Call of Duty: WWII Supply Drops to Have Lower Duplicate Rates, No More New Pistol Grips Added

Here’s some good news to brighten your day if you’re a Call of Duty: WWII player: Sledgehammer Games has posted a new community update, and it talks about the Supply Drops in the game, and how it’s going to change for the better.

There’s going to be an increased number of weapons and premium content per update, lower duplicate rates, and the best one of all — no more new pistol grips are being added to the loot pool! Woohoo! I don’t know about you, but I didn’t feel rewarded whenever I obtained a new pistol grip. On the contrary, I felt like the game was goading me to hate it even more.

Here’s the full list of changes set to come to the Supply Drops system later today:

  • Increased Number of Weapons & Premium Content per Update – We’re adding new ranged weapons, more cosmetic weapon variants, and themed uniforms with a commitment to double-down on these categories moving forward so you’ll be able to get more of the content you want.
  • More Ways to Earn Weapons – We are offering a variety of paths to obtain the most-wanted weapons and weapon variants in-game as more will be made available via Orders and Contracts, in addition to existing Weapon Collections and Supply Drops.
  • Lowered Duplicate Rates – We are reducing the frequency of duplicates you’ll receive within Supply Drops to deliver more new content in every drop.
  • Rebalanced Category Reward Rates – This will ensure you are getting a wider variety of content categories within every drop, which will make the unboxing experience more satisfying (we heard you on what it feels like to get triple duplicate pistol grips).
  • New Special Orders – We heard your feedback on certain weapons being available only via Common Supply Drops and how hard they are to get. We are moving these into Special Orders so that they are easier to access.
  • New Categories of Items – You will have more ways to customize your solider and loadout with the introduction of weapon charms, camos, and reticles.
  • Content Changes – We are removing gold foil calling cards, and won’t be adding new pistol grips to the loot pool.
  • Armory Drops – We are adding a new Supply Drop type “Armory Drops” which will function a lot like Bribes but can be obtained for Armory Credits to provide yet another way to get the content you’re after.

In addition to the changes listed, there’s also going to be a new in-game event called Operation: Shamrock & Awe to commemorate St. Patrick’s Day!

Once the patch is live later, we’ll be sure to let our readers know ASAP.

Report: The Division 2 Is Being Worked on by Over “1,000 People”

While we don’t know anything super specific regarding The Division 2 other than it’ll be revealed in full at this year’s E3, the game is apparently being worked on by a lot of people. Scratch that — I meant, a boatload of people (possibly even more).

According to a source close to the project who spoke to Gamereactor, there are over 1,000 people who are now working on The Division 2! For reference, the main studio tasked with the game is Ubisoft first-party studio, Massive Entertainment. However, reports state that Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai, Ubisoft Bucharest, and Ubisoft Sofia are all devoting resources for The Division 2 as well, which means that if true, this would make The Division 2 the biggest Ubisoft game of all time.

When asked to comment, Ubisoft Nordic PR said this is “a rumour that they choose not to comment on.”

Does this automatically mean that The Division 2 will be a good — or great — game? Not at all, but given the size and scope, it should be dripping with AAA goodness. What do you want to see from The Division 2? More meaningful side quests? Prettier visuals? More of the same? Whatever they are, let’s hope these 1,000 people put their efforts in the right places, no?

For more The Division 2 news, make sure to keep your crosshairs locked here on MP1st!

Sony Blamed for Lack of Fortnite PS4 and Xbox One Crossplay

Following the announcement of Fortnite crossplay support, many were wondering if Fortnite PS4 and Xbox One crossplay would be a thing. Unfortunately, no, players on those competing platforms will not be able to play with one another.

Why isn’t Fortnite PS4 and Xbox One crossplay a thing? Well, it looks like Xbox and Epic Games were all for it, expressing their approval on Twitter. Sony, it seems, is the party to blame for the pooping.

It’s only implied that Sony is the one vetoing PS4 and Xbox One crossplay, but it’s clear enough for us. If it was truly “for the players,” I think letting gamers play together, regardless of platform, would be a cool thing to do!

In other Fortnite news, it has become the most watched and most streamed game on Twitch, the Flippin’ Sexy emote is driving players wild, and a future update will bridge the Battle Royale and Save the World controls.

Analyst: Call of Duty Battle Royale Coming in the Future, Activision “Aware” of Mode Popularity

With the massive success of games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite, it seems the battle royale genre is the new sexy young thing on the block that everyone’s trying to capitalize on.

Could a Call of Duty Battle Royale game or mode be next? Apparently so, according to a new report via the Wall Street Journal, Activision is “keenly aware” of how other publishers have greatly benefited from releasing titles in the battle royale genre; and that the publisher is known as a “faster follower.”

Important to note: this is what an analyst thinks and Activision has not announced or implied anything that the Call of Duty franchise is following the battle royale route. However, if it does, would anyone really be surprised? Just checking Fortnite’s popularity, it’s clear that the genre has struck a nerve among gamers. And while Fortnite is a free-to-play game, imagine if the biggest revenue-driving game in the industry dips its toes into the genre? I can already see Activision execs counting the money trucks they need for all of that cash about to flow in.

Would you want to see a Call of Duty Battle Royale game? Should it be in Black Ops IIII?

Rumor: Destiny 2 Second Expansion to Be Called “Fallen Warmind,” Release Date Mentioned

While Bungie might still be hard at work in re-calibrating Destiny 2 to make sure everyone’s happy, that doesn’t mean the studio has forsaken its DLC plans for the game. Players have already trudged through Destiny 2’s first DLC, Curse of Osiris, and it’s been months now with no concrete news of the next expansion.

We earlier reported a rumor that the Destiny 2 DLC 2 will be called “God of Mars,” but a recent leaked listing seems to indicate something else. Compiled by the folks over on the Destiny subreddit, pulled listings from GameStop and Amazon both state that the second expansion for Destiny 2 will be called “Fallen Warmind.” In addition to that, the Destiny 2 DLC 2 release date has also been listed, which puts it at a May 8, 2018 launch!

Bear in mind, none of the info listed (name and date) have been confirmed, and as such, should be treated as rumors for now. We’ve contacted Activision and will update the post if we get a response.

Which name do you prefer: Fallen Warmind or God of Mars? What do you want to see from Destiny 2’s next expansion? Let us know down below in the comments.

Report: Call of Duty WW2 Shipment 1944 Logo Hints at Map’s Return

It looks like there could be a Call of Duty WW2 Shipment 1944 map remake in the works. According to multiple PS4 users, a “Shipment 1944” logo appeared briefly on the PS Store. It was then removed with no comment from either PlayStation or Sledgehammer Games.

CharlieINTEL managed to capture the logo, seen below, which shows a wooden crate showing “Shipment 1944” text:

Report: Battlefield V Confirmed Via EA Play 2018 Banner

It looks like Battlefield V will be making an appearance at EA Play 2018, if this leaked banner is anything to go off. Appearing on Imgur, before then being deleted and picked up by a handful of Reddit users, the leaked banner shows the Battlefield V text appearing next to the EA Play logo, as well as the event date and location.

Check it out below:

battlefield v ea play

If Battlefield V is appearing alone on the banner, we can assume that it will be the biggest game featured at the EA Play 2018 event. I’d expect a lengthy gameplay reveal, which will probably be played live, if previous events are anything to go by.

Of course, until we get official confirmation from EA, we’ve got to take these leaks with a pinch of salt. While all of the rumors piling up point towards Battlefield V being this year’s game, it’s possible that all of this information is false.

In other Battlefield news, a recent leak mentioned factions, classes, gun attachments, and more. Another leak describes how players will be able to go prone on their backs, a co-op mode, and details about the campaign.

New PUBG Update Rolled Back Due to “Compatibility Issues”

A new PUBG update has been rolled out for PC players to download. The latest patch rolls back the latest changes, as many users were experiencing crashing and saw error messages popping up. While it’s nice to have new PUBG anti-cheat systems in place, it’s not great when the game won’t work for innocent players.

The official PUBG Help Twitter account began by acknowledging that players were having issues, before then saying that the latest patch would be rolled back. The new anti-cheat improvements, therefore, are no longer in place, so don’t be surprised if you die in an inexplicable way. (We wouldn’t disable the Death Cam just yet!)

In other PUBG news, NFL Star JJ Watt provoked a Twitter battle between the game and Fortnite, sales are now at over 30 million but player numbers are dropping, and the roadmap for PC 2018 content has been revealed.

Call of Duty: WWII “Stacked” Game Update Set for Tuesday, Prop Hunt & Gun Game to Be Added to DLC Maps

While a lot of Call of Duty fans might be in Black Ops IIII hype mode given the recent reveal, gamers shouldn’t forget that the latest Call of Duty game — Call of Duty: WWII — is still alive and kicking.

Over on Reddit, Sledgehammer Games announced a “mini community update,” where the studio discussed some of the key things planned for the shooter. The chief announcement here is that a new game update is set for this coming Tuesday, and according to Sledgehammer Games, it’ll be “stacked.”

Mini SHG Weekly Community Update – Friday, March 9
byu/SHG_Hammer inWWII

If you can’t see the embedded post, it reads:

Happy Friday, everyone!

We are postponing today’s SHG Weekly Community Update until Monday to gather as much info as we can for our Tuesday game update. However, we don’t want to leave you hanging! So, here’s a shortened update, with more to come in Monday’s blog…

MULTIPLAYER

Gun Game and Prop Hunt. They’re here to stay, and next week we’ll have them available on the new DLC maps! Plus, we heard your feedback and added a Party Games playlist tab, so you can find these two playlists there.

Game Update. We are pushing out a game update on Tuesday and it is STACKED with changes, fixes, and new items. Keep an eye out for patch notes.

CWL Atlanta. Make sure to tune in throughout the weekend to watch over 200 teams battle for the Championship and $200,000 prize. Link to stream: https://www.twitch.tv/callofduty

HC Ricochet. ICYMI, today we added a separate playlist for this rule. Some of you have voiced concerns about splitting up the hardcore community. We totally understand this concern and want to let you know that the intention of the separate HC playlists is to give everyone a chance to play both, help us to gather data, and feedback so that we can determine which rule to adopt. Play this weekend and we’ll put up a poll on our Twitter account on Monday so everyone can vote.

ZOMBIES

Concept Art Giveaway. Today at 1PM PT, we’ll be hosting a contest on r/CODZombies to give away a signed print of Nazi Zombies concept art. Don’t miss out!

Also, we couldn’t be happier for our friends over at Treyarch and can’t wait to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 later this year. That was one badass logo reveal. The hype is real.

Thanks, everyone, and have a great weekend!

Once the game update is live, we’ll be sure to let everyone know.

Fortnite Xbox One Crossplay Announced, However Still Excludes PS4

Fortnite Xbox One crossplay support has been announced, with Xbox players soon able to enjoy crossplay, cross-progression, and cross-purchase across all platforms except PS4.

Here’s the full announcement from Epic Games:

Hey Fortnite Community,

We’re happy to announce today that in partnership with our friends at Microsoft, Fortnite will feature cross-play, cross-progression, and cross-purchase, between Xbox One, PC, Mac, iOS and (in the next few months) Android.

Contrary to what may have been implied, Microsoft has long been a leading voice in supporting cross-platform play, connecting players across PC, mobile and all consoles. We’ve been working together with them over the last several months to make this possible, and will bring this functionality to Fortnite players on Xbox right along with other platforms.

With each new platform we support and every update we ship, we strive to bring Fortnite to more people, and make it easier to play together with friends. And, as always, cross-play is opt in.

Epic Games Talks Fortnite Dragon Weapons, Critical Chance Perks & More

Following the Fortnite 3.2 update, many players expressed their frustration at some of the changes made. The biggest controversy surrounds the Fortnite Dragon Weapons, with the odds of these rare weapons being tweaked.

Epic Games has taken to Reddit with a “post-mortem” of the 3.2 update, to explain the Fortnite Dragon Weapons changes, Critical Chance perks, and stats cap.

Here are the full details:

Fortnite Dragon Weapons

In Patch 2.5 we introduced a data error that caused the newly created Dragon Weapons to ignore our normal perk rules. We immediately started hearing from you about weapons that were extremely underpowered, loaded up with nothing but low-rarity “gray” perks. We fixed the error in Patch 3.0, so that all weapons dropped after that point had sets of perks that were valid, but that change alone didn’t help the players who had already earned one of those poor weapons. For patch 3.2 we decided to run a script to detect weapons that were below our normal minimum threshold, or that had multiple gameplay perks that could potentially introduce unexpected bugs. Due to incorrect parameters the script enforced the maximum caps too, dragging down players who had lucked into an extraordinarily good weapon. The nature of our current perk system did not allow for a targeted re-roll at the scale of this issue (i.e. fundamental reroll rules were incorrect), so an overall reroll of the weapon was the only recourse. This lead to a lot of edge cases where weapons received perks that were higher rarity, but that performed worse in practice, due to receiving sub-optimal combinations of perks. In the short term, we’re looking at ways to get you as close to your previous state as possible without causing future issues. We’ll have more information regarding this Monday!

Fortnite Critical Chance Perks

As part of the design work towards the perk reroll system we had to take all of the existing perks in the game and re-implement them, so that instead of using manually entered values they were referring to the global balance tables of the game, and could be more easily scaled and upgraded by the new system. During this process we discovered that the manually entered values on most of the perks were under value, resulting in the majority of our perks underperforming compared to our “baseline” 10%/15%/20% damage perks. This made damage perks optimal for the majority of weapons in the game, but we want to provide for a variety of different perk builds, so that you can find combinations to suit your personal playstyle. This design goes hand-in-hand with our desire to let players change the perks that are slotted into their weapons via perk rerolls. Since we were touching all the data already, and this looked like it would be a buff to perks overall, the call was made to rebalance the perks.

One of the most underpowered perks was Critical Damage, but when we buffed it up to be more competitive with the baseline, the combination of multiple Critical Damage and Critical Chance perks began to outperform all other perk combinations. As a result the numbers on Critical Chance were brought down.

However, players have been honing their collections of weapons towards damage and Critical Chance over months of play, so even though the majority of the weapons in the game got a buff, the reduction to critical chance ended up affecting the weapons that you had invested into the most.

In this specific case, we should have waited until we shipped the perk re-roll system to touch any perks on a large scale, to allow you to adjust for when we make significant balance changes. The change should have also included a grant of evolution materials and XP to refund what players had already invested in the weapons containing Critical Chance. We’ve decided that is a good philosophy going forward. If we ever adjust schematic you have invested into when we make a significant balance change we will grant you back the investment or allow you to make the decision yourself when possible. For those of you who have upgraded schematics with Critical Chance we’re looking into the best way to provide you the invested resources and will have an update for you on Monday.

Fortnite Stat Caps

Since the launch of Save the World early access we have had caps on the amount of FORT stats and the maximum level of your characters and equipment, so that when high-level players play in low-level areas with their friends the experience does not become watered down. Prior to patch 3.2 we had the ability to create one set of stat caps per zone (Stonewood, Plankerton, etc.) which meant that the caps were working at the highest difficulty in each location, but at lower difficulties they were so high that they had no practical effect. We recently retooled our data to allow clamps to be set at every difficulty, so that stat caps would feel consistent across the game.

Although playing downlevel should not be trivial, it is intended to be much easier than playing on level, and we did not want a player going through the normal game progression to notice the caps. As a result our weapons are capped about 10 levels above what we expect the player to be using, and we allow the FORT stats (both personal and shared) to go about 40% above target as well. As players get further into the game they can specialize into their desired FORT stats and push them further and further above the targets, but we believe the current balance of our caps does not offer enough of a buffer to allow this at the higher difficulty parts of the game.

As part of this stat cap change we also widened the experience buckets in the game, so that more of the missions on the map were “green” missions that grant XP. We also increased the amount of XP given by those missions, so that in general you can play downlevel while still making decent progress along your skilltree. Long-term we will make playing with your newer friends more valuable to an experienced player, without introducing exploits that make it into an optimal routine.

For patch 3.3 we’re going to gradually loosen the caps across Canny Valley and Twine Peaks, so that by the end of Twine players should be able fully benefit from the best gear, survivors, and leads in the game. Please keep giving us feedback about your experiences playing the game, at all difficulty levels, and we’ll keep tuning this feature until we get it feeling right.

In other Fortnite news, it has become the most watched and most streamed game on Twitch, the Flippin’ Sexy emote is driving players wild, and a future update will bridge the Battle Royale and Save the World controls.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Quad Feed Medal Changed by Treyarch to Show Black Ops IIII Logo

With Treyarch surprisingly rolling out a game update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, it seems there’s more to it than meets the yet. Given the studio officially revealed Black Ops IIII yesterday, Treyarch has slyly snuck in a reference to the upcoming entry in BO3!

If you manage to get a quad feed medal in Black Ops 3 (meaning you kill four enemies in quick succession), you’ll be able to see this:

In case you missed the announcement yesterday, the logo for Black Ops 4 or Black Ops IIII is this:

black ops 4 release date

Not groundbreaking or anything, but a nice move by Treyarch to keep the momentum going, no?

Additionally, remember when NBA star James Harden leaked the BOIIII logo by wearing a hat with it to a match? Well, he just confirmed that he’s somehow involved! It’s not known whether he’ll be a celeb in Treyarch’s regular zombie mode, or maybe as a character in the game’s campaign or something.

It’s a long wait from now until May — which is when Treyarch is officially lifting the lid; that said, we’ll keep an eye out for any interesting BOIIII tidbits to tide our readers over.

Tera Beta for PS4 and Xbox One Now Live, Open Beta Schedule Revealed

In a press release, En Masse Entertainment has announced that the TERA beta for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is now live! It will run from today, March 9, 6 a.m. PST until March 11, 11:59 p.m. PST.

Check out the TERA beta announcement trailer below! I have to admit, I’m not big on MMORPG (massively multiplayer online RPG), but this one is very intriguing. The big creatures and the overall design reminds me of Monster Hunter World (in a good way).

TERA brings true action combat into a high fantasy MMORPG world in an experience that combines a massive map to explore with skill-based battles that require precise timing, real-time targeting, and evasion. Explore a vast world and battle a variety of fantastic foes as you unleash epic combos against Big Ass Monsters (BAMs).

TERA will be out this spring 2018 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

What do you think of the gameplay so far? Is this something you’d be interested in for consoles? More importantly, would you be interested in more MMORPG coverage here on MP1st?
