Anthem Villain Is Called “The Monitor,” This Week’s Livestream Will Focus on Loot, Progression & Loadouts

If you saw the Anthem The Game Awards trailer, chances are, you’ve seen a dark hooded figure appear on screen looking all bad-like. If you’re wondering who that is, he’s called “The Monitor,” and seems to be the main Anthem villain.

The figure’s existence was confirmed by Anthem Lead Producer Mike Gamble over on Twitter, where a fan asked him who the badass-looking character was.

According to Gamble, The Monitor thinks he’s doing the right thing, which means, he’s not the bad guy just for the sake of being evil.

While we might have to wait a while before we know more about The Monitor and his motives, this week will bring another Anthem livestream from BioWare! Set to start this Thursday, December 12, at 3 p.m. Austin time, this week’s Anthem livestream will focus on gear, loadouts, and progression!

Given how most shared world action games put a heavy emphasis on progression and loot, I, for one, am very excited to see what BioWare will showcase this week.

If you’re set on getting Anthem, don’t forget that there’s a VIP demo exclusive to pre-orders happening in January 2019.

DayZ Finally Leaving Early Access This Coming Week After 5 Years in Development

Well, who would’ve thought they’d see this day coming before 2018 ends? In a new post on the game’s official website, Bohemia Interactive has announced that the DayZ early access release date is set for December 13, 2018 — yes, this year!

DayZ is going to get the big 1.0 update on December 13, after almost five years in development! There’s a launch trailer to mark this momentous occasion which you can watch below.

The studio also has a message to fans who stuck with the game all these years.

Everyone on our team has been working hard and will continue for this remaining week to deliver the best launch version we can. With the BETA last month, we’ve seen the return of the first vehicle and item stashes, as well as the premiere of DayZ base building, the release of server files and the beginning of Modding Support. The most recent Experimental Update has returned horticulture to the game, making survival within your base more autonomous, and allowing the return of the full hermit play style.

Backed by the underlying engine changes introduced with the BETA, the 1.0 launch should feel like a fresh new start for anyone who has not played DayZ for some time – so let your friends know that they have a game to play on December 13.

Keep following us for more events and information over the course of the next two weeks!

See you in Chernarus!

Anyone excited for this? We’ll make sure to keep everyone updated with the patch notes once it’s out.

Fortnite Streamer Caught in Livestream Physically Abusing His Significant Other

Update:

We’ve uploaded the videos on a separate player just in case they get taken down.

Original Story:

There are griefers and cheaters in video games, and then you have those that are just outright, assholes on a basic human level. This is one of the latter. Twitch Fortnite streamer DrDeadMoth was streaming Fortnite to his audience when he was interrupted by what seems to be his significant other. What would you do in that instance? Maybe say something witty? Go off camera and deal with whatever issue? Well, this dude just cursed his significant other, and proceeds to physically and verbally abuse her — all the while the camera was running!

Thanks to Twitter use RevvOCE, we have footage of the incident. Word of warning: this is not for the faint of heart as you can hear the asshole slap the woman, hear her cry and say “don’t hit me in the face” and all in front of what I presume to be their kid.

There’s also a second part to this class act thanks to Twitter user ayu.

Here’s another video of this stand-up dude where he calls his own daughter a cunt, just because the kid was asking for attention.

At the time of this writing, the streamer has since deleted his Twitter account, and it seems Twitch has taken his page down as well.

Regardless of which game you’re playing, or whatever you’re doing, or whatever your significant other is doing, it’s NEVER OK to hit them with or without a live audience.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Black Market Discounts Being Offered by Activision Right Now for Buying Multiple Tiers

In case you didn’t know, Treyarch is about to spring Operation Absolute Zero next week, which will not only bring a new Specialist and weapons, but also a host of new items that can be obtained in the Black Market. Now, if you’re still stuck grinding for Contraband in order to reach a specific tier reward in Operation First Strike, you might want to consider dropping some real-world cash (keyword here is “might”) as Activision is offering significant Black Ops 4 Black Market discounts!

With each tier costing 100 COD Points ($1 in real world currency), players can now buy in bulk and get big discounts the more they buy! Activision is offering the following Black Ops 4 Black Market discounts: Buy 5 Tiers, get 40% off; Buy 20 Tiers, get 50% off; and a Buy 50 Tiers, get 60% off!

The discounts are particularly useful if ever you’re farming for the ICR-7 variant “Blinding Glory,” or a particular sticker set or character skin.

Related Black Ops 4 Reading:

The Call of Duty community is no stranger to how hard the grind is for Contraband in the Black Market with multiple gamers up in arms how long it takes to complete Operation First Strike. Then again, with people spending real world money to bypass this grind, it’s no wonder Activision earns over $4 billion a year in microtransactions alone.

Will anyone bite with the discount deals Activision has offered for the Black Market? Or do you feel that gun skins and the like aren’t worth spending real world money on?

H1Z1 Developer Daybreak Games Lays Off 70 People

Here’s some bad news to ruin your weekend: H1Z1 developer Daybreak Games has reportedly laid off a chunk of its staff, with the layoffs affecting various departments within the studio. It’s estimated that the Daybreak Games layoffs amount to 70 people give or take based on Daybreak President John Smedley’s tweet which has since been pulled.

While we don’t know the exact number of people affected, Daybreak has confirmed the layoffs via a statement sent to industry website Gamasutra.

We are optimizing our structure to ensure we best position ourselves for continued success in the years to come. This effort has required us to make some changes within the organization and we are doing everything we can to support those impacted in this difficult time.

As we look to improve efficiencies and realign resources, we remain focused on supporting our existing games and development of our future titles.

This recent round of layoffs aren’t the first one this year with the studio announcing the staff restructuring just this April. Just the following month in August, H1Z1: Just Survive has been announced that it’ll be shutting down in October.

We wish everyone the best of luck, and hope that they land on their feet real soon.

Battlefield V Known Issues Answered by DICE, Minor Update Coming Next Week

With the release of Battlefield V’s big Overture content update, there’s bound to be a few snags along the way. If you’re one of the many suffering from some unknown bug or two from the last patch, DICE might know about it already and have an answer.

In this week’s Battlefield V weekly debrief, Global Community Manager Dan Mitre has posted a brief Q&A touching on some of the known issues players have encountered with the game since the last patch. Stuff like the weekly mission not tracking properly, The Last Tiger skin reward not being given out even if it’s been completed, and more have been acknowledged by DICE.

Community Feedback Cycle on This Week’s Communications

  • The Last Tiger
    • I’ve completed The Last Tiger but did not get the Tiger I skin reward. What’s up?
    • Dan Mitre (Global Community Manager): This is a known issue that we are working to resolve asap.
  • Throwing Knives
    • Any plans to fix the throwing knife accessibility for Rank 9+ Recons?
    • DM: This is now fixed, players that are level 9 and above can claim the Throwing Knife from the Armory.
  • Planes
    • The nerf on fighter planes seem a bit drastic. Can you explain the decision behind this?
    • Alan Kertz (Design Director): We currently collating all plane feedback. Effectively what we are seeing is players who adjusted to overpowered weapons are concerned the meta has changed. We’ve identified some areas of improvement: the reload time for bombs is probably too long, we’re further balancing Panzerfausts vs plane 1-hit kills, and the cannon ammo nerf was aggressive.
  • Update Stability
    • The latest update still seems to have some crashes and game issues that weren’t addressed. When can we expect another update to resolve these?
    • DM: Yes, we are prioritizing crash and hang issues and hope to resolve with a hot fix next week.
    • The infinite loading screen seems to still be present. Any fix coming through soon?
    • DM: Ditto here. We hope to resolve with a hot fix next week.
  • Weekly Challenges
    • There seems to be an issue with completing the Week 1 assignment. Specifically, the Hold the Fort challenge is not tracking properly. We’re also seeing issues with other challenge requirements. Will we see a fix soon?
    • DM: This is a known issue and we’re working diligently to resolve asap.
  • Practice Range
    • Will you be adding more functionality to the Practice Range, such as being able to use weapon specializations and sidearms?
    • Katerina Waern (Producer): The Practice Range will keep evolving over the course of Tides of War and we are continuously listening to player feedback and adjusting to cater to the community’s needs. Weapon specializations and sidearms is something that has been requested by the community and it is something that we will consider in the future.
  • UI
    • The PS4 and X1 chat logs are no longer showing up after the update. Is this a known issue?
    • DM: Yes, this is a known issue. We are looking into this.
  • Weapons
    • When will the bipod issues be addressed?
    • Florian Le Bihan (Core Gameplay Designer): We are looking at the bipod as well as the prone experience that directly impacts the use of the bipod. In the next major update, we will be bringing some improvements that will reduce bipod issues caused by prone and some more will be making their way in the future as well as changes to the bipod itself. No clear ETA on that just yet but we need to improve that experience!
  • Spotting
    • When will the ‘kill spot’ issue be resolved? (Getting spotted when killing an enemy.)
    • FLB: We are currently investigating.
  • Customization
    • We want the ability to change our Tanker and Pilot soldier so it’s consistent with our main Assault/Medic/Support/Recon soldier. Can we expect customization to extend to Tanker and Pilot?
    • AK: We’re investigating feasibility of expanding customization to Tanker and Pilot.
  • Modes
    • My controller vibration on PS4 and/or X1 does not work in Grand Operations. Is this a known issue?
    • DM: We’ve identified the issue and will be fixed in an upcoming update.

Hopefully, whatever concern you have is addressed in one of the questions above.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 New Weapons, Specialist & More Announced for Operation Absolute Zero Coming Next Week on PS4

With Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Operation First Strike coming to a close, the next op has been announced by Treyarch, and it’s set to introduce a whole lot of new everything! Expect Black Ops 4 new weapons, a new specialist (as hinted previously), new Black Market changes and lots more!

Called Operation Absolute Zero and coming first on the PS4 next week (with Xbox One and PC getting it a week later), the new Black Ops 4 Specialist is named Zero, and is said to be able to disrupt and distract enemies!

Operation Absolute Zero introduces our first new post-launch Specialist: Zero, a versatile and deadly hacker available in both Multiplayer and Blackout. In Multiplayer, Zero can disrupt and distract her enemies using the powerful hacking tools at her disposal, bringing new counteractive measures to the table in Black Ops 4. Players can unlock Zero by completing Tier 1 in the newly revamped Black Market and immediately start testing out her wonderful new toys.

In addition to Zero, a bunch of Black Ops 4 new weapons will be making their way into the Black Market as well! The Daemon 3XB SMG, SWAT RFT assault rifle, and Secret Santa melee weapon, which will be joined by new weapon camos, reactive camos and new reticles to unlock.

Players can get their hands on these new weapons ASAP by playing a new mode that’s being rolled out — Blackjack’s Gun Game! It’ll be one of the featured multiplayer playlists on the PS4. More featured MP playlists will be rolled out throughout the rest of the year, and a new holiday event starts December 13 on PS4 which will bring new seasonal items to unlock once again.

As for Blackout, “everything changes” for the mode in Operation Absolute Zero according to Treyarch. New and much-needed changes are coming which includes new Armor repair systemaudio improvements, SDM and Spitfire weapon balancing, and seasonal changes across the entire map.
Players should see the new map changes in Blackout right away, as there’s going to be softer winter lighting, season changes in foliage, and more. On December 11, Hijacked will be making its way to Blackout, which is inspired by the classic multiplayer map.

Once you make it to dry land, hop into the new ARAV armored vehicle with a friend and light up your foes with its turret-mounted machine gun. Players can also drop in as Zero after unlocking her, or as one of the four zombie-killing gladiators from IX after finding and completing the brand-new set of Blackout Zombies Character Missions.

We’re also amping up our collection of personalization items that can be used in Blackout in the new and improved Black Market, including new unlockable Blackout characters, new Epic Specialist Outfits, shared Warpaints, and more personalization items to use in the world of Blackout. Players will also find new weapons throughout Blackout starting December 11 on PS4 – try dropping into Firing Range next week to get your hands on the new hardware before anyone else does.

On top of the free content kicking off next week, there’s even more coming to Blackout soon with the addition of Custom Games, Weapon Camos, Stash interface updates on consoles, holiday map decorations, throwable Snowballs, new seasonal Special Event Tiers, in-game promos, gameplay improvements, and more.

Not a fan of the Black Market? Treyarch is revamping it for the launch of the new op to make tier progression “simpler and more rewarding.” Players will now be able to mix and match warpaints with different outfits, and gain access to warpaints without having to own the corresponding outfit.

Here’s what fans can expect on December 11 in terms of Black Market changes:

  • 100 Clearly Defined Tiers: We’ve streamlined the progression experience by reducing the initial Tier showcase from 200 to 100. Every reward for the first 100 Tiers can be previewed in the Black Market right off the bat, so you can always track your progress toward your next favorite new item.
  • New Earnable Weapons: We’re introducing our first batch of new earnable weapons in the Operation Contraband stream to deploy in your Multiplayer loadouts, including the Daemon 3XB SMG, SWAT RFT assault rifle, and Secret Santa melee weapon.
  • New Specialist Unlock: Operation Absolute Zero begins in the Black Market with our new Specialist, Zero, unlockable at Tier 1 for use in Multiplayer and Blackout.
  • New Item Categories and More Diverse Content: Weapon Camos, Reactive Camos, Reticles, shared Warpaints and new Mastercraft cosmetic weapon variants have been added to the Black Market by popular demand! Each Reactive Camo unlocked in the Black Market is uniquely designed for its designated weapon, while new Weapon Camos can be equipped across multiple weapons.
  • New Mastercrafts: Players can now earn new Mastercraft weapon variants in the Black Market, including new ABR 223 Mastercraft for tactical rifle fans.
  • New Blackout characters: Our Ultimis Zombies heroes are coming to Blackout in the Black Market! Keep an eye out for old-school Nikolai, unlockable at Tier 45.
  • New Shared Warpaints: To give players more freedom to personalize their Black Ops 4 experience, Warpaints can now be equipped with outfits across different Themes on the same Specialist.
  • Reserves Now Start at Tier 101: Players will earn cosmetic Reserve content after unlocking the first 100 Tiers of Black Market content, including all-new personalization items and a new Mastercraft. And if you haven’t completed the collection of Reserve items from Operation First Strike, don’t worry – they’re still included in Reserves for Operation Absolute Zero.
  • Content Changes: While we’re also introducing new Gestures, Calling Cards, and additional personalization items along with the new content mentioned above, we aren’t adding any new Decals for Specialist Outfits to the loot pool to ensure every item earned can be immediately equipped and enjoyed in the game. As with the rest of the game, we’ll continue to refine the Black Market experience as the Operation continues.
  • Daily Tier Skip for Zombies: As we mentioned above, all Zombies players can earn a bonus Daily Tier Skip in the Black Market by completing 15 rounds in a game of Classic Zombies each day.

Black Oops 4 competitive season plans have been outlined too!

After laying the initial groundwork for our CWL feature set with CWL Custom GamesCODCaster, and the Live Event Viewer on PS4, our sights for competitive play are now set on delivering the full suite of World League Hub features as soon as possible. While many of these features were initially planned to release in December, we are spending a little more time in development to give these features the polish that our competitive players expect and deserve. Here are the upcoming feature plans:

  • December 7:
    • Live Event Viewer (launching with CWL Las Vegas on PS4)
  • Scheduled for early 2019:
    • League Play Events
    • Gauntlets
    • Clans and Teams

You can read up on every bit of info along with the changes coming to Zombies right here.

Once the title update is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. We’ll be covering Operation Absolute Zero in-depth and will report on anything new.

New Dragon Age Game Trailer Is All About That Tease, BioWare Pens Message to Fans

BioWare stuck true to its word, well, sort of. While the studio teased the existence of a new Dragon Age game that was supposed to be announced this December, that didn’t exactly go down as fans might have hoped. Sure, BioWare did release a new Dragon Age game trailer, but it’s just a teaser which doesn’t really give us details other than a new Dragon Age game is indeed in active development.

In a blog post by the studio, Executive Producer Mark Darrah, and Creative Director Matthew Goldman both shared their letter to fans who are eagerly awaiting the next installment in the action-RPG franchise.

Hey everyone,

We have been working on a new Dragon Age™ game for quite a while now and I am pleased to finally tease the existence of this project!

While we won’t be sharing any details for now, I can tell you we have been building a new team around a core of Dragon Age veterans, people I’ve worked with on Dragon Age, Jade Empire™, and some of whom I’ve worked with since the Baldur’s Gate days.

While I have been focused on Anthem™, the rest of the team has been hard at work exploring ways to push BioWare’s storytelling to the next level.

I’m so excited to show you more!

Mark Darrah, Executive Producer

—-

Making players into heroes of their own stories has been my real-life quest since Baldur’s Gate.

Over the years I’ve taken on increasing challenges: building vast living worlds, devising fun party-based combat and illustrating fantastic stories. Now, I’m honored and excited to continue BioWare’s rich legacy of colorful companions, romance and epic choices in my favorite fantasy franchise.

We’ve gathered our strongest team yet and are venturing forth on the most epic quest ever!

Matthew Goldman, Creative Director

We’re still left in the dark, but hey! A new Dragon Age game is coming, though we don’t know when, what its title will be, or even for what platform, but we do know it’s coming.

Are you interested in a new Dragon Age game? Should BioWare include multiplayer again like they did in Dragon Age Inquisition?

Battlefield V Tides of War Chapter 1 Week 1 Missions and Reward Outlined

If you’re playing Battlefield V and the newly released Tides of War chapter 1 Overture content, then you might have noticed that a new set of weekly missions have been made available by DICE. In case you’re having a hard time figuring them out, the studio has outlined just what you need to do in order to complete each and every one. And before anyone gets to it, DICE has acknowledged that there is currently a known issue with some of the requirements from being tracked properly, and the studio is working on it.

In the first weekly mission, Attrition and Fortifications, you’ll need to do complete the following in order, deviating where you prefer based on your play-style/proficiency:

  • First Leg
    • Self Healing: Restore your own health with Bandages 10 times.
Staying alive in Battlefield V often comes down to squad play and teamwork. However, you should know that you can address your own wounds with Bandages. When you spawn, you have one of these to apply when health is low. Restock by staying close to Medics, who will throw Bandages to you, or locate Supply Stations, which are invaluable resources near bases that you can interact with to get more health and ammo.
  • Second Leg (complete one of the three to progress to next leg)
    • Healer: Supply teammates with Bandages 20 times.
Deploy as a Medic and hand out Bandages like there’s no tomorrow! This is something all Medics can do from the get-go; simply stay close to team mates and hit the corresponding Gadget button to throw the medical gear to them.
    • Re-Engage: Resupply Bandages or ammo 10 times at Supply Stations.
Knowing your own turf is just as important as knowing enemy territory. On the control points owned by your team, know where the Supply Stations are – they will keep you stocked on health and ammo. Run up to these for a quick refill and this part of the challenge tree will soon be done.
    • Need Ammo: Supply teammates 20 times with an Ammo Pouch.
Ammo does not grow on trees, so help out your team by deploying as the Support class and handing out Ammo Pouches. Just like handing out Bandages, this requires you to stay close to your team and hitting the right button. Ammo Pouches restock primary and secondary weapon ammunition and are often godsends
  • Third Leg (complete one of the three to progress to next leg)
    • (If you complete previous ‘Healer’ leg) Health Crate: Heal teammates for 400 health points by deploying Medical Crates.
Deploy as a Medic and make sure you’ve equipped the Medical Crate gadget in the Company menu for this challenge. In Battlefield V, the Medical Crates let your buddies restock with Bandages (instead of creating a healing radius for those close to the crate).
    • (If you complete previous ‘Re-Engage’ leg) Break It: Destroy 10 Fortifications.
You’ll be deep in enemy territory for this one. To find Fortifications, try to go for control points close to the enemy HQ. since these tend to be unguarded. Use Grenades or explosives or go for an aerial attack if you want extra distance.
    • (If you complete previous ‘Need Ammo’ leg) Ammo Crate: Supply ammo to 12 team members by deploying an Ammo Crate.
Health helps you survive but ammo helps you win the day. Jump into battle with the Support class and, if unlocked, make sure you’ve equipped the Ammo Crate through the Company menu. Then drop Ammo Crates to trigger-happy Assault players, Recons who found the perfect hiding spot, or just about anyone running out of lead, and you’ll be one step closer to the final reward.
  • Fourth Leg (complete to progress to final leg)
    • Fortify Defenses: Build 10 Fortifications in friendly-controlled objective areas.
Sandbags, foxholes, bridges, and Supply Stations. Buildable by all classes, Fortifications let you counter the destruction of Battlefield V and set up shop at key locations. Bring out the hammer and you’ll see outlines of where Fortifications can be built. Though this task should be done in areas under control of your team, you should still watch your back. While hammering away, you’re vulnerable – your weapons are holstered and you’re a sitting duck for snipers.
    • (Optional: Does not count towards Fourth leg) Snögubbe: Build a snowman.
Time for the “optional but fun” category. Take a break from the heat of battle and grab some cold snow on the Norway maps. Bring out your Fortification tool, look for suitable spots (we’ll leave the exploration to you), and create the battlefield’s most adorable (but least efficient) “Fortification”.
  • Final Leg (currently a known issue with tracking completion in some instances)
    • Hold the Fort: Complete the last objective.
The final challenge in Attrition and Fortifications requires you to use what you’ve learned to earn your reward. We won’t spoil the details for this one, but a handy hint is that the Support class is more efficient when it comes to building Fortifications.

You get this as your reward for completing the weekly mission.

Aside from the issues from the weekly mission, DICE has also listed the known game issues that has stemmed from the Overture update which you can read about here.

In case you haven’t bought Battlefield V yet, the game can be had for 50 percent off provided you own Battlefield 1 and/or Battlefield 4! Unfortunately, this hasn’t been accepted well by the community.

Remember when we reported back in September that Devil May Cry 5 was rumored to have multiplayer? As it turns out, that was entirely true!

In a press release, Capcom has outlined the Devil May Cry 5 multiplayer mechanics, which it dubs the “cameo system.” While we’ll get to that in a bit, Dante and Nero will be joined by a new third playable character named “V.”

V uses a cane as a weapon, and he has three unique demons at his disposal! Here are the details regarding V’s familiars.

The Familiars

  • Shadow

This demon familiar usually takes the form of a quadruped beast, only to shapeshift into blades, needles, and all manner of nasty weapons to act as vanguard. Through Shadow, V can also move at faster speeds than normal.

  • Grifon

This avian monstrosity can always be found somewhere around V, usually flapping its beak with some inappropriate jab. Griffon brings the thunder with electrified long-range attacks, or can give V a lift if close by.

  • Nightmare

V can unleash his full power to call upon this gargantuan demon. When summoned, Nightmare may crash onto the battlefield like a meteorite, or burst through parts of the environment to heed the call. Its sluggish movements belie unsurpassable strength and nigh-invulnerability. Wherever Nightmare appears, its massive fists or brutal laser beams are the last thing enemies ever see.

So what about the cameo system? Check out gameplay of it below, and then read on for the info.

The cameo system isn’t competitive multiplayer (not the traditional kind), but more of a co-op experience. While you’re playing the single-player campaign, and assuming you’re connected to the internet, you’ll get cameo appearances from another person’s game in real time or ghost data gameplay recordings! Depending on the mission, you’ll see another player in the background, or in some cases, fight side-by-side with other players!

Once each cameo appearance is done, the player can rate the player! Nabbing a “Stylish” score from another player will come with useful rewards according to Capcom.

Not enough Devil May Cry 5 goodness? Capcom has also confirmed that the Bloody Palace will be making a return as a free update to the game!

Lastly, the Devil May Cry 5 demo is out now on Xbox One! This exclusive demo will be available from today until January 6, 2019, and will let you play as Nero. The demo will be available on other platforms on a later unannounced date.

Devil May Cry 5 is set to hack its way out this March 8. 2019 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Anthem The Game Awards Trailer Shows Us More of the Story

As promised by BioWare, a new Anthem trailer has been released during The Game Awards. While there’s not a second of gameplay available (which is fine, since we have loads of gameplay footage already), it does touch upon the game’s story and lore.

I don’t know about you, but this Anthem The Game Awards trailer made me hyped for the game’s story since it looks to be more than your traditional shooter campaign.

Through the power of the javelins, skilled pilots called lancers were able to fight back against this perilous world. But a new enemy has emerged, seeking to harness the limitless power of the Anthem. And if they succeed, nothing will stand in their way.

Granted, the theme of having one big bad that aims to rule the world and we’re the only ones left to stop them isn’t new, but the way it’s told and shown looks fantastic so far. And of course, BioWare is known to tell a good story or two.

Anthem is set for release this February 22, 2019, and there’s a closed alpha happening before then! You can check out details of that here.
