This Destiny 2 Player Has the Absolute Worst Iron Banner Luck

Destiny 2 Iron Banner gear is some of the most coveted, as it looks damn cool, and comes with some decent stats and perks. Unfortunately, what gear you get is all down to luck. And some players, despite investing a huge amount of time into the event, have had the worst luck ever!

Over on Reddit, user “cheyTacWolfpack” claims he has opened 27 Iron Banner packages and received zero pieces of armor!

“To say I’m a bit jaded would be an understatement. I’m calling it quits on this months IB with zero armor pieces. Interestingly enough I’m going to be pissed if they recycle the armor again for the next IB as that to me would be exceedingly lazy and unrewarding to those who had better fortune than I. TLDR F*** The Token System.

Edit: I just want to say that I am glad to see the positive reception to this post. Hopefully by next IB we will see some changes initiated to he system. There is always hope.”

User “ggmarasov” provided their thoughts and received 285 points, with many agreeing:

“The token system isn’t even the issue? The issue is that they removed the few pieces that were guaranteed after achieving a certain milestone/rank needed to purchase the piece. The token system is fine – we just need a clear goal and not just “try your luck!” If they’re going to keep it as-is they need to up the drop rate of tokens to about the same as doing a lost sector during the faction rallies.”

“Bladecontrol” is just as angry as OP, after having turned in 43 packages:

“I’ve turned in 43 packages so far and i’ve got countless s*** guns that I don’t want, 5 helms, 3 gloves, 3 chests, 0 boots and 4 bonds. I’ve had decent luck i guess with drops but as a non pvp player thats over 150 games of Iron Banner without a set, are you f***ing kidding me bungie”

I share their pain, though I’ve only turned in about four or five… Yeah, not exactly the same, but I still feel that some awesome purchasable loot would be welcome. That’s how the Destiny Iron Banner did it, and it worked well enough!

In other Destiny 2 news, here’s what changed with the weekly reset, give the PC launch trailer a watch in glorious 4K 60fps, and the game’s director has discussed weapon perk rolls and the “high percentage of players” who have completed the game.

Gran Turismo Sport Update Includes Day One Fixes, Massive 12GB in Size

It’s launch day for Gran Turismo Sport. North Americans get a day’s head start on the rest of the world, and they also get a chance to try out the 1.02 patch, which weighs in at a massive 12GB in size!

Patch notes aren’t yet available for the update, but PlayStation LifeStyle has confirmed that the following features come included:

  • All car data is updated in order to support rain conditions
  • Adds the opening movie
  • Several tweaks to level design
  • The reward sequence has been updated
  • Several bugs have been corrected

Hopefully the official patch notes are released soon, as an update so massive must contain a lot of goodies.

As for what the patch could fix, here’s a list of known issues that the developers have been working on:

In Progress Issue

■ Game Save
– An issue wherein manually saving your data will occasionally result in failure due to a communication issue with the server;
– This can be mitigated by playing the game for approximately 15 minutes before attempting to save your progress.

■ Email Address Deletion
– An issue wherein repeatedly deleting your email address from [Options] > [Email Address] will cause the game to crash.

■ Drift Trial
– An issue wherein participating in a Drift Trial with a car featuring an exterior livery created with a custom colour chip would result in the game crashing after the result screen.

■ Steering Controller
– The H Pattern Shifter THRUSTMASTER® TH8A is not recognised when connected to the steering controller.
This issue will be fixed shortly, however please connect the peripheral directly via USB to the PlayStation®4 until this problem is resolved.

Fixed Issue

■ Steering Controller
– An issue wherein there’s excessive force feedback strength when using the Thrustmaster T500RS steering controller causing understeer (this will be addressed at a later date);

– An issue wherein the steering speed sensitivity when using a standard DUALSHOCK®4 is not high enough, making it hard to handle cars while oversteering and drifting (this will be addressed at a later date)

In other GT Sport news, the game’s producer hinted at future DLC content, performance analysis highlights the great HDR support, and the achievements/trophy lists have been revealed.

Which platform will you be playing on?

In other Call of Duty: WWII news, Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that the game will not contain attack dogs, 4K and HDR support have both been confirmed, and three different official live action trailers have been released

New PUBG Update Is Live, Final Patch Before Big 1.0 Launch

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is set to receive a big 1.0 update before the year’s end, and developer Bluehole is now working hard “day and night” to make that happen. Update 1.0 will bring features like vaulting and climbing, the desert map, new vehicles and 3D replay to the game. It will also be the version of PUBG that Xbox One users will get to try through the Xbox Game Preview.

For today, however, we’re stuck with some less exciting fixes that come with today’s PUBG patch. Here’s what’s included:

Gameplay

  • Decreased the Starting Island item spawn levels in order to adjust the item balance on the Northeast side of Erangel

Bug Fixes

  • Eliminated the fire animation and effect that occured in the Starting Airplane when a player was on fire from a molotov cocktail
  • Fixed a bug that enabled a character to hold a main weapon and frying pan simultaneously
  • Fixed a spectator mode bug of flickering weapon UI icons

If you’re eager to learn more about what is coming next for PUBG, and perhaps even help out with testing some of the features, give the following information a read. It details how Bluehole is planning to trial new features and how you can get involved.

Road to Launch
Our development team is heavily focusing on developing the builds for PC 1.0 and Xbox Game Preview. For PC, we will be only focusing on doing our best to stabilize the launch build and we don’t have any plans to deploy patches to live servers except for this week. However, there will be features like vaulting and climbing which will have a huge impact on the game and need to be tested for at least a month. We will be running test servers at least three times in preparation for that.
Through these test servers, we would like to conduct large scale tests for the content and features that are not in the live build and create a foundation for a very stable official launch.

Test Server Operation Plan
1st phase: Focus on testing vaulting & climbing
2nd phase: More testing of vaulting & climbing, test other new content and features
3rd phase: All new content and features including the desert map
The content and features that will be in test servers need to be tested for at least 2 to 4 weeks. It will be very difficult for us to provide a stable service if we rush updates to live servers after short bursts of testing. As we would like to go through rigorous testing to prepare for official launch, we will not be updating new content to live servers and run test servers for a longer period of time instead.
You will be able to try out vaulting & climbing first in late October or early November. We will give you an update on test schedules later.

You can bet I’ll be one of the players trying to play with the new vaulting mechanic, as it looks awesome!

In other PUBG news, over 322,000 cheaters have been banned and new concurrent player count has been achieved, the game was bombarded with negative reviews following in-game ads, and Bluehole is apparently “in talks” with Sony regarding a PS4 version

Xbox One Fall Update Coming to All Systems Today, List of Changes Detailed

The Xbox One fall update is rolling out across all systems today. Xbox Insiders have been testing out the features, and now all players will have access to the previously revealed Home, Guide and Community tabs, as well as many other big new features.

There’s a long, long list of improvements to follow, so I’ll shut up and let you read in peace! Here they are:

You can personalize your “Home” more than ever before: You can…

  • Make Home uniquely yours. Add your favorite games, friends, Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass, and more directly to your Home screen with a new concept that we call blocks. Once you’ve added blocks, you can remove or change the order of the blocks as you see fit.
  • Have up to 40 pins!  All these pins will appear in the Pin block on Home, as well as the Pins flyout in the new Guide!
  • Easily discover new things, such as friend activities, leaderboards, LFG posts, tips, quick links to Game Hubs, across both your console and Xbox Live at the top of Home.
  • Choose dark, light, or high-contrast theme option in Settings.

You’ll experience a fast, powerful and convenient Guide:

  • It’s now faster and easier to move left and right through horizontal tabs with the left thumb stick or bumpers.
  • When you bring up Guide while in an active party or broadcast, Guide will automatically open the party or broadcast section by default for faster access to controls.
  • New “Friends in games” flyout informs you of friends playing the same game.
  • Game invites will show up in the Multiplayer tab of the Guide.
  • The new Tournaments section in the Multiplayer tab of the Guide provides a quick portal into the official and community tournaments that you’ve joined. Enjoy more Xbox Arena tournament options with the addition of new titles.

Don’t worry about missing any actions when you step away from your console:

  • With the enhanced notification system, when your Xbox One is idle, time-sensitive activities and status are visible from far away.
  • The screen-dimming functionality has also been updated to better prevent screen ghosting, both when the screen is dimmed and when it’s showing notification snapshots of what’s happening on Xbox Live.
  • The newly redesigned Game Hub Welcome tab now features a summary of all the great content around the game on one page.
  • Profiles now enable faster access to recent activity. You can now easily manage who sees your activity feed content through the “Others can see your activity feed” privacy setting.
  • See more content at a glance with new Community feed, and view screenshots and game clips in an immersive, full-screen view.

Get a head start on Xbox One X (Launch Day Nov 7): Your console setup experience will be quicker for both new users and upgraders.  There are new options to help save time when moving from one Xbox One to another (including Xbox One X), so you can get back to playing faster.

  • Transfer your games to an external drive so you can connect it to your new console and play immediately. Just unplug the drive from your current console, plug it in to your new one, and you’re ready to go.
  • Existing Xbox One owners can back up their games and console settings to an external drive so that they’re ready to be applied to the new console during setup.
  • Copy your games and apps over your home network from one console to another via network transfer.
  • Bulk transfer will allow you to select and transfer as many games as you want all at once.
  • You’ll be able to download 4K content for some games ahead of time to your Xbox One or Xbox One S, so that you’re ready to transfer Xbox One X Enhanced games to your new console on day one.
  • You can easily discover Xbox One X Enhanced titles in the Store, and developers can optimize game delivery by making sure that 4K assets are installed only for Xbox One X.
  • You’ll be able to sort and filter your Installed and Ready to Install games library to find Xbox One X Enhanced titles.

Discover and Create Engaging Content:

  • The Mixer tab on the dashboard will now display broadcast previews so you can see what’s going on in popular streams before you join them.
  • If your bandwidth supports a 1080p broadcast, we will upgrade it automatically for your Xbox One family of devices.
  • The Broadcast & Capture tab in Guide is also now more deeply integrated with Mixer. Once you start a Broadcast, a new flyout will appear that includes your profile stats.
  • You can also use a USB webcam to broadcast yourself alongside your gameplay on Mixer, or to have a 1:1 or group video chat with friends using Skype.
  • GameDVR will now be able to capture up to 4K/HDR screenshots and game clips on Xbox One X, and you’ll be able to capture content directly to an external hard drive.

Other big features include…

  • You can get personalized tips & help, smart notifications, community tips, & troubleshooting through the new Xbox Assist App.
  • You can also change your console language to select right-to-left languages – Arabic & Hebrew – in the Xbox Settings menu.
  • You will also see a new Microsoft Store logo and name in the Xbox dashboard, providing you with a simpler experience when you download and buy the latest products and content from Microsoft and its partners, including hardware, games, entertainment, apps and more.

Xbox’s Major Nelson offers a visual demonstration of the new update in the video embedded below:

Are you looking forward to the Xbox One fall update?

In other Xbox news, Phil Spencer isn’t optimistic about cross-play with PlayStation, new Xbox One S bundles have been revealed, and Microsoft accidentally advertised PlayStation Move instead of Xbox Kinect.

Nintendo Targeting More Adult Games for Switch

If there ever was an Achilles Heel for Nintendo’s consoles, it’s been that they were never really known to cater to adults who usually craved shooting, violence and the sort. Well, things might be changing for the super-successful, Nintendo Switch.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal (via Twinfinite), Nintendo is encouraging developers to bring more adult-themed games to the Switch! Takuya Aizu, Chief Executive of Inti Creates, said he was shocked when Gal Gun 2 was approved for the Switch.

Add in games like Skyrim, DOOM, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, which all feature violence and gore, then gamers who want their shooting on the go will finally get their wish. The WSJ claims this change course in thinking is Nintendo’s goal to ensure that the Nintendo Switch will cater to all audiences.

As someone who has a Switch, the main deterrent here is, would people buy these “adult” games on the Switch than say, the PS4 or Xbox One? If the Switch is your only gaming device, then maybe? Regardless though, Nintendo’s games are meant to be enjoyed by adults and kids alike, but I can see why Nintendo would want more M-rated games to appear on its platform.

Dead by Daylight Freddy Krueger Teased as the Next Killer

With Behaviour Interactive adding infamous movie maulers Michael Myers (Halloween) and Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) in Dead by Daylight, it’s now time for Freddy Krueger to enter the fray! Yes, the grotesque killer form the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise is set to be in Dead by Daylight!

Note that data-miners also found a file codenamed “Sandman” for the next killer, which isn’t a hard code to decipher. Sandman makes people sleep, and then Krueger won’t let people sleep and so on. The teaser video showing scratch marks and the words “don’t fall asleep” isn’t exactly subtle, either.

Other than that, no further details were shared, so we have to wait until the price, and other details are officially announced. I’d assume it’ll be out before Halloween, so the wait won’t be long now.

Aside from Freddy, who’s another famous movie villain would you want to appear in Dead by Daylight?

Call of Duty: WWII Won’t Feature Attack Dogs Sledgehammer Confirms

With Call of Duty: WWII getting more leaks than a beat-down old roof, some might have assumed that the Attack Dogs scorestreak will make the cut. Well, that won’t be happening at all according to Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey.

Over on Twitter, Condrey confirmed this to a fan, and said that there’s “lots of misinformation out there.”

The Attack Dogs scorestreak not being a part of the game isn’t really surprising given we have the Paratroopers scorestreak which acts pretty much the same way. If you want to see how it looks like, check our video about it. You can check out the full list of leaked scorestreaks right here, but remember, they might not be 100 percent accurate.

Regarding misinformation, Sledgehammer Games has issued a statement and said that some of the beta mined files are inaccurate. While it’s up to you to decide whether you believe the leaks or not, here’s something we’re sure isn’t a leak: a free COD: WWII Calling Card that you can unlock by following a few steps!

Cliff Bleszinksi on LawBreakers Going F2P: I Wouldn’t Rule It Out in the Future

Much has been said regarding LawBreakers abysmal fan reception since release. While some games have come back from weak launches, LawBreakers‘ standing isn’t exactly something you’d call healthy. Case in point: over on SteamCharts, the game has a 24-hour peak of only 73 players for the day, with 51 currently playing.

While Boss Key Productions or studio boss Cliff Bleszinksi hasn’t said anything if LawBreakers will go f2p (free-to-play), that hasn’t been ruled out at all. Speaking to GameSpot, Bleszinksi talked a bit about the LawBreakers f2p model.

Before launch, you had the big news that switching from free-to-play to a premium product and I think now, some people have been suggesting or stating online, which doesn’t necessarily carry any weight, but that the game could be looking to go back to a free to play model. Is that something that’s on the table or no?

Cliff Bleszinksi: Which just boggles me, my brain because my … I’ve got a decent business sense. Especially when it comes to this industry. It’s gotten me fairly far. And under the assumption that games are expensive, 60 dollars is a lot of money. Even 100 dollars for all the special editions that you see coming out. And I was of the belief that $29.99, it’s a little bit over … It’s pretty much an impulse buy. And did it help? Did it hurt? Should it have gone free? Maybe. Would we consider experimenting with that in the future? I wouldn’t remove it from the table. But, I just … I don’t want to get down into sleazy free to play, as much as I want to keep this game afloat and with our, like I said, our fledgling community, I don’t want to get into Candy Crush type-tactics ’cause I just won’t be able to sleep at night and I don’t sleep well to begin with.

But yeah, I wouldn’t rule it out in the future, especially if we consider rolling the game out … Well, we’re considering in the future, rolling the game out in Asia. It’s one of those things that you almost have to do that in Asia, so we’ll be considering doing that, maybe one of those things if we do it there, would it make sense to roll it back out to the states? Possibly. But, I don’t want to start doing gun rentals any time soon in game.

Check out the full interview to know more about the design process of LawBreakers and what CliffyB thinks of the lukewarm reception and more.

Mantis Burn Racing Cross-Play Confirmed, Runs at 60fps on Switch

It’s good to see so many games embracing cross-play, allowing those on other systems to interact and play with one another. While Sony is keeping to itself, denying cross-play with Xbox and other platforms, we’re still seeing an increasing number of titles popping up that allow PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch players to join each other for a fun gaming experience.

Mantis Burn Racing is another cross-play supported title that will allow those on PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch to play together.

Focusing on the Nintendo Switch version, the developer today announced that the game will run at 60fps on Nintendo Switch, in both TV mode and handheld mode, which should make it super smooth.

“We’ve been spending a lot of time getting to grips with the capabilities of the Switch – we’ve learnt a lot by digging deeper into the hardware” said Mark Williams, Technology Director at VooFoo Studios. “The Switch’s performance analysis tools have allowed us to understand where frame rate improvements could be made and we’re really pleased to have the game running at a consistently smooth 60fps – we were determined to make the Switch version the best it can be.”

When more players are added, however, the frame-rate will have to take a hit:

“VooFoo Studios have also confirmed that 3 and 4 player local split-screen races are locked at 30fps, with 2 player split-screen running at a variable 30-60fps.”

Maintaining 60fps in both the TV and handheld modes is always a good thing to see. I’m a big fan of developers pushing for that smooth frame-rate, especially in a racing title!

Overwatch Player Count “35 Million Players And Counting…”

With games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite recently dominating headlines with ever-increasing player count figures, and titles like LawBreakers doing the exact opposite, gamers have become a lot more conscious of how many of their peers are playing alongside them.

While newer titles are attracting the most attention regarding player counts, we can’t forget about last year’s massive hit, OverwatchBlizzard’s title has been very successful, too, having now amassed a total of 35 million players.

The official Overwatch Twitter account tweeted out the stat, thanking players for their participation:

That’s a lot of players jumping into the game since May 24, 2016. With Overwatch still receiving a lot of support from the developer, as well as new events bringing in more loot to earn, this game is sure to survive for a long, long time.

In other Overwatch news, update 2.21 has been deployed with patch notes, the Halloween event has returned with more skins and other loot, and a copycat title has attracted the wrath of Blizzard’s legal team.

Top 5 Star Wars Battlefront II Beta Improvements We Want to See

With the Star Wars Battlefront II beta now over, we’ve finally had time to let it all sink in, and see if there’s something we want changed before release. Short answer is: yes, we do! While we can’t possibly touch on every little issue the beta had, we can list down the top five most glaring issues we want to see fixed for launch.

Do note that some of the “issues’ we have were addressed by EA in its official statement thanking Battlefront II beta players. We still included them given we don’t exactly know how and in what capacity these fixes will be.

Chromatic Aberration. Please Stop!

Image result for battlefront 2 chromatic aberration

Ever see that wavy, weird effect in the Battlefront II beta? Not a fan? Yeah, I’m not either. It’s called “chromatic aberration,” and Wikipedia states it as:

In optics, chromatic aberration (abbreviated CA; also called chromatic distortion and spherochromatism) is an effect resulting from dispersion in which there is a failure of a lens to focus all colors to the same convergence point.[1] It occurs because lenses have different refractive indices for different wavelengths of light. The refractive index of transparent materials decreases with increasing wavelength in degrees unique to each.

It’s more noticeable on 4K TV sets, and it makes the picture unfocused. Hopefully, this can be turned off in the final version. Heck, even the Battlefront forums are in uproar about it.

Give us the option to turn it off, DICE…we’re begging you!

Squads and What They’re for Really

During the beta, players could spawn with a (their?) squad. While it says that players should stick close to their squad in order to gain an advantage, it’s not really explained how. Are there damage buffs? Faster movement? After hitting the level cap in the beta and playing for hours, I still don’t know.

Also, how are squads chosen anyway? It seems players spawn into different squads after every life, which makes the entire thing pointless. The only advantage I saw is when you spawn as a squad and it makes the countdown timer go faster.

Officer Down!

No doubt about it, the Officer class in Battlefront II might be the most underused in the beta, and for good reason! For lack of a better word, the class kinda sucks. His main ability, the turrets, are too weak. I don’t even remember seeing anyone die from it in all my time playing. At best, it’s a “guard” to let the turret owner know that someone’s attacking the objective?

And forget about his main ability of buffing teammates. I don’t notice it being done, and I don’t see people doing it either.

Give turrets a boost (not too much though) and maybe rethink his main ability (L1+R1)?

That Damn Crosshair!

When I played the Star Wars Battlefront II beta, I had a few instances of where I couldn’t even see my crosshair. At first I thought it was just me being a noob, but checking online, it wasn’t just me! Fortunately, DICE seems to be on the case, but until we see it in the final version, I’ll still bitch about it since it makes hitting your target, which is like what 90 percent of the game is about, a pain.

Loot Boxes Should Be Complementary to the Progression, and Not BE IT

Look, we get it, EA needs to make some money post-launch. And with Battlefront II not having a Season Pass at all, the publisher needs to pull those funds somewhere, right? Loot boxes are in the game whether we like it or not. Personally, if it means we won’t see map packs, and Season Passes, then loot crates are fine.

What’s not fine is locking away Star Cards and other game-affecting stuff behind it. Thankfully, EA has (sorta) listened to the outpouring of hate surrounding it, but until we see it in action, we can’t say for sure. Let’s say DICE is being forced to implement this; what they can hopefully do is make sure loot crates are part of the progression but not the main focus. I mean, what’s better? Leveling each class up, unlocking stuff, and earning weapons and gadgets OR getting credits every match, and using said credits (once you have enough) to buy a loot box that you have no clue what’s inside? Easy choice, right?

I can’t stress this enough: please have loot crates be an addition to the gameplay and progression loop rather than be the focus of it.

[tps_footer]

That’s it, basically. Did we forget something? What do you want to change in the final version based on the Battlefront II beta? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Star Wars Battlefront II will be out this November 17 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
