Astria Ascending Introduces the J-Ster Tabletop Strategy Game

Japanese role-playing game enthusiasts who enjoy playing some minigames in the middle of the adventure will like what Artisan Studios and Dear Villagers are bringing to Astria Ascending, as the team introduces the J-Ster tabletop strategy game to the mix!

Here’s the trailer showcasing just how the mini game looks like and how it plays!

J-Ster is described as a strategic contest where players move to steal an opponent’s tokens and grow their expansive collectible army. As players explore Astria’s universe, they’ll be able to play this game and find opponents eager to battle to get rewards and satisfying victories!

Of course as it is developed by former devs from the Final Fantasy games, here’s an overview of what Astria Ascending is if you’re new to this game via the press release!

With hand-drawn backgrounds and animations, expansive customization, and rich turn-based combat, Astria Ascending draws players into a complex story of fate, fear and sacrifice. It is published by Dear Villagers (ScourgeBringer, Edge of Eternity) and developed by Artisan Studios in collaboration with legendary JRPG developers including Final Fantasy veterans Kazushige Nojima (narrative) and Hitoshi Sakimoto (composition).

Studio Wildcard has released the Ark Survival Evolved update 2.63 July 23 patch, and this ends the Summer Bash, as well as implement a host of fixes to the game. The entire patch notes are available below for all platforms.

Battlefield 2042 Graphics Comparison Screenshots & Video Show How Much Visuals Have Evolved

With the announcement that Battlefield 2042’s Battlefield Portal will be bringnig back maps from past Battlefield games into the game, some might be wondering how these new maps compare to the original. Well, you don’t need to imagine, as a Battlefield 2042 graphics comparison video, and a slew of screenshots should do the trick.

YouTuber DANNYonPC has released a BF2042 graphics comparison video along with screenshots!

 

Obviously, the Battlefield 2042 versions look a ton better, but it’s still a nice reminder on how far we’ve become in terms of game graphics. In case you need a refresher, the classic maps coming to Battlefield Portal at launch include: Caspian Border, Noshar Canals, Arica Harbor, Valparaiso, Battle of the Bulge, and El Alamein.

AC Valhalla Upcoming Update on July 27 Will Add Level Scaling

Ubisoft has announced that the next Assassin’s Creed Valhalla patch is coming next week on July 27! The AC Valhalla update will include level scaling, and we’re presuming gameplay fixes and other stuff that hasn’t been revealed just yet.

AC Valhalla Upcoming Update:

Release Date (Planned): Tuesday, July 27

Ubisoft showed off an image of the UI where players can toggle the level scaling. It seems players will have five tiers to choose from starting with “off” and hiking it up all the way to “Nightmarish.”

Once the patch is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know about it.

In other Assassin’s Creed news, Ubisoft has announced Assassin’s Creed Infinity , which is the franchise’s transition from a single-player-focused game, to something more akin to a live service one. Ubisoft has also mentioned how it is planning to release new content every year for the franchise.

What’s a Xûr?

Xûr, Agent of the Nine, is a strange vendor who randomly appears in a Public Sector on one of the Worlds. Xûr sells Exotic equipment and only takes Legendary Shards in exchange for them.

TL;DR: He’s the Santa Claus of Destiny and every weekend is Christmas. Sometimes he brings you what you want, sometimes he brings you coal. Mostly it’s coal.

Battlefield Portal Builder Is Web-Based and Won’t Require Copy of Game to Use

In case you didn’t know, EA unleashed a bombshell yesterday with the reveal of Battlefield 2042’s entirely new experience called “Battlefield Portal.” This new mode/experience will let players create their own playlists, fiddle around and create new game modes and so much more. Built into the Battlefield Portal is the “Builder,” which is an editor that players will use how to configure parameters in game modes and more.

While we’re already looking forward to what kind of crazy game modes and playlists fans will think up, it looks like you don’t even need to own Battlefield 2042 to create stuff in Battlefield Portal! In JackFrags’ latest video about the Portal, he confirms that the Builder is a web-based platform (which means the devs can update it freely without have to patch the game) that makes it accessible from anywhere, and that players don’t even need a copy of the game to build stuff! They will need an EA account, however.

The Battlefield Portal’s Builder will also house the “Logic Editor” where players can tweak specific conditions in matches with a flick of a switch. Here’s EA’s explanation of it:

For those who wish to go beyond the multitude of Settings, Battlefield Portal will also have a Logic Editor that lets players use streamlined visual scripting logic to have even more control when it comes to creating your experiences. While anyone can use the Logic Editor, it’s aimed at those who have prior knowledge of visual scripting logic.

While the Settings will allow you to change many specific conditions with the flick of a switch, the Logic Editor will let you define rules, victory conditions, consequences of specific in-game events (like setting a reward or punishment for a player scoring a kill), and even more to create custom game modes that aren’t possible to create with the Settings alone.

You’ll also have the ability to share your Experiences with the community through an Experience Link (a URL), giving fellow players the power to share that Experience or even remix it with their own additions.

Outriders Upcoming Update “Almost Complete,” Will See Some Much-Needed Buffs

Good news, Outriders! People Can Fly has revealed that an Outriders upcoming update is set to release soon, brining with it a large number of bug fixes, and most importantly, a ton of new class buffs. While this patch has no definite release date yet, the studio did say that it was “almost complete,” which means we can see it as early as next week.

As revealed by the studio, via Reddit, down below you’ll find a full list of confirmed buffs, along with the changes and bug fixes that are set out for the upcoming Outriders update.

Pyromancer
  • Feed the Flames

    • The Ammo replenished by the Bullet Absorption mod has been increased to 40% (Previously: 33%)

  • Volcanic Rounds

    • The Resistance debuff provided by the Susceptibility mod has been increased to 50% (Previously: 34%)

    • The “Reload Boost” and “Lava Shots” Mods have had their perks swapped.

      • Reload Boost will now increase Anomaly Power (Previously: Firepower)

      • Lava Shots will now increase Firepower (Previously: Anomaly Power)

  • Ash Blast

    • Ash blast has had it’s base skill cooldown reduced by 5 seconds, from 27.5 to 23.5 seconds

    • The buff duration of the Death Sentence mod has been increased by 3 seconds, from 5 to 8 seconds

Trickster
  • Borrowed Time

    • Reduced the cooldown of Borrowed Time by 3.5 seconds, from 13.5 seconds to 10 seconds

  • Slow Trap

    • The cooldown of Slow Trap has been reduced by 10.7 seconds, from 30.7 seconds to 20 seconds

  • Time Rift

    • The cooldown of Time Rift has been reduced by 3.4 seconds, from 15.4 seconds to 12 seconds

    • Increased the DOT damage of the “A Little Bit of Pain” mod by 71% (from base 0.35 AP to 0.6 AP)

    • Condensed the DOT duration of the “A Little Bit Of Pain” mod to 6 seconds (Previously: 10)

    • Increased the Armour and Resistance debuff provided by the “Time Crack” mod to 35% (Previously: 25%)

    • Increased the Weapon Cleave damage provided by the “Pain Transfer” mod to 20% Weapon Damage (Previously: 10% Weapon Damage)

Technomancer
  • Pain Launcher

    • Reduced the base cooldown of Pain Launcher by 10 seconds, from 40 seconds to 30 seconds

      • Edit: This was mistakenly listed as reduced to 17 due an error on my part. Apologies for the confusion! The actual reduction is to by 10 seconds to 30 seconds CD.

  • Scrapnel

    • Reduced the base cooldown of Scrapnel by 5 seconds, from 22 seconds to 17 seconds

  • Freeze Turret

    • The Hail Shot mod has had its SPF set to 1.5 (Previously: 1)

    • SPF controls how much this mod benefits from the Status Power attribute. This change effectively means that the damage increase provided by Hail Shot will increase by 50%, though the effectiveness of this improvement still depends on the character’s Status Power attribute.

Devastator
  • Boulderdash

    • Using the Skill will now provide significant (65%) damage reduction during it’s animation

    • Players can now press trigger again to use an AOE attack during the run animation

  • Endless Mass

    • Enemies affected by Endless Mass can now be damaged and killed during the animation

    • Changed the “Wide Horizons” mod so that, on top of the range increase, the mod will allow Endless Mass to ignore the enemy skill “Absorbing Skin” used by Alpha Perforos and Brood Mothers

  • Reflect Bullets

    • Ending the Skill early will now refund a part of the cooldown (up to 90%)

Universal Buffs
  • Armor Mod buffs

    • Personal Space will have its damage bonus increased from 15% to 25%

    • Critstack will have it’s Anomaly Power boost increased by 21% (from base 5.79 to 7)

    • Stand Tall will have its base Firepower bonus increased by 20% and its base Anomaly Power by 16%. (From base level 10 Firepower and 15 Anomaly Power to 12 Firepower and 17.5 Anomaly Power)

    • Perseverance Shield will have it’s base shield value increased by 40% (From base 25 to 35)

      • Note: This patch will also fix a bug whereby Perseverance Shield could trigger and grant shield after death

    • Blazing Aegis will have the armor increase it grants increased by 21% (from base 46.35 to 56)

    • Plate Dodger will have its armor value grant increased by 12% (from base 58 to 65) and its duration increased from 5 seconds to 7 seconds.

  • Weapon Mods

    • Anomaly Enhancement will have its co-efficiency increased from 30% Anomaly Power to 40%.

    • **Bone Shrapnel will have its damage increased by 5% (**from base 56.7 to 59.85)

Outriders Upcoming Fixes and Changes
  • Will improve the multiplayer experience so that rubberbanding & packet loss should now be reduced for players under 350ms pings

  • Will fix the Technomancer’s Borealis Monarch Set and correctly grant the 90% damage increase to any frozen targets

  • Will resolve an issue with the Devastator’s Statue Set and change its description to match its behaviour

    • The New Description is:

      • While either Tremor or Golem is active, increase Firepower by 100% and Weapon Skill Leech by 100% for you and your teammates

    • The Old Description was:

      • Using either Tremor or Golem increases Firepower by 100% and Weapon Skill Leech by 100% for you and your teammates

    • The old functionality meant that the Statue set bonus could end after 8 seconds. Reworking this set means that the bonus can now be maintained for longer.

  • Will fix an issue that can cause the Trickster’s Hunt the Prey to not turn the player towards an enemy’s back if aiming down sights immediately after activation

  • Will improve the targeting of the Tricksters Venator’s Knife so that it should now more consistently target a player’s intended enemy

  • Will implement a change to the Anti-Duplication system so that your equipped items will not be taken into account when checking whether to re-roll a dropped duplicate

Not a bad update if we so so ourselves, and we’re sure a number of players are going to be real happy with all of this. As for when this update will be released, People Can Fly has stated that they are targeting next week, though that all depends if they can figure out a recent game crashing bug that was introduced in past updates.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Update 2.01 Released for 4K Support in 60fps Mode on PS5

The fine folks at Eidos-Montreal has released the Shadow of the Tomb Raider update 2.01 patch this July 23, and this is to add next-gen (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) enhancements!

That’s about it. It’s still a nice update by the studio even if there’s no new content included.

Splitgate Beta Taken Offline Due to Popularity, Devs Explain Current Server Limitations

Earlier this week, we reported that the Splitgate beta has already been downloaded over 600,000 times in just its first six days of availability, as it turns out, the game is more popular than originally thought, as the devs were forced to take it offline due to its popularity!

Posting on the game’s subreddit, here’s the letter the four-man team of studo 1047 Games penned to players:

We have decided to take the beta offline for tonight. It’s been a rough day trying to handle this scale and it’s not fair to you.

Everyone who played the beta so far will get 5 drops as a token of our appreciation. Stay tuned for more updates and optimizations in the morning <3​

Hey guys, we are really sorry about the repeated server issues. I know how frustrating it is (trust me, we are frustrated too). We are doing everything we possibly can to stay on top of things and the 4 of us are sleeping about 2-3 hours per night. Right now it is literally a race against time as we try to put out updates (with less testing than we would like) as we struggle to keep up with the increase in players.

Full transparency, we just hit 65k concurrent which we are really proud of. But going from 50k to 65k in 24 hours is not an easy task And going from 1k to 65k in a week is barely humanly possible. We wish we could just throw money at the problem and buy more servers but there are a lot of moving parts and scaling is an incredibly complicated issue that takes time.

Rest assured though, we won’t stop working on this until we are prepared for as much scale as possible, and we are doing everything we possibly can to make this smooth. Thankfully, this is what betas are for! I can’t stress enough how appreciative we are to have such an understanding and supportive community <3 You guys are seriously the best, and this is only the beginning of a very wild ride.

If you are missing skins/levels/battlepass, don’t worry. This is only a visual bug due to the server outtage. Once the servers return, you will see all your items again. Remember, this is a beta, and it’s better to have these issues now than on release! Thank you for being patient with us <3

Latest Lost Judgment Trailer Takes Us Through the Life of a Detective

Sometimes being a detective is hard work, and in the case of Takayuki Yagami, the main protagonist of Judgment and it’s sequel, Lost Judgment, it’s best to spend any free time skating it up like Tony Hawk, leading a dance crew, or heck, even teaming it up with a crime fighting dog. Like I said, it’s hard being a detective and that’s what the latest Lost Judgment trailer is all about.

In the latest trailer for the upcoming sequel to Judgment, Lost Judgement, we get a good look at the life of a detective. Dubbed as the “Detective’s Toolkit” this trailer introduces a number of new gadgets that players will be able to use during their crime solving playthrough of Lost Judgment. However, solving cases isn’t the only things we’ll be doing come the September launch, as the trailer also features a number of new mini-games and side activities for those in-between case breaks. Check it out!

Yeah, we weren’t joking about the Tony Hawk statement from earlier, and yes, you did, in fact, see the 1996 Sonic the Fighter arcade game mixed in there. Talk about crazy, though considering the first release, and the fact that this is a shared universe with the Yakuza series, we can’t say we’re surprised.

Black Desert Online Update 1.93 Brings Minor Fixes – July 23

Pearl Abyss has released the Black Desert Online update 1.93 patch today, and this is for minor fixes following the big Atoraxxio title update release da few days ago. This July 23 patch brings a few minor fixes into the game, which are listed below.

Adventurers,

A minor patch was released to fix the following issues:

  • There is an issue where the certain text is abnormally displayed in the “Manage Wallet” window of the Central Market.
  • There is an issue where certain text is abnormally displayed in the key guide for the “Excluded Item Settings” window when using your storage.
  • There is an issue where when using the Storage Container, the UI for the Central Market is displayed.
  • There is an issue where certain cut-scenes do not have the intended language voice-overs.

In order for these changes to be applied, you will need to restart your game. For those Adventurers who have yet to connect to the game, this update will be automatically applied the first time you log in.

Ratchet & Clank Update 1.002.001 Released for Freezing and Other Issues

Insomniac Games has released the Ratchet & Clank update 1.002.001 patch, which brings a load of fixes from fixing freezing issues, to NPCs disappearing, and loads more. Some of the fixes in the official patch notes are bugs that I didn’t even know existed, so head on to see the entire list.

General Fixes & Polish

  • Addressed an issue where the UI would not appear when using the Jukebox
  • Addressed an issue where the wrong hero would load which could lead to progression being blocked.
  • Addressed an issue where inputs would not work after completing a Clank puzzle
  • Addressed an issue where Ratchet could fall indefinitely while traveling to Corson V
  • Addressed an issue where NPC voices could disappear
  • Addressed an issue where the single color background in Photo Mode would not appear
  • Reintroduced the wrench throw tutorial on Challenge Mode playthroughs
  • Addressed an issue where the wrench & hammer would not appear in Photo Mode
  • Addressed an issue where  a collected Lorb would not be counted
  • Addressed an issue where the hero could access weapons while in Zurkies bar
  • Addressed an issue where unlock stickers could become locked again in Challenge Mode
  • Addressed an issue where a gold bolt would be rewarded without completing the Glitch puzzle

GRID Legends Brings a Different Kind of Racing Experience This 2022

Prepare to play a racing game that’s set to make an impact like no other, as GRID Legends has been announced by EA — and it brings a different kind of racing experience this 2022!

Here’s the reveal trailer straight from this year’s EA Play Live digital event.

As a new racing game property by Electronic Arts, here’s a brief description of what GRID Legends is via the official EA website.

The latest in Codemasters’ beloved racing franchise introduces an in-depth story mode filmed in XR and delivered in documentary style, starring award-winning British actor, Ncuti Gatwa. The game also includes improved driver-personality AI that makes opponents behave even more like human racers, new city races in London and Moscow, a race creator that lets players design mixed-class races, and much more.

With a ton of announcements and reveals made during EA Play Live, GRID Legends is just the icing in the cake to the latest and greatest announcements EA has made at the event. With a new Dead Space game coming as well as hyping up the upcoming Battlefield Portal, there’s plenty to be excited about for the gaming world!

Marvel’s Avengers Upcoming Update Out July 27, Brings Omega-Level Threat & More

The next upcoming Marvel’s Avengers update has been revealed, and it’s quite a big one as it will introduce for the first time in the game, Omega-level threats. As announced by Crystal Dynamics, the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers update will introduce a few major new content and feature drops. The first being the long awaited omega-level threat, which will be a variation of the Family Reunion mission from the Taking Aim Operation (Kate Bishop DLC). 

According to Crystal Dynamics, this version will be far more difficult, as modifiers such as e Attrition, Overshield, Meridian, and Supercharged will be activated, and that players will be required to have at least a minimum of 145 or over for power level. Completing this Omega-Level Threat mission will reward players with high-end gear, which can be earned once a week per account. They are exploring options to expand this to all characters in the future.

Omega Set Description

Rarity: Exotic

Preferred Attributes: Might, Precision, Proficiency, Resolve

Preferred Status Effects: Cosmic, Pym, Cryo

Common Cosmic Perks:

  • Cosmic Aura – Generate a temporary aura of Cosmic energy that restores Willpower for any teammates within range.
  • Cosmic Surge – Dealing damage while the buff is active restores a small amount of Willpower and Heroic energy.
  • Cosmic Payload – Launch a Payload missile that deals Cosmic damage to target.

Other Notable Perks:

  • Cosmic Lethal Empowerment – Chance to grant a burst of Intrinsic energy when defeating an enemy under the Cosmic status effect. This is the first time this Perk will be available.
  • Cryo Lethal Protection – Chance to grant a defense buff when defeating an enemy under the Cryo status effect. This is the first time this Perk will be available.
  • Reactive Payload – Chance to launch an explosive payload missile at the enemy hitting you upon taking damage.

Omega Set gear lacks dedicated defense buffs, damage buffs, or Standard Heroic regen perks in favor of triggered Perks and Cosmic damage improvement.

  • Along with Cosmic Perks from the Cosmic-themed Minor Artifacts, this set is heavily based on players triggering extra Cosmic effects and capitalizing on them.
  • The status pool is smaller to focus on synergistic perks like the one for Cryo which also happens to be the only standard defense buff in this set.
  • This set’s melee and ranged gear can roll with 2 status perks of the same type, but the first slot can also roll stun and crowd control Perks.
  • The Heroic slot will always roll with perks triggering off of Cosmic damage or being hit with Cosmic damage. The defense slot has many options to resist Cosmic damage or triggering Cosmic surge from most actions including being revived. Note: this is the first time Perks will be triggered upon being revived.

This isn’t the only thing coming in this update, as the developers also confirmed that they adding multiplayer to Mega Hives. Yep, no more having to run through these alone as you will now be able to grind through the multi-objective mode with friends. All we can say is, it’s about damn time!

As a final announcement, the team also revealed that this update will enable the ability to play as the same hero as others permanently. This feature was previously seen in the Tachyon Anomaly event that happened a bit back. Glad to see it’ll be staying for good this time around.
