Battlefield 2042 Update 1.000.010 Released for Patch 3.3 This March 8

As promised by DICE, the Battlefield 2042 update 1.000.010 patch has been released today for both last-gen and next-gen platforms! This includes the scoreboard refresh, the new Steadfast Legendary bundle for those Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition, Year 1 Pass, Year 1 Pass and Ultimate Pack upgrade owners, and more! Check out the complete patch notes for what DICE calls patch 3.3 below.

Battlefield 2042 Update 1.000.010 Patch Notes | Battlefield 2042 Update 3.3 Patch Notes:

Scoreboard

Back in January we revealed our plans for a Scoreboard UI refresh based on community input. Through your feedback, it was clear that more work and time was required to ensure that the first iteration of the refreshed Scoreboard lined up with your expectations. We’ve since collected and listened to your feedback and are now ready to deploy this refresh alongside this update.

Match Overview has been improved and placed on the left of the screen; this still retains information about the match, objective progression and ticket counters as well as personal stats such as Kills, Assists and Deaths, alongside your current in-game ping.

The Scoreboard now features a team vs team split look for certain team-based modes such as Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush and Team Deathmatch, alongside the inclusion of the deaths stat to the Scoreboard.

While these changes were two of your most-requested missing pieces, this is the first version of the Scoreboard, and further improvements will be made to this in subsequent updates, based upon your continued feedback such as the Scoreboard being available during the End of Round screens.

The Steadfast Exclusive Legendary Bundle

All Battlefield 2042 Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition, Year 1 Pass, Year 1 Pass and Ultimate Pack upgrade owners*, and EA Play Pro subscribers* can now enjoy the Steadfast Exclusive Legendary Bundle* as a thank you for your loyalty from the entire Battlefield team.

The bundle contains the following items:

  • Zero Resistance Skin for Mackay
  • Grasshopper Weapon Skin for the K30
  • Rapid Hammer Weapon Skin for the M44
  • Iron Chariot Vehicle Skin for the M5C Bolte
  • Rib Tickler Melee Weapon Skin
  • Resolute Player Card Background
  • The Steadfast Player Card Icon

Players eligible for the Steadfast Exclusive Legendary Bundle can find all included items via the Collection and Playercard screens upon login in once Update #3.3 is live.

General

  • Fixed a game crash that could occur on Origin or Xbox One when signing in/out while using an Xbox One controller
  • Setting “Chat” Key Bindings no longer requires a game restart to take effect
  • Adjusted Aim Assist on console to ensure that the system is in effect when analogue sticks are at 100% of their range. Previously it was only active at ranges below 100%
  • Fixed a bug where takedowns would not result in a kill on Xbox One and PlayStation®4
  • Established new location for our EU Data Centre as Frankfurt

Modes

  • Conquest & Breakthrough – fixed a bug where the Securing Objective XP-event was triggered even after a Capture Point was already fully captured
  • Hazard Zone – fixed a visual bug displaying squad mates during the match found sequence
  • Hazard Zone – fixed a bug where the End of Round XP gains sometimes didn’t trigger

For the next patch, DICE has mentioned that it will be available in “early April,” and will include VOIP support, a larger set of fixes and more, which you can read about here.

Gran Turismo 7 Tops the UK Sales Chart This Week

Elden Ring wasn’t able to hold the top position for very long because Gran Turismo 7 is the top-selling UK video game this week. That said, Elden Ring is still the best-selling video game for the entire year thus far.

As reported by Game Industry, Gran Turismo 7 is the best-selling game in the UK this week. However, physical copies were down 28% compared to the release of Gran Turismo Sport in 2017. This is to be expected though because digital sales are higher now compared to five years ago.

76% of sales were for the PS5 version of GT7. The remaining 24% were gamers buying the older PS4 version. The PS4 version is still selling well since several people cannot get their hands on a PS5 console yet.

GT7 is the fourth biggest game launch of 2022. The game trails behind the likes of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Horizon: Forbidden West and Elden Ring. The latter is the highest selling game for 2022 in the UK. You can check out the full sales chart posted down below.

Last Week This Week Title
New Entry 1 Gran Turismo 7
1 2 Elden Ring
3 3 Pokémon Legends: Arceus
2 4 Horizon: Forbidden West
5 5 FIFA 22
4 6 Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
New Entry 7 Triangle Strategy
8 8 Animal Crossing: New Horizons
7 9 Dying Light 2: Stay Human
9 10 Minecraft (Switch)

Gran Turismo 7 is out now for the PS5 and PS4 consoles. You can read our glowing review of the game here.

Bloodhunt Ranked Mode, “New Player” Mode Details Revealed

In their latest update post, developer Sharkmob has released a ton of new details on the upcoming Bloodhunt ranked mode, as well as a new mode catered to newcomers to the game called “Bloodhunt.” Check out the rundown on both modes below and see just which one is for you once the game finally releases.

First up is the ranked mode, which is the classic Bloodhunt experience that early access players got to enjoy when the game was available back then.

Ranked Mode:

This mode will be available fairly soon after the release of Bloodhunt, and we are looking at requiring around level 10 of player progress to unlock it. This to hinder cheaters of gaining access as much as possible.

Players can earn Ranked Points (RP) by defeating enemies and placing high in a match. You will be matched with other players with similar RP (RP-based matchmaking). No match variations are present in this mode.

Ranked mode also features various ranks, which you will be able to show off in your Rank icon next to your avatar.

Here are some details on how Ranked Mode works:

Ranked Points Gain

Your rank is dependent on your Ranked Points (RP). You will be rewarded with points for kills as well as placement in a match. We decided to put more weight on the eliminations, to encourage having a kill-oriented style and make the ranked mode entertaining to both play and watch. Placing in the top will still give you a good chunk of RP.

Sharkmob also mentioned that there will be an RP fee for every ranked game you play save for the first one, so that start directly playing it once it starts.

Rank Thresholds

There are six ranks to climb as you accumulate the required number of ranked points (RP). Your RP score and rank will be reset completely between the seasons, offering a fresh start and a new race to the top ranks.

Rank Bronze Silver Gold Platinum Diamond Obsidian
RP Needed 0 2,000 4,000 6,000 8,000 10,000
Match Fee 0 15 30 45 60 100

After this comes the titular Bloodhunt mode, which, as you might not expect, is catered towards newcomers and those looking for a ‘non-sweaty’ battle royale experience. Check out the rundown on this mode below:

Bloodhunt mode

This is a new mode that caters to newcomers of Bloodhunt as well as existing players that are mostly playing the game as average enjoyers. This mode features comeback mechanics to give players another chance without having to load into a new server if they’re eliminated at once. After being killed, you will respawn at a random location near your point of death with a blue AK and a Spiked Bat in your inventory to ensure that you have a chance to survive and defend yourself.

Respawned players will also be invincible for a short duration while they find their bearings again. During this short period, players will be able to both move and jump around to get the best position if there is someone nearby. Players will also be able to regain their used extra lives by feeding on specific potent mortals.

This mode will also feature different match variations to keep it fun and interesting.

With extra lives, we think that this mode is not only more friendly to new players trying to get a hang of the various abilities and weapons, but it also makes for a more fast-paced and action-packed experience as people are willing to take more risks and go all out regardless of the skill level.

Overall, this mode sounds like a very interesting take to do an ‘easy mode’ for a battle royale, as it does give casual players the space to enjoy games without stressing out too much. It will be worth waiting to see if Bloodhunt mode picks up, as confusing naming scheme aside this can give Bloodhunt (the game) the edge it needs over the many battle royale competitors in the market.

In case you missed it, Sharkmob also revealed that a closed PC playtest is coming later this month, and you can catch all the details on that one here.

Steam Deck Verified Playable Games Grow to Over 1000 Titles

While many are still waiting for their Steam Deck to be shipped out, Valve and partners have been hard at work at ensuring that the library of Steam-supported Steam Deck games is continuing to grow. In fact, just this past week the company announced that there are now over 1000 titles that can be played on their portable gaming device, with more being added each passing day.

In a short blog post, Valve announced that there are now over 1000 games that are either verified or playable on Steam Deck. As for what they mean by either “verified” or “playable” here is an explanation offered by Valve.

Whenever we talk about compatibility rating numbers, we emphasize that this is just a snapshot of a single moment, and that ratings change over time. Even as you read this, partners are working on adding controller support, enabling anti-cheat on Deck, and smoothing out the experience for players on Deck. At the same time, every day we’re fixing Proton bugs that cause issues in some games, and adding new functionality to support others.

As this work takes place, our existing standards for titles to get a Verified or a Playable rating are very high. If a game shows controller glyphs 99% of the time but tells you to ‘press F’ sometimes during gameplay, that’s Playable, not Verified. If 99% of a game’s functionality is accessible, but accessing one optional in-game minigame crashes, or one tutorial video doesn’t render, that’s Unsupported.

For now! This is by design: around the launch timeframe, we believed it was more valuable to prevent false positives (“this game is Verified but part of it doesn’t work”), even at the cost of some appearance of false negatives (“this game is Unsupported but I didn’t notice anything wrong with it”). Even with the current standards, at the rate both we and partners are making improvements, we expect you’ll see many titles transition over the next few weeks from Playable, or even Unsupported, to Verified. We also expect our standards and thinking will adjust as we move farther from launch and get much more feedback from customers and developers.

To sum it up, verified essentially means that everything is in working order and the game runs fully with all UI elements matching the correct control scheme. Playable on the other hand could mean a number of different things, though that title can be played on the Steam Deck with the exception of a some issues such as requiring additional input, or displaying wrong input icons.

As to better communicate this with gamers, Valve has begun rolling out a new compatibility tool that allows developers to directly address their community regarding Steam Deck compatibility, as shown in the image down below for RimWorld.

Steam Deck Verified Playable Games UI

Steam Deck first quarter shipments are now going out. If you reserved a Steam Deck and are unsure of the status of your reservation, you can check by logging into the Steam Deck store page and scrolling down to the version of Steam Deck you reserved.

If you have a Steam Deck already, or one is currently being shipped and are interested in seeing which games are verified/playable you can search manually here, or view your own library here.

WWE 2K22 Showcase Mode Rey Mysterio Matches Revealed

With only a few more days until release, the WWE 2K22 Showcase mode matches have been revealed. This year the mode is focusing on the career of Rey Mysterio, who’s also the game’s cover Superstar.

There are 12 matches in total that span the famous wrestling career of Rey Mysterio. While most of the matches are of his WWE career, his famous WCW encounter with Eddie Guerrero from 1997 is also included in the mode. Several characters, arenas, and attires are unlocked while progressing through the Showcase mode.

The Smackdown Hotel website managed to list all of the matches in the mode. You can read the full list posted down below.

Showcase Mode Matches

    1. Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero – WCW Halloween Havoc 1997
    2. Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero – WrestleMania 21 2005
    3. Rey Mysterio vs. Shawn Michaels – Raw 2005
    4. Rey Mysterio vs. JBL – Judgment Day 2006
    5. Rey Mysterio vs. Kane – Cyber Sunday 2008
    6. Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler – SummerSlam 2009
    7. Rey Mysterio vs. Batista – Smackdown 2009
    8. Rey Mysterio vs. The Undertaker – Royal Rumble 2010
    9. Rey Mysterio vs. The Miz – Raw 2011
    10. Rey Mysterio vs. Samoa Joe – Raw 2019
    11. Rey Mysterio vs. Gran Metalik – Raw 2019
    12. BONUS MATCH (Rey & Dominik Tag Match)

Oddly, the Showcase mode does not include his World Heavyweight Championship victory at WrestleMania 22. For some reason, the game does not include Kurt Angle which is why this match is missing. Rey’s Royal Rumble 2006 victory is also not in the game.

WWE 2K22 releases on March 11, 2022. People that pre-ordered the deluxe edition, they can play the game earlier on March 8, 2022. In case you missed it, you can check out the full launch roster here.

Ubisoft Dev, Sony Devs Throw Shade at Elden Ring UI, Performance, Quest Design

While Elden Ring seems to be the one of the most critically acclaimed games in recent memory (currently sitting at a very impressive 97 overall on Metacritic), it seems some video game developers aren’t impressed with FromSoftware’s latest action-RPG.

Over on Twitter, former Battlefield 2042 dev and now current UX Director at Ubisoft Ahmed Salama (Twitter profile is locked) pointed out that Elden Ring snagging a 97 average on Metacritic is “proof” that game critics don’t give a crap about game UX (user experience). In the same tweet, Nixxes Software (now a first-party Sony studio) dev Rebecca Fernandez O’Shea, and Senior Quest Designer of Horizon Forbidden West Blake Rebouche (Twitter profile locked) also threw shade by mentioning the faulting the game’s PC graphics, stability & performance, and even the quest design.

Not only that, but Salama also adds that the Elden Ring UX is so bad, he can only imagine FromSoftware devs are smoking in their desks and using CRT monitors, even.

Image

While MP1st is one of the websites that gave Elden Ring a 10/10 score, I can confirm that we do care about a game’s UX. I know it’s healthy competition and all, but seeing devs throw shade at a game that’s getting universal acclaim from both gamers and critics just seems salty at this point.

Let’s hope whatever Ubisoft shows us next in terms of an open-world sandbox experience blows us away.

Marvel’s Avengers Hero Set Gear Upcoming Changes in Patch 2.3 Outlined by Crystal Dynamics

Crystal Dynamics is hard at work on the next patch for Marvel’s Avengers, and one of the big changes planned to be included are hero set gear, its attributes status effects, focus and more! Check out the complete breakdown of the Marvel’s Avengers hero set gear upcoming changes below that are set to drop in patch 2.3!

Marvel’s Avengers Hero Set Gear Upcoming Changes Planned

Crystal Dynamics’ Alex Kende has outlined the upcoming changes coming to patch 2.3 and explanation.

But let’s get the most obvious out of the way: Perks have received a huge naming pass to improve clarity even if the description of the Perk is the same. Many Perks on your current gear will get new names but will remain unchanged in application.

Next is the names of the sets themselves. Each of the three Hero Sets will have their title seen in the description panel of mission chains or on the War Table when viewing a mission’s details. This should help pin down where to get what if you’re looking for a specific piece of gear. – Alex Kende, Crystal Dynamics Game Designer

Classic Set Focus

The Classic Power set is designed around highlighting several key features of the Hero without focusing on any single aspect. Pieces from this set can be matched well with other sets as it does not rely on itself due to having general overall improvements. This Hero Set is perfect for those trying to create custom builds and filling in the blanks while experimenting.

One example is Kate’s Sharpshooter’s Arrow Mark VI equipped with Disruptor Deconstructor, which grants a huge debuff on enemies from Disruption Arrow. Another example is Sharpshooter’s Bodysuit with Blink Effector, which decreases the cost of teleporting.

Location

Previously the legendary pieces of this set could only be found in Elite Hives and still will be found in Hives.

After Update 2.3, these will also replace the Hero set normally found from Villain Sectors. Normal Villain Sector mission chains will drop a single piece. Elite Villain Sector mission chains will drop two pieces (the typical attack/defense split) with a chance to drop an Exotic piece, which is the first time these will be available.

Normal and Elite Villain Sectors will drop this set with every run and have a small chance at the Exotic versions, but the daily and weekly mission chains have a higher chance.

Changes to the Classic Power Set Coming in Update 2.3

  • Black Widow
    • Infiltrator’s Belt
      • Replaced generic Heroic Support regen with Assault Empowerment, which has a high chance to activate a boost of Intrinsic Energy when using Widow’s Bite
  • Thor
    • Belt of the All-Father
      • Replaced generic Heroic energy regen with Rampant Supercharge, which increases Willpower and Heroic regeneration while overcharged
  • Captain America
    • Chestplate of the First Avenger
      • Replaced Rally Cry Breaker (making exclusive to other sets) with Block Surplus, which increases the amount of intrinsic energy
      • Replaced Reactive Overdrive (making exclusive to another set) with Lethal Nimble Overdrive which activates Captain’s Defense from defeating enemies from block attacks or perfectly evading enemy attacks
      • Safeguard of the First Avenger
      • Replaced generic Heroic regen with Commander’s Call Safeguard, which increases defense while Captain’s Defense is active
  • Ironman
    • Modular Mark VII EMF Generator
      • Replaced Hyper Flux Laser (moved to other sets and slots) with Hulkbuster Impulse which increases Hulkbuster stun damage
    • Modular Mark VII Power Cell
      • Replaced generic heroic regen perk with Hulkbuster Breaker increasing Hulkbuster damage
      • Replaced Rampant Regeneration with Armory Spike increasing all critical damage from weapons

Technical Power Set Focus

The Technical Power set is designed around a technical or support aspect of the Hero while being more focused on survival, close combat, and armor. Many Perks will increase the duration of Skills, add defensive/offensive capabilities to Heroics, or help Heroes while in the thick of combat. This set has gotten a huge overhaul with new Perks for Heroes to help meet this intent.

For example, Hulk’s Worldbreaker’s Alloy now has Untouchable Boneshaker, which can activate a short duration Boneshaker after defeating enemies with Rage Attacks or when Perfectly Evading an incoming attack. Another example would be Ms. Marvel’s Marvelous Body Armor, which now has Polymorph Resistance that allows melee attacks to slowly regenerate Willpower while Polymorph is active.

Location

The legendary versions will still be found in Vaults but will now also come from the Vault mission chains.

Gone is the need to hunt for Vault coordinates. The SHIELD mission giver will offer one Vault mission per day while one Elite Vault mission chain will appear weekly on the usual Thursday reset.

The Elite vault mission chains will now award two pieces from this set (attack/defense split) with a chance to drop the Exotic variants. The Exotics were previously only awarded from Last Avenger Standing.

Each completion of a Vault will earn you one of these pieces, but the mission chains have a much higher chance of dropping the Exotic.

Changes to the Technical Power Set Coming in Update 2.3

  • Ms. Marvel
    • Marvelous Adornments
      • Replaced Overdrive which increases Polymorph energy regeneration rate with Healing Spirit Extension, which increases the duration of the Healing Spirit buff on Ms. Marvel
    • Marvelous Body Armor
      • Replaced Healing Spirit Rush with Polymorph Melee Rush, which allows melee attacks to slowly regenerate Willpower while Polymorph is active
  • Black Widow
    • Red Room Arsenal
      • Replaced generic status build meter increase with Shadow Ops Breaker, which increases damage based on the amount of Shadow Ops energy you currently have
    • Red Room Corset / Red Room Uniform
      • Replaced Leeching Strike (making exclusive to another set) with Lethal Invisibility, which has a chance on defeating an enemy to grant Black Widow invisibility

    • Conduit of the Nomad (now with the proper name 😊)
      • Replaced increased critical chance Perk with Captain’s Target, which states that quickly landing 3 headshots in a row using Shield Throw will activate the Captain’s Charge buff
    • Aegis of the Nomad
      • Replaced increased status build up perk with Rally Cry Supercharge, which increases health and heroic energy regeneration while Rally Cry is active
      • Rampart of the Nomad / Helm of the Nomad
      • Replaced Impact Break with Shield Block Safeguard that gives armor based on the amount of shield block energy Cap has

Apex Power Set Focus

Update 2.3 also comes with another round of Perk edits to the Hero set from Priority Missions and Flashback Missions, which is now named the Apex Power Set.

The intent of this set is to excel at a single aspect in the Hero’s kit. Be that power attacks or group attacks, many of the Perks are set up to stack on top of each other to make that specific ability powerful at the cost of adding little to other abilities. Kind of like a glass cannon!

Changes to the Apex Power Set coming in Update 2.3

  • Ms. Marvel
    • Stormranger’s Nega Bands
      • Replaced Status damage while Polymorphed with Embiggen Destruction, which increases Stun, Status, and overall damage while Embiggen is active

      • Replaced Brooklyn Brawler Amplifier (which now only exists on the legendary version) with Brooklyn Brawler Overdrive, which Increases intrinsic regeneration while Brooklyn Brawler is active
      • Battle Plate of the Super Soldier
      • Perk name changed from Brawler’s Vigor to Brooklyn Brawler Extension, which increases the duration from 3 to 8.5 seconds

Dying Light 2 Photo Mode Feedback Asked by Techland; Upcoming Patch to Make Bows More Accessible

Last month, Techland confirmed that they are looking into implementing a New Game+ mode into Dying Light 2. Outside of that, the studio looks to be adding a Dying Light 2 Photo Mode, too, as the devs are now asking feedback from gamers on what they want to see from it.

Over on Twitter, Lead Designer Tymon Smektala asked gamers what they want to see in a mode like this, and what Photo Mode do gamers really dug in other games.

Another thing being added is more masks, which obviously isn’t as big as a Photo Mode, but it’s still a nice confirmation.

In addition to that, Smektala also confirmed that an upcoming patch will make bows spawn at higher levels.

Speaking of an upcoming patch, a new title update is due this coming week on PC, with consoles getting it at a later date. Read up on some of the fixes included in it right here.

While the game currently doesn’t have a Photo Mode, it does manage to do a lot of things right. Read our review to see why it managed to snag an impressive 8.5/10.
