In-Game Apex Legends Axe Is Priced at $35 and Can Only Be Obtained by First Spending Over $150

Just a few days ago, Respawn Entertainment launched the Iron Crown Collection event in Apex Legends that also included Solos mode, and a bunch of new items to obtain. While all the items included in the Iron Crown Collection are purely cosmetic, the most rare item in the lot, which is an Apex Legends Axe for Bloodhound, can only be obtained by spending a TON of money!

As you can see below, Apex Legends’ Iron Crown Collection has 24 items in total that are either Rare or Legendary that players can obtain. Now, if you want to get the axe called Raven’s Bite, you’ll need to first unlock every item in the entire collection . That doesn’t sound bad, right? Well, unfortunately, you can’t earn all the items in the Iron Crown Collection just by playing the game. Currently, playing through Apex Legends’ challenges will net you a new in-game currency called Crowns, which will then let you obtain two loot boxes that contain two items from the list of 24.

As for the rest of the items, you have to spend to get ’em. They’re currently priced at 700 Apex Coins per pack, which is around $7 in real-world money each. $7 multiplied by 22 is $154. Once you’ve obtained all the items in the Iron Crown Collection, you’ll then be able to have the right to purchase this Heirloom axe for a mere 3500 Apex Coins or around $35 in real-world currency!

If you go this route, you’ll have spent a total of $189 ($154 + $35) just to obtain this Heirloom item (Heirloom is Apx Legends’ most rare classification tier). However, there is a way to buy it cheaper. Buy the Apex Coins in bulk, so the exchange rate won’t be 1:1 (USD to Apex Coin).

If you do the math, you can buy the $99.99 Apex Coins pack which has 11,500 Coins, and then get the $59.99 Apex Coins pack which contains 6,700 Coins. Doing this, you can buy the 22 items in the Iron Crown Collection, and then you’ll just need to spend $10 to get the Heirloom axe since you’ll have a large sum of Apex Coins leftover! Doing this will total $170, which means you’ll be saving $19 in total!

Now, while this is a super rare item, I don’t think it’s worth $189 or $170 in real world money. I mean, it is a virtual, cosmetic-only item, after all, no? But I’ll leave that up to you to decide.

Anthem Lead Producer Departs BioWare

After a rather lackluster first few months of being out, one of Anthem’s Lead Producers is saying good bye not only to the game, but to BioWare itself. Anthem Lead Producer Ben Irving, posted the announcement over on Twitter, where he shares that he’s starting a new chapter in his life at another gaming company.

After 8 amazing years at BioWare I have made the decision to move on and have accepted an exciting opportunity at another gaming company. Since the first time I played Baldurs Gate many many years ago, BioWare was the dream place I always wanted to work.

(2/3) I will forever be grateful to all the people who gave me the chance to work on great products with amazing people. I believe Anthem has a bright future – there is a great team working on it and I look forward to following its progress (and playing it!) from the sidelines.

(3/3) I have really enjoyed interacting with the Anthem community – Streams, Twitter and Reddit. Through the good times and the tough times. You all are in great hands with

and

(and have been for some time now). I wish nothing but the best for all of you. Ben.

So far, it’s unknown which gaming company Irving is transferring to. Where he lands, we wish him nothing but the best.

As for Anthem, check out the new list of items available in the in-game store. You should also check out the changes in the Cataclysm event in its second week.

Report: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Microtransactions to Be More “Consumer Friendly,” Not Going Away

While Activision hasn’t mentioned anything about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare microtransactions, you can bet it’s coming sooner or later. If you’ve been burned by how Treyarch handled microtransctions in Black Ops 4, it seems things will be changing for the better in Modern Warfare.

Over on Twitter, reliable Call of Duty leaker TheGamingRevolution, tweeted that according to his sources, Modern Warfare microtranscations will be more consumer friendly, but it won’t be going away (as expected).

https://twitter.com/TheGamingRevoYT/status/1162145794641879040?s=20

Quote from one of my sources regarding Modern Warfare’s microtransactions: “Trust me. We are changing the way MTX works to be more consumer friendly, but MTX are a part of the business and won’t go away.”

“The decision to add percentages to loot gained from toolboxes wasn’t just a sole decision made by Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo. Xbox, Sony and Nintendo all had a meeting with all big triple AAA studios. Of course we all want more money, but all of the studios agreed of the bat MTX

are too hefty. Without second thought we signed the agreement to these new terms. If all of the studios would’ve disagreed both the platform owners and publishers would be out of a lot of money. If all of the studios said no, it would’ve never went through.

It was a mutual decision & isn’t something forced upon us.”

*lootboxes

Note that this isn’t an official statement from Activision or Infinity Ward, so take it with a grain of salt. Then again, TGR has been spot-on his Modern Warfare leaks so far, and I don’t see this one being any different.

Speaking of Modern Warfare microtransactions, we already know that Operators will have their own skins, executions and more, which leads us to believe that this is what Activision will be doing in terms of post-launch purchases. I’m honestly OK with this rather than following Black Ops 4’s slightly pay-to-win scenario.

Chances are, we’ll see Modern Warfare’s microtransctions surface once the game’s already out, which has been par for the course for the Call of Duty franchise in recent years. Let’s hope Infinity Ward can somehow make the MTX in Modern Warfare a lot easier to take.

Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn Day 2019 Celebrated by Community

Today the Destiny community is celebrating Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn Day 2019. Gjallarhorn Day is a celebration of the day when, in Destiny 1, the Exotic vendor Xur showed up and sold the infamous exotic rocket launcher, Gjallarhorn, on August 14, 2015. Interestingly this was the second time that Xur sold the Gjallarhorn, with the first time being two weeks after Destiny 1 launched, but no one cared about the weapon.

happy-gjallarhorn-day-2019

Gjallarhorn Day takes place on the Friday closest to August 14 every year, and today is that day for 2019. Much like the original Gjallarhorn Day, the mods of the Destiny Subreddit choose this day to lighten the rules and take some time off for 24 hours, allowing the community to have some fun and remember what the Subreddit was like on the very first Gjallarhorn Day. On that day in 2015 the mods changed the background of the Destiny Subreddit to a gif of raining Gjallarhorns and literally stopped being mods at all for the entire day.

Here are a list of some of the best posts from the Subreddit from the original Gjallarhorn Day.

  • At the time Trials of Osiris was working, just about, in Destiny 1. The weekly post took a hit on Gjallarhorn Day though, mostly because the mods stopped working altogether
  • One player posted a picture of their dog, and so far they’ve received 875 upvotes
  • The most wholesome story from Gjallarhorn was of a father texting his son instructions for ow to purchase Gjallarhorn for both of them to use later in the game. The son was very touched by the connection this allowed them to share
  • Various people shaved themselves for upvotes on Gjallarhorn Day. One person shaved their head, another their legs, and someone else shaved their friend’s eyebrows
  • One player congratulated Destiny’s Community Manager, DeeJ, on finally being able to purchase a Gjallarhorn. Like many players he missed out on purchasing the weapon 2 weeks after Destiny 1 launched
  • As another indicator of how much work the mods were doing, this cat picture got loads of upvotes on the day

Eventually however, the mods came to their senses and started to regain control of the Subreddit. They made this post as a warning that anyone who continued to mess around would be subject to the rules once again, but they also offered the post’s comments as a place to continue to make jokes for the foreseeable future.

Gjallarhorn Day is a day created entirely by the Destiny community. Bungie’s only part in it was allowing Xur to sell Gjallarhorn once again, and even that was just because the upcoming expansion, The Taken King, would make all year 1 weapons irrelevant 30 days later. This day is a true tribute to how creative the gaming community can be over the smallest events.

Don’t forget to check what Xur is selling later today on MP1ST.

Anthem Store Update August 16, 2019 – Prospero Items List

The Anthem store update for August 16, 2019 is now live. The Featured store has been updated with brand new Materials, Wraps, and Armor Packs to customise your Javelins with. Check out the image of the store below, which will be live until Tuesday next week, and read on for more details about the items on sale.

Anthem-Store-Update-August-16-2019–Prospero-Items-List

Armor Packs

Aether Armor (Storm Javelin): 61,000 Coin or 850 Shards – This armor looks like it’s been ripped straight out of Destiny 2. The helmet in particular is really brilliant, but even the default colors on the armor seem to give it a Destiny feel.

Dark Grace Armor (Colossus Javelin): 61,000 Coin or 850 Shards – While this armor looks sleek, smooth, and a little battered, it also has a very Victorian diving suit feel to it. Anyone who wants to use their Colossus to cosplay as a Big Daddy from BioShock should definitely purchase this armor pack.

Emote

Drums: 23,000 Coin or 475 Shards – This emote is a great way to annoy your fellow Freelancers while they wait for you to revive them.

Victory

Kawaii: 23,000 Coin or 475 Shards – A very obnoxious Victory that will set you apart from others.

Graphic

Death Rattle: 40,000 Coin or 650 Shards – A good-looking graphic that allows you to highlight your limbs while keeping the core of your Javelin as one stable color.

Material

Shatter Polish (Painted): 12,000 Coin or 300 Shards – This material is a great one to use if you want your Javelin to look like it’s been through several wars, without being repaired in-between.

That’s all for today’s reset of the Anthem store. The best items on here are definitely the armor packs, but you might feel differently if you’ve already got some Javelin looks that you’re super happy with. Check out what the store looked like earlier this week to see what you missed out on, and give you a push to buy something today.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts Release Date Set for November 22, New Trailer Snipes Out

In a press release, CI Games has announced that the  latest game in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series titled Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts now has a set release date along with a brand new trailer. The Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts release date is now marked for November 22 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC!

Check out this announcement trailer below.

At the core of all of this is the brand new contracts system. Scattered across each region are main contracts which task players with executing key targets in order to progress to new regions. While there are a total of 25 main contracts that comprise the core campaign narrative, each region acts as a sniping sandbox, densely-packed with side-objectives to complete and ambient tasks to uncover. With a focus on emergent combat encounters, no two deployments play out the same. This encourages players to tackle contracts multiple times as they earn funds to upgrade their gear in between contracts.

From an in-depth single-player campaign to a range of multiplayer options, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts features a wealth of different ways to play while keeping you on your toes with every single encounter. Wipe down your scope and throw on a jacket, because the harsh Siberian wilderness is set to challenge even the most seasoned on sniper.

This new trailer introduces us to one of the five regions present in the game. Called Black Gold, each territory is based on actual locations in Siberia. In Contracts, CI Games has new toys for players to use and new features for snipers as well. There’s the Dynamic Reticle System, pilotable Scout Drones, an Augmented Reality Mask and more.

Fallout 76 Raid Details for Vault 94 Show an Evolving Activity

Bethesda has revealed new details about the upcoming Fallout 76 raid activity in Vault 94. The raid will be an evolving activity that gives players new content to complete each week, keeping things fresh for the dedicated players who will run the raid multiple times a day just for fun.

vault-94-atrium

Vault 94, in Fallout 76 lore, opened just one year after the bombs fell. The inhabitants found a harsher wasteland than players do today, one that was highly toxic and filled with enemy factions. The residents are long gone, but the vault remains, and now players need to head inside to prevent a catastrophic event from causing some serious damage from deep within the facility. Vault 94 was originally tasked with restoring nature’s abundance in the wake of nuclear fallout, and this new raid is closely tied to that goal.

From August 20, 2019 PC players will be able to delve deep into Vault 94 and take on the new raid, offering the most challenging Fallout 76 experience to date. The raid is coming to consoles later, since Bethesda wants to stagger the release due to the new technology being used. Bethesda has said that while it’s possible to go it alone, if you’re strong enough, a group of level 50+ players is recommended to get through this activity. Vault 94 uses Bethesda’s new instancing technology, which prevents players who aren’t on your team from interrupting your experience.

A New Mission Every Week

Vault 94 will add a new mission each week after release for three weeks, after that these three missions will rotate every three weeks. Dead in the Water is the name of the first mission in Vault 94, with the second mission, Meltdown, and third mission, Washout, launching on August 27, 2019, and September 3, 2019 respectively. While one mission comes to an end Vault 94 will lock for three hours each week, allowing time for the game to prepare for the next one in rotation. Each mission will have three difficulty modes available: Novice, Standard, and Expert. Novice mode has no timer, while both Standard and Expert each have time limits for encounters. Running out of time, or the entire squad dying, will require the team to start over after a short break.

The higher the difficulty, the better the loot that is awarded for the raid.

Rewards

Players who complete runs in Vault 94 can earn XP, Caps, Improved Repair Kits, Crafting Materials, Weapons, Armor, and Plans. The best loot is reserved for both Standard and Expert modes. Plans include Vault 94 Armor sets, that can be crafted at Armor Workbenches, but they can’t be earned in Novice mode. Completions of Vault 94 on any mode award Vault 94 Steel, which is required to build Vault 94 Armor sets.

vault-94-armor-sets

Players can only earn rewards from Vault 94 once per mission, per day. This means that groups should only run the raid once a day at most if they want rewards, because even Vault Steel won’t be awarded on subsequent completions.

Vault 94 promises to be the most challenging activity in Fallout 76 to date, but one which will also award some of the best loot. For players farming high level enemies as their endgame in Fallout 76, this raid will be a welcome addition as something new to do and earn endgame loot from. The raid will be much easier to get a team together for with the new Fallout 76 LFG Hub.

Don’t forget to check out our article on this week’s Atomic Shop update, showcasing the Unstoppables bundle and a huge sale on many other items.

Borderlands 3 Download Size Revealed

If you’re planning on picking up Borderlands 3 via digital storefronts on consoles, we now know the Borderlands 3 download size for consoles! On the Xbox Store, it lists the Borderlands 3 download size as 39.98GB!

On the PlayStation Store, Sony lists the game as needing 75GB minimum save size. This could be accurate, considering titles in the past, such as The Division 2, would require double the space due to the downloading and installation process. The download itself could very well be half of that, but the system may need 75GB total to be able to perform the download and installation”

For PC gamers, unfortunately, pre-load isn’t allowed on the Epic Games Store, so we don’t now how big it is on that platform. But if past games are any indication, it should be roughly around the same ballpark as the console versions.

Set to be released next month on September 13, check out Borderlands 3 raw gameplay featuring FL4K the Beastmaster right here. PlayStation gamers, a free weekend is set to today, and you can even earn VIP Points by playing it.

DOOM Eternal Battlemode Overview Trailer Shows Off Core Mechanics

Bethesda Softworks has released a brand new trailer filled with DOOM Eternal Battlemode info. Battlemode is the brand new multiplayer game mode coming to the franchise with DOOM Eternal, pitting one player-controlled Slayer against two player-controlled demons, each with their own core components that work with each match’s mechanics. Check out the trailer below and read on for more details.

When DOOM Eternal launches on November 22, 2019, Battlemode will come with six playable maps, and five playable demons. Over the course of time new demons and maps will be added to the mode for free, as well as other features based on player-feedback from their experience with the mode. Bethesda has been keen to get the message across that they are building upon this mode to suit the way fans want to play it, and while they have a plan for what they’d like to release for it, they will adapt to what the community tells them.

The playable demons who will face off in pairs against one Slayer in each match are as follows.

Revenant

The Revenant is the most versatile demon in the roster. Using jetpacks players can traverse the map quickly, getting right on top of the Slayer. Shoulder-mounted rockets deliver consistent damage, and the special attack, a targeted rocket barrage, deals long-range damage, and lots of it.

Pain Elemental

This demon can fly over the map, making it easy to locate and keep track of the Slayer. Players can utilise the Pain Elemental’s targeted single shots, or charge them up for a burst attack. Flying puts the demon at a disadvantage, making it an easier target for the Slayer. But a rechargeable soul shield offsets this disadvantage by providing limited-time cover wherever the demon might be.

Mancubus

This is the biggest demon in the roster, with the biggest pool of health, but also the slowest. Heavy cannons and flamethrowers will make short work of the Slayer if players can back them into a corner. Slow mobility is made up for with a smoke bomb that obscures the Slayer’s view, allowing the Mancubus to hide and sneak up behind them for a lethal close-range attack.

Archvile

This demon’s abilities haven’t been revealed yet, but it will most likely be a close-combat demon that specialises in quick successive attacks on the Slayer.

Marauder

This demon’s abilities also haven’t been revealed yet, but it will probably be a heavy melee specialist that focusses on dealing big hits to the Slayer, whilst staying back and letting smaller enemies keep the Slayer at bay when not attacking.

Hazards

Every demon in Battlemode has the power to drop map hazards in addition to all of their own abilities. These hazards range from areas of damage that force the Slayer to move, to summoning various combinations of smaller demons to hunt down and attack the Slayer as they do in the core campaign. Players use a new system called the summoning wheel which makes it quick and easy to both select and drop hazards on the map.

The Slayer

In each match there will only be one Slayer against two demons, indicating how powerful this role is. Slayers have all weapons, mods, and equipment from the DOOM Eternal campaign at their disposal, making them extremely lethal. Slayers need to manage a lot more than player-controlled demons in Battlemode however.

In addition to hunting down the enemy, Slayers need to keep on top of their health, armor, and ammo by performing the correct type of finishers on smaller enemies. If a Slayer isn’t careful, they could find themselves without enough ammo to keep fighting, and quickly lose all of their health and ammo when caught looking for it. Enemy players have a rechargeable ability that blocks these resources for a short period of time, and when used correctly they can seriously harm a Slayer’s progress.

Should Slayers break line of sight with enemy demons for long enough, they’ll disappear from the map. This allows Slayers to move around undetected, laying traps for player-controlled demons, or simply lying in wait for them to walk past at just the right moment. Each arena also contains two portals at the furthest points from each other, which Slayers can use to teleport away from one area if things get too intense. However, demons can use this to their advantage by dropping hazards at portals if they suspect the Slayer will use one.

When the Slayer kills one demon, a 20 second respawn timer begins for them. If the Slayer doesn’t kill the second demon before this timer ends, the demon that was just defeated will respawn with half their health. As you can imagine, this adds an extra level of strategy to the match for both sides. Demons should work together to ensure they kill the Slayer as quickly as possible, but if one of them dies then the other should hide until the respawn timer ends. Slayers need to focus on whittling down the health of both demons so that they stand a chance of taking both down within 20 seconds of each other.

Progression

Between matches players choose abilities, upgrades, and even super weapons such as the BFG for Slayers, or the Baron of Hell for demons, to use in the next round. With some matches consisting of five rounds, one win can be the difference between total failure, and a comeback.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare New Footage and “Special Announcement” Set for Next Week at gamescom

Those looking forward to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare new footage, the wait won’t be long now. Today, Creator of The Game Awards and industry veteran Geoff Keighley announced that on gamescom opening night, Infinity Ward will be on hand to showcase new Modern Warfare footage!

Same as with almost every gaming event, expect a livestream of gamescom Opening Night, which will take place on August 19 at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET. Note that this doesn’t mean the Modern Warfare new footage will be shown at that time, but rather, the stream and event starts at that time.

Aside from the new Modern Warfare footage, a “special announcement” is also scheduled to take place during the event as well. Maybe it’s to let people know that the beta is starting early? One can hope.

What do you suppose this special announcement is? Will we see more multiplayer footage or will it be for the campaign portion this time, which is likely given Infinity Ward’s recent hints? Share your guesses in the comments below.

In other Modern Warfare news, we just posted some of the different execution variations available in the game, which you can watch right here.

No Man’s Sky Update 2.05 Patch Notes, Here’s the Second Title Update for the Day

While we just got a big No Man’s Sky update the other day, and a patch earlier today, it seems Hello Games isn’t done just yet! As there’s yet another new No Man’s Sky patch available for consoles right this moment! This No Man’s Sky update 2.05 once again introduces a bunch of game fixes and nothing else and clocks in at just 700MB on PS4. Check out the full No Man’s Sky update 2.05 patch notes below.

Bug fixes

  • Fix for crashes occurring in the Space Anomaly.
  • Fixed a number of issues causing some players to experience low framerate after visiting the Space Anomaly.
  • Fixed a rendering related crash.
  • Fixed an out of memory crash.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a crash when manipulating inventory in close proximity to a high number of players.
  • Fixed a crash affecting VR with supersampling enabled.
  • Fixed a situation where network connectivity issues could prevent players from speaking to NPCs aboard the Space Anomaly.
  • Fixed an issue where storage containers could not be accessed.
  • Fixed a crash affecting unsupported VR hardware.

Will we see update 2.06 tomorrow, then? Given that’s being tested on PC, that’s not an impossible thing to happen. The developers note in the post that the console versions (Xbox One And PS4) should be seeing a release as soon as they’re ready so chances are likely that we will get another update either today or early tomorrow.

Latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Twitch Prime Pack Is Recycled From Old Prime Packs

If you’re a Twitch Prime member, and you’re looking forward to some sweet Black Ops 4 Twitch Prime pack goodness, you’ll be sad to know that this month’s new offering is just recycle content from past Twitch Prime packs.

Here’s what’s being offered now:

Check the contents above. Got that? Good. Now, below are the Black Ops 4 Twitch Prime packs released so far by Twitch:

As you can plainly see, all of the content was already made available in previous drops, which makes this free package not that good unless you weren’t able to snag the old Black Ops 4 Twitch Prime packs before. If you did, well, sorry for you, then.

Of course, we don’t know whether this is Treyarch’s fault or Twitch’s doing, but what we do know is let’s hope this isn’t a recurring trend for Call of Duty games — or any other games — when it comes to Twitch Prime packs.

In other Black Ops 4 news, a new patch was released the other day, and it included a duck gun charm that Treyarch is selling for $5 in the in-game store.

Here Are Some of the Different Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Executions in the Game, Devs Looking Into Solving Night Vision Execution Visuals

In case you didn’t know, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will feature, for the first time, what it calls “executions,” which are prompted when a player melee attacks an enemy in the back. Earlier this month, we also reported that there will be different Modern Warfare executions available depending on Operators too.

If you’re curious to see what some of these look like, wonder no more! A few variations of Modern Warfare executions were shown off as part of the Modern Warfare 4K gameplay video, and we have them here for you slowed down to better see them.

All three (3) Finishers we saw so far in normal speed and slo-mo (75%) speed (let me know if I missed one)

Now, if you were paying attention, you might have noticed that in the night vision mode kills, the characters aren’t wearing any Night Vision Goggles (NVG), even if their point-of-view is via NVGs. It seems this isn’t lost on Infinity Ward, who has commented that they are working on a fix for this according to Studio Art Director Joel Emslie in a Modern Warfare subreddit thread where a fan inquired suggested that characters being killed via executions should still have NVGs visible.

Given how brutal these executions are, I’m glad to hear that we’ll see different variations of it at launch. Speaking of executions and kills, did you know that Modern Warfare will feature a tamagotchi that feeds on kills? Not only that, but other than executions, even tattoos will be part of the character customization featured in the game.

Modern Warfare will shoot out this October 25 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Fallout 76 LFG Hub Gets Built by Fan in Preparation for Vault 94

In anticipation for the new raid, one dedicated player has decided to build their own Fallout 76 LFG (looking for group) social space right outside of Vault 94.

Created by Reddit user, SouthBeachSarcastic, the social space features shops, storage space, beds, and all other necessity a player may need in preparation for the new raid dropping next Tuesday.

I know it really isn’t much but I truly wanted a social space for everyone to get-together and share their findings, trade gear, meet new people, etc.. At the end of the day, I am only 1 guy working on 1 server but hopefully other like-minded individuals would set up shop so everyone on every server can have access to this kind of service.

SouthBeachSarcastic stated in the short Reddit post.

Currently Fallout 76 doesn’t feature any kind of in-game group finder, making fans resort to their own ways of getting groups together. This no doubt it one of the most impressive ways we’ve seen someone attempt at supplying the community with an LFG tool. If you want to check out the space you can join the user on PC, contact info is located on their Reddit post,, otherwise down below is a gallery showcasing the impressive social space.

The Group Finder Agora, outside Vault 94

Speaking of impressive feats. make sure to check out this Fallout 76 world record where players take down the Scorchedbeast Queen in five seconds! What makes this achievement so impressive is that the clan, Queen Killers R Us: The Elitist did this all legitimately meaning they didn’t user any prior exploits like many other have.

We also have a fresh batch of inventory this week in Fallout 76 at the Atomic Shop, which you can read all about using this link right here: Fallout 76 Atomic Shop Update – Items and Sales for August 13, 2019
