PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ Success Continues, Over 7 Million Copies Sold & 600,000 Concurrent Users Reached

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continues to be a humongous success, with more and more PC players rushing to buy the game on Steam. Sales have now surpassed the 7 million mark, and the new peak concurrent player count has topped 600,000. These are insane milestones to achieve, especially when you consider that the game is still in “early access,” and is priced at a rather steep $29.99.

Clearly, the early access status and price tag aren’t big enough concerns for millions of gamers out there. Even with the controversial microtransactions being added to the game, players keep on coming.

The PUBG phenomenon has taken over Steam, Twitch, and soon consoles will have to deal with hordes of players hungry for a chicken dinner.

Are you one of the 7 million people who have bought PUBG on PC? Or are you waiting for the console release, and eager to see what all the fuss is about?

Be sure to check out these insane in-game statistics of what players have achieved in PUBG so far. Oh, and read up on the planned Erangel map changes.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Vault Animation Looks Super Useful in Gameplay Video

We’re coming that much closer to seeing a vaulting mechanic added to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Those infuriating moments where you try and jump over a wall, only to fail and walk the long way around instead, will soon be a thing of the past.

First revealed during the PC Gaming Show at this year’s E3, the ability to vault, climb, and dive has been greatly anticipated by PUBG fans. Developer “tooner” has shared new footage of the mechanics in action, and they’re looking great!

Vaulting WIP with placeholder animations. Vault speed depends on character velocity, added ability to cancel before apex, added forcing vault over climb (if possible), improved geometry detection.

The animations are already looking pretty smooth, with the vault speed kept pretty high, too. I can definitely see these movements being used effectively in-game, and really think they will spice up combat and lessen some of the frustration.

What do you think of the new PUBG animations? Have the developers got their priorities in order?

What are your thoughts on Skull and Bones? Did this video help or hinder your excitement for the title? And ultimately, is it something you’d play? Let us know!

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Blood Orchid DLC Leak, New Operators & Abilities Revealed

Three operators will be added to Rainbow Six Siege starting August 29. Up until this point, most of the details surrounding the new characters were a secret, with Ubisoft hoping to reveal everything during the Rainbow Six Pro League Finals.

Unfortunately for Ubisoft, images and details on all three of the upcoming operators have leaked on Reddit. Everything you need to know is showcased just below.

ELA – DEF – GRZMOT MINE – Concussion proximity mines that can be anchored on surfaces, impairing hearing and causing a dizzying effect.

YING – ATK – CANDELA – Cluster of flash charges that can either be anchored on surfaces or rolled out as a grenade.

LESION – DEF – GU – Cloaked toxic mines injecting a compound which injures opponents and limits their speed.

So there you have it, cheeky early access to knowing who all three new characters are and what they do. We’ll likely be able to see them in action during the Pro League Finals, so stay tuned for that.

What do you make of the new operators? Got a favorite that you want to try out?

New Feature: Ranked 2.0

Paladins Competitive has been built up from the BETA ranked test system into a tiered system in which players clash to climb the ranks from Bronze to Grandmaster and earn Ranked-exclusive rewards.

There are 7 Tiers in Ranked 2.0

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Master
  • Grandmaster

Bronze through Diamond each have 5 Divisions within their Tiers. Playing Competitive now earns you Triumph Points (TP). Earning enough TP will promote you from your current division. Master is the highest division that can be reached this way and from there, the 100 players with the most TP are placed into the Grandmaster Division.

Entering Ranked

Before playing Ranked games a player must be level 15 and own at least 12 characters. There are no mastery level requirements for those characters.

New Players will have to play 15 qualifying games before they are placed within a division. Their placement will be based on performance in their qualifying games.

Partying

If you are placed in Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum you may now form up to a five-man party to play competitive games but only if all partied members are also in Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum.

Players in Diamond, Master, and Grandmaster may only duo-queue into Competitive games. Diamond players may duo-queue with players in Platinum, Diamond, Masters, or Grandmaster. Master and Grandmaster players may only duo queue with players in Diamond, Master, or Grandmaster.

Qualifying players may duo-queue with each other or players in Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum to other enter their Qualifiers.

Ranked Progression

Winning Competitive games now earns you TP. If you reach 100 TP you are promoted to a higher division and your TP is set back to 0. Excess points carry over into your new division. Exceptional performance may allow you to skip forward a few divisions when promoted.

Losing Competitive games will lower your TP. If you lose a Competitive game when at 0 TP you will be demoted to a lower division. You can not be demoted this way until you play at least 5 games within your division. Players are set to 70TP when demoted.

Rewards

To give players more of a incentive to play Ranked, Hi-Rez is also rewarding players with in-game items such as skins, titles, exclusive weapons and more:

  • Qualify for Ranked to receive a loading frame that displays your highest reached division in the current split.
  • Qualify for Ranked to receive a Champion Skin Chest Roll.
  • Play 25 Competitive games to receive a Weapon Chest Roll.
  • Reach the Gold 5 Division to receive the Epic Drogoz Skin Set: Terrormorph.
  • Win 100 Competitive games to receive the Epic Drogoz Weapon: Terrormorph’s Maw.
  • Win 200 Competitive games to receive the “Forged in Battle” title.
  • End the Season placed in Grandmaster or in the top 3 spots of any Champion Leaderboard to receive Crystals as a reward.

Skins

Aside from the inclusion of the new Ranked 2.0 system to Paladins, the OB 56 patch is set to also include some new skins to the game which include some Samurai-eqsue skins and more Mastery skins:

  • Ash – Ronin
  • Bomb King –  Obsidian And Cosmic Mastery sets
  • Drogoz –  Terrormorph (Ranked Reward)
  • Fernando – Obsidian and Cosmic Master sets
  • Kinessa – Atomic
  • Skye – Kunoichi

In addition to new skin sets being made available, a new loot chest will also be introduced to the game which will include bone themed weapons for Lex, Seris and Zhin.

For those playing Paladins on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms, are you looking forward to the new changes in ranked?

EVE: Valkyrie Will No Longer Require VR, New Ships and Game Mode Coming Soon

Up until now, EVE: Valkyrie has only been available to play on Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, and HTC Vive. It’s been an experience exclusive to early virtual reality headset adopters. Happily, for those without VR, the game will soon no longer require a headset.

Dropping on September 26, 2017, EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone will enable “PC and PlayStation 4 gamers to fly and fight alongside each other, both in and out of VR, in fully balanced online space combat.”

New players will be able to purchase EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone for $29.99, while those who already own EVE: Valkyrie will receive the expansion as a free download.

Along with the newly-implemented “non-VR compatibility,” the Warzone expansion will add more crafts to fly and a new game mode.

EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone introduces a next-generation fleet of iconic ships – including the new Covert class ship, “Shadow” – each one with their own distinctive role to play in battle. With new weapons – including powerful Ultra abilities – and a fully redesigned progression system for each ship, players will have more control over how they evolve their arsenal to suit their playstyle.

New to EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone will be the ‘Extraction’ game mode that puts capture-the-flag in outer space for an exhilarating gameplay experience. The Warzone expansion also features two new maps, “Fleet” and “Outpost,” as well as new Wormholes that introduce a fresh challenge each week. Players will also be able to fight for Spoils of War to earn Loot Capsules, enabling them to unlock a hangar-full of personalization options for their ships and pilot.

The original EVE: Valkyrie launched back in March 2016. A little over a year later the game is finally being opened up for non-VR owners. Are you excited for the release?

This Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Montage by eX1ar Reminds Us How Badass Snipers Were

As part of Pixel Enemy’s community submissions, and seeing as MP1st is a site about multiplayer, we’ve decided to feature some of our noteworthy content submissions.

For today, YouTuber eX1ar  (you can subscribe to his YouTube channel here) gives us a blast from the past. He’s sent over a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 montage which he calls “Fragshow” that has him mowing down enemies using sniper rifles and quickscoping. I admit, I hate when I get quickscoped in first-person shooter games (partly because I can’t do it myself) but it’s even more annoying when it happens in Battlefield since, well, it’s supposed to be more realistic, right?

Of course, a sniping montage can’t be complete without taking down a chopper and eX1ar does just that.

Want to submit to Pixel Enemy? Check out how right here.

Rabbid Luigi Has Gotten His Own Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Gameplay Trailer

Rabbid Luigi has been revealed for the upcoming pinch-yourself-yes-this-is-real-life tactical game, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Luigi’s rabbid counterpart has gotten his own gameplay trailer, showcasing his unique abilities. You can watch the full video below.

Rabbid Luigi is the most ingenuous of the Rabbid heroes. Easily scared, he would always avoid conflict given the choice. Despite this, he has very strong powers, even if he doesn’t really understand how to use them! He might not even seem very menacing at first, but his great defensive and elemental skills make him the wizard every team needs.

Who’s the better character, Rabbid Mario or Rabbid Luigi? You’ll have to battle it out in the comments, at least until Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle releases on August 29 for Nintendo Switch.

H1Z1 to Change Name, Update Adds New Map, and Lots More

In a press release, Daybreak Games has announced that H1Z1 will now be known simply as “Just Survive” to further separate itself from the H1Z1 universe. This rebranding is said to represent the studio’s “evolved vision” for the game, and lay out the foundation for future updates to come.

Speaking of updates, Daybreak Games has rolled out a big H1Z1 Just Survive update that introduces new features like Strongholds, and more. The full patch notes can be seen below and as one can expect, it’s full of gameplay tweaks and more.

  • Players can now purchase basic items and tools for Golden Eagle Coins in the military base near Corporal Moran.
  • Added Strongholds to the game.
  • Stronghold plots can be purchased with Golden Eagle Coins at their location. Modular base components can be crafted and built on a purchased Stronghold plot.
  • Strongholds can be raided by other players, triggering a Stronghold raid. At the end of the raid, the defending base will rebuild and be shielded for 1 hour, protecting it from further raids as well as NPCs.

  • Stronghold utilities (storage, barbecues, workbenches, etc) and traps can be picked up by pressing and holding E.

Bandai Namco Reveals New Game “#Projekt1514”, Offers Some Cryptic Information

Bandai Namco has dropped a teaser trailer for their “mysterious” new game, “#Project1514“. This hashtag-toting, Twitter-friendly title is given 30 seconds to make an impression in the video below.

Included are a few shots of dilapidated buildings and post-apocalyptic landscapes. The trailer’s text states that this is “a new project” (a new IP then, right?) and that it’s being developed by Dimps (Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Street Fighter V).

Included alongside the trailer is a short cryptic description:

We release today a teaser trailer devoted to our new mysterious title #Projekt1514. Military battlefield, bullets, shots and dark atmospheres are key elements of this trailer. Which world is this? What they are fighting for?

And that’s all we’re getting for now! Perhaps we’ll receive more information from Bandai Namco during gamescom or Paris Games Week.

What do you make of the #Projekt1514 teaser trailer? Got any idea what the game could be about?

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Beats League of Legends for Most Watched Game on Twitch

Unless you’re some kind of modern age Nostradamus or you have a time machine, there’s absolutely no way anyone could have predicted how big of a success Bluehole’s PlayerUknown’s Battlegrounds would be. Just how big is it? It just unseated Riot Games’ League of Legends as the most watch game on Twitch!

Bear in mind, this feat has never happened before for a game not having a tournament, championship match or any of the sort. Not one game challenged League of Legends as the most watched game on Twitch in all these years, and PUBG came out of nowhere to beat it. Just last week, 16.9 million hours of PUBG was seen by people. Of course, Dota 2 managed to hit 30 million hours of Twitch time but given it was during The International tournament, that’s to be expected. League of Legends came in at third with just over 15 million views.

Will this trend continue? Will PUBG remain in the hearts and minds of gamers everywhere until its actual official launch? I can’t say for sure. What I do know is, I’d rather play games than watch them but I’m not judging.

Congrats, Bluehole! Once the game hits another milestone, we’ll be sure to let people know. Go check out PUBG’s week 20 update to see what’s new, and there’s a new first-person mode that got rolled out, too.

Blizzard Rebrands Battle.net for the Second Time

You may remember back in March when Blizzard decided it was time to head towards a new chapter in its life by rebranding the iconic Battle.net to simply Blizzard.

The change was met with sadness and reminiscing of the good ol’ days but was also met with confusion, as some found the rebrand to be unnecessary.

The confusion didn’t stop there though, as after the rebrand had taken place Battle.net was still popping up in areas of marketing material, most notably in May when Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would be available through Battle.net.

As Blizzard explains,

We understood that Battle.net stood for something special—it represents years of shared history and enjoyment, community and friendship, for all of us and our players” and that “…after giving the branding change further consideration and also hearing your feedback, we’re in agreement that the name should stay as well.

However, instead of Blizzard just reverting to Battle.net, they are stitching Blizzard to the name so that the brand will now be known as Blizzard Battle.net.

Are you happy that Blizzard reverted back to the iconic Battle.net name? Does it bring back some classic memories from the Warcraft days? Let us know in the comment section below!

EA to Decide on Nintendo Switch Software Support Based on FIFA and a Few Other Titles

Let’s be honest here; regardless if you’re a Nintendo fan or not, it’s hard to argue with the fact that third-party support for Nintendo consoles have been tepid at best and it’s been this way for the last few console generations. Will this happen to the highly successful Nintendo Switch, too?

While we can’t say for sure, one of the biggest video game publishers in the world is taking a wait and see approach on whether it will hedge its bet on Nintendo’s home console/handled hybrid. In the latest issue of EDGE, EA Worldwide Studios VP Erik Soderlund states that they’re determining whether to support the Switch based on FIFA 18’s success on the console.

We believe that we want to be a part of the Switch, and help Nintendo grow that installed base; that’s why you’ll see FIFA, which by the way is really good this year.

If they go well, I see no reason why we shouldn’t have as much of our portfolio on that platform as possible. I hope we get there, that would be my personal ambition.

Soderlund adds that he’s a “gigantic Nintendo fanboy” and that the House of M is the company responsible for him getting into the video game industry.

For the sake of Nintendo Switch owners everywhere, let’s hope FIFA 18 sells well enough that EA decides to release their diverse portfolio of games on Nintendo’s console. If not, well, there’s always Nintendo games, right?

Are you expecting third-party support for the Nintendo Switch to be better than the Wii U or previous Nintendo consoles? What can Nintendo do to fix this?

Sony Confirms Paris Games Week PlayStation Media Showcase Date & Time

Sony has confirmed the date and time that the Paris Games Week PlayStation Media Showcase will take place. It is scheduled for October 30 and will begin at 12pm ET/9am PT/4pm BST.

Deciding against hosting a press conference at last year’s PGW, it seems Sony is changing things up for 2017. We’re not sure what games will be on show, but following 2015’s display of big titles and some significant reveals, we’ll certainly be watching and anticipating something great.

Sony has been fairly mum about Media Molecule’s Dreams, which we’ll definitely be looking out for. Then there’s Detroit: Become Human from Quantic Dream, which if you’re a David Cage fan, is looking pretty fantastic. Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds may be shown off in more detail, with (upscaled) 4K still being all the rage. And, of course, there’s the state of PSVR, which could always use some more new games and support.

What do you want to see from Sony during their Paris Games Week PlayStation Media Showcase?
