Following the day one update for Marvel’s Avengers that was released yesterday, the Marvel’s Avengers game update 1.04 September 1 patch has been released just now. Clocking in at 8GB on PS4, check out details below.

Odds are, this patch is part of the day one update given Crystal Dynamics did say that the day one update would be 18GB in total size. Yesterday’s patch was 10GB, and this one weighing in at 8GB rounds up that number quite nicely.

Marvel’s Avengers Game Update 1.04 September 1 patch notes:

Crystal Dynamics has not shared any new patch notes, or if this patch is part of the day one update. If it is, we’ve listed the changes and fixes included there that included gameplay improvements gotten from beta feedback.

  • We have addressed some graphical issues, for example when using SSSR while having TAA turned off.
  • We have solved issues with the Dynamic Screen Resolution feature, especially when it was combined with HBAO+. With those fixes we recommend turning on Dynamic Screen Resolution again (at your desired minimum frame-rate) to ensure you are able to stick to your desired frame-rate no matter how hectic the game gets.
  • We have brought in some initial improvements to our support for ultra-wide and super-ultrawide screens, with us planning more for launch.
  • Various other smaller fixes and improvements

We’re keepin an eye out and will update the post once we hear anything back from Crystal Dynamics. Don’t forget, there’s a War Table devstream happening later today that will talk about future content.

BASE GAME

Performance Improvements

  • Server Optimization & Stability
    • Through optimizations to database workers, the game’s access to the database has been refined to ensure the system does not become overloaded when part of it generates a large amount of traffic or messages for a particular task. The optimizations ensure that there are enough database workers focused on the highest-priority critical game functions.
    • Server performance has been improved in one of the least performant cases by distributing Trials more evenly across the system. This should ensure better overall performance in Trials, reducing the likelihood of getting a “bad instance” where enemies behave abnormally and latency is higher than normal.
  • Client Optimization & Stability
    • When using many different game assets, memory usage can spike and potentially get high enough to crash the game. We’ve made improvements to how the client handles these critical memory situations, better managing and prioritizing the most important elements in a scene. The chance that your game could crash in these situations has been significantly reduced.
    • Optimized the initial login flow; the time required to load when logging into character selection has been reduced.
    • Made some optimizations to reduce hitches when setting different outfits.

Character Pathing in Housing
You can now tell your pets, mounts, and assistants to follow custom paths in your home! This new functionality is available to everyone, regardless of DLC ownership or ESO Plus status.

  • To set up a path, first enter the housing editor and target a pet, mount, or assistant. You’ll see a new “Create Path” keybind; hit that to start making your path. Once selected, you’ll see a node underneath that character, and another node held in your hand like a furnishing.
    • You can use these nodes to mark the path you want that character to follow, and once you confirm your path edits, the character will immediately start walking down the path from node to node.
  • You can place up to 30 nodes per path.
  • You can also fine-tune your path with the following settings!
    • Movement speed to each node (Walk, Jog, Run, or Sprint)
    • Wait time at each node (0 seconds, 3 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 3 minutes)
    • Path type:
      • Ping Pong – The character will walk down the path until they hit the end, and then walk back to the beginning.
      • Loop – The last node in the path will be connected back to the first node, forming a circle.
      • Random – Each time the character reaches a node, they will choose their next location at random from the rest of the nodes in the path.
  • If you’d like to swap out the character on the path, no need to recreate the path from scratch – you’ll find a “Change Object” button in the Path Settings menu in each path, allowing you to swap in a new character from your collection.
  • As part of these changes, we’ve moved some keybinds that previously appeared at the bottom of the screen to the center of the screen near your targeting reticule, similar to where the interact prompt normally appears.

New Furnishings

  • Solitude Furnishing Plans
    • 24 new Solitude furnishing plans can now be earned from Skyrim Daily Reward Coffers, acquired by completing dailies for the Swords of Solitude or the Coterie of Organized Scholars in Western Skyrim.
    • These plans include a variety of structural furnishings, as well as a small number of new courtyard furnishings.
  • Mastercraft Mediator Furnishing Plans
    • Rollis Hlaalu, the Mastercraft Mediator, has added seven new furnishing plans to his wares:
      • Blueprint: Solitude Game, Blood-on-the-Snow
      • Design: Solitude Smoking Rack, Fish
      • Diagram: Vampiric Chandelier, Azure Wrought-Iron
      • Formula: Winter Cardinal Painting, Work in Progres
      • Pattern: Solitude Loom, Warp-Weighted
      • Praxis: Ancient Nord Monolith, Head
      • Sketch: Blackreach Geode, Iridescent
    • He’s also reduced the price for the following seven older plans to 100 Writ Vouchers from 125, but will only sell them to those who have unlocked the “Unsurpassed Crafter” achievement:
      • Blueprint: Elsweyr Well, Covered
      • Design: Elsweyr Bread Basket, Feast-Day
      • Diagram: Elsweyr Gong, Ornate
      • Formula: Elsweyr Mortar and Pestle, Engraved
      • Pattern: Elsweyr Bed, Senche-Raht
      • Praxis: Khajiit Sigil, Moon Cycle
      • Sketch: Elsweyr Game, Swan Stones
  • Achievement Furnishings
    • You’ll also find two new achievement furnishings on Undaunted Quartermasters, unlocked for purchase by completing the associated dungeons:
      • Castle Thorn Gargoyle
      • Stone Garden Tank, Rootbound

Battlegrounds Outfit Styles Rework
We’ve improved the experience of earning the original 3 Battlegrounds Outfit Style Pages: Firedrake, Pit Daemon, and Stormlord. Previously, obtaining the final few pieces of each outfit style could take a very long time, and those pieces became incredibly rare. These outfit pieces are now obtainable at a steady and standard rate.

Outfit Style Cost Reductions
After re-evaluating some extreme in-game gold pricing for certain outfit pieces, we have reduced the gold cost for applying the following Outfit Styles by 50% from the following sets:

  • Motifs
    • Apostle Motif Pieces
    • Ashlander Motif Pieces
    • Celestial Motif Pieces
    • Ebonshadow Motif Pieces
    • Ebony Motif Pieces
    • Glass Motif Pieces
    • Hlaalu Motif Pieces
    • Certain Honor Guard Motif Pieces
    • Redoran Motif Pieces
    • Telvanni Motif Pieces
  • Outfits
    • Worm Cult Motif Pieces
    • Fire Drake Outfit Pieces
    • Glenmoril Outfit Weapons
    • Gloomspore Outfit Weapons
    • Greymoor Lycanthrope
    • Pit Daemon Outfit Pieces
    • Storm Lord Outfit Pieces
  • Single Weapons
    • Sword of Jyggalag
    • Antiquities Pickaxe
    • Skull of Corruption
    • Spellbreaker Shield

New Motifs
The Sea Giant Motif chapters can now be obtained from completing the weekly quest for completing Kyne’s Aegis. The style item, Sea Snake Fang, can be acquired from bosses inside the trial.

Gamepad Mode Scaling
A gamepad version of the Custom Scale setting can now be found in the gamepad Video settings. This setting provides control over the size of UI elements within gamepad mode. The keyboard version of this setting still only impacts UI elements outside of gamepad mode, and the two settings can be customized independently of each other.

Developer Comment:

Spoiler

General

  • Fixed an issue where some projectiles could hover around your character in some very rare cases.
  • Fixed an issue where newly equipped weapons could occasionally not appear.
  • Your characters have now been taught more eloquent manners, and eat more subtly if blocking. This will fix an issue where eating while holding block could result in truly barbaric visual results.
  • Fixed an issue where cast time abilities could miss an invisible target while a detection potion was active.
  • Fixed an issue where abilities that cost health and dealt damage would fail to be incorporated in a Target Dummy’s Damage Per Second calculation reports.
  • Fixed an issue where you were sometimes unable to cast abilities after weaving specific abilities.

Buffs and Debuffs

  • Fixed numerous instances where Minor Vulnerability from certain sources, such as Teleport Strike, were not being detected properly by sets like Icy Conjuror.

Dragonknight

  • Ardent Flame
    • Dragonknight Standard: Fixed an issue where the visual effects for this ability and its morphs could end early in some cases.
      • Shifting Standard (morph): Fixed an issue where this ability would last longer than intended in some cases.
  • Draconic Power
    • Dragon Blood
      • Coagulating Dragon Blood (morph): Increased the base healing of this ability by approximately 12% to ensure it’s closer in line with other heals, such as Breath of Life. With this new value, the heal for Coagulating should be slightly weaker than these heals (Breath of Life, Blood Sacrifice, etc.) while above 50% Health, but slightly stronger than them while below 50% Health. The deviation in healing effectiveness will be between 0 and 16.5%.
    • Inhale
      • Deep Breath (morph): This morph’s explosion now deals 25% more damage. The initial hit no longer ranks up by 1.1% damage per rank, but the final hit now does.
      • Draw Essence (morph): This morph now heals for up to 147% of the damage done, up from 100%, and ranks up by 1% per rank. The final explosion of this ability no longer increases by 1.1% damage per rank.
    • Protective Scales: Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs’ animation was reversed.

Necromancer

  • Fixed an issue where casting a tether ability could sometimes cause your character to turn around and face the opposite direction you were facing.
  • Fixed multiple issues with corpse targeting for Necromantic abilities such as Shocking Siphon.
  • Grave Lord
    • Frozen Colossus
      • Pestilent Colossus (morph): Fixed an issue where the damage from this Ultimate could be dodged, despite being a player-sourced Area of Effect attack.
    • Shocking Siphon
      • Detonating Siphon (morph): This ability’s final explosion now occurs when the tether ends for any reason, rather than only if the final duration was met.
  • Bone Tyrant
    • Grave Grasp: This ability has received significant improvements to its functionality and now does the following:
      • The first area now snares enemies hit by 30%, down from 50%.

    • Strife:
      • Increased the damage done for this ability and the Funnel Health morph by approximately 39% to ensure they properly adhere to Heal over Time standards.

      • Puncturing Sweeps (morph): Fixed an issue where the heal from this ability was based on the damage of the initial hit, rather than the amount of damage done to each individual target, resulting in a significant reduction to healing when hitting multiple targets. With this fix, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the Templar’s ability to stay in the thick of the fight.

Wasteland 3 Update 1.06 August 31 patch notes:

Here’s what developer IniXile Entertainment had to say about today’s patch:

Hot fix rolling out globally for PlayStation 4 over the next hour. Xbox One expected later today.

  • Improvements to memory usage that can result in a more stable play experience
  • Resolved an issue where certain players could not progress past the intro movie

Yep, that seems to be it for today’s Wasteland 3 update. Given the game has a multiplayer component, expect a review here from MP1st! We’re currently playing through it and will give our verdict once we’ve finished the game.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, here’s info straight from the devs.:

About Wasteland 3:

In Wasteland 3 you take command of a squad of Desert Rangers, lawmen and women in a post-nuclear world, trying to rebuild society from the ashes. More than a century after the bombs fell, you’re fighting a losing battle to keep your beloved Arizona alive. Then the self-proclaimed Patriarch of Colorado radios, promising aid if you’ll do a job he can only entrust to an outsider—rescue his land from the ambitions of his three bloodthirsty children.
You’re dispatched on a desperate quest from the scorching deserts to the snowy mountains to start from scratch, building a new base, finding a snow-worthy vehicle, training new recruits, and fighting your way through hostile frozen wastes. All the while, you’ll have to decide who to trust in this land torn apart by corruption, intrigue, warring factions, crazed cultists, cutthroat gangs, and bitter sibling rivalries. Build a reputation for yourself by making decisions that will profoundly impact Colorado, its inhabitants and the story you experience. Will you be Colorado’s savior or its worst nightmare?
Wasteland 3 is a squad-based RPG from inXile entertainment, featuring challenging tactical turn-based combat and a deep, reactive story full of twists, turns, and brutal ethical decisions that will keep you hooked whether you’re a Wasteland veteran or new to the series. Create a squad of up to six Rangers and customize them with perks and abilities geared to your playstyle. You even get your own battle truck, which you can upgrade into a hardened war beast, bristling with weapons, to help mow down your enemies.

Black Ops Cold War Beta Launch Date Is Oct. 8, First on PS4

While we’re getting the official Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal next week, it seems beta news has made its way out even before that. Thanks to an in-store leak, the Black Ops Cold War beta launch date is now known as October 8, and same as in past Call of Duty betas, the PS4 version will get first dibs!

In an update issued for Call of Duty WWII, Treyarch has added some promotional pre-order links for Black Ops Cold War. Tucked in the description is the official start date for the Black ops Cold War Alpha.

As you can see, it clearly states that early access to the open beta begins on the PS4 on October 8. If this follows the yearly Call of Duty beta roll out, then other platforms can expect it a week after on October 15. Of course, given this isn’t an official announcement by Activision, take it with a grain of salt. That said, since it was taken and shown on the WWII in-game shop, this is most likely, certainly the real deal.

Will we see a Black Ops Cold War alpha before the beta though? We did find out that an alpha file was uploaded and updated on the PlayStation Network.

Marvel’s Avengers Game Weekly Events and Resets Revealed

With Marvel’s Avengers confirmed to be a game that gets updated regularly with missions and even cosmeticsm, some might be wondering if there are weekly events and whatnot to look forward to as well. Crytal Dynamics has shed a light on that with the Marvel’s Avengers game weekly events and resets info dump.

According to Crystal Dynamics, Events will vary in terms of scope in the sense that some will take place over a week, others will be seasonal, and some will have cosmetics and gear tied to these events for a limited time.

Marvel’s Avengers Game Weekly Events and Resets:

Events

Missions: the WAR TABLE is dynamic and will feature unique content throughout the week.

  • Modified Missions: Each week we will designate Priority Missions and Priority HARM Challenges that offer up unique rewards for completing them with an assortment of modifiers.
  • New Mission Modes: Two new mission types will debut shortly after launch – one that focuses on co-op play and will only appear over the weekend, and another that uses your full roster of heroes in a challenging gauntlet of solo play.

Assignments: Marvel’s Avengers features various Factions, each with their own in-game Vendors. SHIELD & Inhuman Vendors will give you daily and weekly assignments that help increase your Faction level. The higher your faction level, the more Gear and Artifacts that Faction Vendor will give you access to. Faction items rotate daily and weekly. Make sure to go grab all your Faction dailies when you login, because they can be completed as you play through other missions.

Hero Challenge Cards: Daily and weekly challenges help you earn points to progress and unlock content on your Hero Challenge Cards. As with Faction assignments, Hero Card challenges can be completed as you play through other missions.

Community Challenges: These weekly challenges ask the global player base to team up to achieve a specific goal – such as destroying 500,000 Synthoids. When completed, the entire player base receives a unique reward (such as nameplates) reserved for these weekly challenges. Once a month, PlayStation players will get an exclusive Community Challenge.

Vendor & Marketplace Rotation

  • Vendor Rotation: In-game Gear Vendors have an inventory that rotates once per hour, so there is always something unique to shop for. Cosmetic Vendors have a stock of outfits, emotes, and nameplates that rotate once per day – although Legendary Outfits stick around for the full week.
  • Marketplace Rotation: The Marketplace also refreshes weekly.

In addition to the stuff mentioned above, there are more to be revealed regarding Outposts and Operations! Check out the stuff touched upon today, though bear in mind, more will be discussed during the upcoming War Table devstream on September 1.

New Content

In addition to weekly gameplay loops, new content will ensure play stays fresh. Tune into the Marvel’s Avengers WAR TABLE to learn more about:

  • Outposts: Outposts are explorable places with friendly faces and unique vendors.
  • Operations: We’ve previously talked a lot about missions but have been intentionally secretive about Operations. Tune into the launch edition of Marvel’s Avengers WAR TABLE to get the scoop on Operations, and the new hero that will debut with our first Operation drop!

It looks like future heroes won’t have a dearth of content for Marvel’s Avengers, then. Aside from rotating cosmetics, there will be weekly resets of missions too, which should be familiar to those that play Destiny 2 or The Division 2.

Gotham Knights Developers Reveal Why Tim Drake Is Their Version of Robin

As one of the first panels held during last weekend’s highly successful DC FanDome virtual event, “Gotham Knights” was WB Games Montreal’s reveal as their long awaited follow-up to their critically acclaimed “Batman: Arkham Origins” — only this time you play as one of The Dark Knight’s sidekicks in Nightwing, Red Hood, Robin, and Batgirl. With Bruce Wayne and his alter ego apparently dead, players will now have the chance to play as his proteges in a new story that has been confirmed to be unrelated to Batman Arkham universe.

One of the first questions that popped up in fans minds was the identity of Robin in the game. As several crime fighters took on the name including Bruce Wayne’s own biological son Damian, it was finally confirmed post-DC FanDome that Tim Drake was the Robin featured in the game. The costume and design was an amalgamation of Tim and Damian, but ultimately it was Drake who came out on top. Speaking to Comic Book.com, Gotham Knights Creative Director  Patrick Redding revealed why it had to be Tim behind the red and green costume:

“So Tim Drake was our Robin choice right from the start and for reasons that I’m not going to get it to yet, because it does tie into the broader arc of the story, and we will talk about that a little later,” Redding said. “Tim was the right Robin to be the newest Robin for where we’re at, and as well for us, it allowed us to have a teenage Robin who was nevertheless still a physically formidable and physically credible fighter. Even though he has more of a stealth focus and a bit more of a focus in terms of how he’s using his gadgets and using the tricks and detective intuition that he has, we still wanted a Robin that could credibly go through a full evolutionary arc that would end with him being the new Dark Knight of Gotham City.”

“So that for us made a lot of sense, and it’s great because if you’re familiar with the lore and you know your way around the various stories about Tim Drake, it’s not like completely unexplored territory,” Redding said. “People have asked the question of, ‘Where’s Tim going? What’s he turning into?’ People sense that he might be a better detective than Bruce Wayne on some level, but he also has some of Bruce’s other core idiosyncrasies as well and what is that going to evolve into? So for us, it’s really fun, narratively and in terms of his progression. He’s a character who I love thinking about because what kind of urban legend does Tim Drake create about himself when he is on the path to Knighthood?”

For more Gotham Knights action and gameplay, check out our post on the gameplay footage released by DC. The game is slated for a 2021 release window for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Destiny 2 Log in Issues for August 30 Acknowledged by Bungie (Update)

For those trying to get in on some Destiny 2 (or Destiny 1) action today, some might have encountered Destiny 2 log in issues, which is a bummer given it’s the weekend and all.

Over on Twitter, the official Bungie Support account confirmed that “partner service providers” are the cae of these Destiny 2 logging in errors. Note that this is happening to both Destiny 1 and Destiny 2.

Per Bungie’s Support Twitter:

We are investigating issues causing players to be unable to play Destiny 1 and Destiny 2.

Another tweet wherein it addressed that it is the partner service providers’ issues:

We’ve identified an issue with partner service providers as the cause of Destiny 1 and 2 players being unable to log in. We’re continuing to investigate this issue.

Players trying to log back into the games may experience various error codes or be placed in a login queue.

Once this issue is sorted, we’ll update the post. Hopefully, it won’t take long given it’s the weekend and all.

If you’re one of the people affected by this, you might want to catch up on some reading regarding Destiny 2. Bungie has given us a sneak peek at the upcoming patch slated for September 8.

You can also check out what Xur is selling this week, as well as the latest Trials of Osiris rewards here.

Black Ops Cold War Content Packs Spotted on Xbox Store

Now that Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the game has now been uploaded to each platform holder’s respective online stores, so fans can pre-order the title. Over on the official Xbox Store, a bunch of tems called Black Ops Cold War Content Packs can be spotted alongside the game.

Check out the images that shows the Black Ops Cold War Content Packs from Pack 1 to Pack 4.

Checking the pack itself, it only states “This pack contains Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War content” and nothing more. Could this be for COD Points, which we’re sure will once again make an appearance in Black Ops Cold War? The chances of these being anything related to maps are slim to none given Activision has confirmed that the Black Ops Cold War post-launch model will follow Modern Warfare’s and Warzone’s.

Of course, we’re hoping these aren’t the data packs similar to Modern Warfare’s given Infinity Ward’s shooter has taken up an enormous space in our respective gaming machine’s HDD.

In other Black Ops Cold War news, we reported earlier today that a Black Ops Cold War alpha was uploaded and also updated on the PlayStation Network! For those looking forward to the beta, Activision will be giving away 10,000 beta keys tomorrow during the Call of Duty League Championships!

Make sure to tune in this September 9 for the official multiplayer reveal.

Black Ops Cold War Alpha Shows Up Internally on PSN Ahead of Multiplayer Reveal

With a little over a week to go until the official multiplayer reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it would appear that developers Treyarch have issued a new update for what is known as the alpha build of this year’s Call of Duty game. Not to be mistaken with The Red Door, which leaked months ago, this new file features a completely new PSN ID and has multiple versions for different regions (NA, EU, JP, AS) with the given name of “Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War – Alpha.” An update, which we pulled off the patch tracker site PS4Patches, was issued last night for all available regions the title is in.

In the available file, the previous leaked alpha images currently circulating Twitter along with the save image and PS4 boot image were all contained inside. Obviously due to possibly receiving a DMCA takedown we cannot share the images from the file. Speaking to a close source, the Black Ops Cold War Alpha PS4 build (1.00) had apparently been on PSN the last month or two.

What exactly could this mean? Well, for those who remember, last year Infinity Ward released an exclusive 2v2 Modern Warfare Gunfight Alpha for the PS4. Could Black Ops Cold War have a similar mode going into alpha testing as well? While the alpha file appearing on PSN in no way guarantees it will see a public release, it is a bit odd that the team would issue an update for all available regions, let alone have an entirely different uploaded build to the one they already have.

Hopefully this does mean some sort of early alpha is planned, though the best chance of that being announced is next month during the multiplayer reveal. We’ll be sure to keep you all posted if any new developments surfaces.

Black Ops Cold War is set to launch this November 13 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s also been confirmed for next-gen platforms, though it’ll be priced a wee bit higher.

Solstice of Heroes: Ornament Glows

Shortly after Solstice went live, we became aware of a difference between how the universal armor glow bundle icon was depicted and how it visually performed in the game. After investigating the issue, we felt the difference between them was too vast. We have revisited the glow intensity of these ornaments and enhanced the in-game appearance to match the icon as closely as possible.

Sleeper Nodes

With additional Destiny Content Vault details available, we’re seeing many players returning to content released in the earlier years of Destiny 2. Some players are hunting Triumphs, while others are focusing on rewards. One of these rewards is the unique emblem players unlock after collecting all the available Sleeper Nodes introduced in Destiny 2: Warmind.

Due to the way that the Sleeper Nodes were created, we are unable to completely remove the possibility of receiving duplicate Override Frequencies, but we are making some improvements to greatly reduce the odds of receiving a duplicate. The following tips will help you avoid duplicates and acquire those final elusive nodes.

  • When combining Resonate Stems, it is very unlikely that the resulting Override Frequency will unlock a node in your current area. For example, if you need to unlock a node in Heatsink, you should leave Heatsink before creating an Override Frequency.
  • Destiny 2 has an internal checklist of nodes you have unlocked. This checklist is separate from the count you see in game, and prior to this fix, the checklist would frequently be cleared. Clearing this checklist is the reason duplicates were so common. Going forward, the checklist will never be cleared.
    • Note: If you create an Override Frequency for a node that you have opened in the past, you should open the node again instead of deleting the Override Frequency. This will allow the internal checklist to be updated, and help prevent future duplicates.

In different terms, the team has created a form of “bad luck protection” for Sleeper Nodes, but the tracking is starting fresh. Get hunting, and you’ll be unlocking a unique emblem before you know it.

Assorted Fixes and Changes

  • Fixing an issue where player spawn effects would freeze in Gambit.
  • Fixing an issue where the ADS on the Cold Denial Season Pass ornament was different than the base weapon model.
  • Redrix’s Broadsword will now be available to reclaim from Collections.
    • Note: This will be locked to the first roll rewarded when completing the Broadsword quest.
  • Spider will begin offering three weekly “Wanted” adventure bounties, up from one.
  • Fixing an issue that prevented the Exotic perk on the Merciless Fusion Rifle from triggering.

Again, this is not the full list of patch notes. Based on the changes, this seems to be an actual client-side patch. Once we know more details, we’ll let our readers know.
