Square Enix Reveals New Strategy Game Called The DioField Chronicle

Square Enix has announced today a new strategy-RPG video game called The DioField Chronicle. The game will be out sometime later this year for the PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch platforms. You can check out the announcement trailer below.

This fresh new franchise is developed by SQUARE ENIX in conjunction with Lancarse Ltd, a team of veteran strategy developers, features unique character designs by Taiki (Lord of Vermilion III, IV), concept art by Isamu Kamikokuryo (FINAL FANTASY XII, FINAL FANTASY XIII) and has beautifully orchestrated music by world-renowned composers Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell, known best for their work on Game of Thrones.

The Announcement Trailer unveiled today provides a first look at the story and new, deeply strategic real-time battle system called ‘Real-Time Tactical Battle’ (RTTB). Told through stunning ‘diorama’-style combat scenes, players will assess front line conditions in real-time, issue decisive orders and use a variety of skills, classes, and equipment to gain the upper hand over their foes.

Players will take control of a band of elite mercenaries calling themselves “Blue Fox”, but will the name “Blue Fox” come to signify hope or darkest tragedy?

More info about the game should be announced closer to its release date. Stay tuned for more details.

Sony Halts PlayStation Hardware and Software Sales in Russia

Due to Russia’s on-going invasion and war on Ukraine, Sony has decided to halt sales of its PlayStation software and hardware in the country, which is what Ukraine’s Deputy PM has been lobbying for since last week. Not only does this include items in the PlayStation Store and PS5 consoles, but even the recently released Gran Turismo 7 is not available in Russia as of press time.

Sony announced this on its official PlayStation Twitter page. You can read the full announcement posted down below.

“We have suspended all software and hardware shipments, the launch of Gran Turismo 7, and operations of the PlayStation Store in Russia. To support humanitarian aid, Sony Group Corporation announced a US$2 million donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the international NGO, Save the Children, to support the victims of this tragedy”

Many other companies around the world have halted their products being sold in Russia too. WWE is no longer airing the WWE Network, while Microsoft, EA, and CD Projekt RED have stopped selling their products in Russia too.  It does not look like Russia is interested in stopping its war with Ukraine, so this PlayStation ban in the country could last for a while.

Capcom Announces “Exoprimal,” Out in 2023

During Sony’s State of Play today, Capcom brought a new trailer that announces their new action game “Exoprimal.” It’s like if Anthem crossed over with Dino Crisis, and it had a heavy PvE slant on things.

Check out the announcement trailer below that features what seems to be gameplay.

No firm release date yet other than “2023,” and the wording seems to indicate that this will be for the PS4 and PS5, though we can’t say for certain whether this is a timed exclusive, or a full-on exclusive for Sony.

If you ever wanted Anthem with dinosaurs, then this is just that

Update: Capcom has sent the press release out whcih includes more details!

It’s 2040 and the planet is in crisis. Dinosaurs are appearing from thin air and laying waste to cities across the globe. Threatened by history’s deadliest creatures, the world turns to the powerful Aibius Corporation and its revolutionary technology for help. The company’s next-generation AI, Leviathan, can forecast where dinosaur outbreaks will occur and deploy Exofighters to the area. Armed with state-of-the-art mechanized combat armor known as Exosuits, these warriors represent humanity’s last hope.

Exoprimal pioneers a new multiplayer experience rooted in co-op – but with a competitive edge. In the game’s main mode, Dino Survival, teams fight for every breath against countless dinosaurs while racing to complete missions before rival squads in 5v5 matches. A dynamic mix of objectives keeps players on their guard and ensures each match is different form the last. Exofighters will need to stay on their toes as hunts transition into precious cargo deliveries or desperate last stands against relentless assaults. Opposing teams are even given opportunities to tackle adversaries head-on and impede their progress. While Exoprimal is purely focused around multiplayer, a narrative is interwoven throughout the game. Players can sink their teeth into the world’s rich history and colorful characters by unlocking new story threads and piecing together the mystery behind the dinosaur outbreaks.

Exofighters are always outnumbered and must work together to overcome overwhelming odds. Their Exosuits come in an array of classes, each playing a distinct role in combat. Assault models like the marksman Deadeye and the melee-oriented Zephyr excel at cutting down enemy swarms. Meanwhile, tanks such as the shield-bearing Roadblock and support types like the vital Witchdoctor help keep everyone alive to fight another day. Every model is outfitted with a unique armory and special abilities. Players can even swap between Exosuits on the fly to overcome any situation, no matter how dire.

Once we know more details, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

One-Time Destiny 2 Name Change to Become Available Tomorrow

Those who wish to change their Bungie names in Destiny 2, Bungie is allowing a one-time Destiny 2 name change tomorrow after the planned hotfix 4.0.03 is rolled out!

This was announced over on Twitter by the studio, and players will be able to change their Bungie name via the studio’s official website.

For those curious how this will work for PlayStation and Xbox players, in theory, players who change their Bungie name can have it reflect their name in Destiny 2, which should show up for everyone instead of your PSN ID/Xbox Gamertag. We’re curious to see how this will shake out, though, so don’t fault us if changing your Bungie name doesn’t reflect in-game for console gamers.

While there’s a Destiny 2 patch planned for tomorrow, hotfix 4.0.0.2 was rolled out last week and included quite a bit of changes.

Once the hotfix for tomorrow is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. So bookmark our Destiny game hub and refresh to see the patch notes (patch time deployment is 9 a.m. PT/12 noon ET/1 a.m. HKT.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Season Pass, Post-Launch Content Details Revealed

For those looking to grind it deep for Gearbox’s next title better title, here are the details on the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Season Pass and post-launch content, showing players what they can expect for support in the game’s future! Head down below for a rundown on what’s to come in Tiny Tina’s future, as well as a certain collaboration with Epic Games’ Fortnite.

First up is a trailer for the Season Pass for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands:

Here’s what’s coming in terms of post-launch content:

Four Exciting Post-Launch Content Drops

Each of the four new content drops begins in Dreamveil Overlook, where the enigmatic fortune teller Vesper awaits an audience. Peer into the Mirrors of Mystery she oversees and you’ll be whisked away to illusionary environments, each consisting of five levels to fight through followed by a fearsome new boss encounter. Each Mirror of Mystery content drop will be available for individual purchase, but you can punch your ticket to all four with the Season Pass.

The final boss within each Mirror of Mystery will grow more powerful over time, and Vesper’s tales are designed to be replayed so you can test your mettle against the rising difficulty. Each time you successfully vanquish the boss’ increasingly fearsome forms, you’ll earn Lost Souls that let you spin Vesper’s Wheel of Fate. Spins of this creepy contraption can reward you with Legendary weapons, gear, and other items.

Gearbox also released additional details on the Chaos Chamber, and what additional content it will get as the Season progresses:

Completing a content drop will also add its respective levels and boss to the pool of possibilities in the Chaos Chamber, the endlessly replayable endgame of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. This will expand the myriad of combinations for your randomized dungeon, making each run that much more unpredictable. For more info about how the Chaos Chamber works, check out the latest Dev Diary.

The fourth post-launch content drop will also introduce the addition of a to-be-announced seventh class to the roster of six classes you can mix and match between in the base game. With its own Class Feat, two fresh Action Skills, and a unique skill tree to play with, the seventh class will create even more Multiclass possibilities.

Rounding out the Season Pass is the Butt Stallion Pack, featuring cosmetic items approved by Queen Butt Stallion herself that’ll make you the envy of other Fatemakers. Included in the Butt Stallion Pack are the Diamond Guard Armor Presets (three items), the Crystal Glitter Makeup Pack (five items), the Adamant Throne Banner Set (two items), and the Diamond Hero Statue Material.

Finally, as the game will release on PC via the Epic Games Store, here are the details on a collaboration between Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and Fortnite:

In collaboration with Epic Games, the chaotic fantasy world of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is crossing over with Fortnite via the Diamond Pony Glider, which you can get as a limited-time bonus when you purchase a digital copy of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands on the Epic Games Store!*

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will launch on March 25, 2022 across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via the Epic Games Store exclusively at launch, and on other PC digital storefronts later in 2022.

Elden Ring Pause Button Workaround Discovered

A Souls YouTuber has found an Elden Ring pause button workaround, allowing players to pause the game for the first time ever in the history of the series! In a rather smart discovery of how the in-game menu works, YouTuiber Iron Pineapple demonstrated over on Twitter just how you can pause your game in Elden Ring, and it’s very easy once you get the hang of things.

Check out his explanation of the pause button for Elden Ring below:

guess what, Elden Ring DOES have a pause button

just open “Menu Explanation” while on the inventory screen

this isn’t a meme, it actually works lmao

The embedded video shows his character surrounded by enemies as he tries to open the menu. However, instead of just dying as what would regularly happen in a Souls game, Iron Pineapple navigated to the “Menu Explanation” of an item inside his inventory, which immediately then halted the music and sounds happening in-game, indicating that the game is indeed paused.

As for if this works in multiplayer, especially invasions, it’s currently still unknown. If it does, then this would be an issue, and expect FromSoftware to come up with a patch to fix it. In the meantime, however, players can enjoy pausing in the game for the first time in the series.

Elden Ring recently came across some criticisim from developers from other studios, including Ubisoft and Guerrilla Games. Check out the full story here.
