Modern Warfare Season 2 Weapons, Operators, and More Leaked

While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Season 2 isn’t set to start until February 11 next week, it seems a lot of the content included in it has been leaked — and by Activision themselves, no less. Some of the stuff that got leaked includes the Modern Warfare Season 2 weapons, Operator skins, Battle Pass and more!

Note that the leaked info for Season 2 comes directly from the Call of Duty website (via Reddit) which accidentally published the content, though it’s been pulled now. Check out the GRAU 5.56 assault rifle and the Striker 45 submachine gun (SMG).

As you can see, the GRAU is the Sig 552, and the Striker is the LWRC SMG 45 (though it looks like the UMP 45).

In addition to that, while we already know Ghost is coming in Season 2, we have our first look at him and he has a new look!

Here’s a look at one of the new Blueprints coming, as well as a look at the some of the other Operator skins set to come in the Season 2 Battle Pass (or sold per set/item):

Also of note, there will be over 80 items in the new Battle Pass, and it will once again be priced at 100 COD Points ($10); what’s more, it will feature COD Points as part of the rewards, which means that if you buy this pass, you’ll have enough points to buy the next one too (in theory, at least).

Aside from the new weapons, the other big addition to Season 2 is the confirmed inclusion of fan-favorite map, Rust.

Thanks to YouTubers Xclusive Ace, inkslasher, and eColiEspresso for some of the images included in this article.

Don’t forget, Activision mentioned that we’re going to see “entirely new experiences” set within the Modern Warfare universe at some point as well, which could very well be the long rumored battle royale mode.

Shipment not chaotic enough for you in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer? If youre’ looking for more mayhem without needing to run or walk a lot, then you’ll be getting it as the Modern Warfare Rust map has been confirmed for Season 2!

This was spotted by our fiends over at CharlieIntel where the AR (Augmented Reality) Card sent back in July 2019 has been updated, and it shows a teaser for Rust!

In case you need a reminder how chaotic Rust is, watch the video below. While the map does have cover, there’s also lots of open areas, which means that whomever pulls their ‘streaks first, usually dominates.

Season 2 of Modern Warfare is set for February 11, and we’re expecting new guns, new gameplay changes, a new Battle Pass and more to be included when the inevitable patch is rolled out.

In other Modern Warfare news, Activision has mentioned that “entirely new experiences” set within the Modern Warfare universe is incoming.

Battlefield 5 Core Gameplay Designer Moving on to Next Project

Following news that Battlefield 5 Multiplayer Producer David Sirland is moving on from the game and DICE to a new studio, it seems another core developer is moving on from Battlefield 5.

Over on Twitter, Battlefield 5 Core Gameplay Designer Florian Le Bihan (username: Drunkkz3) casually mentioned that the Lunge Mine that’s available in Chapter 6 is one of the last things he has worked on for the game.

When prodded by YouTuber DannyOnPC, Le Bihan confirmed that he’s assisting with “a few things” but that’s about it in terms of his involvement.

Note that Le Bihan has not left DICE, but rather, has moved on to another project, which we presume is the next Battlefield game that’s been confirmed for next-gen machines.

Related Battlefield Reading:

Given how active Le Bihan has been with the Battlefield 5 community on gameplay design decisions, let’s hope that doesn’t change even if he’s working on another game at the studio. If you want to see Le Bihan (who’s a former pro player) slaying people in a shooter, check out his skill in Black Ops 4 where he got accused of being a cheater for being too good.

Is this a cause for concern for Battlefield 5 players or not at all?

Activision Teases “Entirely New Experieces” Set Within Modern Warfare Universe

Last year’s Call of Duty, which was a soft reboot of the Modern Warfare saga, brought in familiar faces to the franchise, and of course, the familiar “boots on ground” multiplayer fans have been clamoring for since jetpacks outstayed their welcome.

Well, it seems we’re in for something more and something new — at least according to Activision. In last night’s quarterly earnings call, Activision Chief Operating Officer and President Coddy Johnson teased that a “new experience” that’s set within the Modern Warfare universe is incoming.

The Call of Duty franchise has never been better positioned for growth and there is more to come, including entirely new experiences within the Modern Warfare universe. – Coddy Johnson, Activision Chief Operating Officer and President

If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say this “new experience” Johnson is referring to is the long rumored battle royale mode that’s supposed to launch early this year. Heck, we even have an outline of its map already leaked in one of the patches.

If it’s not battle royale, then I don’t have a clue what it could be. That said, let’s hope the player base embraces it since we can all use “new experiences” when it comes to Call of Duty.

In other Call of Duty news, Activision has mentioned that this year’s Call of Duty game is already being playtested.

Call of Duty 2020 Is Already Being Play Tested

While we’re expecting Call of Duty 2020 to make it out sometime in late October or early November, it seems development of the game is already farther along than expected.

In Activision’s earnings call last night, Coddy Johnson, Activision Chief Operating Officer and President, mentioned that this year’s Call of Duty is already being play tested, and what’s more is generating “excitement” from those who have had chances to experience it.

In Q4 of this year, a new premium Call of Duty release, which is already generating excitement in our play tests. – Coddy Johnson, Activision Chief Operating Officer and President

Of course, this could mean a lot of things. The Call of Duty 2020 play tests could mean for the campaign (if it does have one), or for the multiplayer component.

There’s nothing concrete known about this year’s Call of Duty just yet, but rumors have pointed out that it’ll be helmed by Treyarch, and that it’ll be Black Ops 5. This rumor has seemingly been confirmed by Treyarch boss David Vonderhaar, who also confirmed that it won’t feature jetpacks. If this year’s Call of Duty is indeed being handled by Treyarch, we should be in for  treat, as the studio’s last few Call of Duty titles are so good that it ranked high in our Call of Duty multiplayer ranking list for the decade.

Are you surprised that this year’s Call of Duty is already being playtested this early on or not at all? Hopefully, this means we’ll get a few nuggest of info surface very soon.

IMPROVEMENTS

FIGHTERS

Charged Heavy Opener Adjustments

Developer’s comment: The following 3 Heroes (Conqueror, Highlander, and Shinobi) were able to attempt parrying Heavies by holding their Heavy Charges and, if the attack was feinted, cancel the Charge almost immediately. This particular option select allowed them an extremely powerful defense – but we would like them to take some risk to attempt a parry. So here, we reduced the “charged heavy option select” for all 3 of these charge heroes (Conqueror, Highlander, and Shinobi).

Conqueror

  • [Adjustment] Can now only cancel a Charged Heavy at a minimum of 233ms into the Charge (from 33ms)
  • [Adjustment] Now allowed to block in any stance 200ms in the 300ms clip when cancelling a Heavy Charge (only had defense in the current stance for the whole 300ms)

Shinobi

  • [Adjustment] Can now only cancel a Heavy Charge at a minimum of 233ms into the Charge (from 33ms)
  • [Adjustment] Now allowed to block in any stance 200ms in the 300ms clip when cancelling a Heavy Charge (used to not have the ability to)
  • [Adjustment] Can now only cancel a Heavy Charge with a Dodge at a minimum of 400ms into the Charge (up from 0ms)

Highlander

  • [Adjustment] Can now only cancel holding Heavy to go into Offensive Form at a minimum of 333ms into the Charge (from 33ms)
  • [Adjustment] Feinting Offensive Form now has 200ms of vulnerability to Guard Break (from 0ms)

FIGHT ADJUSTEMENTS

Conqueror

  • [Adjustment] Increased Charging Heavy state forward movement to 1.5m/s (from 1.25m/s).
  • [Adjustment] Increased Opener Lights forward movement to 1.50m (from 1.25m).
  • [Adjustment] Increased Infinite Top Light forward movement to 1.25m (from 1.00m).
  • [Adjustment] Increased Infinite Side Light forward movement to 1.25m (from 0.50m).

Developer’s comment: Conqueror Lights would often miss opponents, so we gave them a bit more forward movement here. On the Charged Heavy state, even though we nerfed the option select (see previous entry “Charged Heavy Opener Adjustments”), we still like Conquerors to be able to pressure opponents by Charging and holding forward – so we make it a bit faster in forward movement.

Lawbringer

  • [Adjustment] Decreased Light Riposte damage to 15 (from 20)
  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Blind Justice” damage to 30 (from 38)
  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Swift Justice” Finisher damage to 10 (from 12)
  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Impaling Charge” and “Impaling Riposte” damage to 5 (from 10)
  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Impaling Charge” and “Impaling Riposte” stamina cost to 15 (from30 stamina)

Developer’s comment: Landing “Blind Justice” is now a confirmed 40 damage (was 38+12), “Impaling Riposte” into Wall Stagger is now 35 (was 10+30), and “Impaling Charge” or “Impaling Riposte” no longer put the Lawbringer Out of Stamina after getting parried (and nearly Out of Stamina on block).

Warlord

  • [Adjustment] Increase Top Light Opener speed to 500ms (from 600ms)
  • [Adjustment] increased Forward, Left and Right Throws duration by 100ms

Berserker

  • [Adjustment] Improved the Berserker input comfort on their “Skilled Slash” parry follow-up

Kensei

  • [Adjustment] Increased “Nature’s Wrath” forward movement to 5.0m (from 4.5m)

Gladiator

  • [Adjustment] Increased Dodge Forward Light forward movement to 3.25m (from 2.75m)
  • [Adjustment] Increased “Fuscina Ictus” Revenge gain to 30 Revenge gain (from 10)

Developer’s comment: “Fuscina Ictus” was quite strong as a ganking tool when it caused 10 Revenge gain. While we want it to be a useful tool (to guarantee an ally’s Heavy attack, for example), here we set it to 30 Revenge gain, which is the value that most Melee attacks cause.

Shaolin

  • [Adjustment] Increased “Lotus Leap”, from Qi Stance, forward movement to 3.75m (from 3.0m)

Tiandi

  • [Adjustment] Forward dodge now branches to Top “Tiger Dodge” from 100ms-400ms (from 100ms-300ms). Top “Dragon Dodge” was and still is 200ms-400ms.
  • [Adjustment] Zone Attack now has a stamina cost of 30 on the first strike, 10 on the second, and 10 for feinting.
    • Zone Attack: 40 stamina cost (from 60)
    • Zone Attack Feint: 50 stamina cost (from 60)
    • Zone Attack Cancel into Dragon Kick: 60 stamina cost (from 80)

Developer’s comment: Tiandi uses quite a lot of Stamina to perform the Zone Attack and its branchings, which prevents Tiandi from utilizing this attack to strike below half of the Stamina bar (or even 2/3rds if you are in a group fight and want to threaten a ledge with a Dragon Kick). This new change reduces Tiandi’s Stamina Cost for all Zone Attack options, which we expect will increase the scenarios in which it is useful.

Nuxia

  • [Adjustment] Improved the Nuxia input comfort on their “Mirror Raid” Parry Punishes

Black Prior

  • [Adjustment] Increased “Tenebris Thrust” forward movement to 3.75 (from 3.25m)

Hitokiri

  • [Adjustment] Forward, Left, Right Throws now push the opponent 0.25m further than before
  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Mangetsu” damage to 28 damage (from 30)

Developer’s comment: We already reduced the “Endless Myriad” uncharged Heavies to 28 (were 30) in Patch 2.15.0. The intention was to increase the number of attacks a Hitokiri needs to kill an opponent (especially at the 120 HP level of many opponents). While this appears to have reduced the overall Win Rate for Full Population in Duel and Dominion somewhat, Hitokiri is still performing at the top of the pack (and is performing in tournament play as well). This suggests that we should apply the same change to the “Mangetsu” Openers to have them also slightly less effective (especially at that 120 HP level).

Jormungandr

  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Jotunn Surge” stamina damage to 35 (from 40)
  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Jotunn Farewell” stamina damage to 45 (from 55)
  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Jotunn Gift” stamina damage to 40 (from 45)
  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Jotunn Grudge” stamina damage to 10 (from 15)
  • [Adjustment] Decreased “Hamarr’s Favor” shield to 40 (from 45)

Developer’s comment: In our Year 3: Season 3 Survey, players identified the Stamina Damage and the “Hamarr’s Favor” shield value as the most frustrating attributes on the Jormungandr. When comparing to the Full Population Win Rates for Duel, our expectation is that this should reduce this frustration aspect, and the Duel Win Rate. We also expect that the Full Population Win Rate for Dominion shouldn’t be negatively affected. While we recognize that the Jormungandr is not performing at a tournament level, here we expect to improve the experience for opponents in a Full Population environment.

  • [Adjustment] Wall Stagger on Throws now occurs 100ms later
  • [Adjustment] Side Heavy Finisher Wall Stagger occurs 300ms later

Developer’s comment: Wall Staggers now always guarantee Top Heavy Opener (even if the Jormungandr has to change Stance). Before, at certain timings and distances the Jormungandr couldn’t land any Heavy.

FEATS

Stun Trap / Qi Trap / Bear Trap / Fire Trap / Nail Bomb

  • [Adjustment] All traps now visually appear above the ground (instead of under it)

Haymaker

  • [Adjustment] Decreased Haymaker damage to 5 (from 10).

Developer’s comment: With the Gladiator now dealing Haymaker damage with “Fuscina Ictus” and with the possibility of 30 damage Zone Attacks from Heavy Parries, we hope to tone down the damage output potential with these changes. Centurion is also a Hero we’re keeping an eye on with these nerfs, as we expect the future fight improvements on the Hero would be best matched with a 5 damage Haymaker.

CUSTOM MATCH

  • We changed the Custom Match menu structure. Former Rules and Options are now regrouped under a same page and can be changed when selecting a Game Mode

CUSTOMIZATION

  • [Adjustment] Improved the player expression of the Kensei to make outfits look better

In the three-minute video, we get to see Crystal Dynamics talk about the Hulk’s powers (as well as a brief showcase of it via gameplay), as well as how this game’s Bruce Banner is different from what we’ve seen before.

While there’s no demo or new footage for Marvel’s Avengers, there is a prequel comic that gives us more details surrounding the game.

For those interested in the multiplayer aspect of the game, check out some of the cusomization elements in this gameplay video.

Originally set for a May 15, 2020 release, Marvel’s Avengers is now scheduled to be available on September 4, 2020 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Rainbow Six Siege Registered Players Over 55 Million, Daily Average Revenue Per User Reaches New Peak

Ubisoft has released its third-quarter 2019-2020 earnings report, and it mentions how Rainbow Six Siege, a game that’s now in its sixth year, is still pulling in players both new and veterans alike, and the Rainbow Six Siege registered players count is sitting at over 55 million!

As part of its report, Ubisoft announced the 55-million figure, as well as announcing that this past December, Rainbow Six Siege reached a record-high when it comes to MAUs (monthly active users)!

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Siege:

  • Over 55 million registered players
  • Record-high MAUs² for a month of December
  • Acceleration of PRI1 growth in the third fiscal quarter
    • New peak in DARPU²
  • Ranked 7th most impactful PC game by The Esports Observer (calendar Q3 2019)

Those curious, “PRI” stands for Player Recurring Investment, which is a fancier way of saying players buying digital stuff (ie: microtransactions).  As for DARPU, it means “Daily Average Revenue Per User,” which translates to: Ubisoft is cashing ’em in!

Aside from the fantastic business the shooter is bringing in, the publisher has been fantastic when it comes to post-launch support so far, with the latest game update just hitting consoles and PC a week ago.

Surprised at the results or not at all given how well Ubisoft has dished out post-launch support for the game?

Xbox’s Real Competition Are Amazon and Google Says Phil Spencer

Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft’s gaming division discusses the future of Xbox with technology publication Protocol, stating that both Nintendo and Sony won’t be the company’s primary competition going forward as they look to cloud gaming.

It’s no surprise hearing this come from Microsoft, as over the last decade the company has invested billions in cloud services that’ll be used for upcoming projects, and integrated into the next-generation of Xbox. While both Sony and Nintendo have proved to be giant obstacles for Microsoft, there is one area that they have over them as of now, and that’s their Azure cloud services.  It’s for this reason that Phil Spencer believes that both Amazon and Google will be their primary competitors as those companies have invested just as many resources going into their own cloud services.

“When you talk about Nintendo and Sony, we have a ton of respect for them, but we see Amazon and Google as the main competitors going forward,” Spencer told Protocol. “That’s not to disrespect Nintendo and Sony, but the traditional gaming companies are somewhat out of position. I guess they could try to re-create Azure, but we’ve invested tens of billions of dollars in cloud over the years. I don’t want to be in a fight over format wars with those guys while Amazon and Google are focusing on how to get gaming to 7 billion people around the world. Ultimately, that’s the goal.”

Phil did state that Microsoft would be willing to cooperate with both Nintendo and Sony on allowing gamers to play with and against one another, though didn’t expand further on this. We should note we wrote up a report last year about Sony and Microsoft striking a partnership to improve cloud gaming, so this cooperation could very well be underway.

This news has certainly stirred up a lot of talk on the internet, we would love to hear what you guys think about this.

Battlefield 5 Crocodile Easter Egg Spotted, Watch It in Action

With yesterday’s big Battlefield 5 patch, not only did we get a new map, a few new weapons, gameplay fixes and the like, but it seems that a new Battlefield 5 crocodile Easter egg was also part of the package!

Spotted in the Chapter 6 new map Solomon Islands is a crocodile named “Max” and shared on the Battlefield 5 subreddit!

The crocodiles name is Max on the new map 😳😳🤯
byu/Nortgron inBattlefieldV

Max the Crocodile is apparently the pet of Senior Designer Niklas Astrand who advises people to not shoot it, nor get too close.

If you think Max is just there for show, think again! Come close enough to it, and it’ll gnaw at you and deal damage! Check it out below.

https://twitter.com/BF_ShOoTeR_85/status/1224781308821413897

Yep, definitely don’t get too close lest you want to deduct a ticket to your team’s side by way of a crocodile chomping!

I admit, this brings back memories of Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 dinosaur Easter eggs. Of course, this one is a lot less smaller, and with less fanfare, but it’s appreciated all the same.

In other Battlefield news, don’t forget that the Chapter 6 Rank rewards are already available now for everyone!

If you spot any other Easter eggs in Battlefield V, don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll credit you for the find!
