Royale island. Take them over by clearing out any enemies and then dancing to raise a disco ball up from the floor. The team that fills their meter the fastest by capturing and defending the dance floors will win the match!

What’s New?

  • Reduced all bandage spawns by 50%.
  • Removed all Common weapons.
  • increased the variability of where you can spawn by 30% along your sides storm circle.
  • Brought in the side dance floors closer to the Storm edge.
  • Reduced max respawn distance by 20%.

WEAPONS + ITEMS

  • The Port-a-Fortress has been disabled as we work to resolve some issues related to this item.
    • Drop rate for Port-a-Fort increased from 3.05% to 4.89% while Port-a-Fortress is disabled.
      • The goal is to keep the drop rate of Port-a-Fort the same as if both items were enabled to help with the completion of Challenges.

Bug Fixes

  • Guided Missile no longer fires the wrong direction
  • Players will no longer permanently attach to a Supply Drop when grappling to it.
  • Attempting to fire while reloading the Double Barrel Shotgun will no longer interrupt the animation.
  • Weapon equip animations no longer skip when simultaneously attempting to sprint and target.

GAMEPLAY

  • Quadcrasher
    • Seats two players.
    • You build boost just by driving. Unleash that speed with the hotkey once you’ve filled your boost meter.
    • Smash through buildings while boosting.
    • Boost off ramps or cliffs to catch sick air.
    • Launch players into the air by smashing into them.
  • You can now view and change Edit Controls separately from Combat and Build Controls in the controller menu.
  • PS4 controller lighting will match player marker color.
  • You can now set building mode sensitivity for controllers in the options menu. It is a multiplier on the default controller sensitivity and allows up to a 2x increase.
  • Controller sensitivity slider in the options menu now allows for more than 10 values.
  • Added an option to Builder Pro that allows for building as soon as you switch to the piece, instead of selecting first and then placing. This allows for faster building without a preview.
  • Added an option that allows for edit hold timing to be adjusted.
  • Opening the Emote Picker with a controller will happen when the button is released, while holding the button will replay the emote that was last played.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed inconsistencies with the damage trap not triggering properly.
  • Allow slight movement when using a consumable with Sprint by Default enabled. This will help match how it works without Sprint by Default enabled
  • Fixed problem with character orientation getting stuck after falling off the island in a vehicle.

EVENTS

  • Tournaments can be found inside of the new ‘Events’ tab available in game.  This tab will host a variety of online competitions which are open to everyone.  Jump in and explore!
    • Each tournament has a series of scheduled dates and times that the competition will be run. A carousel of all upcoming competitions and times will be available for browsing, so you can plan and practice.
    • Every scheduled session is a completely clean slate with all players starting on an equal footing at the beginning of play.
    • Compete over the course of several hours to earn points by eliminating multiple opponents or surviving against the competition.
    • Players are matched against opponents with similar scores during the session.
    • Score enough points during any scheduled event session and you’ll earn a golden pin for that tournament!

PERFORMANCE

  • Weapon replication optimization for dedicated server to reduce load during rapid weapon switching.
  • We’ve made CPU performance optimizations on Switch across all threads. This results in a smoother gameplay experience and fewer hitches.
  • Improve multi-threading during heavy physics simulation.

AUDIO

  • Celebrate with style. The music selected in your Locker will now play after getting a Victory Royale!
  • Remove the Doppler effect from the audio when players are gliding.
  • Added an in-air loop to Grenade Launcher projectiles so you can spatialize where they’re coming from.
  • Improved Grenade Launcher bouncing audio.
  • Reduced volume of medium-range Grenade explosion sound.

Bug Fixes

  • Cube ambient sounds no longer randomly play in the middle of matches.
  • Sequential explosion sounds no longer interrupt each other.
  • Added missing audio to the Compact SMG and SMG medium/distant fire sounds.
  • Audio ‘pops’ no longer occur when emote music loops.
  • Re-added the audio cue that plays before a new wave of Supply Drops start appearing.

UI

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed some touch issues for the controller mapping screen on Switch.
  • Fixed a bug where the player’s banner in the top bar would not update when changing the banner in the locker.
  • Made the reticle hidden when skydiving.
  • Fixed issues with the display of the on-screen map and inventory inputs.
  • Fixed issues with touch functionality on the map for the Nintendo Switch
  • Resource buttons no longer cancel auto-run.

  • Fixed visual display issues with cosmetic music items..
  • Animation pops no longer occur while in the air after using the Chiller trap.

REPLAY SYSTEM

  • Fixed an issue where firing guided missiles would start with the camera facing the wrong way in replays.

MOBILE

  • Major performance improvement for devices running Android 7 or earlier.
  • Memory improvements on iOS devices.
  • The first weapon you pick up will now auto-equip itself on mobile.
  • Touch control input now has smoothing enabled.
  • Tapping selected buttons on the build quickbar will once again build the selected build piece.
  • All elements in the Mobile HUD should now be placeable/movable in the HUD Layout Tool.
  • Updated visuals for independent Quickbar slots in the HUD Layout Tool.

Bug Fixes

  • Drag and dropping on the Quickbar will no longer select the thing you drag. Players can now adjust their inventory without interrupting other actions.
  • Fixing a bug causing some touch input to fall through the settings screen to gameplay.
  • Fixing edit button visibility issues when crouching on Mobile.

SAVE THE WORLD

MISSIONS + SYSTEMS

  • Power Level Restrictions
    • The minimum power ratings on missions are now enforced depending on the privacy setting of your party.
      • If your match is set to “Public” then the lowest power rating in your party (ignoring any party boost) will determine which missions are available and which are locked.
      • If your match is set to “Private” or “Friends Only” then the group leader’s personal power rating is used instead.
    • This prevents low-level players from being brought up into public high-level missions where they cannot contribute fully to the group, while maintaining the ability for friends to privately play together in high-level areas if they choose.
    • All Plankerton missions now have a minimum personal power rating requirement.
    • All Storm Shield Defense missions in Plankerton and above now have minimum personal power rating requirements.
Recommended Power Rating Minimum Power Rating (Normal Mission) Minimum Power Rating (Group Mission)
19 15 15
23 15 19
28 19 23
34 23 28
40 28 34
  • Rebalanced the reward points granted by Missions relative to the average length and difficulty of the mission type.
    • This results in high-level end of mission “treasure chests” being harder to achieve in certain mission types, especially without bonus objectives.
    • To offset this we increased the amount of rewards given per point, effectively increasing mission rewards for the majority of mission types.

Bug Fixes

  • Portraits of Someone Special quest now uses the correct zone difficulty.
  • Models that were intended to be invisible will no longer appear in-game.
  • Mega Alerts now have a chance to include the Nature Element modifier.
  • Fixed an issue where some mission types had their rewards incorrectly limited.
    • This issue resulted in many optional mission objectives increasing the “treasure chest” level displayed at the end of the mission, without increasing the actual rewards granted to the players.

PERFORMANCE

  • Selecting a Defender for a Defender Pad no longer causes a hitch on the first attempt.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed crash caused by projectiles while loading into a zone.
  • Fixed a crash on Xbox related to particle systems.

HEROES

Bug Fixes

  • Tail of the Dragon’s Trail is now visible.
  • Adjusted Lefty and Righty camera to be consistent with similar weapons.
  • Hammer Critical Chance Support Squad bonuses now display correctly in weapon tooltips.
  • Fixed an issue that caused players to get stuck when they hit a Smasher or Riot Husky with Bull Rush.

WEAPONS + ITEMS

  • Rat King Assault Rifle added to the Weekly Store.
    • Semi automatic slug rifle that fires powerful rounds. Effective as a mid range rifle with a slow fire rate.
    • Available Wednesday, October 17 at 8 PM ET until Wednesday, October 24 at 8 PM ET.
  • Grave Digger Assault Rifle has returned and been added to the Weekly Store.
    • A spooky assault rifle that fires medium ammo. Gains damage and impact at the cost of accuracy and fire rate.
    • Available Wednesday, October 17 at 8 PM ET until Wednesday, October 24 at 8 PM ET.
  • Added Dupe Prevention for Mythic Lead Survivors.
    • When a Llama rolls a Mythic Lead Survivor it will select one that is not already present in your inventory or your Collection Book.
    • If you have all of the Mythic Lead Survivors then it will select one at random.
    • Note that if a Llama offers a choice between two Mythic leads, it restricts the result to a specific type of lead, potentially resulting in a duplicate if you already have all Mythic leads of the selected types.
  • Player Jump Pads no longer consumes space in the Armory.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the following weapons to have the correct craft time:
    • Hacksaw
    • Lynx
    • Grave Digger
    • Ground Pounder
    • Whisper .45
    • Silenced Specter
    • Specter
    • Quad Launcher
  • Lead Sled no longer stops attacking when the attack button is held.

GAMEPLAY

  • We’ve introduced a new type of Mission Alert: Beta Storms!
    • Beta Storms are an avenue for testing all kinds of new content. This gives us a chance to see what you think of new content and experimental ideas.
    • Beta Storms are a limited-time Mission Alert. They’ll only stick around for a week or two, and then they’re gone.
    • This week, we’ve introduced a Retrieve the Data Beta Storm, along with a quest line with escalating rewards for trying out the Beta Storm.
      • In this new version of Retrieve the Data you are under pressure as the Storm closes in on the balloon’s landing spot.  The Storm will cause damage to you and force the combat into a smaller area when defending the Data. The mission is 20 minutes long and the only way to get the maximum reward is to shoot down the balloon as soon as allowed.
      • This Beta Storm ends when the v6.20 update arrives, so try it out while it’s available.

Bug Fixes

  • Player character models no longer remain in-game after leaving a mission while in the downed state.
  • Players no longer lose the ability to use heavy melee and other abilities after respawning.
  • Fixed leap attack on the Walloper not focusing on the Riot Husky.
  • Riot Husky now triggers traps.
  • Ammo/resource collection audio cues no longer play when collecting fragment shards or using certain abilities.
  • Fixed Tactical and Support hero squad perks being incorrectly applied to Defenders.

UI

Bug Fixes

  • There are no longer missing gamepad button prompts for some controller configurations in the tutorial announcement of the first Storm Shield Defense.
  • Collection book context menu no longer closes prematurely on consoles.
  • Unopened card pack counter now shows the correct amount of pack counts in the UI.

AUDIO

  • Added storm sounds for player is transitioning in/out of the storm and taking damage
  • Added countdown music for Fight the Storm missions
  • Updated sounds for Shocktower impacts and Shockwave ability trigger

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed bug with music changing when receiving rewards in main menu
  • Fixed audio issue with Teddy’s VO double triggering
  • Fixed bug with teleport sounds not playing when leaving mission
  • Fixed music with High Threat music not ending when enemies are destroyed

Steam Active Users Now at Over 45 Million Daily

While most big studios focus on console gamers when it comes to AAA releases, the PC market is and always will be a big market as well. Of course, when it comes to PC gaming, there’s a platform synonymous with it, and that’s Steam.

Almost every gaming PC and laptop today has Steam installed as the primary online retailer that everyone uses, and the Steam daily active user number is now at a staggering 45 million!

This was revealed in a new update (via ResetEra) stating the improved language support for Spanish and adding Vietnamese.

Q: What if my game doesn’t support Spanish at all?

A: That’s okay, and you don’t need to make any changes. But just so you know: nearly 2 million of our 45 million daily active users view the store in Spanish, and platform revenue in Latin America increased 35% over the previous year… so now might be a good time to consider adding support!

The last update we got in terms of daily Steam active users was back in August 2017, where it was revealed that there was more than 33 million people logging in to the platform each day! With numbers like these, it’s no wonder Gabe Newell is becoming richer and richer.

Are you one of the 45 million Steam users out there? Can this number even decline? Heck, is there even a viable competitor for Steam?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Upcoming Changes Detailed, “Larger” Game Update Coming This Week

While Treyarch has rolled a few Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 hotfixes over the weekend, the studio isn’t done just yet. In a new statement to the community, Treyarch announced some of the Black Ops 4 upcoming changes planned, and also mentioned that a “larger” game update is on its way this week!

Later this week, the team is planning a larger game update that will bring some key improvements and new additions to Black Ops 4. In the meantime, we’re currently tracking the following topics:

  • Performance in Quads
    • We’re aware that some players are seeing fluctuations in network performance in Blackout Quads (particularly on Xbox One), and the team has been actively investigating. This is not an easily identifiable issue that happens for all players, and internal testing hasn’t shown it to be consistent. We’ll update everyone when we’re closer to a solution.
  • Disappearing Optics
    • We’ve seen some reports that the Red Dot and other Optics can sometimes temporarily disappear when aiming down sights. The team is investigating this for a fix in a future update.
  • Emblem Editor Issues
    • Some players have experienced unexpected behavior with the Emblem Editor, including layers that can’t be deleted, distorted images, and other issues that occur after adding several layers to the Emblem. While many players have been able to create some truly amazing Emblems already, we know it’s not an optimal experience for everyone across the board and we’re looking into it. There are a lot of moving parts here (literally) and some of these items may affect how other items perform, so please bear with us as we work on improving this experience.
  • Search and Destroy Custom Games
    • As we mentioned in a previous update, we’re aware of some issues specifically present in Custom Search and Destroy matches, particularly with matches ending after round 7. We’re planning to address these in an update soon.

Regarding the “larger” game update, that one will most likely be an actual patch that players will have to download before jumping online. Once it’s out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Need some help on which Specialists to start with or just be effective ASAP? Here’s our top five list and why.

Red Dead Redemption Length Said to Be at 65 Hours

It’s no secret that Rockstar Games makes massive open world games that require a ton of time to sift through, and Red Dead Redemption 2 looks to be the same. However, if this recent report is to be believed, prepare to lose a TON of hours into the single-player alone, as the Red Dead Redemption 2 length is said to be at 65 hours!

In a feature at Vulture, article writer Harold Goldberg mentions that he’s five hours into the 65-hour game. Check out the actual quota below.

The acting for Red Dead Redemption 2’s story mode is now complete, but as release day approaches, five hours of the 65-hour game are dumped. At one point, protagonist Arthur Morgan had two love interests, but “we decided one of them didn’t work,” says Dan. And whole missions were removed because “they were never going to work technically or be quite slick enough, or they felt superfluous. We removed a mission on a train where you had to deal with bounty hunters, because it was fun at first, but then it wasn’t. This part of the process is always about compromise and horse trading. Everyone always loses bits of the game they love.”

There’s no context if this includes side missions or just a straight playthrough of Rockstar’s upcoming title, though the number lines up with how long most Rockstar Games are if you include a little bit of the side missions. And let’s face it, can you play Red Dead Redemption 2 without fishing, gambling or doing any of the stuff in the game? Yeah, I thought so.

In other Red Dead Redemption 2 news, we just got confirmation yesterday that the Red Dead Redemption 2 file size is at 88GB on the Xbox One, which should be the same on the PS4. Don’t forget to check out the weapons blowout by Rockstar to see how weapon customization, degradation and more work in the game.

Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost Trailer Reminds You Its Starting Tomorrow

In a press release, Activision has fired off a new Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost trailer to remind everyone that the event is starting tomorrow, October 16, at 10 a.m. Pacific.

Festival of the Lost fills the Tower with delight — as memories good and bittersweet fill our hearts. Guardians wear masks to laugh in the face of adversity. But even with the Tower lit by spooky violet candles, there’s always something scary lurking just out of sight.

For Guardians, death is usually a temporary condition: no more dangerous than a splinter and forgotten just as quickly. Despite recent victories on Mercury and Mars, a legend has been laid to rest. Now, more than ever, we must honor the memories of those we’ve lost and celebrate their lives.

Survive the all-new Haunted Forest and earn themed rewards including Masks, Sparrows, Emotes, the Horror Story Auto Rifle and much more.

You can check out a more detailed look at the event in the announcement made by Bungie.

Haven’t bought Destiny 2: Forsaken yet? This week might be the perfect time as you’ll also be getting the Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions free if you buy it this week.

Battlefield V Single-Player Trailer Hitting Tomorrow, Actor Mark Strong Doing Voice Over Work for the Game

As we reported this past weekend, DICE will be diving deep into Battlefield V’s War Stories (the mode it calls its single-player campaign) this week. Case in point: a new Battlefield V single-player trailer is dropping tomorrow!

This was announced by the official Battlefield Twitter earlier today.

Not only that, but it’s now been revealed that actor Mark Strong (Kingsman, Shazam) is doing voice-over work for the game too! If you ever wanted to hear Mark Strong say, “play the fucking objective” in his stern voice, you’ll be able to now!

This isn’t the first time Mark Strong has lent his voice to a video game, as he was also in 2011’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine too.

Check out this in-depth Q&A DICE has published where the studio talks about the game’s weapons and vehicles.

Rockstar Employees Working 100-Hour Weeks During Red Dead Redemption 2 Development

In a new Vulture interview of Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, Houser told the publication that its employees had been working 100-hour weeks several times during Red Dead Redemption 2’s development.

The polishing, rewrites, and reedits Rockstar does are immense. ‘We were working 100-hour weeks’ several times in 2018, Dan says. The finished game includes 300,000 animations, 500,000 lines of dialogue, and many more lines of code. Even for each RDR2 trailer and TV commercial, ‘we probably made 70 versions, but the editors may make several hundred. Sam and I will both make both make lots of suggestions, as will other members of the team.’

This type of overworking is commonly referred to as crunch, and while at the front many developers condemn such working conditions, many of them still practice it to make sure their games meet deadlines and launch on time. Rockstar specifically is no stranger to crunch, having had a letter written to them in 2010 from the wives of Rockstar San Diego employees who brought to light just how awful working conditions had become for their spouses. In the letter, they describe how “some employees have been diagnosed with depression symptoms and at least one among them is acknowledged to have suicidal tendencies.” The most significant point made in the letter was how employees are being manipulated and that the worsened working conditions had such an impact on employees it affected the quality of life for family members.

The turning for the worse came approximately in the month of March of 2009. Till present, the working conditions persists to deteriorate as employees are manipulated by certain hands that wield the reigns of power in Rockstar San Diego. Furthermore, the extent of degradation employees have suffered extends to their quality of life and their family members.

Rockstar’s response to the letter? A politely worded ‘well if you don’t like it go somewhere else’ response. Not only did they heavily deflect, they almost seemed to relish in the fact that they had so many employees who were focused on developing these titles.

We’re saddened if any former members of any studio did not find their time here enjoyable or creatively fulfilling and wish them well with finding an environment more suitable to their temperaments and needs, but the vast majority of our company are focused solely on delivering cutting edge interactive entertainment.

What Rockstar’s tone-deaf response doesn’t take into account is how many developers have a passion for creating video games but not a passion for overworking themselves.

Top 5 Black Ops 4 Specialists That Are Easy to Use and Be Effective With

With Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 being released just a few days ago, some might be overwhelmed with the plethora of Specialists the game has out of the gate. If you played the beta, then chances are you know which Specialist(s) suits your gameplay style, but what if you haven’t, or you’re unsure which one to “master” first.

Here’s where MP1st comes in! Listed below are the top five Black Ops 4 Specialists that are good for those new at the game. Note that these aren’t the Specialists for “noobs” since each and every Specialist is effective in their own right. Having said that, if you’re just starting Black Ops 4, then these five should be the ones you should maining with while you’re getting accustomed to the game’s maps, guns and more.

Battery

Abilities:

  • Special Issue Equipment: Cluster Grenade – Powerful explosive grenade that sticks to surfaces and releases sub-munitions upon detonation.
  • Special Issue Weaponry: War Machine – High explosive grenade launcher.

Battery is relatively the same from Black Ops 3; she has a noob tube as her ultimate, and once you have that, it’s just spray and pray time. It’s not unheard of to get double, triple or even quad kills with the War Machine grenade launcher.

Her Cluster Grenade skill is also easy to use since you just throw it where you think enemies are. Easy peasy.

Crash

  • Special Issue Equipment: Assault Pack – Supplies ammo packs that provide bonus score for taking down enemies.
  • Special Issue Weaponry: TAK-5 – Heals and boosts max health for the user and their team.

Possibly the easiest to use in this list, Crash players can deploy an Assault Pack near his team’s spawn, and the use the Tak-5 when necessary to help specific teammates win gunfights. Mind, there’s a big difference between being easy to use, and being an effective Crash player.

Nomad

  • Special Issue Equipment: Mesh Mine – Explosive traps that connect to create lethal tripwires.
  • Special Issue Weaponry: K9-Unit – Attack dog that can be commanded to follow you or patrol a designated location.

If you want kills, Nomad is the guy you want. Drop Mesh Mines in corners, set up traps for doors, plant them in Domination flags, the list goes on. You’re bound to pick someone off as long as you put these mines in good spots. Don’t forget, you can choose NOT to have a trip line, and just put two mines in separate places.

As for the dog, well, it’s a good on-field buddy to have, which should get you a kill or two. Just remember that those who have the Cold-Blooded perk won’t be targeted by your attack dog.

Recon

  • Special Issue Equipment: Sensor Dart – Reveals enemies within its proximity.
  • Special Issue Weaponry: Vision Pulse – Pulse the map to reveal all the enemies for yourself and teammates.

Another Specialist that’s quite easy to use and be effective with. Recon players should spam their Sensor Dart whenever they can, and place them in high or hard to shoot areas for maximum efficiency. Your teammates will love you for picking Recon, and you’ll get points for every kill that got tagged with both your Sensor Dart and Vision Pulse.

Torque

  • Special Issue Equipment: Razor Wire – Damages and slows enemies that attempt to cross it.
  • Special Issue Weaponry: Barricade – Reinforced cover for protection while securing objectives. Built in microwave field slows and damages enemies.

One of my personal favorites, Torque isn’t really that easy to use, but when used right, this bad boy can control entire matches by cordoning off sections of the game. If you’re going to play Domination, someone on your team should always be a Torque. Place down wires where you suspect enemies will go through, block off a staircase if you’re camping, and the list goes on.

As for the Barricade, place it near areas that aren’t that wide open so the microwave field can do its magic. Remember that enemies can still shoot you even if you’re crouched behind it. It’s a shield, but you’ll still have a big chance of getting hit.

What do you think? Which Specialist is the easiest to use for you? Let us know what you think in the comments. For everything Black Ops 4, make sure to check out MP1st’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 hub page.
