Multiplayer Maps

Pod

A failed utopian community from the 70’s has left stacks of dilapidated residential pods nestled into an abandoned cliff side. Its residents long gone, the modernist compound now hosts frenetic combat as players must run atop the pods and navigate their multi-tiered interiors for a strategic edge.

Frost

Fresh snow meets explosive gunpowder in this snow-capped European city, where the bridge over a frozen canal separates it into two sides, requiring players to employ multi-level traversal strategies to outsmart and ultimately outshoot their enemies.

Takeoff

Though marooned in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, this remote launch site is all about the close-quarters combat, combining tight corners with open spaces for combat encounters reminiscent of the multiplayer map “Stadium” from Call of Duty®: Black Ops “First Strike.

Dig

Two archeological dig sites in Afghanistan have unearthed the perfect playground for combatants eager for hectic, unceasing battle, as this re-imagining of the fan-favorite Call of Duty®: World at War map “Courtyard” delivers two major chokepoints, a wide open layout, and raised platforms.

Zombies

Origins

With Call of Duty: Black Ops II Apocalypse, Treyarch reveals Origins, the most horrifying and imaginative Zombies experience yet. Players will be deployed to Dieselpunk-stylized World War I-era France where they will encounter the return of the four original heroes from the very first Zombies map, as well as hordes of zombies that have overrun trenches and fields, as well as the ruins of a mysterious and ancient location.

GTA Online Character To Be Molded After Your DNA

As we all know, Grand Theft Auto V’s online component, GTA Online, is set to feature an editor which will allow you image your character after yourself, or anyway you see fit. But how exactly will the character editor work in GTA Online?

According to a recent report by Shacknews, it simply comes down to your DNA. Powered by the hereditary-based creation system, character creation will allow you to pick your character’s appearance by choosing your parent’s heritage and choosing which parent you will most closely resemble using a gene dominance meter.

Those who drop some hefty amounts of cash for the collector’s edition of Grand Theft Auto V will have some more options to play with when it comes to creating your identity in GTA Online, as it will net you the Niko Belic, Claude and Misty customization options. Essentially, they will be parents that you can liken your character to.

Additionally, despite not being online to be able to rank up your character in various activities while offline, it doesn’t mean that they will stop living their life. Your character will be able to continue on with their daily routines and activities, for which you can set guidelines, which will ultimately impact your character’s appearance and skill set.

Grand Theft Auto V is set to launch on September 17 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and GTA Online will be available on October 1.

Borderlands 2 – UVHP 2 ‘Digistruct Peak’ Available September 3, Allows Use of Lvl 80 Loot

First announced during this year’s PAX Australia, Gearbox has confirmed that the upcoming Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack 2 that’s set to raise the level cap to 72 will also feature the all new ‘Digistruct Peak’, a mountain top training ground for the Crimson Raiders, and will release September 3.

Didistruck Peak will let players face enemies that they wouldn’t normally face at the same time such as skags and varkids and features an hour-long mission that’s suited for four players.

For those who love a real challenge, Gearbox is also throwing in the ‘Overpower’ feature, which will not only allow you to face harder enemies as you gain Overpower levels – capping out at 8 levels – but also allows you to collect and use loot up to level 80. That’s if you reach both the level 72 cap and the Overlimit cap.

Additionally, the headhunters DLC which will have our favorite vault hunters taking on new bosses and visiting new locales will also be priced much lower then the traditional campaign DLCs for Borderlands 2. Although no exact price was given, you can expect to get your hands on the first headhunters pack this October, as we visit T.K Baha in the ‘Bloody Harvest’ DLC add-on that’s expected to release in October.

The Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack 2 will be available on September 3 for $4.99 USD on the PC, Mac, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Those who bought Borderlands 2’s season pass will have to purchase this add-on separately as it’s not included in the season pass.

Thanks, Digitaltrends.

Who will be the first vault hunter with who you’ll reach the new level cap? Let us know in the comment section below!

Origin Schedules Battlefield 4 Beta for October 1 [Update: September 30 in North America]

It appears that when DICE announced that the Battlefield 4 beta would become available early October, they really meant early.

If an Origin listing is to be believed, the Battlefield 4 beta will be unlocked on October 1 and will be available for pre-load on September 28.

Check out the screen grab below, courtesy of @BanadaMan104, listing both dates for the Battlefield 4 beta.

BSnohZMCcAAV2ez

What we know so far is that Battlefield 3 Premium members, Medal of Honor: War Fighter Limited Edition owners, and those who’ve pre-ordered Battlefield 4 will have access to the beta three days before it opens up to the public in early October.

Neither DICE nor EA have officially confirmed any exact beta dates as of yet, so the dates above may subject to change. We’ll be sure to update once we hear official word.

Update

The time and date listed above comes from an Australian user. @taylorek6970 from the United States reports that the Battlefield 4 beta will unlock September 30 at 7:08PM UTC with pre-loading available on September 27 at 7:00PM UTC. On the West Coast, that puts the time at roughly 5:00/5:08 PM PDT.

Exclusive Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Apocalypse DLC Gameplay

Courtesy of Activision and Treyarch, we had the chance to visit their studio recently to take part in the Apocalypse that is Black Ops 2’s fourth and final DLC coming to Xbox Live tomorrow, August 27.

Along with some other well-known YouTube personalities, we were set up with some games on four of Apocalypse’s new maps; Dig, Frost, Pod and Takeoff. We also got to try our hands at Origins, Treyarch’s latest and most epic Zombies offering.

Dig

Dig simply felt good to play and brought back some pleasant old memories of Courtyard from World at War. In this re-imagining, however, Treyarch updated a few of the sight lines and raised the center structure in order to avoid some of those crazy cross-map sniper kills you might remember. The new setting definitely fits the layout as well.

[youtube id=”CUzh8ZFEWPc” width=”618″ height=”378″]

Pod

We played a really close game of TDM on Pod, Apocalypse’s smallest map. While TDM might be one of Call of Duty’s more bland game types, I definitely had a blast thanks to Pod’s close-quarters, fast-paced action. Navigation was really fluid and it was always easy to find a firefight. The setting features hints of Nuketown and I wouldn’t be surprised if Pod soon became an worthy alternative, or at least a great addition to Black Ops 2’s bevy of small maps. Be sure to check out that game winning kill-cam at the end!

[youtube id=”PtJK0k-tV3g” width=”618″ height=”378″]

Frost

When it came to objective-based game types, Frost’s three-lane layout was by far the best fit. We enjoyed an intense game of CTF where I mostly ca… I mean, ‘played defensively’, which I like to believe ultimately led to my team’s victory. An earlier game of Domination also proved to be rather heart-pounding. The snow-covered European setting is a nice change from Black Ops 2’s current line-up of maps, reminding me of a more Black Ops-era type of map. I think a lot of competitive folk will enjoy Frost.

[youtube id=”w2_qkklBnCw” width=”618″ height=”378″]

Takeoff

If you know Stadium, then you know Takeoff. Stadium quickly became a favorite of the original Black Ops’ first map pack and it’s appeal here is no different here, only this time, you get the new setting of a aerospace facility housing a giant rocket.

[youtube id=”RGYrNGnWJJs” width=”618″ height=”378″]

Origins

Right away, we could tell that Origins was filled to the brim with content and stuff to do and explore. There’s a lot going on, including new zombie types, new pick-ups, gigantic robots, and probably a bunch of new perks and weapons that we didn’t happen on discovering. Treyarch has also implemented a new in-game challenge system which I’m sure will unlock some pretty cool stuff. I don’t even want to know what sort of steps are involved in solving whatever easter egg the Zombie team has crafted this time.

The environment harkens back to the very first Zombies mini-game in World at War, but with a much more open layout that will have you navigating through trenches or out in the open, muddy battlefield. Just don’t get squished by giant robot feet.

Black Ops 2 Apocalypse DLC hits Xbox Live tomorrow, Tuesday, August 27 for $14.99 USD.

Battlefield 4 – DICE Teases New “Defuse” Game Mode

In a Battlefield Blog update recapping the events of Gamescom 2013 and outlining Battlefield 4’s most recently announced game mode, Obliteration, the studio at DICE also hinted at another incoming game type, of which we’ll learn more about later.

The new mode called “Defuse” will have infantry fighting over an objective without any respawns, a fairly new concept for the Battlefield franchise.

The blog reads:

We also have a second all-new game mode in Battlefield 4 called Defuse – where players don’t have any respawns at all for an even tighter and quicker infantry-only game mode. More on Defuse later.

So there you have it. From infantry-only tight mode Defused to frantic mobile warfare in Obliteration and the Battlefield classic Conquest on vast open maps. No matter your style of play or preference, you will find the mode in Battlefield 4.

Looks like we’ll learn more at a later date. What do you think “Defuse” is all about?

Blizzard Dev Hints At First Diablo 3 Expansion’s Console Release Plans

By now, you may have heard that the long awaited expansion pack for Blizzard’s dungeon crawler Diablo 3 has been finally revealed during this year’s Gamescom. Reaper Of Souls will add a new act, enemies, new level cap and a brand new playable character class.

But, for those wondering whether or not the newly announced expansion pack for Diablo 3 will make it to the home console platform in the near future, Josh Mosquiera, Diablo 3’s game director, recently spoke with Polygon, to whom he revealed the following:

Our philosophy has always been we work on one project at a time, we’ve got Diablo 3 on PC, we released it and then a small team splintered off to work on Diablo for the current consoles. Now the team’s really focused on Reaper of Souls for PC. So if you look at the past, you can probably infer what the future might bring. We don’t have any announcements at this point.

Although Reaper Of Souls has no set release date for the PC, you can see what this expansion will have in store once it’s available in the near future by checking out these trailers, which also showcases the new ‘Crusader’ class in action.

Diablo 3 is set to release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms on September 3, with a PlayStation 4 version to follow sometime in 2014. The game is now available now on the PC and Mac.

Would you like to see Blizzard bring Reaper Of Souls and any future expansions to the home console platform? Let us know in the comment section below!

PSA: Grand Theft Auto V Has Officially Gone Gold, Be Warned of Leaks

As of today, Rockstar Games is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto V has officially gone gold and is set to release on September 17th on the PS3 and Xbox 360 without any delays.

The publishers are currently in the process of readying the discs that’ll be shipped out to retailers in the next few weeks, and the digital release that is currently available for pre-order will be available for download on launch day.

Unfortunately, Sony of Europe allowed buyers who pre-ordered GTA V to pre-download it, which hackers were then able to then crack. Since the ability to pre-download it has been removed, this comes as a confirmation from both Rockstar and Sony.

Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets. These assets were posted online. We have since removed the digital pre-order file from the PlayStation Store in Europe. We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on September 17.

So. be warned. If you don’t want any story related or multiplayer content of the game to be spoiled, then we suggest you try to avoid comments, especially those on GTA-related forums. We’ll be sure to be on the look out for them and remove them as quickly as possible.

Battlefield 4 Q&A With DICE Developers – Team is “Still Working” on Next-Gen Console Resolution, More Info

DICE developers Lars Gustavsson and Patrick Bach tell you everything you need to know about Battlefield 4 in a series of videos straight from the show floor at Gamescom 2013.

They talk about all the things, little or big, that make up Battlefield 4 – or, at least all that they can currently talk about at this point in the game.

Interestingly, in response to concerns over the resolution at which Battlefield 4 will play on next-generation hardware, Gustavsson mentioned that the studio is “still working on it,” saying that during the project the teams is “chasing memory and chasing performance, so we haven’t settled…”

Patrick Bach confirms that Commander Mode will even appear in game modes like Rush and Obliteration, though it won’t appear in all game modes, particularly Team Deathmatch. He also goes into some pretty nitty gritty details like shooting in water and the potential return of motor bikes.

There’s a lot more to learn, so check out both videos below!

Battlefield 4 – Domination To Become a Standard Game Mode, Spectator Mode on Next-Gen Consoles

We’ve got some brand new Battlefield 4 details thanks to YouTuber Leutin09, straight from Gamescom 2013.

Through some of his latest videos, we’ve learned of some additional details regarding some of Battlefield 4’s new game modes as well as the status of Spectator Mode on next-gen consoles.

According to Leutin09, fans of Battlefield 3’s Conquest Domination game mode that was introduced through the game’s Close Quarters DLC can look forward to playing it as a standard game mode when Battlefield 4 ships this fall. Rather than introducing close quarters maps designed specifically for the game mode, players will be limited to a smaller portion of any of Battlefield 4’s multiplayer maps, similar to the way Team Deathmatch worked in Battlefield 3.

Good news for console players: the brand new Spectator Mode that the studio showed off at E3 2013 and is showing off here at Gamescom 2013 will be available on next-gen consoles as well as the PC. That should give eSports fans on the console something to look forward to.

There are a few additional points of info included in Leutin09’s round-up, but we suggest checking out the video below to get all caught up.
