PS5 Godfall Gameplay Gives Us a Peek at Next-Gen Visuals

In case you didn’t catch it, the first official PS5 game was announced at last December’s The Game Awards with Counterplay Games’ (Gearbox Software is publishing) Godfall. Well, thanks to a leak, we now have our first PS5 Godfall gameplay look — which makes it our first look at next-gen gameplay!

Reddit user YeaQuarterDongIng has posted a brief six-second Godfall gameplay video which he obtained from an unreleased trailer! Check it out below.

Yeah, that’s not a lot, and being honest, this might not be the best game to showcase the PS5’s capabilities. For those unaware, Godfall is an action RPG, and will offer drop-in, drop-out co-op mode. It’s been described as a “looter slasher,” which borrows heavily from the looter shooter gameplay popularized by games like Destiny and more.

Godfall has no release date just yet, but given it’s been pegged as a “late 2020” title, chances are it’ll be out when the PS5 launches this holiday.

Sony Releases New PS4 Sizzle Reel “The Best Place to Play” Spotlighting Exclusives

While the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One might be, for all intents and purposes, the same in raw power, the major advantage PS4 has over its competition are the exclusive games it has thanks to third-party deals, and of course, the company’s first-party efforts.

In case you need a reminder of that, Sony has released a new PS4 sizzle reel that puts the spotlight on some of the upcoming — and current — PS4 exclusives. You’ll see The Last of Us: Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding and lots more!

This Sony’s reminder that while we’re poised to finally welcome next-gen gaming with the PS5, the PS4 still has a lot of gas left in the tank.

Friday the 13th The Game Update 1.36 Slashes Out, Brings Fixes

Developer IllFonic has released a new Friday the 13th: The Game patch and it’s live now! Console players will see this as Friday the 13th The Game update 1.36, and it brings a load of changes to the asymmetrical horror multiplayer game.

Friday the 13th The Game update 11.36 patch notes:

  • FIXED: An issue causing Environmental Kills to record a kill, but leave the counselor in game, creating stuck lobbies and excessive kill counts.
  • FIXED: An issue with the drawer upstairs on Pinehurst that would cause the counselor to become stuck if interacted with.
  • FIXED: A problem with super lazy bots on Jarvis House Offline. They are now motivated and will move about as normal.
  • FIXED: An issue that would render a door unusable if two counselors interacted with the door/barricade at the same time.
  • FIXED: Various game crash issues.
  • FIXED: Various car interaction fixes, specifically counselors interacting with the car (fixing, starting, etc).
  • FIXED: Various counselor stuck spots have been resolved.
  • OTHER: Private Matches now include control over more of the in game settings.
    • The modifier for “Ability Unlock/Recharge Rate” for Jason is currently only Recharge Rate. The Ability Unlock speed aspect of this will be implemented at a later date.
    • These controls allow players to tweak private match settings to many varying degrees and some unexpected behavior can be seen depending on the variables selected. While players should expect some instability when altering these settings, the community can also report any unexpected behavior to JasonKillsBugs.com

Dying Light 2 Release Date Delayed

Are you looking forward to Techland’s Dying Light 2? Well, if you are, you’re going to have to wait a whole lot longer. While the zombie action sequel didn’t have a specific release date other than “Spring 2020,” Techland has announced that even that is not definite anymore. Check out the letter below why Techland issued a Dying Light 2 release date delayed note to their fans.

To our dedicated Community,

It was a busy year for us as we continued working on our biggest project to date. We know you are awating the game eagerly, and we want to deliver exactly what we promised.

We were initially aiming for a Spring 2020 release with Dying Light 2, but unfortunately we need more development time to fulfill our vision. We will have more details to share in the coming months, and will get back to you as soon as we have more information. We apologize for this unwelcome news. Our priority is to deliver an experience that lives up to our own high standards and to the expectations of you, our fans.

This is definitely a bummer, but at least it’s getting more love and polish, right? People will forget the delays over time but a bad game is forever as they say. Also, given how much love and support Techland has given the first game, I suspect fans will be OK with this news.

While Dying Light 2 has bee delayed, we have oodles of gameplay footage of it already. We also know that the map will be four times bigger than the first one, and we even know how long the game will be.

Mortal Kombat Animated Feature “Scorpion’s Revenge” Announced

With a new Mortal Kombat movie set to hit theaters next year, it seems that aside from Mortal Kombat 11, fans can look forward to something new to the franchise later this year with a new Mortal Kombat animated feature.

Titled, “Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge,” and has cast Joel McHale (Community) as the voice of Johnny Cage, and Jennifer Carpenter (Exorcism of Emily Rose) as the voice of Sony Blade. The animated film is set to debut someime in the first half of 2020.

NetherRealm Studios boss Ed Boon has shared what seems to be the animated film’s official logo.

While no official plot synopsis has been shared or even any art/screenshots, it’s bound to be better than 1996’s Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm (yes, it was bad). Let’s hope it really is brutal and won’t shy away from violence and getting an M (for mature) rating.

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary PC Flight Test Begins in February

Select Halo insiders will be able to participate in the first Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary PC Flight Test that is set to begin next month in February.

The first Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary PC Test will focus on gathering feedback around gameplay, network connections, and other aspects of the game. If selected, users will have access to the following components:

  • Single Player and Cooperative Campaign
  • Multiplayer
  • Customization
  • Progression

In addition, users will also get access to a number of Halo: Reach fixes, including a new crouch behavior that allows players to crouch while moving. As noted by the official blog, this feature will support both mouse and keyboard, and gamepad players.

Hopefully, it won’t be long after the flight test that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary becomes available for all PC owners. Last month we saw the release of Halo: Reach on PC, which did some really impressive numbers as the title made it to the top seller on Steam Charts.  As of now, Halo: Reach is the only available Halo title for PC with the rest coming out later. You can purchase Halo: Reach on Steam for $10 or the whole Halo: The Master Chief Collection for $40. Alternatively, you could also purchase the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to gain access to these Halo titles, amongst other games.

Lawsuit Filed by Ubisoft Against Rainbow Six Siege DDoS Attackers

It’s never fun when an online game goes offline, right? It’s made even more frustrating when this server outage is done on purpose by individuals who have nothing else better to do. Well, it seems Ubisoft is going on the offensive and has filed a lawsuit against Rainbow Six Siege DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attackers.

Ubisoft has filed a lawsuit against the owners of a website specializing in DDoS attacks for games. The lawsuit was filed in a California court, and has named multiple people. The DDoS website is called SNG.ONE, and actually sells subscriptions ranging up to $299 for “lifetime” access to the server, with monthly subscriptions ranging for $30. Other potential targets named include FIFA 20, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

According to Ubisoft, site owners are fully aware of what they’re doing and have even wernt as far as to taunt Ubisoft for the harm it has caused to games like Rainbow Six Siege. You can check out the lawsuit filing below.

As one might imagine, Ubisoft has requested the court to shut the website down, and also award damages and fees.

Speaking of Rainbow Six Siege servers going down, that exact thing happened yesterday (along with The Division 2), though it doesn’t seem to be caused by a DDoS attack.

As someone who loves playing online games, I don’t understand the logic on why anyone would want to do this and just spoil people’s fun. Is it for attention? Money? Whatever the case is, it doesn’t justify inconveniencing other people and depriving them of their game time, no?

New Guilty Gear Strive Trailer Features Faust

A new Guilty Gear Strive trailer has been released, and it features franchise favorite Faust back in the spotlight. Once again, Arc System Works’ brilliant animation is on full display with special moves. combos and more.

At the tail end of the video, Arc System Works announced that a playable demo of Guilty Gear Strive will be on hand at the EVO Champion Series in Japan this January 24-25, and at the JAEPO event in Japan on February 8.

For those who won’t be able to attend those, new trailers are also scheduled to drop at the Brussles Challenge in Belgium this coming March 20-22, and at the Final Round event in Atlanta, which takes place on March 20-22 as well. Chances are, we’ll be getting new character reveals and such at events, so make sure to keep an eye out.

Guilty Gear Strive is set for release this Q4 2020 on the PS4.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne Roadmap Update Revealed

Those playing Monster Hunter World Iceborne, there’s a lot more stuff coming your way soon! Capcom has revealed the Monster Hunter World Iceborne roadmap update, and there’s a load of stuff which includes new quests, content and more.

Also of note, while console players usually get content earlier than their PC counterpart, that won’t be the case starting April 2020. Capcom has confirmed that console and PC Monster Hunter World players will get “major” Iceborn content updates in sync.

PC players will receive their first content update in February, which will include the introduction of the Rajang, a new region to explore, and more. The Resident Evil crossover will also finally be available for PC players that month as well.

The second PC update will take place on March 12, and will feature the Stygian Zinogre. This will be part of a new Tundra Region area, which includes other new monsters to slay.

As for console gamers, from February through March, PS4 and Xbox One players will get new limited time event quests, two additional monsters in Iceborne, and more.

From February through March, console players receive new limited time event quests that increase the odds of encountering gold crown monsters, decorations, and Great Spiritvein Gems while maximizing their rank. A subsequent major title update brings two additional variant monsters to Iceborne, which will be available for console players in March and in April for PC. Later in April marks the beginning of major content updates for both PC and console being released on the same schedule. New Arch-Tempered and Master Rank versions of existing monsters will be available at the same time for both PC and console players, followed by the return of a fan-favorite monster in May. More synced updates and additional monsters will be available in June and beyond, with details coming at a later date.

From January 23 through February 13, players can participate in the game’s second anniversary in Grand Appreciation Fest for Iceborne players, or for those who don’t own the expansion, the return of the Appreciation Fest will be available to all players in the Astera Gathering Hub.

Modern Warfare Next Patch Scheduled for Next Week

Remember when Infinity Ward said before that they’ll be more communicative with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare player base? Well, as it turns out, that’s true, though not by much. In the latest “Community Update,” the studio announced that they are planning to release the Modern Warfare next patch for this coming week.

Aside from that tidbit, the other info shared were stuff that we already know like Season 1 being extended a week (crossbow incoming), and 2XP.

For 2XP, it’s still live now and will be up until January 20. This applies to overall XP, and 2X Weapon XP as well.

Once we know more details regarding this upcoming Modern Warfare patch, we’ll be sure to let people know. We are expecting more custom loadouts to be part of it as Infinity Ward has mentioned it before. One thing we also want fixed is the Quick Play filter, though there’s no guarantee that will be part of this coming week’s patch.

Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 Stats Reset Happening, Multiple Battlepacks Being Awarded

While a lot of players are having issues connecting to both Battlefiedl 4 and Battlefield 1, it seems that’s not the only problem plaguing Battlefield players now. Multiple reports have surfaced now of players experiencing Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 stats reset bugs.

My bf1 progress got deleted. I need help! Is anyone else having this problem? I am kinda worried, since i’ve been playing for a long time and a full recovery would be almost impossible (Ps4, Europe)

Before anyone panics, this is almost assuredly a server issue, and once EA’s servers are sorted out, stats and player progression for both Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 should be back to normal.

There is one upside to this, though. It seems, players are being awarded random Battlepacks due to this bug!

Note that other EA-published games are having issues as well, with Apex Legends challenges from the on-going event not tracking.

It’s unknown at this time whether these Battlepacks or the rewards obtained by them will be pulled by EA once servers have been sorted, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they left them as is. I mean, Battlepacks reward cosmetic items only and as such, shouldn’t cause any gameplay-breaking changes.

Apex Legends Grand Soiree Event Challenges Issue Acknowledged by Respawn, Fix Incoming Next Week

Those playing Apex Legends and tackling the challenges in the newly released Grand Soiree Event, you might have noticed that these said challenges seem to be bugged, and aren’t being tracked. Thankfully, Respawn is aware of this Apex Legends Grand Soiree Event challenges issue.

Unfortunately though, the actual server side patch to fix this won’t be coming until next week. Here’s the message straight from EA:

PS4 CHALLENGES ISSUES

Event Challenges are still active and your overall event progress is still being tracked even though you’re not seeing it. Event Challenges can still be viewed by checking the right side of your map screen while in a match.

UPCOMING FIX

We have a server patch planned to go live Wednesday morning that will fix Event and Daily/ Weekly challenges. For the affected players, your progress and rewards you’ve earned through the Event Challenges will be rewarded retroactively.

Note that Event Challenges can be viewed by checking the right side of the map screen while players are in a match. Of course, completing said challenges are bugged, so don’t expect any rewards for doing those. That said, Respawn has already announced that players will be retroactively awarded the rewards once challenges are complete, so play away!

This is bad timing as the Apex Legends third-person mode just became available today. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the changes made this past Tuesday in the official patch notes.

Battlefield 4 & Battlefield 1 Stuck at Connecting Bug Happening to Players

Those playing Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 and can’t connect to any matches, you’re not alone! It seems a Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 stuck at connecting bug is happening to players across all platforms as we speak.

Multiple people on the Battlefield 1 subreddit have posted complaints that they can’t join matches since they’re stuck at the loading screen or connecting match screen.

For now, the official EA Support social media account has not made any mention of the Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 issues, but we’ve emailed them about this just in case, and will update the post if and when we get a response.

So far, so good, the latest Battlefield  game — Battlefield V — doesn’t seem to be affected, so there’s at least that.

Apex Legends Third Person Mode Now Live

Announced as part of the Grand Soiree Event which went live earlier this week, you can now play Apex Legends in third-person mode! The Apex Legends third person mode is available for just a limited time, running from today until January 20.

As one can see from the short gameplay clip above, Apex Legends playable in third-person is a jarring experience for some, with some people stating that they got sick from playing it this way.

Aside from the Apex Legends third person mode, the other limited time modes coming are listed below:

1/18 to 1/19 – THIRD-PERSON MODE

  • A classic out-of-body experience.

1/20 to 1/21 – ALWAYS BE CLOSING

  • Keep on the move, avoiding big damage from a ring that won’t slow down.

1/22 to 1/23 – ARMED AND DANGEROUS ON WORLD’S EDGE

  • Shotguns and Sniper Rifles with limited armor.

1/24 to 1/25 – NIGHT GAME ON KINGS CANYON

  • Play on Kings Canyon at Night.

1/26 to 1/28 – DUMMIES BIG DAY

  • This game ain’t gonna test itself.

The Division 2 Down, Ubisoft Working to Resolve Issue (Update)

Update: Ubisoft has announced that PC and PS4 players should be able to connect now, while Xbox One issues are actively investigated. In short, The Division 2 down time should be over for two platforms.

If you’re trying to log in to Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 but can’t, don’t fret, it’s not you, but it’s Ubisoft. As of the momtent, The Division 2 down on all platforms, and thankfully, Ubisoft is aware of it.

In a post on the publisher’s official forums, they’ve stated that they are aware players are having issues connecting to the game on all platforms.

We’re aware of an issue currently affecting connectivity with our games and ability to access Cloud Save data on Uplay PC. We are working towards resolving this. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience.

Update (15:56 UTC): We are still working to resolve the issue. Thank you again for your patience.

Rainbow Six Siege Down on All Platforms, Ubisoft Investigating (Update)

Update: Ubisoft has announced that PC and PS4 players should be able to connect now, while Xbox One issues are actively investigated. In short, Rainbow Six Siege down time should be over for two platforms.

For those hoping to start their Saturday off with some Rainbow Six Siege, you’ll be saddened to know that some unexpected Rainbow Six Siege down time is currently happening on all platforms as Ubisoft has confirmed issues with the title.

As of now, a majority of reports are coming in from users on the Xbox One version of Rainbow Six Siege, however, Ubisoft has stated that they are currently experiencing some network related issues across all platforms and multiple titles.

At this time there doesn’t appear to be any kind of user-end fix, so for the meantime, for those that are experiencing issues, we will just have to wait until Ubisoft resolves the problem. We will be sure to update this post once the servers are back up.

Destiny 2 Wish Ender Bug Causes It to Do More Damage After Hotfix

Yesteday, Bungie released a Destiny 2 hotfix that included a fix to the Destiny 2 Wish Ender bug that made it deal more damage than it should. Well, it seems, instead of fixing it, it hase made the bow deal even more damage!

Reddit user NVIAMD posted that by penetrating a non-player model (ie: a tree), the Wish Ender could deal 12x more damage! Here’s an image of it with proof of the damage values being out of sorts.

The poster adds that in very rare occasions, a Festival of the Lost mask/auras/emotes that summon an object will cause this glitch to work. Note that penetrating player models won’t cause this glitch to work. For now, Bungie has not mentioned anything about this, but we suspect that another hotfix will be deployed soon, or the weapon itself will be disabled temporarily.

Remember those Left 4 Dead 3 rumors that cropped up? There was even a well made fake trailer that kinda made some people believe that a new Left 4 Dead game is indeed incoming. Well, we’re here to be the bearer of bad news. Not only is Left 4 Dead 3 not coming, but anything Left 4 Dead-related is not happening too!

This was confirmed by Left 4 Dead publisher and franchise rights holder Valve, in a new statement.

We’ve seen rumors to this effect for the last couple of months,” Valve said in a statement. “We did briefly explore some Left 4 Dead next gen opportunities a few years ago. But we are absolutely not working on anything L4D related now, and haven’t for years.

It’s clear some people are having fun creating misinformation to spin up the community and other outlets. Unfortunately, for now a new L4D game is not something we’re working on.

Of course, there is the super slim chance that this is a ruse by the company just so when they do reveal Left 4 Dead 3, it’ll be a lot more dramatic. But then again, this is an emphatic “no,” which dashes anyone’s hopes that a new Left 4 Dead is coming soon.

Perhaps the best thing fans can hope for now right are franchise crossovers like the one we saw last year for Dying Light.
