Here’s the Hitman 2 February Roadmap

If you’re looking forward to more killings and cool assassinations in Hitman 2 this month, IO Interactive has released the Hitman 2 February roadmap, which lists down the new stuff players will be tackling this month!

Featured Contracts

We will hand-pick 10 Contracts from the Official Submission Thread on Hitman Forum and they will be added to the game for everyone to play on February 6th. This month’s theme is ‘Lost Love’ to signify February as the month of love, at least in some quarters. As a reminder, the themes are purposefully open-ended to give our creators a chance to stamp their own interpretation of the theme onto their contracts. You have until February 3rd to get your submission in!

Elusive Target Reactivation

The Revolutionary is back! Vicente Murillo will be patrolling Santa Fortuna once more for 10 days. As this is a reactivated Elusive Target, it’s worth reminding that if you’ve already completed or failed this Elusive Target, your record will stand and you won’t be able to play it again.

Curated Contracts

In addition to Featured Contracts, we have also got a community curator lined up to pick some of their favourite contracts and have them included in the game. We’ll also be giving them some room on the blog to tell us why they chose the contracts. The Curator for February will be Frote7, who is a well-known member of the community for his knowledge of the game, especially with regards to speedrunning.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Next Update Patch Notes Revealed

Star Wars Battlefront 2 players, DICE is set to release the Star Wars Battlefront 2 next update very, very soon! This will be the first patch for the game this year, and as previously mentioned, will include gameplay changes, and even new heroes!

Below are the patch notes for next week’s update, which will get a firm release date by Monday per DICE.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 next update patch notes:

FEATURES

  • Two new Heroes, BB-8 for the Resistance and BB-9E for the First Order, are now available.
  • Supremacy and Instant Action are now available on new Planets (Takodana, Jakku, Ajan Kloss).
  • Added new Capital Ship interior maps, the MC85 Star Cruiser and the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer, as part of the Supremacy game mode on the new planets.
  • Hero Showdown is now available on Ajan Kloss.
  • New emotes have been added for Finn (Thumbs Up) and Kylo Ren (Showdown), unlockable via milestones.

QUALITY OF LIFE

  • Added era selection to Supremacy, including the option for matchmaking into any game.
  • Droideka units are added as AI players on Co-Op and Instant Action.

Hit Markers
We created unique hit markers from the attacker´s point of view for explosive damage and for melee damage/other. This will allow you to more clearly see if you are dealing splash damage or if you are hitting your target directly. In the case where you hit a target with an explosive bullet, you will see both the normal hit indicator plus the new explosive damage hit indicator. This change allowed us to fix an issue where explosive bullet headshots did not show the yellow headshot indicator.

Finally, we removed an obsolete feature where each hit indicator would turn grey if your absolute amount of damage was below a certain hard threshold.

Explosive Damage Reduction
Some game effects can cause you to take less explosive damage from grenades, explosive bullets, and other explosive damage sources. This includes the Bodyguard Star Card and the protective area when in Sentry mode. We have now added the same in-game messaging for this that we use for normal damage reduction.

This means that when you deal explosive damage to an enemy that takes reduced explosion damage, you will see a red animated shield icon emanate from that hit. To distinguish between explosion damage reduction and normal damage reduction, we have created a unique icon for explosion damage reduction that looks like four small dots and can be superimposed onto the already existing shield icon that we display above enemies´ heads. We are also using these two icons near your own health bar to show you that you have been buffed by one or both of these effects.

Incoming Explosive Damage Origin
Some explosives that detonate immediately on impact have been changed to point at the attacker instead of at the center of the explosion, making it easier for victims to know where the danger is coming from.

Changed explosives include: Impact Grenade, Boba’s Rocket Barrage, AT-ST Barrage, Rocket Launcher, AT-ST Anti-Vehicle Rocket, Leia´s alt fire, ARC Trooper Power Shot, Bermuda Cop Quarrel Bolts, B2 Rocket Launcher.

Flame Trooper Range UI.
It is difficult to know the range of the Flame Trooper´s flamethrower. We are alleviating this by adding a UI element that shows the flamethrower range briefly when you start firing it.

HERO CHANGES

  • Added ability crosshair for Kylo Ren’s Frenzy and Emperor Palpatine’s Chain Lighting.
  • Fixed an issue that would not allow Darth Maul and Darth Vader to throw their lightsaber during a voice line action.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause some of the abilities of Luke Skywalker, Darth Maul and Yoda to affect enemies through objects.
  • Fixed an issue that would prevent players from getting Kill Assists for multiple buff abilities that helped allies killing an enemy.
  • UI range for various abilities is now white when it affects enemies, and yellow when it affects friendly players.
  • Intro animations for Heroes in the Spawn and Frontend Screen have been improved.

GENERAL GRIEVOUS

  • Fixed an issue that would cause General Grievous to drain too much stamina from an opposing player when using Unrelenting Advance.

REY

  • Fixed an issue where Rey’s Mind Trick would not apply VFX vignette around the screen of the affected player.

DARTH VADER

  • Darth Vader is now able to attack and block while choking.
  • Fixed an issue where Darth Vader would remain stuck in the choke animation if he used Choke and dash immediately after.

EMPEROR PALPATINE

  • Removed slow movement on Dark Aura.
  • Reduced single-hand damage from 15 to 14.
  • Reduced double-hand damage from 32 to 28.
  • Reduced Chain Lightning radius from 26.25 meters to 18 meters.
  • Various visual improvements to the Dark Aura VFX, including fixing an issue where the ability would affect visibility for teammates.
  • Reduced Emperor Palpatine’s damage against the TX-130.
  • Fixed an issue where Chain Lightning could occasionally go through blocking.

ANAKIN SKYWALKER

  • Pressure star card – reduced value from 10-20-30-40 to 10-15-20-25.
  • Reduced Passionate Strike first strike damage on troopers and reinforcements from 130 to 70.
  • Reduced Passionate Strike damage on troopers and reinforcements from 250 to 180.
  • Reduced the base damage of Heroic Impact to troopers and reinforcements from 120 to 100.
  • Massive Strikes Star card – Anakin Skywalker deals more damage with his lightsaber attack but his stamina costs are increased.

COUNT DOOKU

  • Added a yellow circle around the crosshair to show when Dooku has a critical hit available with his Initiative Star Card.

YODA

  • Fixed an issue where Yoda’s Presence would not display the right amount of friendly characters who will be affected.
  • Fixed an issue where the intended effects from Yoda’s Presence ability would not apply, if the ability was used in mid-air.
  • Fixed an issue where users could receive a jumping advantage while using abilities in mid-air.

LUKE SKYWALKER

  • Fixed an issue where users could receive a jumping advantage while using the Push ability in mid-air.

IDEN VERSIO

  • Fixed an issue where Iden’s Droid Shield could not be manually deactivated.

FINN

  • Fixed an issue with Finn’s “A Fight You Can Win” milestone not tracking progress in Co-Op when eliminating First Order troopers.

HAN SOLO

  • Increased damage to troopers for the Shoulder Charge ability from 150 to 200.

BOSSK

  • We timed the UI elements of Bossk´s Proximity Mines to reflect the moment when they actually become armed, i.e. the moment when they can start to detect enemies in its vicinity. Now, when you see the yellow radius circles appear around the mines, you know that they have become armed. This will also make it easier to experience the improvement to their arming speed that the Star Card Trap Arming Speed brings.
  • Fixed an issue where Bossk would throw only three functional proximity mines, while having the Multi-Traps Star Card equipped.
  • Fixed an issue where the Active Time of Bossk´s ability Predator Instincts was ending before intended.

GAME MODE AND MAP CHANGES

  • Removed requirement for new matchmaking after each round in Blast, Strike, Extraction, HVV, Hero Showdown.

SUPREMACY

  • Two random Command Posts are assigned to each team every time players return to the Ground phase during Supremacy.
  • Added visible information to better connect the additional time granted in the Ship phase, based on the number of players who boarded during the Boarding phase.
  • Fixed an issue where spawning on several command posts while they were being contested in Kamino – Supremacy would spawn the characters out-of-bounds.
  • Fixed an issue that would prevent AI players in Kamino – Supremacy from reaching Command Post E.
  • Fixed a visual UI where the widget showing which Command Post is being captured or contested is misplaced.

CO-OP

  • Fixed an issue that could occasionally cause Co-Op players to matchmake on the wrong side or not be able to spawn into the game.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause certain AI enemies to suddenly disappear on Co-Op during phase transitions.
  • Fixed an issue where the minimap on Co-Op would not indicate squadmates that are spawned on the map and far away from the player.
  • Fixed an issue where the timer between phases on Co-Op would disappear if the character went Out-Of-Bounds and returned to the combat area.
  • Fixed a visual issue with the mark objective UI overlapping with the Command Post capture progress bar on Co-Op.
  • Fixed an issue that would not clear AI players during outros on Co-Op.

INSTANT ACTION

  • Fixed visual UI issues with the capturing area of Command Posts being displayed off-center on Instant Action across various maps.

EWOK HUNT

  • Fixed an issue that could cause players to join an existing game of Ewok Hunt too late.

STRIKE

  • Disallowed the First Order Jet Trooper to pick up the Strike objective, as that could lead to that character winning the game too quickly.
  • Fixed an issue on Naboo, where the capture shows would show up as red, rather than blue on the mini-map.

HEROES VS. VILLAINS

  • Fixed an issue that could cause a game of Heroes Versus Villains to immediately end after the intro cinematic.
  • Fixed a visual UI issue where the squad interface would be present on Heroes Vs. Villains.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Anakin’s Passionate Strike to hit in the last place it was used.

FELUCIA

  • Fixed an issue where the living world snails on Felucia would have no collision against bullets.

MAP CHANGES

  • Fixed various collision and visual issues on Ajan Kloss, Jakku, Crait, Felucia, Kashyyyk, Yavin, Starkiller Base, Geonosis, and Takodana.
  • Fixed areas that could be exploited by jetpack-wearing characters on Hoth, Jakku, and the Republic Attack Cruiser.
  • Made various adjustments on the Co-Op map on Jakku.

CHANGES TO CLASSES AND SPECIAL UNITS

  • Fixed an issue where crosshairs would not dim when using Flame Grenade or Sonic Imploder.

OVISSIAN GUNNER

  • Implemented spool up functionality for the Ovissian Gunner: Hold Zoom to spool up the weapon so that it’s ready to fire immediately when you find a target. We also updated the crosshairs to visually show that you need to spool up before you can fire and added a tutorial pop-up to remind you about the new spool up functionality as you equip your weapon.

CAPHEX SPY

  • Fixed an issue where the Stalker Star Card would not give the correct value for the Caphex Spy.
  • Fixed an issue where the Caphex Spy milestone “Death from above” would not track eliminations done with the Scanner Beacon.
  • Increased the length of the Rapid Fire ability.

ASSAULT

  • Made the Vanguard ability quicker to un-deploy the weapon when the ability is out of time.

SPECIALIST

  • Made the Infiltration ability quicker to un-deploy the weapon when the ability is out of time.

OFFICER

  • Made the Officer´s Battle Command ability 360 degrees instead of a forward-facing cone to allow for more effortless team play. With this change, we also reduced the radius of the ability, since you can now easily buff friends all around you.
  • Officer Scoring
  • Reduced the amount of score you get for kill assists when you have buffed a friend with your Battle Command ability who later kills an enemy.
  • Adjusted VFX on target weapons during the Officer’s disruption.

HEAVY

  • Tweaked the Heavy Trooper´s Sentry abilities to be more in line with the Ovissian Gunner, in some respects.

We implemented the Ovissian Gunner´s spool up functionality (also introduced in this update) on all Sentry versions as well: Hold Zoom to spool up the weapon so that it is ready to fire immediately when you find a target.

To complement this change, we increased the spool up time required on all versions of Sentry to match that of the Ovissian Gunner. This means that the initial cost in time to go into Sentry and fire your first shot is increased, but once spooled up, you have a better tactical situation than previously.

We also removed the passive timer while in Sentry, so that you have more control over the number of shots you can fire while in each version of Sentry.

Note that while fully spooled up, you will drain a small amount of time from the ability´s total, but this drain will only deplete up to 80% of your total available time.

Finally, we updated the crosshairs to visually show that you need to spool up before you can fire and added a tutorial popup to remind you about the new spool-up functionality as you equip any of these weapons.

BODYGUARD IMPROVEMENT

  • We further increased the effectiveness of the Bodyguard Star Card. This Star Card will now protect all Trooper classes from a Thermal Detonator starting already at the Common level.

FIRST ORDER JET TROOPER

  • Implemented a feature where the First Order Jet Trooper automatically gets spotted on scanners while flying with the jetpack.

DEATH TROOPER

  • Reduced normal max health from 350 to 320 to bring it closer to other Enforcers and to help bring its high K/D ratio closer to the other Enforcers.

COMMANDO DROID

  • The Commando Droid AI is now evading by dashing, instead of combat rolling.

DROIDEKA

  • Increased Shield Health from 550 to 600.
  • Gave Droideka 50% damage reduction while in Wheel Form.

B2-RP

  • Spot self when activating jetpack (same as for other Aerials).

SITH TROOPER

  • Increased the fire rate of the Sith Trooper’s weapon.

AT-ST

  • Corrected damage scaling for the Improved Weapon Systems Star Card (the numbers were slightly off)
  • Slightly reduced damage of the Anti-Vehicle Missile – total damage for the impact plus the splash damage should now start at 300 (without Star Card) and end at 420 (with the above Star Card at Epic)

AI PLAYERS

  • Fixed an issue that would allow the AI to fire and use their abilities when they should not, such as when evading or being stunned.
  • AI Troopers and Reinforcements can now perform melee attacks.

GENERAL CHANGES/MISC

  • Characters are now getting into movement faster when getting up after a push effect.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the Armor class Star Cards to occasionally shuffle while browsing the Front End menu.
  • VO announcers will now mention the era-appropriate heroes that spawn in maps.
  • Added information to show what faction a player is matchmaking into in Supremacy and Co-Op.
  • Fixed a visual issue where choosing a specific era tile on Co-Op, would show all tiles as searching for a game.
  • Fixed an issue where users could not access the social hub from the Co-Op matchmaking menu.
  • Fixed an issue where the Play Any button would stop working if a user would first try to matchmake through a tile and then cancel matchmaking.
  • Raised limit for collection of in-game Credits and Crystals to one billion.
  • Fixed an issue that would claim certain milestone rewards to be delivered by a crate, over being unlocked automatically.
  • Fixed a visual UI issue with the defeat message overlapping with the gun cooldown UI.
  • Fixed a visual issue with the Searching animation on the Frontend tiles.
  • Fixed a typo in one of the loading screen hint messages.

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Visual streaming issues can be noticed when first transporting to the capital ships on Jakku, Takodana and Ajan Kloss.
  • An issue is preventing audio from being played when previewing the BB-8 and BB-9E emotes in the Frontend menu.

World War Z Next Update Hitting Next Week, Inlcudes New Character Skins (Update)

Saber Interactive has announced that the World War Z next update is set for release next week! This will be the zombie action game’s first game update of 2020, and while there’s no new meaty content to go along with it, there changes inbound.

Update (2/4/20): If you’re seeing this on Google, the patch is live and here are the patch notes!

This was announced by Saber Interactive over on Twitter, where the studio also announced the Professionals character skin DLC, as well as improvements to the Horde mode content released back in December, where players can expect quicker, more intense rounds. With the harder difficulty, Saber Interactive is offering more rewards for players.

Modern Warfare Upcoming Playlist: Infinity Ward Teases Separate Shoot House & Shipment 24/7

Are you missing Shoot House being taken out of its own 24/7 playlist in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Maybe you’d rather be playing Shipment 24/7 instead (which is what we have now)? If you’d rather have both, well, it seems we’re going to have just that in a Modern Warfare upcoming playlist update.

This was teased by Infinity Ward in this week’s Community Update:

Here’s what’s coming next week to Modern Warfare…

We’re planning a few things for next week, like a some 2v2 Grind action maybe? OR….maybe a playlist for Shipment 24/7 AND a playlist for Shoot House 24/7? Hm…

We’ve also got some XP events planned, like 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, AND 2X Tiers, so keep an eye out for when these go live next week!

In addition to that, the studio has reminded people how to sort through the errors and bugs brought on by the big 1.13 patch. If you got an error prompt and saw your Combat Record reset, this issue should have been sorted out by now. If not, you can reach out to Activision Suppport on Twitter so they can sort it out.

If you’re stuck with the “Specs Ops download loop” issue on PS4, check the Activision support website or check out our fix straight from the community.

We’re probably not going to get an actual patch next week aside from a server-side playlist update, but once that’s live, we’ll be sure to let our readers know so they can soak in all that Shoot House 24/7 goodness.

Apex Legends Expanding to New Platforms, Daily Player Count Higher in S3 Than S2

During EA’s quarterly earnings call late last night, EA talked about some of the company’s most recent succesful gaming properties and that of course, included Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends.

In the call, EA mentioned that they are expanding the Apex universe with “more ways to play and watch,” and that the plan is to have the free-to-play battle royale game be on more platforms by fiscal year (FY) 2021.

We’re also expanding the Apex universe with more ways to play and watch. We have plans to reach more platforms in FY 2021 and there’s a lot of excitement in the esports community for the Apex Legends global series that is now underway. We’re pleased to have Lenovo as an official sponsor for Apex competitive gaming joining Gillette, Snickers, Pizza Hut and other major brands and broadcast networks partnering with us on our esports portfolio. – Andrew Wilson, EA Chief Executive Officer

In the same call, Wilson revealed that in terms of player activity, Season 3 was bigger than Season 2 in terms ofdaily active user numbers.

It’s nearly one year since we took the industry by storm with Apex Legends and the strength and opportunity of this IP and live service continued to grow. That’s definitely comforting to hear if you’re an Apex Legends fan, no? Of course, the same can’t be said for those looking forward to Titanfall 3.

What’s a Xûr?

Xûr, Agent of the Nine, is a strange vendor who randomly appears in a Public Sector in each of the Worlds, depending on the current Flashpoint. Xûr sells Exotic equipment and only takes Legendary Shards in exchange for them.

TL;DR: He’s the Santa Claus of Destiny and every weekend is Christmas. Sometimes he brings you what you want, sometimes he brings you coal. Mostly it’s coal.

SMITE Update 11.29 Goes Out, Includes Fixes

While we just got the big Season 7 patch for SMITE earlier this week, and a new one yeseterday, Hi-Rez Studios has once again released yet another new SMITE update today! This one is called SMITE update 11.29, and has been rolled out to fix crashes and more.

SMITE update 11.29 patch notes:

–Items builder crashing clients
–[Gamepad] Kali sometimes losing all controller functionality
–[Gamepad] The Morrigan Ult pre-selection functionality not working entirely
–[Console] Unable to purchase individual Odyssey items

And that’s basically it. Having said that, it’s definitely a good move by Hi-Rez to constantly release patches to fix nagging issues instead of waiting for new microtransaction elements before fixing something. Of course, there is the Odyssey items fix that most likely could have factored in this decision, but it’s appreciated nonetheless.

Death Stranding January 31 Update Brings the Game to Version 1.10

Kojima Productions has rolled out a new patch for action-exploration game Death Stranding. This Death Stranding  January 31 update doesn’t include any new content, but it does have bug fixes, and quality of life (QOL) update that should please players. Clocking in at just 1GB, you can check out the full Death Stranding January 31 update patch notes below.

  • Various performance improvements
  • BT Encounter Warning Setting
    • Can be changed from the Title Screen in “Options” – “Game Settings” – “BT Encounter Warning.”

And that’s basically it. Will we see a Death Stranding expansion? Your guess is as good as mine at this point. If you don’t have a PS4, don’t fret! Death Stranding will be coming to PC in “Summer 2020.”

The game also managed to crack the MP1st Top 10 Games of 2019, too! So give that a read to understand why a lot of players like the game. We’re slowly shifting coverage of single-player focused titles over to SP1st. so don’t be surprised to see more coverage of the game go down over there.

Doom Eternal Won’t Feature a Paid Battle Pass Nor In-Game Store

Last week we reported on news of Doom Eternal potentially featuring a Battle Pass system and boosters that we assumed would be purchasable. While details behind said battle pass and booster systems are still unknown, fans in the least will be happy to learn it’ll all be free.

In an email sent from Bethesda, the company’s representative confirmed that the game wouldn’t feature in-game store purchases.

“There’s no store In Doom Eternal. There’s no paid Battle Pass in the game either. You play the game, earn XP, and unlock cool cosmetics. That’s it.”

As for the boosters, in a follow-up email we sent, the Bethesda representative stated he couldn’t comment around the details as to what they were since they’ve yet to speak about them, though did confirm with us that there is nothing about them being tied to being paid for. We will be sure to update you all as this develops, and we do expect to hear from the studio very soon with how their free battle pass system will work.

On a personal note, this is certainly great news to hear. As much as people feel we shouldn’t praise studios and publishers for not including microtransactions, with how today’s market has been going and how it feels with these companies wanting to try and squeeze every ounce of money that they can, I don’t see much of a problem providing positive praise.

Next Battlefield Game Confirmed for Next-Gen, EA Mum on Vince Zampella’s Involvement

In today’s EA quarterly earnings call, not a lot of news was revealed regarding the next Battlefield game, but we know one thing for sure: it’s headed to PS5 and Xbox Series X — which is kind of a given, but a good confirmation nonetheless.

We expect growth to accelerate in fiscal 2022 as we leveraged the growing base of next-generation consoles with the launch of a new Battlefield. This is on top of the launches of FIFA 22 and Madden NFL 22 plus new and ongoing live services and other titles. – Blake Jorgensen – Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer

While the nect Battlefield game hitting next-gen is a lock now, what we’re still unsure of is whether newly appointed DICE LA boss Vince Zampella (Respawn Entertainment studio boss) will be involved with the game or IP at all.

Financial analyst Drew Crum of Stifel asked whether Vince Zampella would be involved, and EA gave a rather vague and non-committal answer.

Drew Crum:with some of the management changes you’ve made at DICE and I guess specifically Vince becoming the Director of the LA office, how involved will he in Respawn be with the development of the next Battlefield game? Thanks.

Here’s what EA CEO Andrew Wilson had to say:

Good question on Vince and Battlefield V. You might recall that we announced that Vince was leading a creative council for the organization. What this creative council does it kind of operates like a brain trust like was happening at Pixar and really brings creative leaders across the company together to review and comment, be constructive, and help and provide insight across the broad set of creative initiatives that we have going on.

And Vince is very proactive in that and very involved in that and that’s having a tremendous impact across the company and helping us drive this kind of aligned focused push against both quality and execution.

With him taking on DICE LA, traditionally DICE LA have been supporting DICE Stockholm, but they have a great creative team there and great creative leadership and have also been incubating some other things and we’re very excited about those things and Vince will be deeply involved in those as he takes on leadership of that.

And then with the leadership change that we made in Stockholm, we’ve got really strong traction against the next Battlefield game. I’m really — I talked about this last call. I’m really excited about what that team is doing. And David Rota who is leading the studios in Europe now is also having a really strong impact and the team is going to do some pretty amazing things. – Andrew Wilson, EA CEO

Yep, that’s a lot of words for something that neither confirmed or denied Zampella’s involvement. That said, I wouldn’t be shocked if Zampella and the DICE LA crew did help out with the next Battlefield game, or developed their own spin-off of it. Or maybe, fully revive a dormant first-person IP like Medal of Honor?

I admit, the thought of the former Infinity Ward boss helping to make a military shooter is a very intriguing prospect.

The Division 2 Episode 3 New Specialization, Weapons & More Detailed

While we’ve already gotten a trailer for The Division 2 Episode 3, and even some of the changes coming after it, we have something more interesting to share today, and that’s The Division 2 Episode 3 new Specialization, weapons and more!

In yesterday’s State of the Game developer stream, Ubisoft Massive talked a bit about some of the content coming to Episode 3. We already know the missions and other stuff, but there’s a lot more included in this free DLC.

The Division 2 Episode 3 New Weapons:

New Weapon – Honey Badger

As Seen in the trailer, the Honey Badger will be added to the game as a normal weapon.

New Exotic – Chameleon

The new Exotic is an assault rifle that revolves around three buffs. These buffs are not exclusive, so you can build them up at the same time and then it is all about timing to activate and stack all the three buffs.

It also changes its color depending on your environment and the source of the weapon is a surprise as of now.

Talents

Adaptive Instincts

  • Hitting 30 headshots grants +20% critical hit chance and +50% critical hit damage for 45 seconds.
  • Hitting 60 body shots grant +100% weapon damage for 45 seconds.
  • Hitting 30 leg shots grants +150% reload speed for 45 seconds.

Overlap

  • While holstered, gain +5% weapon handling.

The Division 2 Episode 3 New Specialization – Firewall

The Flamethrower has been on the board for quite some time as something they wanted to explore – also because it is not something that you would expect to be in the arsenal of a Division Agent. They also wanted to add it to the game for quite some time, but it took time to develop and with Episode 3 and the return of the Cleaners it was a perfect fit to add it now.

Concept

The basic idea about the Firewall Specialization is to go up-close and personal. Obviously, the flamethrower has a limited range (about 15 meters) and that feels quite close in the game, but there are also some very cool synergies with the Skills.

K8-JetStream Flamethrower Signature Weapon

The Firewall is equipped with the K8-JetStream Flamethrower Signature Weapon. The Flamethrower ensures that you can take on enemies up close by firing an arc of flame dealing fire damage and applying the burn effect to enemies caught in its radius.

New Skill Variant

With Firewall Specialization you get a new Skill Variant for the Shield that allows you to use your Flamethrower and the shield at the same time. This shield combo allows you to get close to the enemies and deal damage at the same time.

The new Striker Shield Variant will also give the allies that are taking cover behind you a damage buff depending on how many enemies are in a cone in front of you. So basically, when you have the shield equipped, you see a cone on the ground and the more enemies you have in that cone, the bigger the damage buff is that your allies get.

This can, of course, be combined with the team buffs, that give your team members in close proximity a damage buff.

Team Buffs

  • The Firewall Tactical Link gives a 10% damage buff to all team members that are within a 10-meter distance.
  • Bull Rush +50% Bonus Armor during cover to cover moves – Image

Damage Talents

  • Fiery Response – On armor break, apply burn to enemies within 5m (This should give you some protection when you get flanked while using the shield) – Image
  • Enriched Magnesium Formula – 10%/20%/30%/40%/50% increased Burn duration

Support Talents

  • Frontline Recovery – 10%/20%/ 30% Health on Kill

Handgun

The assigned handgun is a double-barrel shotgun that applies a debuff to enemies that increases the flammability.

Primer Round

Damaged enemies lose 50% burn resistance for 5 seconds.

This becomes especially useful when you encounter enemies that are immune to burn. One-shot and they can be lit on fire with any tool in your arsenal.

Grenade

The dedicated grenade of this Specialization is the “Cluster Grenade”.

The Cluster Grenade launches mini grenades that detonate in a large area of effect.

Weapon Mod

The dedicated weapon mod is a Tactical Short Grip for the underbarrel slot and it gives +10% Critical Hit Damage.

Armor Kit

Since the whole concept of this Specialization is about close encounters, the Armor Kit also supports that by giving you constant healing over 10 seconds:

The dedicated Armor Kit of this specialization recovers 200% armor and 200% health over 10 seconds.

Special Field Research

Similar to the Special Field Research for previous Year 1 Specializations, you will need to take on five stages of in-game challenges that each have their specific set of objectives and rewards. Once you have completed all the stages, you unlock access to the Firewall Specialization, adding the K8-Jetstream Flamethrower to your repertoire of powerful Signature Weapons.

If you own the Year 1 Pass, you will instantly unlock the Firewall Specialization. You still have the option to take on the Special Field Research, but as you progress through each stage of challenges you can unlock additional, exclusive cosmetic rewards such as the Firewall Safety Helmet, Shirt, Pants, and Mask. Additionally, you can collect the Caldera and Basalt Weapon skins, Lava Lake and Tremor Gear dyes and the Mundane Signature Weapon Skin.

FAQ

  • Since Pass holders get immediate access to the specialization, doesn’t this create a gameplay advantage?

    Specializations have abilities and specialized weapons tailored to specific playstyles. Though Year 1 Pass owners will have the benefit of instant access to new Specializations, all players will be able to unlock them through gameplay. All Specializations have different strengths and weaknesses and appeal to different playstyles and tactical situations. The new Specializations will offer the same tier of power as other Specializations.

  • Is Year 1 Pass the only option to instantly access the specialization and earning the cosmetic rewards?

    Players interested in the Firewall Specialization access and earnable cosmetic rewards, can either secure it through the Year 1 Pass, or purchase a Firewall ‘Specialization Pack’ for Premium Credits on the in-game store. This entitles them to the same benefits for the Firewall Specialization.

  • Can I still get the cosmetic rewards if I start the Specialization Field Research without the Pass?

    Yes, you can upgrade to the Year 1 Pass at any point. The moment you get the Year 1 Pass, you will immediately unlock the Firewall (if you have not finished the Research just yet), as well as get the cosmetic rewards you have earned, depending on which stage you are at. Even if you unlocked the Specialization without the Pass, once you purchase it, you will immediately unlock all cosmetic rewards.

That’s a lot to take in, no? Episode 3 will drop sometime in February according to Ubisoft. In addition to Episode 3, Ubisoft has already relayed some of the changes they’re bringing to the game after the big content drop.

Battlefield V Multiplayer Producer Says Things Would Be “Different” If It Was Up to Him

Released back in November 2018, Battlefield V has been met with mixed reactions from players even after more than a year of being out. With the latest major change being the time-to-kill (TTK) adjustments made by DICE, some players are understandably unhappy with how it is currently. Well, it seems even some of the people at DICE aren’t exactly agreeing with every decision made with the game.

David Sirland, Battlefield V Multiplayer Producer and DICE employee of 11 years, announced on the Battlefield subreddit that he’s resigning from the company effective March 3, 2020. In the same subreddit, Sirland took the time to answer questions from players regarding Battlefield V and then some.

In answering one of the posters, Sirland commented that if things were completely up to him, “they would surely be different.” You can see him post it with his Reddit username “tiggr” and he even has the official DICE flair to make sure it’s a legit account.

Another poster asked Sirland if once he’s gone, can he share his opinion on how things should have turned out, who made the final call on changes, and so on. Surprisingly, Sirland said that “eventually” he’ll do it.

 

When asked for his honest and “final” opinion on Battlefield V, Sirland didn’t say exactly what he thought of his current game so far, but did say he will “in due time” which is understandable, since he technically is still a DICE employee.

Finally, when asked to comment about the future of the Battlefield franchise, Sirland mentioned that it would be hard given he’s privvy to the upcoming Battlefield titles the studio is brewing.

While I doubt Sirland can give a tell-all once he’s out of DICE, any honest feedback he has to say about his latest game will surely be food for thought for a lot of people.

Xbox One February Update New Features Showcased by Microsoft

Xbox Insider subscribers should being seeing the newest Xbox one preview update available soon as the company has confirmed it’s roll-out. Curious what’s in it? Microsoft has given us an Xbox One Feburary update new features preview and there are loads to take in.

Called Xbox One “2002” Update, this will update will introduce a new user interface called “Xbox One Home”, which will improve streamlining of games by keeping them in the front of the user interface. Game Pass, Mixer, and the Storefront will be more easy to access, and players will be able to manually remove or add specific rows. In the My Games section you will no be able to group games better and access labels for demos and trails.

There’s loads more being added, which you can read up below. Note this isn’t the full update, but features that are coming in advance before the full update drops.

Image Support in Conversations

With 2002, we’re enabling the ability for you to view images and animated GIFs in messaging conversations with your Xbox Live friends on console, with the ability to also view content in Message Requests based on your message safety settings. Now, images sent from the Xbox mobile app on iOS or Android or the new Xbox (Beta) App for Windows 10 PC will also display on your console, with the added ability to view the content in full-screen on Xbox One.

View and Install Individual Games Bundled Through Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass members: we’re giving you additional control over which content to install when downloading and playing Xbox Game Pass titles that are part of a larger bundle listing, such as Shenmue I & II. With this update, you will now see an “In this bundle” overview from the install dialog, as well as the option to select which individual title to download and launch.

Choose a Preferred Location for Notifications

You can now decide where you want notifications to appear on your screen by going to Settings -> Preferences -> Notifications and clicking on “Default notification position.” This will bring up a menu that lets you choose a preferred spot from one of six locations on your screen, letting you move them out of the way if they end up blocking something in games or apps. While your preferred location will become the new default, note that certain games may change this during gameplay for the best user experience.

Even More Mixer Viewing Improvements

Thanks to your feedback, we’ve made a number of changes to improve your Mixer viewing experience on Xbox One! Firstly, you now have the option to switch your chat mode to ‘classic chat,’ which displays chat messages in their own dedicated space beside the stream video. Secondly, you can now manually select the video resolution at which you want to watch content based on your preference. Lastly, you can now see more information about streamers you’re interested in, browse their VODs and Clips to watch, and host their channel on your own, making it easier to support your favorite streamers and keep up to date with all of their content.

More Storage Management Suggestions

With the existing Storage Management feature, when you run out of space your Xbox One makes space-freeing suggestions for you by organizing and displaying which games, apps, and other content is taking up the most room on your hard drive. In 2002, we are introducing a “Move” option for users with external storage attached to their console, giving you the choice to either move or remove items to free up the needed space as desired.

Apex Legends Season 4 Launch Trailer Assimilates Out

Apex Legends players, the time for Season 4 is almost here! To hype everyone up, Respawn Entertainment has released the Apex Legends Season 4 launch trailer that gives us a look at assassin Revenant.

Today, Respawn sheds more light on the backstory for the latest Legend in Apex, Revenant. The Apex Legends Season 4 – Assimilation launch explores what drives Revenant, the robotic assassin who viciously murdered the “People’s Champion,” Jimmie “Forge” McCormick. The stories that define each Legend impact the world of Apex Legends and in Season 4 – Assimilation, Revenant adds his villainous background and aggressive attack skills to this cast of misfits, outcasts, drifters, and grifters.

Revenant used to be human. He was the greatest hitman the Mercenary Syndicate ever had. But when his programming eventually failed, he saw what Hammond Robotics had turned him into: a walking nightmare of steel and vestigial flesh. The return of Hammond Robotics to the Outlands has renewed his thirst for vengeance, and he won’t stop until they’re all dead. Of course, he doesn’t mind eviscerating a few Legends along the way.

Apex Legends Season 4 starts February 4, 2020 (this coming Tuesday). and aside from Revenant. players can expect a new sniper rifle, an all-new Battle Pass, and more. Check out some of the stuff included in the upcoming season, here.

SMITE Update 11.28 Released for Fixes

While Hi-Rez might have just released the massive SMITE Season 7 patch a few days ago, the studio has rolled out SMITE update today (SMITE update 11.28) on all platforms! Console gamers will see this as SMITE update 1.28, and as one might expect from an update released this quickly after a recent one has just been rolled out, it’s just for fixes.

The SMITE update 11.28 patch is live now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and has been rolled out to fix issues with players not being able to reconnect to matches.

Gods & Goddesses! We’ve released a client patch for PC, Xbox, & PS4 to address issues with players being unable to reconnect to matches. Be sure to check out our top issues Trello board for status updates on other known issues in the #Season7 Update.

As for on-going issues, you can check out the official SMITE Trello board to see the stuff Hi-Rez is working on.

Battlefield V Tank Customization Planned for Patch 6.2, Community Games Update Planned for Next Week

While we’ve seen mention of Battlefield V tank customization options and whatnot since early last year, the feature still isn’t out yet and we’re in 2020. Well, it seems things are about to change soon if DICE is to be believed.

Over on Twitter, Global Community Manager PartWelsh mentioned that DICE is planning to roll out Battlefield V tank customization after patch 6.2, which will drop after 6.0, which is scheduled for early February.

During Chapter 6 we’ll make good on a Promise. Tank Customization is currently planned for our 6.2 Update later in the Chapter, and I’ll be keen to show you more as we get closer to that. Thanks for keeping us honest! This truly is #ComingSoon #Battlefield

That’s definitely good news, right? Well, that’s not all. If you’re looking forward to new announcements and such regarding Community Games,we’ll be getting that (hopefully) by next week! This was revealed by DICE Community Manager Jeff Braddock when he answered a Reddit user.

Speaking of patch 6.2, DICE talked about that and the upcoming patch (6.0) which you can read about here. Don’t forget, Chapter 6 “Into the Jungle” will be deployed soon, and here’s what to expect.

Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn Gameplay to Debut at Final Kombat 2020

While we already know comic book character Spawn will be in Mortal Kombat 11, we now know exactly when we’ll see actual Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn gameplay! In a press release, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that we’re not only going to see Spawn gameplay but even Spawn creator Todd McFarlane himself makes an appearance at the debut!

The Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn gameplay first-look will take place at the MK Pro Kompetition championship finale “Final Kombat 2020” this March 8! Todd McFarlane will also be on hand, as well as Keith David (voice actor of Spawn in Mortal Kombat 11), and more!

Final Kombat 2020 Appearances and Activations:

  • Special appearances by Todd McFarlane (Spawn Creator and McFarlane Toys Creative Director/CEO), Keith David (voice of Spawn), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (voice of Shang Tsung in MK 11) and Ed Boon (Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios and Co-Creator of MK).

Zombie Army 4 Season 1 Content Revealed

Rebellion Games is planning to offer some lengthy support for their soon to be released Zombie Army title, as they have revealed the content for the Zombie Army 4 Season 1 Pass.

The season 1 pass for Zombie Army 4 will include a number of new weapons along with some brand-new campaign missions and other additional surprises. You can watch the trailer below along with some more details as to what’s included for season 1.

For those who opt out of the season, fret not as Rebellion plans on proving free updates that’ll include some content. The first being a new Horde Mode map.

Zombie Army 4 Season 1 pass includes the following:

  • 3 new campaign missions
  • 4 character packs, featuring playable characters that can be used in any mode
  • 9 weapon bundles including new weapons, charms, skins and more

Pricing on the Season 1 Pass is yet to be revealed, although for those planning on buying the Super Deluxe Edition the pass will be bundled with it.

You can pick up Zombie Army 4 on Feburary 4 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-ording does give players an additional playable character, the Undead Airman.

Destiny 2 Twitch Loot Announced

Chalk Destiny 2 up as another game in the lost list of titles that’s part of the Twitch Prime lineup in terms of rewards! In a press release, Twitch announced the Destiny 2 Twitch loot rewards!

Available now, Destiny 2 players can expect Exotic gear to grace their grubby mitts just for being Twitch Prime members! This freebie applies to all platforms (PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia).

NOW AVAILABLE Bungie is teaming up with Twitch Prime to bring Prime members six months of Exotic gear drops for Destiny 2. Each drop will contain four rewards, including Exotic weapons, Ghosts, ships, Sparrows, emotes and weapon ornaments from previous Seasons.

Beginning today, members can claim the Exotic Auto Rifle SUROS Regime, its Exotic Weapon Ornament Coup de Main, the Exotic ship unsecured/OUTCRY, and the Exotic Ghost Shell Skyline Flipside. Start your journey here, then visit Amanda Holliday in The Tower to claim your drop. 

I know, I know, the Exotic stuff aren’t really the best, but it is free, so there’s that.

Don’t forget, if you’re an Amazon Prime member, you’re automatically eligible for the Destiny 2 Twitch loot!
