Mortal Kombat 11 Matinee Skin Pack Announced, Reveals She-Spawn

At today’s Final Kombat 2020 tournament, NetherRealm Studios announced the Mortal Kombat 11 Matinee skin pack! Included in this new Mortal Kombat 11 skin pack are four skins which include a skin for Night Wolf, Erron Black, and two for Jacqui Briggs!

Priced at $5.99 for those who don’t own the Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack, the Mortal Kombat 11 Matinee skin pack will be out the same day Spawn is available, which is March 17 for early access and March 24 for non-pass (Kombat Pack) holders. Speaking of Spawn, one of Jacqui Briggs’ skins is called “Hellpsawn Jacqui” which gives us She-Spawn! Check it out below via the screengrab we got.

Oh, and if you are curious why the pack is called “The Matinee Skin pack”, it’s due to the fact that these are all actually themed around movies (outside of She-Spawn). Kotal Khan is designed as Conan the Barbarian, Erron Black based on Indiana Jones, and the other Jacqui Briggs’ skin is Ripley from the Alien Series. This wouldn’t be the first time they did a movie-themed skin pack as back when Arnold’s Schwarzannager’s Terminator character DLC released, they did a double feature skin pack which had Sarah Connor and a few other movie-themed skins.

We still have a long day ahead of us with the Final Kombat Tournament currently running, so hopefully, we have a few more surprises revealed. Be on the lookout for Spawn’s gameplay reveal, which is set to happen later today. We’ll be sure to post that on the site once it goes live.

How do you guys feel about the new skins? The Spawn one certainly is a neat one but does seem like a “wasted” opportunity to give to another character such as Skarlet.

Check out Spawn’s character bio here, and read up on how the first Mortal Kombat studio (Midway) almost didn’t push through with the franchise.

Rumor: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Release Set for This Year

Not a fan of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Are you pining for something more old school? If so, your wish might be granted before the year is done. A new rumor has surfaced stating that the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered release is set for 2020!

This was announced over on Twitter by a certain user name Okami, who also added that it will include multiplayer once it’s out this year.

https://twitter.com/Okami13_/status/1233602563154620416?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1233602563154620416&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dexerto.com%2Fcall-of-duty%2Fnew-rumors-suggest-modern-warfare-2-remastered-could-be-released-soon-1338113

So what makes this person more credible than the thousands of supposed insiders? Well, he/she also correctly leaked the Modern Warfare Gunfight beta release date on PS4 last year (via Dexterto)!

https://twitter.com/Okami13_/status/1156777174579470336?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1156777174579470336&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dexerto.com%2Fcall-of-duty%2Fnew-rumors-suggest-modern-warfare-2-remastered-could-be-released-soon-1338113

In addition to the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered release window, the leaker also claimed that Call of Duty: Warzone — Modern Warfare’s battle royale mode — will be out this March 10 (this coming Tuesday), which was also the date another rumor pegged as the release date. It mentions how Warzone will be free-to-play (F2P), and will be Squads only, and will be its own separate client. Okami adds that once people see that his other leaks are true regarding Warzone, they’ll know his leak regarding Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is legit, too.

https://twitter.com/Okami13_/status/1235373045025513472?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1235373045025513472&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dexerto.com%2Fcall-of-duty%2Fnew-rumors-suggest-modern-warfare-2-remastered-could-be-released-soon-1338113

Given how none of this is from Activision nor Infinity Ward, or from a reputable source (just yet), make sure to take everything with a grain of salt. That said, those not looking forward to this year’s alleged Treyarch-developed Call of Duty game, you’ll have a choice to play something else later this year it seems.

We’re going to keep a close eye on this, and hopefully, this rumor is true.

Would you want Modern Warfare 2 Remastered to be released this year? What changes do you want made to it?

Doesn’t look like there will be much of a grind to earn the trophies outside of the game itself being difficult. Nioh 2 will be releasing exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on March 13. Pre-loads will be going live this Wednesday, with the Nioh 2 download size being 36GB.

Final Kombat Tournament Live Audience has Been Cancelled, Will Proceed With Streaming

With just two days to go until the Final Kombat Tournament, NetherRealm Studio has revealed that the event will no longer be accepting attendees due to the Coronavirus.

In the lengthy Twitter post, the team highlights the reasoning being protecting the health of staff and attendees from any possible exposure to the virus. The Last Chance Qualifier that is taking place tomorrow has been canceled entirely. The news isn’t at all surprising considering that many gaming events have already been affected, including this month’s GDC which has now been delayed to Summer.

NetherRealm did ensure that the Final Kombat Tournament would still be happening this Sunday, it will just be a whole lot quieter with the absence of the audience.  The team confirmed that everything is on schedule and the stream will proceed as normal. That meaning anyone hoping to get the first look at Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn gameplay will still be able to see it during the event, along with a new trailer for the new Mortal Kombat animated movie.

As for those who had purchased tickets for either the general admission or Last Chance Qualifier, you can get a full refund by contacting mk@intersportnet.com.

Full statement from NetherRealms Studio can be read below

In other NetherRealm Studios news, the original studio behind Mortal Kombat (then called Midway) wanted to make a Star Wars game before the Mortal Kombat series below up.

Nioh 2 Download Size is 36GB, Will Have Day One Patches

The Nioh 2 download size has officially been revealed.

We are just less than six days away from the official launch of the PlayStation 4 exclusive Nioh 2, and while pre-loads won’t go live until this Wednesday, it appears the PSN store has been updated to display the file size of the game.

In comparison, the first Nioh game was slightly larger being 40GB at launch. Of course, this could very well increase by the time we reach day one as we are likely to get a launch day patch. In fact, the title has already received a few patches according to PSN releases.

We don’t have the exact details as to what has been fixed or added with the recent patches, though we expect them to be related to general bug fixes, stabilization, and most likely launch day DLC support.

Nioh 2 is launching exclusively for the PlayStation 4 March 13. Players who recently participated and beat the Last Chance Demo will also be rewarded The Mark of the Demon Slayer DLC on launch via the in-game shop.  The Mark of the Demon Slayer consists of a unique Kamaitachi Helmet armor piece that players will be able to equip at the start of the game.

In the weeks to come, be on the lookout for our Nioh 2 review along with some gameplay, walkthroughs, and some helpful guides.

Paladins Update 2.14 Sneaks Out, Sands of Myth Overview Released

Just a few days ago, the big Paladins update was released, which introduced the Sands of Myth content. Well, it seems Hi-Rez Studios isn’t done yet, as a new Paladins update just got released now. Console gamers will see this as Paladins update 2.14, and as one might expect, is for fixes than anything else.

No official patch notes have been released, but from what we know and Hi-Rez Studios has dished out, it’s for Ranked Play.

While our team continues to work on improving issues related to our backend server technology update, we will be disabling Ranked play across all platforms. This is being done to prevent any connection issues getting in the way of playing Ranked as we work on these fixes.

Spread the word about this, as no doubt some players are wondering why they aren’t getting anything from playing Ranked.

In other news, if you want a quick info drop on what Sands of Myth has broght to the table, and cant be fussed to read the (super long) patch notes, Hi-Rez Studios has released a video overview!

This is just over a minute long, so it should be good for those press for time.

If Hi-Rez gives an update on what other stuff is in this Paladins update 2.14, we’ll update the post and let people know.

Next-Gen Consoles on Track for Holiday 2020 According to AMD, PS5 RDNA 2 Hinted At

AMD recently held its Financial Analyst Day presentation, stating that both next-gen console launches are on track for this Holiday all while hinting at PS5 RDNA 2 support.

There isn’t much known about the PlayStation 5 besides a few tidbits of information that Sony dropped last year. And while we have yet to learn as to when the company plans on revealing the console, AMD seemed to have shed some details concerning it during their presentation.

The PlayStation 5 isn’t directly referenced in the slide, but with it being worded as a plural for “consoles,” it’s clear that this includes the PlayStation 5. The Xbox Series X has already been confirmed to be using it, and with this news, now the PlayStation 5. RDNA 2 is set to bring a number of features, including Ray-tracing, 3D Audio, better load times and a 50% performance boost over the original first generation of RDNA.

AMD’s David Wang had this to say about RDNA 2:

We have developed an all-new hardware-accelerated ray tracing architecture as part of RDNA 2. It is a common architecture used in the next-generation game consoles. With that, you will greatly simplify the content development — developers can develop on one platform and easily port it to the other platform. This will definitely help speed up the adoption [of ray tracing].

RDNA 2 is currently the latest offering from AMD and is set to release with their line chips later this year. It will quite literally be the current cutting edge technology for next-gen consoles when it releases. RDNA 3 is currently targeted for 2022 along with the Zen 4 CPU.

What do you guys think? Is PS5 RDNA 2 support something to be excited about? Is this the kind of next-gen power that players are hoping for? Leave your thoughts in the comments down below.

Zombie Army 4 Review – The Dead Marches On

Senseless zombie-killing told in a B-movie format? Is this enough to sustain players fora  full game? Read on for our Zombie Army 4 review to find out. For those that have played any of the previous titles or the Sniper Elite series, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting yourself into with the latest in the series.

Slo-Mo Braaaaaains!

Zombie Army 4: Dead War stays true the gameplay of past iterations while expanding on it with a far deeper customization and weapon upgrade system. While the core gunplay remains the same, offering the series’ staple x-ray slo-mo kill shots, the ways to fend off hoards of zombies have evolved, giving players more ways of killing them. You can use special weapon mods that you unlock as you play such as electricity or explosives, and you can use environmental traps meant to lure zombies in. There are even zombie sharks that you can use to your advantage as they disembody the undead.

All this can be enjoyed in the four-player co-op the game has to offer. Whether you play with your friends or a group of random, one thing is certain with Zombie Army 4, that having more is fun. Yes, you can play this game by yourself, which does provide a bit of a challenge, but with the additional players, you can compete with one another for a higher score and find equipment far easier. The game is balanced for the added players if you so choose it to be, which is great because the difference in hoard sizes is very noticeable. As for replayability, the developers have set up a challenge system that rotates on a weekly basis, giving players a variety of modifiers. At the end of the day, the online aspect vastly improves the overall experience with how easy it is to join matches. This, however, does go without saying that there are some issues revolving around the gameplay itself.

The character movements I found to be extremely stiff and at times frustrating as they struggled to move around objects. This is especially noticeable when you begin to get surrounded by zombies, making it extremely annoying to navigate around them. We found that we were getting stuck on invisible objects that would get us killed by the onslaught of zombies. Depending on the objective, certain segments felt tedious and it didn’t help as we ran into constant bugs forcing us to restart entire checkpoints. The melee and ground stomps felt as if they didn’t work as enemies would simply not be fazed by them or damage modifiers to them just didn’t do much. A few of the perks and upgrade items felt counterintuitive in that they didn’t offer as much advantage as one hope. For example, a gun mod called “Vampire vision” restore health with critical hits when scoped. It would be a great mod, seeing that it’s one of the last tiers you unlock, but it makes the scope have a red filter over it, making it really hard to see things in the environment. Otherwise, in terms of performance, the game ran at a solid steady frame-rate even when there were massive hoards of zombies filling the screen.

B-Movie Campiness That Works

As for the story itself, it plays like a classic ’80s B-horror zombie flick. It’s corny and the jokes aren’t too funny, but it’s ridiculous enough where it keeps the entertainment going. The overall levels were nice as we found ourselves in rundown cities, clostrophic sewers, zoos and plenty of other interesting places. There was a sense of horror added on top of the zombie aspect as if the world had more hauntings in it. You could rush through this game without realizing all the small details and Easter eggs placed around the maps. Though it’s understandable why some would avoid them as levels are littered with creepy Annabelle-like dolls that most definitely  seem to be “alive.” I can tell a lot of love went into some of these Easter eggs, more so than most games and I strongly suggest you look around for some as they will surprise you.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War may not be pushing the series to new heights, and that’s okay as it offers exactly what players come to expect. Its story is engaging enough with its campiness, environmental settings will keep you hooked, and the online co-op makes more fun of the dumb fun nonsense that the solo play already supplies. I highly suggest Zombie Army 4: Dead War to anyone looking for a good co-op game. That and anyone wanting more zombie slayings in their life.

Score: 8/10

Pros

  • Easy drop-in multiplayer co-op
  • Variety of enemies and environments
  • Stable performance
  • A fun campy story filled with plenty of hidden secrets and Easter Eggs
  • Replayability and weekly challenges

Cons

  • Sluggish controls
  • Some upgrades not well planned out
  • Progression breaking glitches that require a level restart

  • 50 GB hard drive space

Note: HDR is available on PC, hardware permitting

Updated Retail Specs

There have also been some adjustments made to the minimum and recommended specs that are listed on the packaging of DOOM Eternal physical PC copies. Those changes are listed below:

Updated Minimum Spec (from what is printed on the PC box)

  • Removed Windows 8.1 as a supported operating system because it is no longer supported by AMD as of their most recent driver release.
  • Win 8.1 users with AMD GPUs will need to use driver version 19.1.1 to run the game successfully.
  • We’ve increased the resolution from 720p/60 FPS at Low Quality settings to 1080p/60 FPS at Low quality settings and have added in support for some 3GB and additional 4GB GPUs.
  • Added current gen NVIDIA GPUs that also meet the min spec performance requirements.

Updated Recommended Spec (from what is printed on the PC box)

  • We’ve increased the resolution from 1080p/60 FPS at High Quality settings to 1440p at High quality settings and have added in support for some additional GPUs at 1080p/60 FPS.
  • We’ve also reduced the system RAM requirements from 16GB to 8GB.
  • In order to hit higher performance targets, we removed the Ryzen 5 CPU and added specific i7 and Ryzen 7 CPU model numbers.
  • Recommended Specs listed on the PC box will still work as advertised
  • Added current gen NVIDIA GPUs that also meet the recommended spec performance requirements.

Added Ultra-Nightmare Spec

  • We added a “maxed out” spec for PC users

Definitely a big jump from the last game. Of course, if you already have a PC that is far beyond those specs then you won’t have much to worry about, and in fact may benefit from the many options that the game will set to offer, including some extremely high frame-rates.

Related Doom Eternal Reading:

Doom Eternal is launching March 20 and will be available for The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. A Nintendo Switch version is currently in the works and will release at a later date. No news has been revealed as to how the team will handle the next-gen version, though they aim for the current one to look it’s best on those consoles when they launch.

(Update 3/10/20): We’ve updated the DOOM Eternal PC specs via Bethesda’s listings.

Battlefield 5 End of Round Report Bug Acknowledged by DICE

Following yesterday’s big Battlefield 5 6,2 patch, some players might have experienced or seen the Battlefield 5 end of round report bug happening regardless of game mode. Well, thankfully, DICE has acknowledged this issue.

First off, the big concern here is, are stats being tracked? Yes it is! A fix is being planned by DICE to be released by early next week. In the meantime, go check out this Battlefield 5 end of round report bug FAQ by DICE.

What’s Happening? You’re not receiving an end of round report at the end of all matches that you play. It’s not you, it’s us.
‏‏‎ ‎
How does this affect me? If you’re above level 50, have most the guns unlocked from Class Progression and Vehicle Progression, If have ranked them all up to rank 4, then the impact to your experience playing this weekend is pretty minor. If you’re new to Battlefield and on the grind, you’re going to run into instances where you’re not getting the correct access to unlocks despite the game saying you have unlocked them mid round.
‏‏‎ ‎
Is my progress being tracked? Yes. 100%. Right now you’re not seeing this take effect in the game, but you are absolutely still progressing. Until we can fix the issue, you won’t see it reflected in game, but once it’s fixed, we can give you all your progress back in one big chunk.
‏‏‎ ‎

When can you fix this? Presently we expect this gets fixed on Tuesday, early next week, and it will be a backend update. You won’t need to do anything, this is just a case of waiting for us to get things back in order. Once it’s fixed, the next rank up you do in game will trigger the restoration. If you’re max rank in something, a simple round completion will trigger the restoration

If you want to read up on the explanation and why this is happening, head on over here.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Update 2.0 Release Date, Content Details Revealed

If you’re still waiting on Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s major patch to fix most of the game’s issues, your wait won’t be that long now. Ubisoft announced that the Ghost Recon Breakpoint update 2.0 release date is due this month on March 24!

In addition to the Ghost Recon Breakpoint update 2.0 release date, the publisher outlined the major content rolling out with the patch. Title update 2.0 introduces the Ghost Experience, which is a new mode that lets players experience Breakpoint in three different ways.

  • Regular Experience – the way Ghost Recon Breakpoint was released featuring gear level and tiered loot.
  • Immersive Experience – Removes gear level and introduces a more realistic loot system and a host of new tactical settings designed to heighten immersion such as stamina management, ammo loss on reload, health regen, risk of injury and more.
  • Custom Experience – Gives players an extensive array of options so they can find the balance between Regular and Immersive that works for them.

Also revealed is the Engineer class details.

The new Engineer Class is coming alongside the new update. Engineers can deal more damage to drones, carry extra offensive items, and are more effective with grenade launchers. Their special ability, the Defensive Drone, will attack nearby enemies, while their class tool, the Ammo Supply Drone, provides allies with an extra magazine. Year 1 Pass owners will have one-week early access to the Engineer Class starting March 24.

Title update 2.0 will also see a few community-requested features make the cut! Here’s a preview of what’s coming:

  • Camera Placement
  • BASE jumping
  • Weapon/Gear Sorting Options
  • Vehicles
  • Respawn System Improvements
  • Gunsmith Updates

Those looking for an offline mode, that sadly won’t be part of the patch, though the studio has come up with an alternative.

Our team identified that the service that was most difficult for players with inconsistent connections was the one that enabled matchmaking. With this new update, players who cannot maintain a sustained connection to matchmaking services will still be able to play solo PvE without being disconnected.

These players will still have all of the functionality of the game except access to multiplayer modes. While in this mode, your Friends List will appear empty.

The game will regularly re-test this connection in the background without impacting your play. You will be able to manually trigger a re-test of the connection by initiating matchmaking in multiplayer modes.

Episode 2 Deep State will arrive on March 24 for all Year 1 Pass owners as well.

4 Tips for Gambling Responsibly in GTA Online’s Casino

Last year Rockstar Games released the biggest update for GTA Online to date, The Diamond Casino and Resort. Not only did the update add loads of new missions and replayable content to the game, it opened the first in-game casino for players to explore and send all of their hard-earned cash in. While the casino can be used to gamble away all of your in-game dollars from the various crimes you’ve been committing in Los Santos, it also allows you to spend real money. Usually this is best left to casinos in the real world. Even though there’s a cap on the amount that can be spend per in-game day, it’s important to gamble responsibly before you slip into a dangerous habit. With that in mind, we’ve put together this list of four tips to help you make sure you’re gambling responsibly in GTA Online.

You’re Still Paying Out When You Win

gta-online-casino-gaming-tips

What a lot of people don’t realise, in both real casinos and the Diamond Casino in GTA Online, is that you pay out even if you win. When you bet $1 the house, the casino in the real world, and Rockstar Games in the case of GTA Online, expects to earn a few cents regardless of the outcome. If you lose, the house gets to keep all of the money you bet, obviously. This is a loss you accept when you put that money down as a bet. However, winning doesn’t entitle you to the full amount you’re awarded. The house takes a percentage of your winnings. Yes, it may be small, but it’s how these businesses operate. This is how casinos can afford such extravagant exteriors, how they pay for the 24/7 power bill generated by the lights, and how they stay afloat.

It’s important to realise this whenever you go into a casino, in-game or in real life. GTA Online’s casino may be a safer bet, because you can spend fake in-0game money, but the rule still applies.

Each Hit is Unique

gta-online-casino-each-hit-is-unique

Regardless of the game, whether it’s blackjack or a slot machine, every hit is individual from the one that came before. Some people see gambling as a grind, something that needs to be worked through before you get the payout. There’s a feeling that you’re progressing towards a big reward, but often that never comes. In GTA Online that’s because every game, every hit, is unique. The casino games use RNG (random number generators) to make every game as a fresh as the game that came before. You won’t have better odds in the next game if you lost the last one, you have exactly the same odds for both. If you’re on a losing streak, don’t lose heart, but also remember that you’re not improving your odds moving forward. Sometimes it’s better to stop and play a few missions to cool off before you return to the casino again.

You Can’t Game a Game

gta-online-casino-cant-game-a-game

This tip relates to the one above. Anyone trying to bring a gambling system into the casino in GTA Online is going to fail. The game has its own set of rules, and they’re way more complex that you can figure out. If you go into the GTA Online casino with a plan to outsmart the dealers and odds of the games, you’ll lose every time.

Set Your Limits

gta-online-casino-set-limits

It’s easy to overspend in casinos if you don’t set a limit. They’re designed to disorient you and make you think that you’ve only been there for half an hour, despite the fact that it’s 3am and you’ve missed your flight home. GTA Online’s casino is no different, though you can tell the difference between night and day thanks to your penthouse. All the in-game money you’ve earned can be burned through pretty quickly if you don’t set a limit, and then you may even be onto real world money if you’re buying currency. Set a limit, and just leave the casino when you’ve hit it. You can always come back when you’ve earned enough in-game money through missions again.

Those are our four tips for responsible gambling in GTA Online’s casino. Keep this page bookmarked if you’re heading to the casino anytime soon. There’s nothing worse than losing a lot of in-game currency through a system that’s designed to take a lot of your money. Of course there are guaranteed wins in the casino, and those are well worth taking part in, just be aware that the other games don’t have the same beneficial odds.

Battlefield V Community Games Now Allows Tides of War Progression

Are you someone who plays in private servers (called “Community Games” by DICE) in Battlefield V? If so, chances are you’ve noticed how DICE doesn’t let players who play Battlefield V Community Games to earn Tides of War progression — at least until today.

In today’s big 6.2 patch, DICE not only rolled out a host of weapon and damage changes, but it now has allowed players to earn Tides of War progress in Community Games! This means that even if you’re playing in private servers, you can earn Chapter progress and in turn, rewards!

This is definitely good news for those who prefer to play specific game modes and maps, and not content with DICE’s official servers.

Let’s hope DICE continues listening to the community when it comes to Battlefield V changes and improvements.

The Last of Us Series Being Developed by HBO

Following the success of video game adaptations like The Witcher (Netflix), it seems HBO is following suit, and they’ve snagged possibly one of the biggest franchises of all, and that’s Sony’s The Last of Us! Yes, a The Last of Us series is in the works, people!

The news was broken by The Hollywood Reporter which mentions that it is being developed by Craig Mazin, who’s the creator of the hit show Chernobyl, and by Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann. Per the report, Druckmann, who is the writer and creative director of the franchise, will work with Manzin to write and co-produce the series.

Alongside the duo, Carolyn Strauss will also be an executive producer along with Evan Wells, who’s the head dog (president) of Naughty Dog. This is a joint production between HBO, Sony Pictures Television, and PlayStation Productions.

Here’s what Manzin had to say about Druckmann and The Last of Us franchise:

“Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus. Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so honored to do it in partnership with Neil.”

Druckmann also had good things to say about Manzin (naturally):

From the first time I sat down to talk with Craig I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us. With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn’t think of better partners to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show.”

No timetable has been set for its release. but I’m hoping it’s soon. It won’t be that soon though as The Last of Us: Part II is still gestating at Naughty Dog for release later this year.

If there’s a video game franchise that fits well to be a series, it’s The Last of Us. Let’s just hope this doesn’t turn out like The Walking Dead in terms of pacing and whatnot. Are you excited for this The Last of Us series or do you see it failing like so many other video game adaptations before it?
