Destiny 2 Player Count Drops More Than 2 Million Since Launch

There’s no denying that Destiny 2 is a commercial success for both Activision and Bungie. However, it seems the game might not be quite living up to the expectations of Destiny 1. Since launch, the Destiny 2 player count has dropped by over two million according to Destiny Tracker.

At launch, Destiny 2 peaked at around 3.5 million players, with over 1.2 million playing at the same time at one point. However, checking Destiny Tracker, you can see the massive dive the game has gotten the past few days. Check the graph below.

Important to note that we don’t know how accurate the Destiny Tracker site is given it’s not an official tool of Activision or Bungie. The graph shows that at launch, Destiny 2 reached 3.5 million players on September 16 (average of PvP and PvE), and has steadily been dropping ever since. Over the past few days, it has since dropped to as low as 1.5 million on October 19 — a full two million drop in less than a month.

Does this mean Destiny 2 is fading? We can’t say for sure, but there is a glimmer of hope though, Destiny 2 will be launching on PC for the first time next week, which should see a significant uptick in terms of both sales, and people playing Bungie’s multi-million dollar shared-world shooter.

For more on Destiny 2, check out the latest game update rolled out by Bungie earlier today.  There’s also a change on this week’s Nightfall Strike based on player feedback,  and finally, the Leviathan Prestige Raid has been finished by a team using an exploit

Do you think Destiny 2 is in trouble or is it just a case of players taking a break before diving back in once the first expansion drops?

Fortnite Asia and Brazil Servers Now Up, Medium Ammo Hotfix Rolled Out

While Fortnite has millions of players worldwide, it’s logical to assume that not everyone of them lives in the US, which means, for some people, they experience ping spikes, lag and more. Thankfully, Epic Games knows about this as the company has now deployed Fortnite Asia servers and Fortnite Brazil servers!

This was announced over on the official Epic Games website where it was also mentioned that these new servers are available for both the PlayStation 4 and PC. There is one slight niggle for now though, the duos playlist will be disabled at first, bit will be re enabled once Epic irons out the kinks.

Check out the instructions below how to choose which servers you connect to as well.

In our effort to provide a better player experience new servers have just launched for Brazil and Asia. We are excited to take one more step forward in strengthening our global community and providing a better experience for all players around the globe, one region at a time!

Get ready to drop into the arena solo or with a squad. The duos playlist will be disabled at first, but will be re-enabled once we are confident we can provide a great experience for all players.

Both Brazil and Asia servers will support PS4 and PC at launch.

Players will automatically connect to the regions with the lowest ping, but you can still manually select a server region. Please follow the steps below if you would like to change your matchmaking region.

  • Navigate to the Main Menu in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Select Settings.
  • Select the Game tab.
  • Change your matchmaking region using the left and right arrow indicators and select your desired region.

Additionally, “medium ammo” has been reduced from 20 to 10 in Battle Royale as well. This was decided by the dev team after the 1.7.2 update that rolled out yesterday. It seems it’ll be a hotfix, so no download is needed. The ammo reduction was made due to players tearing down structures and “apply a seemingly endless amount of pressure with their assault rifles.”

Epic has certainly been busy with Fortnite, which is fantastic for a free-to-play game. Once more tweaks and additions to the game are made, we’ll be sure to let fans know ASAP.

Terminus Enters the Realm of Paladins With OB 61 Patch

2017 has been quite an eventful year for the free-to-play hero shooter, Paladins; from introducing numerous new features such as the VIP Program, new ways to earn skins  and of course numerous new champions being added to the realm.

With the release of OB 61 patch that’s now live on the PC, we can yet add another champion to the long list of characters released this year for Paladins. Introducing Terminus, “The Fallen” is the latest champion to become available for the free-to-play title.

Check out his reveal trailer above.

This hulking brute, who most will consider the game’s first true melee character has some very interesting abilities. Ranging from soaking up projectiles to give himself a buff to being able to revive himself followed by a rather large explosion that’s able to kill any non front liner champion.

If any of that peaked your interest to the latest front line champion, you can catch the rest of his abilities and description of his legendary card below:

 Abilities

  • Massacre Axe:
    • Swing your axe in a large arc every 1.1s. Enemies hit will take 700 damage.

  • Shatterfall:

  • Reanimation:
    • Return to life after 2.5s in a large explosion of necromantic energy that deals 4000 damage to affected enemies. (Ultimate ability)

Man Arrested After Stealing Call of Duty: WWII Copies From Sony Factory

Dshaye Towles really wanted to get his hands on Call of Duty: WWII, going as far as to steal copies from a Sony factory where stock was being held.

According to WTHITV, Dshaye Towles is from Terre Haute, Indiana. He has been charged with theft and “offense against intellectual property.” He was caught during a traffic stop, where it was discovered that he had been selling early copies of the game for just $45 on eBay.

The man is also guilty of selling stolen copies of Madden 18. That’s quite the score streak he was on!

Despite his arrest and the evidence gathered, neither Sony nor the local police have been able to work out how Towles managed to get his hands on the stolen discs.

Call of Duty: WWII is having a rough time keeping content hidden before the November 3 release, and now we have an idea of where some of the leaks may have come from.

In other Call of Duty: WWII news, check out the new Prestige system being used by Sledgehammer Games in our video feature, and there’s also a new gun customization coming to COD: WWII and that’s “sweetheart grips.”

Report: Call of Duty: WWII Modes Revealed, “Gridiron” Brings Uplink to World War II

Would you believe it, there’s been more Call of Duty: WWII leaks?! Pretty much nothing is a secret when it comes to this title, and now we know each and every game mode that will be available at launch.

The leak comes from Twitter user “@Touridion”, who posted a screenshot of the full list of game types:

Most of the modes are pretty standard, with the exception of “Gridiron.” Here’s what you’ll be playing:

  • Team Deathmatch
  • War
  • Domination
  • Search and Destroy
  • Kill Confirmed
  • Hardpoint
  • Free-for-all
  • Capture the Flag
  • Gridiron
  • Hardcore and Ground War variations

If you’re curious as to what the Gridiron mode is, well it’s similar to the “Uplink” mode we saw in the futuristic titles, and tasks teams with “throw[ing] or carry[ing] the ball into the enemy goal.”

Happy to hear about the return of Uplink? I’ve had great fun playing the mode in the past, and I’m excited to see how it plays with the boots-on-ground gameplay.

Call of Duty: WWII is launching on November 3 across PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

In other Call of Duty: WWII news, check out the new Prestige system being used by Sledgehammer Games in our video feature, and there’s also a new gun customization coming to COD: WWII and that’s “sweetheart grips.”

Gran Turismo Sport Servers Are Down, and It’s Not Just You (Update #2)

Update #2:

Everything seems to be back up and running. Race away, people!

Update:

The official Gran Tuirismo website has acknowledged the downtime and has issued a “service interruption” notice.

Service Interruption Notice

10/19/2017

The Gran Turismo Sport is currently experiencing an interruption in the following online features:

Content:
 - Daily Races
 - Open Lobby
 - Discover
 - Social Features
 - Social Features (Notices)
 - Social Features (News Feed)
 - Social Features (Profile)
 - Social Features (Friends)
 - Social Features (Photo)
 - Social Features (Livery)
 - Social Features (Daily Races)
 - Social Features (Campaign Mode)
 - Online Saves

We are currently working to fix this issue. We thank you for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.

Once things are back to normal, we’ll update the post again.

Original Story:

If you bought Gran Turismo Sport and you’re trying to play it right this moment, you might be greeted with the screenshot you see above. At first, I thought it was just my internet connection, but after numerous attempts, I gave up and checked online.

Over on the NeoGAF Gran Turismo Sport thread, multiple players are saying the same thing: they cannot connect online with the Gran Turismo Sport servers. Given how only Arcade mode is playable offline, this makes the game extremely limited when it comes to features and variety on what you can do. Unfortunately, there’s no word on the official Gran Turismo Twitter on what’s happening.

So if you can’t connect online, don’t worry, it’s not your game, it’s not your ‘net connection, but it’s the GT Sport servers acting up. Maybe it’s due to the deluge of players all trying to play it at the same time? Given how over one million people played the limited time demo, I wouldn’t be shocked if this was the case.

While we’re waiting for the servers to go back up, check out the full GT Sport Trophy list, or read up on why there’s no “GT Mode” in GT Sport.

Once servers are back up, we’ll post an update.

This week’s Destiny 2 Nightfall Strike has been changed in order to “mitigate issues encountered by players.” It seems that the Exodus Crash bug that appeared in the last Nightfall, still hasn’t been fixed.

The change was announced on the Bungie Help Twitter page:

Here’s what the strike and modifiers were before the change:

Modifiers

Prism – Your attacks matching the focused element deal increased damage. All other elemental damage is reduced. Kinetic and incoming damage is unaffected. The focused element rotates periodically.

And here’s what the new challenge is comprised of:

Strike

Pyramidion

Modifiers

Torrent

Timewarp: Zeo Hour

Are you happy to see the change? Or is this Nightfall Strike even tougher? Let us know.

Star Wars Battlefront II Single-Player Preview – Top 5 Reasons Why It’s a Must-Play

After heading down to an event in London, where I got to play through the Star Wars Battlefront II single-player prologue and first two chapters, I feel I’ve got a good understanding of what the developers are aiming for with this experience, and overall, I’m pretty damn happy with what I saw.

To give you my impressions in an easy-to-digest way, let’s go with a Top 5 structure. These are the top five reasons why Star Wars Battlefront II’s single-player is a must-play.

5 – Comprehensive Menu Settings

I know this is a very boring one to kick things off with, but I’ve got to give credit where it’s due. So many games allow you to extensively customize the multiplayer experience, while leaving the single-player locked into a very specific state.

As soon as I loaded up Battlefront II’s campaign, I dived into the menus. I changed the default view to third-person, and cranked up the FOV. And this is on a PlayStation 4 Pro! Imagine, a console with these settings in both single-player and multiplayer!

I could gush about the other options, but let’s move on!

4 – How Iden Measures Up

As the main character of such an important story, Iden Versio needs to be liked and embraced by fans. Star Wars heroes are a key part of the experience, and Iden needs to match up to some serious competition. The Force Awakens’ cast succeeded in winning our hearts, and from what I’ve seen from Iden, who is a very capable Imperial Commander stuck in the middle of some shady business, I think she’ll do well.

3 – Combat & Customization

Of course, it helps that Iden is a complete badass and very fun to play as. Star Cards that you earn in-game (and only in-game) help to shape her as a soldier. Combine these with the ability to swap out weapons and customize loadouts, and Iden becomes a very versatile character.

2 – Space Battles

Yep, I know it’s single-player space battles and you’re fighting bots, but my word, the presentation and gameplay just comes together to make for the definitive Star Wars space battle experience.

Even on PS4 Pro, it looked and sounded incredible. Of course, that’s nothing new, as 2015’s Battlefront reboot still holds up nicely, but now the gameplay has been revamped to match. Fighting in space was my highlight of the entire event.

1 – Filling in the Gap

Battlefront II has a huge responsibility: It must tell us what happened between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The fact that this game follows and contributes to the movie canon is going to be reason enough for many fans to pick it up.

Thankfully, from what I’ve played, it’s holding up rather well. There’s even some subtle hints and references of past films and what else is happening in the universe. You can tell this was made by some hardcore Star Wars fans, backed up by the approval of LucasArts.

And so those are my five reasons why Battlefront II’s single-player campaign is a must-play. I’m actually more hyped for Iden’s story than I am for the multiplayer component.

Are you looking forward to Battlefront II? Will you be giving the campaign a go? Let me know in the comments below.

Star Wars Battlefront II Single-Player Trailer Makes Iden Versio a Hero, Watch It Now!

It’s no secret that in Star Wars, the Imperial army are considered the bad guys, while the Resistance are the do-gooders, right? Well, you wouldn’t know that if you watched the latest Star Wars Battlefront II single-player trailer. DICE has released a new video where we see game’s central character Iden Versio, fighting for what she thinks is right.

I’m not sure what twists and turns the story will take, but based on the trailer, Iden does think she’s on the good side, which is what every faction thinks of itself, no? It’s definitely a welcome departure from playing the Rebels and should give the campaign a much-needed uniqueness to it.

Ignite the inferno and burn the Rebellion to the ground in Star Wars Battlefront 2’s single-player campaign. Take on the role of Commander Iden Versio in a story following the destruction of the Death Star II and the death of the Emperor.

For more on Battlefront II’s single-player, we have a video feature coming later today that details some of the features players will want to know about it.

Speaking of video features, check out this top five feature where we list down the most important improvements we want to see at launch based on the beta.

Nintendo Switch System Update 4.0.0 Available Now, Adds Video Capture and More

Nintendo Switch owners, there’s a new firmware update out for the console and it brings in a host of new features, and quality of life improvements. Possibly the most important addition Nintendo Switch system update 4.0.0, is the inclusion of video capture, which lets players record their awesome gaming moments.

Check out the complete Nintendo Switch system update 4.0.0 patch notes:

Improvements Included in Version 4.0.0 (Distributed 10/18/2017)

Added the following system functionality

  • Capture video on select games
    • To capture video, hold down the Capture Button during gameplay
    • Up to a maximum of the previous 30 seconds will be saved in the Album. You can trim the beginning and end of each clip, and post to Facebook and Twitter.
    • As of October 18th, 2017, this feature is compatible with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2
  • Select from 12 new Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild icons for your user
    • To edit your user icon, head to your My Page on the top left of the Home Menu > Profile
  • Transfer user and save data to another system
  • Pre-purchase option on Nintendo eShop
    • A pre-purchase option will be available for certain games. This option allows pre-load of the game to your system for quicker play when the game is released.
    • This feature will be supported by future game releases
  • News channel updates
    • The news feed has been updated with a new look.
    • Unfollowing a channel will remove that channel’s content from the news feed and following the channel again will make it reappear.
  • Match software version with a group of local users
    • To create a group, head to the software’s Options > Software Update > Match Version with Local Users
    • Everyone’s software will be updated to match the most recent version in the group
    • All users must be on system menu version 4.0.0 or later to view and join a group

General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience, including:

  • Changed the specification which hid wireless networks using TKIP security from the network search results. Wireless networks using TKIP security will now display in search results as a grayed-out selection instead of not being displayed
    • The Nintendo Switch console supports WEP, WPA-PSK(AES), and WPA2-PSK(AES). If your router is using a different security type (e.g. WPA-PSK(TKIP)), you will need to change this security type within your router’s settings.

Hopefully, this is just the start of new online features being implemented on the Switch. While I don’t see it competing with the online community and features of the Xbox One and PS4, Nintendo should at least make it serviceable enough that it’s considered for some multi-platform games.

What features should Nintendo add in the next system update?

Destiny 2 Prestige Raid Winners Congratulated by Bungie, Despite Use of Exploit

It was an intense race to first place for those trying to complete the new Destiny 2 Prestige Raid. First and second place winners were separated by a margin of just four minutes!

Clan Redeem was first to take down the souped-up Callus and his army of minions.

Bungie confirmed and congratulated the winners on Twitter:

Where things get a little messy, is when we hear one of the players mention that they are using a glitch. “Coil glitching” instantly replenishes a power weapon’s ammo, and so can be used to get an advantage.

Prior to the Prestige Raid launch, Bungie stated that it would be monitoring those who complete it to make sure it’s done legitimately.

If the player hadn’t mentioned using it, it probably would have gone unnoticed. But he did, and now the community is in an uproar.

In response to these complaints, Bungie will be releasing the Top 3 finishers, allowing players to “make [our] own decision as to who should be celebrated.

“We have seen the reports that an ammo exploit was used today in the Prestige Raid. This was not the specific exploit we were checking for and we don’t currently have the ability to detect it. Tomorrow we will release the top 3 finishers in the TWAB. You can make your own decision as to who should be celebrated.”

Call of Duty: WWII Will Have a Dead Silence or Similar Perk That Can Be Used for Competitive

While we already listed down the leaked Call of Duty: WWII Basic Training list gathered from the PC beta files (which might be inaccurate according to Sledgehammer Games), there doesn’t seem to be a mention of the perk “Dead Silence.”

Those not familiar with the perk, it allows players to run, jump and do other actions without making a sound. It’s the favorite perk for “sound whoring” (when used in conjunction with the “Awareness” perk) since using a good set of headphones to know if an enemy is near your vicinity is made easier with it. Good news, Dead Silence fans! Sledgehammer Games’ Michael Condrey has (kind of) confirmed that Dead Silence or a variation of it will indeed be available in the game!

This was confirmed by Condrey over on Twitter when asked by a fan if there will be a Dead Silence Basic Training that can be used for the competitive scene.

Scanning the list of leaked Basic Training list, Dead Silence’s new name in COD: WWII might every well be “Inconspicuous” or “Undercover.”

Is this a good move by Sledgehammer or a bad one? I guess it depends on your play style.

For more on COD: WWII, check out the new Prestige system being used by Sledgehammer Games in our video feature, and there’s also a new gun customization coming to COD: WWII and that’s “sweetheart grips.”

Rainbow Six Siege Ping Abuse Explained by Devs, and the Steps to Fix It

For Rainbow Six Siege players, having a stable connection all throughout the match is much more important than in any other shooter given the fast time-to-kill, and no respawn element of the game. However, like it or not, there is a problem with the game regarding Rainbow Six Siege ping abuse, and the devs know about it.

Over on the official Rainbow Six website, Ubisoft has made a lengthy explanation of ping abuse, “peeker’s advantage” and the steps they’re making to fix it.

HIGH PING AND PEEKER’S ADVANTAGE

Replication is the process by which we mirror a sequence of movements and actions done by a player on a remote computer, such as a game server. You can think of replication as “ghosts” that follow players. This “ghost” represents your position as seen by the server. For example, if you have a ping of 200ms, your “ghost” is where you were 100ms ago (since ping represents round trip duration). The higher a player’s ping, the further behind the player their “ghost” is.

However, when peeking (moving out of cover), a higher ping will not give you more time to react and shoot before becoming visible to other players. This is because all shots need to be validated by the server, so any increased amount of time will also apply to your shots reaching the server.

Peeker’s advantage is a result of the aforementioned “ghosting” effect. We cannot remove “ghosting”: doing so would require all movements to be validated by the server before taking effect on your client. This would result in increased input delay (equal to your ping), which is contrary to the design philosophy of making movement as reactive as possible. However, unlike the common perception, peeker’s advantage depends only on the speed of the victim’s connection, not the peeker’s.

The maximum time, once the peeker becomes visible, that the victim has in order to shoot and come out on top is what we define as the window of opportunity. Peeker’s advantage is caused by the fact that this window of opportunity is always shorter than the reaction time of the peeker.

Window of opportunity = Reaction time of the peeker – Ping of the victim (including processing time)

Starting with Year 2 Season 3, Ubisoft will be implementing adjustments and changes to how the Rainbow Six Siege manages latency, hit validation and more. The studio’s plan is continue working on these issues during the upcoming seasons.

For a more technical and detailed report, check out the complete breakdown here.

Gran Turismo Sport GT Mode Absence Due to Gamers’ Lack of Tuning Know-How

Old-school racing fans might fondly remember the Gran Turismo franchise’s “GT Mode” in previous games where players bought a second-hand car in the game, and used it to gain money to buy car parts, car mods, tuning it and more. Unfortunately, Gran Turismo Sport GT Mode isn’t happening.

If you’re wondering why, there’s a few reasons for this according to Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi. One of the explanations is that it’s technically still in, but scattered out in much easier to digest chunks.

In a narrow sense, the part that was the GT Mode in the past is now called Mission Challenge. It’s single player, there are various different types of races, from the very short to the very long, with different regulations, and you can tune up the cars that you purchased to participate in those races.

When people are talking about there’s no campaign mode, or no GT Mode anymore, that’s not quite true. It’s just a change to the UI (user interface). All the things that you were able to do in the past in those modes are in the game.

The vehicle tuning portion, which the franchise is known for, has been “simplified” due to how most gamers’ limited knowledge of cars.

Twenty years ago, when we did the first Gran Turismo, people knew what happens when you change an air filter; people knew what increased compression ratios do to your car. But the new users don’t have that knowledge anymore because they’re not as interested in the cars, so we’ve simplified that area [of the game] so you can do the exact same thing you were doing in the past, but it’s more user-friendly for people just getting into cars.

Well, that’s that. While Yamauchi might have a point. gamers these days could very just use Google or YouTube to learn how to do it, no?

For racing fans, is this a big omission or did Yamauchi has a point?

PSN Down in Some Areas of the US, Canada and UK (Update)

Update:

Seems to be fixed! Carry on, PlayStation gamers!

Original Story:

It seems Sony’s PlayStation Network is once again experiencing a hiccup as some users have reported that PSN down time is happening to them. Over on NeoGAF, a new thread has cropped up about PSN being down.

Multiple users on Reddit are also saying the same, and have reported that PSN is down in the US, UK and in Canada. Checking the official PlayStation Network status page, it says “all services are up and running,” which isn’t a surprise, given how it’s usually not up to date when it comes to PSN outages. The official AskPlaySation Twitter account has not posted an update.

It’s not known whether this is an isolated incident regarding internet service providers, or only happening in specific regions, etc. If PSN is down for you, please let us know where you are in the comments below.

We’ll post an update once everything’s back to 100 percent again.

In the meantime, go check out this week’s PS Store sales for US and EU to know what you can buy once the service is back up.
