Dead Cells Update 1.35 Patch Notes | Dead Cells June 23 Update Patch Notes:

Accessibility

Important features

  • Added a new Assist Mode to the options menu :- Continue mode – each time you die you can resurrect from the beginning of the biome. (this effectively already existed by quitting the game when you die, now it’s just ‘official’)

    – Auto-hit mode – automatically target nearby enemies with your primary melee weapon.

    – Adjustable trap damage, enemy damage and enemy health in % increments.

    – Option for slower parry window and trap speed

  • New Gameplay Options :- Hold to jump.

    – Hold to roll.

    – Shield toggle option, instead of long press.

  • New Input Options :- Customisable Long Interact input.

    – Customisable Dive Attack input.

    – Customisable functions for the Left StickRight Stick and D-Pad.

  • New Video Options :- Customisable HUD transparency and size.

    – New font option : Arial.

    – Customisable Brutality / Tactic / Survival colors.

    – Display stats icons in addition to their color.

    – Display critical strike feedback on the HUD.

    – Display effect icons in item descriptions. If two effects synergize with each other, the icons glow.

    – Outlines for the Beheaded, Enemies, Skills, Projectiles and Secrets.

    – Disable blood.

    – Reduce the number of particles.

  • New Sound Options :- Customize categories of sound effects individually (active, enemies, environment, etc.)

    – Added a customizable sound priority system, to limit the number of sounds at once.

Balancing

  • Barnacle: new crit condition on bleeding or poisoned targets to make it less awkward (and bad).
  • Tentacle: lots of bug fixes. It should be way more reliable now.
  • Crowbar: new crit condition on stunned enemies to make it less awkward too.
  • Magnetic Grenade: full rework, it doesn’t send enemies flying around (often in your head) but instead pulls them towards the explosion.
  • Biters pets: now way more resistant to attacks and effects that don’t specifically target them.
  • Corrupted Power: now in % instead of a flat bonus. No other difference functionally speaking.
  • Wings of the Crow: lots of bug fixes.
  • Decoy: can be manually detonated after a few moments (it’s not a grenade, but you don’t have to awkwardly wait for it to explode if you don’t want to)
  • The cost of most of the beginner items has been drastically cut, to make the early game less tedious for new players and to make new items a viable unlock option while trying to get your flask, gold and other useful upgrades.
  • Reverted the changes on CrowbarUpdate 29.1
  • Barnacle no longer crits on bleeding enemies. Update 29.1
  • Machete & pistol: The third hit now ignores side shields. Update 29.1

Graphics & UI

  • Added an option to change the text size of Item Names, Item Item Descriptions and DialoguesUpdate 29.1
  • Added an option to increase the size of the Attack AnnouncesUpdate 29.1
  • Added a new font to choose from: “Adys”. Update 29.1
  • Added an an option to add a colored filter between the background and foreground. The color and opacity of the filter can be freely customized. Update 29.1
  • Reorganized the entirety of the Options menu and added a new “Accessibility” section. Update 29.1
  • Texts in the Stat Selection Menu no longer use “Red”, “Purple” and “Green”, but “Brutality”, “Tactic” and “Survival”.

That’s it for the patch notes. Keep it locked at MP1st for more updates.

Generation Zero Update 1.30 Out for New Dawn Content This June 23

Avalanche Studios has released Generation Zero update 1.30 today for all platforms to deploy the big New Dawn content for the game. This update comes with tons of new content, as well as several bug fixes in many areas of the game. Check out the full Generation Zero June 23 patch notes below.

Generation Zero Update 1.30 Patch Notes | Generation Zero New Dawn Update Patch Notes | Generation Zero June 23 Update Patch Notes:

Today marks the third update for Generation Zero so far this year! This time around we’re focused on polishing the early game a bit more for our new players, as well as giving a new option for veteran players to experiment more with their character builds.

NEW DAWN – NPCS

With this update, we added some new NPCs to the beginning of the game. These revamped missions will introduce two new characters to the world of Östertörn. You’ll find Therese quite early in the first mission(s) to help guide you through your understanding of the systems of Generation Zero through given objectives.

Pontus will make a quick cameo in your journey through the Archipelago as well. He will be ready to help you through some of the first missions in the bunkers of Östertörn.

SKILL RESPEC

Skill Respec has also arrived! Players can finally continue to iterate and experiment with their character builds. You will have to progress a bit in-game before you’re able to use this new feature, as you’ll have to collect 5 Uranium to do so. These can be found around Östertörn through various activities, you can also earn 5 Uranium for every 5 player levels up to level 31, and you will earn 5 Uranium for each level after 31.

Indeed, you read that right. The level cap is coming off in Generation Zero, partially anyway. With the new maximum level reaching 10k for those that are running and gunning their way to prestige!

FARMLANDS CONTROL POINTS

FNIX has been quite busy since the last update and has further encroached into the Farmlands region with new control points. 12 new control points are ready and waiting for you to raid them for all the loot needed to keep the resistance going! You’ll be able to hold up to 6 locations in this newly opened front. Here is a sneak peek at a couple of them so far:

PARTIAL NORTH COAST REVAMP

There have been a few new iterations on the North Coast. The most affected areas are in Hagaboda, so hop on over to see all the new details and explore!

TACTICAL EQUIPMENT PACK

This paid DLC is bringing new tactics to the battlefield with scrapped together support equipment from past Resistance fights.

Autonomous Turret Sentry – This deployable mini-tower can give you cover fire while traversing an incursion.

Portable Cover – Assembled armor pieces from FNIX’s friends can now give you cover in a tight spot!

Remote Sticky Bombs – You’ll now be able to throw (and stick) multiple explosives to any incoming machine, perhaps even turning them into a makeshift weapon on the fly!

Dog Toy Lure – This trap is cute and cuddly, for a brief moment anyway, but will bring explosive hugs to its metallic friends after some time.

Molotov Cocktail – A classic weapon for any resistance! Throwing these will not only damage machines but will also burn fuel on the ground for added effect.

Path of Exile Update 2.14 Patch Notes | Path of Exile 3.18.1b Patch Notes | Path of Exile June 23 Patch Notes:

3.18.1b Patch Notes

Alongside a handful of fixes and improvements, this patch introduces the ability to redeem an additional copy of an already-acquired Unique Weapon Skin from Kirac’s Vault Pass.

General Improvements and Changes

  • An additional copy of any Kirac’s Vault Pass Weapon Skin microtransaction you have claimed so far can now be acquired through the ‘Unlocked’ shop category, for free!
  • This currently applies to Vendetta Paradoxica, Titan’s Mjolner, Mystic Void Battery and Sanguine Arakaali’s Fang, as you may want to dual-wield these weapons.
  • The nova that knocks back and briefly stuns enemies from the Arcane Buffer modifier now has a 2.5 seconds cooldown when gained by players. This fixes an issue where it could be repeatedly triggered if degenerating and regenerating Energy Shield at the same time.
  • Stackable items dropped from Metamorphs will no longer drop multiple stacks of the same item. They instead collate into a single combined stack of the item.
  • Microtransactions with a limit to how many you are able to purchase, such as Hideouts, are now hidden in the Path of Exile client shop when you have reached the purchase limit.
  • Fixed a wonky interaction between the Celestial Plague Bearer and Golden Character Effect microtransactions.
  • Fixed two instance crashes.

That’s it for the patch notes. Path of Exile is out now for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

8. Others
– Various other issues have been addressed.

Suzuki V6 Escudo Pikes Peak Special ’98

Returning to the series for the first time in a decade, the legendary Suzuki V6 Escudo Pikes Peak Special ’98 is a monster machine developed specifically to compete in the most extremely harsh conditions for any race car in conquering the treacherous hill climb. The frame is of an all-new design using an aluminum space frame. To maximize performance, the powertrain has been extensively modified, moving the engine from the base model’s front position to a midship configuration. The fully tuned 2.5L V6 engine has been fitted with twin turbochargers allowing it to produce a maximum 981 BHP and 95 kgfm maximum torque.

Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo (Gr.3 Version)

This model is a realization of Suzuki’s motor sporting prowess, extensively tuned to meet Gr.3 regulations. The base Suzuki VGT uses the 1,340 cm³ (1,340 cc) Hayabusa engine linked to 3 high-power electric motors on an all-wheel drive powertrain. This Gr.3 version however has been changed to a simple front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout with a V8 twin-turbo powerplant comprised of 2 Hayabusa engine blocks for a total displacement of 2,680 cm³ (2,680 cc). In this form, the monstrous engine can produce a maximum 577 BHP at an astoundingly high 10,000 rpm. Compared to the base model, the design aesthetics have been altered to achieve increased downforce, featuring an enlarged front spoiler as well as the addition of front and rear diffusers, a GT wing and air ducting on the bonnet.

1932 Ford Roadster

In the world of customized cars, the US is often number one in terms of quality, volume, and genre. The oldest genre of these, now an iconic part of American culture is the Hot Rod. This was a movement that originated in the 1930s, where the Ford Model T and the later Model A’s and Model B’s were heavily modified by their owners. Extensive exterior modifications were performed on these cars such as removing wheel arches, bonnets and cutting the body to make chop-top convertibles. More and powerful engines were then added to the cars as technology improved over the years.

Watkins Glen International

Nicknamed “The Glen”, Watkins Glen International is a historic road course found in New York State, roughly 260 miles northwest of New York City, which opened in 1956 and is surrounded by rolling hills. The first half of the track comprises high-speed sections with mid to high-speed corners, with the latter half features tight, technical turn combinations. The undulating track is also narrow which encourages high-intensity racing battles. The back straight leads to a high-speed chicane, immediately followed by a right turn into a banking section (Outer Loop), which is one of the track’s primary highlights. From there, the long course will run into the technical section known as “The Boot”, while the ‘Short Course’ bypasses this segment entirely.

Gran Turismo Café – Extra Menus

The following 3 Extra Menus have been added:

  • Toyota 86 Collection: Opens at Collector Level 20
  • Honda Type R Collection: Opens at Collector Level 20
  • Rotary Engine Collection: Opens at Collector Level 32

If there are gameplay-related changes included from Polyphony that’s released, we’ll be sure to update the post.

Steam Down for June 22 – Connection Issues Preventing Logins [Update]

If you’ve been trying to sign into your Steam account this evening, you may notice that there appears to be some connection issues as it appears that Steam servers are down.

Steam Down for June 22 Status and Updates for June 22:

Update: It appears that the servers are slowly coming back up as users are now reporting that they can log in now.

While Valve and the official Steam Twitter support have yet to acknowledge any issues with the service, a large number of reports on both Twitter and Downdetector, as well as on our end, confirms that Steam is indeed down. Upon attempting to log into the client either via browser, or through the dedicated app, users will encounter the following connection error.

Steam Down for June 22It seems we’ll just have to wait this out until Valve has resolved the issue, and we will continue to update this post once any progress is made. For now, if you want to play an online multiplayer game, you’ll need to wait, but if you do want to jump into any single-player game you can at least start the client in offline mode.

Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max and Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max Review – Turtle Power

Turtle Beach is back, and this time with yet another exciting new revision to their Stealth 600 and 700 series of headsets. The “Max” versions of the Stealth series offer better quality, better sound, and built with consoles in mind, The question is: does it deliver? Here’s our review of the new Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max and Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max.

The Design

In the looks department, I have to say that the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and 700 Gen 2 MAX is remarkably beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very plain when you first look at it from pictures and promotional material, but I assure you, in person it looks and feels like a premium product.

The exterior is covered in a nicely matted plastic finish, and while that may scream “cheap” and “non-durable,” it is anything but. It feels well built, as if the intentions were to make sure that it would last a lifetime. It’s not bulky either, comparable to the size of my PlayStation 3D Pulse headset. Now there is surprisingly some weight, but the memory foam underneath the band as well as around the ear cups help cushion that to the point where you probably won’t notice. It’s a snug and comfortable fit

Both ear cups also have hinges to rotate in and out, as well as up and down. It’s a nice design choice, one I’ve been fond of in past Turtle Beach headsets, as well as the ROCCAT line. And I mentioned before that both ear cups have memory foam cushioning, which are wrapped in a leather-like material. Looking inside the ear cups themselves however, you can actually see the speakers and its internal components as there is a transparent film of fabric over it. It’s not a big thing, but I do like that from a style standpoint, even if you only see it when you take them off.

On the left ear cup you’ll find all the bells and whistles of dials and buttons. There are two volume controls, one for game, and the other for chat, and then there’s the Bluetooth (700 model only) pairing button, and the mode button to toggle Superhuman Hearing. I’ll dive into that stuff a bit later, but in terms of accessibility, it’s all there out of the box, no additional software needed or leaving it up entirely to the consoles themselves.

What I love the most though is how the microphone is carved into the ear cup itself, allowing you to easily swing it down when you want to use it, or hide it completely without the need of removing it. I do like it when you can remove the microphone, but that’s mostly because a majority of sets out there don’t have a good way of hiding it. It either stays stuck out, or rotates awkwardly. If they are removable then you have to worry about potentially losing it, which I’m sure some of you have before. Mind it’s not the most flexible of microphones out there with a small angle adjustment, but it is positioned in a great spot where it’ll always pick up your voice. And again, if you aren’t someone who uses the mic, you can flick it to the up position and it will automatically be muted (an audible mute,) so you can play without the worry of someone hearing you.

Now if there is a complaint that I do have, then it’s the tightness around the ear cup. While the cushioning is comfortable, I found there to be a bit too much pressure around the ears during my first time wearing. I’ve gotten used to it, but there is definitely noticeable pressure. I’m not sure if it’s because of the banding not really being flexible, thus exerting too much around the ears, but as a warning if you have a large head you may find a bit of discomfort. It does do a great job at blocking outside sounds though, so there is a reason why that pressure is there, and like I said, I did get used to it after use, so it may just be the case of “breaking it in.”

Stellar Performance at Your Full Control

Perhaps what makes both the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and 700 Gen 2 Max such a darn good pair of headsets is by far, the way they sound. I mean these are headsets, so it comes with the expectations that they would sound great, but to be able to be used across a variety of systems so seamlessly, without any sacrifices in its quality is a big thing. I’ll use my PC a lot for productivity (video and audio editing) and gaming, and I found that both the 600 and 700 are able to meet those needs, as sounds come in high, crystal clear tones.

And while not the most option filled, the Turtle Beach Audio Hub App is an absolute must for console gamers. Being a PC gamer, I get the benefits of having access to a wide variety of options to better suit my audio needs. However, when I do play games on consoles I like that Turtle Beach gives me a bit of that power with their own apps. Again, it doesn’t have a lot of options that you would get on the PC side of things, but being able to adjust certain perimeters makes a difference. That goes without saying that both the 600 and 700 Gen 2 Max are great out of the box, but the app is definitely a worthwhile feature as it gives you access to things like Superhuman Hearing volume, mic monitoring, chat boosts, and even being able to remap the chat wheel to something else like full volume control for Superhuman Hearing, mic monitoring levels, and even Bluetooth volume. It’s great, I’ve never seen that as an option on a headset to remap specific buttons and dials, at least for console use.

Sticking to the subject of consoles, both the Stealth 600 and 700 Gen 2 Max support 3D Audio on PS5 and Dolby Atmos on the Xbox. They make great use of those audio technologies and for someone really looking for a headset that takes full advantage of these features, especially on the Xbox, then you can’t go wrong with either of these sets.

The 600 Gen 2 Max and 700 Gen 2 Max Difference

Now you may be wondering what the big differences are between both the 600 and 700 Gen 2 Max headsets, and honestly, it’ll all boil down the preference here. Both headsets offer incredible sounds, and they both share wireless connectivity via dongle with the 700 having Bluetooth support. In terms of battery life, they both are capable of supplying an astonishing 40-hours of usage, with the 600 having a bit more juice in its charge.

However, despite looking the same, the 700 is without a question the better build. It has metal-reinforced banding, whereas the 600 is fully plastic. The ear cushions are also noticeably more comfortable, as well as have a cooling effect in the 700 series. That’s not to say that the 600 isn’t comfortable by any means, just when compared to the 700 there is a big difference.  As for the audio and microphone, the 700 inches out, but barely. They’re both superb in sound quality, but we found the microphone in the 700 to be a tad better.

The biggest difference, however, is the pricing. The 600 Gen 2 Max will run at a MSRP of $129.99 while the 700 Gen 2 Max MSRP at $199.99. A $70 price tag difference, but I suppose the 700 Gen 2 Max earns that due to the built quality and overall improved functionalities.

Verdict

Outside of the initial ear cup tightness, I don’t have much in terms of negativity about these sets. They’re excellent, and maybe in fact amongst the best headsets I have ever used on consoles. Comfortable, as well as sleek and beautiful in their design, with their performance being a true knock-out with superbly clean audio and a well quality mic. The battery life is just perfect too, though we aren’t against Turtle Beach coming back with a longer lasting one down the road.

I highly recommend either of the sets, but if you want a big more quality and more bang out of your buck, then the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max is well worth the extra price.

Pros:

  • Overall design is beautiful, and comfortable.
  • Spectacular speakers.
  • Microphone quality, with easy built-in headphone storage.
  • Battery life in both 600 and 700.
  • 700 model – Bluetooth support, and in general, a worthwhile improvement over the 600 series.
  • Built with console usage in mind. App is easy to use and offers well welcomed features for console players.

Cons:

  • Some tightness, which will vary from user to user.

Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and 700 Gen 2 MAX hardware was provided by the manufacture for review purposes. You can read MP1st’s review and scoring policy right here.

Final Fantasy 16 Won’t Be Open World, Will Feature “Fully AI-Driven” Party Members

Given how almost every major game these days is touting an open world design, some gamers might have assumed that Square Enix was going this route for Final Fantasy 16. Depending on where you stand, that’s not the case, as Square Enix has officially confirmed it’s not.

Speaking to IGN, Producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that FF16 won’t be open world, though mentioend that it will take inspiration from AAA, open world RPGs but doesn’t name any specific game or game mechanic they’re borrowing.

To bring a story that feels like it spans an entire globe and beyond, we decided to avoid an open world design that limits us to a single open world space, and instead focus on an independent area-based game design that can give players a better feel of a truly ‘global’ scale. – Naoki Yoshida, Producer

In a separate interview by GamesRadar, Yoshida confirms that players will solely be controlling game protagonist Clive, with the AI party members (yep, there will be party members in a Final Fantasy game) will be “fully AI-driven.”

In battle, you have these characters that will be fully AI-driven, but that doesn’t mean that they will just be there in battle – there will be party banter, they will be accompanying Clive along this journey, and you’ll have party members enter the party and leave the party, and different people come in depending on where you are in the story.

These characters will play big roles in the story and have their own arcs themselves. And so it’s not just… basically having someone help you in battle, it’s having party members participating in Clive’s journey. – Naoki Yoshida, Producer

Hopefully, these AI-controlled squad mates will be smart enough to do the right thing in combat. In case you haven’t seen it yet, go check out the latest gameplay footage from Final Fantasy 16, which is quite a feast for the eyes.

Final Fantasy 16 is set for release this Summer 2023 on the PS5.

“Hyenas” Sci-Fi Multiplayer First-Person Shooter Announced by SEGA, Check Out the Trailer

It seems SEGA is entering the multiplayer shooter landscape, as the publisher has announced “Hyenas” a sci-fi multiplayer first-person shooter that’s set for release this 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC! The game is being developed by Creative Assembly, the first-party studio owned by SEGA and most known for the Total War franchise.

Check out the trailer alongside the first bits of info!

Earth is gone, the rich have colonised Mars and the rest of humanity is living their worst life in The Taint, a giant orbiting slum. While humanity is trying to survive, the Mars billionaires are more worried about fulfilling their nostalgic dreams. Plunderships, massive retail spacecrafts dedicated to selling salvaged pop-culture artefacts from Earth, our artefacts, at space-high prices to satisfy their desires.

We, an unlikely pack of talented robbers, hit the Mars elite where it hurts most: their stuff A.K.A. OUR stuff. They call us ‘HYENAS’.
We get in, empty some clips into their security clones and other “”preventative measures””, steal all the best stuff then get out. Exploding a clone in zero gravity is kind of messy, but as long as we make it out with the merch it’s worth it.

Alongside the reveal, SEGA has also announced that alpha sign-ups are now live, too! Interested players can check this link to test their luck in getting in.

Here’s the official game description (via Steam):

Give Zero Fs in Zero-G

Why walk when you can fly? Traverse seamlessly into zero-G zones where movement and combat take flight.

Meet the HYENAS

A cast of memorable misfits with unique abilities and big personalities. Pick a Hyena to suit your style, whether that’s all guns blazing, or manipulating the environment to your advantage.

Steal Iconic Merch

Yesterday’s pop culture collectibles are priceless artefacts in a post-Earth age. Steal iconic memorabilia from the Plunderships’ vaults before rival crews do.

Become the Top Pack

Compete against other packs of players while taking down Plundership security forces. Meet your loot quota and make your escape to win.

An Evolving Challenge

Look forward to new HYENAS joining the party and the launch of extra Plunderships with more precious merch to steal.

Checking the trailer, it seems like it’s a mix of Apex Legends, Borderlands and Payday? I mean, it does mention stealing and whatnot. Once we know more details regarding the game, we’ll let our readers know.

Marvel’s Avengers Jane Foster Mighty Thor Outfits Preview Hammers Out

Just yesterday, Crystal Dynamics announced The Mighty Thor Jane Foster will fly out into the game this June 28. Now, the studio has also given us a look at the Marvel’s Avengers Jane Foster Mighty Thor outfits, and they are inspired from the comics.

Marvel’s Avengers Jane Foster Mighty Thor Outfits Preview:

Mighty Outfit

Her Mighty outfit is our faithful reinterpretation of her instant-classic design from Thor #1 (2014), brought to life beautifully by Russell Dauterman. With the addition of Norse-inspired detailing across the suit, and further material embellishment, we like to think this is look leaps off the page into full cinema-quality glory.

Valkyrie Outfit

In the comics, Jane evolves over time from the Mighty Thor to Valkyrie, an earthly agent of Asgard. We stayed very close to her core design, imagined once again by the talented Russell Dauterman. Through thoughtful additions of decorative and construction details, this deceptively graphic-looking design springs to life in game. To further capture the magic of her comic origins, we made her primary weapon Undrjarn, the All-Weapon.

Thordis Outfit

Longtime Jane fans might recognize this look’s inspiration from What If? #10 (1977). In this story its Jane Foster, not Donald Blake, who lifts Mjolnir and is imbued with Thor’s power. While its classically driven source design is faithfully expressed, we added embossing detail and extended loincloths to give it a modernized feel.

Chances are, we’ll be seeing an overview and gameplay of the character sometime this week as well, and once we know more, we’ll be sure to share it with our readers.

This update includes an abundance of sound adjustments on all platforms. The focus for this patch was on the combat audio experience. We will continue to make adjustments and improvements in every release. After our initial adjustment pass on all Legends, Epic Skins, and Crossovers, we will target the main menu and UI sounds.

Adjustments are as followed:

  • Global reverb has been reduced for clarity.
  • Each KO FX’s volume has been individually adjusted to be in line better with combat volume.
  • Volume for light attacks for all 13 weapon kits have been adjusted to be in line with the overall volume of Signature Heavy Attacks.
  • Several Legends had attacks that were too loud or too quiet, and those have been adjusted.
  • Adjusted fades for several Legends with Signature attacks that were noticeably cut off or popping.
  • All music transitions and crossfades were adjusted to blend instead of cutting off.
  • Background crowd volume has been lowered.
  • Sidekicks’ sounds during the start of the match have been adjusted.
  • Hits for Unarmed Heavy Neutral, Side, Down, Ground Pound and Recovery are all heavy impacts instead of scaling from light to heavy.
  • Volume for Cannon heavy hits / explosions were reduced to a proper level.
  • Artemis Scythe Side had a loud segment that was tamed.
  • Removed the Spike Ball pickup sound from Cassidy’s Hammer Neutral.

Below are the Legends who received sound adjustments in this first pass. These Legends will continue to be monitored and may receive further adjustments. Our goal is to do a sound pass for all Legends.

  • Ada – Azoth – Brynn
  • Caspian – Cassidy – Cross
  • Diana – Dusk – Ember
  • Gnash – Hattori – Isaiah
  • Jiro – Kaya – Lord Vraxx
  • Munin – Nix – Onyx
  • Orion – Petra – Queen Nai
  • Ragnir – Rayman – Reno
  • Scarlet – Sentinel – Sidra
  • Teros – Val – Vector
  • Volkov – Wu Shang – Xull
  • Yumiko – Zariel

With the Midseason Championship behind us, it is time to graduate a number of the Test Features that we have been storing up! This patch includes changes to the Wall Slip mechanic, thrown weapon behavior, condensed weapon spawn locations, and even the new Tournament Map List.

Thrown Weapons

It was too easy to cover your movement with a thrown weapon and then re-grab that thrown weapon even if the opponent dodged it. Now the available window to re-grab a thrown weapon is significantly less and carries a much higher risk of being put at a weapon disadvantage.

Graduated the test feature for “Thrown weapons bounce less and despawn faster.”

Wall Slip

Wall Slip’s shorter limit forces players back on stage sooner, cuts down on wall-stalling for more quick-paced action, and provides a greater advantage for winning stage control.

Graduated Wall Slip reduction from 15 to 9 (!, !!, !!! on 5, 7, 9 air actions). Always a strict 9 (previously, it was 15 but would decrease by 1 every time you initiated the first !, and half of the missing difference would get restored each time you got knocked out. Now it’s just always 9 and you slip).

The Tournament Map List has been updated and now consists of Small Brawlhaven, Small Enigma, Miami Dome, Apocalypse, Demon Island, Spirit Realm, and Small Fortress of Lions.

The weapon spawn locations on these maps have been moved closer to center stage and lower to the ground. This funnels players closer together for more action and makes it easier to press an advantage against an opponent.

We’ve taken a second look at the “3v3” Map set. While the previous set used to mostly feature Maps reserved for 8-player games, the new Map set is much closer to the “2v2” Map set used in Ranked and Friendly 2v2. The updated Map set features:

  • Small Grumpy Temple
  • Kings Pass
  • Thundergard Stadium
  • Blackguard Keep
  • The Great Hall
  • Big Miami Dome
  • Plains of Passage
  • Crystal Temple
  • Temple Ruins
  • Small Galvan Prime
  • Spirit Realm
  • The Turtles’ Lair

We also added a “Tournament 3v3” Map set that players can select from by toggling the option in the settings screen. The Map set includes:

  • Small Grumpy Temple
  • Blackguard Keep
  • The Great Hall
  • Big Miami Dome
  • Plains of Passage
  • Spirit Realm
  • The Turtles’ Lair

The “Tournament” Map sets have been added as available sets for Timed, Strikeout, and Switchcraft custom games.

Weapons

This patch includes a variety of improvements for underperforming weapons like Greatsword, Cannon, and Katars that grant them more flexibility in accomplishing their gameplan. The Axe and Hammer have received increases in Time to Hit or risk for their primary knockout attacks to better fit their range and power, while other mid-range weapons now carry greater risk when missing their aerial heavy attacks or combo starters. Weapon throws have also received significant reductions in their reward and utility.

Axe

We have decreased the Stun of Axe Side Light and increased the Time to Hit of Axe Side Air to open a Dodge window between these two attacks. We have also shifted the Hit Window of Axe Side Air to spend more time during the lower half of the swing and less during the top half, making it easier to jump over this attack.

  • Axe Side Light: Decreased Stun from a range of 31~26 to a range of 30~25.
  • Axe Side Air: Increased Time to Hit from 16 to 17; Shifted Hit Window to favor the initial threat coverage (initial threat coverage Hit Window increased from 2 to 3; ending threat coverage Hit Window decreased from 3 to 2).

Cannon

The Cannon Side Light now has slightly greater Stun, allowing players to more reliably pursue jump escapes in most situations after landing this attack.

  • Cannon Side Light: Increased Stun from a range of 28~23 to a range of 29~24.

Gauntlets

The Gauntlets Ground Pound has received increased Recover time on miss, and decreased threat coverage on release to provide wider avenues of escape from or retaliation against this attack. We have also reduced the Ground Pound’s damage to bring it in line with its overall utility.

  • Gauntlets Ground Pound: Decreased maximum horizontal and vertical threat coverage on release; Increased total Recover time on miss from 3 Fixed/21 Variable to 7 Fixed/21 Variable; Decreased Damage from 19 to 17.

Greatsword

The Greatsword Side Opener now has a faster Time to Hit for more reliable use in punishing opponents and as a general poke. The Side Bridge and Down Bridge attacks now have faster Time to Hit for tighter Dodge windows overall, and the Down Bridge more reliably prevents jumping escapes after a Side or Neutral Opener. The Side Air and Recovery attack now have faster Time to Hit for greater ease of use, as they were previously far too slow to be used reliably at most levels of play. The Greatsword Recovery attack has also received increased Force to better fit its relatively slow Time to Hit.

  • Greatsword Side Opener: Decreased Time to Hit from 10 to 9.
  • Greatsword Side Bridge (from Neutral Opener): Decreased Time to Hit from 14 to 12.
  • Greatsword Side Bridge (from Down Opener): Decreased Time to Hit from 13 to 11.
  • Greatsword Down Bridge (from Neutral Opener): Decreased Time to Hit from 12 to 10.
  • Greatsword Down Bridge (from Side Opener): Decreased Time to Hit from 11 to 9.
  • Greatsword Side Air: Decreased Time to Hit from 19 to 16.
  • Greatsword Recovery: Decreased Time to Hit from 20 to 18; Increased Force from 75 Fixed/40 Variable to 75 Fixed/42 Variable.

Hammer

The Hammer Down Light now has increased Recover time on miss and slightly less threat coverage at the top and front of the attack for greater risk given its high reward as a combo starter. The Hammer Side Air has received an increase in Time to Hit to better match its overall range and power, as well as a decrease in Stun to prevent its use as a true combo starter at low health ranges. The Side Air’s angle of knockback is now more horizontal, resulting in less power as an off-stage spike, but greater use on stage as it wont lose force from bouncing the target on the ground as often. The Side Air’s Fixed Force has been slightly reduced to maintain its previous knockout range. The Hammer Recovery now has greater Recover time on miss, affording a wider window to counterattack this powerful vertical reversal attack.

  • Hammer Down Light: Increased Recover time on miss from 4 Fixed/20 Variable to 8 Fixed/20 Variable; Decreased maximum vertical and horizontal threat coverage.
  • Hammer Side Air: Decreased Force from a range of 60~55 Fixed/45~44 Variable to a range of 58~52 Fixed/45~44 Variable; Angle of knockback is now more horizontal; Decreased Stun from 25 to 22; Increased Time to Hit from 15 to 16.
  • Hammer Recovery: Increased Recover time on miss from 3 Fixed/22 Variable to 7 Fixed/22 Variable.

Katars

The Katar Down Air now has a faster Time to Hit and greater initial threat coverage near the user for tighter strings and more reliable connections after a close range Down Light without needing to perform the Down Air in the opposite direction. When hitting a Down Light while directly overlapping your opponent or while dashing, it is still recommended to perform your Down Air in the opposite direction. We have also reduced the Katar Recovery attack’s Time to Hit for more reliable knockout attempts from string starters and during the neutral game.

  • Katar Down Air: Decreased Time to Hit from 9 to 8; Increased threat coverage near the user at the start of the attack.
  • Katar Recovery: Decreased Time to Hit from 9 to 8.

Orb

We’ve reduced the Damage on Orb Neutral Light and Down Air to better fit their utility as relatively safe pokes during the neutral game. We have also increased the Recover time on the Orb’s Side Light and Neutral Air attacks for greater risk, given their role as combo and string starters.

  • Orb Neutral Light: Decreased Damage from 16 to 14.
  • Orb Side Light: Increased total Recover time on miss from 13 Fixed/8 Variable to 15 Fixed/8 Variable.
  • Orb Neutral Air: Increased Recover time on miss from 3 Fixed/12 Variable to 5 Fixed/12 Variable; Decreased allowed acceleration during the attack and during Recover time on miss.
  • Orb Down Air: Decreased Damage from 17 to 15.

Scythe

The Scythe Recovery and Ground Pound now have greater Recover time on miss, granting wider opportunities to punish these aerial attacks or to more reliably escape from subsequent attack attempts.

  • Scythe Recovery: Increased Recover time on miss from 0 Fixed/24 Variable to 3 Fixed/24 Variable.
  • Scythe Ground Pound: Increased Recover time from 3 Fixed/20 Variable to 6 Fixed/20 Variable.

Sword

We have increased the Sword Recovery attack’s Time to Hit and Recover time on miss to better fit its utility and ease of use, increasing its total duration and overall risk.

  • Sword Recovery: Increased Time to Hit from 9 to 11; Increased Recover time on miss from 0 Fixed/14 Variable to 2 Fixed/14 Variable.

Weapon Throw

We have decreased the Stun and greatly decreased the Damage and Force of thrown weapons, reducing the overall reward and utility of this option at most health ranges.

  • Weapon Throw: Greatly decreased velocity-based Damage and Force scaling; Decreased Stun from 17 to 15.

Legend Signatures

Several underperforming Legends have received improvements to the utility, threat coverage, or overall risk of their most iconic attacks. Other overperforming Legends have received decreased Damage or increased risk to their Signatures when used recklessly.

Ada

Ada’s Neutral Spear now has less Recover time, decreasing its overall risk as an anti-air attack. We have also increased the threat coverage of Ada’s Side Spear for more reliable use at close range.

  • Ada Neutral Spear: Decreased total Recover time from 24 to 20.
  • Ada Side Spear: Increased threat coverage near the user.

Hattori

Hattori’s Down Sword travels faster and attacks earlier on release, enabling it to be used more reliably as an evasive counterattack.

  • Hattori Down Sword: Decreased Time to Hit post-release from 9 to 7; Increased travel speed during the backflip.

Lucien

Lucien’s Down Katar now poses a greater surprise threat with less Minimum Charge time and less Time to Hit after release for an overall faster attack.

  • Lucien Down Katar: Decreased Minimum Charge time from 4 to 3; Decreased Time to Hit post-release from 19 to 17.

Mordex

Mordex Neutral Scythe now has greater Recover time on miss, slightly less threat coverage, and less Damage to bring its risk and reward closer in line with its high degree of utility from string starters and overall ease of use.

  • Mordex Neutral Scythe: Decreased threat coverage at the edges of the initial attack; Increased total Recover time on miss from 21 to 24; Decreased Damage from 25 to 23.

Munin

Munin’s Down Bow now has greater Recover time, granting a wider opportunity to punish this attack as Munin hops.

  • Munin Down Bow: Increased total Recover time from 16 to 20.

Petra

Petra’s Side Gauntlets has received increased minimum charge time and Recover time on miss, both to increase its overall risk and to afford players more time to react with a dodge. Petra’s Side Orb also has greater Recover time for the uncharged version, opening a wider window to maneuver around or punish this projectile attack.

  • Petra Side Gauntlets: Increased Minimum Charge time from 15 to 17; Increased total Recover time on miss from 22 to 24 when ending on ground, and increased from 20 to 24 when ending in air.
  • Petra Side Orb: Increased total Recover time of the uncharged version from 14 to 16.

Wu Shang

We have reduced the damage on Wu Shangs Neutral Spear, Side Spear, Neutral Gauntlets, and Down Gauntlets to better match their speed and overall utility.

  • Wu Shang Neutral Spear: Decreased Damage from 29 to 26.
  • Wu Shang Side Spear: Increased total Recover time on miss from 19 to 22.
  • Wu Shang Neutral Gauntlets: Decreased Damage from 31 to 27.
  • Wu Shang Down Gauntlets: Decreased Damage from 30 to 27.

Xull

Xull’s Side Axe and Side Cannon now have less Recover time on miss, reducing their risk to be more in line with their low priority and reach. We have also increased the Force of Xull’s Side Axe to counteract its reversing motion for earlier knockouts.

  • Xull Side Axe: Decreased total Recover time on miss from 26 to 24; Increased Force from 70 Fixed/60 Variable to 75 Fixed/66 Variable.
  • Xull Side Cannon: Decreased total Recover time on miss from 19 to 17.
