S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadouts

S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadouts offer even more adaptability to your characters in the face of the Wasteland’s ever-growing threats by allowing you to modify or completely reboot your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attributes for free.

  • Visit a “Punch Card Machine” at any time to adjust your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. to your heart’s content, change your Perk Card selections, and save your new custom setup into a slot.
    • Your characters will gain access to S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadouts starting at level 25.
    • Currently, each character can have up to two S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadout slots, and you can swap between them using a Punch Card Machine.
    • In addition, you can rename your Loadout slots, which will help you quickly tell them apart.
  • At level 25, you’ll learn the plan to build a Punch Card Machine in your C.A.M.P. so that you can change up your Loadouts whenever you head home.
    • While in your C.A.M.P, open up the Build menu, navigate to the Crafting tab, select the Punch Card Machine, and place it down.
    • We’ve also placed Punch Card Machines at Train Stations throughout Appalachia, in The Crater, and at Foundation.
    • You can use any Punch Card Machines you find in other players’ C.A.M.P.s, as well.
  • We’ve removed the “Move-a-Point” option on the level-up screen, since S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadouts allow you to change your stats much more easily.

If you would like to learn even more about S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadouts, you can head here to watch our recent Dev Dive video or read our article on Fallout.com.

C.A.M.P. Slots

Have you ever found the perfect spot to start building a new Appalachian home, but you just couldn’t bring yourself to tear down your current C.A.M.P.? That difficult decision is a thing of the past with C.A.M.P. Slots, which allow you to build and maintain two C.A.M.P.s at once!

  • Each C.A.M.P. you construct is now saved as a C.A.M.P. Slot, which you can access and manage through the new “C.A.M.P. Slots” menu in the upper-left corner of the Map.
    • Currently, each of your characters will have access to two C.A.M.P. Slots: The C.A.M.P. you already have in-game, plus an additional Slot.
    • You can use the C.A.M.P. Slots menu to see all your current C.A.M.P. Slots, rename them, choose their Map icons, and decide whether your C.A.M.P. is visible to other players on the Map.
    • C.A.M.P. names are only visible to the player who built them.
  • You can have one active C.A.M.P. at a time, and all others will be considered “stored.”
    • Your active C.A.M.P.’s Map icon will appear gold to you.
    • If you enable your active C.A.M.P.’s Public Map Icon, it will appear on the map in white to other players. When the Public Map Icon is disabled, only you will be able to see it.
    • Only you will be able to see the icons for your stored C.A.M.P.s.
    • Additionally, powering a Vending Machine no longer automatically adds a Vendor icon to your C.A.M.P.’s location on the Map. Instead, you must set this yourself from using the C.A.M.P. Slots menu.
    • To change which C.A.M.P. you would like to use, head to the Map to click one of your C.A.M.P.s, or select it in the C.A.M.P. Slots menu, and then choose “Activate CAMP”
    • Your stored C.A.M.P.s will not load into the world, show icons to other players on the Map, or produce resources from Resource Generators.
Vending Machine and Display Case Updates
  • With the introduction of C.A.M.P. Slots, we have also made changes to the way Vending Machines and Display Cases work.
    • Your Vending Machines will have the same shared inventory across all your C.A.M.P.s, so that you will not need to reassign the items you would like to sell every time you build a new C.A.M.P.
    • We have also merged all Vending Machine item slots into a single pool, which means you will now be able to sell the maximum number of items with just one Vending Machine.
    • Other types of CAMP items, like Refrigerators and Fermenters, now also share their inventories across your different C.A.M.P.s.
    • Your Display Cases, however, are not shared across C.A.M.P.s, which will give you the ability to show off different items at each of your homes.
  • While we were working to implement C.A.M.P. Slots, we also added the ability to build and use Display Cases and Vending Machines inside of your Shelters.
    • Vending Machines in Shelters will share the same slots and item assignments as those you have built in your C.A.M.P.s.
    • Display Cases you build inside Shelters will allow you to assign different items from any Displays you may have in your C.A.M.P.
  • Finally, we’ve made an adjustment so that items you place into your Display Cases will no longer consume any of your C.A.M.P. build budget.

Daily Ops Expansion

Today’s update nearly doubles the amount of available Daily Ops content, with the addition of the new “Decryption” mode, as well as new locations, enemies, mutations, and rewards.

  • New Mode: Decryption
    • In Decryption Mode, you’re on a mission to disable three Radio Interceptors for Vernon Dodge.
    • To do this, you’ll need to hunt for three enemy “Code Carriers,” and then take them down to get a special code you can use to disable a Radio Interceptor.
    • Enemy waves you face will become more difficult after each Interceptor you disable, until you’ve killed the Daily Op boss and pulled the plug on the final Interceptor.
  • New Mutations
    • Enemies in Decryption have a new default Mutation, called Savage Strike, which makes their attacks more deadly and causes them to ignore your armor resistances.
    • We’ve also added several new Mutations to the randomized pool that can apply to enemies in any Daily Ops mode:
    • Group Regeneration: Enemies heal when grouped together.
    • Swift-Footed: Enemies have extra fast movement and melee attacks speeds.
    • Toxic Blood: On death, enemies leave behind poisonous hazard pool.
  • New Enemy Types
    • We’ve added Scorched, Mothman Cultists, and Mole Miners to the pool of randomized enemy types you may encounter in any Daily Ops mode.
  • New Locations
    • Fight your way through Vault 96, Watoga Raider Arena, and West Tek Research Center, all of which have been added to the randomized pool of locations for Daily Ops.
  • Rewards Updates
    • In this update for Daily Ops, we’re adding a host of new rewards, including new Covert Scout Armor, which has some built-in stealthy utility.
    • We’re also adding plans for the “Unstoppable Monster” and “Medical Malpractice” legendary weapons, and a variety of new plans for objects you can build in your C.A.M.P.
    • Following community feedback, we’ve also rebalanced Daily Ops rewards lists to give players a better chance at getting rare rewards.

  • World Activity Updates: The World Activity Menu now includes more than Daily Ops! It will now help you stay up-to-date with many more activities in the world, including active Nuke Zones, Events, and nearby player Vending Machines, giving you an easy way to find and Fast Travel to them.

Ace Combat 7 Update 1.70 Jets Out For Some Visual Changes on Aircraft

Bandai Namco Entertainment has released the Ace Combat 7 update 1.70 patch today, which according to the game note’s change some of the skins and cockpit designs of some aircraft.

Ace Combat 7 Update 1.70 Patch Notes

Size: 8GB on PS4, 5GB on Xbox One, and 1GB on PC

According to the PS4 history log these are the notes for the new Ace Combat update.

  • Updated the interior cockpit design of some aircraft
  • Updated skin of some aircraft
  • Miscellaneous text updates

Discoveries from the community:

  • Garuda F-15E nose color has been fixed and now is identical to its AC6 counterpart. Previously the nose was rather dark like the default AC7 F-15E scheme (Reddit
  •  ASF-X Shinden II cockpit updated (Reddit)

Nothing really specific so it’ll be up to the community to figure out which skins and cockpits have had some visual updates. We will update should any more discoveries be made or further opfficial notes be released.

While not specified in the notes, this update could potentially add support for the upcoming Experimental Aircraft Series DLC.

No release date has been given for the new DLC, though given this update does seem pretty out of the blue, we wouldn’t be surprised if it added some support once the DLC becomes available. Fingers crossed that it releases real soon.

Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Speaks About Criticism, Goals Were Super Ambitious

The controversial Cyberpunk 2077 is an on-going debate of both fans and heavy critics of the game. To try the game out for himself, many months after its release, CD Project Red’s Lead Quest Designer Pawel Sasko decided to indulge an awaiting audience by playing Cyberpunk 2077 live on his Twitch channel.

Most notably, during the end of his stream yesterday, he addressed a particular concern as to why the game was launched the way it did—citing the ambition developers had set themselves on—as well as how gamers and journalists find difficulty in understanding the developers’ point of view.

“Our goals have been super ambitious,” he said. “I don’t really feel that players and journalists fully, completely understand how difficult it was to make this game.”

He proceeds to tell the viewers, however, that it is within their right to demand for a great game. He then assures that they are continuing to deliver as requested and demanded by its many fans still playing Cyberpunk 2077.

Sasko begun his commentary filled stream on April 16, answering questions from a more than 10,000 in and out viewers. As he goes further into the game, as the story develops, Sasko goes deeply into how narrative storytelling has been his main focus and essential driver of the game. He explains certain jargon, such as what Environmental Storytelling means, and other questions that he would come by.

Sasko will continue to stream every Sunday at 8PM CEST.

A few days ago, it was reported that around 30,000 refunds have already been requested since the game’s release.

The game will also feature a new Battle Pass that’s lined up with XP boosts, and Legendary skins, among others.

For more info on what’s dropping, check this out below.

  • New 3v3 Mode – Arenas: In Arenas, players will sharpen their skills in the tight confines of new and rotating maps like Party Crasher and Phase Runner. Each round, win or lose, teams can play to their strengths as they pick a new loadout; players can also earn and spend Crafting Materials to improve options between rounds. In addition, Arenas will feature dedicated events and prizes, as well as help players gain Battle Pass levels.

  • New Legend – Valkyrie: With a jetpack forged from the remnant’s of Viper’s Northstar Titan, Valkyrie can momentarily fly above the battlefield, and when it’s time to swoop in for the kill, she can unleash a swarm of missiles to damage and disorient her enemy. This new Legend enters the Apex Games with something to prove.

  • Olympus Map Updates: Things are about to get interesting on Olympus as a rogue ship has docked on the map, bringing with it a viscous, parasitic plant of unknown origin. The infestation will offer new drop locations, changed lines of sight and more to this Arena in the sky.

Wreak Havoc With Instruments of Destruction Reveal Trailer

Have you ever dreamed of building machines of monstrosity for the sole purpose of demolishing buildings into millions of pieces? Probably not, but hey it’s definitely an awesome thought, and that’s exactly what this new game, Instruments of Destruction, is all about.

Brought to you from the lead designer of Red Faction Guerrilla, Luke Schneider, Instruments of Destruction will give players an arsenal of construction vehicles, fully customizable for whatever mayhem you have planned.

Instruments of Destruction Reveal Trailer

Key features:

  • ADVANCED PHYSICS-BASED DESTRUCTION – You can demolish every structure in the game piece by piece. In addition, every object you see in the game world–save for small decorative plants and rocks–is part of the physics system. Each element of the world interacts with each other and together they create a physical, visceral world to play with.
  • BUILD UNIQUE VEHICLES – Build a vehicle your way, with an ever-expanding array of parts and pieces. Using an intuitive vehicle construction system that also lets you customize your vehicles’ appearance and controls, you’ll always have fun creating your next awesome invention.
  • SINGLEPLAYER CAMPAIGN + PROGRESSION – The first time you unlock a level, you will be provided with everything you need to complete simple objectives, and will be required to use certain parts and adhere to certain limits.
  • HARDCORE MODE – Complete a level in the campaign, and you’ll unlock the same level in sandbox mode, and later it will become available in hardcore mode. Hardcore is similar to the main campaign, but will use more timers, add more difficult objectives, and limit the parts in different ways.
  • SANDBOX MODE – Finally, sandbox mode lets you use any unlocked part, and as many parts as you want (up to your current max based on progression), to complete more relaxed challenges on any completed level, or to just build and destroy stuff for fun.
  • FUTURE PLANS – Those 3 modes will be present at EA launch, but additional features and content will be added during Early Access. Additional details will be coming as new features are nearing completion.

Instruments of Destruction is being developed by Radiangames, a one man studio lead by Luke Schneider who worked on the Red Faction Guerilla series 10 years ago.

While messing around with different ideas, using a rolling sphere to smash through the buildings and use a vortex to pull the debris towards the sphere was quite fun, so Luke continued that direction for a few weeks, with the sphere morphing into an Obliteration Robot: Ballistic Edition. OR-BE gained many powers, including a Katamari-like ability to absorb broken pieces into a larger and larger ball of debris. A couple different control types were attempted, and it was pretty fun to smash through walls, jump high in the air and slam down, and use collected debris to take down other buildings.

Luke said in the press release,

But something was missing, and Luke was distressed by the lack of replayability outside of the destruction itself being satisfying. The setting itself was also unclear, and the art direction wobbled between cel-shaded-like visuals and a simpler direction. After some hesitation, Luke went in the direction of making OR-BE himself more complex, and using physics-based attachments instead of choosing various upgrades from a grid of possible powers and modifiers. The difficulties in taming the physics system and combining parts into one cohesive unit would be the largest technical challenge the game would face, but slowly the problems were overcome.

At this time, Luke was also discussing the game with a potential partner. In one of the calls, the partner mentioned robots weren’t particularly appealing to a lot of people and would pose marketing challenges. They asked if monsters or medieval contraptions were be a better fit. Luke’s preferred solution came to him while driving a couple days later. Construction vehicles were a perfect fit for the theme and direction of the game, and he’d enjoyed doing the 3D modeling on Speed Demons (another vehicle-heavy game). Throw the destroyable buildings onto an island so there’s some danger/tension from falling into the water, and the final direction for Instruments of Destruction seemed obvious in retrospect (the name took a few weeks to decide on).

Screenshots:

While no release date has been given for Instruments of Destruction, Luke did confirm that the title will be entering early access later 2021. At this time only PC is the focused platform for release due to resources, though because of that, Luke can focus on making it as best as possible on the platform.

The Last of Us 2 Earned 300 GOTY Awards in 2020

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us 2 is officially the winningest game in history as it bags 300 Game of the Year awards, beating The Witcher 3. The fan favorite video game on a post apocalyptic, “zombie”-infested world is now considered to be the overall GOTY awardee of 2020.

In an online tracker, TLOU2 is shown to possess 192 Media Outlet Awards and 108 Reader’s Choice Awards, totaling to the 300 — the most any game has ever hauled. The Witcher 3 had 280, with God of War behind at 260 GOTY wins collected.

For the year 2020, following close behind as runner-ups are Hades with 64 awards and Ghost of Tsushisma at 63. TLOU2 has also joined the ranks of Death Stranding, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and of course its own predecessor The Last of Us, which had also won Overall GOTY on the year they were released.

Adding to the hype brought by Naughty Dog, it has already been rumored that the first TLOU is set to be in development for the PS5 as a remake. This however, as noted, is just a rumor at this time. On the other hand, it is confirmed that the company is working on the online multiplayer for TLOUS2, more commonly known as “factions”. This doesn’t currently have a release date, but hopefully we hear more about it later this year.

There is also a HBO series in the works that will be a live adaptation of the game, with major star Pedro Pascal taking on the role of Joel, and Ellie being played by Game of Thrones Bella Ramsey. No firm release date has been given to the TV show, but seeing that it was announced last year we are likely looking at a 2022 rerelease.

Unofficial Uncharted 4 60fps Patch Enables Uncapped Framerates at the Expense of Resolution

No speed up and slow down tricks, no AI enhancements, this is Uncharted 4 running at an uncapped framerate that, at times, hit’s a solid 60 frames-per-second (fps) at a cost of image quality. Fair warning, you may want to apply some eyedrops when checking out these Uncharted 4 60fps patch’s images and video.

Similar to the recent unofficial Bloodborne 60fps patch, an unofficial method had been published by scene researcher and Modder, illusion0001 to give Uncharted 4 a boost in framerate. How? Well by lowering the game’s resolution, not to 720P, but to 540P on the base PS4 console. Here’s a few shots to show the differences.

It actually looks a lot worse when it’s in motion, but you should be able to tell the differences. There are also many graphical glitches, one of them seen above with the artifacts appearing during 540P and not in the standard resolution. Even so, this technique of cutting the resolution down proved, in our testing, that it could indeed hold a 60fps during certain segments, such as cutscenes and some combat moments.

Unofficial Uncharted 4 60fps Patch Tested

Using the information found of illusion0001’s blog, we were able to implement the 540P resolution and debug menu in a vanilla copy of Uncharted 4 (1.00) running on a jailbroken console. The results? When setting the framerate to unlock via the debug menu and applying the 540P change, we get an uncapped framerate that at times, can manage a 60fps lock (mostly cutscenes) though at a huge cost to the overall image quality.

Seeing if we could improve this further ourselves, we decided to lower the resolution to a staggering 360P. It didn’t really improve much, if only by a frame or two, but the image quality definitely took the hit.

It seems that 540P is the “sweet” spot when it comes to having an uncapped FPS experience, at least on the base PS4.

Running this modification on the PS4 Pro may prove to offer a more stable fps and at a higher resolution, though we sadly can’t test this out ourselves as we don’t own a Pro console that can run the current modification. According to illusion001 on his Youtube demonstration, the Pro should be capable of 720P during GPU powered scenes, but would likely still be limited by the CPU during combat and other scenes resulting in the same dips.

Uncharted 4 60fps Dream Might Be Achievable on PS5

If there is one major plus to this, this modification should be fully possible to run on the PS5 without huge sacrifices to the resolution. Unfortunately, this is all entirely up to Naughty Dog for public implementation, otherwise the only PS5 consoles that can run this are those that can run unsigned code, such as a dev/test unit or one that has been hacked (if there are any).

Eurogamer were fortunate enough to have witness this at first hand as they were given footage of Bloodborne running at 60fps on the PS5 back in March. Perhaps with this method now public, we may see Uncharted 4 running at a closer 60fps lock with higher resolution on the PS5 hardware than it does on jailbroken PS4s. There may be some additional work needed, as we noticed some graphical errors such as screen artifacts, however that could be due to the lower resolution and the CPU being pushed to run the uncapped FPS.

Only time will tell, though given Sony recent releases receiving a 60fps patches (Days Gone, God of War, Ratchet & Clank) perhaps the Uncharted series might be next in line to get some enhancements, along with The Last of Us Part 2. One could only hope.

Five Game Developers You Didn’t Know Where Scandinavian

Games are developed all over the world. The product you purchase and play at home could have been made by people all around the planet, and you’d never know if unless you did a little research. In this article, we’ve put together five game developers that you probably didn’t know are Scandinavian.

Avalanche Studios Group

You’ll probably know the games from this developer better than the developer themselves. They’re responsible for the phenomenal Just Cause series, but their recent work has gone more unnoticed. They made Mad Max, an open-world adventure game set in the cinematic universe of the films. The title actually sold incredibly well, and it’s still regarded as a great game. Their latest title, Generation Zero, has developed a cult following. It’s a game in which intelligent machines have overrun the world, and players must survive against them with nothing but their surroundings.

Coffee Stain Studios

This developer started as a small company with some tiny games to its name. Now though, millions of people are playing the games they make. I could name some of the more popular releases, but there’s only one that you need to know of. Valheim. That’s right. This is the developer responsible for the Viking survival epic that the world can’t get away from. If you’ve ever even heard of this game, you know how big this studio is. But I bet you had no idea they were Scandinavian.

EA DICE

EA is a colossal publisher known for some phenomenal games. This developer is the one best known for the Battlefield franchise, though. Needless to say, this is a prolific developer, one that is known globally for the quality of its games. With Battlefield among the names of the games made and Mirror’s Edge, I don’t think we need to say anymore.

Hazelight Studios

This developer is close with EA, but it isn’t EA. It’s the radical developer of It Takes Two and A Way Out. Each game requires two players. There’s no other way to play. These radical games have completely revolutionized the indie scene, and they’re both from a small developer, not a huge one like EA, though they are associated with EA.

Mojang

Before Microsoft acquired Minecraft, it was built by Mojang. This developer created possibly the largest video game on the planet before Fortnite. The title evolved with its fan base, adopting modders who improved the game in various ways. Eventually, it transformed into a colossal game that content creators played online, and it saw a resurgence in 2020. Currently, it’s still incredibly popular, and it doesn’t look like it’ll lose that popularity any time soon.

These are just five game developers that are Scandinavian. You can only imagine how many more there are out there. You can even try to play their games for free or get a casino bonus at Norges Casino Hex to play for real money. There are so many gems out there that you can’t avoid the region when it comes to gaming. Next time you pick up a game, just take a moment to consider where it was made.
