The Division 2 Episode 3 Content Listed, New Raid Won’t Be Included

Agents, Ubisoft Massive just did their first State of the Game developer stream for The Division 2! Since it’s the start of the new year, there’s a bunch of stuff touched upon by the studio, chief among which are bug fixes, known issues, and The Division 2 Episode 3 content outline.

Set to drop this February (no definite date yet), Episode 3 will be free for everyone, and will once again come with bug fixes, gameplay changes, and of course, new content.

The Division 2 Episode 3 content:

  • 2 New Main Missions
  • 2 Classified Assignments for Year 1 Pass owners
  • 1 New Specialization (no information as of now) – Instant unlock for Year 1 Pass owners
  • New Exotic Weapon that (among other things) adapts its color to the environment. (Image)

Note that Ubisoft has confirmed that the new Raid will not be part of Episode 3. And for those hoping to catch their first bite of the gameplay changes via the PTS (Private Test Server) for Episode 3, that won’t be happening. Ubisoft has mentioned that they are doing this to avoid spoiling new missions for the players, and also, no balancing changes are planned for this update, so there’s really nothing to test.

Aside from that,Ubisoft has also outlined some of the bugs the studio is aware of, this include invisible walls, shotguns in PvP, and more.

Priority Alerts

Maintenance

There was maintenance on Tuesday that introduced the Legacy Caches into the game. More about them in the paragraph below. In short, the new Legacy Caches can be bought with money, they have a limited amount of items and they have no duplicates. They can’t be earned in-game.

Known Issues

Raid Leaderboards

There is a situation with the Raid Leaderboards where players found a way to beat the raid faster than it supposed to be. That shows on the leaderboards. This is something they are looking at and since the players are listed on the leaderboards, it gives them something to work with. Depending on the investigation, they will look into if they can be removed from the leaderboards.

Raid Activity Summary

There are issues with the Raid Activity Summary that the results are not listed correctly. They are working on a solution and they will probably remove the summary for now until it is fixed.

Invisible Walls

There has been a lot of investigation into the reported invisible walls, that players encounter in the open world. This basically has to do with streaming from the hard drive that loads the data that is displayed on the screen. Depending on how fast (or slow) that hard drive is, it can become a bottleneck and that in essence leads to the invisible walls when the map is not fully loaded yet. That has been identified and they are working on solutions that should be delivered asap.

Shotguns in PVP

They know that the shotguns are an issue in PVP and they will address it in Episode 3.

Enemies stuck in Spawns

They know about this issue and it should be addressed in Episode 3.

For those looking forward to this month’s State of the Game presentations, Ubisoft has also given a roadmap of what will be discussed this month.

  • Next week (Item Stats and RNG – UI Changes)
  • Two weeks (Recalibration, Inventory and Stats Management)
  • Three Weeks (Episode 3 Content and Specialization)

Once we know when The Division 2 Episode 3 will be out, we’ll be sure to announce it.

Hitman 2 January 2020 Roadmap Revealed

It’s the new year, and that’s not stopping Agent 47 from picking off targets! Today, IO Interactive has revealed the Hitman 2 January 2020 roadmap! Players can expect new Contracts straight from the community, a new Elusive Target and lots more!

Hitman 2 January 2020 roadmap:

Featured Contracts

We’ve hand-picked 11 Contracts from the Official Submission Thread on Hitman Forum and they will be added to the game for everyone to play on January 9th. This month’s theme was ‘Stay Frosty’ – but don’t expect to spend all of your time in Hokkaido. There’s a good mix of locations and targets for you to enjoy.

Elusive Target Reactivation

The Undying returns is back! We’re starting a full reactivation of all HITMAN 2 Elusive Targets, starting with the very first one: The Undying! For 10 days, Mark Faba will be in Miami and available to play for anyone who ‘missed’ him the first time around. If you’ve already completed or failed this Elusive Target, your record will stand and the contract will remain closed.

Curated Contracts

In addition to Featured Contracts, we have also got a community curator lined up to pick some of their favourite contracts and have them included in the game. We’ll also be giving them some room on the blog to tell us why they chose the contracts. The first Curator will be MulletPride, a regular name amongst the Hitman Community.

It’s unclear for now whether this will require a patch or just a server-side update. Once we know more though, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Over on Twitter, Senior System Designer for Apex Legends Eric Hewitt replied to a fan asking if there’s an official way to report players for pulling the Apex Legends ranked dashboarding move.

As you can see above, Hewitt replied that there’s no need to report it manually, as the studio can see it in on their end. In another tweet, Hewitt confirmed that there will be “immediate punishment” in the future, and that things will be handled “soon.”

As for those worried that their legit disconnects from the game might be flagged as dashboarding, Hewitt states that players shouldn’t be worried, as long as they didn’t abuse the dashboarding trick.

My guess is, they can pretty much tell if it’s a random disconnect, as opposed ot one being done all the time.

This is definitely good news for ranked players of Apex Legends. Once we know more, we’ll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, did you know that Apex Legends was included in our Best of 2019 list? Read on to find out why.

Modern Warfare Playlist Update Rolled Out Today

While we still don’t have news when the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare patch will drop, Infinity Ward has rolled out a new Modern Warfare playlist update today, and it’s live now. Chief among the changes are the removal of Shoot House 24/7, and there’s a new Gunfight variant too!

– 1v1 Gunfight (2v2 Gunfight is still available)
– 5v5 Shipment 24/7 (Replaces Shoot House 24/7)
– Gun Game (Replaces Grind)

Note that this is a server-side update, and doesn’t need a download. Don’t expect any weapon and balance changes as well, but if we find any, we’ll let our readers know.

As for the actual patch, Infinity Ward has mentioned that players will get additional custom loadout slots as part of it, and the Nuke calling card might make its way out then too.

If you spot any changes included in this playlist update, let us know what they are down in the comments.

Call of Duty WW2 Update 1.25 Shoots Out (Update)

Update: It seems Call of Duty WW2 update 1.25 didn’t bring anything new at all, and is just for CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) Compliance. This was confirmed by Sledgehammer Games today.

Well, here’s something new, it seems Sledgehammer Games has pushed out a Call of Duty: WWII (stylized as Call of Duty WW2) today. Players will see this as Call of Duty WW2 update 1.25, and it clocks in at 2GB on PS4, and 4.8GB on PC.

Unfortunately, Sledgehammer Games has not released any patch notes for COD WW2 update 1.25 just yet, and based on player testimonies so far, it seems to be bug fixes mostly. We’re keeping an eye out for the changes and once we know more, we’ll update the post.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, check out our Call of Duty mltiplayer released this decade ranking piece, where Call of Duty WW2 ranked quite high. And if you haven’t played the game in some time, Sledgehammer unlocked all DLC weapons from the game mid last year!

If you notice any big changes, let us know and we’ll update the post with the info.

Disclaimer
Goat Simulator is a completely stupid game and, to be honest, you should probably spend your money on something else, such as a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or maybe pool your money together with your friends and buy a real goat.

That’s definitely one interesting combo, no? In other PlayStation news, go check out the official sales stats for the console and PS Plus as revealed by Sony yesterday. The official PS5 logo has also been revealed, though don’t expect anything radically new.

Platinum Games New Announcement Teased for Early 2020

Fans of Japanese studio Platinum Games‘ titles, the studio will have a few things to share this 2020! This was revealed by Platinum Games president Kenichi Sato, who mentions that these are “big” Platinum Games new announcements!

Speaking to Inside Games (translated by SiliconEra), here’s what Sato had to say about the reveals happening later within the year.

Last year, we said that 2019 would be a year where the curtain rises for a new stage for PlatinumGames. We’re a bit late on that, but I believe we’ll have several big announcements to deliver early in the new year, so please look forward to that. That’s a promise I’ll definitely keep [laughs]. – Kenichi Sato, Platinum Games President

Chiming in, Atsushi Inaba added that the studio has “big and small” announcements planned for “early” in the year!

Starting early on in the year, I believe we’ll continue to roll out various announcements, big and small, throughout the year.

The company, as well as me personally, will continue taking on new challenges, and I want to give it everything we’ve got.” –Atsushi Inaba, Representative Studio Head

One of the games players can look forward to is Babylon’s Fall, which is headed to the PS5. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about the studio’s new projects before E3 rolls in.

Official PS5 Logo Revealed, Sony Lists Some of the PS5’s Features

Aside from announcing the PS4 unit sales, and other interesting PlayStation sales data, Sony has also shared something new regarding the PS5 at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and that’s the official PS5 logo!

Don’t be surprised though, as the PS5 official logo kinda looks similar to what we’ve seen before.

ps5 logo

For those familiar with the PlayStation brand, it’s just the PS4 logo but the 4 changed with a 5. It’s a case of brand recognition, and Sony not fixing what ain’t broken, I guess.

In addition to that, Sony has also shared some of the noteworthy PS5 features that gamers should expect from the console out of the gate!

In case the image didn’t load for you, it lists the following as some of the new features the PS5 has out of the box:

  • 3D Audio Sound
  • Haptics/Adaptive Triggers
  • Ultra-High Speed SSD
  • Hardware-Based Ray Tracing
  • Ultra HD Blu-ray

These features shared is info that has been announced before, but for those not familiar with ’em, at least now you know.

Set to launch this Holiday 2020, check out the leaked specs for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X right here.

PS4 Sales at 106 Million, Sony Announces PSVR Sales & More

At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, Sony really didn’t have anything new regarding the PS5, but the company did have a load of PlayStation sales stats to share. Chief among this were the PS4 sales now sitting at 106 million units sold!

In addition to that, Sony has also shared that PlayStation VR (or more commonly known as PSVR), has now sold over five million units worldwide, while PlayStation Plus has 38 million active subscribers! In total, there are 103 million active users for the PS4, which makes it the undisputed winner of this console generation.

Given how CES usually focuses on tech and not gaming as a whole, we don’t expect anything gaming-related to make its way out, but if we get wind of any news, we’ll be sure to let people know.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, here are the PlayStation Plus games hitting this month (tomorrow)!

Will the PS4 be the most successful console of all-time? It certainly looks like it’s well on track.

Report: Modern Warfare and Destiny 2 Servers Being Blocked in Iran

Amid tension between the United States and Iran, it seems politics have spilled over to gaming once again, as reports are coming in that the Modern Warfare Iran servers are being blocked, though we’re not sure whether this is Activision’s doing or something else.

This was brought to light by Modern Warfare gamer hamoun76, who posted a message stating that Activision has blocked access to online services in Modern Warfare, and for those wondering, nope, it seems refunds aren’t being warranted too.

Well, once again the world of politics has spilled over into gaming. Starting today, activision has started blocking access to online services in Modern warfare to Iranian users (which for PC players means effectively locking them out of the game). Also, you are not able to get a refund from them. The only way to circumvent this is to route through a VPN which messes up your ping and online experience. Currently, only people using mobile data are granted access (Cable ADSL can’t connect) and I assume they will also lose availability soon. I doubt IW or Activision will respond to this, but I really want to know the justification for this. There has been no new laws passed in these last few days, so what gives? Why now suddenly? No other games or franchises have done this, and the fact that we are given no refunds makes it feel like we are being scammed.

And yes, hamoun76 is from Iran, so he definitely can tell from first-hand experience. In addition to that, Iranian website Zoomi has also confirmed this, and has also shared that even Destiny 2 Iran servers are now blocked as well. Both titles can be played by using a VPN (virtual private network), though it will mess up your ping, or via mobile data (for now).

We’ve reached out to Activision for a statement regarding this, and will update the post if we get a response. For those playing Modern Warfare or Destiny 2 in Iran, let us if it’s working for you, or if there’s another workaround for it down in the comments.

Halo Dev Takes a Crack at Designing Modern Warfare Map – Check It Out in Action

Have you ever wondered what it’d be like if a developer from one of your favorite shooters designed a map for another multplayer game? For those Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Halo fans out there, this is a slight glimpse to that reality.

343 Industries Campaign Level Designer Kolbe Payne created a Modern Warfare map of his own and showed it off too! This isn’t a full on 6v6 or 10v10 map, but rather, one for the Gunfight 2v2 mode introduced by Infinity Ward in Modern Warfare. Check out images of it along with actual “gameplay” below.

Curious how it looks in gameplay? Luckily, we have that too! Thought it is obviously in just a prototype phase, and of course, not actually as a Modern Warfare game.

Who knows though? Maybe Infinity Ward will see this and contact Payne to have this available in the game in the future. That said, I doubt the legal issues involved with this would allow that, but one can hope.

In other Modern Warfare news, Infinity Ward has acknowledged that there are communication issues between the studio and their player base. We’ve also gotten confirmation that we’ll be getting more custom loadout slots in the future too.

If we get wind of anything video game-related, we’ll let our readers know.

Next Call of Duty Game Developed by Treyarch Won’t Feature Jetpacks, Vonderhaar Reflects on Backlash

With jetpacks and wall-running quickly wearing out its welcome among the Call of Duty fanbase, some might be wondering whether the next Call of Duty game will feature jetpacks. Well, if rumors are true, and it’s Treyarch’s turn this year once again, that won’t be an issue anymore.

Over on Twitter, Treyarch Game Design Director David Vonderhaar simply answered “No” when a fan said that there should be jetpacks in the next COD:

Going on another tweet, another gamer said that “jetpacks will revive COD!” to which Vonderhaar kinda reflected on the community’s reaction to Black Ops 3’s — and in some cases, Black Ops 4 — not being a traditional boots on ground Call of Duty multiplayer experience.

With Modern Warfare’s success proving that gamers really do want a boots on the ground Call of Duty experience, I expect Treyarch’s next game to be grounded in reality a lot more than Black Ops 4. Also of note, it seems Vonderhaar has inadvertently confirmed that COD 2020 will indeed be made by Treyarch given the first tweet above stating “next COD.”

What do you expect from this year’s Call of Duty game? And are you OK if Treyarch is once again at the helm with just a year’s break?

Nintendo Is Not Turning Their Backs on New Tech, Believes Consoles Won’t Go Away

President of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, opens up on the companies stance of cloud gaming and how their team looks at new technology.

Taking to an Interview with Nikkei (paywall subscription), Furukawa stated that the company is constantly exploring new and interesting ways to incorporate technology in their hardware and software, noting that they have taken an interested in AR (augmented reality).

NintendoEverything has provided some translated excerpts from the interview that you can read up below.

Something I do not want the public to misunderstand is that we are not turning our backs on new technologies – we are constantly researching and developing. Our hardware development teams evaluate all kinds of new technologies available thus far and consult with our software developers. If they determine that a technology can be used with a game, then they will utilize it. We will not be changing this fundamental approach moving forward.

As for AR, it is definitely one of the many aspects we are interested in. We are currently researching what interesting ways we can utilize it.

Furukawa then spoke about cloud gaming, saying it would be pointless to solely focus on one place to play titles, although with how young cloud gaming is, he doesn’t see it being a big public interest until much later down the line and therefor console hardware won’t be going anywhere.

It’s possible that cloud gaming could capture the public’s interest in 10 years from now, however at this point in time, I do not think that dedicated hardware will go away. It’s a long way off before we’ll really know the outcome. With that said, it would be pointless to solely focus on methods of play that can only be had on dedicated hardware. Once your audience starts saying they can play on other consoles or smartphones instead, you’re finished.

Does this mean Nintendo will have another console after the Switch? Yeah, that’s a pretty safe bet, no? Nonetheless, with the next-gen of gaming coming this year with the PS5 and Xbox Series X, we can expect something from the Big N regarding a Nintendo next gen console soon.

Speaking of Nintendo consoles, have you seen the Nintendo Switch clone? Check out the Nanica Smitch here.

Resident Evil 3 Remake File Size Revealed

Hyped for Resident Evil 3 Remake after seeing bits of it just a month ago? For those wondering what hte Resident Evil 3 Remake file size is, wonder no more! It’ll clock in at 21.93GB on the Xbox One, though it’ll most likely be the same size on PS4 too.

This was outed by the official Xbox Marketplace which lists the game as 43.01GB to be exact. Why the bigger size? Well, it counts 43GB in total as Resident Evil 3 Remake comes with the Resident Evil Resistance multiplayer mode for free. For those keeping counts, Resident Evil 3 Remake is at 21.93GB, while RE Resistance is at 20.47, and when you combine the two, you get 43GB.

Resident Evil 3 Remake + Resident Evil Resistance file size total:

RE 3 Remake file size:

20GB isn’t that bad for a full-fledged game. Mind, there’s going to be a day one patch for this most likely, so make sure to leave some extra space other than the 43GB. As for when players can expect pre-load, the PlayStation 4 version is set to begin, midnight on March 31st.

The Remake is set to launch this April 3, 2020, check out the Collector’s edition of Resident Evil 3 Remake here.

Modern Warfare Communication Issues Acknowledged by Infinity Ward, Nuke Calling Card Incoming

If you’ve been keeping tabs on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, chances are you’ve seen people gripe about skill based matchmaking or some other issue the game currently has. Unfortunately though, Infinity Ward hasn’t really been active in replying to their community, but for the first time since launch, someone at the studio acknowledged the Modern Warfare communication issues.

Over on the Modern Warfare subreddit, studio Lead Art Director Joel Emslie responded to a message asking why he’s responding more than the studio’s Community Manager.

Per Emslie:

Almost all of the responses I’ve been discussing in this sub are in my area of expertise so I can be very open. As long as we are on the topic. I would like to ask everyone in the community to give my co-workers a lot more respect in the area of comms. Everyone is working as hard as they can and doing a phenomenal job. I do think and none of us would argue, that we need to find better ways to get the community information about the game. We are working on it and with anything this big theres always room for improvement.

I can see how things are misunderstood in this area. Trust me. I work right along side them and they have been working their asses off on this project along with countless other people. There is so much that happens behind the scenes that isn’t forward facing to the community. Yes we need to find ways to improve our back and forth. Thats all of our responsibility not just a few that have been active out of the studio.

This is the first time someone over at the studio has acknowledged that there are even any Modern Warfare communication issues, and it’s honestly a welcome sight. Let’s hope that this is the start of something bigger moving forward.

In related news, for those who are good enough (or just lucky enough) to earn a 30-kill streak just using weapons and thus earn a Nuke in the game, Infinity Ward does have plans to include a Nuke calling card, which is something fans have expected from the franchise in every iteration.

When asked about this by a communitymemner, Emslie mentioned that they are working on it, but estimated time for release just yet.

This is also good news for the community. Also other good news? Infinity Ward has confirmed that more custom loadout slots are coming very soon.
