Sony Confirms 30-Day Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC Exclusivity On PlayStation

Sony turned the tables at E3 2015 just a few days ago, announcing that PlayStation owners will get exclusive early access to all Call of Duty downloadable content, starting with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

The news suggests a multi-year deal between Sony and Call of Duty’s publisher, Activision, marking a huge shift in DLC delivery that originally favored users on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

More recently, Sony’s Adam Boyes was able to confirm with Kotaku that Black Ops 3 DLC would remain exclusive to PlayStation owners for 30 days, as was the case with previous Call of Duty titles and is currently the case with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. One more map pack, Reckoning, is still pipeline for Sledgehammer Games’ title.

With that, what are your thoughts on the new deal? Has it convinced you to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and any future Call of Duty titles on Sony’s platform instead of Microsoft’s?

Destiny’s The Taken King DLC Explained, Developer Diary Shows New Footage

Following up on yesterday’s announcement of The Taken King, the newest downloadable content coming to Destiny mid-September, developer Bungie is now offering a better look at what’s to come.

Oryx waits in his Hive Dreadnaught, a new location with puzzles to overcome and rewards to collect. Players will take on new patrols, story mission, quests, and Strikes that explore its depths, as well as other locations like Mars’ Moon, Phobos, and will face new enemy types with abilities that pose different challenges. Of course, all of these experiences will culminate a new 6-player Raid where Guardians will face the Hive king himself.

Guardians will collect a brand new arsenal of weapons, including Legendary, Exotic, Faction, and Taken-themed gear, along with new shaders and ships. Weapon foundries like Suros, Olomon, and Hakke will present their own distinctly unique set of weapons with common visual styles and attributes. Along with new weapons and armor, Guardians will also be able to power up a new sub-class, granting them new perks and super abilities. These include the Titan’s Sunbreaker class, the Warlock’s Stormcaller class, and the Hunter’s Nightstalker class.

Bungie will also be expanding competitive multiplayer with new maps and modes. Rift is an objective-based mode similar to capture the flag where a team must capture a spark and carry it into their enemy’s Rift. Mayhem is a simple spin on team deathmatch where player abilities recharge must faster, heavy ammo spawns more often, and player respawns take less time. You’ll be able to call in your super ability all the time, essentially.

To see more of The Taken King in action, check out the ViDoc with Bungie developers in the featured section above and have a look at some of the new screens below showing off the new super abilities.

Destiny: The Taken King, as well as a special Legendary Edition of the game that includes all DLC released thus far, will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on September 15 for $39.99 and $59.99, respectively.

Rainbow Six Siege’s TerroHunt Mode Shown Off In New Gameplay Trailer, Official Beta Date Announced

Following a new story-related cinematic trailer presented during their E3 2015 media briefing, Ubisoft took the stage to announce a fan-favorite solo and co-op mode making a grand return to Rainbow Six Siege when it launches on October 13.

Just as an uncountable number of long-time Rainbow Six fans were hoping for, Terrorist Hunt is back, dubbed “TerroHunt,” with its slow-paced, tactical, and customizable gameplay reinvented with Siege’s destructive, squad-based elements. AI enemies can create strongholds and even lead their own attacks using explosives and breaching techniques to their advantage. It can be played solo or with up to four other friends and, like Siege’s competitive multiplayer modes, players can be match-made online with others or form their own custom teams.

On display in the newly released gameplay trailer is one of Rainbow Six Siege’s four TerroHunt modes which includes TerroHunt Classic. Have a look at a full, live play-through below.

Finally, Ubisoft announced that the Rainbow Six Siege Beta will begin on September 24th on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Competitive multiplayer and TerroHunt are both included. At E3, TerroHunt, as well as a new PvP mode and multiplayer map, will be playable on the show floor.

Earlier today, Ubisoft also told fans that both Rainbow Six Vegas and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will ship with every copy of Rainbow Six Siege for Xbox One, courtesy of Microsoft’s new backwards compatibility program.
