Red Dead Redemption 2 Update 1.06 for Red Dead Online Now Live, Here’s What’s New

If you just turned on your consoles, you’ll be greeted with Red Dead 2 update 1.06! It;s at just 2GB on PS4, and as one can expect, the update is for Red Dead Online.

For this week’s big Red Dead Online update, players can expect new weapons, clothing, a lot of balance changes and more! Check out the complete list of changes straight from Rockstar Games!

New Gameplay

Earn Gold Nuggets and XP for completing Daily Challenges, a new series of wide-ranging objectives covering everything from skinning animals to finding treasure, winning feuds and more. Pull up the Player Menu to see your 7 Daily Challenges that will rotate each day, each challenge earns Gold Nuggets and XP and completing all 7 earns you a bonus.

Starting next week, compete with rival teams and Posses in the new Free Roam Event Fool’s Gold, where players fight to wear a protective suit of Golden Armor. Take down the current wearer to earn the armor and points, then turn the tables and rack up kills against the opposition.

And looking ahead, new game modes will arrive in the Red Dead Online Beta each week. Put your highwayman skills to the test with Target Races as you race other players on horseback to take down targets with speed and accuracy. Proficiency with a bow and arrow will give you an edge, take advantage of weapon and horse stamina pickups where you can, use your limited bullets wisely to remove targets or your attack your competition.

Take on friends and rivals in new Fishing Challenges. Opt in to a challenge to receive the appropriate equipment and bait, head to the water’s edge and start reeling in the big ones. For added ease, use Eagle Eye to pick a spot full of fish. Remember, you’re trying to catch the highest total weight of fish to win – which could be achieved by hooking several smaller fish or angling for one large catch – so keep everything you reel in.

Also coming soon: three new Showdown Modes where players and teams compete to capture and deliver bags, steal loot from each other and survive. Stay tuned for more details around Up in SmokeSpoils of War and Plunder. With the addition of these new modes also comes the Featured Series blip – visit the Featured Series sign post or from the Quick Join menu to play the latest modes.

New Weapons

The Rare Shotgun is a beautifully engraved, faded brass version of the powerful, double-barreled longarm and is available today. Coming soon, be sure to get your hands on the Evans Repeater – a high grade, high capacity rifle that is devastating at medium and long range. Both weapons will be available via the Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue and from local Gunsmiths.

New Clothing

Treat yourself to a range of new Outfits, Boots, Coats, Gloves, Hats, Vests and more. In addition to all the clothing that will be available for purchase at your leisure, keep an eye on the shops and the Catalogue for Limited Time items that will come and go each week.

New Emotes

Express yourself with a new set of emotes including new reactions, greets and taunts. Like all Emotes, you can tap once for the standard emote and double tap for a more exaggerated expression. You can find new Emotes in the Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue then add them to your Emote Wheel through the Emote Wheel Management menu.

World Enhancements

Updated Player Radar and Visibility: We’ve reduced the visibility of players blips over longer distances, so now your location won’t display to other players unless you are nearby – minimizing the likelihood of being targeted across the map by more aggressive competitors. This includes limiting voice chat to near proximity rather than players from across the map. Overly aggressive players will be highlighted from the map with a progressively darkening dot. If your style of play becomes more hostile, your map position (including your Posse members) will become darker and visible from further away.

Easier Parley and Feuds: Turn quarrels with other players into timed mini-deathmatches with easier to trigger Feuds, which can be initiated against a rival and their Posse after one kill. Alternately, instigate a temporary truce quicker after one kill with similar updates to the Parley system.

Enhanced Law and Bounty System: If you stir up enough trouble to earn a high bounty, you’ll increase the chance that a cadre of NPC Bounty Hunters will be out to get you. The higher the bounty gets, the more persistent your pursuers will become… so watch out!

Please keep the feedback coming as these new features arrive each week. In addition to new content, stay tuned for new weekly bonuses such as this week’s care package to help you tackle Daily Challenges and your other ongoing adventures across the five states. Head into the Red Dead Online Beta any time before Tuesday March 5th to receive a complimentary delivery of goods at your Camp’s Lockbox or at the Post Office consisting of:

  • 2x Potent Snake Oil
  • 2x Potent Bitters
  • 2x Potent Miracle Tonic
  • 2x Horse Reviver
  • 2x Potent Horse Stimulant
  • 8x Poison Arrows
  • 10x Explosive Slug

Lastly, starting today, PS4 players will have early access to the Jawbone Knife, which is a unique melee weapon with ahandle “artfully carved from the remains of a slain animal’s jaw.” There’s also new clothing options, three new emotes coming to PS4 owners as well soon.

Who doesn’t want to kill the undead while playing with your pals, right? Saber Interactive has released a new World War Z trailer, and this one reminds us the zombies are coming!

In case explosions, and action aren’t guaranteed enough, it’s also using P.O.D’s “Boom” as the backdrop song.

Saber Interactive, in partnership with Focus Home Interactive, has just dropped the latest gameplay trailer for World War Z, the highly anticipated co-op shooter inspired by Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster film. This “Zombies Are Coming” Trailer is the newest look at the game and shows off even more over-the-top, zombie-horde action, just in time to celebrate all pre-orders being fully live at digital and retail stores.

Powered by Saber’s dynamic Swarm Engine™, World War Z unleashes hundreds of fast-moving, bloodthirsty zombies at a time for a one-of-a-kind action experience. Choose from six distinct classes and an arsenal of deadly weapons, explosives, turrets and traps. Apex Legends Hitbox for Characters Compared Side by Side, Here’s How Each One Fares

While in most multiplayer shooters, character hitboxes are the same to balance the game out, that’s not the case with Apex Legends. Believe it or not, some characters in the game are easier to hit than others, which means you’ll be soaking up damage faster given you’re easier to hit.

Check out the Apex Legends hitbox review for each character in this video by SookieSpy:

If you’d rather see it upfront, here’s a quick look at each Legends’ hitbox comparing each character via SookieSpy:

Want something much easier to understand? Here’s a comparison look at each character with actual percentages on how easy it is to hit them up top, and in full overall (via Reddit user Zhrooms):

As you can see, Lifeline is the hardest one to hit at “top,” though Wraith is the hardest one to hit overall. Sorry, Caustic and Gibraltar mains! These two seem to suffer the worst fate when it comes to being bullet sponges.

Those worried or annoyed at this, don’t fret! Respawn Community Manager Jay Fresh has already mentioned that Respawn is looking into it.

Let’s hope this gets resolved soon, lest everyone uses Wraith and the other hard-to-hit Legends all the time.

In other Apex Legends news, there are eight new Legend names found in the game’s files, which suggest that we’ll be getting a ton of new Legends soon.

Anthem Loot Drop Nerf Acknowledged by BioWare, Community Wants It Reverted Back

If you’ve been playing Anthem since launch, and noticed that loot drops were of considerable less quality after the patch, you’re not suddenly imagining things. It seems BioWare’s last patch had the side effect of increasing “certain drop chances,” and it has since been rectified.

This was confirmed by BioWare Lead Producer Ben Irving, who posted the following message:

Comment from discussion Loot Droprate Nerf.

Hey – update on what happened here.

In our Friday changes, one of the edits we made had the side effect of increasing certain drop chances. This was not intended. Once we identified the problem we changed it back to how it was before. That was about 11 hours later.

Took a little time for that message to make it around internally and to make sure we understood what happened and how to avoid it going forward.

It’s never our intent to make changes without being transparent, so we wanted to come in here to respond and clarify.

Ben

Note: we did intentionally change the drop rates of rare items in certain chests, per the patch notes we posted

Who doesn’t want some high tier loot for their grinding, right? With this Anthem loot drop nerf, the community did not appreciate it, and are clamoring for BioWare to dial it back up again. The front page is littered with threads about it, with some of the most upvoted ones below.

I’ve put 87 hours into this game in the past week, playing after the loot nerf is the first time I noticed a lack of enjoyment
byu/Duceman inAnthemTheGame

Nothing will kill this game faster than scarce loot drops
byu/Rehevkor_ inAnthemTheGame

Post patch loot. Whether it was a bug or not, is no longer enjoyable
byu/Avlaen-Amnell inAnthemTheGame

A lesson I think Anthem/Bioware could learn from Diablo III when it comes to loot: “Be Generous”
byu/Archernick inAnthemTheGame

Will BioWare acquiesce due to community demand? We can’t say for sure, since this does affect the endgame, and how the gameplay loop ropes in players. But then again, the points raised by the community are valid, too, and of course, making the player base happy is important to live services games like Anthem.

Should BioWare revert it or did players just get used to the better loot drop rates, and are just being salty?

EA. Activision CEOs Part of the Top 100 Overpaid CEOs List

Even while gaming companies continue to shutdown studios and lay off mobs of people, it seems the top brass are usually not affected, and are living the high life. If that wasn’t a slap in the face enough, the world’s two biggest video game publishers  — EA, and Activision — have their CEOs be part of the top 100 most overpaid CEO list!

This was compiled by non-profit advocacy group As You Sow (via Variety), which publishes an annual report on the 100 most overpaid CEOs.

In their list it ranks each most overpaid CEO, their pay, the excess of their pay, and the CEO:Worker pay ratio, and it’s not a pretty sight.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson is “only” at 98 with an annual pay of $35,728,674, which is an overpayment of $19,673,861. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick is at 45 with an annual pay of $28,698,375, which is overpaid by $12,835,277. Astounding, right?

In comparison, the CEO:Worker pay ratio for Bobby Kotick is 306:1, while Wilson is “only” at 371:1. It seems it is indeed true that if Kotick slashed his pay a bit, Activision Blizzard wouldn’t have had to cut close to 800 jobs.

Will this change anytime soon? Let’s hope it will at some point since this is just gross to look at.

Report: 8 New Apex Legends Heroes Unearthed Game Files and Here Are Their Names

Just last week, we reported that two new Apex Legends heroes have been unearthed in the game’s files, and it seems that’s not the last of it. More names of Legends are now know. which have also been unearthed by datamining the game’s code.

Presently, there are eight new Legend names seen in the game files that aren’t known. Note that even if their names are listed in the game’s code, there’s no guarantee that they’ll make it into the game. For all we know, these could be cancelled Legends and whatnot.

Again, there’s no guarantee that the unknown Legend names will make their way into the game at all, but don’t be surprised if you see these new Legends announced in the near future. Also of note, if ever we do get eight new Legends, I expect Respawn will stagger their release as to monitor if ever they’ll screw up the game balance, and of course, as to not overwhelm people.

Aside from the new Legends, there are also game modes that have been unearthed as well, which you can read about here.

Top 10 Female Characters in Multiplayer Games

Lots of games nowadays have female characters as the main protagonists. This is a very smart move, considering that the majority of the videogame fans out there are men, so using a well-designed, charismatic, and attractive character is a win-win scenario.

In fact, attractive girls are unlikely to leave our screens; they sell their products, and they captivate our attention with everything they do. So, it is impossible to compile a definite top, especially since everyone has different tastes. So, this material does not claim to be like a definitive top 10, the one that everyone has to accept as the truth, of course not. It includes characters who are beautiful or/and interesting in our personal opinion, and we encourage you to make up your own list of favorite female characters. I am sure that it will be quite easy to make up a top 50 list, but to compile a top 10 list will be quite hard, so let’s not waste our time anymore. Here’s our list of top 10 female characters in multiplayer games:

PhoebeBattleborn

The inventor, adventurer, and heiress of one of the largest states in the Last Light Consortium, Phoebe Elizabeth Audelia Hemsworth the Fourth is not someone to sneeze at. I mean, she controls floating rapiers! How can you even consider messing with her? The character turned out quite original and unique; when thinking about Battleborn, it is her image that appears in our minds.

Laura,Street Fighter 5

Laura, in our opinion, is the best original character of Street Fighter 5. Her fighting style is unique, just like herself. Restless and active and having no boundaries, Laura constantly gets into trouble, but it’s just as easy for her to make friends. Her playful nature is also manifested in her outfit – a fashionable asymmetrical hairstyle, a deep cleavage, a sports top, and a lot of bracelets on her hands. And I mean, how can you not become her friend, considering her looks?!

Senua,HellbladeSenua’s Sacrifice

Senua is a complicated lady. Her heart is occupied by the lost lover, and the mind is inhabited by voices, which gives reason to consider her insane. However, she is so devoted to her beloved that she embarks on a dangerous journey in spite of any obstacles and roadblocks ahead of her because she hopes for even a small chance that she will be able to get him back to life. How many girls are capable of that? She is strong not only in spirit but also in terms of her physique. She fights with monsters and giants and other representatives of mythological fauna. She isn’t afraid of anything, and she won’t stop because of anything that life (or rather hell) throws at her. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice should be on your list of games to play just to get to know her character better.

Lohse,Divinity: Original Sin 2

Here’s yet another redhead on our list, and I mean, what can I do about the fact that they are cute? Lohse is one of the main characters of Divinity: Original Sin 2. A bright girl with an eccentric character, she is a musician and an actress, at least in terms of the performance that is happening in her head where several voices live. Apparently, these voices try to take over her at all times, yet she seems fine for the most part. However, this fact does not make the heroine less attractive, rather the opposite.

Maria,Nioh

Nioh has a lot of beautiful women. For example, one of the best female characters in the game is Maria. She is a smoking hot blonde Spaniard who is also a spy. She is a girl who knows how to kill a man in a thousand and one way, and she cannot be called weak. Actually, Maria proves it more than once during this game. Would you risk saying a word against a girl who not only gracefully lures you into her web but also is capable of killing a man without showing any weaknesses?

Princess Leia,Star Wars Battlefront 2

That same beautiful princess which many of us remember from childhood. She looks gentle and fragile, but in fact, she is the leader of the rebels, and no one is better at it then Leia. She cannot really be called defenseless despite the fact that, in terms of her appearance, Leia is the closest Star Wars has to perfection. Without her, Star Wars Battlefront 2 would no longer be the same, so it is with confidence we can say that it is she who makes this game worth playing because don’t make me started on their in-game store… But Leia is great there.

Cassie Cage,Mortal Kombat X

Restless daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonia Blade is a pain in the ass of her parents. But even at her young age, she is the successful savior of the world; who can add something like that into their resume? Cassie got a great pedigree, and she has something to brag about, even before she steps foot on a battlefield. While I would not call her as charismatic and as well-developed as her parents, she has a long road ahead of her; she has a lot of potential. She loves to take selfies of herself and of her dead enemies.

Jessica Miller,Need for Speed: Payback

The Need for Speed series is legendary; there is no doubt about it. And when it comes to women, NFS doesn’t lack whatsoever. It is common for EA to use real-life models to be cast as NFS characters, which is a good thing because all of them look beautiful. Yet we are concerned with Need for Speed: Payback for the sake of this list. Jessica Miller is a charismatic and strong woman; she always got your back when you need her the most, and don’t get me started on her looks: the word “gorgeous” doesn’t serve her well; she is something else.

Chun Li,Street Fighter

Mrs. hypertrophied legs, an Interpol officer, and part-time Chinese officer, Chun Li is among the most legendary video game characters out there. She appeared for the first time in 1991 in the game called Street Fighter 2; you might have heard of it. It was she who became the very first female character in fighting games. She is one of the most recognizable video game characters in history, so it is given that she would be on this list. You can make an entire essay about her legs. Compared to the rest of her body, they are just huge! She is something else, not only are her legs gorgeous, but she can kick the absolute crap of everyone she sees.

Poison,Street Fighter

But if Chun Lee is a true fighter, then the smoking hot Poison looks more like a porn star, which is emphasized not only by her forms and the sexual outfit but also by her behavior. As we’ve already said, and as you know, most of the players in fighting games are male, so a character like Poison fully meets the public demand. The American audience was so outraged by this character that the designer Yakiro Yasuba had to urgently declare that Poison was actually a transvestite. Poison appeared in various stories and comics from Capcom. Her most recent participation occurred in the game Street Fighter X Tekken. Her being in the first place is just a personal preference more than anything else.

Anthem Roadmap for the Next 90 Days Detailed, and There’s a Lot Planned for Players

Just a few weeks ago, BioWare revealed our first early look at the Anthem roadmap, and mentioning how the first even starts in March. Today, the studio dives deep into what’s in store for the recently released shared world looter.

BioWare’s Head of Live Service Chad Robertson posted a message to fans stating that the studio has a lot of work ahead to continue to improve the game, and also touches on the recent patch deployed by the studio, with the next list of improvements set to be discussed next week.

Coming off our Early Access period, we understand that we have lots of work ahead of us to continue to improve the game. As a Live Service team, a core tenet for us is listening hard to the community. We use that insight to fix issues and make Quality of Life fixes to the game. Our most recent patch – the one you are playing now — reflects your feedback. You can see the list of changes here. Many came from listening to you. Beyond that, we have a growing list of improvements we’re evaluating for the future. You’ll start seeing the next of those this coming week.

As for the Anthem roadmap, check out what’s in store below, and there’s a lot!

Let’s hope that next week’s round of fixes include the HDR issue, and the health bug issue plaguing players.

Stay tuned to MP1st’s review of Anthem! We’re doing our best to review the game based on what the players are actually experiencing.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Reserves Now Rewarded Past Tier 100, Reserve Cases Earn Rate Doubled

We reported earlier today that Treyarch changed how you earned Reserves in the Contraband stream in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 so that once you hit tier 100, you won’t earn anything past that.

If you were annoyed at this, be annoyed no more. Apparently all that whining by the community worked as Treyarch not only changed it so that you still earned Reserves after hitting tier 100. but the studio even doubled how Reserve Crates are earned! This change was rolled out via a server-side hotfix.

Black Market Progression Updates

This week’s update brought several changes to the Black Market, including an Inventory system, simplification of Blackjack’s Shop UI, and the new ability to earn Blackjack’s Reserve Cases by playing the game on top of earning new items with each Tier in the Contraband stream. The goal of this system was to give more players more frequent access to content in Reserves, as players could now earn them from the start by playing the game, rather than only gaining access after completing Tier 100.

However, by moving progress toward Reserves up front instead of at the end of the stream, this had an unintended effect on players who progressed through the first 100 Tiers. Initial earn rates for Blackjack’s Reserve Cases through gameplay were also too slow. These issues and more are being resolved today.

Effective immediately, Reserve Cases have been added back to the Tiers at the end of the Contraband stream, andplayers will continue to earn progress toward Cases for gameplay time while progressing through the stream. Daily Tier Skips after 100 Tiers also now work as before, granting a Case for each Tier for players of all modes to ensure the original goal of allowing players to earn Reserves earlier and with more frequency than in previous Operations.

Additionally, the earn rate for Reserve Cases through gameplay has been doubled to ensure players earn Cases faster at all times.

Lastly, if you’ve already progressed beyond Tier 100 during this Operation, you will automatically be awarded with the same number of Reserve Cases that you would have earned for every Tier completed since that point in this Operation. This means no lost Tier-based progress toward Reserves, as your Cases earned after Tier 100 should be waiting for you once you’ve applied this evening’s update.

The following updates are live today on PS4, with other platforms to follow:

Blackout

  • Hot Pursuit
    • Hot Pursuit added as the Featured Playlist on PS4.
    • 3 new vehicles added: SUV, PBR, and Muscle Car, as well as police variants of the helicopter and ATV.
    • New vehicles have special abilities to give players a competitive advantage at the risk of greater exposure.
      • Muscle Cars have the ability to spot nearby Supply Stashes and Supply Drops.
      • Police vehicles have built-in Sensor Dart functionality when their police sirens are activated, as well as the ability to detect enemy-occupied Muscle Cars.
    • Supply Stashes and Supply Drops occur more frequently than normal.
    • Players respawn with each circle collapse as long as one teammate is still alive when the next Collapse occurs. Respawns are disabled at the final Collapse.
    • Last team standing wins the game.
  • Prestige
    • Addressed an issue where the “Battle Hardened” Calling Card would lock after Prestiging.

Black Market

  • Progression System Updates
    • Reserve Cases earnable at every Tier after 100 in the Contraband stream.
    • Daily Tier Skips apply to Tiers after the 100-Tier mark through play in all modes.
    • Earn rate increased 2X for Reserve Cases through gameplay time.
    • Cases retroactively awarded to players who progressed past Tier 100 before today’s update for every additional Tier completed.
    • Players continue to earn Cases at all times in addition to unlocking Contraband Tiers through gameplay time.

Multiplayer

  • Outrider
    • Improved the reticle transition while aiming down sights with the Sparrow.

Anthem Health Bug Is Presently Annoying Players, EA Aware of the Issue

While we just reported on the Anthem HDR issue yesterday, it seems there’s another bug that’s more severe plaguing the game now, and it has something to do with actual gameplay. There’s an Anthem health bug issue present now, and it’s making the game very hard to play especially at harder than usual difficulty settings.

Reddit user FishermanYellow posted an image of how using the exact same components and gear on his Colossus, the health bar is drastically different, which shouldn’t be the case.

Health bug – Both health bars are with the exact same components/level/gear on my Colossus – Confirmed not just a visual bug- Any news on a fix?

Another user by the name of A_Retarded_Alien has posted that his health bar constantly fluctuates between 2-4 bars when it should constantly be at 10 bars.

Bioware, can you PLEASE address the health bug. The game is unplayable in GM1 and above for Ranger, Storm and Interceptor.

Over on EA’s Answers page, Community Manager EA_Alexander has posted a message acknowledging the issue, though also says that there’s no “details” at this time.

Hey folks,

We’re aware of the issue, unfortunately no details at this point.

Again, we appreciate all the reports. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see a response from us right away, our teams are constantly monitoring bug report boards.

Let’s hope this gets sorted out soon. For the rest of the issues that are already fixed by BioWare, check out this list.
