Battlefield V Won’t Let You Switch Teams, Will Not Have a Button for It

If you’re a multiplayer shooter fan, chances are you’ve been on the receiving end of a beat down in one form or another online. Sometimes when this happens, you can switch teams to be with people that actually play to win, or if you’re good enough, switch to the losing side so you can help balance things a bit. Apparently, that won’t be at all possible in Battlefield V!

Over on Twitter, YouTuber DannyOnPC pointed us to this little factoid, and yep, it’s real!

DICE Software Engineer Kevin Moore also mentions that now, there’s “no button” to switch teams unlike past entries in the franchise! You will be able to join the other, but only if you have a friend (online friend) on the other team!

Additionally, DICE Multiplayer Producer David Sirland weighs in on this controversial topic, and suggests that players try it first, and if it doesn’t, the studio will fix it.

As a longtime Battlefield fan, I have to say, I don’t agree with this. But who knows, right? Maybe DICE knows what they’re doing.

In other Battlefield V news, check out how progression, microtransactions, and in-game currency works right here. We also posted what DICE has planned for the week in terms of news and announcements.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Beard Growth Rate Guide in Real Time Hours and Tips to Grow It Detailed

In case you didn’t know, in Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games has made it so that you can’t just magically grow a beard if and when you shave it off. You have to wait a couple of hours (yes, real hours!) before it starts growing back again, so you can style it to whatever you want.

If you’re curious how long it takes for some of Arthur’s facial hair to grow, wonder no more! Thanks to Red Dead Redemption 2 subreddit member mondomando, we now have a firm knowledge on how Arthur’s facial hair works! Yes, this is a quick Red Dead 2 beard guide for those who are interested in that sort of thing.

Bear in mind that all of the info shared below are said to be pulled from the official guide.

  • Hair tonic doubles growth rate, stackable (×4, x8)
  • Hair tonic lasts up to two stages of hair growth
  • You can only grow one increment at a time before needing a screen fade (sleeping, respawning, fast travel, cut scenes, etc.) Hair pomade applied by barber lasts 5 in game days (2 if done yourself)
  • Hair doesn’t grow past stage 7, beard goes to 10
  • Beard stops growing without tonic at stage 6

GROWTH STAGES – REAL TIME:

  • 1 – 1.6 hrs, 2 – 1.6 hrs, 3 – 3.2 hrs, 4 – 6.4 hrs, 5 – 9.6 hrs, 6 – 16 hrs 7 – 16 hrs, 8 – 12.8 hrs, 9 – 12.8 hrs, 10 – 20.8 hrs
  • These are all without the hair tonic buff.

If you still haven’t bought the game, check out the Red Dead Redemption 2 review round up right here. Make sure to bookmark our Red Dead Redemption 2 game hub for the latest game news.

Here Are Some of the Best Red Dead Redemption 2 Tips Straight From the Community

It’s no secret that a lot of people are looking forward to Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2. If you’re already deep into the game or just starting out, here are some of the best Red Dead 2 tips that are useful no matter where you are in the game straight from the community!

Related ReadingRed Dead Redemption 2 Beard Growth Rate Guide in Real Time Hours and Tips to Grow It Detailed

  • Holding start brings up the map straight away.
  • Holding circle/B in a menu/shop catalogue lets you exit straight away
  • Double tapping L1/LB lets you do a cool trick when you put away your gun
  • Holding R2/RT lightly allows you to draw into deadeye
  • Pressing up with a gun in your hand allows you to shoot into the air to scare predators away
  • Tapping left on the d-pad brings up a task list of requests, hunting challenges etc
  • Holding down lets you have quick-access to radar options (expanded, normal, compass, off)
  • Likewise, pressing down quickly brings up information on the screen if the map is off etc. Great for them full screen immersions!
  • If you press x/A in time with your horse’s gallops, you won’t use as much stamina, this apparently also works when Arthur is on foot
  • Waypoints can be enabled from the settings, I’m pretty sure they’re disabled by default? Which is odd (Display settings)
  • Toggle to run in the settings lets you just tap x/A once to keep running (still have to tap to sprint) *If you keep x/A held whilst going into the cinematic camera view, you don’t need to hold run anymore, and with a waypoint active, your horse will follow the route
  • Using the ledger in camp, after Dutch’s tent has been upgraded (might be worth doing this early since more people begin to contribute), Arthur’s tent can be upgraded to enable fast travel ($260)
  • The lasso is great and can be used for a multitude of things
  • You can lasso witnesses without losing honour/being caught
  • Lassoing large animals lets you keep them in place and get in close for a (albeit pretty brutal) knife kill without damaging the animal
  • Pressing down whilst in first person will enable iron sights
  • Crouching whilst crawling up a steep incline may help with grip and stop Arthur from falling over
  • If you steal a carriage, train etc. You can just whistle your horse and it will follow behind you
  • Holding triangle whilst on your horse will hitch up anywhere, even into the ground or a tree
  • Running into someone and pressing triangle will tackle them to the ground
  • Courtesy of u/phantomsignal “… if no one’s mentioned this you can sell Legendary Buck Antlers for a trinket that improves the quality of pelt of animals you skin. Super helpful! I’m not 100% the mechanics of it, but looked like it would improve a pelt but one quality level. One good pelt would be perfect. The Legendary Buck is NW of strawberry next to an Indian Burial ground.” (Fences sell the trinket, like the one in Saint Denis)
  • You can interact with mirrors by pressing L2+o (LT+B), thanks u/dj4y_94
  • “Check the chimneys”, u/DavyJones317
  • You can hold square/X to continually loot things from cupboards etc. (thanks u/DoStuffAndStuff)
  • You can lasso animals that are dead in rivers and bring them towards you by holding R2/RT (u/Jinghy)
  • You can start a fist fight if you have a bounty and let the police arrest you by surrendering to have your bounty go away, but you will lose all your money (spend it first) (u/benedictxxii)
  • A dark red X after shooting someone means that their wound is fatal and they will die soon, usually accompanied by a very good animation (u/English_American)
  • You can equip a pocket watch from your satchel/buy one from the shop and access it from your inventory in the camera/binocular slot. Great for immersion!
  • Dynamite/Gunshots can be used on lockboxes to open them if you don’t have a lockbreaker yet. Make sure to get rid of the horses first or they may run off (u/standingfierce)
  • Eagle eye can be used to locate items in the environment as well, like plants etc (u/longpantsman18)
  • “If anyone is trying to figure out the horse perks from bonding with your horse; RB + X from a stand still will rear your horse and it seems to get you into a gallop faster. Horse drifting is holding X while moving LT left or right and helps for dodging trees, rocks, or making wide turns. RB + A is great for stopping on a dime and making sharp turns. To get the drifting like the gameplay video, you actually dont need to drift with X. Get a little bit of speed going (tap A a couple times) and then use LT to spin in a circle. Your horse’s back end will kick out like youre doing donuts and then choose a direction to peel out with your horse. No benefit really, but looks tight.” (u/PsijicMonkey)
  • Not sure if anyone put this yet, but if you punch someone with the lasso equipped, you instantly hog tie them. (u/mattwisconsin)
  • You can hold triangle/Y to rest on the spot, if you’re not on your horse and craft etc. This also raises stamina a bit
  • Left on dpad while ads switches shoulder aim.
  • Arthur grabs to most ledges. (Jumping rooftops in St Denise feels great.)
  • Full masks work better than the half bandana.
  • Running up to someone with a weapon and pressing RT/R2 activates a kill shot animation. Works with lasso to skip the throw. Works also after a tackle.
  • Activating dead eye when reloading skips animations. (u/OneManDrinkingGames)
  • Pressing square/X whilst aiming lets you dive and it’s really cool (u/HighViscosityLuv)
  • Hold right next to the horse to see its cargo, this stuff also automatically appears in the shop menu as long as your horse is close
  • You can have an additional horse follow you around on your house for extra hunting storage (pelts/carcasses) just highlight a tamed horse and ask it to follow you (u/peg4sus)
  • This one might be obvious but don’t be afraid to drop your guns in order to pick up new ones if you find them, your old guns can be retrieved from your saddle just like your hat. (u/bluebox_breaks)
  • I really like the fishing but if you don’t or you’re in a rush you can just shoot the fish. Haven’t tried it but I’m guessing dynamite probably works too. (u/KingOfTheHillBanana)
  • Hold X/A to continually craft ammunition at the campfire. It skips most of the animation (u/Greenmanssky) As a note, you can craft split points easily and they do more damage
  • You can fire from the hip by tapping R2 without holding L2, bit more inaccurate but useful in a bind and faster
  • You can carry multiple skins on the back of your horse (u/Pretty_Sharp)
  • You can recall your horse from a stable (u/TunnelVisions_3) also “If you end up in the middle of nowhere without your horse: save and reload it will be teleported near you.” (u/algent)
  • “Wearing a mask is not always enough to hide your identity, if you’re known in town people may be able to identify you from your clothing, your horse, or your custom weapons. Set up a “crime outfit” and don’t wear it while you’re out being a law-abiding citizen!” (u/standingfierce)
  • Press square/X for more customisation options
  • You can store multiple outfits on your horse and access them with L1 while near it
  • Sell all of your canned food supplies and instead cook and stow meat from your campfire. Venison and Beef give great benefits, it’s easy to come by, and you won’t clog up your satchel with a bunch of canned corn. (u/ChickerWings)

Check out this Red Dead Redemption 2 free PS4 theme in case you want to remind yourself how awesome the game is so far.

Battlefield V Microtransactions, In-Game Currency and Progression Detailed

As part of this week’s Battlefield V info and news blowout, EA has lifted the lid on how players can progress in the shooter, and how the in-game economy works. If you ever wanted to know how microtransactions will work in Battlefield V, wonder no more.

Battlefield V Microtransactions, In-Game Currency

First off, there will be two kinds of in-game currency, with one called “Company Coin,” and the the other tagged as “Battlefield Currency,” which can be bought with real-world money.

According to EA, Company Coin gives players the ability to choose items “outside the base progression paths” to further customize their Company. Using Company Coin will let players unlock choices within weapon and vehicle Specializations, and it can also be used for cosmetic items such as face pain, weapon skins, jackets and more. At launch, cosmetic items will be available for weapons and soldiers, with vehicle cosmetics set to be rolled out in the first chapter of Tides of War.

Players can earn Company Coin from doing Daily Missions, Special Assignments, and progressing through their Battlefield V career.

As for the real-world money counterpart, Battlefield Currency can be obtained by buying it with real-world money, and will be used to acquire specific cosmetic items for your Company. Battlefield Currency will not be available at launch, as EA wants “players to get hands-on experience with their Company, the progression system, and earning Company Coin before introducing premium currency.”

In case anyone’s worried, EA has listed some of the key things to remember about the in-game currency system, and how progression works, and has explicitly said that players “will never be able to use Battlefield Currency or spend real-world money to get anything” that gives players an unfair advantage.

  • In Battlefield V, you progress by playing. The more you play, the more you’ll progress, and the more items you can unlock to outfit your Company.
  • When it comes to gear, there is no one right answer — only what’s right for you, your playstyle, and the needs of your squad.
  • There are two types of in-game currency. Company Coin is earned only through gameplay. Battlefield Currency is purchased with real-world money.
  • Battlefield V is made to reward how often you play and how well you play. You will never be able to use Battlefield Currency or spend real-world money to get anything that gives you an unfair gameplay advantage.

Progression

As soldiers play, they will pour in more time which will be represented by ranks in five categories: Career, Class, Weapon, Vehicle, and Chapter. Here’s the official description of each, straight from EA.

Career Rank
This is your overall rank that increases with nearly everything you do in Battlefield V. Career Rank is represented by the familiar military rank structure (such as Private, Sergeant, Captain, and others), and increases with whatever game mode, weapon, or class you choose to play. As you gain Career Rank, you’ll earn Company Coin and unlock vehicles to add to your Company.

Class Rank
This rank reflects how often you play as one of the four classes in Battlefield V: MedicReconAssault, and Support. Progression in this rank unlocks Combat Roles — as well as additional primary weapons, side arms, melee weapons, gadgets, and grenades within a class.

Weapon and Vehicle Rank
Both primary weapons and vehicles have a progression system all to themselves. Earn XP while using a weapon or vehicle in battle and you can then choose to spend Company Coin to unlock choices within their Specializations. Each Specialization path changes how a weapon or vehicle plays, so you can modify it to fit your style. For example, you could choose to improve the hip fire accuracy of an MG 42 machine gun, or increase the durability of a Valentine tank.

Chapter Rank
Earlier this year, we introduced Tides of War, an expanding journey for all players through mankind’s greatest conflict. Each Chapter in Tides of War brings a new battlefield that takes you and your Company into fresh gameplay experiences, including maps, modes, weapons, vehicles, cosmetics, and themed rewards.

You gain Chapter Ranks by playing any game mode during the course of a Chapter, with extra bonuses for completing Tides of War missions. The more you play during the Chapter, the more Chapter rewards you’ll unlock. We’ll explain this in more detail as we get closer to our first Chapter, which arrives soon after launch.

The news on Battlefield V currency and microtransactions sounds worrying at first, but glad to hear that it won’t, and will never affect game balance.

Stay tuned for more news and info about Battlefield V here on MP1st.

5 of the Best Video Gaming Experiences With an Egyptian Theme

One of the real joys of gaming is that it gives you a break from reality and immerses you in a whole different world for a few hours. There are no limits to what gaming can cover and this means that titles can be set around all kinds of fantastical environments.

The incredible history and mythology of a country like Egypt means it is the perfect setting for a video game and this has been proven on countless occasions down the years. In this article, we are going to take a look at five great games which have taken their inspiration from the country.

Assassin’s Creed Origins

Released towards the end of last year, Assassin’s Creed Origins saw gamers transported back to ancient Egypt to explore the birth of the conflict between the Brotherhood of Assassins and the Order of the Ancients.

As if to underline the game’s historical credentials, an educational mode even put the action to one side and allowed players to learn more about life in ancient Egypt and how Ubisoft recreated it for the game.

Cleopatra

With the general mechanics behind online slot games often being fairly similar, it is important for such titles to have strong themes to make them stand out. Often this means that developers turn to history, myths and legends for a little bit of inspiration.

Available on Buzz Bingo, the Cleopatra online slot uses atmospheric audio and stylish visuals featuring imagery synonymous with the period to create a strong ancient Egyptian theme.

Call of Duty WWII

While our first two games went right back in time for their inspiration, the Call of Duty series visited Egypt during the Second World War. The likes of the Sphinx and the pyramids made an appearance in downloadable content which was made available for Call of Duty WWII earlier this year.

Marking the first time Call of Duty has ventured to northern Africa, it will be fascinated to see if future games also make a visit.

Overwatch

The hit first-person shooter Overwatch is another hugely popular title which has taken a trip to Egypt. Blizzard Entertainment’s title used the country as the inspiration for its Temple of Anubis assault map, which is set on the outskirts of Cairo.

In the game, the area hides the entrance to a mysterious research facility which is located deep underground.

Tomb Raider

If a location has become synonymous with rich history and legend, you can be assured that Lara Croft will have paid a visit. One of gaming’s true icons, Lara has visited the country on numerous occasions, including during her debut adventure released all the way back in 1996.

As you would expect, her time in the country is spent solving mysteries and puzzles while securing a range of exciting artefacts.

A Classic Setting

Egypt is a truly fascinating country with a rich history so it makes perfect sense that it has been a hit with developers through the years. While these five games deserve a special mention, we look forward to many more adventures which explore this classic setting.

PlayStation Classic Game List Revealed

Just last month, Sony announced that it’s joining the nostalgia bandwagon with the PlayStation Classic, which is a miniature version of the original PlayStation that comes with 20 games.

Today, Sony has now revealed the full PlayStation Classic game list! Check it out below, and yes, there’s a few classics that’s missing.

  • Battle Arena Toshinden
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • Destruction Derby
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Grand Theft Auto
  • Intelligent Qube
  • Jumping Flash
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Mr Driller
  • Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
  • Rayman
  • Resident Evil Director’s Cut
  • Revelations: Persona
  • Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
  • Syphon Filter
  • Tekken 3
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six

  • Wild Arms

It’s definitely not a bad list, but I’m honestly surprised to see that Legend of Dragoon or a Gran Turismo game isn’t included.

Fallout 76 Interactive Map Created by a Fan and Here’s What It Can Do & How to Download It

If you’re taking part in the Fallout 76 beta, or just looking forward to the game, then you might want to think of downloading this Fallout 76 interactive digital map! It’s made by Reddit user djbza, and while it’s unofficial, it has a lot of features which should be helpful for those thinking of traversing Fallout 76’s digital wasteland.

It’s now available on the Android Play Store (download link), and here are the current features it has:

Current features:

  • High quality map with zoom/pan features.
  • Completely offline map and markers. Online required only for download/sync and optional sign-in.
  • Categorized and Filterable markers.
  • Up/down voting for markers along with an option to only view markers that are “verified” (I.e. more up than down votes).
  • Check off and hide locations you’ve completed.
  • Comment on locations.
  • Personal (private) notes for locations.
  • One-tap sign-in with Google.

The map maker also has a few ideas to add in the future, which include:

  • Push messaging notifications for new location markers and/or updates/comments to existing locations (could be spammy though).
  • Member lookup for creating teams/groups/clans. Not sure how useful it would be but I guess could be used to synchronize locations and content between people?
  • Local/offline wiki with location & items content. There are great wikis out there already so may just be wasted.

Don’t forget that this is NOT an official product by Bethesda, so don’t go blaming them if you have issues with it. And of course, given this isn’t official, don’t be surprised if Bethesda has this pulled.

In other Fallout 76 news, check out the non-interactive map right here. Don’t forget that the beta is now live on Xbox One, and will be live on PC and PS4 next week.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Servers Running on 60hz on PC, Some Servers on PS4 Are at 60hz Too

In case you haven’t been keeping up with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 news, the community was up in arms last week due to the revelation that the Black Ops 4 server tick rates was running at only 20hz, and not at 60hz which was the tick rate during the beta.

Thankfully, Treyarch addressed the issue, and said that they will improve it, with the first phase of upgrades already rolled out. While Treyarch has been vague regarding what got changed and to what, so much so that the community is clamoring for some transparency and a roadmap, it seems Black Ops 4 PC players are already enjoying the benefits of improved Black Ops 4 server tick rates!

Over on Reddit, user soja92 conducted some tests and found out that the Black Ops 4 PC servers are now at 62hz currently, and what’s more, some of the PS4 servers are running that too! Note that this applies to multiplayer, and it’s not rolled out for everyone in the world just yet.

Black Ops 4 server tick rates test results (PC):

Black Ops 4 Network Performance 10-27-2018

Black Ops 4 server tick rates test results (PS4):

Black Ops 4 PS4 Network Performance 10-27-2018

Black Ops 4 server tick rates test results for Australia – 20hz (PS4):

BOPS4 tick-rate Australia – 28/10/18

Some servers in Europe are already running at 60hz (like Belgium), though it might not be the same case for everyone. It seems this server upgrade roll out is live in North America, with Europe slowly getting the update, but no word on how or when Asia will get it.

Have you noticed any changes where you’re playing? If so, let us know how it’s better in the comments below.

The Division 2 Enemy Type “True Sons” Detailed, Archetypes Listed

Ubisoft is slowly starting to lift the lid on The Division 2 it seems, as we now have a new update from Ubisoft Massive about The Division 2 enemy types “True Sons.”

Check out a super detailed look and explanation for the True Sons’ motives and lore here. If you’re more interested to know about what kind of True Sons you’ll see in The Division 2, check the list to know more.

True Sons Archetypes

Like in The Division 1, each faction has multiple archetypes in their arsenal and depending on the type, they have a higher and lower kill priority. With the new combat-design, the enemy soldiers also are more layered and each of them not only have more abilities, but also tactical weak-points that make the combat more interesting. This is not the final lineup, these are just the archetypes that were shown in the E3 demo:

  • AssaultThey are the normal soldiers and are responsible to circle around the players and attack them from the side.
  • SniperThe Snipers are classic glass cannons that do a ton of damage from far away. This unit can also prone (lie down) and that makes them even harder to hit because she has such a low profile.
  • ThrowerAn old favorite from The Division 1. This guy throws grenades and tries to blow the player up. But keep in mind, you can also shoot these grenades down and the grenade-belt on his hip is also his weak point. Once the grenades are shot – he will not be able to use them anymore.
  • MedicImage

The Medic is the new Necromancer on the battlefield. He has the ability (besides healing NPCs) to resurrect fallen comrades from the dead. He uses the shock pads for that and these are also his weak points. When you shoot his backpack, it will disable that ability and shock the NPCs around him. Also don’t get too close to them, because they also shock the player. Keep this guy very high in the Kill-Order.

  • ImmobilizerThis guy is responsible for crowd control. His weapon has a secondary firing mode, that shoots Riot Foam that immobilizes the player and makes him vulnerable to enemy attacks. Once a player is hit by the Riot Foam, the Immobilizer switches to autofire to burn him down. Other players can destroy the foam and release the captured player. When you destroy his riot foam tank, it will encapsulate the entire NPC.
  • TankThis is the classic tank – he has a ton of armor and is very hard to take down. But there are also multiple ways to kill him. The Signature Weapons are – for example – deadly against him because it pretty much tears away his armor. You can also chip away his armor and then shoot the vulnerable points below or you can focus on the grenade pack on his back. When you destroy his grenade pack, it will explode, expose his chest and then you can tear him down easy. Besides that, when you destroy his grenade pouch, he also throws away his grenade launcher and switches to his shotgun. From this point on, he is no longer a long-range threat and then he can be killed from afar.

You can read up on the entire True Sons backstory, motives and more right here.

The Division 2 is set for release this March 15, 2019 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
