In addition to that, there’s new stuff out for mutliplayer as well!

No official patch notes have been released so far, but we’ll update the post to reflect any changes made (if any), though we do know that a new weapon has been released as part of this patch.

MAP REWORK: OREGON

The map reworks keep coming, and with Operation Void Edge, Oregon gets its turn. With this one, big changes come in small packages, so you’ll have no trouble recognizing the map while you adapt to the balancing.

With an updated look, most areas are more open and structured, but there are also new points of access and rotation. Big Tower now also connects directly to Kitchen on the first floor thanks to the Kitchen Corridor, and a new area in the basement called Freezer leads to the first floor with the Freezer Stairs.

Other access point changes include the removal of the door between Kitchen and Bathroom Corridor (now called Security Corridor), as well as the one leading into Dining Hall from the outside, which is replaced by a connection between Dining Hall and Small Tower. Attic has also changed, opening into Dorm Main Hall with a doorway, but losing its ladder down to Meeting Hall.

All of this serves to make rotations easier and safer for both Attackers and Defenders. Stay alert though, as many more breakable walls have been introduced all over the map.

There are a few more things to take note of when learning the ins and outs of this new iteration, but most notably: the Tower bomb site has been replaced with the new Meeting Hall and Kitchen alternative.

Check out all these changes and more on the test server, and feel free to submit your feedback on R6 Fix.

BARRICADE DEBRIS CONSISTENCY

One of the more impactful changes to note this season is how we approached the behavior of barricade debris. Previously, when partially breaking barricades, there would be a piece of debris that could get stuck in the remainder of the barricade and since this is done client-side, it could put a player at a significant advantage toward their opponent, due to a line of sight being blocked for one player but not for the other.

To avoid this situation and the frustration that comes with it, partially breaking a barricade with a weapon or a melee hit will now create much smaller debris. Additionally, when completely destroying a barricade, the behavior of the debris is improved to minimize occlusion caused by stacked debris on the top of a window sill and the base of a door frame.

ATTACKERS’ DRONE SPAWN

Attackers drone spawn is not random anymore. When playing on attack, your drone will now always spawn on the same side of the building as the one you first chose your operator to spawn from. We expect this change to simplify orientation for new players and to give more control on droning to veterans and organized teams. You can still change your operator spawn point afterwards, based on the intel you gathered during the prep phase.

PLAYER HUB CHANGES

On the menu side of things, the Play Section is getting revamped. The new, reorganized look is meant to makes things easier for you when choosing a Playlist to queue, and the new Playlist Guides will help you understand what every one of them entails.

LESION AND TWITCH CHANGES

Lesion was in need of some balancing, and with Operation Void Edge he gets just that. He will no longer be able to see his GU Mines through obstructions of any kind, or from a certain distance. Most importantly, though, when an opposing Operator steps on a GU, there will no longer be any initial damage, giving them time to take it out before it becomes a problem. However, we have increased each tick’s damage from 4 to 6. Finally, downed operators will not take any damage anymore from Gu Mines, triggering them to no effect.

Twitch is also getting some changes. Her Shock Drone will now start with three shots, but it will have a cooldown system similar to Echo’s Yokai drone. Its firing power has also been reduced to 1 point of damage. All this serves to turn Twitch’s focus to Defenders’ utility, while keeping her drone relevant over the duration of the round.

ASH ELITE SET: LARA CROFT

This season’s first Elite set is a special one. Ash is not in the habit of exploring old, decrepit ruins, but occasionally she’ll don the identity of Lara Croft, and she’ll do the work that entails: jumping headfirst into danger for the greater good.

Explore every corner of every map with Ash’s Tomb Raider uniform, headgear, victory animation, gadget skin for her M120 CREM Breaching Rounds and Launcher and weapon skins for the G36C, R4-C, M45 MEUSOC and 5.7 USG, as well as the Elite Ash Lara Croft charm, all of which will be available soon after the launch of Operation Void Edge.

OPERATORS PRICE DECREASE

Another wave of price decrease is coming! This time, Mira and Jackal’s prices will now be 10,000 Renown or 240 R6 Credits, Lion and Finka’s go down to 15,000 Renown or 350 R6 Credits, while Mozzie and Gridlock’s costs will decrease to 20,000 Renown or 480 R6 Credits.

VOID EDGE WEAPON SKINS

Three new seasonal weapon skins will be available this season, each with their own unique style

First: the sleek Saber Carve, influenced by the historical weaponry of Oryx’s region of origin.

Second: the playful Clog Dance, modeled after the traditional wooden shoes of Dutch culture.

Third: the colorful River Scale, inspired by Dragon Boat Festivals.

Seasonal weapon skins are released upon season launch and can be purchased during that season. Once unlocked, the seasonal weapon skins can be applied to all available weapons and will remain in the player’s inventory indefinitely.

YEAR 5 PASS

And so, our fifth year of Siege is about to kick off. If you want even more content, the Year 5 Pass is for you!

The Year pass includes access to 6 new Year 5 Operators and 6 new exclusive headgears and uniforms for them, as well as multiple exclusive customization items. You’ll also get the same VIP perks as always.

As a thank you gift to Year 4 Pass owners who renew their Pass for Year 5, we also offer 600 R6 Credits, as well as 2 Legendary and 3 Epic Alpha Packs.

PLAYER BEHAVIOR

Optional Cross-Chat

As part of our continuous efforts against in-game toxicity, we are introducing the ability to select more private chat channels for live games.

Chat will be set to ‘Team Only’ by default with this update, but players can select to see All or No Chat via their in-game settings (this option has no impact on the Custom Games).

Our data consistently shows that a very high percentage of Abusive Chat reports are from cross-chat. Currently, in Ranked, Unranked and Casual, close to 85% of reports for Abusive Chat are made against a player from the opposing team. Our aim is to make games a more welcoming experience, and return the focus of the in-game chat to strategic team-based communications.

Abandon Penalty Escalation for Ranked/Unranked

As we’ve seen improvements in connection and server stability, we’ll be re-activating the escalating abandon penalty for ranked and unranked.

BALANCING

Recruit Rework

To improve the Rainbow Six Siege onboarding experience, we’re re-assigning Recruit on a mission to lead and guide our new players. In Y5S1, recruit will have pre-set loadouts for ATT and DEF instead of CTU based loadouts. This will help ease the learning process and make recruit an ideal pick for new players familiarizing themselves with Siege.

Castle

Removed M45 secondary weapon and replaced with Super Shorty

Frost

  • Holographic scope added to Frost’s C1

Goyo

  • Falling onto Goyo’s Volcan only causes it collapse, instead of explode and propagate fire.

IQ

  • When objectives such as Bombs or Biohazard containers are still hidden during the action phase, if IQ detects them with her gadget she will reveal their location to her entire team.

Lesion

  • Gu mines visible to Lesion only when in direct LOS and within an 8 meter distance.
  • Removal of initial Gu mine damage tick.
  • Gu mine damage increased to 6 damage per tick (instead of 4).
  • DBNO players now immune to GU Mines. Being DBNO will still trigger them but the GU mines effect will not apply.

Twitch

  • Twitch Drone: Twitch’s drone will now use a charge system similar to Yokai drones instead of a set ammo count. Drones will start with the maximum ammo count of 3 shots and it will take 30 seconds to recharge a new shot.
    • Drone will start a round with 3 shots (instead of 5)
    • It takes 30s to fully recharge a shot, with a maximum carrying capacity of 3 shots per drone.
    • Drone shot cooldown reduced to 1s (from 2s)
    • Drone taser damage reduced to 1 hp (down from 10). Evil Eyes and Jager’s ADS gadget health also reduced to 1 hp.
  • Increased recoil for Twitch’s F2

Warden

Warden’s Smart Glasses will now run on a charge system and can be activated long as there is more than 20% left of his charge left. Activation lasts 10 seconds and needs 10 seconds for a full recharge.

  • Cooldown removed on Warden’s use of his gadget.
  • Warden can now control usage time and deactivate it manually, with a maximum activation time of 10 seconds.
  • His ability recharges at the same speed than it depletes. When fully depleted, it takes 10 seconds for it to be completely recharged

DMRs

  • Increased destruction for DMRs for faster destruction of barricades, hatches, and soft surfaces.

Vector .45

  • Vector damage increased to 23 (from 21)

Loadout Changes

  • Dokkaebi: Stun Grenades replacing Frag Grenades
  • Maverick: Frag Grenades replacing Stun Grenades
  • Nokk: Frag Grenades replacing Claymore
  • Ying: Frag Grenades replacing Claymore
  • Compensator removed from DMRs

WEAKS AND IMPROVEMENTS

GAME BALANCING

Explosions + Shrapnel Damage

We have reworked explosions and made changes some important changes to how explosion and the new shrapnel damage will work in Siege. This will make it clearer to players when they are damaged due to shrapnel damage from explosives. Damage taken by a player from an explosion is now determined by Shrapnel damage. The new Shrapnel damage will govern who is hit, and how much damage is taken given the player’s environment. It will apply reduced damage based on the number of objects it passes through from the origin of the explosion. Shrapnel damage should be more transparent in providing feedback to players on how they took damage or died. For a more detailed look at how explosions in Siege work, check out our Dev Blog.

Corner Explosions

We’ve improved how explosives interact in corners where there is both a hard and soft wall.

Indestructible Object Interference:

We’ve improved how explosives interact in situations where an indestructible object like a beam can block destruction damage on nearby soft walls.

PLAYER COMFORT

Stay in Drone After Prep Phase Option

Attackers will now have the option to stay in drone observation tools even when Prep Phase ends by selecting the “Drone after Prep” option in the Options Menu.

Drone random Spawn

Attacker drone spawn is now no longer random. Attacker drones will now always spawn on the same side of the building as your first selected spawn point. This change will give attackers more agency and coordination during prep phase, as well as help simplify orientation for new. You can still re-select your spawn point afterwards based on intel you gathered during the prep phase.

Caster HUD Updates

  • Caster HUD Revamp: The new Caster HUD gives the casters the ability to expand all 10 players for a global overview of the game at any given moment, without the need to see the scoreboard or a specific player point of view.
  • Player Cards: Cards can be toggled, allowing casters more flexibility for a specific situation, where they can choose between what we called condensed or expanded views. Condensed cards display the same amount of information as before, with added feedback for drones. You can follow a player point of view without missing any actions on the screen. Furthermore, expanded cards will allow all players’ statistics and operators’ loadouts to be displayed simultaneously.
  • Round Header: By moving player information, we could get more space to keep improving the narration of the game. The header will now display team names and clear defusing states when it happens.

Game Mode Name Change

The Terrorist Hunt playlist will be renamed to Training Grounds to better reflect what our community uses the playlist for. Terrorist Hunt Classic will be renamed to Elimination to more accurately depict the game mode players can expect when entering those games.

GAME HEALTH

Player Report Notifications

Players will receive notifications when a player they have reported has had an action taken against them.

Data Consolidation

To consolidate and reduce the overall game size, we have made some more improvements with restructuring how game data is stored. This means the season patch will be larger than normal.

Player Loadouts

With the start of Y5S1, we’re reworking how custom load-outs are saved in your player profile. If you log in at least once during Y5S1, we will be able to save and convert your custom loadout to the new load-out format. Players who don’t log in at least once during Season 1 will find a default loadout upon logging in come Y5S2.

Night Maps Removal from Custom

To better focus our team’s resources on creating a newer and better Rainbow Six Siege experience, we’ll be removing support for Night Maps from Custom game modes.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Void Edge patch notes addendum:

LEARNING AREA

Situations and Tutorials can now be found in the new Learning Area section.

The Learning Area is a new section that groups all learning-focused content in one place for easier navigation and better accessibility. We’ve also added new Learning Tips for beginners in the Learning Area to help new players ease more quickly into the Rainbow Six Siege experience. These tips will rotate automatically but players can scroll through the tips themselves as well.

BALANCING

YING

  • Removed Frag Grenades, replaced with Claymore

ELA

After the last buff to her Scorpion EVo3, we saw players primarily picking only the Scorpion and an overly large increase in her win-delta and pick-rate. We also observed Ela’s K/D and K/R ratios jump much higher than what we would like to see from a healthy balance change. While we still want to keep her Scorpion fun to play, our primary focus is to keep her balanced.

These changes are aimed at scaling back some of the changes made in Y4S4.3 and tweaking her EVo3 to be at a more appropriate power level closer to what we had in mind

  • Reduced recoil now only applies to the first 11 bullets
  • Increased resettle time after burst firing
  • Faster uptime to increase vertical recoil
  • Slightly increased recoil + spread

SMITE Update 11.34 Now Out, Here Are the Changes

While Hi-Rez Studios might have released the big SMITE “Ascendant Warrior” update last February, the second part of that patch is live now! This is called the SMITE 7.2 patch, or what console gamers will see as SMITE update 11.34.

Check out the list of changes in SMITE update 11.34 in the infograph below courtesy of Reddit user BluesUltra.

Also going live today is “Project Olympus.”

Esports and Live Streams

  • Fixed an issue where client showed incorrect times for upcoming SPL matches
  • Integrated a new reporting tool making it easier for the Hi-Rez Support team to identify players detected by our automated systems for review and action.

In addition to that, here are the other changes (bonus balance) for March 10:

Items

BLINK RUNE
“Blink creates moments where players can catch each other out of position quickly. It can close the gaps for an aggressive play or serve as a last minute escape with enough skilled jukes. Its strength, cooldown and distance covered allow it to be a constant threat that is difficult to counter. Adjusting these aspects should make the relic healthier as a whole while still allowing it to be a strong choice.”
  • Increased Cooldown from 120s to 140s.
  • Decreased Range from 55 to 45.

UPGRADED BLINK RUNE
  • Cooldown remains unchanged at 120s.
  • Decreased Range from 55 to 45.

MACE
“Mace is the go-to for many junglers, who rely on that extra power to keep up in clear speed. However, a difficult choice arises if you need Hand of the Gods because this start requires junglers to skip potions. This adjustment will not only allow that start to be possible but also give an extra potion for the junglers, giving them more health to play around with in the early game if they so choose.”
  • Decreased cost from 700 to 650.
    • All Tier 2 and Tier 3 items building from this will remain the same total cost.

SHOES OF THE MAGI
“Season 7 Penetration adjustments left these shoes in a strange spot. Power was added, but adding any more power to makeup for the penetration loss would increase Mage damage to non-god targets to a dangerous level. We tried to find a middle ground but they ended up feeling lackluster compared to Shoes of Focus. Rather than just focusing on these as damage boots we are adding some sustain elements to give them their own niche.”
  • Added 8% Lifesteal
  • Added 100 Mana

TRANSCENDENCE
“Transcendance has become core in a variety of builds. While we like gods having an option to rush into solid power and mana regen, the cooldown reduction pushed it over the edge. We are moving the Cooldown Reduction to the fully evolved form which gives other items more room to fit into builds.”
  • No longer provides 10% Cooldown Reduction.
  • Now provides 10% Cooldown Reduction when fully evolved.
Gods
KUKULKAN
“Kukulkan has really stormed into play, becoming a serious top level pick and succeeding across the game. The changes to his base stats and Whirlwind helped him be more impactful, and after a partial revert on Whirlwind this ability is in a solid spot. Rather than fully reverting him we are targeting other aspects like his Passive that contributes heavily to his damage output, and his ultimate cooldown which enables objective secure.”

POWER OF THE WIND JEWEL (PASSIVE)
  • Decreased Power gained from Mana from 5% to 4%.

SPIRIT OF THE NINE WINDS
  • Increased Cooldown from 70s to 90s.
NEMESIS
“Nemesis fans in Season 7 were not happy with a small power scaling increase on Swift Vengeance. Given Nemesis’ history where single balance adjustments could really tip the scales with her and a whole new Season approaching, we were perhaps too reserved. As things have now settled we are reducing the cooldown on Slice and Dice, improving her clear speed and giving her more opportunities to get damage out.”

SLICE AND DICE
  • Decreased Cooldown from 13s to 11s.
ODIN
“A familiar sight in our new Bonus Balance format. Odin’s rework gave him significantly more flexibility and strength and this strength has stayed through multiple adjustments. Raven Shout shield makes him difficult to fight against and contributes heavy burst when used in the bird bomb. We are toning this and Gungnir’s Might’s scaling by 10%, taking some of the edge off these abilities. Ring of Spears is more widely applicable and is now on the level of other ultimate abilities. A cooldown of 90s now feels right.”

RAVEN SHOUT
  • Decreased Physical Power Scaling of Shield Health from 60% to 50%

GUNGNIR’S MIGHT
  • Decreased Physical Power Scaling from Gungnir Throw Damage from 60% to 50%

RING OF SPEARS
  • Increased Cooldown from 75s to 90s
VAMANA
“This god has seen colossal growth in win-rate metrics since his most recent change. Vamana’s buff gave him too much immediate speed, allowing him to quickly outpace enemies off a few hits. We are spreading this out more to give enemies more time to get away before full speed is reached.”

COLOSSAL FURY
  • This ability now provides 3% Movement Speed per stack on successful hit and stacks up to 5 times
    • Changed from 5% Movement Speed and 3 stacks

We’ll get a recap of sorts for the next patch for SMITE within the day, so stay tuned.

NFL and 2K Announce Partnership to Develop “Multiple Video Games”

Tired of EA dominating the professional football video game market with their yearly Madden entry? Do you have fond memories of NFL 2K series from way back? If so, you’re in for a treat! Today, 2K and the NFL announce an NFL 2K partnership that sees the video game publisher develop “multiple new” video games in this multi-year deal!

In the press release, the partnership marks the return of football-themed games to 2K Games. The actual financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The press release sent out states that the games will be “non-simulation football game experiences.” with the specific game title, developers, and release dates announced at a later date. 2K has also confirmed that projects are in early development, and will launch “starting in calendar year 2021,” which is part of Take-Two’s fiscal year 2022 (Take-Two is 2K Games’ parent company).

The NFL is one of the most successful sports brands in the world, known for creating incredible entertainment for fans…We’re thrilled to be back in business with the NFL in a partnership that will span multiple video games centered on fun, approachable and social experiences. It’s exciting to bring together 2K’s expertise in creating award-winning sports games with the NFL’s renowned status as a world-class entertainment and sports organization. – David Ismailer, President of 2K Games

For reference, the last mainline entry in the NFL 2K series was back in 2002, with the series getting two more entries with a collaboration with ESPN. The last entry in that was ESPN NFL 2K5, which was released back in 2004 for the PS2, and Xbox.

2K Games is no stranger to the sports scene, as the publisher’s NBA 2K series is highly regarded as the best basketball sim year in, and year out. Hopefully, the NFL equivalent is of the same quality (minus the micortransactions).

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Next Update Hitting March 11, Patch Notes Released

While we got the big Age of Rebellion update for Star Wars Battlefront 2 a few weeks ago, DICE is planning to roll out the Star Wars Battlefront 2 next update on March 11! This “small patch” includeshost of fixes as one might expect and no new content. Check out the full patch notes below, as well as some of the bugs introduced via the Age of Rebellion update that are being fixed with this patch.

Here are some of the big changes coming:

DICE will be implementing a change that will ensure all troopers and heroes are dressed in any planet-specific appearances across the Age of Rebellion planets.

Randomization of head options for Officers in Co-Op.

Ability for Ewok Hunters Auto Players to now perform the spear melee attack.

Visual issue where inacccurately high numbers were shown under the player damaged UI element.

Scoreboard change introduced in Age of Rebellion would show the class level of everyone in the match; a visual issue would sometimes happen where all levels would be based on your own, and this has been fixed.

In Co-Op, DICE fixed an issue that would cause the AI to only take one route going to Jabba’s Palace. After the patch, the AI will now take multiple paths, which means you can no longer sit at one doorway while defending.

Matchmaking issue have been addressed, which includes a fix that addresses the problem that would sometimes cause a game server to place everyone on the same team.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 March 11 patch notes:

  • Fixed an issue where the Play Any button would not be able to matchmake into a game.
  • Fixed an issue that would occasionally cause a game server to matchmake players into the same team.
  • Fixed an issue that would occasionally lead players to be matchmade into opposing teams when transitioning to a new round of Co-Op.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the AI opponents to only take one path on Jabba’s Palace – Co-Op Defend.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause a delay when attacking after evading.
  • Set up planet-specific appearances for Heroes and Troopers on the Age Of Rebellion maps.
  • Added randomization of head options for Officers controlled by AI.
  • Fixed an issue where the AI Officers on Hoth would show up with wrong names.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause Yoda to be occasionally invincible against certain opponents.
  • Added more info to show how to unlock certain weapon mods.
  • Fixed an issue where the ISB Agent would be blocked from firing her blasters for too long, after performing a melee strike.
  • Fixed a visual issue where the Ewok’s Hunter’s Instincts ability would show footprints on top of the trail left behind by BB9E.
  • Fixed an issue where snow particles would sometimes be visible indoors when playing on Starkiller Base.
  • Fixed various visual issues with texture popping on the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer.
  • Fixed various visual and collision issues on the MC85 Star Cruiser and Death Star II.
  • Added the spear melee attack for Ewok Hunters controlled by AI
  • Made minor visual improvements to the Ewok Hunter’s abilities.
  • Fixed a visual issue where inaccurately high numbers were shown under the “PLAYER DAMAGED” score event, after defeating an enemy.
  • Added support for Cyrillic characters in the chat window when playing in non-Russian versions of the game.
  • Fixed an issue where the Scoreboard would not show the accurate class level of other players, or when deploying with vehicles.
  • Class level now appears on the Scoreboard when playing Starfighter Assault and Hero Starfighters.
  • Removed the class level for AI players on the Scoreboard.
  • Fixed an issue where the button to view the profile of another player on the Scoreboard would not work.

That’s a lot of fixes for a “small patch,’ no? Once the patch is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Call of Duty Warzone Details – Everything You Need to Know

In case you didn’t see it, Activision (finally) officially announced Call of Duty: Warzone with a brand new trailer. Have questions about the latest Call of Duty: Warzone announcement? We got you covered with our Call of Duty Warzone details and info post!

What is Call of Duty: Warzone?

Call of Duty: Warzone is Infinity Ward’s modern shooter take on the Battle Royale genre. Now, Battle Royale is nothing new to the Call of Duty series as Black Ops 4 featured Black Out. However, Infinity Ward is upping the antics with more players and features than ever before, to give one truly unique battle royale experience.

  • In Warzone’s Battle Royale mode, drop into the massive Verdansk world with 150 players in teams of three to loot and fight to be the last squad standing in a colossal firefight
  • In this redefined Battle Royale, players of all skill levels and playstyles will find new ways to play and be rewarded in the survival game mode
  • Players can collect in-match Cash to purchase equipment, Field Upgrades, Killstreaks or Revive Tokens for fallen teammates at Buy Stations located throughout the map to help turn the tide of war
  • Squads can choose to take on Contracts, optional in-match mini-missions located throughout the map that payout in epic in-match rewards upon completion, including rare loot, in-match Cash, XP, and Weapon XP to help squads get the upper hand on the competition
  • If you go down in a match, it doesn’t mean you’re out for the count. In Warzone’s Battle Royale, there are different ways players can earn their way back into the fight:
    • The Gulag is an all-new way to earn a second chance at survival in Battle Royale. Upon being eliminated, players will be taken to the Gulag to face-off against another fallen player in a 1v1 winner-takes-all gunfight, for a chance to redeploy back into the match
    • In addition, players can earn enough in-match Cash to purchase a Self-Revive Kit in order to heal themselves after being downed by an opponent
    • Players can also bring back fallen teammates by earning enough in-match Cash to purchase a Squad Buyback at Buy Stations scattered throughout the map
  • Warzone Vehicle list
    • ·     ATV – two-seater, provides minimal protection, good at offroading, fast.·     Tactical Rover – four-seater, provides minimal protection, solidly fast, solid at off-roading.·     SUV – four-seater, provides good protection, medium speed, not ideal for off-roading.·     Cargo Truck – holds the squad plus equipment, excellent protection, not for off-roading, slowest.·     Helicopter – four-seater, decent coverage, flies.

What is Call of Duty: Warzone’s Plunder Mode?

In Plunder, teams are tasked with collecting money and must reach $1 million within the 30 minute time window. First team to reach $1 million dollars will offset an overtime counter, where all teams will have the opportunity to rack up some major doe. The team with the highest amount in the end wins.

  • Warzone also features the all-new, large-scale combat mode Plunder, where the freedom and gameplay variety of Battle Royale meets fast-paced Call of Duty action
  • In Plunder, teams drop into an action-packed race to collect as much in-match Cash as possible by raiding Supply Boxes, eliminating opponents, completing Contracts or by controlling key Cash deposit locations throughout the map. Cash can be deposited in a Helicopter or Baloon deposits.
  • Each player gets unlimited respawns, their own loadout, killstreaks and more, as they employ multiple team strategies to grow and safeguard their collection of in-match Cash. Death will cause a player to lose their money.
  • There are a variety of ways to achieve victory, creating nearly endless epic moments and creative possibilities to win this battleground heist
  • Create a class is enabled in this mode

When does it release and on which platforms?

Warzone will officially go live this Tuesday, March 10th at 8 AM PT // 10 AM CT // 11 AM ET for owners who currently have Modern Warfare. For everyone else, it will be the same day at 12 PM PT // 2 PM CT // 3 PM ET. It will be available on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Full rollout times can be found below

How much is it going to cost?

Despite Warzone being a separate standalone title from 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the title is completely free for everyone. No purchase needed whatsoever. If you own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, you can access Warzone through the in-game menu. New players will be able to download Warzone for their respective market absolutely free.

How big is the file size?

Current Modern Warfare owners who are up to date on software can expect the download size to be 18-22GB. For new players, the download will 83-101GB. This is most likely because the whole Modern Warfare game is being downloaded.

Is PlayStation Plus subscription or Xbox Gold membership required?

Since the game is free-to-play, you will not be required to have a PlayStation Plus subscription on the PlayStation 4. As for Xbox users, free-to-play titles are locked behind the online paywall, so yes, an Xbox Gold membership will be required.

Are there benefits to having a subscription to either platform?

Outside of their normal offerings (free games, discounts, online play), the only subscription that will get Warzone benefits is PlayStation Plus. If you are subscribed to PlayStation Plus, Warzone players will receive exclusive monthly drops similar to Fortnite, Warframe, and many other free-to-play titles.

Does the game support cross-play? With what platforms?

Like Modern Warfare, Warzone does indeed feature cross-play support between PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 owners.

Can you opt-out of cross-play?

While Modern Warfare allowed you to turn off cross-play features via menu, it would appear that Warzone does not allow this option according Drift0r

Is there Unified progression between the platforms?

Yes, Warzone does feature cross-save progression between all the platforms. All you have to do is be signed in with your Activision account on your desired platform and progress will carry over. There is also no level cap.

How many players does it support?

At launch, Warzone will be able to support a total of 150 players on a single map. There have been talks to expand this number to 200, though that is yet to be confirmed.

Is there a Battle Pass? What if I bought the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Battle Pass, will this apply to Warzone?

Yes, there is a Battle Pass for Warzone, and yes it is unified across both titles. For players who do not own the full version of Modern Warfare, all progress and items they’ve earned in Warzone will be rewarded in Modern Warfare, should they ever choose to purchase it. It’s one Battle Pass for both games.

Are there microtransactions?

Yes, however, they are solely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay. The same item shop that is in Modern Warfare is the same one in Warzone as is the Battle pass. It’s all shared. What you buy will show up in both versions, even if you don’t currently own the paid one.

We’ll be sure to update this post with any additional questions you may have. In the meantime, be sure to check out some early gameplay before Warzone drops tomorrow: Call of Duty: Warzone Gameplay Videos

Battlefield 1 New Game Mode for the Week – Shock Operations

Those not familiar with Shock Operations, here’s a brief description from the Battlefield fandom wiki page:

We’ll keep an eye out for next week’s mode refresh, as well as any new info regarding Battlefield 1.

EA Patents Game Assist Feature That Detects Game-State Performance in Multiplayer; New Battle Pass System

Here’s a rather interesting thought: What if a game could detect when a player is having connection issues and assist the player by improving it or pausing the game? Interesting? Well, it seems publisher EA has looked into it, so much so, that recent EA patents have surfaced and this one stood out to us front and center.

EA has filed a patent at the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) for “Client detection of game-state performance for triggering game assist” which was filed back in 2018, but only granted last week. In the description, it specifically mentions multiplayer.

Various aspects of the subject technology relate to systems, methods, and machine-readable media for improving multiplayer gameplay continuity. The disclosed method includes monitoring multiple buffers corresponding to multiple clients. The method also includes determining a first buffer is over a first threshold, the first buffer corresponding to a first client. The method also includes notifying the multiple clients that the first buffer of the first client is over the first threshold. The method also includes receiving a response from each of the clients, the response based on an in-game status. The method also includes pausing gameplays for each of the clients except the first client when the in-game status is favorable to pausing the gameplays for the first client.

The last bit about pausing the client is really interesting. While we don’t expect to see this in any shooter, multiplayer titles such as MOBA, RTS, and strategy games may benefit from this feature.

EA has also filed a patent (via SegmentNext) at the USPTO on a “Seasonal Reward Distribution System,” wherein a Battle Pass will offer a non-linear path when it comes to rewards. So in effect, if you’re progressing in a Battle Pass, you’ll then be able to choose which path of rewards you’re most interested in and so on.

Here’s the description:

The present disclosure provides a video game based seasonal reward distribution system. The seasonal reward system can provide users with a non-linear map that allows the users to choose how to progress through the reward map when advancing or leveling up a virtual character or user account within the video game. The virtual map can provide a visual representation of a non-linear pathway or tracks that a user can follow based on how the user would like to proceed and what types of rewards the user prefers to unlock. The reward map provides a series of reward nodes connected by links, resulting in a plurality of pathways or tracks that a user can select during advancement within the video game. The user can select individual reward nodes when the virtual character levels up and progress along a pathway on the virtual map.

Now, this sounds a lot better than the first patent filed, no? I can see a non-linear Battle Pass doing well, though players might complain that the studio/publisher just give out everything instead of having them choose, though. Given the patent has only been granted last week, perhaps this is something EA will announce sometime this year or beyond?

Now before anyone panics regarding the multiplayer patent, remember that companies/studios file a lot of patents, and there’s no guarantee that they’ll implement them in games. That said, I’d really hope we don’t see it come to fruition since SBMM is enough of a drag as it is, no?

What do you make of these EA patents and do you think the publisher will somehow sneak game assist in for those not doing well so they’ll continue playing? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Complete Call of Duty Warzone Map Revealed; Includes Markers, Locations & More

Just last week, we posted the Call of Duty Warzone map that was leaked via datamined files. Today, though, we have something much, much better! Below, you’ll see the complete Call of Duty Warzone map, which now includes location names, markers, and more!

In an accidentally published video by Youtuber Chaos, we got our first true gameplay look at Call of Duty: Warzone. Amongst the new footage and info drop that came with the video, we now finally have an official look at the Call of Duty: Warzone map, which isn’t very different from the earlier leaks. Have a look down below.

According to the video, the areas contained in the map are a mix of new, old and custom made maps that players will most likely appreciate with their throwbacks to past Call of Duty games. Every building is also uniquely designed, meaning no copy and pasted buildings scattered throughout the level.

There are a total of 20 confirmed zones in the Call of Duty: Warzone Map

  • Dam
  • Military Base
  • Quarry

We expect all these areas to have actually names since the Gulag is simply called “prison” on the map.

And don’t worry about being lost when you first spawn into the Warzone map, as there are visual indicators as to where each location is when parachuting in.

Based on reports, we’re expecting Call of Duty: Warzone to be available this Tuesday as a free-to-play battle royale for PC, Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4. It will support cross-platform play, just like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019, along with cross-save progression support and a number of other features. Stay tuned as more details will be revealed shortly.

Spawn Creator Todd McFarlane on Violence Linked to Gaming – “We can’t let them control what we can create”

Speaking in a recent interview, comic book character Spawn’s creator Todd McFarlane discusses his feelings towards the media linking violence and video games, and big corporation protecting their IPs.

Todd McFarlane is no stranger when it comes to heavy violence, seeing that his own character Spawn is seen as one of the most violent comic book characters to date. So when NetherRealms Studio approached Todd to use Spawn as a guest character, Todd had no issue whatsoever, as long as the team went all out with him. And from what he has said, they haven’t disappointed him, despite the thought of big corporations wanting to protect big properties.

The only criticism that will come from me will be that they didn’t go far enough. Big corporate brands want to protect everything because they have so much money invested in these characters and things like that, but that really limits what you can do. So I said, go full boat.

And judging from the latest gameplay trailer, Spawn doesn’t hold back on the violence at all. And this has pleased Todd, though as a general statement he believes that with recent media events on mass violence and such, game developers shouldn’t be afraid and to not allow it to limit them in their creativity.

There are a ton of people like us who see those kinds of things ( Mortal Kombat’s Fatalities) and chuckle, you know it’s out there and it is kind of funny, but there are other people who really can’t grasp this concept. These are the people who don’t play video games so they couldn’t understand, and to me, this is offensive to us on a couple of different levels.

There is no documented science that proves that video games correlate to real-life violence. If there was, you know that whenever this conversation comes up, they would wave it in front of our faces, but it doesn’t, so they don’t.

People are capable of partaking in media and not being influenced to do terrible things. Kids know the difference between the ages of 5-7 that what they see on TV isn’t real. Whenever they are watching Looney Tunes, they know there isn’t a 6-foot tall rabbit that can talk, or you know a talking mouse named Mickey.

Somehow, somewhere down the line, when we all get older, people who are between 18 and 25, they all of a sudden become incapable of doing this. I don’t buy that, that’s not how people work.

Just say you don’t like the content. These things are no more harmful than the typical action movie. There are bad people out there sure, psychopaths, who do awful things, but we can’t let them control what we can create.

I for one agree with Todd’s statement as I always feel that developers should be allowed to create the vision that they want to. Criticism is bound to happen from any front, but it’s the risk that this industry needs once again, rather than catering to what everyone wants.

Speaking of McFarlane and video games, his most famous creation, Spawn, is in Mortal Kombat 11, and will be released very soon!

Call of Duty Warzone Ads Have Popped Up Online Ahead of Official Reveal

Rumored since it launched last year, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle royale mode might just possibly be one of the most poorly guarded secrets in gaming of all-time. Well, if recent rumors are to be believed, the official reveal for Call of Duty Warzone is set to happen very soon, and it seems Activision’s marketing arm just jumped the gun.

Appearing on Twitch before being taken down are ads showcasing Call of Duty Warzone! The ads even have a “Join Now” button and seems to continue Activision’s co-marketing deal with Sony PlayStation. Thankfully, there are screengrabs of the ads before they got pulled (via unofficial Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone Discord)!

Clicking the ad leads to this landing page, which just routes to the PlayStation Plus sign-up homepage. Refreshing it now, the ad has since been removed and people will only see this:

Rumors have pointed to March 10 being the release of Warzone and that it’ll be free-to-play (F2P) and will be a standalone experience to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It will supposedly be available first to Modern Warfare owners, and for PlayStation users, they’ll get exclusive PS+ perks, similar to what other free-to-play games offer. Given that actual gameplay has already leaked for Warzone, it’s just a matter of time until Activision themselves announce it, since its existence is a certainty. We are expecting a reveal later today if the title is indeed releasing this coming Tuesday.

Once Activision announces it and such, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Are you excited to play Warzone? What are you expecting from it?

Ed Boon Confirms Support for Mortal Kombat 11 to Continue, More Surprises and News Down the Line

The Mortal Kombat’s Kombat Pack may be concluding later this month, but game co-creator and creative director Ed Boon has confirmed that this will not be the end of Mortal Kombat 11 support.

After debuting the Red Band Trailer for the Mortal Kombat Animated Movie at the Final Kombat 2020 Tournament, Ed took to the stage to thank the community, followed by an official statement confirming that more support will be coming to Mortal Kombat 11 throughout the year.

Thank you everybody for supporting Mortal Kombat. We love to do these reveals at these events as a thank you for all of this support for all of these years. There is a lot more to come with Mortal Kombat as well, this isn’t the end of the whole support for this game. We’ve got a lot of surprises in store.

He didn’t elaborate as to what kind of support (or surprise) we will see come to Mortal Kombat 11 after Spawn’s release, but we can most likely expect to see an announcement of a second Kombat Pack down the road. Especially since the original datamine from when the game first launched has been 100% correct in terms of DLC characters. According to the original leak, we still have Ash from the Evil Dead series and both Fujin and Sheeva from the Mortal Kombat series.

Of course, nothing is 100% confirmed, and those characters could have very well been swapped out for other characters seeing as the leak is now over a year old. So take the current rumored DLC characters with a grain of salt until an official reveal is made.

The event did close off with one more tease by host Joshua Grey, stating that fans should follow all the social media accounts, suggesting that an announcement will be made there sometimes this year.

Thank you to everyone that tuned in, for supporting the players, for all the tournament, continue to support your local and online events. And for more further information in regards to news down the line, THAT’S All I CAN SAY, make sure to follow all the social accounts.

Kombat Pass is set to release it’s the final character, Spawn, on March 17. For non-pass holders, you’ll be able to pick him up one week later (March 24) for $5.99 along with the newly announced Matenee Skin Pack.

Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn Gameplay Trailer Breaks Free From Hell

The Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn gameplay trailer is finally here! As previously announced, NetherRealms Studios gave us our first look at the final Kombat Pass DLC character, Spawn during the Final Kombat tournament event.  You can watch the trailer down below, which goes over a variety of moves that the character will have along with some of their fatalities. Comic and show/movie fans may even notice some of those Easter eggs snuck away in the trailer.

We definitely see Spawn being one of the most played characters after watching that Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn gameplay trailer. He certainly is one of the coolest guest characters to join the Mortal Kombat roster in recent years.

And in case you were wondering, yes that is legendary star/voice actor Keith David is reprising his role as Spawn. He previously voiced the character in the 1997 HBO Spawn animated series, which had a complete run of three seasons before being canceled in 1999. Gotta say, this certainly is a blast from the past and we are glad that NetherRealms Studio was able to get Keith to once again voice the iconic character.

Spawn will be released for Mortal Kombat 11 on March 17 for early access Kombat Pass holders and as a separate purchasable on March 24. His release will mark the end of the first Kombat Pass, and although NetherRealms have yet to reveal any news if there will be a second pass, the early datamines so far have been proven to be correct, suggesting that we are in for another pass. Be on the lookout in the coming weeks as influencers will get earlier access to the character to show him off in more detail. Stay tuned for more coverage!

Modern Warfare Progression Bug Happening Now, Affecting XP, Challenges & More (Update)

Those playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer today, you might have noticed a Modern Warfare progression bug happening right this moment where XP, challenges and more do not seem to be tracking.

Over on the Modern Warfare subreddit, multiple threads have cropped up where players are complaining about this Modern Warfare progression bug.

End Game Stats and XP Not being Recorded?
byu/ruacanobeef inmodernwarfare

None of my kills are being applied to challenges, and I haven’t received any XP for the matches I’ve played for the last three games. I’ve tried restarting the game and my PC, but nothing seems to work… I’m trying to go for gold on my guns, so this is kind of frustrating… Any tips on how to resolve this? I think someone falsely reported me because I was camping the wall in shoot house and it pissed him off lol, would that lock my account in this way or something?

You’d think that after the game has been out this long they would have fixed the challenge tracking by now.
byu/viennery inmodernwarfare

Is anyone else not having any challenges track or gaining no xp from matches?
by inmodernwarfare

Over on Twtter, Infinity Ward acknowledged the issue and announced that they will provide an update when they have more info. As far as we know, this issue is affecting all players from all three platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One).

If you manage to find a fix, share them down in the comments below. We’ll update this post once we know more info.

Update (3/9/20):

As of four hours ago from the time of this update, Infinity Ward says that things still arent’t fixed:

We’ll provide another update once it’s resolved.
