Star Wars Squadrons Leaked via Xbox Store (Update)

Over on the Xbox Store, the existence of “Star Wars Squadron” has just been leaked! Check out the leaked image below. While nothing has been announced, we’re guessing this game is being made by Criterion Games, who recently announced that they are now moving on from Need for Speed Heat.

Update (6/12/20 – 7:25 p.m. EDT): EA has sent us an email announcing that the official reveal for Star Wars Squadron is happening this Monday, June 15 at 8 a.m. PDT/11 a.m. EDT on the official EA Star Wars YouTube channel!

As the image suggests, this game will be about dogfights based in the Star Wars universe, and if Criterion is indeed developing it, isn’t surprising given the studio developed the Starfighter Assault game mode (arcade flight PvP) in Star Wars Battlefront 2.

From what we’ve gathered, Star Wars Squadrons is codenamed “Project Maverick” and is undergoing internal playtesting within EA as per our previous report.

Odds are, Star Wars Squadrons will be one of the games set to be announced by EA during next week’s EA Play digital event. While we know it exists, we might be getting our first glimpse of gameplay then, so it’ll still be a surprise.

EA Play is set for June 18 at 4 p.m. PDT/7 p.m. EDT.

EA Cements the End of Battlefield V Marketing With Removal of Social Media References

Battlefield fans will most likely already know that DICE has moved on from Battlefield V (Battlefield 5), and has given fans one last content drop. While that doesn’t mean the studio won’t be releasing any patches for the game to fix stuff, BFV players shouldn’t expect anything new for the shooter, either.

Well, it seems EA has moved on as well. Over on Twitter and on Facebook, the official Battlefield account for both has taken the Battlefield V-related profile and cover photos out, and with Twitter, the “BattlefieldV” username has been subbed out to just say “Battlefield.”

For Battlefield V players, this is a bit jarring to see that EA has removed that game’s branding this fast — and we don’t even know any details regarding the next Battlefield game, even.

It looks like the #SaveBFV movement started by fans hasn’t done anything to postpone the inevitable. Let’s hope the next Battlefield game has longer legs. On the upside, a bunch of legacy Battlefield titles are no available on Steam!

Alpha Predator Is Coming to Predator Hunting Grounds

Illfonic has announced that the Alpha Predator, an original NECA figure design, will be making its way into Predator Hunting Grounds!

This news comes from an official Instagram accounts of both NECA and Illfonic.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by IllFonic (@illfonic)

In collaboration with 20th Century Studios, and game developer IllFonic, the National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA) today announced the Alpha Predator, an original design by the toy company, as a playable class in Predator: Hunting Grounds for the PS4™ system. The initial run of the Alpha Predator action figure in the US will see a limited release, with each box including a downloadable content (DLC) code. Players on the PS4™ system can redeem the code online to unlock the Alpha Predator in-game.

Beginning with 2010’s Predators movie, NECA has rapidly expanded its toy line to include a variety of characters seen in the Predator universe (films, comics, video games, etc.). Ten years later, NECA is celebrating Predator as one of its most successful licenses by fully realizing their own original design that pays homage to the franchise’s early days. Complete with a backstory to fit in with the lore, the Alpha Predator commemorates the 100th action figure release in the toy manufacturer’s Predator line. “We have been working closely with the great team at IllFonic. When the opportunity presented itself to allow for the inclusion of Alpha Predator into the game we jumped at the chance. It’s so gratifying to see our original action figure design come to life as a playable character in the game. The whole NECA studio was elated to see the character model and we cannot wait to play as Alpha this Summer” said Randy Falk, NECA Director of Product Development.

As the post explains, the only way for players to get their hands on the Alpha Predator is by purchasing the NECA figure. No details on whether this skin would be available down the line to other users, though hopefully, that becomes the case as the figure alone costs a hefty $60. Additionally, one of the winners from a recent giveaway hosted by Illfonic was granted an early code for the Alpha Predator, giving us our first look at how the skin looks in-game.

Pretty neat! As mentioned, we aren’t sure if this skin will become available for everyone or if it really is an exclusive for the NECA line, though perhaps we will see later this month or next as the next wave of content (free and paid) from the roadmap will be revealed very soon. We’ll be sure to update you all when that happens, so stay tuned!

Demon Souls Comparison: Remake vs Original

An early direct Demon Souls comparison between the original PlayStation 3 release and the newly announced remake is now out online for those curious how much has changed visually.

Down below you can watch the direct comparison, created by YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits. The comparison was made using both direct screenshots from the actually PlayStation 3 build of Demon Souls and the original reveal trailer for it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnN9aA6ZxEQ

I have to say, the remake is looking pretty dam good though there are so noticeable character design changes that may not sit well with the fans. Personally, I kind of prefer the grimier look that the original Demon Souls had in some scenes, but watching this comparison video you can clearly see a massive generation leap between the two titles.

About the Demon Souls remake:

From JAPAN Studio and Bluepoint Games comes a remake of the PlayStation classic, Demon’s Souls,” reads the official description.

This remake invites players to experience the original brutal challenge, completely rebuilt from the ground up and masterfully enhanced with a new ‘Fractured Mode’.

In addition to beautiful shadow effects and ray tracing, players can choose between two graphics modes while playing: one focused on fidelity, and one focused on frame rate. Coming to PlayStation 5.”

Demon Souls Remake will be launching exclusively for the PS5. No release window has been given by Sony, Japan Studio or Bluepoint Games.

Gran Turismo 7 Announced for PS5

Well, it seems our assumption regarding the trademark filing timing was right! The next chapter in the acclaimed driving simulator series has been announced. Here’s our first look at the PS5 exclusive, Gran Turismo 7.

Down below you’ll find the trailer for Gran Turismo 7, which shows off many of the staple franchise features, and some returning areas such as Trial Mountain. The first half of the video is a trailer, while the second half gives us some actual gameplay footage, and we have to say it looks absolutely spectacular.

Details from Sony

From classic vehicles and tracks to the reintroduction of the legendary GT Simulation Mode – Gran Turismo 7 brings together the best features from past installments of the series alongside the future. An even more realistic driving experience awaits thanks to haptic feedback, which brings to life what it’s like when the tires hit the road. PS5’s immersive 3D audio allows players to sense the position of other cars and drivers around them. Coming to PlayStation 5.

No release window was given for Gran Turismo 7, though we expect to hear more on the title once the PlayStation 5 has been released later this year. Be sure to keep an eye on out official GT7 Hub page for any updates concerning the title.

PlayStation fans, it’s finally here! Sony is set to reveal our first look at next-gen games! Thankfully, there’s a PS5 games reveal stream happening! While the show is pre-recorded, that won’t dampen the excitement for those looking forward to next-gen.

The PS5 games reveal stream starts at 1 p.m. PDT/4 p.m. EDT, and will approximately be two hours long. You can watch it below via YouTube or Twitch.

While we don’t know for sure what games Sony will be showcasing, we’re hoping we’ll see the next chapter in God of War, maybe Horizon Zero Dawn 2, and more! Based on the timing of a recent trademark filing, perhaps a new Gran Turismo game announcement might be incoming too.

What are you hoping to see from this PS5 games showcase? Will we see the console itself? A price announcement? Probably no on both, but who knows.

Dauntless Update 1.30 June 11 Brings Call of the Void Content

As expected from last weekend’s announcement, Phoenix Labs has released the Dauntless update 1.30 June 11 patch that brings the Call of the Void content and gameplay changes!

Dauntless update 1.30 June 11 patch notes:

New to Dauntless:

UMBRAL ESCALATION
Strange ruins, dark energy, and a lost civilization — discover the new Umbral Escalation, and take up arms against the new threat looming beyond the Shattered Isles: Thrax.

To challenge Thrax, you’ll need to make your way past the Shadowtouched Behemoths that lurk in the Umbral Deeps. Umbral variants of Nayzagas, Koshais, and Drasks will block your path. But you’ll need to face them and brave the depths to uncover the truth.

NEW BEHEMOTH: THRAX
With the power to tear holes in reality and strike from anywhere, this agile Behemoth is not to be taken lightly. Thraxes are fast, deadly portal users who can attack from anywhere, so you’ll need to keep eyes peeled, your head on a swivel, and your finger hovering over dodge.

NEW HUNT PASS: RELICS & RUIN
We know the Void Runners traversed these caves, but for what purpose? Investigate the ancient ruins and learn their secrets with the new Hunt Pass. Earn rewards while you hunt and make your way to level 50. Relics & Ruin is active now and ends July 23.

SLAYER JOURNAL
Discover the secrets of the Shattered Isles by unlocking Journal entries. The mysteries of the Umbral Deeps, the Behemoths, and even Ramsgate itself are revealed as you explore.

TRAINING GROUNDS
Try out new weapons, learn combos, test loadouts, or help new players! The Training Grounds have arrived, giving you a chance to get comfortable with different gear and maximize your damage output. If you’ve ever wanted to try out a build without putting your face in the path of an Embermane, this is the place to do it.

NEW:

  • Client-authoritative dodging is now live. This will improve playability for players with high latency, and more clearly communicate when you’re invulnerable during a dodge.
  • Dauntless is now available in Russian on all platforms except PlayStation 4, which will be coming in a future update.
  • The Trials aether strikers skins (Victorious and Champion) are available in Lady Luck’s store.
  • The main menu has been reworked to match the scale of the game we have now, and to allow for some of the new features we’ll be releasing in the future. It’s also much easier to navigate on consoles.

Weapons:

AETHER STRIKERS

Aether strikers are still overperforming. We’re toning down the damage, and will be monitoring how this goes to determine if further tuning is necessary.

  • 270 degree tail attack now only deals damage with the tail (no more head/leg damage).

  • Tempestborne Stormclaw’s lightning curse now affects all players. Regular Stormclaw’s curse still affects only one player.
  • Tempestborne Stormclaw’s teleport pounce now has a clearer and more consistent telegraph that indicates direction
  • Fixed a bug where Stormclaws would walk instead of running when trying to pounce.
  • Reduced the speed of Tempestborne Stormclaw’s ball lightning to make it more consistent with the base version, and slightly increased its homing.
  • When interrupted from a pounce, Tempestborne Stormclaw will now be staggered for a longer period of time.
  • You can now reflect Stormclaw lightning bolt attacks with the axe special and repeater secondary fire.
GNASHER
  • Ragetail Gnasher’s aftershock slams are now slightly more forgiving to dodge.

DRASK
  • Fixed a bug that allowed shock procs on Drask.

Quality of Life:

SOCIAL

We want to make it easy for Slayers to form connections and party up together. As a first step, we spent some time brushing up areas in our existing social interactions that tend to confuse players the most. We also made some adjustments to voice chat to make it easier and better to use with your party.

  • New Social Panel UI and art.
    – The UI now more clearly shows which friends are available to party up and play.
    – It’s easier to see what your friends are currently doing in game.
    – It’s easier to see whether you have your mic muted or unmuted, and whether your voice chat is enabled. You can also able to enable/disable voice chat from the Social Panel.
    – We’ve added notification breadcrumbing and brighter color treatments to make it clearer when you have a new party, friend, or guild request.
  • You can now open up an interaction menu with other Slayers in Ramsgate and in your airship lobby. In Ramsgate, if you are nearby another Slayer, you’ll see an interaction button appear. Through that, a social options menu will pop up, which lets you easily invite them to your party, add them as a friend, or send them a message. In the airship lobby, you can select another Slayer and pull up that same social options menu.
  • Voice chat is now only between party members.
  • You can now use chat commands to perform social functions.
    Party: /invite /accept /decline /leave /kick /promote
    Friend: /invite /accept /decline /unfriend
    General: /whisper /block /unblock
GAMEPLAY
  • VFX indicators will show when you have successfully dodged through an attack.
  • Unlocking an Escalation boost in the Hunt Pass will no longer activate the boost immediately, and instead make a free store item available to claim when you want it.
  • Increased health that players receive when being revived in hunts and escalation, in order to lower the likelihood of getting one-shot immediately after being revived.
UI
  • Added new tutorial slates for the Training Grounds, stamina, weapon sheathing, bounties, the danger meter, and crafting.
  • Added a new setting in the Options screen to control whether the Objective Tracker HUD is visible or hidden.
  • Changing your hairstyle, facepaint, or makeup will now display the name of the item you’re equipping.
  • When showing facepaints and hair tints in the Hunt Pass screen, your helm will hide automatically.
  • Made improvements to tutorial, mastery, and crafting screens.
  • Improved UI for remapping controller buttons on PC.
  • A lock is now shown over armour dye regions that aren’t available.
QUESTS
  • If interacting with an NPC depends on completing a quest, their dialogue will now hint at how to unlock them.
  • The quests “Luck Be A Lady” and “Weapon of Choice” have been removed.
  • “Before the Dawn” now rewards 10 Dull Arcstones (up from 5).
  • “Before the Dawn” is now before “Dire Warnings”.
  • “Bring on the Night” is now after “Dire Warnings”.
  • “Dire Warnings” now no longer requires “Slay Rockfall Skarn”, “Slay Ragetail Gnasher”, “Complete ‘Before The Dawn’”, “Complete ‘Bring on the Night’”, and “Complete ‘The Arcstone Defence’”.
  • Lantern abilities are locked until the “Light the Way” quest is accepted.
PERFORMANCE
  • Improved load times.
  • Framerate in Ramsgate is now more consistent.
  • Player-owned items will load more quickly, preventing cases where your loadout inventory would appear incorrect when loading into Ramsgate or the Airship.
  • Reduced CPU usage when around other players.
  • Substantially improved city performance on all platforms.
  • Minor performance improvements on Nintendo Switch.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the game to crash if the output audio device was removed or changed.
  • Fixed several rare crashes, including a crash that could occur if there were no inbox messages.
MISCELLANEOUS
  • Interacting with the Hunt Board while matchmaking now opens the matchmaking UI.
  • Various improvements to objects and art on islands.
  • Improved the audio for waterfalls.
  • NPCs now have a variety of context-sensitive greetings as you progress through the game.
  • New VFX and SFX for breaking out of being frozen.

BUG FIXES:

GAMEPLAY

  • Cancelling a long knockdown (e.g. via attacking, dodging, using Koshai lantern, etc.) will correctly remove the invulnerability from being knocked down.
  • Tragic Echo and Prismatic Grace legendary helm unique effects now trigger more reliably.
  • Fixed a bug where players would be immune to the second lightning curse strike if you dodged the first.
  • Fixed a bug where low priority staggers (e.g. part breaks) would interrupt high priority staggers (e.g. interrupts, stagger damage).
  • Fixed a bug where players could leave the final arena in Blaze Escalation.
  • Made improvements to art in Shock Escalation.
  • Fixed a bug where Nine Lives and From The Ashes could proc at the same time, consuming both. Now, only one will trigger the first time you get downed, and the other will trigger the next time.
  • Fixed a bug that caused shock danger zones not to apply damage.
  • Fixed a bug where Behemoths could spawn on top of each other.
  • Fixed a bug that made it possible to trigger Nine Lives when dodging through an attack.
  • Fixed a bug that caused players to occasionally fly off into the sky after viewing the arrival cinematic.
COSMETICS
  • Made improvements to the Skyfighter chest armour skin to make it work better with other arm armours.
  • Fixed a bug where a Slayer’s arms might shrink while wearing the Dustrider’s Coat.

  • Berserker Vision helm transmog right eye VFX now attaches correctly.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Arc of Exocrul banner fabric to be off-center on one side.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause some skin to be invisible when using the Seismic Soldier chest armour skin on a feminine body type.
  • Fixed a bug where certain armour pieces would disappear when using Iceborne or similar VFX.
UI
  • Fixed a bug where logging into a different account or resetting your character would not reset your locally tracked objectives in the HUD.
  • Fixed a bug where names above the players would not be visible in some circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug where the first quest directing the player to speak with Kat Sorrel would not show an objective in the Objective Tracker HUD.
  • Fixed a bug where the Objective Tracker HUD’s next and previous keys could not be reassigned (PC only).
  • Fixed a bug where Slayers would have a nameplate displayed above their head when it should be hidden.
  • Fixed an issue where the daily Hunt Pass collectibles HUD notification in Ramsgate would show an incorrect total number of collectibles.
  • Fixed an issue where tracked side quests would sometimes not show up in the Objective Tracker HUD after restarting Dauntless on consoles.
  • Fixed a bug where the main menu could not be accessed in the airship lobby on consoles.
  • Fixed a bug that could prevent the main menu from opening.
  • Fixed a bug where Mastery progress and objectives didn’t display correctly after character reset.
  • Fixed a bug where cores in the core breaker would be invisible.
  • Using the Bloodless cell no longer shows the wounded status effect in the UI.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the UI to get stuck if an image failed to download.
  • Fixed a bug that could prevent purchases from completing.
  • Nameplates will no longer obscure the End of Hunt screen UI.

  • Inbox message title text can no longer overflow.
  • Fixed a bug where notifications for claiming completed bounties would disappear when returning to Ramsgate.
MISCELLANEOUS

  • Fixed an audio bug where the Bosun didn’t welcome new Slayers to Ramsgate.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause certain sounds not to play on islands.
  • Fixed a bug on Nintendo Switch where purchases sometimes didn’t appear until after reloading the game.
  • Minor art fixes on the Blaze Escalation island chain.
  • Fixed a bug where inbox messages that shouldn’t be deletable could be.
  • Fixed a bug where party members got left behind in Ramsgate if they were loading in when the leader departed.
  • Fixed a number of spots where players got stuck.
  • Fixed a bug where changing your motion blur amount would not apply until restarting Dauntless or re-entering Ramsgate.
  • Fixed a bug that caused grass to suddenly pop into existence.

Yep. this Dauntless update 1.30 June 11 patch is one big title update! Once we get wind of the next content drop we’ll let our readers know.

CENTURION

(Changes that first were shown in the original Testing Grounds are in regular text – while changes made since Testing Grounds are in italics for quick discoverability.)

Centurion has suffered from some problems in his fight kit – his offense never forces a reaction from the opponent in 1v1 scenarios and is not much help in group fight scenarios other than in an extremely powerful ability to gank through inconsistent rules when it comes to revenge-armor and binding. These aspects mean that Centurion is basically forced to turtle in 1v1s until a Parry allows the cutscene, and in 4v4 gank into the cutscene. This is very limiting for the Centurion, and frustrating for the opponent.

Here, we’ve made a number of adjustments based on the player feedback to the Testing Grounds to address the need for the Centurion to be able to initiate and sustain offense while removing the possibility of flowing into a lengthy cutscene, and also reducing the situations in which he would be able to bind his opponents into certain death. We believe that these changes will do exactly that! (For more information please consult our dedicated blogpost).

Centurion – The Changes

We addressed the Problems that were called out in the Testing Grounds with the following:

  • Roll away from Jab – with some minor timing changes, opponents are now unable to roll away without risking a GB catching them (even after a Light)
  • Light Jab annoyance – we’ve removed the Stun property from the Jab
  • Wallsplat doesn’t always guarantee Charged Heavy – now in this scenario Centurion should always be able to hit the Charged Heavy
  • Lion’s Roar (GB>L>L>L) and Haymaker bugs – fixed

Charged Heavy Opener

  • Increased maximum charged strike to 30 damage (from 25)
  • Charge portion is now between 300ms to 566ms (from 200ms to 600ms)

  • Maximum Jab now moves further forward

  • Increased forward movement by 1m

  • Each hit can now be Target Swapped

  • Increased 3rd Chained Light Attacks to 18 damage (from 12)
  • Increased Forward Movement of Light Opener is now 1.5m (from 1m)
  • Branchings to the next Light or Heavy Attack from any Light Attack are now delayed 100ms later
  • [Bug Fix] Out of Lock attacks should now have the same recovery timings

Parry Counter (Knee)

  • A new link allows a guaranteed 2nd Light in chains

  • Increased forward movement to 5m (from 4.25m)

IMPROVEMENTS

GENERAL

Removal of Revenge Lock

We have removed or greatly diminished the Revenge Lock for moves that force a specific animation when they land.

Developer Comments: Moves that force your opponent into a specific animation when they land an attack stopped you from activating Revenge. This leads to multiple issues, including a lack of responsiveness on activating Revenge and a lack of comprehension as to why Revenge didn’t activate. To curb this issue, we’ve removed all forms of Revenge Lock, with the exception of some attacks, where the Revenge Lock window has been greatly diminished to ensure that activating Revenge is more responsive.

As a rule, players can now activate Revenge from moves that force a specific animation as soon as the damage (Health Pool damage, Stamina damage, or both) has been applied.

Here are the Heroes and moves affected by this change:

  • Aramusha (Ring the Bell)
  • Black Prior (Fixed issue with Bulwark Counter)
  • Gladiator (Skewer, Punches during Skewer, Fuscina Ictus (“Toe Stab”), and fixed issue with Throws, including throws from Skewer, generating Revenge)
  • Highlander (Caber Toss)
  • Hitokiri (Rei Kick)
  • Jiang Jun (Dou Shi’s Choke)
  • Jormungandr (Heavy Finishers, Jotunn Grudge, Jotunn Surge, Jotunn Farewell, Jotunn Gift)
  • Lawbringer (Long Arm)
  • Nuxia (Glass Waltz, Jade Ballet)
  • Orochi (Hurricane Blast)
  • Peacekeeper (After 3rd Bleed Stab)
  • Raider (Knee hit after Stampede Charge)
  • Shaman (After the bite during Predator’s Mercy)
  • Shaolin (Sun Kick, Sun Kick Sweep)
  • Shinobi (Forward Double Kick, Side Double Dodge Kick, Sickle Rain (initial hit), 3rd hit of Sickle Rain Stabs, Slide Tackle, Front Roll Kick, Teleport Kick)
  • Shugoki (After the hit during Demon’s Embrace, Headbutt)
  • Tiandi (Palm Strike, Dragon Kick)
  • Valkyrie (Shoulder Pin, Spear Sweep)

FIGHTERS

Fight Adjustments

Jormungandr

  • [Adjustment] Uninterruptible Stance:
    • Top Heavy Opener now has Uninterruptible Stance starting at 600ms (from 400ms)
    • Side Heavy Openers now have Uninterruptible Stance starting at 500ms (from 400ms)
    • Serpent Smite (Dodge Forward Heavy) now has Uninterruptible Stance starting at 700ms (from 100ms)

Developer Comments: Early activation of Uninterruptible Stance has been identified as frustrating by players. As with our standardization on Guard Break Vulnerability timings of Heavy Attacks in a previous patch, with this patch we look to explore minimum timings for Uninterruptible Stance on Opener Attacks. In Jormungandr’s case, we think it is most interesting to have Uninterruptible Stance appear 100ms after the Feint timing of the Heavy Openers – this removes the “Heavy on Red” possibility.

  • [Adjustment] Stamina Damage
    • Decreased Jotunn Gift (GB Melee) to 20 stamina damage (from 40)
    • Decreased Jotunn Surge (Down+Melee Starter) to 30 stamina damage (from 35)
    • Decreased Jotunn Farewell (Melee Finisher) to 30 stamina damage (from 45)
    • Decreased Jotunn Gift, Jotunn Surge, Jotunn Farewell, and Jotunn Grudge (Parry Melee) stamina regeneration pause to 1.8s (from 2.5s)

Developer Comments: Reducing the stamina damage and regeneration pause should reduce the perceived frustration of fighting against the Jormungandr.

  • [Adjustment] Finishers
    • Light Openers now chain to the 2nd Light Attack starting at 266ms (from 200ms)
    • Jotunn Surge (Down+Melee Starter) now chains to the finishers starting at 500ms (from 400ms)

Developer Comments: The timing changes here now mean that it’s easier for the opponent to parry the light finisher.

    • Jotunn Farewell (Melee Finisher) Hit recovery is now 633ms (from 600ms)
    • Light Finisher Hit recovery is now 833ms (from 800ms)
    • Light Finisher Block recovery is now 733ms (from 700ms)
    • Light Finisher Knockback is slightly less far (to ensure GB afterward works)

Developer Comments: These timing changes mean that after a Light Finisher, or Jotunn Farewell (Melee Finisher), the Jormungandr is now frame disadvantaged by 33ms. This means the opponent can perform a Light Opener, and this will stuff any Light Opener or Jotunn Surge from the Jormungandr. We expect that the changes made here will allow opponents to no longer feel frustrated that they cannot deal with Jormungandr’s “spam”.

  • [Adjustment] Feint -> GB
    • Heavy Opener’s recovery branching to Heavy Finisher is now at 200ms (from 300ms)

Developer Comments: This allows the Jormungandr to Feint -> Guard Break from the Heavy Finisher and have it properly connect.

Hitokiri

  • [Adjustment] Heavy Opener
    • Uncharged Heavy Opener no longer has Uninterruptible Stance

Developer Comments: Early activation of Uninterruptible Stance has been identified as frustrating by players (and lead to the famous “Heby on Red” memes). As with our standardization on Guard Break Vulnerability timings of Heavy Attacks in a previous patch, with this patch we look to explore minimum timings for Uninterruptible Stance on Opener Attacks. In Hitokiri’s case, we think it is most interesting to have Uninterruptible Stance appear only on fully charged attacks, rather than the uncharged versions.

  • [Adjustment] Sweep
    • Uninterruptible Stance now starts at 1000ms (from 800ms)

Developer Comments: Players should now be able to Light to stuff a Hitokiri out of a Sweep attempt.

  • [Adjustment] Senbonzakura
    • Is now considered a Top Unblockable Attack (and is therefore Parryable)

Developer Comments: Frustrating scenarios with this Feat include when you get killed by it while you were in Parry Stun from Parrying a different attacker. Now, Parrying that first attack with let you Auto-Parry this. Similarly, a well-timed Revenge Activation will now knockdown an incoming Senbonzakura.

  • [Adjustment] Light Finishers
    • Light Finishers are no longer Enhanced, and so are interrupted on Block
    • Light Openers now chain to the next attack starting at 200ms (from 100ms)
    • Heavy Openers and Infinite Heavies now chain to the next attack starting at 366ms (from 300ms)

Developer Comments: The timing changes here now mean that it’s possible for the opponent to dodge the light finisher. Combined with the removal of the Enhanced property, we expect to see fewer complaints of Hitokiri “light spam”.

Shugoki

  • [Adjustment] Light Attack
    • Uninterruptible Stance now starts at 300ms (from 200ms)
  • [Adjustment] Heavy Opener
    • Now gains Uninterruptible Stance no earlier than 433ms when launching a strike (from 400ms)
    • Is no longer Guard Break Immune during the Charge portion

Developer Comments: Early activation of Uninterruptible Stance has been identified as frustrating by players. As with our standardization on Guard Break Vulnerability timings of Heavy Attacks in a previous patch, with this patch we look to explore minimum timings for Uninterruptible Stance on Opener Attacks. These later timings should make it less easy for Shugoki to make successful trades.

Jiang Jun

  • [Adjustment] Health Pool
    • Decreased Health Pool to 140 (from 145)

Developer Comments: This reduces the maximum base Health Pool for any hero to 140.

Lawbringer

  • [Adjustment] Health Pool
    • Decreased Health Pool to 140 (from 150)
  • [Adjustment] Impale
    • Impale attack now follows the same rules for binding an opponent on hit as other attacks

Developer Comments: This reduces the maximum base Health Pool for any hero to 140.

Nuxia

  • [Adjustment] Deadly Duet
    • Now increases damage dealt by 20% (from 15%)

Developer Comments: We expect this to help Nuxia become more threatening when she’s in 1-on-1 situations.

  • [Adjustment] Infection
    • Now causes a Light Hit Reaction when Cast (previously caused no hit reaction).
    • Now lasts 10 seconds for 10 possible ticks of damage (from 6.9 seconds for 6 ticks)
    • Now deals 10 damages per second (from 5 for the first tick, and +3 for each incremental ticks)
    • Decreased Cooldown to 120 seconds (from 180)
    • Decreased Radius to 5m (from 6m)
    • Visual feedback improved

Developer Comments: We expect this feat to do a much better job of forcing opponents apart. The improved damage and length should threaten opponents and will definitely expect to see this effect more often in matches going forward. Should synergize well with Deadly Duet.

  • [Adjustment] Adjusted the Bots so that they’re not so defensively powerful. They should now parry less frequently and get hit by more attacks especially if the attack is fast.

Developer Comments: One of the main criticisms of the Bots are their extreme propensity towards blocking or parrying the 2nd-or-later attack thrown at them. In practice, this means that you cannot sustain offense against this kind of Bot behaviour, and you are forced to stop attacking and counterattack instead. We would prefer that players can throw the same kind of attacks against Bots that are useful against real human players, and this change should allow for that now.

MAP

Sanctuary Bridge

General

  • [Adjustment] A ladder access has been added at the overpass bridges leading into each Capture Zone
  • [Adjustment] Some ledges have been closed off in various areas

Capture Zone A

  • [Adjustment] The central brasero pedestal has been changed from square-shaped to cylindrical at Capture Zone A. It has also been lowered deeper into the ground
  • [Adjustment] The drop down at Capture Zone A has been improved for better response to drop input.

Capture Zone C

  • [Adjustment] The wooden roof awning near the Belltower at Capture Zone C has been removed
  • [Adjustment] Clusters of debris have been removed from the interior portion at Capture Zone C
  • [Adjustment] The cart that served as a double drop under Capture Zone C has been replaced with a pile of debris for a single drop input.

Developer Comments: We added a ladder for each overpass bridge because we felt that Players trying to take back their “Home Team” Capture Zone weren’t given enough options to approach. This will also allow Players to take the Central Lane path and make a choice to either go up to their respective Capture Zone or continue to the Lane, without committing to one or the other. The new changes to the bracero at Capture Zone A, allow for better navigation and weapon tracking when fighting around it. Various Quality of life changes throughout the map serve for better fight-spaces and navigation comfort.

BREACH

  • [Adjustment] Guardian Boost visual effect, that was placed on the Map near the Guardian, has been improved

Developer Comments: We previously had a glowing visual effect on the Guardian’s altar that corresponded to the Guardian Boost (Shield/Sword/Boots). After the recent changes to the Guardian, these elements no longer matched with the new Guardian rewards. Keeping a visual effect was still deemed important to have in that area, when Players glance into his chamber to see if he spawned.

USER INTERFACE

  • [Adjustment] The “EVENT” playlist on the Multiplayer Map now has a timer that counts down to when the Event will end

  • [Adjustment] The delay while watching a LIVE match have been reduced from 10-15 seconds to 5-7 seconds (depending of your network conditions)
