Report: MLB The Show 21 Coming to Xbox Platforms, Release Set for April 20

For baseball video game fans, if you wanted an MLB licensed game,  you really didn’t have a choice other than Sony’s PlayStation-exclusive MLB The Show franchise. Well, it seems that starting with MLB The Show 21, Xbox players will be able to play the baseball sim, too!

On Instagram, reliable Funko Pop leaker anerdyad has posted the cover for MLB The Show 21, and it features shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. who appears on both the PS5 and Xbox One versions!

This isn’t the first time anerdydad has leaked video game news, as you can see below, they have leaked the cover athlete for NBA 2K21 and Kobe’s involvement with the game.

Further adding legitimacy to this leak is the existence of the MLB The Show Jackie Robinson Edition, with the marketing material clearly indicating it’s coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S! The image (via XboxOne Reddit) also mentions it’ll be playable early on April 16 for this specific edition, with the regular edition presumably being available to play four days after (April 20).

Also o  note, the cover athlete for MLB The Show 21 will be revealed tomorrow per the official MLB The Show Twitter:

While nothing here has been verified by Sony, the chances of this being legitimate seems very, very high. If you ever wanted to see a Sony-published game or a game made by a Sony first-party studio to appear on Xbox platforms, well, you’re about to get your wish.

The MLB The Show franchise has been developed by San Diego Studio which is a first-party studio owned by Sony. Unles things change, MLB The Show 21 will once again be published by Sony under Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).

GoldenEye 007 Remaster Gameplay Footage Surfaces

Released way back in 1997 for the Nintendo 64, Rare’s GoldenEye 007 is heralded as the granddaddy of console multiplayer shooters. At the time, online gaming wasn’t anywhere near as widespread as it is now, and multiplayer meant splitscreen, couch multiplayer gaming. While we never got around to see a proper GoldenEye 007 remaster, we do have the next best thing — and that’s gameplay footage of it!

YouTuber Graslu00 has posted the complete campaign and even multiplayer of GoldenEye 007 remastered for the Xbox 360 running at 4K resolution and 60 frames-per-second via the Xenia emulator. This was supposed to be released on Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) before legal issues between Nintendo, Microsoft, etc., got in the way.

In the video description, Graslu00 says he cannot divulge (yet) on just how he managed to get their hands on this build, and mentions that they’ve been told that this is set for release in 2021!

*Is this releasing soon/some day?*
-Release is not on me, I cannot publish this. I’ve been told it’ll be released in 2021.

*Does this mean it’s being hoarded?*
-No. Patience is key. I’ve been told it’ll be released eventually in 2021. I can’t and won’t take the risk of doing so.

While there’s no official news on whether we’ll see a GoldenEye 007 remaster this year, we do know that Hitman developer IO Interactive has secured the James Bond license and is working on a game — and possible trilogy — with a new storyline.

Resident Evil Village to Feature Open-World Elements According to Steam Page

While Capcom gave us a our first gameplay look at Resident Evil Village a week ago, there are still a lot of questions in the game that remain unanswered. While we all know that it’ll be played in a first-person point of view, it looks like the game will feature open-world elements as well.

This little nugget of info has been spotted on the game’s official SteamDB page, where it was updated by Capcom to include “Open World.”

Over on Twitter, reliable Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem mentioned that Resident Evil Village uses a “small” open-world design, which is similar to Metroidvania titles where exploration is key.

(1/2) Resident Evil Village has a sorta small open world design, Metroidvania is the word the team uses. There’s more of a focus on exploration, every area connecting, & returning to areas than most recent RE games.

The game also has some nudity & sexual content, an example I

(2/2) know is those “moth lady” vampires people have been raving about recently, when they dissipiate or are killed they are naked for a moment, that said they turn… goopy, and into these crawling spider things, which are not very attractive, so take that as you will.

Mind, we’re not expecting Grand Theft Auto levels of open-worldness here, and Dusk Golem’s proclamation of the game being similar to Metroidvania in terms of exploration design does make sense since the Resident Evil franchise is known for exploration — though one with a mostly linear path.

Would you welcome a Resident Evil game with a more Metroidvania-styled exploration design or should Capcom stick to what’s familiar with franchise fans? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments.

Thanks, Biohazardcast!

Those curious what’s in store for Warframe in 2021, Digital Extremes has given us a glimpse at the next major expansion during the studio’s first-ever devstream of 2021! The Warframe next update, called “Update 30” will come this March, and is titled “Call of Tempestarii.”

There’s a new Warframe called “Sevagoth,” and as one might expect, loads of new content! Head on below for our first gameplay look at the 46th Warframe Sevagoth, and more details regarding Update 30 via the press release!

Currently in development for a March release, Call of the Tempestarii will offer quintessential Warframe content and new wrinkles in Railjack gameplay. From the all new Corpus Railjack space combat spotlighting omnipotent Capital Ships, chaotic Void Storms and Command Intrinsics, DE will weave the recent Orphix Venom mech battles into missions to vary Railjack with more core gameplay. Call of the Tempestarii is yet another step in delivering a better Railjack experience.

Sevagoth, the 46th Warframe, digs into the ethereal by sowing, reaping and draining enemy souls. Sevagoth offers four classic Warframe Abilities plus the powerful second ‘Wraith’ meter, which, when full, unleashes an exalted Reaper form with three base powers.

The player-favorite musical Warframe, Octavia Prime, is the next Prime Warframe. Capable of defeating enemies by wielding musical weapons and sonic attacks, Octavia Prime offers a complete package including her two signature weapons (Tenora Prime, Pandero Prime), new Armor and Syandana and, best of all, the bonus Prime Shawzin, the player-favorite Orokin guitar. In addition to the expansion coming in March, Digital Extremes has also announced that on Monday, February 1, the Nightwave: Intermission 3 content will be available for players! There are two new special seasonal activities coming (Star Days and Lunar New Year), several new Dojo upgrades and more.

Choosing the Right Gaming Chair for the Right Occasion

Selecting a gaming chair can be a challenge at times, especially when it comes to the proper occasion for it. Whether you’re there for comfort or just somewhere to plant yourself firm and play straight away, the right chair for the right occasion is always going to be at the back of your mind.

Thankfully, there a couple of suggestions of Cheap Gaming Chairs in mind that should put you on the way to devising your own gaming setup. Whether it be the thrill of playing first person shooters like Apex Legends or Halo, the rush of competitive multiplayer games like Genshin Impact and League of Legends; the technical skills one must master in fighting games like Street Fighter and Tekken, or simply enjoying a single player journey in games like Death Stranding, Final Fantasy, or Resident Evil — You need a nice chair to sit back and relax in.

Of course, a good chair and space is defined by how the gamer sets up his domain — It matches their preferred color scheme and has the look to back up their design choices. You can be a renegade and just build one loud set up with the gaming chair as your throne; Be a minimalist and keep things simple, clean, and elegant with a nice clean seat on the side; Or you can express yourself by embracing the theme of your favorite symbol or icon. All that will compliment the cheap gaming chair  you ultimately select — It’s all a matter of choosing the right one for the right occasion.

So there you have it — Food for thought on how to choose the perfect seat with a budget for you. Whether or not it’s cheap or a little more than what you expected to pay for it, what matters is that  you have it and it’s something that reflects the gamer in you. Now get to playing and entering a gaming world with the seat of your dreams on hand.

Halo Infinite Will Feature Fully Customizable Control Scheme

Halo players and veterans who want to have full control over the way the play will be happy to know that the developers are listening, as 343 Industries mentioned in a new blog post that Halo Infinite will feature a fully customizable control scheme — allowing anyone to fix and map the controller as they see fit.

According to Halo Infinite lead Sandbox designer Quinn DelHoyo, they are focusing on accessibility and customization for players who want to configure the game with their new control scheme — giving them the convenience and flexibility to have fun with it.

“Everything should feel intuitive and we don’t want the player to have to “fight” the game in order to have fun,” DelHoyo said. “It’s because of this principle, and the fact that Halo Infinite will be on PC, that led us to rebuild the control scheme system to allow players to fully rebind and remap their controls, regardless of platform. How players control Chief or their Spartan is crucial and we recognize that players feel the most connected to the game when control customization is fully featured.”

Halo Infinite is among our most anticipated games of 2021, which you can check out the rest of the list here.

Halo Infinite is scheduled for a Q3/Q4 2021 release for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

Tomb Raider Animated Series Announced by Netflix

Looks like Lara Croft’s adventures are going to get the anime treatment in the small screen, as Netflix has announced that they are making a Tomb Raider anime style series — and it takes place after the events of the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy of games that were released in the past several years.

Here’s the little details that were shared by The Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, Tomb Raider picks up after the events of Square Enix’s Tomb Raider video game reboot trilogy, which was released in installments from 2013-18 and was developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal. It will be unrelated to the ongoing series of films starring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, the adventurer first introduced in 1996.

Tasha Huo, known for The Witcher: Blood Origin, will write and executive produce Tomb Raider. Other executive producers include dj2 Entertainment Founder and CEO Dmitri M. Johnson, Stephan Bugaj and Howard Bliss; and Jacob Robinson.

Rebooted in 2013 by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, Tomb Raider modernized Lara Croft for a new generation of gamers — turning her into a hardened survivor and fortune seeker who gets her “baptism by fire” adventure after getting shipwrecked in the island of Yamatai. The reboot was a critical and financial success, and spawned two sequels — Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and even inspired the 2018 film reboot of the same name starring Alicia Vikander.

On a releted note, a Tomb Raider 10th Anniversary game was recently unearthed by modders who found the missing assets for the cancelled project.

Hitman 3 DLC in Development by IO Interactive

The World of Assassination Trilogy may have concluded with the release of Hitman 3, but IO Interactive has stated in a recent interview with The Gamer that they are looking towards the future — and are developing some future DLC content for the game that fans can look forward to.

According to IO Interactive executive producer Forest Swartout Large, the company has been constantly working on new content despite Hitman 3 already launching for consoles and PC.

“We’re continuously working on Hitman so we are already looking to the future,”

Large also teased what fans can expect from the DLC, including using familiar locations and adding a twist to them — such as Hitman 2016 maps and so on.

“We are definitely going to be doing some DLC, but we haven’t defined what that is,” Large explained. “I think for now we are not looking at new maps like the bank and the island.

“We’re more looking at using existing locations and reimagining them, twisting them. And this time around, we can use the whole trilogy. We can look back at Hitman 2016 maps, Hitman 2 maps – we have all the locations.”

Speaking about Hitman 3, the game has already recouped development costs in just a week since it was released.

Hitman 3 is available for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch (via Cloud Gaming), Google Stadia, and PC.

Apex Legends Fuse Character Trailer, Abilities and More Revealed

In just a few short days, Respawn Entertainment is bringing Season 8 to Apex Legends and with it, a new legend in Fuse! Repawn has today released the Apex Legends Fuse character trailer, as well as a breakdown of the legend’s backstory, abilities and more.

FUSE

Bombastic Explosives Expert

Ladies’ man, man’s man, and all-round manly man, Fuse is a one man wrecking crew… and he knows it. Fuse exudes joy; he’s a laid-back explosives enthusiast who’s damn near covered in things that go BOOM. Fuse doesn’t lack confidence, but he often lacks a plan. He’s a blow-up-first ask-questions-later kinda guy, who’s always looking for a good scrap.

Fuse grew up on Salvo–a brutal planet ruled by a rotating collection of misfit warlords bent on mayhem, murder, and good times. For most of his life, he worked as a mercenary alongside his childhood friend, Maggie. But while she aspired to become one of Salvo’s most powerful warlords, Fuse felt the pull of the arena. Fuse found his calling late in life fighting in Salvo’s bloodsport: the Bonecage. He proved to be the best, most charismatic and beloved gladiator on the planet. But he itched to join the grandest stage of them all: the Apex Games. While Salvo remained a part of Independent Space that dream was impossible, but once they joined the Syndicate, his chance arrived. It came at a price, however — Maggie wouldn’t let him go without a fight.

Real Name: Walter Fitzroy
Age: 54
Home World: Salvo
Tactical Ability: Knuckle Cluster
Passive Ability: Grenadier
Ultimate Ability: The Motherlode

Here are his abilities and ultimate, which is the most important thing with this new legend.

Marvel’s Avengers PC Update January 29 Brings v1.4.1.26 Steam Patch Changes

Crystal Dynamics has released a Steam-specific patch for Marvel’s Avengers! The Marvel’s Avengers PC update January 29 patch brings it to v1.4.1.26 on Steam! Head on below for the official list of changes.

This patch should automatically be applied, and if it doesn’t, restart the Steam client.

Marvel’s Avengers PC Update January 29 Patch Notes:

Patch Notes:

  • Improvements to stability and performance, this patch solves some reports of the DEVICE_HUNG crash.
  • NVIDIA DLSS in Marvel’s Avengers now supports Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS). When DRS is enabled along with DLSS, DLSS dynamically adjusts render resolution to deliver maximum image quality while maintaining the target frame rate.
  • When determining settings on the initial run of the game, or when resetting settings to default, the game will now set defaults better tailored to your machine. The selected output resolution will take into account your GPU power, Dynamic Resolution Scaling will be set to 60fps on sufficiently capable hardware, and DLSS will be enabled by default on all hardware that supports it.
  • The game now warns players on NVIDIA hardware with drivers older than 461.09 to upgrade. These drivers contain fixes that are important to solid performance and stability of Marvel’s Avengers.

Don’t forget, Crystal Dynamics has announced that a new War Table is coming this February 16. and will feature Hawkeye and the new Operation: Future Imperfect content!

IP Licensor Signs New Gaming Deals Involving Fortnite, Mortal Kombat, Evil Dead & More

If you dig movie to game crossovers and the like, prepare for more to come your way. Creative Licensing Corp. (CLC) has announced that it has expanded its gaming deals!

Some of the new game deals that CLC has agreed to include:

  • “Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate”
  • “World of Tanks”
  • “Fortnite”
  • “Dead by Daylight;” and
  • “Evil Dead: The Game.”

Per License Global, it mentions that Rambo, The Terminator, and Evil Dead 2 are represented by Creative Licensing on behalf of StudioCanal, with Halloween represented by Creative Licensing for Compass International Pictures.

Given that this licensing deal has already proven to be fruitful with Mortal Kombat 11 featuring appearances by Rambo and The Terminator, Fortnite featuring characters from The Terminator franchise, and even World of Tanks already featuring Rambo, it’s hard to determine whether we’ll see more movie-to-games crossover content in the future. That said, seeing Michael Meyers from Halloween in Mortal Kombat 11 kinda makes sense given that game has brought in a lot of iconic movie characters into the roster.

Destiny 2 Seasonal Challenges Announced, Recoil Changes Due to Upcoming Crossplay Revealed

Those playing Destiny 2 and hated that FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) feeling whenever you can’t complete everything in a given time, Bungie is looking to reduce that by introducing Destiny 2 Seasonal Challenges. This is a new system set to launch soon for Destiny 2 which aims to remove FOMO, but also to give fresh ways for guardians to earn XP and alternate rewards.

The dev team at Bungie explains how Destiny 2 Seasonal Challenges work, and what their goal is for it.

Dev team: During production of Beyond Light, we started looking at the problems of bounty fatigue and FOMO, as well as Seasonal legibility (i.e., “What is in a Season?” and “How to I engage with it when I log in?”). We created a few goals which we believe will improve the experience:
    • Provide a guide to new, returning, and veteran players for what to do today/this week.
    • Guide the player through the Seasonal content, week-over-week.
    • Encourage players to engage with complexities and nuances of the Seasonal activity and rituals.
    • Reduce the penalties on XP and Bright Dust for missing a given week.
To solve these goals, we are introducing a new pursuit type for players – Seasonal Challenges. The Seasonal Challenges live on their own page, are accessed through the Quest Log or Season Pass, and are separated by week.
Here’s a quick breakdown of how this feature works:
    • Every week, for the first 10 weeks of a Season, between 3 and 10 new Challenges appear automatically for players.
        • Some of the Challenges deal with the Seasonal content.
        • Others push players to complete strikes, Gambit, and the Crucible, or to focus on non-activity focused Destiny rituals, like gaining Power, unlocking Seasonal Artifact mods, or improving guns and armor.
    • These Challenges can only be completed once per account, but once they become available, these Challenges can be completed at any time before the end of the Season, and do not need to be started or picked up from a vendor.
        • As an example, if a player doesn’t play for weeks 2 through 4, they can return on week 5 and have all of those Challenges waiting for them!
    • Completing each Challenge awards XP, contributing to your Season Pass ranks.
        • Other rewards could be Bright Dust, Seasonal currency, or other interesting items!
In moving away from weekly bounties, which were restricted to broad objectives tied to ritual activities, we have taken more leeway with creating some interesting or more difficult Challenges. These may be things you are already doing, or things that test your ability. Some examples include:
    • Defeating Primeval Envoys in Gambit
    • Defeating enemies in Nightfall: The Ordeal with Seasonal weapons
    • Gaining Infamy or Valor ranks
    • Acquiring the ritual weapon and its cosmetic ornaments
    • Winning rounds in Trials of Osiris
    • Completing a Grandmaster Nightfall
Per Bungie, roughly 60% of the Seasonal Challenges will not require the Season Pass. Also, the studio is moving away from weekly bounties the ritual vendors, though these vendors will still have daily bounties which reward XP, and will still feature repeatable bounties for those who want to farm XP and Bright Dust. Regarding Challenges rotating and being take out, here’s what Bungie had to say:
Lastly – most of the Challenges disappear after the Season they were introduced, and anything that isn’t claimed will be lost. We don’t add any new Challenges after Week 10 – which should give everyone a few weeks to clean up any Challenges they didn’t finish. Any Challenge that rewards unique or Seasonal items (currencies, lore books, Seasonal weapons, etc.) – can be completed as long as the Seasonal activity is in the game, but XP awarded for completing the challenge will only be available during the season it was introduced.
Bungie has also talked about Bright Dust as well, and these wll be tied into Seasonal Challenges too!
Let’s Talk Bright Dust
Back before Beyond Light launched, we discussed some of the goals around the changes to Bright Dust. As a refresher, we wanted to change the way you earn Bright Dust and move more towards account-specific paths to give players with only one character significantly more Bright Dust than they’ve been earning over the last year. In Season 13, we’ll be continuing to move toward these goals by adding Bright Dust onto Seasonal Challenges.
Since you no longer have to purchase weekly ritual bounties, each of the strike, Crucible, and Gambit Seasonal Challenges will award between 75 and 300 Bright Dust. We are also introducing an end-of-Season Bright Dust bonus – if you complete (nearly) all of the Seasonal Challenges, we are awarding a single 4,000 Bright Dust pile.
Additionally, each ritual vendor challenge (“Complete 8 bounties”) awards 120 Bright Dust for each character who completes it each week. And because this is prompted by the removal of weekly bounties, the only Seasonal Challenges that will be awarding Bright Dust are the ones that both Season Pass owners and free players can complete. Here’s a quick breakdown of how much Bright Dust you should expect to earn over the course of Season 13.
Seasonal Challenges Bright Dust (All Players)
  • Free Seasonal Activities – 6,000
  • Seasonal Extra – 4,000
  • Total – 10,000 Bright Dust
Season Pass Bright Dust
  • Free Path – 7,500 (All Players)
  • Paid Path – 3,000 (Players who own Season Pass)
  • Total – 10,500 Bright Dust
Weekly Ritual Vendor Challenge Bright Dust (All Players)
  • 120 Bright Dust per ritual vendor, per character, per week
    • 14,040 total if completing all required weekly Challenges over the course of Season 13
Additionally, we still plan to offer weekly and repeatable Bright Dust bounties for Seasonal events, giving you a bit more Bright Dust towards desired rewards.
As a final note, please be sure to claim all Seasonal Challenges that award Bright Dust prior to the end of a Season. Once a Season ends, associated Challenges and their Bright Dust rewards will expire and can no longer be claimed.
If that’s not enough news for you, Bungie has also discussed that recoil will be changing as preparation for crossplay!
Dev team: In preparation for crossplay, coming later this year, we’re making some changes to the Recoil stat.
Currently, several weapon archetypes have their Recoil reduced by around 40% (dependent on archetype) when using mouse and keyboard. This results in an issue where players on mouse and keyboard are able to largely ignore the stability weapon stat, creating unintended discrepancies in weapon performance between controllers and mouse and keyboard.
The following weapon archetypes will have their mouse and keyboard Recoil adjusted closer to controller (reduced the difference from ~40% to ~20%).
    • Auto Rifle
    • Scout Rifle
    • Pulse Rifle
    • Submachine Gun
    • Hand Cannon
    • Machine Gun
In the case of Pulse Rifle, Submachine Gun, and Machine Gun, we will also be introducing some buffs. In some cases, these weapons will have less Recoil across both Controller and mouse and keyboard input methods compared to what’s in the game today.
    • Submachine Guns are largely outclassed by Auto Rifles at medium range, and by Sidearms at short range, with player feedback often mentioning how hard they are to control. To address this feedback, we’re introducing the following change:
        • Reduced camera movement from firing a Submachine Gun by 24%.
    • Pulse Rifles with the mouse and keyboard changes were kicking a little too much.
        • Reduced camera movement from firing a Pulse Rifle by 7%.
    • Machine Guns with the mouse and keyboard changes were kicking a little too much.
        • Reduced camera movement from firing a Machine Gun by 9.5%.

We will pay close attention to how these changes play out when they go live, and plan to revisit individual archetypes in a future update as needed.

Outside of Recoil adjustments, we will also be tuning a few weapon archetypes in Season 13. Looking through backend data and community feedback, we landed on the following:
Buffs
    • Rocket Launchers have fallen behind other Heavy weapons in most measures of effectiveness, we’re pushing them more into a burst damage role.
        • Increased Rocket Launcher damage by 30%.
        • Exotic Rocket Launchers have been adjusted individually and are affected by this change to different degrees.
        • Paired with the buffs to reserves from last Season, we’re hoping you’ll explode many more things in Season 13!
    • Fusion Rifle usage is very low, and they feel like an unreliable choice in Crucible compared to Shotguns.
        • Increased Fusion Rifle damage falloff start distance based on Range stat. (6% with 0 Range, 16% with 100 Range)
        • Reduced camera movement from firing a Fusion Rifle by 9.5%.
    • Breech Grenade Launcher usage is very low (outside of Mountaintop). We believe part of the reason is that the loop of “hold the trigger to arm, then release to detonate” is challenging to execute, particularly since projectiles can bounce off targets if the trigger is held
        • Breech Grenade Launcher projectiles will now detonate on impact with a character, even if holding the trigger.
Nerfs
    • While Sniper Rifle usage has dropped in Crucible, we’ve observed that it’s hard to challenge someone with a Sniper Rifle – even if you get the first shot on an enemy, they can often respond and win the fight.
        • Increased ADS flinch to Snipers when taking damage from other players
    • Swords are extremely dominant in PvE. At this time, 65% of players are using Swords for the majority of gameplay encounters in Destiny 2. While we are introducing a buff to Rocket Launchers to make them a bit more enticing, we feel that Swords do too much damage compared to other options.
        • Reduced Sword damage by 15%.
Exotic Changes and Bug Fixes
    • Some Exotic weapons lose their buffs when you switch weapons, which is intended. They would also lose their buffs when pulling out your Ghost Shell, which is not intended. Fixed that issue on these weapons:
        • Ace of Spades
        • Tarrabah
        • Hawkmoon
    • Borealis and Hard Light now have a custom (quite short) animation for switching damage type.
    • Duality
        • Increased damage falloff distance by 1.25m (while both firing from the hip and aiming down sights).
        • Reduced maximum buff stacks from 7 to 5, each stack now grants more of a damage bonus, extended buff duration slightly.
    • Sturm will once again reload any equipped Special slot weapon on kill provided the Special weapon’s clip isn’t full already and there’s available reserve ammo.
    • Fixed an issue that was preventing Merciless from increasing its charge rate on non-lethal hits.
Ah, and before we go – we are planning to take a quick tuning pass on Arbalest. This won’t be ready in time for February 9, but we are expecting to have this touched later in Season 13!
Players can expect these changes to make their way once the new season starts on February 9.

Resident Evil Village Actress Jeanette Maus Passes Away at 39

Tragedy strikes the world of video games and Resident Evil, as acting teacher and Resident Evil Village actress Jeanette Maus has passed away at the age of 39 after a battle with colon cancer.

The news was broken by John Rosenfeld Studios on Instagram where Maus worked, as well as Capcom themselves sharing the sad news via Twitter.

As reported by Deadline — Maus, whose career includes starring in Charm City Kings and My Effortless Brilliance, was tapped to play several roles in the new Resident Evil sequel “Resident Evil Village”. Among the most important roles in the game was playing one of the witch sisters who make up the daughters of the House of Dimitrescu. Unfortunately for Maus, she suffered from Crohn’s disease in addition to contracting the coronavirus last year, which led to a GoFundMe campaign set up by her fiance Dusty Warren to help with her medical expenses.

“It is with a shattered-yet grateful-heart that I inform you that Jeanette Maus passed away late last night due to complications of cancer,” Warren wrote on Facebook. “I’m really sad, but I’m super proud of her. She fought so hard, with tremendous grace and optimism, inspiring myself and I’m sure many of you.”

You can see some of Maus acting in the latest trailer to Resident Evil Village, which was released last week during the RE Showcase event.

Resident Evil Village will be released on May 7.

Apex Legends Season 8 Ranked Changes Revealed

With Apex Legends Season 8 set to launch next week, not only are players getting a new legend, map and other content, but the ranked mode for the game will be getting changes as well. Respawn has now revealed the Apex Legends Season 8 ranked changes, which should be good news for most players.

Before you dive into the changes, Respawn has also revealed the Season 7 ranked mode results.

As of 1/21/2021, we have the following distribution among players in Split 2 who played more than 5 hours of Ranked (versus Season 6):

  • 16.35% Bronze (17.76%)
  • 23.86% Silver (26.23%)
  • 32.09% Gold (36.25%)
  • 23.13% Platinum (17.75%)
  • 4.37% Diamond (1.89%)
  • 0.20% Master & Apex Predator (0.12%)

Apex Legends Season 8 Ranked Changes:

A consistent and on-going goal for the Apex Ranked team is to ensure competitive integrity through skill-based matchmaking. For Season 8, we are taking a bigger swing at some of our goals, while taking into account a lot of feedback from the community.

Some of these goals for Season 8 are:

  • Create a healthier top end in Diamond+. Diamond, Master and Predators are reserved for the best of the best. We don’t want to change that. But, we do want these players competing against more players of similar skill, more often. In previous seasons, the player pool in Diamond+ was too small to consistently provide fair matches, so we aim to improve this by providing more opportunities for good players to earn RP.
  • Improve match quality for ranked matches. This means we are aiming to fill most, if not all, of players in your Ranked match with players in the same rank tier. This may cause slightly longer queue times, but more competitively fair matches. We think this is worth it, and we’ll monitor queue times and sentiment closely around these changes.

Here’s the details of changes to the RP system designed to support these goals:

  • Earn placement RP earlier in a match
    • RP rewards begin at placement 13 instead of 10 in a match.
  • Kill/Assist count has been raised to 6
    • Earn RP for more of your kills and assists in a given match.
    • This is a slight nudge to give really good players a slightly faster trip back to their competitive rank, while giving our top tier players more ways to pull ahead of the pack in the Predator ranks.
  • Assist Threshold Increased to 10 seconds
    • Earn assists for up to 10 seconds (up from 7.5 seconds) after dealing damage to a target that is killed by someone else.
  • Predator has been increased to the top 750 players
    • Allowing more players to enter predator should improve queue times while remaining an exclusive tier for the highest levels of play.
  • Matchmaking Tightening
    • Players below Diamond will matchmake much more often within their own Ranks.

Respawn has also announced that for Season 8 onwards, Diamond Skydive Trails will be making a return as a ranked reward! Woo-hoo!

SEASON 8 RANKED MAPS AND SPLIT DATES

Kings Canyon crashes back into the scene for the first split which ends March 23rd, 2021. The second split will take us back to Olympus for the remainder of the Season.

World’s Edge is taking a break from ranked play but will return in a later season.

Season 7 Rewards:

Here’s a preview of all the Season 7 ranked rewards you’ll be earning when the Season swaps over:

Don’t forget, Apex Legends Season 8 wuill launch next week on February 2! Head on over here to see the map changes coming to King’s Canyon in Season 8! As for gameplay changes, there will be a Gold Magazine coming in Season 8 that will let players automatically reload their weapons once it’s holstered!
