Modern Warfare Down With Error Code 67616

For those on PS4 (can’t say for other platforms), you might be seeing Modern Warfare down right now. Connecting to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PS4 yields an error code of 67616. While no official update has been released by Infinity Ward or Activision just yet, don’t panic, as this is most likely connected to the Season 1 rollout happening today.

UPDATE: Servers are now back and fully functional on the PlayStation 4.

For those curious what you can get for Modern Warfare Season 1, watch the trailer, or check out the official info. There’s going to be a new patch for the Season 1 rollout, and once we know more details, we’ll post them ASAP. In the meantime, make sure to bookmark our COD: MW game hub for the latest Modern Warfare news.

We’ll update the post once servers are back online. For those on other platforms, let us know if it’s down for you as well.

Bohemia Interactive has also made an announcement regarding server owners on PC.

There are no pre-requirements to host your own Livonia server, any server can run this terrain as well as Chernarus; Joining a Livonia server requires to own the Livonia DLC.

To complete the blacklist feature, server owners now can run their servers with a whitelist; when a player is added to the whitelist, he gains the ability to join the server, whereas he loses it and gets kicked when removed from the list.

Rainbow Six Siege Update 1.76 (Y4S4) Now Out for Operation Shifting Tides, Here Are the Patch Notes

After being tested for quite some in the PTS (private test servers), Ubisoft has finally released Rainbow Six Siege update 1.75 (otherwise known as Year 4 Season 4) which brings the Operation Shifting Tides content! We get two new Operators, a reworked map and more! Clocking in at 5.4GB on PS4, check out the full Rainbow Six Siege update 1.76 patch notes below.

Rainbow Six Siege update 1.76 patch notes (Y4S4) Operation Shifting Tides:

Map rework: Theme Park

Did you miss Theme Park? With Operation Shifting Tides, it’s back and reworked! It might not look like it at first glance, but there are some massive changes coming.

There are some major indoors changes to unpack, but let’s start with two things that will affect your outdoor gameplay. First, lines of sight have been constricted to prevent most spawn peeks. Second, Rail Overlook and Lift Car, as well as their ramps, have been removed. The reasoning behind this is quite simple: we’re getting rid of train.

That’s right, the entire Rail Platform area is gone. Instead, the East and West sections of the building have been brought closer together, with Yellow Corridor (previously named Cafe Corridor) and Bunk connected to Office and Initiation Room through breakable walls.

Inside the building, there are a few things to notice, which mostly involve the East section. The downstairs area has been remodeled with a thematic that represents the map’s origin, with the Gargoyle and Haunting Dining bomb sites replaced with the Throne Room and Armory pair. The new Gong Room in this area also becomes the main entrance, with Arcade Entrance being blocked off South-West. Dragon Stairs, previously named Haunted Stairs, now faces East instead of North.

Check out all these changes and more on the test server, and feel free to submit your feedback on R6 Fix.

Limb Penetration

Hold onto your hats, limb penetration is a thing! Have you ever flashed someone with a stun grenade and been denied a headshot because of the hand covering their eyes? Then this section is for you.

This season is the perfect moment to rework penetration, with Kali’s sniper rifle being one of the most intimidating weapons in-game. Weapon category has a part to play, but first let’s go into the three different types of penetration.

The first, we’ll call “none”. Simply put, any shot with these weapons does not go through limbs, or torsos, or anything else. The weapons concerned here are most shotguns, and secondary SMGs.

The second, or “simple”, is reserved for one target only. Bullets from these weapons will go through arms and legs to hit more valuable body parts. Face to face with an opponent and shoot through their arms? If you’re lined up with the head, it should be a headshot. The weapons include main SMGs, assault rifles, pistols and LMGs.

The third, dubbed “full”, is the most you could hope for. Shots from these bad boys will go through an Operator and hit other Operators behind them for 30% reduced damage for each additional penetration. Pull out your BOSG.12.2, TSCG12 and sniper rifles, and see if you can take down more than one opponent at once!

One detail to keep in mind with all this: now that most bullets go through arms and hands, the damage received if a shot hits only those areas (without penetration) is reduced to 75%, the same as leg shots. For Operators with 3 Armor, however, damage is reduced to 65%.

Smoke’s Remote Gas

There’s been some inconsistency with the functionality of Smoke’s gadget, and we’re looking to change that. The main thing we wanted to amend was that the gas would go through walls and both damage Operators and obstruct their line of sight, even if there was no logical way for it to get through that wall.

We’ve adapted it now to work much like Capitão and Goyo’s fire, where the smoke will only go through a wall if there are big enough holes to propagate through. The visual has also been altered to no longer fully obstruct sight, instead being a more consistently transparent cloud.

Rappel Exit

From the very beginning, rappelling has been quite consistent. There was a prompt to enter rappel, but exiting it was automatic. From now on, however, that will no longer be the case. A similar prompt will come up when you’re able to exit rappel, and all you have to do is press that key if that’s what you want. With this small modification, players will be able to avoid exiting rappel when they’re just trying to stay as close to its edge as possible, giving you more power over your tactical decisions.

Capitão Elite Set

As our third oldest Operator to date, Capitão has lived through a lot. There was a time when he rocked a full head of dark hair, and he worked directly with the people. His new Elite set emulates that era of his life, when he operated in the favela to save as many lives as he could.

Go back in time with Capitão’s Responsa uniform, victory animation, gadget skin for his TAC Mk0 Crossbow and weapon skins for the Para-308, M249 and PRB92, as well as the Elite Capitão Chibi charm, all of which will be available soon after the launch of Operation Shifting Tides. View Animation.

Operators price decrease

Seven more Operators are seeing price reductions this season. Hibana and Echo’s prices will now be 10,000 Renown or 240 R6 Credits. Dokkaebi, Vigil and Zofia’s will come down to 15,000 Renown or 360 R6 Credits, while Nomad and Kaid’s prices will decrease to 20,000 Renown or 480 R6 Credits.

Operator balancing

We’ll be updating the Test Server with even more balancing changes, so check out the updates there for new changes!

Jackal

  • The number of pings Jackal receives from a scan now depends on the age of the footprint.
  • When eyenox is active, the color and the highlight around the target print will depict the age of the print. Highlighting and scanning a colored print will return a varying number of pings based on its age.
  • The existing footprints of the scanned operator will disappear after completing the scan.
  • Jackal can no longer either see or scan prints from below.
  • Improved interaction with Caveira’s Silent Step.
  • Replaced Jackal’s Breach Charges with a Claymore.
  • Added a highlight VFX to indicate which footstep is being scanned.
  • Added a scanning progress bar

General tweaks & improvements

PLAYER COMFORT

Gadget trajectory asset destruction

We’re in the process of updating breakable props across all our maps to be more structured in how they are destroyed when they are in the pathway of gadget projectiles and missiles. The goal is to make destruction of various elements across maps more coherent for players. This first iteration should allow projectiles to break fragile props that would otherwise block their path (ex: Grenades, C4, etc.).

GAME HEALTH

Gadget Code Optimization

With the new season, we’ve improved the coding logic for a number of primary and secondary gadgets to protect against potential regressions and widen their capacity for future complexity.

These backend changes will not impact your experience using the gadgets.

Casual Renamed to Quick Match

Casual is now called Quick Match. Same game mode, new name.

Quick Match + Newcomer Role Swap

Quick Match (previously Casual) and Newcomer playlists will adopt the AA-DD role swap. Similar to Ranked, players will swap roles once a match.

Playlist Guides

You will now be able to find all the information you need about a game mode in the new Playlist Guides! Newcomer, Quick Match (previously casual) and Unranked game modes will now have Playlist Guides similar to the Ranked guides.

Operator Voiceovers

The Operator voices for Hibana and Mira have been re-recorded with new voice actors. We are thankful to the voice actors that we worked with up to this point, but with the expansion of our Universe content, we needed to make adjustments to our talent line up to ensure consistency.

You can check out the Designer Notes for Y4S4 right here, which gives us an insight on the developers’ thoughts on the changes.

Battlefield 5 Armory Update (Dec. 3, 2019)

DICE has rolled out a Battlefield 5 armory update ahead of patch 5.2, and it’s live now on all platforms. If you don’t find anything you like there, you’ll have to wait, as this one will rotate out in two weeks.

Battlefield 5 armory update – Dec. 3, 2019:

  • Island Hopper Collection – 990 BC
  • Burnt Collection – 990 BC
  • Elites Bundle – 1,750 BC
  • Jack – 990 BC
  • Senshi Collection – 990 BC

I have to admit, this isn’t the best Battlefield 5 store refresh at all. I mean, we are nearing the end of 2019, and I assumed DICE would want to pull out all the stops to get people to spend some Boins (Battlefield Coins nickname), but that doesn’t seem to be the case. We will get a new store refresh before the year is done though, so maybe then?

In other Battlefield 5 news, DICE is planning to release update 5.2 later this week, along with an announcement regarding Community Games (Private Games), though nothing has been confirmed just yet as of today.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Review – Force Echoes

Video games are an iterative medium. Many developers take what was done before and put their own spin on it to make something new. In that regard, Respawn Entertainment has taken inspiration from Dark Souls (and coincidentally, Sekiro), “MetroidVanias” and the Uncharted series, and even a little Shadow of Mordor in the form of the Haxian Brood bounty hunters that show up from time to time, mashed them up, and made Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. For anyone who has played these sources of inspiration, they will easily recognize them in Fallen Order. Though they will also recognize what all of the aforementioned series have all done them better. That’s not to say Fallen Order is bad game. It’s not. It’s actually a genuinely good game with a (at times) great narrative. However, the lack of polish and “jack of all trades, master of none” nature of the game keeps Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from being truly great.

What Fallen Order does best is its story. Set five years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, the story begins on the planet of Bracca where our protagonist, Cal Kestis has been in hiding after Order 66, which caused programming in the Clone Army to turn on and execute the Jedi. Anyone familiar with Star Wars will know that thousands of Jedi were killed leaving only a relative few left, spread out in hiding across the galaxy. Cal was a Padawan (apprentice to a Jedi Master) when Order 66 went down and has since been working on Bracca doing salvage on abandoned Starships. It doesn’t take long before events cause him to use his Force powers, which brings Inquisitors to Bracca. Inquisitors are Dark Side Force sensitives (they can use the Force) who have been tasked with hunting down the remaining Jedi. By using the Force, Call has essentially triggered a signal which puts him on the run. He’s saved by Cere and Greez in their ship, The Mantis, and they set off on the adventure that makes up the story of Fallen Order.

All of the characters are either good (Greez) or great (Cere and a late game addition who is actually the best character in the game but for story reasons I won’t spoil). The Mantis is Greez’s ship and Cere has charted it for the very purpose of saving Cal and going on this journey across the galaxy. Last and certainly not least, is BD-1. Cal’s extremely helpful droid. Cute as anything Lucasfilm has ever created, BD-1 (BD) will throw Cal healing stims (needles) to regain health (and once upgrade, refill the Force meter), as well hack doors, help with zip-lines, and hack enemy droids (which was beyond crucial in the final boss fight). BD is all around awesome and also figures into the larger narrative in a significant way.

I won’t spoil any of the details of the story as it is actually quite good, if marred by some of the game design. For “reasons” that feel liked padding, Fallen Order has you doing a lot of back tracking, not just on the five planets themselves, but going back and forth between planets. It does find a way to justify this within the story, but considering how quickly the Inquisitors showed up after Cal used the Force, it begs the question as to why Cal doesn’t encounter them more and more often.

As this is a video game, having Cal have access to all of his powers from the start wouldn’t make much of a video game so narratively, by cutting himself off from the Force to stay hidden, he has to reconnect to his abilities and hone them over time. As far as justifications go, it’s actually pretty good. To my point above about backtracking, unlocking new Force power and abilities means previous inaccessible areas are now available to explore via your newly acquired Force abilities ( ie: Metroidvanias), and it’s here where the first bits of Dark Souls DNA start to show.

One Step Forward, One Step Forward, Two Steps Back(track)

Each respective planet is its own map and they’re all interconnected and in many cases wrap around on each other much like those in the From Software games such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro. Unlike those games which have fast travel and a great deal of tension relieving shortcuts, Fallen Order has none of the former, and very few of the latter. And the few shortcuts it does have don’t really help all that much considering the actually insane amount of backtracking you need to do in this game (and its much worse if you’re going for the Platinum trophy or the full 1,000 point gamerscore because you will miss areas on your first run through of the area if you’re playing without a guide). Thankfully, each planet is diverse and full of areas to explore and have their own conflicts that Cal will deal with along the way. This makes the narrative feel a little bit disjointed, but it lends itself to the larger universe where the Empire’s rise to power caused ripple effects that have affected many planets differently. While Fallen Order’s story is grand, epic and mostly satisfying, barring some pacing issues caused by the backtracking, it wraps up in an extremely satisfying way without poking any holes in the established logic of the overall story and saga. It also leaves room for a sequel or two. And by the end of it, I definitely want to see more from these characters.

The story is good and all, so how is the gameplay? For the most part, it’s fun. Combat with a lightsaber is always badass and in Fallen Order it’s no exception. As Cal gains more and more powers, by the end you can pull enemies and skewer them with your lightsaber, or pull them to you and push them off of cliffs. In fact, I think I killed as many enemies by pushing them off of ledges as I did cutting them down (there are a LOT of ledges in this game, is what I’m saying). Some tougher enemies I didn’t even bother fighting. Just whoosh, off the ledge you go for easy XP. And by the end, with fully upgraded Force powers, combat options open up drastically and make even the most challenging bosses much more fun to deal with.

As you kill enemies, find secrets, have BD scan things in the environment, you will earn XP. Once you’ve filled your XP bar and get a Skill Point you will need to “meditate” at a save point (think bonfires in Dark Souls or Prayer Idols in Sekiro) where you can spend them to upgrade your force abilities that involve your lightsaber as well as some health and Force meter related upgrades. Resting at a save point will reset all of the enemies in the area, again, like From Softwares’ titles, so you can farm them if you’re close enough to earning a skill point and don’t want to risk losing the XP.

Inspired but Does Not Aspire To…

I mentioned early how Fallen Order coincidentally shares some of its design with Sekiro: Shadows Die twice. It’s a coincidence because Sekiro released eight months ago, and having an idea how long it takes to make a game, finish it and ship it, the two games were being worked on for much of the same time. So it’s wild to see similar systems at play here like how filling your XP bar will give you a skill point that can’t be lost if you die but anything you earn between earned skill points is forfeit (though in Sekiro you lose half and it can’t be retrieved, in Fallen Order the enemy that kills you has to be hit to get it back). Coupled with Fallen Orders heavy emphasis on parrying and how it affects enemies posture bars, the similarities are uncanny. Normally, this wouldn’t be too much of an issue because great game design is great game design, right? The difference here is that in Sekiro, parrying was an exact, almost rhythmic type of mechanic that was impeccably polished and precise and in Fallen Order it just isn’t. The timing isn’t very clear and seems to be different for each enemy type so it doesn’t feel nearly as good. Thankfully, you have those Force powers that go a long way to mitigating the frustration. That isn’t to say the combat isn’t good. It is. But when there is a game released this year that is doing a lot of the same things in regard to melee combat and parrying, it stands out as less-than.

Fallen Order also has a lot of platforming a la Uncharted, but that too lacks the refinement of its clear inspiration. You’ll miss many jumps that you should have landed and it seems that Respawn knew this would be happening often as there is almost no penalty for missing a jump and essentially falling to your death. Instead of a game over screen, you will almost instantly spawn back to your most recent piece of solid ground to try again with only losing a little bit of your health (how much health you lose is determined by the difficulty you chose. I played on Jedi Master so I would lose significantly more than someone playing on Story Mode). This is an unfortunate negative on the overall experience because when the platforming is working like I’m sure they intended, you can string together a pretty good run that makes you feel as agile as you should. I mean, this is the same studio responsible for the Titanfall franchise, which have some of the most fun, polished traversal mechanics in gaming. However, here instead impeccable controls, they’re merely “good enough” to play the game.

Then there are the slides. Oh, those damn slides. So many slides. For reasons I can’t even begin to fathom, Fallen Order has an almost hilarious amount of sections and areas where Cal will step on a slope of either mud or ice and slide down like he’s snowboarding. These wouldn’t be too bad if I didn’t feel like many times I was going faster than I could control and would fly right off the edge only to have to start the whole section over again. Then, for funnies, Respawn added some platforming sections to them. If I have any major gripe against this game and hope to whatever deity I have to that they never include these again, it’s these godddamn slides. They add nothing, feel gimmicky, and are all around dreadful.

It’s worth noting that there are some customization options available as you progress through the game and find in chests. Most of them are lightsaber parts to customize the look of your lightsaber, others are ponchos and outfits for Cal, paint jobs for the Mantis, and for BD. Sure you most likely won’t see much of your lightsaber during the game but it’s cool to see even a little attention to detail. My one complaint in this area is that I didn’t really care for any of Cal’s outfits. They’re just color swaps on a weak design to begin with. This is a game about a Jedi. Respawn should have included skins that made him look more like a Jedi.

Always a Padawan, Never a Master

Considering Respawn’s track record for making incredibly polished games, it’s kind of shocking how technically rough around the edges Fallen Order is. Texture pop-in galore, some sections where the frame-rate chugs for a few seconds, sometimes enemies wouldn’t spawn where they were supposed to and from my personal experience, the game crashed to the home screen three times. One time this unfortunate incident happened during the toughest boss fight in the game. If I had thought I was actually going to win that particular fight I would have been furious, but instead I laughed incredulously as it happened.

If I sound like I’m being hard on Fallen Order, it’s only because there is a great game in there that is — at best — good due to a surprising lack of refinement and polish. The story is good, using Force powers in combat is excellent, the lightsaber dueling is good, if not perfect, the Force powers really make you feel like a badass Jedi, the boss fights are varied and fun. I just wish Respawn would have lost some of the things that very clearly didn’t work (have I mentioned how much I dislike the slides?), and spent more time refining the things that did. Despite all of my gripes and the games lack of refinement, polish and true innovation, I still had fun actually playing it and consuming the story. Ultimately, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the best Star Wars game we’ve gotten since EA got the rights and probably the best Star Wars game since the original Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.

SCORE: 8/10

  • A good Star Wars story with great characters, especially BD-1
  • Fully upgraded Force abilities make combat dynamic, fun and make you feel like a Jedi badass
  • Planets feel distinct and unique from each other
  • Building your own lightsaber is cool

CONS

  • Way too many sliding sections
  • Pulls from other games but doesn’t match any of them
  • The backtracking and lack of fast travel options makes it feel like padding
  • Surprising technical issues

Modern Warfare 1v1, 3v3 Mode Planned, Cruise Missile Bug Lets You Survive It & Here’s How

Those enjoying the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight mode (and the Gunfight Tournament beta), are you interested in seeing a Modern Warfare 1v1 or 3v3 mode? If so, you’ll be getting that at some point.

This was confirmed by Modern Warfare Co-Design Director Joe Cecot over on Twitter when asked by a fan whether the studio was planning a 3v3 mode for Modern Warfare. Cecot replied that it is coming “at some point,” and even mentioned 1v1!

https://twitter.com/JoeCecot/status/1200924188573200384

That’s definitely good news, right? In other Modern Warfare news that some people might also deem as “good,” apparently, you can withstand a Cruise Missile killstreak reward simply by just looking up! This bug was discovered by Reddit user JackTaylorSC who posted a clip of it.

So , apparently looking straight up at a Cruise Missile , WITHOUT A RIOT SHIELD will save you!
byu/JackTaylorSC inmodernwarfare

Chances are, Infinity Ward might have seen this already today, and a fix for this should be incoming soon. For those who’re itching for new content, don’t forget that Season 1 drops tomorrow, and there’s a ton of free stuff included.

Death Stranding’s Online Functionality Is Both Brilliant and Helpful

Alone, on a snow-covered mountain top, Sam trudges his way through a whiteout. With near-zero visibility and only the pulse of his Odradek scanner to briefly give him a glimpse of the terrain, being outside of the Chiral Network, Death Stranding’s version of the internet, getting to your destination can be harrowing. Once you reach your destination and make the required delivery, you can use your Q-pid (basically a USB that provides areas with connection to wi-fi) to connect the recipient into the Chiral Network. And this is where the true brilliance of the game comes through.

Once connected, you see the impact being connected online — the actual internet — opens up Death Stranding’s post-apocalyptic America to other players in all manner of ways and they are all helpful and encouraging. Once you connect an area to the Chiral Network the game allows you to see other players’ structures, signs, ladders, climbing ropes, post office boxes to drop off packages other players dropped, even vehicles to help you get around faster and the roads they’ve built to drive on.

Every single aspect of the online connectivity is meant to assist others as well as yourself. That above whiteout scenario that I described. That was my experience. As soon as I connected the NPC to the Chiral Network, I saw someone had constructed a safe house where I could stay to recharge my batteries. And I don’t mean this metaphorically, either. As you progress in the game you get more and more tools to help you make the job easier and that includes exoskeleton legs that carry more weight or all-terrain “legs” that let you travel better over various surfaces and these have batteries that drain through use. Seeing a safe house or a charging station that another player has set up in just the right spot offers the kind of relief usually reserved for shortcuts in a From Software game.

Without being connected to the Chiral Network, Death Stranding’s world feels lonely.

Even signs in the game have benefits. Passing through certain signs restores your stamina. So you might find these signs at the top of a steep hill where you had to use your stamina to keep from falling over. On highways, the speed up sign gives you, well, a speed boost. Other signs give you bonus “likes.”

Related Reading:

Speaking of which, the more “likes” you get and give will connect you to more player structures in the world. At one point in the game I had to make a trek back to Lake Knot City, the main hub city for the second half of the game and I was dreading it because it was a long way to go, with a few MULE camps (MULES are NPC enemies addicted to stealing cargo who can be a royal pain in the ass if you don’t have the weapons to deal with them), and a whole lot of Timefall (the time advancing inclement weather of the game which ruins your cargo if not sprayed down with repair spray, each can of which takes up valuable cargo space), and with Timefall comes BT (Beached Things) which are the enemies from the other side that drag you into mini-boss fights if you can’t escape them. Timefall Shelters felt rarer, however, they were always helpful as the emitted the repair spray and you could pass the time in them to wait out the Timefall.

I can’t even properly describe the elation I had when I saw that the find people also playing the game in my instance created a road that leads from the Distribution Center I was at which lead all the way back to Lake Knot City. I loaded up a truck that had long-distance capabilities with all of my cargo and off I went, using the “Speed Up” signs to drive right past the MULE camps, through the Timefall, missing the BT territories in the process, right into my destination. Now I can only imagine what that trek would have been like without the help of unseen friends and fellow porters.

Perhaps the most useful tool in the entire game would be the network of zip-lines on the snowy mountain tops. I had to add my own zip-line structure to a few which means anyone else in our instance passing through the area afterward would have an even easier go of it. These zip-lines need to be within 300 meters of another zip-line structure to be used, but finding a perfect spot and a series of them can make traversal and hazards such as Timefall, BT, MULES, Terrorists (yes, this game also has terrorist enemies that will kill you) completely negligible and making your experience even better. Something not possible if you’re playing offline or ignore other people’s structures.

While the bulk of Death Stranding has a feeling of being alone, the way it uses being connected to the internet and thusly- – other players — it creates a level of cooperation that I’ve never seen before in a game.  Sure, it’s easy to dismiss Death Stranding as a walking simulator if you’re being completely reductionist, but playing this game as intended you have so many options open to you via Kojima’s brilliant strand network, you will find that maybe other humans aren’t so bad and whiteouts in a video game aren’t as scary as it seems.

Modern Warfare Season 1 Trailer Showcases the “Biggest Free Content Drop in COD History”

In case you haven’t been keeping tabs on news, Infinity Ward is set to unleash what the studio calls the “biggest free content drop in Call of Duty history” with Modern Warfare Season 1. Set to come out this Tuesday on December 3, players will get new multiplayer maps, new game modes, new weapons and lots more. Check out some of the free content in this Modern Warfare Season 1 trailer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsU9R7eVd_s&feature=youtu.be

The biggest drop of free content in Call of Duty history. Iconic maps like Crash make their return, as completely new maps are introduced. New weapons are available for your Gunsmith grinding to use across a sweep of new modes and Special Ops experiences.

Chances are, there’s going to be a new patch to accompany this new content roll out, and if we get wind of it, we’ll be sure to let people know. Note that not every free content will be out tomorrow, but rather, it’ll be released throughout the season as it progresses.

Modern Warfare Overhaul Was “Fake” According to Dev, Says He’s Gotten Death Threats From Community

Back in the first week of November, a rumor from a reliable source surfaced stating that a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare overhaul was incoming, and how the mini map would once again include red dots like in previous franchise entries, much to the dismay of a lot of Call of Duty veterans (including this guy), the Modern Warfare overhaul — or anything close to it — didn’t happen.

Over on Twitter, Co-Design Director Joe Cecot replied to a fan asking where the overhaul was, and said that it was a “fake statement” to get attention.

https://twitter.com/JoeCecot/status/1201210818785792000

While Infinity Ward didn’t roll out an overhaul patch for Modern Warfare, Senior Communications Manager Ashton Williams got the ball rolling when she tweeted how a “big” update that fans were “asking about” was set to be released, which when it did (patch 1.09), didn’t really change anything big. Once update 1.09 dropped, and it didn’t provide an overhaul, things got very messy on the Modern Warfare subreddit. Members of the community kept posting threads asking about the overhaul, and it seems even the devs themselves didn’t get spared, and have appeared to be less active in answering the community’s concerns.

In one particular thread, Cecot mentioned how things can be “rough” in the Modern Warfare subreddit, and how he even got PMs (private messages) on how his children should die “horrible deaths.” He also mentioned how he’s spending less time in the subreddit as well.

While it’s understandable that players are passionate about a game, it’s never OK to send death threats or personal attacks to anyone (developers, other players, etc.) over something as trivial as a video game. Let’s hope this sort of harassment doesn’t continue. I mean, worst case scenario, and you hate the game, maybe just stop playing it? Sending death threats or personal attacks are never OK in any context.

Battlefield 5 Next Patch Planned for Next Week Along With Private Games Details

In case you didn’t know, DICE is already working on the next Battlefield 5 patch. While we have an idea of what’s going to be in it, DICE has semi-confirmed that the Battlefield 5 next patch will hit next week!

I say “semi-confirmed” as DICE themselves can’t confirm it just yet given how certification and whatnot works when it comes to these things. This was announced by Battlefield Community Manager Jeff Braddock where he also mentioned how the Community Games (Private Games) will be detailed next week, too — at least that’s the plan.

Next Battlefield V Update

Teams are finalizing the build and going through approval processes, so we’ll have a locked date once they’re complete.

Community Games Blog & Community Broadcast

Working through approvals for the content of the Broadcast and Blog. Current delivery date is December 4th (if not sooner, based on approvals).

Once we know more details this coming week, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. Note that this will likely be our last Battlefield 5 patch for 2019, but 2020 is just a few short weeks away, and we’ll definitely get something then.

Check Out This PS5 Devkit Image That Shows 2 Units Sitting Together

While we already posted what an alleged PS5 devkit (development kit) looks like back in October, we now have a clearer view of the unit! Shown below is a PS5 devkit image that shows two units sitting comfortably next to each other.

Check out the PS5 devkit image below (courtesy of PS5 subreddit user praystationbattleroy):

As you can clearly see, it even has a DualShock 4 controller plugged in, which is most likely substituting for the PS5 controller until Sony is ready to unveil it. If you find the PS5 devkit ugly, remember that most devkits look completely different from the actual retail products. For developers/studios, Sony doesn’t really need to make it look appealing when sitting on desks or shelves, and focuses more on functionality than aesthetics (check out the vent on that bad boy!).

Will the PS5 retail unit look similar to this? I highly doubt it, but given a choice, would you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

The PS5 will launch this holiday 2020.

Modern Warfare: COD Pro Claims Infinity Ward Lied About Working Closely With Pros Regarding Dead Silence, CTF Mode Leaked

Just a few days ago, we reported on how a YouTuber asked Infinity Ward about certain Call of Duty: Modern Warfare hot topics within the community. One of these said topics is how the Dead Silence Field Upgrade is being tweaked, with Infinity stating they they’re working with pro gamers in order to balance it.

Well, one COD pro has gone on record to say that Infinity Ward hasn’t been working with pros and that he says it’s an “absolute lie.” This was mentioned by Los Angeles Guerrillas captain Patrick “Aches” Price, who says that while Infinity Ward will “probably” fix it (footsteps), they (Infinity Ward) have not/are not currently working closely with any pro player.

https://twitter.com/ACHES/status/1199514677589561344?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1199514677589561344&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fs9e.github.io%2Fiframe%2F2%2Ftwitter.min.html%231199514677589561344

Just so you know, that quote regarding Dead Silence and working closely with pros is an absolute lie. Unbelievable. They probably will fix it (because they legit have to it‘ makes the game nearly unplayable) but they have not / aren’t currently working “closely” with any pro LMAO

Important to note that Infinity Ward might be working with other pros regarding this, but given Price’s declarative statement (and he’s not exactly a small fish, either), we can’t say for sure. That said, someone tagged Modern Warfare Co-Design Director of Multiplayer Joe Cecot in the Twitter convo, and he didn’t jump in to say this — or anything else — too.

In more positive Modern Warfare news, the game’s Records has seemingly confirmed — and leaked — the existence of a Modern Warfare Capture the Flag (CTF) mode! This can be spotted now via the Records part of the Barracks, but the mode itself isn’t live yet. Most likely, it’ll be part of the stuff rolled out as part of Season 1. Check out an image of it below (via Reddit user tomereko02):

What do you make of Aches’ statement about Infinity Ward and working closely with pros? Or you’re not surprised? Let us know in the comments.

  2. Even if a topic wasn’t ranked as highly as others, we will still provide updates on its status in this article and in the future when relevant.

It’s Black Friday, everyone! If you’re not banging your bodies against other shoppers for the best deals, and chose to rather spend it gaming, you might want to log in to The Division 2! Ubisoft is doing a The Division 2 Black Friday giveaway in the shape of Contaminated Supplies!

Running from November 28 to December 5, 2019, The Division 2 players just need to log in, and you don’t need to go to the Dark Zone, or do anything special in order to obtain it. In case you’re wondering, Ubisoft has confirmed that this is NOT the holiday event promised by the developers, and is something completely different.

Also, take no that “normal precautions” apply according to Ubisoft, since these supplies are contaminated and all.

Rainbow Six Siege Designer Notes Y4S4

While we already posted the patch notes for Operation Shifting Tides when it’s out of the PTS (Private Test Server), Ubisoft has released the Rainbow Six Siege designer notes Y4S4 (Year 4 Season 4). We get an explanation on the M-12 shotgun changes, Operator balancing explanations, and lots more.

Rainbow Six Siege designer notes Y4S4:

WEAPON BALANCING:

M-12 SMG

  • Increased M-12 SMG damage from 36 to 40

The M-12 is currently one of the lowest damages and slowest firing SMGs in the game. With most players favouring the Luison, there is currently very little reason to select the M-12. Our Devs are looking to give the M-12 a fairer chance during duels.

FO-12 SHOTGUN

  • Decreased damage dealt beyond 10 meters
  • Spread increase and accuracy reduction

Ela’s FO-12 is very strong and frustrating, mostly for console players, but on PC as well. She is targeted by Operator bans by console players and when she is not, her pick rate is very high.  This weapon should be more in line with other semi-automatic shotguns. We also want to reduce her ban rate and how frustrating Ela can be.

SASG-12

  • Spread increase and accuracy reduction

The SASG-12 shares many similarities with the FO-12. A spread increase when shooting rapidly as well as an increased recoil will make it a bit less easy to control.

BOSG 12.2

  • #BOSGACOG is here

Adding the ACOG to 707th SMB Operator shotgun was mostly motivated by the low performance of the weapon. Even if part of the community was also looking forward to the addition of the ACOG, it remained a pure balancing decision. This new sight should not affect the overall performance of this weapon.

As usual, we will monitor its performance for Dokkaebi and Vigil and adjust whatever is necessary.

OPERATOR BALANCING:

GLAZ

  • Increased Glaz’s scope highlight base intensity

[2019-11-21] DNGlaz tweak

We are giving our Russian sniper a bit more love to help him spot enemies even when the scope is not charged, thus making his scope useful in more situations.

KAID

  • Increased Kaid’s Electroclaw radius from 0.75m to 1.3m
  • Replaced Impact Grenades with Barbed Wire

Kaid’s gadget leaves ample room for creativity. The feedback we gathered indicated that Electroclaws added variety to many situations but needed an extra edge.

[2019-11-21]DN_Kaid

A wider radius instead of a third Electroclaw is more comfortable for attackers to handle, as it won’t require any extra gadgets to counter. The activation speed still allows for tricking and the return of his barbed wires should lead to more creative setups.

Kaid’s loadout has gone through several adjustments. This more cautious and step by step approach gives enough time to our community to explore all its potential.

WARDEN

  • Replaced Barbed Wire with C4

We want to increase his potential as a denial Defender for defuser plays. The C4 should give him more opportunity to defend a bomb site without exposing himself.

In addition, we are still considering other options to make sure Warden is relevant, we will tell you more when ready.

JACKAL

Jackal’s rework will be included in Operation Shifting Tides. As the most banned attacker, Jackal is a high source of frustration for many players and one of our top balancing priorities.

[2019-10-21] Y4S3.3 Jackal Pings

There’s also a change to how limb penetration works, which you can check out here. Once this patch is out officially, we’ll let our readers know.

Nostalgia Rules: Old School Gaming Continues to Make a Comeback

Perhaps it’s the convoluted pre-order schemes, the microtransactions being brought in for or after launch, or even the updates required after full release, but many of us players have once again found a fondness for the games of old.

There’s no doubt that there have been some grand and intriguing titles this year, such as Metro Exodus, The Outer Worlds, Death Stranding, Pokémon Sword and Shield, Planet Zoo, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, and many more, but sometimes, despite them being a thing of the past, we crave old gaming – a fact that game developers know all too well.

Not only are games bringing in retro aspects and using them as main selling points, but developers are also actively reviving old games, hoping that our nostalgia brings us in, while others remake the games entirely for a new age of technology. Some will say that this phase of reboots isn’t helping to progress the industry, but from what’s been done so far, few older gamers will be complaining.

Bringing in some throwback gaming

All gamers know that every four years, the greatest athletes in the world meet in one tremendous city to compete in the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. This year, in preparation for the 2020 Games, Mario, Sonic, and all of their franchises’ biggest characters will be going for gold in Tokyo.

In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, there are ten events in retro 2D form. It’s a kickback to the Tokyo 1964 events, featuring events like the 100m, long jump, kayak, judo, and shooting in glorious old school graphics. Even the menu, when you slide from the Tokyo 2020 to Tokyo 1964 section, changes from modern to classic chimes in its sounds. As seen above, it’s become a major selling point for the Nintendo title.

Reviving an old and traditional game

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone whose parents or grandparents didn’t play bingo at a local hall. However, as time has gone on and entertainment has become increasingly internet-centric, those old days of dotting papers nearly went extinct. While bingo halls are trying to make a resurgence, the real comeback of the traditional game has occurred in the, today, far more relevant online space.

That said, it wasn’t a simple case of putting the base game on a website. Now, the best online bingo features a huge range of themed and varied bingo games, including Rainbow Riches, Diamond Room, and Age of the Gods, all with differing jackpots and ticket prices. Going digital has enabled this old school game to bring back those who enjoy the classic game simply due to it now being convenient and diverse.

Giving the old games a tune-up and a lick of paint

If you’re lucky enough to still own a working version of an old console and have the adaptors required to operate it on a modern TV, it can be great fun to jump back into one of your favourite classic games. But at some point, while it’s still enjoyable, you will notice the incredible downgrade in graphics and gameplay mechanics when compared to modern masterpieces.

Knowing that true greats of the old consoles retain their audiences, developers have been more and more eager to remaster their titles of the past. In 2019 alone, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, MediEvil, and Resident Evil 2 have been remastered and placed on the shelves to much fanfare. Resident Evil 2, in particular, did very well with critics, earning an unprecedented 91/100 aggregated review score. It was updated graphically, and any of the elements that hindered gameplay in the original version were either ironed-out or recreated.

For as long as we hold fond memories of old games, developers will continue to seek ways of bringing them back for us to enjoy – and to make them a bit of cash.

Report: New Batman Game Set to Be Revealed at The Game Awards

After numerous rumors pertaining to a potential new Batman game by Warner Bros., it seems we might (operative here is might) finally be hearing about it at this December’s The Game Awards. Now, for those hoping it’ll be a new Rocksteady Studios game, that allegely won’t be the case, and this new Batman game will instead be developed by WB Games Montreal, which is the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins.

This new report surfaced via the YouTube channel SLCMOF, which is the same channel that leaked the cancelled Batman game starring Damian Wayne. Not only that, but this claim has also been backed by The Arkham Channel, which notes that the source for this is indeed legit.

As you can see from the tweet, more will be revealed tomorrow. To further add validity to this rumor, WB Games Montreal teased something Batman related back in September, though nothing came out of it — at least so far. Aside from that info, nothing is known so far. That said, The Game Awards has been known to spring a megaton announcement or two, and something of this caliber wouldn’t be out of place being announced there.

Could this new Batman game be connected to the Court of Owls as was teased earlier this year? We’ll know for sure if and when this new Batman game is announced at The Game Awards which is set to air this December 12, 2019.
