Sony to Loan Out PS5 Development Kits to Indie Game Publishers

Sony revealed yesterday, on July 26, that it will be loaning out PlayStation 5 consoles to indie developers. The newly announced PlayStation Indies: Development Hardware Loan Program will allow recently-licensed PlayStation game publishers and developers to receive one PS5 development kit and one PS5 testing kit.

Greg Rice, Head of PlayStation Creators said:

“It is our continued goal to make PlayStation the best place to publish and play games of all shapes and sizes. Over the past couple of years, we have been thrilled to support our external publishing partners with features in Indie Spotlight events, indie montage videos on our social channels, dedicated space for PlayStation Indies on PlayStation.com, and have been working to reduce the time it takes to get a new developer on-boarded on PlayStation.”

The goal behind this new initiative is to make PlayStation the best place to play and publish games of all sizes. Sony says that new voices, new ideas, and new experiences from the game development industry are eligible for this new program and they can sign up through this link.

Sony also highlights how they want to lower the barrier of entry to the game industry and improve the process of publishing for PlayStation consoles. However, since this program is a ‘loan’, it is unclear if the developers will be able to keep these development kits, or may have to pay Sony back in some way or another.

There is also a list of supported countries and regions that may register to be a PlayStation partner that you can check out over here. PlayStation says that once the developers have completed the registration, their team will contact you regarding the terms and conditions of the loan.

Gotham Knights Big Villain Reveal Coming in a Few Weeks

Warner Bros’s upcoming game, Gotham Knights, has been making lots of announcements recently. Following the trailer of Batgirl last week, Creative Director Patrick Redding has made another statement saying some Gotham Knights will have a major villain reveal taking place in the coming weeks.

User @STension19 on Twitter, uploaded a clip from a interview with Patrick Redding at the San Diego Comic Con where he teased a villain reveal taking place in the following weeks.

Patrick Redding says:

“Some of the villains in our game not all of whom have been revealed, and not all of whom I can talk about, I’m especially proud of. So I would love to do the follow-up to that question in a few weeks when we’ve had our big villain reveal.”

We know for a fact that this big villain isn’t Joker as Redding previously confirmed, but it can be anyone from Batman’s big stable of villains. It looks like this villain, whoever it may be, will be added in addition to the Penguin and the Court of Owls that were previously said to be in the game, this “big” villain most likely will be one of Batman’s big baddies. Perhaps it’s Ra’s Al Ghul? We’ll know for sure in the coming weeks.

Gotham Knights will release for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 25, 2022.

FIFA 23 Gameplay Deep-Dive Video Shoots Out

A week ago, EA showcased the reveal trailer for FIFA 23, and also introduced Kylian Mbappé and Sam Kerr as the official cover athletes for the upcoming game. Today, EA has released our first official look at FIFA 23 gameplay! The 11-minute video focuses on all the new and improved features coming to the game.

Here’s a rundown of features coming to FIFA 23.

ADVANCED 11V11 MATCH CAPTURE:

Data from two new full-match motion capture shoots and five training drills with professional teams – including a FIFA-first motion capture of a women’s match – leads to more high-quality, true-to-life animations than ever before in an EA SPORTS™ FIFA title.

MACHINE LEARNING:

Advances to our cutting-edge and proprietary machine learning algorithm create more football realism in FIFA 23, learning from a cumulative 9.2 million frames of advanced match capture and writing new animations in real time to create natural football motion across a variety of interactions in FIFA 23.

FULL TEAM AUTHENTIC MOTION:

Data captured directly from the pitch in both a men’s and women’s match results in a combined total of over 6000 HyperMotion-enabled animations that make players move and play more responsively and realistically than ever before in FIFA 23.

POWERING THE WOMEN’S GAME:

Dedicated Advanced 11v11 Match Capture of a full-intensity women’s match combines with machine learning technology to power the women’s game in FIFA 23, creating authentic animation informed by the movement of real-life women’s players.

TECHNICAL DRIBBING:

A brand new dribbling system, informed by machine learning between every touch, delivers next-gen visuals and natural motion with the ball at your feet. Whether you’re taking on a defender for pace or keeping the ball close to turn away from an opponent, ultra-responsive Technical Dribbling makes the world’s-best move more fluidly than ever before.

ML-JOCKEY:

Machine learning technology learns from real-world defensive situations and movement taken from Advanced 11v11 Match Capture data to rewrite the jockeying system in FIFA 23, enabling defenders to better counter oncoming attackers.

ACCELERATE:

New ACCELERATE acceleration mechanics provide an added layer of personality to how players reach their top speed in FIFA 23. From explosive acceleration off the mark to more controlled or lengthy changes of pace, players will now reach full speed at different rates to create more variety in player movement and gameplay in FIFA 23.

COMPOSED BALL STRIKING:

New animations powered by HyperMotion2 allow for more natural transition between controlling the ball and shooting. Combining precision and fluidity, longer high-quality animation creates one continuous motion as players trap the ball, rotate, and strike the ball towards the target.

KINETIC GOALKEEPER VS HEADER BATTLES:

An evolution in two player interaction technology syncs player animations as goalkeepers rise to meet crosses against opposing attacking players, creating cleaner outcomes as keepers claim aerial balls.

FIFA 23 will launch for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC and Google Stadia on September 30, 2022. Players can subscribe to EA Play or buy the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition to get early access for the game on September 27, 2022.

PS5 Update 22.01-05.50.00.08-00.00.00.0.1 Sneaks Out This July 27

If you saw a new PS5 update notification on your console pop up today, your eyes aren’t deceiving you, as yes, there is a new PS5 firmware update that went out today which players will see as PS5 update 22.01-05.50.00.08-00.00.00.0.1, and it’s a pretty small download.

PS5 Update 22.01-05.50.00.08-00.00.00.0.1 Patch Notes:

This is a very small download, as it was already downloaded and installed when my PS5 was turned on. Checking in with other PS5 users, they have confirmed that a new, small firmware update has indeed been rolled out without any fanfare from Sony.

For reference, the latest PS5 firmware update which was released this July 7 was tagged as version “22.01-05.50.00.08-00.00.00.0.0” which means the only digit that changed was the last 0 was flipped to “1.”

It seems this system update is once again for stability, and doesn’t seem to be a mandatory system update either. We’re scouring the web checking to see if there are other things included in this system patch, and once we know more, we’ll update the post.

If you manage to catch it, let us know the file size of this small download. And if you spot anything that changed, leave a comment below and let us know what it is.

  • Fixed an issue causing the Sten (VG) “Marauder Flash Hider” to have an incorrect name.

GENERAL:

  • Private Match Support Fortune’s Keep | In-Season
    • With the success of our newest map, Fortune’s Keep, the team is working hard to bring the experience to Private Matches.

GAMEPLAY:

  • “Cursed Ground” New Special Event | Fortunes Keep
    • Fortune’s Keep is now considered Cursed Ground – and now has a special event to match. There are several “Cursed Chests” hidden around the newly discovered island. These chests contain power-ups and high-quality items which can only be unlocked by brave souls who survive a hungry horde. Once the event begins, Zombies will continuously spawn in the vicinity of the cursed chest. Eliminate them near the chest to harvest Wisps. As your collection grows, more difficult waves of zombies will rise to protect their Cursed Ground. Harvest enough Wisps within the time limit to secure victory and access the rewards within, including Cash, Killstreaks, Equipment, and possibly Perk Tokens.

  • Portable Redeploy Balloon New Deployable | All Modes
    • It’s in the name… a portable version of the popular Redeploy Balloons. Can be placed on the ground and used until it expires or is destroyed.
    • The Portable Redeploy Balloon functions as follows;
      • Has half the health of a normal Redeploy Balloon
      • Has a shorter launch distance of a normal Redeploy Balloon.
      • Will despawn automatically after a short time.
      • Comes with a unique icon identifier on the Tac Map.
      • Can be found in ground loot or as the reward for completing a Supply Drop Contract, as a guaranteed drop from the crate.

  • Bomber Planes (are back!) Returning Feature| Caldera Battle Royale
    • We have enjoyed watching the new Player stories that the Fighter Planes added to Season Four, so we have also re-enabled the Bombers for Battle Royale and will continue to monitor their sentiment and engagement over the season.

QUALITY OF LIFE:

Adjustments

  • Teammate Buy Back All Maps & Modes
    • Previously, if a Player had enough money and a redeploy token, the redeploy token would be used before the money. Now, money will be used first.
    • If a Player has a redeploy token and no money, the redeploy token will be spent.
  • Gas Circle Fortune’s Keep
    • The Gas Circle radii size and timings have been rebalanced for faster match pacing. We are going to continue to review data and sentiment as we finetune the Fortune’s Keep experience.
  • Radar Jammer Drop Rates Fortune’s Keep
    • Reduced Radar Jammer drop rates on Fortune’s Keep to align with the current drop rates on Rebirth Island.
  • Respawn Loadouts Resurgence Modes
    • Updated most Weapons & added new ones into the Resurgence respawn/spawn Loadouts.
  • Armored SUV Nitrous Boost
    • The Armored SUV, first introduced at the beginning of Season Four, now has Nitrous Boost capabilities.
  • Trophy Systems
    • Trophy systems have previously been able to destroy certain Field Upgrades. Moving forward, the Trophy System will only affect Lethals and Tacticals.
  • Legendary Supply Boxes Caldera
    • Legendary (Orange) Supply Box spawn rates have been increased on Caldera.

Previous Adjustments

This work was completed during Season Four but is listed here for comprehensiveness.

  • Weapon Trade Stations Caldera
    • Weapon Trade Stations have been added to various locations across Caldera that allow Players to trade in their Weapons for high value loot.
  • Radar Jammer Radii Rebirth Island & Fortune’s Keep
  • Reduced the radius of the Radar Jammer on Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep.
  • Buy Stations Fortune’s Keep
    • Increased the number of Buy Stations available on Fortune’s Keep from 10 to 13.
  • Public Events Fortune’s Keep
    • The Firesale Public Event will now happen in Circle 3.
    • Cash Extraction Chopper can now appear in Circles 2 and 4.
  • Lootable Perks Fortune’s Keep
    • Lootable Perks have been enabled on Fortune’s Keep.

PERKS:

Serptentine

  • An important update to this Perk will drop shortly after the mid-season launch.

TACTICAL EQUIPMENT:

Thermite

  • Stick Damage increased to 40, up from 30
    • This change results in reliable down when sticking a target that does not have EOD equipped.

WEAPONS:

General

  • Base Weapons from Vanguard Season One through Season Three have been unlocked for all Players.

New Weapons

Image of the new Vargo-S Assault Rifle
  • Vargo-S: Assault Rifle (VG)
    • Trading firepower for improved accuracy and fire rate, this rifle excels in medium and long-range engagements.

New Camos

Image of a new Zombie Camo
  • Zombie Camos from Vanguard are now available and equippable in Warzone.

Redacted Weapons

Vanguard Redacted Weapons made their debut at the launch of Fortune’s Keep. These Weapons not only include a 10-attachment setup but also contain an exclusive Redacted gun perk!

This Weapon perk is a combination of some of the more desirable gun perks: Fleet, Steady, Perfectionist, Vital, Hardscope, Brace, Spotter, Awareness, Wreck, Mechanic, Fast Melee and Onhand.

Needless to say, a redacted Weapon is an extremely dangerous and highly sought after piece of loot. What’s more, you’ll be able to find additional rare Redacted Weapons in Titanium Trials: Endurance!

Recommended Weapons

We are closing in on 200 Weapons in Warzone, and with so many to choose from it can be difficult to know what the right choice is when returning to the game for a new season. Starting in Season Four Reloaded, we will be rolling out a new feature with some Players where select Weapons of each category will be flagged as “Recommended” to help guide toward a Weapon that is currently performing well within its class.

Weapon Adjustments

» Assault Rifles «

The current health of the Long-Range Assault Rifle category is not where we’d like it to be, as it stands, the best performing builds are ones that result in the least amount of recoil. It’s high time we take a pass at some of the major outliers so that Vanguard Assault Rifles are less likely to devolve into pin-point accurate lasers. While some Weapons are intentionally made to be easier to control, those should receive penalties to their damage profile which we will roll-out over time.

MODES:

Image of Operators fighting Zombies on Rebirth Island

Rebirth of the Dead New Mode | July 27th through August 11th

For a limited time, the classic Zombie Royale experience is coming back – this time to Rebirth Island but with a twist.

For those who haven’t played before, here are the core rules:

  • Players become zombies when they die.
  • Zombies can collect antivirals from crates or dead Players to redeploy as a human.
  • Last team with a human wins.
  • Player Count: 10 squads of four.

But that’s not all. The following additions have been made to the mode:

  • As Zombies are Eliminated, the Infestation Meter fills. When it’s full, all spectators are returned to play as Zombies. Then it all starts again.
  • During the match, Medical Supplies will be parachuted in to help humans and zombies alike.
  • Zombies that perform a Finishing Move on a human will redeploy.
  • Play to get one of two exclusive event Calling Cards;
    • Head Scratcher: Perform your Finishing Move as a Zombie.
    • Last Alive: Win a match of Rebirth of the Dead as a Human.

With the above also comes an ominous fog to Rebirth Island. For a limited time, experience this new mood and atmosphere during Rebirth of the Dead.

One final note: It seems the Golden Vaults have been opened. Who knows what awaits you inside?

Titanium Trials: Endurance New Mode | August 11th through 24th

First there were the Iron Trials – now, inspired by the rise of machines in the near future, it’s time for all Operators to gear up for the Titanium Trials in Caldera.

  • 152 Players on Caldera in a game mode variant of Battle Royale
  • Maximum base armor threshold increased to 300 hit points, for a total of 400 effective health when fully plated
  • Core health is 100HP and regeneration takes significantly longer to heal to full. Armor is everything, afterall.
  • The Tempered Perk appears more frequently as ground loot for more efficient armor repairs.
  • Each Player begins the game, and returns from the gulag, with a Self-Revive Kit
  • Features a custom-built, thematic loot table to support the higher TTK gameplay, including exceedingly rare Redacted Weapons that are a step more powerful than Loadout Weapons.
  • The cost of Loadouts in Buy Stations begins at a higher price point and decreases over the duration of the match. Be sure to grab your discounted Loadouts as the circle collapses!
  • Updated infiltration cinematic for T-800 and T-1000 Terminator Operators

    • The Portable Redeploy Balloon functions as follows;

Rumor: GTA 6 to Feature Female Protagonist, Map to Feature Fictional Version of Miami

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) will reportedly feature one of the biggest changes in the franchise’s history. According to the latest report by Bloomberg, GTA 6 will feature a female protagonist for the first time in a GTA game ever.

According to Jason Schreier’s sources that are familiar with the game, the new female protagonist will also be a Latina and will be one of a pair of leading characters. Much like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, but with a twist of its own.

The report goes on to reveal that GTA 6’s story campaign will also be influenced by Bonnie and Clyde. This may hint that the game will be a love story of sorts, with the couple leading the charge and going on a spree of bank robberies throughout the US.

Finally, the report also reveals that the game will mainly take place in Miami, Florida, and its surrounding areas. However, the game will also add more cities over time as it evolves and will include much more interior locations than any other GTA game.

GTA 6 was confirmed to be in development at Rockstar Games back in February 2022. The game has no release date as of right now.

Black Desert Online Update 2.46 Out for Many Additions This July 27

Pearl Abyss has released Black Desert Online update 2.46 patch today to implement some changes and address several bug fixes to the game. Check out the full Black Desert Online July 27 patch notes down below.

Black Desert Online Update 2.46 Patch Notes | Black Desert Online July 27 Patch Notes:

Drakania Awakening

● Ashen wings which incinerate fear itself take flight. Drakania’s Awakening has been released.
– The awakened Drakania wields two spears known as the “Trion” (Drakanic for “spear”).
– The awakened Drakania can shift between “Hexeblood” and “Dragonblood” forms.
* In “Hexeblood” form, Drakania will fight in her Human form.
* In “Dragonblood” form, Drakania will fight in her Dragon form, fully embracing her Dragon heritage.

Drakania’s Awakening is finally released for all regions on July 27, 2022.Unlike other classes, we began developing her Awakening after her Succession. This was rather a bold and new decision on our end, and we are finally glad to be able to reveal the news of her release to all of our Adventurers who’ve waited with great anticipation. We hope you enjoy her Awakening form.

To go into greater detail regarding her development process, our primary focus was to introduce new combat mechanics that allow Drakania to perform quite differently in Awakening compared to her Succession. Since she is dual-wielding spears, we wanted her movements to feel more primal, and we focused on a “stance dancing” mechanic that emphasized manual control of the class with precise timing of skills.

Drakania’s Hexeblood form is focused on swift and relentless attacks that chain together to overwhelm opponents, while Dragonblood is a more heavy-hitting form. You may initially feel slightly overwhelmed by the different variations of certain skills available in both forms. The basic animations for the skills are similar, so we felt that once Adventurers grow accustomed to these differences. Along with the “stance dancing” mechanic (which can also automatically activate after certain skills), we will see more and more Drakania Adventurers maneuver between forms with relative ease. (Of course, since her Awakening was designed to be so conceptually different from previous classes, we do expect it will take some time for Adventurers to get used to as it may appear very complex at first glance. We hope you’ll take the time to see her true ability shine.)

Thank you.

Drakania Awakening – Primary Skills

● Aerial Burst – Flow: Obliterate

– Unleash the might of Dragons to crush all those nearby, then obliterate them by slamming down your trion.

● Doombringer

– Channel the winds into your trion’s left spear, ascend, then come crashing down to the ground.

● Tectonic Slam (Hexeblood)
– Combine both spears to channel the winds, then charge toward the enemy.

● Tectonic Slam (Dragonblood)
– Combine both spears, then unleash the winds forward to push back the enemy.

● Sundering Roar (Hexeblood)
– Channel the winds into your trion’s left spear, then unleash them forward. Set your right spear aflame, then leave a burning claw mark on the ground.

This is a minor Update focusing on addressing stability issues affecting both Xbox and PS5 players. We’ve also addressed an issue that prevented the “Hook, Line and Sinker” achievement from unlocking. We’ve greatly appreciated all of your feedback and reports while our partners at Lab42 worked hard to resolve these issues, and we hope that this Update goes a long way towards making your time in the Middle Ages more enjoyable.

MultiVersus Update 1.02 Drops for Open Beta v0.1 This July 26

For those that can’t wait to see Shaggy kick Batman’s ass, you’ll be able to do so starting today, as MultVersus is now in open beta! Player First Games has released the MultiVersus update 1.02 patch, which is for open beta client v0.1! This adds Lebron James into the roster, as well as a few adjustments as well.

Speaking of which, go check out Lebron’s in-game moves right here.

MultiVersus Update 1.02 Patch Notes | MultiVersus Open Beta Patch Notes | MultiVersus July 26 Patch Notes :

Open Beta

  • Lebron James has arrived! He is our first basketball-wielding character!

New Free Character Rotation (7/26 to 8/8)

  • Finn
  • Garnet
  • Superman
  • Reindog

New Open Beta Warp Event:

  • For a LIMITED TIME Gold earned from matches has increased by 25% from 7/26 to 8/8 as an Open Beta Welcome Event!

Characters

Legend:
+ = Buff
 = Nerf
~ = Change
Note: Attacks callouts reference default controls.

Batman

  • – Air/Ground Neutral Attack: Cooldown on Batarang increased from 13s to 14s. Pick up of Batarang returns 11.55 second up from 11.05. This means that the minimum time between Batarang throws is 2.45s up from 1.95s.
  • Batman’s Batarang pick-up cooldown created very small windows where the Batarang wasn’t in play. This change should make it so opponents of Batman have a larger window between Batarang attacks to gain advantage.
  • Bug FixAir/Ground Side Special: Fixed a bug where Grapple would sometimes shoot you off the map.

Bugs Bunny

  • – Air Up Attack: Startup window increased by 2 frames, active window decreased by 2 frames
    • The hitbox made it so that Bugs Bunny hit nearly all around himself. This should make the up air a bit more reasonable to deal with.

Iron Giant

  • Bug FixAir Down Attack: can no longer combo into itself
  • Bug FixAir/Ground Down Special: can no longer repeatedly hit and lock opponents in place forever
  • Bug FixAir Up Attack: Can no longer repeatedly hit opponents

Steven Universe

  • – Air Neutral Attack: Knocks opponents up and away to prevent an infinite attack caused by alternating Air Down Attack and Air Neutral Attack.

Taz

  • Bug Fix: Fixed a bug that was preventing Taz from doing any aerial attacks once he reached his air special limit.
  • – Air/Ground Side Special:
    • If you have been following early access, Taz’s Tornado has been dominating his character kit and presenting a non-obvious knowledge check for newer players. By reducing its effectiveness we hope to improve his gameplay health and loop and bring the game to a healthier state for newer players.
      • A decrease to the tornado’s duration and the additional duration gained by passing an ally.
      • Removing one of the multi-hits of the tornado.
      • Decreasing the hit pause of all the hits in the tornado.
      • Reduced knockback from the final hit in the tornado from 1375 to 1275.
    • Right now, our plan is to transition the Tornado to a cooldown move in an upcoming patch. The tornado is Taz’s signature move so we want to keep it as one of his most powerful attacks, with the cooldown forcing more intentional use of it. These nerfs will reduce Taz’s strength, especially at higher levels of play, so expect some buffs to the other moves in his kit in the near future. Thank you for your patience and we will continue to evaluate Taz’s gameplay health.

Velma

  • – Weight: reduced from 70 to 63
    • It was an oversight on our part that Velma is one of the heaviest characters in the game. This change should bring her more in-line with where we originally envisioned her.
That’s about it. Stay tuned for more MultiVersus coverage here on MP1st!

Report: Star Wars KOTOR Remake Has Been Delayed Indefinitely

The highly anticipated remake of 2003’s mega-hit Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is having serious internal issues, according to a report published by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier.

Schreier claims that according to people familiar with the project, Star Wars KOTOR has been indefinitely delayed. According to the report, Aspyr Media had abruptly fired the game’s Art Director Jason Minor, and Design Director Brad Prince earlier this month. This resulted in the head of Aspyr Media telling staff that the project is on pause. Aspyr Media’s president, Michael Rogers also told employees that the company will look for new contracts and development opportunities.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic was officially announced last year in September but has been in development for roughly three years. Bloomberg reports that at the end of June, Aspyr had a demo of the game ready to be showcased to partners Lucasfilm Games and Sony, and that the developers were excited. This sudden halt to the project came as a surprise to the developers who were caught off guard.

Studio heads told the employees that their demo or verticle slice of the game isn’t up to the mark, causing the whole game development to be paused, according to people in the staff meeting. Another person familiar with the situation suggested that a “disproportionate amount of time and money had gone into the demo and that the project’s current course wasn’t sustainable.”  Aspyr told partners that they were aiming for a Q4 2022 release, which was unrealistic according to staff and may have contributed to the game’s production being halted.

We don’t know what happens now to Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. However, Bloomberg suggests that Saber Interactive, who had been hired by Aspyr as an outsourcing developer, may take over the project completely. A new realistic release date, according to developers, would be sometime in 2025.
