Rainbow Six Siege Is Testing “Report Toxic Behavior” Option

The first-person shooter genre is full of intense multiplayer titles that can cause stress and frustration. When a player is on the losing side, or they aren’t performing their best, it’s easy for tempers to be lost. A bad temper can lead to toxic behavior, affecting the enjoyment of others.

To help encourage more “GGs” and positivity from Rainbow Six Siege players, Ubisoft is testing a new report player option on the Technical Test Server. Players will now find a “Report for Toxic Behavior” option located below “Vote to Kick”.

As seen above, Ubisoft’s Justin Kruger has assured players that “no one will get trolled into a ban.”

Take a look at the Rainbow Six Siege Code of Conduct for the full details on what counts as “toxic behavior”.

Are you happy to see this being tested? Hoping it comes to the live servers? Let us know.

In other Rainbow Six Siege news, the Operation White Noise Operators have been revealed, read how the developers explain ping abuse and the steps to fix it, and catch up on how Ubisoft is aiming for a total of 100 Operators.

Call of Duty Battle Royale Is Coming… To China

With how successful battle royale games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite have become, I’ve been waiting for one of the bigger first-person shooter franchises to jump on the bandwagon and offer their own take on the last man standing craze.

It seems that Call of Duty will be the first big-name FPS to adopt a battle royale mode. Unfortunately, it’ll be the China-exclusive Call of Duty Online that will be receiving the new “Survival” game type.

Daniel Ahmad shared information about the game on Twitter:

Check out some beta gameplay of the new Call of Duty battle royale mode below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzUV4uy5R5M

If this goes down well with Chinese gamers, I can definitely imagine a similar mode popping up in future Call of Duty titles!

I think it looks pretty fun, honestly, and I’d happily play this over some of the other Call of Duty game modes…

What do you think of it? Would you play Call of Duty battle royale? Let us know.

In other Call of Duty news, WWII‘s new guns and game modes have been showcased in a new gameplay video leak, a pet waste removal service named “Call of DooDee” has been targeted by Activision, and Infinite Warfare has brought Gesture Warfare back with the latest update.

Following the big Destiny 2 news that Bungie has been throttling XP for players intentionally, Game Director Luke Smith has gone on Twitter to announce that the studio will answer some questions about the game, as well as provide details on the anticipated Destiny 2 December update.

In case the tweets didn’t load for you, it reads:

Next week the Destiny 2 team will detail the systems side of the December update.

It includes: economy updates (vendors & acquiring their gear, tokens, legendary shards), investment updates (new reward systems for weapons & armor) gameplay updates, and more. (1/2)

Additionally, @knowsworthy and I will also be answering some questions and addressing community feedback we’ve been reading since launch.

See you soon. (2/2)

Let’s hope that aside from game balances, weapon tweaks and the like, we also see some quality of life improvements from the studio in the Destiny 2 December update. There’s no official word on when this patch will roll out, but once it’s out in the wild, you’ll hear it first here on MP1st.

What do you want Bungie to talk about next week? Drop rates? Why they did the XP throttling? Let us know in the comments.

Call of Duty: WWII New Guns and Game Modes Shown Off in New Gameplay Video Leak

Just a few days ago, we reported on a slew of new weapons making its way onto Call of Duty: WWII, which we assume is via its Supply Drop system. While the COD Points implementation has already been rolled out, the weapons themselves are absent.

Well, thanks to YouTuber IAMJarni, we now have footage of not just the new Call of Duty: WWII weapons, but even new (well, returning) game modes too! We see Gun Game, Infected, Control and more. There’s the new weapons featured as well. While the video has been pulled from his channel, we managed to get it up here (thanks to Reddit user xXCrankXx93). Check it out below.

For now, it remains to be seen whether the new game modes and weapons will be part of the Season Pass, be given for free, a mix of both, or be part of timed events. Once we know the full deal, we’ll be sure to let people know.

What do you think of the new weapons so far? If they’re only obtainable via Supply Drops, will they change the gun balance? Which mode do you want to see rolled out first? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Battlerite Patch Notes Poke Fun at EA’s “Sense of Pride and Accomplishment”

Battlerite‘s latest patch (1.1.0) has rolled out, bringing with it general improvements to performance and UI, balance changes, and a new champion.

Take a look at the extensive list of patch notes below, and try to spot the line which pokes fun at EA’s recent defending of loot boxes: (Hint it’s the one towards the bottom in bold!)

– General

Fixed a performance spike when some champions became visible after standing in the fog of war

Fixed a FPS drop that some players experienced when Ruh Kaan killed someone with his primary attack (M1)

Added additional resolution options for the following aspect ratios: 5:4, 4:3, 3:2, 5:3, 16:10, 16:9, 17:9, 21:9. This should allow players with a struggling GPU to reduce the resolution and thus increase performance. The aspect ratio is currently locked to a minimum of 16:10 – this will be fixed in an upcoming patch.

Loadout Picking time reduced from 90 to 60 seconds.

The following bots have been added to VS AI and Private Matches:

Blossom

Ezmo

Poloma

Rook

Ruh Kaan

Varesh

– UI

A notification message will now appear in chat when Steam Overlay is not enabled when trying to purchase a bundle that requires overlay to be enabled.

Can now equip mounts in the Collection -> Mounts window.

It should no longer unready all members of a party when one member unreadies.

Fixed a bug where black borders would block the HUD when in a match with 4:3 or 5:4 (or higher ratio) resolutions.

Fixed overlapping texts in the ‘Active quests’ section in champion select.
Added ‘View Profile’ dropdown in the add friend popup.

Changed ‘FREE TO PLAY’ text in champion select to ‘FREE TO PLAY ROTATION.’

If multiple chest reward notifications are active and player clicks on one, all of them are removed.

Added Champion icons to control settings dropdown list.

Changing camera modes (bound to 1-4) have been re-enabled in full screen Odeum replays.

You should no longer get stuck in the loading screen if you edit a replay directly after viewing an Odeum replay.

– HUD

Champion names are now displayed in Scoreboard

Scoreboard now correctly displays the scores of the previous round until the next round begins

– Arena

Champions are now properly cleared of energy, buffs, weapon charges, and other effects before each round starts.

– Battlegrounds

Fixed a bug with Shadow Pestilus’ Queens ability.

– Playground

Added a 500 HP dummy that regains health if not attacked for 1.5s. You can practice combos on it!

– Cosmetics

The Dab of Pride and Accomplishment – New Legendary Pose available for Croak. Can be unlocked for 20,000 Tokens.

“The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking this item.”

This item can only be purchased with tokens and will not drop in chests.

– New Champion – Destiny, the Sky Ranger

The quote is taken from the most downvoted Reddit comment of all time, posted here by EA.

I don’t think EA is ever going to live this one down!

Bungie Has Now Removed the Destiny 2 XP Limitations

Following the recent outrage over Destiny 2 XP gains being throttled once players hit level 20, Bungie took to its blog to explain the situation and how it would be handling the problem.

The developer explained how XP would scale up for longer activities, and scale down for shorter activities, to prevent exploits. Following this explanation, however, Bungie then went ahead and said that the XP scaling system would be immediately deactivated!

This may only be a temporary measure, however, with Bungie monitoring the situation. Any future changes “will be communicated to [players] via [Bungie’s] official channels.”

Here’s Bungie’s full statement on the matter:

We’ve seen community discussion around XP gain in Destiny. After reviewing our data, we agree that the system is not performing the way we’d like it to. Today, we’d like to describe what’s going on under the hood, and talk about what you can expect going forward when it comes to earning XP in Destiny 2.

Currently, XP will scale up when playing longer or fixed duration activities like Crucible competitive multiplayer matches and the Leviathan Raid, and XP will scale down when playing activities that can be quickly, repeatedly chained, like grinding Public Events. We are not happy with the results, and we’ve heard the same from the community.

Effective immediately, we are deactivating this system.

As a result, players will see XP earn rates change for all activities across the board, but with all values being displayed consistently in the user interface. Over the course of the next week, we will be watching and reviewing XP game data to ensure that these changes meet our expectations, as well as yours. Any additional updates to this system will be communicated to you via our official channels.

My advice: Get grinding and see how XP has been affected!

Rocket League Review – Portable Mayhem (Nintendo Switch)

Rocket League burst onto the scene in 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and became an instant hit with its wacky premise of rocket-powered cars that played soccer (or football). Since release, Rocket League has made a name for itself for being a game that is both fun and casual, while also being skill-demanding and competitive. It features many different game modes ranging from ranked play to party modes, as well as an insane amount of customization for your cars.

So when Psyonix announced that it would be porting the game over to the Nintendo Switch, many fans were excited, while others asked the question of whether it would be good or not. Could a game like Rocket League work on a handheld? What would multiplayer be like? Is it worth my money?

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Performance

Those returning fans who are looking to buy the game on the Switch, Chances are, the first thing you want to know is how Rocket League performs on the console-handheld hybrid. I’m not sure what black magic Pysonix did, but this game runs like butter 98 percent of the time in handheld mode, and 100 percent while docked.

By butter smooth, I meant the frame rate. Rocket League runs at 60 frames-per-second in both docked and handheld modes, and for many, this is an absolute requirement in competitive games.

Rocket League has a special feature in handheld mode that allows for dynamic resolution based on the stadium that’s being played. According to Psyonix that resolution, on average, is 1024×576 in hadheld mode, and 1280×720 if docked. The resolution being  low does cause what some describe as blurriness when playing, but I’ve found that it looks more like anti-aliasing has been turned completely off. This means that the game looks very pixelated and what would be smooth lines on any other platform is a jagged line on the Switch.

One of the issues I do have with playing Rocket League while docked is the input lag from the joy cons. While this isn’t necessarily a Psyonix issue as it is a handheld problem, it’s a necessary mention since some players might notice as if they’re lagging when playing.

I should also note that the dynamic resolution feature the game sports does sometimes drop the frame rate from time to time.

Do a Barrel Roll!

Rocket League’s gameplay is obviously the selling point, and after almost three years of playing this game, I cannot believe how fun it still is.

For those new to the franchise, Rocket League features, by default, 3v3 matchups with a five-minute time limit. The cars can do acrobats and boost in the air to hit the ball. Boost isn’t infinite though, so you’ll have to be mindful and pick some up by driving over the orange lights on the ground.

You play in rather large stadiums with two goal posts on each end, and the objective is simple— Score more points than the other team. To accomplish this, you can go about it in a plethora of ways, ranging from jumps, flips, barrel rolls and even air balling it to score the finishing goal.

When you first start out, you won’t be used to flipping into the ball to launch it to the other side of the arena, or boosting in the air to save your team from losing, but when you get the hang of it, Rocket League opens the door to a world of adrenaline pumping action and wicked trick shots that make you stand up and scream with excitement.

For veterans of Rocket League, be aware that while playing with joy cons may seem super weird in theory, in practice they are excellent and feel completely natural. I almost forget I’m playing on the Switch and not on PC because of this, but there is a bit of adjusting to do if you’re playing docked.

No Boredom No Cry

Rocket League isn’t just about 3v3 match-ups, a myriad of different game types exist for every type of player. Whether you’ve one friend, two friends, or you hate just plain old rocket-powered battle-cars playing soccer, you can find a different game type that does it for you.

These include 1v1, 2v2, the default 3v3, and the incredibly crowded and panic-inducing 4v4 mode aptly titled “chaos,” because who knew adding two extra cars to the match could make it so wild to play.

Aside from the vanilla modes that only let you play car soccer, Psyonix includes game types that have different physics for the ball or cars called mutators.

There are five current mutators in the game:

  • Dropshot — Instead of scoring in a goal post, you’re objective is to use the electrified ball and break the opponents floor panels, and then score in those gaps. Highly recommend this mode if you’re wanting to yell at your TV a lot.
  • Rumble — The most beloved mode next to Snow Day, players are given 11 different power-ups that range from freezing the ball mid-air to punching your enemies in the windshield, all while trying to score the ball. This is by far the best party mode to play with friends.
  • Snow Day — It’s hockey and the people who play this mode play it religiously, so be prepared to lose until you’re matched with Steve Yzerman.
  • Hoops — Basketball meets rocket-powered cars that can do acrobats. I love this mode when wanting to practice aerial shots or just general car control in the air.
  • Rocket Labs — This one is a unique mode because all of the maps and matches are quite different every round. Why? Because this is the test environment for new modes and maps, so you’re interested in playing why Psyonix is coming up with next, give this one a go.

What about the competitive people who like to type “gg ez” into the chat and spam “what a save,” are there no ranked game modes? Of course there are. Rocket League sports four ranked playlists to choose from, all with their own separate rankings and elos.

You better practice in the very well done training mode before you start your path from gold to bronze though, because unlike the casual modes, knowing your ball control and positioning is crucial to winning matches.

Red Makes Car Fast

My absolute favorite thing about Rocket League is the insane amount of cosmetics that can be acquired and equipped. You can change the colors of pretty much everything on your car, as well as your booster, and apply different styles of textures, paints, and even give your car hats and custom antennas.

Along with dressing up your car and making it pretty, you can also switch (pun intended) up what type of car you play within casual and competitive matches. Want a truck? You got it. Want a race car that resembles what they drive in Formula 1? Go for it. It should be mentioned that each car does have a slight advantage or disadvantage that is NOT mentioned in the game. Some cars are better at drifting, some are better at controlling when in the air. If you want to know which car does what better, you can click here.

What game with a heavy emphasis on customization wouldn’t have loot boxes? Rocket League for the Nintendo Switch, whether by design or a requirement by Nintendo, ditched loot boxes that Rocket League has on other platforms. In fact, the only microtransactions you can pay for are the cars that were introduced with each new map or promotion.

There are 17 of these car packs, each ranging from $1.99 to $3.99. They all have different levels of customizations and handling mechanics as mentioned before. I know some people are going to bring up pay to win when hearing about cars with different handling mechanics and slight advantages, so I’ll make it clear that the balancing of cars is nowhere near broken or busted. In fact, I think the best handling car is the default you get when you open up the game, so no need to worry at all.

The Sweet Sound Of EDM in the Morning

I’ll make this short— Whoever does the selection of music for Rocket League has a special place in Valhalla because it is phenomenal. Other companies like EA that license music should use Rocket League as an example of how to pick music that sells itself and the game. The menu tracks get you pumped up for you competitive matches and also double as great montage songs for your compilation of wicked trick shot goals.

Rocket League is by far the best multiplayer game to be on the Nintendo Switch as of right now, and whether you’re a returning fan or you’re a curious outsider, and save the technical issues the port has, these are minor issues in the grand scheme of things of being able to enjoy Rocket League on the go.

Score: 9/10

Pros

  • Great performance that has a consistent 60 frames per second
  • Incredible customization to make you stand out
  • A plethora of game modes to keep you hooked
  • Incredible music selection

Cons

  • Low resolution makes the game not so pretty
  • Input lag while playing docked can be frustrating

Rocket League personally bought for the Nintendo Switch.  I reached gold in competitive multiplayer. You can read MP1st’s review and scoring policy right here.

Report: This Video Gives a Very Good Case That Loot Boxes & Microtransactions at EA Was Started by Andrew Wilson

While EA has received the brunt of hate and criticism due to Star Wars Battlefront II’s loot boxes and its pay-to-win-centric focus, the gameplay “feature” that seems to be everyone’s favorite didn’t start with Battlefront II, or with Blizzard’s Overwatch, or even mobile gaming’s f2p-dependent model, as some people think it did.

In this in-depth video report by SkillUp, he mentions that the pay-to-win formula and loot boxes approach to microtransactions come from EA CEO Andrew Wilson. In the video, which you can see below, you can see how the mechanic was introduced in EA’s UEAFA soccer games, though without the involvement of real-wold money. After the UEFA license expiration (which EA didn’t renew), someone  suggested that EA should implement the “Ultimate Team Mode” in publisher’s FIFA series, and this someone was none other than Matthew Prior, current Creative Director of the FIFA franchise. Prior then showed the design documents he had regarding the business model to an Executive Producer at EA who greenlit the money-driving mode, and that Executive Producer is none other than current EA CEO, Andrew Wilson.

The video then dives into how EA’s revenue skyrocketed with microtransactions in the FIFA franchise, and how the FIFA devs helped BioWare out to implement loot boxes in Mass Effect 3’s co-op multiplayer mode (remember that? Yep. it had loot boxes even back then!).

For reference, Andrew Wilson became CEO of EA just this 2013, and before that, was the Executive Vice President of EA Sports.

It’s an interesting watch and well worth the 26 minutes. Of course, bear in mind that some parts of the report might be inaccurate, nor are we getting the entire side of the story. Regardless, it’s an interesting look into EA’s implementation of the business model and whether it really is the brainchild of Andrew Wilson.

Do you think Wilson is the main catalyst in how EA handles games and microtransactions now? Or is this just a coincidence and this is how the games industry is trying to mitigate development costs? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

We moved the 24 Veteran Membership from level six to level two.
We also upped the credit reward at level two, six and nine from 5,000 to 10,000 credits, and put a 10,000 credit reward in at level eight.
Finally we added a 100 gold reward to level five and ten.

LOWERING XP FOR PILOTS

We have decided to lower the amount of xp earned by pilots adjusting them to match the other soldier types in Heroes & Generals
The reason for this is that we want all types of soldiers to be equally interesting to play in terms of progression and earnings. We want it to be fair to everyone, and to make sure that all players get a more balanced gameplay experience.

We will continue to monitor xp and earnings for all soldier types and possibly tweak them to uphold this balance.

What do you think about the latest Heroes & Generals patch? Let us know below.

Bandai Namco New Game Tease Features a Microwave GIF

A new Bandai Namco website has popped up, currently dedicated to displaying a single GIF. The animation shows a microwave, and then an egg-like object falling out of it. We’re then shown “10 days left”, which is presumably a countdown to a big reveal.

Take a look at the GIF for yourself below:

USgamer seems to think the egg in the microwave is a reference to the “My Hero Academia” anime. During episode 5 of season 1, the character All Might tells the protagonist that “he must imagine his superpower like an egg in a microwave.”

8 Star Wars Battlefront II Changes We Want to See Not Related to Microtransactions

While EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately, there is a solid game underneath all the loo crates, and gamer-fueled hate. We’re still giving the game its fair shake before we publish our review, but there’s already a few things we want changed when it comes to multiplayer, and for this list, we won’t touch on the microtransactions controversy for once.

Note that “multiplayer” in this regard means Galactic Assault, given it is the game’s main multiplayer mode.

So, what are the top things we want changed in Star Wars Battlefront II’s multiplayer? Check out the list to find out.

Gating Weapons and Attachments Because Progression

We get it, 2015’s Battlefront didn’t have much in terms of unlocks and progression, and we all know how multiplayer fans like that “carrot-on-a-stick” hook, right? For Battlefront II, DICE kind of went overboard and had every weapon in every class, and every gun attachment be gated by some sort of  challenge that ensures you’ll be using the “crap” weapons for quite a number of games before getting the good stuff.

Respawns Shouldn’t Take This Long and Not Reset When Changing Classes

battlefront 2 beginners guide

While Battlefront II might feel like an arcade shooter, it’s respawn time indicates otherwise. I’ve had instances where I had to wait 10 whole seconds to respawn, and then add in the time to trek to the actual places of engagements, and well, that’s 12-15 seconds of inactivity, which is not good for any multiplayer game.

While we’re on the subject, why does the respawn timer reset every time you back out to change classes, change Star Cards, etc? This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Head Scratching Squad System

star wars battlefront 2 progression

I’ve logged in a few hours of Battlefront II’s multiplayer, and I still can’t make any rhyme or reason as to what the squad system is, and how it works. Sure, we get more Battlepoints when we’re near our squad, but other than that, it seems, well, pointless. We can’t spawn in our squad, we can’t do anything to help them (like give ammo, med packs, etc.), and worse of all, there is no squad. It’s just a bunch of people grouped together to respawn at the same time.

This is more puzzling given DICE’s Battlefield game, which the studio has been making for decades, has a huge emphasis on squads.

Clunky Vehicle Controls

With DICE’s Battlefield franchise is know for vehicular warfare, one might assume that the same level of tight controls, balance and polish will be experienced in Battlefront II’s vehicles. Well, apparently, that’s not the case.

Spawning in as the AT-RT or other vehicles in Galactic Assault is sometimes an exercise in frustration when navigating the terrain. It’s not clear whether a vehicle can go or can’t go to one place, and the little items in the environment usually means you’ll be stuck somewhere.

Have Daily Crates Include a Star Card or Two

In case you didn’t know, layers get a “Daily Loot Crate” for logging in everyday in Battlefront II. However, the actual contents of each Daily Loot Crate fall into the “pathetic” category since it’s just a handful of credits and scraps. Yep, there are no actual Star Cards in ’em.

Players should get a random Star Card or two for the daily crate freebie! There’s no reason why we aren’t getting anynow.

Being Able to Craft Star Cards and Redeem Challenge Rewards While in Game

For some reason, DICE has made it so that if you want to craft Star Cards, redeem your reward for challenges, etc., you’ll have to do it in the main menu. You can’t craft Star Cards, redeem weapons from challenges in a match, which means you have to exit a game once you want to redeem a reward like weapon attachments, weapons and more.

Why is this the case? Search me, only thing I know is, it needs to be changed.

Increase the Credits Earned Per Match

It’s said that the credits you earn in each Battelfront II match is tied into your performance, but you wouldn’t know it due to the measly amount of credits you’re given. Did very well? Here’s 300 credits for you. Oh, you sucked this round? Well, here’s 275 credits! It’s not that cut and dry, but it’s close.

Make the difference tangible enough or we’ll see more of these “farming bots.”

Progression Without the Randomness

While Battlefront II has managed to escape the pay-to-win system (at least for now), the progression system is still nowhere near being ideal due to how random the loot crates system is. Instead of directly rewarding players with specific unlocks, we’re left at the mercy of the RNG (random number generator) gods that award us with random items in every crate, which means you’re playing to progress randomly. Let that sink in.

With how loot crates are integrated into the progression, it might be too tall a task to ask DICE to re-work it. There is a solution though; maybe give a loot crate after every level reached? Make it so that certain items can be earned via natural progression (item and skill-specific ones come to mind).

Whatever the case is, it should be better than what we have now.

Well, that’s it — at least for now. Are there any multiplayer changes that needs to be fixed in Star Wars Battlefront II that we didn’t touch on yet? If so, let us know what they are in the comments below.
