Former Battlefield and Halo Devs Announce Third-Person Shooter “Scavengers”

If you ever wanted something new and not just the same old shooter experience, then Midwinter Entertainment might have just the thing! Introducing “Scavengers,” a game being developed by a studio staffed with former members who worked on Halo, Call of Duty and Battlefield!

According to the studio, Scavengers is what it calls a survival shooter “co-opetition” game set in the the near-future apocalypse where a massive asteroid collides with the moon, and thus, causing a new ice age. Players will be able to take choose from four classes (each with female and male variants) to hunt for resources, and weapons.

Scavengers is an online, match-based multiplayer experience, and as such, there will be a lot of competition going on. Currently, Midwinter is toying with a two–person and four-person team. What’s interesting here is, once a match starts, the teams get dropped into the map with their own objectives. It’s not as simple as “kill the other teams,” but rather, “each team has their own beginning and end” within the game’s world. Players can cooperate with other teams within a match, and that can lead to multiple winning teams.

Check out Midwinter talk about the game, as well as early concept renders in the trailer below.

As for matches, don’t expect a typical TDM (team deathmatch) scenario. There’s supposedly three phases in each match. The first phase is when players search for food and build up weapons to level up their characters (yes, there will be skill trees). Second phase is when players will encounter enemies, the in-game wildlife, and of course, other players. Finally, there’s the launch phase, this is when teams search for a place to extract all the bounties and supplies they’ve gathered during the match. Each match is ideally at 30-45 minutes long, which means the studio is aiming for more than bite-sized, arcade shooting.

Sounds intriguing? Read up on the detailed write up by Game Informer to know more. No release window has been mentioned, though it’s in development first on PC with console versions to follow. There’s no single-player campaign planned as well

This is definitely something to keep an eye on given it seems to be a mix of The Division, Destiny and even PUBG’s good traits. Let’s hope the folks at Midwinter can keep their vision intact while delivering a fun game.

Monster Hunter World Upcoming Weapon Changes Listed, Watch Deviljho Take on Bazelgeuse

Earlier today, we reported on the when Deviljho will be coming to Monster Hunter World, as well as details regarding the first big content drop for the hit action game. While exact patch notes aren’t live yet and won’t be so until the patch is live, Capcom has given a better, detailed look at the Monster Hunter World upcoming changes.

Before you dive into that though, you might want to watch Deviljho take on one of the most annoying monsters in the game! Yes, I’m referring to carpet bombing nuisance, Bazelgeuse!

Here’s the official details regarding the Spring Blossom Fest hitting in April:

Starting April 5th 5pm PT / April 6th 12am GMT
Ending April 18th 5pm PT / April 20th 12am GMT

Now shifting things to a much lighter mood… shortly after the arrival of the mean pickle in Monster Hunter: World, we’ll be hosting our very first seasonal event: the Spring Blossom Fest. Come celebrate with us and participate in daily fun activities, which will, of course, involve a lot of monster hunting.

We’ve completely decorated the Celestial Pursuit (Gathering Hub) and even issued out new official Guild uniforms to all the staff. Oh, and food! You can’t have a party without food, so we’ve added a special new platter too.

In addition to the Mega Man voxel style Palico gear which will be available as a special Event Quest from April 13-27, Capcom is also rolling out the Wyvern Ignition Great Sword, which is the winning entry from community weapon design contest. Check out how it looks in-game, as well as concept renders.

Moving on, here are the weapon changes and other stuff tweaked in the big spring update. Note that these are not everything, and Capcom has said that more details will be shared once the pach is live.

WEAPON BALANCE UPDATES

Also on the topic of weapons, the upcoming March 22nd title update will bring to the table a number of tweaks, adjustments and bug fixes to most weapon types.

  • Great Sword: increased the damage for Charged Slash abilities.
  • Long Sword: improvements to Foresight Slash input timing and hitbox detection.
  • Sword & Shield: Roundslash damage increased and improved slinger usability
  • Dual Blades: adjustments to help maintain Demon Gauge active
  • Hammer: adjusted the stun values on charged attacks
  • Hunting Horn: general attack power increase
  • Lance: Counter-thrust adjustment to increase ease of use
  • Gunlance: Reduced sharpness loss for shelling, and made some attack power increases
  • Switch Axe: Zero Sum Discharge adjustments to increase ease of use
  • Charge Blade: balance adjustments to Impact Phial and Power Element Phial
  • Insect Glaive: improvements to extract attack power increase and extract effect length
  • Bow: fixed various bugs
  • Light Bowgun: no adjustments were made
  • Heavy Bowgun: no adjustments were made

We’ll be sharing a more comprehensive list when the title update goes live. In the meantime, please know that our team in Japan is hard at work monitoring player behavior and feedback, and we hope these changes will make for a better and smoother hunting experience.

ADDITIONAL GAME SYSTEM CHANGES & CHARACTER EDIT VOUCHER

Speaking of player feedback, we have heard your requests to have the ability to re-edit your in-game character, so we’re giving everyone one free Character Edit Voucher on March 16th. This voucher will be available for free in the PlayStation Store and Xbox Game Store, but it is a one-time use token, so please use it wisely. Here’s what you can and cannot edit with this voucher:

CAN EDIT:

  • Hunter gender;
  • Hunter physical appearance (skin tone, features, etc.);
  • Hunter cosmetic appearance (hairstyle, facepaint, etc.). Note you can already do these at any time;

CANNOT EDIT:

  • Hunter name;
  • Palico name;
  • Palico appearance;

If you choose to make further edits after you’ve consumed the free Character Edit voucher, we’ll be offering more vouchers for purchase at a later date. More details to come.

We’re also deploying some changes to a number of game systems with the March 22nd title update, hoping to improve your gameplay experience even more:

  • Attacks from allies no longer interrupt you during the carving animation. Additionally, players are now immune to all hit reactions, including bombs, during carving animations after quest completion.
  • Added “Return to Gathering Hub” (single player) and “Disband & Return to Gathering Hub” (multiplayer) to the options for “Select Return Destination” after a quest has been completed.
  • Added the “Text Size” setting for changing subtitle text size, under Start Menu > Options Game Settings.

Quite a lot, no? Once the patch is live, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. In the meantime, what Monster Hunter World guides and coverage do you want to see more of here on MP1st?

PUBG Xbox Player Count Hits 5 Million

The PUBG Xbox player count has quietly crept up. While Fortnite might be creating a bigger buzz, with its weekly content drops, and constant communication from the developers, Bluehole’s battle royale effort has clearly been selling well as an Xbox Game Preview title.

In a video spotted by Resetera user Theorry, which has been taken down before I could grab a screenshot (sigh), the 5 million player count milestone was celebrated by the Xbox and PUBG teams.

I’ll embed the video below, as it may go live again:

That’s 5 million people paying $30 for PUBG on Xbox, without the game really being finished. Pretty insane stuff!

Are you one of the 5 million PUBG Xbox players? If so, what do you think of the experience so far? Let us know.

In other PUBG news, the latest patch notes for PC Update 7 are now available to read, as are the latest changes to the Xbox version. Looking specifically at the Xbox One version, here’s what the developer has planned for the game’s immediate future.

Report: Shadow of the Tomb Raider Release Date Leaked, Reveal Set for Tomorrow (Update)

Update:

And now even the reveal trailer has leaked! Watch it here on Facebook!

Original Story:

Back in December of last year, Square Enix announced the new Tomb Raider game and even snuck in a hidden message that points to it titled as “Shadow of the Tomb Raider.” Today, the official Tomb Raider website has updated to relay the message that tomorrow, March 15, 2018, at 6 a.m. PDT, something will be announced.

Unfortunately, though, it seems whatever announcement is coming has been leaked by the website’s code. Checking the site’s source code, you can see that it lists the Shadow of the Tomb Raider release date as September 14, 2018, and is set for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC!

Obviously, nothing has been set in stone so far: not the actual title, nor is the release date. But if it is indeed titled Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and is set for release this September 14, try to act surprised, alright?

It’s not known whether Shadow of the Tomb Raider has or will have multiplayer, but in case it doesn’t, we’ll still might post stories about it here and there. Hey, it is a big, AAA game, no?

What do you hope to see tomorrow when it’s official revealed? Are you shocked it’s set for release so soon?

Following the community outcry at the changes made to Fortnite Dragon Weapons, Epic Games has been working on a fix. We’re rolling out the Dragon Weapon grants tonight (3/13) for the players affected.

This isn’t because of some crazy digital sale, either, as the UK charts compiled by Chart Track, only count physical sales.

  1. Grand Theft Auto V
  2. TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge

Fortnite 3.3 Update Delayed, Teams of 20 Mode Extended

The Fortnite 3.3 update has experienced a delay, Epic Games has confirmed. Announced on Twitter, the team revealed that “an issue” is preventing the 3.3 update from being released today. The issue is being worked on, but an updated release date has not yet been given.

The silver lining here, is that the Teams of 20 limited time mode will be extended until the 3.3 update eventually drops. If you’ve not yet given the mode a go, hurry up and give it a try. Though it’s likely to eventually circle back around, it could be months before Teams of 20 is playable again!

Monster Hunter World Spring Update Detailed, Upcoming Changes Listed

As we’ve mentioned last week, Capcom held a special live broadcast to talk about some of the future plans for its hit game, Monster Hunter World. During the broadcast, Capcom announced the Monster Hunter World Deviljho release date, and it’s for next week, March 22!

Check out our first look at the monster as well as what his armor set would look like below.

Not only that, but there’s a ton more info regarding the Monster Hunter World spring update that revealed as well. Fortunately, Reddit has been kind enough to compile the info, which you can read about below.

YouTuber GaijinHunter has a tweet chain of the talked about changes coming to the weapons.

There will be faster loading times, ability to boot the game from the all, and a “no flinch” tweak when carving!

Remember the Devil May Cry content shown off yesterday? It’s now confirmed that the gun animation/gesture shown off will be paid DLC, which isn’t that surprising given the Street Fighter V content gated Ryu’s hadoken and shoryuken as well.

There’s also the Spring Blossom festival season event which will run from April 4-20; players can expect the Gathering Hall to be adorned with flowers, fireworks, and even a giant Poogie statue! During the event duration, two lucky vouchers per day will be given out,

Remember the Mega Man armor for your Palico? It now has a date! Expect it to be released in April 13!

Check out the rest of the revealed info in this compilation thread.

Monster Hunter: World Spring Livestream Megathread
byu/Haru17 inMonsterHunter

That about wraps it up. Given how well the game has sold so far, it’s amazing that Capcom is following it up with free content than trying to milk customers ASAP. Let’s hope Capcom keeps up the post-launch support.

Dragon Ball FighterZ Broly Character Trailer Muscles Out

Just as we reported before, Broly is headed to smash heads in Dragon Ball FighterZ! In a press release, Bandai Namco has pushed out a new Dragon Ball FighterZ Broly gameplay clip, and he looks as henched as he always is!

Don’t believe me? Watch him kick Goku’s ass in the video below!

Broly loves a good battle, especially if it’s against Goku, Goten, or Gohan, so players who love to use these characters need to be on notice, as one of the most volatile and destructive characters in the DRAGON BALL Z series is bringing his power and rage to bear upon them in DRAGON BALL FighterZ when Broly becomes downloadable.

Joining Broly will be Bardock, whom I assume will get his own gameplay reveal very soon. Once

Are you excited for the two saiyans to join the fray or were you expecting other characters?

Ghost Recon Wildlands Upcoming Update the “New Assignment” Hitting Tomorrow

In a press release, Ubisoft has announced that a new Ghost Recon Wildlands upcoming update is set for tomorrow, and it’s being called the “New Assignment.” It’ll focus on PvP (player vs player) content, and yes, it’ll be free to everyone who owns the game.

New Assignment continues to expand the Ghost War experience by adding three new classes and wraps up the total of six additional classes planned to be introduced within the span of the Ghost War roadmap. Available in all PvP modes, the new classes introduced in New Assignment are:

  • The Trapper: an expert shooter equipped with a semi-automatic sniper rifle with the ability to mark downed enemies and deploy remote KO-gas traps to stun and damage enemies.
  • The Guerilla: a support-class specialized in diversion tactics and equipped with a smoke-grenade launcher drone.
  • The Stalker: a sharpshooter specialized in silently dispatching her enemies thanks to her special abilities.

New Assignment will also introduce two new maps, “Refinery” and “Cliffside,” available for the Extraction mode exclusively, as well as a series of quality of life and gameplay updates addressing player feedback for both PvP and PvE modes. A new map-voting tool will notably allow players to vote for one of three possible Ghost War maps, each from a different game mode, at the start of every new PvP Quickplay and Ranked match.

The new maps and gameplay updates will be available free and simultaneously to all players. Season Pass and Ghost War Pass owners will immediately unlock the three new classes with an exclusive seven-day early access, while other players will be able to unlock classes with Prestige credits earned through progression or to purchase them via the in-game store. These classes round off the PvP content included in the Season Pass and Ghost War Pass offers.

Once the game update is up, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

State of Decay 2 $70 Collector’s Edition Doesn’t Include the Game

State of Decay 2 is set to launch on May 22, for both Xbox One and PC, with the more hardcore fans likely wanting to grab the Collector’s Edition. I’ll admit, it does look pretty cool, with the even the latex mask coming in useful during Halloween, or a fancy dress party. At $70, I guess it could be worth it, especially with the game coming included… Oh wait, no, the game isn’t included?!

I don’t know what Microsoft was expecting here, as this was surely going to make headlines. It would probably have been easier to just bundle the game with the mask and other goodies, set the price at $100, and celebrate happy days. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case, and those paying $70 for the State of Decay 2 Collector’s Edition, will also have to fork out an additional $30+ for access to the game.

Here’s what the State of Decay 2 Collector’s Edition does include:

The Collector’s Edition includes an exclusive SteelBook® case, zombie mask, and “thumb-drive,” this collectible edition also includes a State of Decay 2 patch and a human brain SteelBook® stand. Fans can pre-order the Collector’s Edition today at their favorite retailer for $69.99.

Monster Hunter World Devil May Cry Collaboration Announced, Watch the Trailer Now

Are the Horizon Zero Dawn and Street Fighter collaborations for Monster Hunter World not enough? Well, prepare for more, then. Capcom has announced the Monster Hunter World Devil May Cry collaboration that sees demon slaying badass Dante fight his way against monsters!

Check out the trailer below to see how awesome it looks so far, and nope, it’s not just a re-skin, either.

According to Capcom. Dante will use the combination of the Force Edge and Alastor weapons in Monster Hunter World, which will fall into the charge blade category. However, there’s no shield this for Dante that’ll be available, and instead of the sword turning into an ax, it’ll turn to Alastor — Dante’s trusty sword in the franchise — instead.

Sadly, no specific release date has been mentioned so far but Capcom has said that it’ll be an event quest. Speaking of events, there’s going to be a special broadcast tomorrow where we’ll see our first look at Deviljho!

Don’t forget to check out our Monster Hunter World guides! We have one that teaches you how to “save scum” for Decorations, a fantastic end-game bow build guide, and even one for Augmenting!

Splinter Cell 2018 Listed on Amazon

Oh, boy! Here we go! It could be nothing or it could entirely be something, but a new Splinter Cell game is now listed on Amazon! It’s simply titled “Splinter Cell 2018,” and that’s basically it. There’s no placeholder box art, no game details, no placeholder release date, no nothing.

Is this part of Ubisoft’s big surprise for this year’s E3? Given how the publisher usually brings a big gun or two to end the show, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. And it’s not like Amazon is like the other retailers that post game listings willy-nilly

Here’s a screenshot of it just in case the listing gets pulled:

The last Splinter Cell game that saw release at retail was Splinter Cell Blacklist, which was released way back in 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. And it featured the game’s better-than-expected multiplayer mode, “Spies vs Mercs.” If a new Splinter Cell is indeed planned for a reveal at this year’s E3, it’ll join the official reveal of the recently-confirmed The Division 2, as AAA games that will get official debuts at this year’s E3 by the publisher.

Is this an erroneous listing? Did Amazon let the cat out of the bag? We’ve contacted Ubisoft to seek for clarification, and will update the post if we get a response.

Call of Duty: WWII Update 1.11 Now Out, Brings the Changes That People Want (Update #2)

Update #2:

Sledgehammer has shared the patch notes for this specific title update!

Call of Duty: WWII – Game Update 3/13 (PS4/XB1)
byu/SHG_Hammer inWWII

Update:

Activision has sent a press release out detailing the new stuff in the new event! Read about it below.

Shipment 1944
Shipment 1944, a re-imagining of the classic close-quarters Multiplayer map, is free and available in Call of Duty: WWII in early access for Season Pass owners starting today. The map is free and available to all on Friday, March 16.
Leprechaun Hunt Moshpit
The Leprechaun Hunt Moshpit delivers Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed and Domination modes with a twist: a fleet-footed zombie leprechaun hidden in each map. Players who eliminate the terrifying little sprite are rewarded with something better than a pot o’ gold – all of their equipped Scorestreaks full and ready to deploy.
This mode will be available for players as a Featured Public Match playlist during Operation: Shamrock & Awe, offering 2XP from 10:00 am Pacific on March 16 to 10:00 amPacific on March 19.
New Weapons and Gear
Players will find all-new St. Patrick’s Day-themed gear, including uniforms, helmets, weapon camos and more, only available during Operation: Shamrock & Awe.
As well as new gear, Operation: Shamrock & Awe delivers two all-new weapons to Call of Duty: WWII – the M-38 Submachine Gun and the MG 81 Light Machine Gun. Both weapons have St. Paddy’s Day-themed variants, available only during Operation: Shamrock & Awe, though other variants of both weapons will continue to be available in the game once the community event concludes.

Original Story:

Just as we’ve reported earlier today, Sledgehammer Games has rolled out a new Call of Duty: WWII game update, and it has a lot of things included that should please WWII players. One of the key changes coming to the game, which, while it might not affect the gameplay directly, is how Supply Drops are handled.

Clocking in at 3.5GB on the PlayStation 4, Call of Duty: WWII update 1.11 brings the new Operation: Shamrock & Awe event, which means new weapons, new outfits and more! The gameplay tweaks for this Call of Duty: WWII update isn’t out just yet, but rest assured, the moment Sledgehammer releases it, we’ll update the post.

We’ve posted about it before, but just in case you need a refresher, here’s the new changes coming to how Call of Duty: WWII handles Supply Drops and rewards.

  • Increased Number of Weapons & Premium Content per Update – We’re adding new ranged weapons, more cosmetic weapon variants, and themed uniforms with a commitment to double-down on these categories moving forward so you’ll be able to get more of the content you want.
  • More Ways to Earn Weapons – We are offering a variety of paths to obtain the most-wanted weapons and weapon variants in-game as more will be made available via Orders and Contracts, in addition to existing Weapon Collections and Supply Drops.
  • Lowered Duplicate Rates – We are reducing the frequency of duplicates you’ll receive within Supply Drops to deliver more new content in every drop.
  • Rebalanced Category Reward Rates – This will ensure you are getting a wider variety of content categories within every drop, which will make the unboxing experience more satisfying (we heard you on what it feels like to get triple duplicate pistol grips).
  • New Special Orders – We heard your feedback on certain weapons being available only via Common Supply Drops and how hard they are to get. We are moving these into Special Orders so that they are easier to access.
  • New Categories of Items – You will have more ways to customize your solider and loadout with the introduction of weapon charms, camos, and reticles.
  • Content Changes – We are removing gold foil calling cards, and won’t be adding new pistol grips to the loot pool.
  • Armory Drops – We are adding a new Supply Drop type “Armory Drops” which will function a lot like Bribes but can be obtained for Armory Credits to provide yet another way to get the content you’re after.

Stay tuned for the official patch notes which we’ll post about ASAP.
