SMITE Update 11.80 June 1 Patch Notes, Out for Bonus Update 8.5

Hi-Rez Studios has rolled out the SMITE update 11.80 June 1 patch, and this is for Bonus Update 8.5! Same as with every bonus update, there are item changes mostly, as well as some new god skins.

SMITE Update 11.80 June 1 Patch Notes:

BONUS BALANCE (LIVE JUNE 1)

Items

ENHANCED PURPLE BUFF
The enhanced Purple Buff provides a large damage increase above the rest of the enhanced options. We are decreasing the Attack Speed provided from the enhanced portion only to bring these enhanced effects closer to each other.
  • Decreased Attack Speed from the Enhanced portion 15% to 10% (25% to 20% total)

(STARTER) GILDED ARROW
Hunters, given how damage per second focused they are as a role, often focus onto one build given time. The Critical Strike build, bolstered by the strength of the Gilded Arrow starter and tree, has become the build of choice for every hunter. This build provided a strong power curve, high end game damage, and the gold generation confirmed a lead through the early purchase of the 3K damage potions. In this patch we are adjusting this build overall down in power while bolstering some underused anchor items. First up is Gilded Arrow. This starter is both potent in its own right and builds into Ornate Arrow, the main choice for top end hunters. The gold gain in particular allowed hunters to get key power spikes much earlier than their opponents. That is the strength of this item but at 10 gold it was simply too effective.
  • Decreased Gold Gain per successful marked target kill from 10 to 7

(UPGRADE) ORNATE ARROW
Ornate Arrow has a similar story. This item asks you to keep gold in reserve for stats and it makes up for it in the long term by being efficient and providing value in longer games. This value however was simply too intense. In games that went even a little over a standard match length multiple 3K potions could be purchased as other roles are getting their first. Even at 5% this item will still provide a high amount of value, especially in longer games.
  • Decreased Gold Percentage Gain from 20% to 5%

(UPGRADE) DIAMOND ARROW
While Diamond Arrow has not been built as much as Ornate Arrow we expect it will see a rise in purchase now that it is closer in power to Ornate Arrow. We are mirroring the change we did to Gilded Arrow, lowering just how much gold this item can generate to prevent a difficult to overcome surge in efficiency at level 20.
  • Decreased the bonus gold per minion kill from 10 to 7
  • Decreased the bonus gold per god kill from 30 to 21

EXECUTIONER
Executioner is a core aspect of many hunter builds, but especially the Critical Strike build. Through little effort, items like Executioner allow Hunters to reach strong combinations of Power, Attack Speed, and Critical Strike chance. A small adjustment here can help Hunters make more meaningful item decisions later in their build when they look to specialize in a particular build path.
  • Decreased Attack Speed from 25% to 20%

ATALANTA’S BOW
Atalanta’s has seen heavy adjustments through its lifetime and it has settled in an overall underperforming spot. While it provides strong conditional utility the base stats made it undesirable compared to a higher throughput build. A bump in Base Power brings it closer to other options.
  • Increased Physical Power from 25 to 35

ASI
Asi is another potential ‘anchor’ item that can bring forth a bunch of different build options. Serving as a high attack speed and high Lifesteal option it has the potential to shape builds early. Given its potential we want to be careful with how we bring this item up. While a 5 Physical Power increase feels small, Asi’s combination of Attack Speed, Lifesteal, and Penetration amplify this power increase.
  • Increased Physical Power from 20 to 25

(STARTER) BLUESTONE PENDANT
Bluestone Pendant has pushed the Solo meta into a single direction. Everyone builds Bluestone and the lane itself is quite aggressive. One thing we have seen from feedback is that the aggression in the lane feels good right now so adjustments we make will be careful not to disrupt what is currently being enjoyed. Bluestone itself provided aggression through power and wave clear, but also a lot of defensive sustain. We are cutting the HP5 in half, lowering just how much health is restored in between each wave.
  • Decreased HP5 from 20 to 10

(UPGRADE) BLUESTONE BROOCH
Bluestone Brooch’s bonus damage increase really pushed Warriors ability to dive backliners and succeed in killing them individually. At 25 base damage on the proc it felt underwhelming but 75 was too much. 50 should be a solid middle ground that makes it more comparable to the utility of other upgrades.
  • Decreased Bonus Damage from 75 to 50

REINFORCED SHOES
Reinforced Shoes and Greaves have really taken a step forward in build placement. Supports and many Warriors are heavily valuing the early protection spike these boots provide and can make it feel too difficult for damage dealers to punish poor positioning or play. We do think its balance point however is quite narrow, given these items saw very little play for some time. While we have future plans for boots in general in the next patch (Mid Season) we did want to tone down one of its strong passive benefits; CCR. Supports will have to respect early CC more and be less resilient to strong CC chains.
  • Decreased CCR from 20% to 10%

REINFORCED GREAVES
  • Decreased CCR from 20% to 10%
Gods
PERSEPHONE
We have been watching Persephone’s rework very closely. As described in her rework patch and blog post; she had a very unique style but created unhealthy gameplay scenarios. As far as early metrics go we are seeing many new players try Persephone and see much more success; and while early feedback was worried she would be weak, players are learning how to use her new kit to maximum effect. Given her strong performance, especially as players learn the new kit, we do feel she needs a downward adjustment on her primary burst combo. The bites in particular from a Harvest/Flourish combo seem to be contributing too much to her primary combo and are seeing a reduction in scaling this patch. We will continue to watch her closely and respond to feedback. In the main patch we are fixing many issues players came across (and bringing back that chunky skeletal bone rush sound) and in the long term will look at more long term feedback such as her passive feeling underwhelming.

HARVEST (FLOWER)
  • Decreased Bite Magical Power Scaling from 50% to 40%.
GILGAMESH
Gilgamesh has simply drop kicked all his previous nerfs away, proving quite resistant in attempts to bring his performance down. In this latest round we are targeting his frequent slow from Sun-forged Scimitar and the raw burst more offensive Gilgamesh builds can bring with Drop Kick. Enemies should find Gilgamesh easier to escape and more likely to survive that drop kick to the face.

SUN-FORGED SCIMITAR
  • Slow duration decreased from 2.5s to 2s

DROP KICK
  • Burst damage scaling decreased from 65% to 55%
  • Bonus damage scaling decreased from 25% to 20%
KING ARTHUR
King Arthur in particular benefitted from a strong Bluestone Pendant, but even before it was the go to choice he showed himself to be a strong solo laner. We think given his strong performance, especially in the SPL, he needs an additional nerf. Steadfast’s passive damage mitigation makes King Arthur exceptionally difficult to take down and synergizes well with Protections. A decrease here should be a noticeable decrease to his raw tankiness.

STEADFAST
  • Decreased Damage Mitigation from1.5% per Stack to 1% per stack (6% to 4% total)
SOBEK
Sobek is another top contender for the Support role in the SPL and Ranked. In particular his strong engage is followed up by a major zone control ultimate that gives time for his CC chain to come up again. We are lowering the slow and protections provided by Lurking in the Waters to give enemies more opportunity to punish a risky pluck.

LURKING IN THE WATERS
  • Decreased Slow from 20/25/30/35/40% to 25% at all ranks
  • Decreased Protections from 20% to 15%
SCYLLA
Scylla has done exceptionally well as a Mage who is capable of damaging strong frontliners, even with Magical Protections. Crush’s Rank 5 really pushes this identity but is currently pushing it too much. At 15% enemy tanks still need to respect Crush but this makes it less devastating to face.

CRUSH
  • Decreased Percent Penetration from 20% to 15%
HEIMDALLR
Heimdallr has been a fun god to watch, from his heavy hitting Critical Strikes to his fancy start with Bifrost to get to lane quickly he has been interesting to watch. Heimdallr has a decrease in how hard Critical Strikes can hit given his slower, heavier hitting attacks but this decrease was not enough to offset just how hard these could hit. A decrease in his damage output with Critical Strikes paired with a long cooldown for short Bifrost hops, enemies can be a little less afraid of this vigilant god.

THE VIGILANT
  • Decreased Heimdallr’s Critical Strikes from 70% bonus damage to 65%

THE BIFROST
  • Increased the base cooldown from 14s to 16s
YMIR
YMIR IS HERE! Whaat? Ymir nerf?! Wall cooldown? But wall already cold! Ymir should always be picked. Ymir is everyone’s favorite! Why nerf? Ymir have words with Ajax!

ICE WALL
  • Increased Cooldown from 12/11/10/9/8s to 14/13/12/11/10s
ANHUR
The slayer of enemies has sure been living up to his name. While not always resulting in a ban his pick at all level of ranked and in the SPL has shown this god to be quite strong. Desert Fury in particular provides long duration Crowd Control Immunity and solid damage output on a lower cooldown. This made him exceptionally hard to fight into and given the strength of this ultimate, it probably deserves to have the standard Ultimate cooldown.

DESERT FURY
  • Increase Cooldown from 75s to 90s at all ranks
ATHENA
Athena has been confounding her enemies to great success. While this extra damage really helped round out her kit, the raw damage add it provided was too high. Rather than fully removing we are looking to tone down Confound’s damage in addition to Reach’s damage. This should bring her overall damage to more normal levels while preserving the buff that brought her into contention after a long duration of being a low pick support.

REACH
  • Decreased Reach’s scaling from 35% to 30%.
  • Decreased Reach’s subsequent hit scaling from 25% to 20%.
    • This feature always existed but was not documented. We rewrote the whole description to better describe this as well as to more clearly describe the damage Reach does as a multiplier on her Basic Attack damage rather than a scaling on bot her Bot Power and Magical Power from items.

CONFOUND
  • Decrease 40/70/100/130/160 to 40/65/90/115/140

Don’t forget, Morgan Le Fay is entering the game soon, too!

Here Are Some of the Best Battlefield Moments From the Franchise

While the Battlefield franchise might seem like your regular military, first-person shooter, franchise vets know it’s anything but. Sure, there’s your typical sniping montage, but for the most part, the most memorable stuff in the game are when “Battlefield Moments” happen.

What are Battlefield Moments? Simply put, these are unscripted (or sometimes scripted) scenarios in multiplayer that can only happen in Battlefield! Stuff like flying a jet, jumping out, sniping someone and then getting back in are just some of the most memorable stuff we’ve seen from every game in the franchise.

Having said that, check out some of the best Battlefield moments from the clips below! Some are funny, some are inventive, and some are just downright ridiculuous! Whatever you think of these are, one thing’s for sure: these are the stuff that can only be done in Battlefield.

One of the most iconic moments ever – the “Renderzook!”

Getting UAV roadkills in Bad Company 2 was just fun as heck!

Attacking C using a jetski!

This is just badass! James Bond the original!

Putting a jet ski on a jet!

Now this is a true gunship!

Throwing Knife vs. a chopper?

Tanking to the limit

Battle…log?

Watch the whip!

Tank bouncing blasts a jet out of the sky!

Flying hovercraft?!

That’s about it. Do you have an amazing Battlefield moment to share? Link us below in the comments or post a gif!

Those looking forward to the Dobly experience for their next-gen consoles, it looks like you’ll have to stick with Xbox platforms for a while, as it seems Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are going to be exclusive to Xbox for two years!

Update: According to Microsoft there is no exclusive deal between the two companies for the either tech.

This was revealed in a now-deleted post on the official France Xbox website, where the following was noted:

The Xbox Series X|S have been Dolby Atmos compatible since their release and Dolby Vision will arrive on these consoles in 2021, both technologies will remain exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem for two years.

Those not familiar with the tech, here’s what Dolby has to say about both:

What is Dolby Atmos?

Take your music and entertainment to the next level with Dolby Atmos. Go beyond the capabilities of stereo and surround sound to unlock a richer, fuller, and more immersive experience. With Dolby Atmos, artists, storytellers, and content creators can now place individual sounds all around you with more space and depth, so you can hear more and feel more. (via Dolby)

Dolby Vision is a set of technologies developed by Dolby Laboratories for High Dynamic Range (HDR) video. It covers content creation, distribution and playback. Dolby Vision include dynamic metadata that are used to adjust the brightnesscolor and sharpness of each frame of the video to match the display color volume (i.e. the maximum and minimum brightness capability and the color gamut). It allows for the creative intents to be preserved on all Dolby Vision compatible displays. It was introduced in 2014, making it the first available HDR format. (via Wikipedia)

Would this be a deal-breaker for you in terms of deciding which next-gen platform to buy?

COD Online Shutting Down in China by End of August

Remember Call of Duty Online (COD Online)? If not, I don’t blame you, as the game never got out of China. For those not familiar with the game, it’s a free-to-play shooter developed by Raven Software and Activision Shanghai that launched a beta version way back in 2012, before launching in China (exclusively) in 2015.

It looks like the rest of the world won’t be able to play COD Online, as Activision is shutting down the game by the end of August! The reason cited was declining revenue and lack of renewal from Activision, which isn’t surprising given how popular Call of Duty: Warzone has been, and is possibly the biggest free-to-play game in Activision’s portfolio.

Not only that, but Call of Duty Mobile (COD Mobile) has also gotten to be very big, too, so I can see why Activision wouldn’t want a separate F2P Call of Duty game to maintain when you have those two titles being worked on already.

Aside from the two Call of Duty games, we are also getting a new entry in the franchise later this year, which is rurmored to be once again based on World War 2.

Thanks, ZhugeEX!

Final Fantasy Director Naoki Yoshida: Console’s Long Reign Will End Once 5G Becomes Standard

While there are still loads of people that can’t buy a PS5, Xbox Series X or a Nintendo Switch, the time where we won’t even need a dedicated gaming console might be coming sooner than some people think — at least according to Final Fantasy Director Naoki Yoshida.

Speaking to the Financial Times (subscription required), Yoshida commented on how 5G will usher in the demise of consoles.

Once 5G becomes the global standard, there will definitely come a time when we can transfer images to any device.
Players can enjoy a high-quality gaming experience on any device by not being tied to a gaming hardware or TV monitor. We’re definitely heading in that direction, and I don’t think coronavirus will slow this shift.

Yoshida also muses that with home consoles, people need to sit in front of a TV, turn the power on, and wait for the hardware to start, which is a time-consuming affair.

My take? Even if we do get 5G, unless mobile games can feature controls that feel as natural as physical controllers, there will always be people who prefer consoles. That, and of course, just having a device dedicated to games means that the hardware can and will be maximized just for that, which in turn equates to better gaming experiences.

Do you agree with Yoshida’s take? Will we see console decline once 5G becomes the standard across the world?

Destiny 2 Upcoming Update 3.2.0.3 Out Next Week Will Bring Stasis Changes & More

While Bungie just released a title update for Destiny 2 this past week, the studio has announced that the Destiny 2 upcoming update 3.2.0.3 is planned for release next week, June 3 (Thursday), and will include a few fixes, and more importantly, stasis changes for PvP!

Destiny 2 Upcoming Update 3.2.0.3 Patch Preview:

Issues addressed (partial list):

  • The Empty Tank Lost Sector will correctly reward leg Exotics when they are advertised.
  • The Couturier Gauntlets will no longer obstruct a player’s view when using Bows and will appear again as intended.
  • The Archon’s Thunder Machine Gun and Riiswalker Shotgun can now be acquired from Lord Saladin, Iron Engrams, Bounties, or post-match Iron Banner rewards.

Stasis changes incoming this June 3:

General Stasis
Stasis Freeze
  • Reduced duration of all non-Super freezes vs. players to 1.35s.
      • Note: This freeze is too short to break out of, so breaking out is now only possible when frozen by a Super.
  • Reduced Special-weapon, Heavy-weapon, and Light-ability bonus damage vs. frozen players from +50% to +5%.
Stasis Slow
  • No longer reduces weapon accuracy.
      • Now increases weapon flinch when under fire.
  • No longer suppresses class ability and air moves (e.g., Icarus Dash).
      • Known issue: The Stormcaller’s Ionic Blink is still suppressed when slowed. We plan to address this in a future release.
  • Reduced movement speed penalty while slowed by ~20%.
Whisper of Hedrons Fragment
  • No longer increases weapon damage after freezing.
  • Now increases weapon stability, weapon aim assist, Mobility, Resilience, and Recovery after freezing.
Whisper of Rime Fragment
  • No longer provides overshield while in Super.
Coldsnap Grenade
  • Seeker no longer tracks targets after initial target acquisition.
  • Increased arming duration before seeker spawns from 0.3s to 0.8s.
  • Reduced detonation radius vs. players from 3m to 1.5m.
  • Now bounces off walls and detonates on the ground.

Titan Behemoth
Looking at recent gameplay data, the Behemoth generally has the highest win rate of any subclass in most 6v6 game modes and is also among the strongest in 3v3 modes. In Trials of Osiris matches, for example, only top-tree Dawnblade has a higher win rate. We’ve taken these strengths into account when balancing the Behemoth’s abilities. Between Shiver Strike and Cryoclasm, the Behemoth has incredibly high mobility, making targeting the Behemoth frustrating for controller players in particular. We’ve taken steps to make the Behemoth more targetable while moving, which should hopefully alleviate some of this frustration.
Shiver Strike
  • Reduced flight speed and distance.
  • Reduced knockback vs. players.
  • Removed slow detonation on player impact.
Cryoclasm
  • Now requires the Titan to sprint for 1.25s before activation when not in Super.
  • Removed cooldown.
Howl of the Storm
  • Reduced angle of initial freezing/damage cone.
  • Reduced crystal-creation freezing radius.
  • Slowed down sequence of crystal formation to allow victims more opportunity to escape.
  • Now spawns a small crystal on walls if performed into walls.
Glacial Quake
  • Reduced heavy slam vertical freeze range vs. players.
  • Reduced damage resistance from 50% to 47%.
Hunter Revenant
The Revenant’s Crucible win rate, kills per minute, and average efficiency is generally within the top six of all subclass trees, but its usage rate is incredibly high. In Trials of Osiris matches, it has the fifth-highest win rate of any subclass tree, but is used by a whopping 36% of Trials players. This high usage means players fall victim to its abilities more often, multiplying the frustration of being slowed by Withering Blade and Winter’s Shroud. We hope that the changes we’ve made to being slowed, paired with the adjustments to the Revenant’s abilities, make this experience better.
Withering Blade
  • Reduced slow duration vs. players from 2.5s to 1.5s.
  • Reduced Whisper of Durance slow-duration extension vs. players from 2s to 0.5s.
  • Reduced damage vs. players from 65 to 45 (after one bounce reduced further to 30).
  • Reduced projectile speed by 10%.
  • Reduced tracking after bouncing off a wall.
Winter’s Shroud
  • Reduced slow duration vs. players from 2.5s to 1.5s.
  • Reduced Whisper of Durance slow-duration extension vs. players from 2s to 0.5s.
Touch of Winter
  • Coldsnap seeker no longer has increased movement speed or travel distance.
  • Coldsnap seeker now spawns a small Stasis crystal on detonation.
Warlock Shadebinder
The Shadebinder’s Crucible performance is generally within the top ten of all subclass trees. In Trials of Osiris matches, it had the 9th highest win rate of all subclass trees. (BTW – I’m pulling all this data from the weekend of 5/14/21, but it generally doesn’t deviate much between weekends. VOG launch weekend shook things up a bit though.) While the Shadebinder may not be the most powerful in competitive play, being frozen by its abilities takes a large emotional toll on the victim. We’ve adjusted Penumbral Blast to require more accuracy vs. players in order to turn this ability into more of a skill shot given its powerful effects.
Penumbral Blast
  • Reduced tracking and proximity detonation size and tracking vs. players.
  • Reduced freeze radius vs. players when impacting the environment from 2.7m to 1.5m.
Iceflare Bolts
  • Seeker now only chains once when spawned from a player shatter.
Winter’s Wrath
  • Freezing-projectile tracking strength now ramps down to 0 after 2s of flight.

Note that these are not the complete patch notes, but once we have them (when the patch is out), we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

You can head here for a more detailed look at the Stasis changes explained by Bungie.

Horizon Forbidden West the Most Watched State of Play, Leapfrogs Over Other Game Showcase Episodes

Just a few days ago, Sony showed off brand new gameplay for Horizon Forbidden West that, for lack of a better term, was jaw-dropping. It seems gamers are in agreement as well, as the State of Play episode featuring the game is now the most watched State of Play game showcase episode — a feat Horizon Forbidden West achieved in less than a day!

For context, here are the numbers at a glance:

What’s even more impressive here is, the reveal was just a few days ago, which means it’s bound to cross over the 3M mark in terms of views soon!

While we got to saw actual gameplay, there were also new locations that were revealed, which we go into detail right here! You might also want to check out the day & night cycle for the game, too.

This is definitely most impressive, no? While this doesn’t guarantee that the game will be a hit commercially, this is a good indicator on how much interest the gaming populace has on the title, and judging from the views it got, it’s quite a lot.

Which game do you think will beat Forbidden West’s State of Play numbers? God of War’s next entry perhaps?

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Is Getting a Sequel

One of the biggest video game kickstarter successes came from the mind some of the best Castlevania games in recent memory, and now it looks like Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is getting a well deserved sequel!

According to publisher 505 Games during their fiscal year 2020/ 2021 Q3 results presentation, they are currently developing a second version of the game — which could translate to a new sequel or possibly an enhanced version for next-gen consoles!

  • Latest creation of Koji Igarashi, the former series producer of the Castelvania franchise.

  • Worldwide publishing rights on PC and all console formats.

  • High Metacritic score (average 81).

  • €30.2 million life-to-date revenues—more than one million copies sold.

  • Expected lifetime revenues of at least €30 million.

  • Second version in development.

Bloodstained first came to mind as the brainchild of Igarashi — who considers it a spiritual successor to his Castlevania games like Symphony of the Night and launched a successful kickstarter campaign in 2015 to crowdfund the game following his departure from Konami the previous year. The Metroidvania styled game was first released for consoles and PC nearly two years ago — and has enjoyed praise and positive reviews from gamers and critics alike. Two 8-bit style games in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 1 and 2 were also released as companion pieces to Ritual of the Night — and they have equally garnered praise from fans as well.

If you love the Castlevania games and haven’t played Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night yet — check out our review of this wonderful game here.

We’ll have more news about the Bloodstained sequel/ follow-up when more information is released by ArtPlay and 505 Games.

Far Cry 6 Release Date Set for Oct. 7, Watch the Gameplay Trailers Here

As announced previously, Ubisoft has not only announced the Far Cry 6 release date, but also first look at Far Cry 6 gameplay today! Check out the gameplay below to see how it’s shaping up so far.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILHFhLjIXpY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFMLi8ekeTE&feature=youtu.be

Here’s what Far Cry 6 is all about per Ubisoft:

As local Yaran and military dropout Dani Rojas, players will be swept up in the guerrilla movement as the brutality of Antón’s rule reaches new heights and the fire of revolution ignites across the country. Players will be able to choose to play Dani as a woman or a man, and will join forces with a colorful cast of characters, including Clara Garcia, the leader of revolutionary group Libertad, or Juan Cortez, a jaded ex-KGB spy and guerrilla master as they fight their way to take down the tyrant.

To succeed against the overwhelming power of Antón’s army, players will embrace the “resolver” spirit, a philosophy of resourcefulness found across Yara, making use of everything and whatever they have to inflict chaos on the regime. Fueled by the creativity of “resolver” mastermind Juan Cortez, Far Cry 6 features a broad and unexpected arsenal of customizable “resolver” weapons and tools. From a motorcycle engine powered minigun to a homing missile throwing backpack, pushing the “resolver” spirit to the limit will grant Dani the power of an entire guerrilla army.

Far Cry 6 gives players unprecedented freedom to experience the game the way they want by supporting their playstyle, whether they prefer a stealthy or forceful approach. In addition to resolver options, players will be able to pick traditional weapons and use new ways to traverse the world such as horses, tanks and crazy DIY vehicles. They will also be able to pair up with all-new animal companions like Chorizo, the adorable wiener dog no soldier can ignore or Guapo, Juan’s soldier-hungry pet crocodile.

In solo or two-player co-op, players will explore a vast and contrasted open world, from lush jungles to decaying cities. With Antón’s army controlling the air, roads, and seas, players will operate from hidden guerrilla camps across the country, gathering soldiers and resources while planning their next move. Players will have to navigate the world and approach situations like true guerrilla fighters to make sure every strike against the regime hits hard.

Once we get more info, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
