Report: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 F2P Version Release Date Set for This Month

If you’re looking for more free games to play on your PS4 this March, and you’re a fighting game fan, you’re in luck! It seems Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is getting the free-to-play (F2P) version later this month!

In the latest issue of Japan’s V-Jump magazine, it mentions that a Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 F2P version called “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite” will be made available on March 20 in Japan for the PS4! Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite will include the beginning of the story, Parallel Quests, Photo Mode, My Raids, all of Hero Colosseum, and even online matches!

For those wondering whether this will be available out in the US, the short answer is “maybe?” Earlier today, the PlayStation Blog’s “The Drop” has included Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Lite as part of the weekly releases, and it also marked it down for March 20. However, as of this moment, that listing has since been pulled.

Given how popular Dragon Ball is out west, it’s doubtful Bandai Namco won’t make a Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 F2P version available in the US.

If you’re looking for another F2P fighting game, Dead or Alive 6 Core Fighters is currently out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Report: EA Access PS4 Leak Spotted on Brazilian PSN Store

If you’re an Xbox One gamer, and you like EA’s games, chances are, you’ve tried or you’re currently a member of EA Access; EA’s subscription-based gaming service, which is similar to Origin Access for PC.

While the service isn’t available on PS4, could that be changing soon? Over on Reddit user Sabazin posted a picture of an EA Access PS4 image which he allegedly nabbed from the PlayStation Store.

ea access ps4

According to another Reddit user, the text when translated says, “EA Access now available.”

If this is legit, then this should further aid gamers, as PS Plus members can take advantage of it, and get quite a handful of “free” games every month when you factor this one, and the monthly PS Plus freebies.

We’ve reached out to EA to seek a comment and will update the post if we hear anything back.

What EA Sports Games Need to Become Legitimate eSports

The world of eSports has taken off over the last five years to the point where its potential and entertainment value has reached the mainstream. The industry has been built around balanced games of skill that often feature teams. Many people would expect the ever-popular licensed sports titles from Electronic Arts – FIFA, NHL, Madden – to be among the most popular eSports due to their likeness to already established, heavily followed traditional sports, but EA’s titles have greatly struggled for legitimacy and fandom on the competitive scene.

EA knows this and, as reported by GamesIndustry, they’re trying to build an emotional attachment, as traditional sports do, to the teams and players of their eSports effort to join the likes of DOTA 2, League of Legends, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as the big eSports titles. But there are far more fundamental issues stopping the traditional sports titles from being considered legitimate eSports.

Change the focus to another game mode to bring in real skill

The primary issue that most eSports fans have with games like Madden and FIFA on the competitive scene is that the user only has control of one player at a time, and so the user plays a diminished role in the eventual result of each game.

EA pushes its cash cow Ultimate Team mode as its eSport, where users who input more money to get better players gain an advantage through the players that they won’t be directly using most of the time. SB Nation sees this as a major stumbling point also, as in true eSports, users succeed or fail on their play

It comes down to being an issue of balancing and whether or not true gaming skill is actually on show. However, not only do users continue to play the game and compete knowing full well of the imbalances in play, but third parties offer odds on FIFA German Bundesliga matches, legitimising the competitive gaming scene as they deem it to be fair and viable for betting alongside the other major eSports.

Still, the game mode being pushed allows for easy criticism of EA Sports titles being considered as legitimate eSports, while a switch to the Pro Clubs game modes – where full in-game teams are comprised of each user controlling only one created player – would go a long way towards creating a game of skill and teamwork.

Make people care about the major tournaments

A major sign of an eSport’s legitimacy is the size of its audience, and the EA titles simply don’t have one unless they offer small in-game perks to those who tune-in. One problem behind getting viewers is that people who are interested in seeing a sport play out can watch the real-world sport. In other eSports, the top games on display don’t mirror anything that consumers could enjoy in the real-world, enabling the brand of entertainment to fill a niche.

In real-world traditional sports, people who are highly skilled compete for coveted trophies with their efforts being recognised and appreciated by viewers who then become fans. In the competitive play of EA Sports titles right now, the gamers control very little of the field and are competing for comparatively measly rewards.

In 2017, EA reported a massive $1.68 billion in digital content revenue, per Tweak Town – a great deal of which will be from people paying for packets in Ultimate Team – and yet all they’re willing to put up for their ‘big push’ into eSports is a $400,000 prize pool for their ‘prestigious’ FIFA eWorld Cup 2018 tournament when DOTA 2’s The International has surpassed $20 million in each of the last three tournaments.

If EA Sports wanted to become a legitimate name in eSports, they would switch the focus to a more skill-based format like Pro Clubs and offer a prize pool big enough to make people care about the result.

How Technology Has Revolutionized Video Games

Video gaming has and always will be one of the most lucrative industries, both online and offline. The niche dominates the online market, especially since social video gaming became popular. Now almost everyone is part of this fun past time, and even grandma is asking for cheats to get to the next level. And while it may be a hobby for some, others are lucky enough to play video games for a living and get paid. So how did video gaming get to where it is today? How has it become so popular and how has it become so accessible? The answer is a simple one; technology. Modern tech has brought the success of video gaming, it is the platform that has powered it and made it popular. We take a look at how technology has revolutionized video games and made them what they are today.

Accessibility of Video Games

If you look at video gaming at online casinos, technology has provided an easily accessible interactive platform to real cash video gaming as well as free gaming thanks to free slots and other popular casino games. As a video gamer, you are able to access all the games at a land based casino establishment, except now you have a wider variety to choose from and you can do so without having to travel. That leads us to the next revolutionary aspect of how tech has made video gaming really convenient. You don’t have to cruise to your friends place to play against someone, you have access to an entire online world of players starved for a gaming buddy. Even online gambling grants you access to tournaments which includes players from all over the world.

Gaming Quality of Video Games

If you look at the graphics of video games in the 90’s and compare them to today’s video games, there’s a vast difference. Technology has evolved throughout the years to deliver these high definition graphics. What was once a block-figured Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, is now curvaceous and crystal clear image which is the only way in 2019. The only time old graphics are allowed is when we play arcade or some indie games.

Sound Effects

The sound effects in video gaming have drastically improved and there is tons more variety. Back in the day, you wouldn’t know what an RPG sounded like, but now we do. For avid video gamers, the sound quality is a massive element of quality gaming. In fact, true die hard gamers have installed the best sound systems to their PC’s and TV’s to feel a truly immersive experience.

VR Gaming

This is the ultimate example of how technology has revolutionized a mainstream market. VR gaming, or virtual reality gaming, is where the player enters the game which has been made possible through a three dimensional world which allows you to touch and interact with object and characters through VR gaming headsets. The Oculus Rift is the most popular VR headset on the market and technology has enabled users to explore the 3D realm of gaming. What’s more is technology has evolved so much that you can download these VR games to your mobile device and play anywhere in the world whenever you want.

In conclusion, we see technology is the reason video gaming is a thriving industry and with that being said we can look forward to many more changes within both the technology world and video gaming. Tech is bound to deliver some pretty awesome changes before 2020. If virtual video gaming is a thing of the present, just imagine what the future holds!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Combat Record to Have an “Incoming Answer ASAP” From Treyarch

If you’re a hardcore Call of Duty fan, chances are you’ve been looking forward to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Combat Record release as soon as Treyarch said it would be coming “in a week.” Mind, that was way back in October, and up to now, we still don’t know when it will be released, or if it’ll ever see the light of day.

With the community constantly up in arms about it, we finally have an update! Well, sort of! Over on Twitter, Treyarch Design Director David Vonderhaar has tweeted that we’ll be getting an answer regarding it soon from the studio, and that he’s not in a position to talk about it.

Great points. We have an answer coming. I am not in the position to talk about it until we lock some things down. It’s a valid question with a incoming answer ASAP. It’s not quite as simple as people think —but that’s an excuse to come short of your expectations.

Chances are, that’s not the answer Black Ops 4 players want to hear, but at least it got acknowledged, right? Let’s hope “ASAP” means we’ll get an update within the week, and once we do, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

In other Black Ops 4 news, there’s an on-going free DLC trial for multiplayer players right now, as well as double XP for all modes!

Are you still looking forward to the Black Ops 4 Combat Record or you don’t care about your stats given how often it’s been pushed back?

Apex Legends Jump Pads for Octane’s Ultimate Found in the Game, Watch It in Action

Just two weeks ago, we posted what was reported to an upcoming Legend in Apex Legends named Octane. In our post, a screenshot showcasing Octane’s abilities were detailed, and it mentioned how his ultimate ability is the “Launch Pad,” which lets characters catapult themselves into the air.

Well, it seems that these jump pads are in the game as we speak! Multiple members of the community have spoken out on seeing these Apex Legends jump pads throughout the games map!

You can even watch it in action! Check out the clip below (via B1GBEN1810):

Needless to say, this introduction in the game’s map has caused quite a stir in the community, as people assumed we’d be getting Octane today. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case just yet.

We still don’t know whether Octane will drop today or this weekend, and Respawn Entertainment developer Josh Media only chimed in with an all-knowing wink.

Once we know more details about this, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. In other Apex Legends news, Respawn has commented on the datamined files, and gives a super brief update on the Battle Pass.

Anthem Power Scaling Broken Down Using Math Proves Loot Doesn’t Matter, BioWare Says It’ll Be Fixed in Next Patch

Just last week, we reported on how one gamer found out that the Defender level 1 rifle in Anthem trumped the other high level weapons, and even those in the Masterwork range, which BioWare said was a bug,

Today, though, there’s a good reasoning as to why this sort of thing is happening in Anthem, and it doesn’t look good. Reddit user TemperHoof has broken down Anthem power scaling, and why actual loot doesn’t matter. If you think this is hyperbole, the same user dives deep and uses math to prove why, and even gives steps how to replicate it. Check out the explanation below, which as of press time, has over seven thousand upvotes!

The Million Damage Ranger

Let me first demonstrate the fundamental flaw right out of the gate. If you have a Legendary Item, it does not matter which kind, you too can replicate these results with relative ease. This is because the item itself doesn’t matter anymore, merely the Power Score.

> Note: This means the only viable inscription is the Javeline-Wide DMG% Bonus, as it plays extremely well with Power Scale equation.

Note2: This is merely an example, this is not a post exploring why you should wear 1 Legendary piece and be a Glass Cannon. It’s merely a demonstration of the system, please continue reading.

How Power Scaling Works in 1.0.3

Some of you may have caught wind of the whole ‘Remove your Support Item to do more Melee/Ultimate Damage’ thing, well there is much more to it than you might think. To summarize, Combined Power Score is utterly pointless. The game instead just averages what you have physically equipped that isn’t level one, and combines that number into a simple variable to select an arbitrary multiplier not related to your equipment.

Part One: How To Determine your Real Power Level

There are 45 Power Levels in the game. Simply accumulate the Average of all equipped parts to determine it.

> Example: The Million Damage Ranger has equipped one Power 75 item in the [Q] Gear Slot, and nothing else.

The game doesn’t factor in Power 1 equipment at all, thus you do not factor them in at all.

This results in:

> (75+0)/1=Power Level 75

T0 further clarify, let me provide another example below:

> Example: In this instance we have a player with 2 Legendary weapons, 2 Legendary gear, 1 Epic support, and six components, one of which is Legendary and the rest are Masterwork. This creates a total sum of 718. But 718 is not the Power Level of this Ranger, it’s actually 65.

> ((75*5)+(61*5)+(38))/11=Power Level 65

Technically 65.27, but you always round down.

Part Two: The Arbitrary Multiplier

Why do I call it the Arbitrary Multiplier? Because it has no relation to your Power Level or Power Score what so ever, it’s merely a number on a chart. I specified before, there are 45 Relevant Power Levels. They range from 30 to 75. Technically those before 30 exist, but they factor so low it’s no point mentioning them. The key though is level 31 is officially the starting point where your damage begins to scale beyond 1.0.

> The base Multiplier at level 30 for Damage is 7.466, this is equal to 1.0 on the Scale. All multipliers beyond there go up in very enigmatic increments all the way up to 75.

>Example: Power Level 35 = 1.414

You take that number multiply it by 7.466, this will be your base Melee Damage on a Ranger (I only tested Ranger).

>(7.466*1.414)=10.5569

10.5569 becomes the core number in which you multiply your Melee Damage, which for a Ranger is 100 at Level 1.

>(10.5569*100)=1055.69 (All Damage Rounds Up), so 1056.

Furthermore, your AoE Smash Attack is always +50% of that (something developers forgot about, I will explain later).

>1056+50%=1584 (Rounded Up)

What these examples demonstrate is simple. If you want to find out the Arbitrary Multiplier for your Power Level, simply remove all Damage Modifying gear and literally melee anything. As long as your melee is 100 at level 1 (just put on a Default set to double check), take the Melee Damage Number you see and divide by 100, then divide by 7.466, and you’ll get your Arbitrary Power Level Multiplier.

The multiplier at Power Level 75 is 22.622, and this is what I want to highlight. This number is insanely high. So high in fact that it will inadvertently overwrite inscriptions. This means you’re constantly playing a game of Diminishing Returns, and your true goal is to try and keep your Power Level higher than your Power Score.

Part Three: Placement Matters

In my example of the Million Damage Ranger seen above, I said that it didn’t matter where you put the Legendary. This is not entirely accurate if you are truly trying to maximize your Damage Output. The reason why I expressed that Melee Damage was the easiest way to determine your Modifier is because it is immune to the principles of Gear Placement.

Another element influenced by your Power Level Multiplier is your Ultimate; however, where you equip your highest level item matters dramatically. Only equipping a Legendary Component or Legendary Ability (Q or E) will reduce your Ultimate’s Potential damage by 10% or more. Your Ultimate’s full Power Level Modification is unlocked only when a high Power Score Weapon is equipped.

A Legendary Component or Ability will provide you with optimal Melee Damage, but a Legendary Weapon will provide optimal Ultimate Damage and Melee Damage.

Due to the sheer disparity in damage caused by the Power Scaling mechanic, it is better to wear literally any weapon as long as it’s your highest available of Power Score. Regardless of its Inscriptions. Ignorning your Higher Power Score weapon in favor of another that looks more powerful and offers better Inscriptions will reduce your overall damage output dramatically. Especially if your build relies heavily on Melee and Ultimate damage.

> The weapon and its Inscriptions no longer matter, it is just fundamentally more optimal to wear a total trash item that has a Power Score of 61 or 75, just because it can potentially double if not triple your overall Melee/Ultimate output due to the Arbitrary Modifier. Quite possibly making either of those vastly more powerful than any weapon or ability in your arsenal.

Part Four: Power Scaling makes Loot Counter-Intuitive

Epic loot is especially worthless as no matter what the Inscription offers, it’s Power Score is 38. You will perform vastly better by brainlessly slapping on anything for its Power Score alone. If you are trying to Min-Max, the only Inscriptions you need to care about is +% DMG, as that scales beautifully with the modifier. This means that you should only worry about wearing anything that is of Highest Power Score and equip as little as possible in the process.

>Example: Player A has 11 Equips (75*1)+(61*6)+(38*4)/11=Power Level 53 (Power Score of 593)

But remove everything Epic, including your Support results in:

>Example: Player B has 7 Equips (75*)+(61*6)/7=Power Level 63 (Power Score of 441)

This means Player B, despite having a vastly lower Power Score, retains a higher Power Level and can dish out more Damage.

Just the simple process of removing any Epic Item will keep your Power Level significantly higher, where passively removing the Equipment can be more beneficial than any Inscription could every provide. As it allows you to exploit a Multiplier, rather than restrict yourself merely to Additive Damage.

Conclusion

This is why my Epic Ranger Build in 1.0.2, which stacked upwards of 250% Additive Blast Inscriptions via Epic Universal Components, literally was doing no Damage when 1.0.3 dropped despite having technically a crazy amount of Blast. The build was almost entirely Epic Gear, which set my Power Level to 43. The entire build was based on dishing damage with the Ultimate, but as of 1.0.3 – Ultimates now Scale off a Arbitrary Number and Gear Placement, rendering days of work and refinement useless. And all of the gear I spent dozens of hours crafting and rolling on, utterly useless. No additive damage inscriptions can ever compete with a passive damage multiplier running behind the scenes.

This isn’t some sort of bug, this is a fundamental design flaw. At this point, the game is lying to you about how much damage you’re doing. This is why there is no Stat Sheet, as there isn’t anything worth recording. If you play the game thinking your Power Scores, Weapons, Abilities, Components, or the Inscriptions attached to them matter — then you’re doing yourself harm. Follow my advice. Realize that as of 1.0.3, none of it matters anymore and just become Melee & Ultimate spamming gods.

That’s quite a read, no? Thankfully, it didn’t go unnoticed by BioWare. Community Manager Jesse Anderson has confirmed that this will be fixed in Anthem’s next patch (1.0.4), and even explains how it’s being fixed.

Let’s hope that with the next patch this really is fixed since it’s making the loot irrelevant, which isn’t what you want to hear from a loot shooter, no?

In other Anthem news, BioWare has rolled out a server-side update today that improves the loot for Grandmaster 2 and GM3.

This The Division 2 Hidden Outfit Can Be Obtained via Secret Mission, Here’s How

Want to stand out from your squad in The Division 2? While the game has a ton of cosmetic items available for sale, or obtainable by doing missions, it seems there’s a The Division 2 hidden outfit that can be earned by doing a secret mission!

Over on The Division 2 subreddit, user riproarin999 has posted how to find this secret mission in order to obtain this The Division 2 hidden outfit!

There is a secret side mission south east of the Navy Hill control point. Go on the road around the corner up to a building near a shd tech. There will be a door way with lockers in it and a manhole. An npc is down there that starts a mission. The reward is called Retro Field Outfit and as an outfit it replaces all clothing and hides body armor pieces except backpack.

Check out the waypoint on the map where to find this secret mission:

Curious what this outfit looks like? I don’t blame you. Check it out below.

It’s not gaudy or anything but the chances of you running into someone with the same outfit is low — at least for now.

Once you’re done with this secret mission, it’s said that there’s another side mission that will show up as a teal sword icon on the map, though there’s nothing special to be earned by completing it.

Have you found other secret missions or hidden outfits in The Division 2? If so, don’t forget to let us know! Email us at tips@mp1st.com!

Anthem Loot Improvements for GM2 & GM3 Rolled Out via Server Update

With the community up in arms over Anthem’s loot drops, it seems BioWare has no choice but to listen. Today, the studio has announced that it has rolled out a server-side update to Anthem, which will help improve loot drops for those tackling the endgame.

According to BioWare, the Anthem loot improvements will take effect immediately! Here’s the list of changes (via Reddit):

These changes include:

  • Masterwork & Legendary drop rates have been increased for Grandmaster 2 and Grandmaster 3 difficulty levels.
  • Masterwork & Legendary drop rates have been increased for harder enemies at all difficulty levels. This includes: Legendary Titan, Epic Titan, Legendary Fury, Legendary Acid Ursix and Legendary Luminary Elder.

Note that these changes will take effect in all activities, which includes Strongholds in Grandmaster 2 and Grandmaster 3. For those looking forward to actual percentages when it comes to loot improvements, sadly, there’s none yet.

PlayStation Store Sale Today Now Live & Is “The Great Indoors Sale”

Update: List is now final and available below.

While Sony hosted an EA publisher sale on the PlayStation Store earlier this week, it seems we’re getting another PlayStation Store sale today, though it doesn’t seem to be a flash sale as we’re accustomed to getting on Fridays.

Called “The Great Indoors Sale,” it not only features what it calls “Budget Friendly” deals on games, but there’s also a 25 percent off for a 12-month membership for PS Plus happening as well.

(Note: the store is currently updating, and we’ll have the entire list of discounted games and their links below. We’ll be updating this post until all the deals are finalized).

These are the early games listed though they aren’t discounted yet. We’ll be updating the post as the sale happens.

The Division 2 Hidden Boss: How to Trigger the Mission, and the Reward

While The Division 2 just came out, it seems the game has all sorts of secrets hidden within that are slowly being unraveled by the community. One such secret? A The Division 2 hidden boss! Wait, scratch that, a The Division 2 hidden Hunter boss!

Outlined by Reddit user Naitrax, here’s where to find him, exact location on the map, and what specific item reward he drops when killed!

There is a hidden hunter boss (level 35) you can summon in the water in West Potomac Park, right near the Lincoln Memorial mission. With further testing, it seems you need to activate the map near the SHD Cache above the mission area prior to shooting the light. Head due east from the mission, until you reach the small building with a hanging lightbulb. If you shoot this at night, it will spawn a hunter boss (level 35) on the spot, he does not despawn between respawns. Am only level 23 so I cannot beat him to see what he drops.

If you’re wondering how I found this, there is a map with an “X Marks the Spot” near s SHD Tech cache north of the mission, which had that location marked on the map with a crescent moon. I visited that spot at night and sure enough, when you shoot the light the hunter spawns!

The Division 2 hidden boss map location:

“X” marks the spot:

As for what specific item he drops, check out this familiar looking hockey mask!

Not bad, no? If you know of any other hidden boss in The Division 2, don’t hesitate to contact us (tips@mp1st.com) and we’ll be sure to credit you for the find!

For more The Division 2 secrets, go check out this keychain location guide to make your backpack stand out!

Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive have just released an official developer diary video for World War Z, the highly anticipated co-op shooter inspired by Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster film. This behind-the-scenes dive into the game explores how the movie’s iconic images of zombies swarming en masse over anything in their path inspired the team to capture that terror in a thrilling action experience. We took this inspiration and created totally new characters and storylines true to the universe, building something familiar with a brand new twist.

Powered by Saber’s dynamic Swarm Engine™, World War Z unleashes hundreds of fast-moving, bloodthirsty zombies – able to move as one collective horde as well as break off as individuals units – at a time on players. Choose from six distinct classes and an arsenal of deadly weapons, explosives, turrets and traps. Outlive the dead through intense four-player co-op campaign missions around the world, and battle both zombies and real human opponents in competitive, team-based Players vs. Players vs. Zombies (PvPvZ) multiplayer.

As you can see in the video, there are literally hundreds of zombies attacking the players all at once, which will instill panic regardless if you’re playing solo or with a full squad.

Set to munch on gamers this April 16 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, you can check out the game’s different classes here.

Turtle Beach to Acquire PC Gaming Accessory Maker ROCCAT

In a press release, Turtle Beach has announced that it’ll acquire PC gaming accessory maker ROCCAT. For those not familiar with ROCCAT, it’s a big German PC peripheral maker that produces gaming keyboards, gaming mice, and more.

Turtle Beach is acquiring ROCCAT for $14.8 million in cash, “net of a working capital adjustment, $1 million in cash or stock (company option), plus up to approximately $3.4 million in earnout payments.” Following the completion of the acquisition, which is expected to happen in the second quarter, Turtle Beach’s 2019 net revenue is expected to be at $20-$24 million. Turtle Beach is expecting revenue from ROCCAT products to be at over $30 million in 2020.

This expected Turtle Beach acquisition will significantly accelerate Turtle Beach’s planned expansion into $2.9 billion market for PC gaming headsets, mice, keyboards, and more.

Juergen Stark, CEO of Turtle Beach had this to say:

This is a dynamic and strategically important deal for Turtle Beach. We are adding a complementary portfolio of PC gaming mice and keyboards, a skilled PC accessories team, and a highly synergistic distribution footprint.

The acquisition is also a key step in achieving our goal of building a $100 million PC gaming accessories business in the coming years. ROCCAT accelerates our expansion into the roughly $1.6 billion3 PC gaming headset market, as well as directly enables us to address the roughly $1.3 billion4 PC gaming keyboard and mice market. We believe our combined product portfolio is one of the strongest in the industry, covering gaming headsets for consoles and PC’s, gaming keyboards and mice. Together we will have 48 core product models to pursue the total addressable market of over $4.7 billion in North America, Europe and Asia.

We are thrilled to welcome René Korte and the ROCCAT team to the Turtle Beach family, as they are a highly talented group with deep experience in PC accessories and have a similar focus on providing high quality, innovative products to gamers worldwide.

Congrats, Turtle Beach!
