GTA 6: Rockstar Boss Thinks It Would Upset People “Whatever We Did,” and “Thankful” They’re Not Releasing in This Time

While Rockstar Games latest title, Red Dead Redemption 2, is set for release this coming Friday, some people are already looking forward to the next installment in the highly successful Grand Theft Auto franchise. If you’re one of them, you might be in for a long wait.

In an interview with GQ, Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser talks about GTA 6 and how he’s thankful it’s not releasing during the “age of Trump” — obviously referring to current US President, Donald Trump.

It’s really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did. Both intense liberal progression and intense conservatism are both very militant, and very angry. It is scary but it’s also strange, and yet both of them seem occasionally to veer towards the absurd. It’s hard to satirise for those reasons. Some of the stuff you see is straightforwardly beyond satire. It would be out of date within two minutes, everything is changing so fast.

Given how easily offended people are nowadays, and with Rockstar Games’ penchant for including controversial stuff in its games, Houser might have a point. Still, we all know GTA 6 is an inevitability, right? We’ll know for sure how far Rockstar wants to push the envelope of controversy once it’s announced, which isn’t anytime soon.

As for Rockstar’s upcoming game, check our our Red Dead Redemption 2 hub for the latest news for the upcoming western epic.

Top 5 Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Best Guns in Multiplayer and Tips on How to Use Them

With every Call of Duty release, the fan base naturally gravitates toward a certain set of weapons that are either overpowered, easy to use, or just plain broken. The same is happening now in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. In this new feature, we take a look and list down the top five Black Ops 4 best guns regardless of gun type/class.

Important to note: the five guns listed are based on multiplayer and not Blackout, since the battle royale mode tweaks the weapons a bit to make it more battle royale-friendly. Also, the list is highly subjective, and if you don’t find the gun you’re using or you think one weapon is better than the next, that’s fine. But the five listed are the ones you’ll see get the most use in multiplayer.

Related Reading:

Another thing to remember: guns in mutliplayer games are always tweaked, re-balanced, and tweaked some more. So don’t be surprised if one of the guns in the list becomes a non-factor after a few patches have dropped. And yes, it’s full of assault rifles given that’s the main weapon everyone is using now and for good reason.

ICR-7

Unlock Level: 5

Why is it top-tier: It’s a gun that’s unlocked very early, with good rate of fire, accuracy and minimal recoil. Once you slap in Grip I and Grip II, it becomes a laser. There’s a reason why almost everyone is using this.

Recommended attachments: Reflex sight,Grip I + Grip II, Quickdraw

How to use effectively: Basically anywhere. Short, mid and long range engagements are fine with the ICR-7. Add in the two grips to prevent any sort of flinch (yes, that’s correct) and for almost zero recoil.

Gun Stats:

Weapon Type Assault Rifle
Range 10 /20
Damage 7 /20
Fire Rate 12 /20
Accuracy 12 /20
Magazine 3
Mag. Size 35

Titan

Unlock Level: 1

Why is it top-tier: With two extended mags equipped, you literally have hundreds of bullets at your disposal before needing to reload. It has low to moderate recoil, and can outgun assault rifles, sniper rifles and other guns in long ranges.

Recommended attachments: Reflex sight, Holographic or NVIR for scopes, Extended Mags I + Extended Mags II, Stock (you can substitute one of the Extended Mags to Quickdraw if you don’t need that much ammo).

How to use effectively: Find a spot, hunker down and mow everyone that crosses your sights! If you find that maps like Jungle, Morocco, Icebreaker have poor visibility with the ranges, slap the NVIR and go to town.

Gun Stats:

Weapon Type Light Machingun
Range 14 /20
Damage 9 /20
Fire Rate 9 /20
Accuracy 8 /20
Magazine 3
Mag. Size 75

Swordfish

Unlock Level: 55

Why is it top-tier: It’s a souped up version of the ABR tactical rifle. It’s OK in its current form, but using the operator mod will add the “Penta Burst” feature which will mean that the four-round burst becomes an eight-round burst and will eliminate hostiles in one burst when it hits.

Recommended attachments: Reflex or Holographic sight, Hybrid mags and the Penta Burst operator mod. You can also add High Caliber I and II, but with the operator mod equipped, you’ll drop enemies with one burst regardless of it.

How to use effectively: Engage in long and mid-range, don’t rush in without knowing where the enemies are since one miss of the burst leaves you open without any chances to retaliate. It’s also available as one of the default classes, so you don’t even need to wait until level 55 to practice with it.

Gun Stats:

Weapon Type Tactical Rifle
Range 10 /20
Damage 7 /20
Fire Rate 13 /20
Accuracy 14 /20
Magazine 3
Mag. Size 36

Rampart 17

Unlock Level: 10

Why is it top-tier: It’s Black Ops 4’s version of the SCAR in past Call of Duty games (Man O’ War in BO3), and packs a punch! Highest damage in the assault rifle class, has moderate recoil and is considered top tier once you equip High Caliber I and II on it since it’ll add extra damage to bullets that hit on the head and upper chest areas.

Recommended attachments: Reflex or Holographic sight, High Caliber I & II are a must, Fast Mags

How to use effectively: Short to mid range engagements are what you’re looking for. Don’t try to outgun an SMG user or someone who’s gun has a higher rate of fire. Use short bursts when firing given it has more recoil than the ICR-7. Use your added damage to your advantage and always aim for the upper chest or head.

Gun Stats:

Weapon Type Assault Rifle
Range 7 /20
Damage 9 /20
Fire Rate 8 /20
Accuracy 8 /20
Magazine 3
Mag. Size 30

Maddox RFB

Unlock Level: 49

Why is it top-tier: It has the fastest rate of fire for all assault rifles, and the recoil is manageable. You can go toe-to-toe with most SMG users even head-on with this with its high rate of fire. Its magazine size is at a default 40, which makes it ideal for engaging with multiple enemies at once (though it’s not recommended).

Recommended attachments: ELO sight, Fast Mags, Stock, Quickdraw. If you’re a chronic reloader (meaning you hit reload after every kill or spray), attach Fast Mags I & II to cut your reload time to about a second.

How to use effectively: Quite possibly the best gun in the entire game to date, the Maddox can engage in short and medium ranges, and if you’re good enough even in long ranges too (though it’s not recommended due to the recoil, and damage drop off). There’s a reason this gun is unlocked very late in the game. Don’t use the operator mod since it chews up bullets way too fast, adds a ton of recoil, and it’s a waste of Wildcard space.

Gun Stats:

Weapon Type Assault Rifle
Range 7 /20
Damage 6 /20
Fire Rate 14 /20
Accuracy 8 /20
Magazine 3
Mag. Size 30

That about wraps it up! Remember: it’s how you use the gun, since the best gun in the entire game can’t save you if your aiming is crap.

DICE Unveils Battlefield V Roadmap for Tides of War, Battle Royale Coming March 2019

Just as DICE promised, this week Battlefield V fans will finally get to see some more info on Tides of War! In a new blog post on the official Battlefield website, DICE not only revealed the roadmap for Battlefield V’s post-launch events and content, but a detailed description of each event too!

Want the super quick version? Here’s the breakdown of chapter names and dates:

  • Chapter 1: Overture (Early December – January)
  • Chapter 2: Lighting Strikes (January to March)
  • Chapter 3: Trial by Fire (Starting in March)

According to DICE, each chapter of Tides of War will “evolve and expand the battlefield.”

Evolving Gameplay: Thrilling ways of experiencing Battlefield V will be added through fresh Fortifications, and Reinforcements. Iconic WW2 hardware like vehicles, weapons, and gadgets will also be added.

New Experiences: Play through a new single-player War Story dubbed The Last Tiger, co-op with a friend in Combined Arms, do battle royale the Battlefield way in Firestorm, experience new game modes and Grand Operations, and hone your skills in the upcoming Practice Range.

An Expanding World: You’ll get to deploy on fresh maps as chapters bring new battlefields. Shortly after launch, this starts with Belgium and the Panzerstorm map with tank-focused gameplay, expanding to the battlefields of Greece – and the journey will continue.

Game Improvements: Quality of life updates will regularly improve Battlefield V, fix bugs, and balance the game.

CHAPTER 1: OVERTURE (EARLY DECEMBER – JANUARY)

Two weeks after Battlefield V launches, DICE will kick off Tides of War and its first chapter.

Here’s what to expect:

Chapter 1: Overture event and Panzerstorm map is released:  On this tank-focused arena, you’ll roll across ridges, ditches, and elevated roads with a massive force of armor, carving a path of destruction through the countryside.

The Last Tiger single-player DLC is released

Initial iteration of Practice Range for Battlefield V will be released.

Vehicle customization will be rolled out.

According to DICE, the Overture brings weekly events and rewards that will “keep highlighting the finer details of Battlefield V gameplay.” Each event will bring a series of challenges that lets you earn new Tides of War rewards. Each time you level up your chapter rank, you’ll earn rewards.

CHAPTER 2: LIGHTNING STRIKES (JANUARY – MARCH)

Here’s what to expect:

Chapter two: Lightning Strikes event starts, and this one will focus on vehicular warfare and rapid infantry movement.

The co-op mode Combined Arms will be released. It will allow a squad of four to challenge AI in several maps.

Two new game modes will be added: a revamped Rush mode (no more MCOM stations, it’ll be replaced by bombs), and Squad Conquest.

Like in Overture, expect weekly rewards and events with chapter rank-up goodies.

CHAPTER 3: TRIAL BY FIRE (STARTING IN MARCH)

Battle Royale will make its way to Battlefield V!

Firestorm: During spring, DICE and Criterion start the fire with Battlefield V’s battle royale experience. Firestorm elevates the mode by bringing in the best of what Battlefield is known for. Mix a shrinking playing field with trademark Battlefieldelements such as team play, powerful vehicles, and destruction, and you get many unique Battlefield moments coming your way.

Greece map is rolled out: Join a massive aerial invasion along the Cretan coast. The Allied side is desperate to cling to the island under attack by the Axis, attempting to break through the British defenses air superiority and paratroops. This map brings all-out war defined by a power struggle between tank control versus air superiority.

According to DICE, beyond the first three chapters announced, even “more experiences” will come your way like new locations, new weapons, new vehicles and more!

Battlefield V Dev Gets Banned in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for Being Too Good

How do you know if you’re too good at multiplayer shooters? Is it when you get messages from random people that you’re a piece of shit? You’re a “camping” piece of shit? You’re a cheater? What if you got banned by the game? Yeah, that might be it, right? That’s exactly what happened to DICE Core Gameplay Designer Florian Le Bihan.

Over on Twitter, Florian posted a screenshot of his profile being banned by the Treyarch, and needing to sign in to another profile to log in.

Want to see how good Florian is? You can with his Black Ops 4 montage! Check it out below.

Florian also wrote a plea to Treyarch to un-ban him, and to “Accept this as a token of my appreciation towards your game (please unban). P.S: Sorry for the bad edit, I know.”

This might be the ultimate compliment if you’re a player, right? In other Black Ops 4 news, Treyarch has rolled out a network configuration update which in theory should make the servers better. There’s also a Mercenary mode live for the game now too, which means no parties allowed.

As for Battlefield V, the console and PC server tick rates have been revealed yesterday and they’re good news for most players.

Star Wars Battlefront II General Grievous Release Date Set for Next Week

Remember when we posted that General Grievous will make his way out to Star Wars Battlefront II sometime in October? EA has sent a press release out today, and we now know the exact date when the Star Wars Battlefront 2 General Grievous release date will be, and it’s October 30!

Check out General Grievous’ backstory and abilities listed below.

Becoming One of the Galaxy’s Most Notorious Villains

A towering Kaleesh, the mere presence of General Grievous caused unease amongst his enemies.

After sustaining a critical injury, Grievous’ body was transformed, and he was later taught the art of lightsaber combat by the Sith Lord Count Dooku – becoming a true embodiment of terror.

He was the Supreme Commander for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, or Separatist Alliance, in the Clone Wars against the Galactic Republic. Throughout the war, he led the droid armies in battles across the galaxy and encountered the Jedi and General Obi-Wan Kenobi numerous times. He escaped almost as many. Fostered through their clashes, General Grievous formed an arch nemesis relation to the Jedi Master.

How General Grievous Plays in Star Wars Battlefront™ II

In Star Wars Battlefront II, General Grievous is designed to instigate fear and feel like an overwhelming opponent. His body frame is among the largest compared to any other character in the game, and he engages in combat with two – sometimes four – lightsabers.

For base attack sequences, General Grievous swings two lightsabers. While on defense, he can also use the same to deflect enemy sabers and blaster shots.

But the skilled fighter was also known for his signature moves featuring no less than four Jedi weapons, which were all conquered from their previous owners (we’ve modeled his lightsabers after their appearances in Star Wars™: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith™). In Star Wars Battlefront II, we’ve transferred a couple of those moves to his Abilities.

First, we have Thrust Surge. This one was referenced from an encounter between Grievous and Obi-Wan in the Clone Wars series. The attack thrusts Grievous forward with all four lightsabers in a stabbing motion, dealing damage and throwing the target to the ground.

The second is Unrelenting Advance. As seen in another battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Revenge of the Sith, Grievous forms a spinning lightsaber wall in front of him, with sparks igniting from the floor, as he advances like a horrifying machine. Going into Unrelenting Advance, General Grievous blocks all frontal attacks while dealing damage to anyone foolishly standing in his way.

Speaking to his strategist side, General Grievous’ Claw Rush Ability lets him flee the scene in the blink of an eye. Once activated, he goes down on all six limbs and rushes forward, damaging and pushing opponents out of his path. An unsettling sight for enemies to behold – and highly efficient when in urgent need of an escape route.

DICE has also mentioned that another “soon-to-be-announced General Grievous appearance will come on November 28 with the Battle of Genosis update, which will also be the arrival of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the planet of Geonsis to Galactic Assault.

You can read up on Star Wars Battlefront II’s roadmap for this year and early next year right here.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Game Settings Update Include “First Phase’ of Network Configuration, Black Market Earn Rate Tweaks

While we reported that the Mercenary Capture Moshpit playlist is now available in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, it seems the server-side update has more in it than just that. Treyarch has listed the Black Ops 4 game settings update and it should please fans.

According to Treyarch, as of today, the studio has completed the “first phase” of planned changes to network configuration in targeted locations. Once monitoring is finished to ensure overall performance is running up to par, the studio will then begin the next phase of network updates. No word on whether this means 60hz servers are now running for some regions/areas, or if it’s still at 20hz and they did something to make it more manageable.

    • Fixed memory leak issues that eventually caused the game to close with an error.

We’re also currently tracking the following recent topics to address in future updates:

  • Blackout Audio Adjustments
    • We are making several updates to audio in Blackout based upon our testing and feedback from the community to deliver the soundscape our players expect in Blackout. Look for this update to drop in the next week.
  • Blackout Quads Performance
    • We’re continuing to investigate occasional hitches in performance in Blackout Quads playlists, particularly on Xbox One. As we’ve mentioned before, though this hasn’t proven easily replicable during testing, we’re committed to tracking down the cause and squashing it.
  • Zombies Hosts Ending Matches
    • We’re aware that matches in Zombies have been ending when the host leaves the game, and we’re planning a future update to address this. Thanks for your patience as we work on the solution.

Make sure to check out our review of Black Ops 4 to see what we make of it as a whole. We also posted an XP table to let you know how much XP you need to earn from levels 1-55.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Mercenary Mode (No Parties Allowed) Are Now Live on All Platforms

Rolled out via a server-side hotfix, Treyarch has added a new playlist to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and it’s one I’ve been waiting for since launch! It’s a Black Ops 4 Mercenary mode where no parties are allowed! To be specific, it’s a “Mercenary Capture Moshpit,” which means it’s a mish-mash of objective-based modes like Domination, Hardpoint and more.

Just back out to the lobby, wait for an update to kick in, and that’s it! You’ll see the Mercenary Capture Moshpit playlist as the featured playlist!

In other Black Ops 4 news, Treyarch has addressed the server tick rate issue, and says that the servers will be improved though with no definite timeline given.

We also published our in-depth review where we talk about the multiplayer modes failings, and what it did right. Finally, you can check out how the XP gain rate works in this handy table.

Anyone jumping in to try this out? Now you won’t be ambushed by squads of people all lining up to take a crack at your noggin!

PS4 Change Online ID Invite Preview Invites Being Sent Out by Sony

Just a few weeks ago, we reported that Sony was going to include the PS4 change online ID feature in an upcoming firmware testing preview. Well, it seems invites are going out now!

Over on Reddit, user JThrillington posted the PS4 change online ID invite he received, and yes, it seems he threw caution to the wind and completely disregarded the confidentiality message.

While it’s cool to be a part of this preview, I don’t think I’d risk my PS4 by being a firmware beta tester. That’s just me though. If your PSN username is too “extreme’ or “edgelord-y” then I gather you’ll want to change those ASAP, and being part of this early preview is something you’ve been looking forward to for years. Make sure to check your spam folder as well just to be sure.

In other PlayStation news, go check out the new games available on PSN this week right here. Sony’s annual Sale of the Dead is also on-going so check that out too.

Battlefield 5 Server Tick Rates for Consoles & PC Revealed, Will Be “Improved” Says DICE

With people being outraged in finding out that the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 servers were at a tick rate of just 20hz even though the beta was at 60hz, some might be wondering what it’s closest rival, Battlefield V, will run at at launch. Well, there’s (semi) good news regarding the Battlefield V server tick rates.

Over on Twitter, DICE Multiplayer Producer David Sirland confirmed that the Battlefield V serer tick rates will be at 30hz on consoles (PS4, Xbox One), and 60hz on PC, but the studio will invest in improving it.

This is good news, right? At least DICE has already mentioned what it is, and hopefully, no bait and switch will be made at launch. It’s also good that the studio has plans to improve it too.

Are you OK with the Battlefield V server tick rates? How long do you think it will take before DICE improves it upon release?

In other Battlefield V news, DICE will talk about Tides of War info all throughout this week! There’s also going to be an update regarding the “progression system and economy” of Battlefield V.

In case you’re curious, here’s what the Prestige emblems look like. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Review – Innovating Familiarity

While Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been available for over a week now, we decided to hold off on publishing a review ASAP given we wanted to test and experience the game in real world conditions, and also, to know exactly what Treyarch has planned for microtransactions and the like, since that will affect how the game is played as a whole.

Now that we know the Black Market is returning, and we also know some of the little quirks the game has, we’re in a much better position to judge the game fairly. With Black Ops 4 now ditching the campaign portion of the game in place of multiplayer, Blackout, and Treyarch’s trademarked Zombies mode, does this version of Call of Duty get KIA (killed in action), or does it shake things up for the better?

No Campaign, No Problem

First off, I admit that I’m not a big fan of Call of Duty single-player campaigns, and almost always dive into multiplayer first. Having said that, I did not miss any sort of dedicated campaign for Black Ops 4. there are the Specalist HQ storylines, which act more of a tutorial than anything else. Will people miss the campaign and does it shoot down the value of this version of Call of Duty? It depends on who you ask, but so far, the people that I’ve talked to seem to be OK with this change, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this move is taken as the new norm for the franchise moving forward.

In place of the campaign, we have a rather meaty multiplayer mode with 14 maps out of the gate (with more coming in later for free confirmed), a super impressive battle royale mode (more on this later), and the most robust Zombies mode Treyarch has ever done. Overall it’s a fair trade-off. Just make sure you have PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold when buying Black Ops 4, as almost all the modes require it.

Squish and Splat

With Treyarch’s focus now solely into the multiplayer, Blackout and Zombies portion of the game, the studio has refined the gunplay into near perfection (the servers are a different topic altogether). Each bullet hit, each headshot has a satisfying thud and splat sound, which is accompanied by a more grounded movement system. Yes, you can still jump, and slide, but you won’t be able to wall-run, do double jumps or any of the norms with futuristic shooters. Most gunfights are based on gun skill, map knowledge, and more often than not, Specialist abilities.

In case you haven’t been keeping tabs, Black Ops 4 brings back the Specialist characters from Black Ops 3, and added a few more. This time, each Specialist has two abilities, and how effective you are in using these abilities will be the deciding factor whether you win or lose.

Thes Specialists also adds another layer of strategy instead of just choosing which guns and perks to use. It’s deep enough that you’ll want to learn and understand how each Specialist behaves, but not too deep that you’ll have to start mapping out builds and such like in a MOBA game.

Perfectly Balanced…

While some might not be a fan of Treyarch’s Specialist system or even the inclusion of them, the studio has found the right balance for each, and no one feels overpowered to the rest. The same can be said for the guns. Sure, some will gravitate towards certain guns that they feel comfortable using, and you’ll hear players shouting on social media that X gun is overpowered, but that’s the thing: almost every gun is overpowered (OP) save for a few, which means Treyarch did a fine line in balancing weapons, and making sure they all get enough love from the community. Even gadgets are in the same boat as well. In this version of COD, there’s no grenade spam since a frag grenade will eat up  a Specialist ability slot, which isn’t good enough for a trade off for most people.

Another thing that’s balanced are the maps, which once again adhere to Treyarch’s three-lane rule for better or for worse. Each map, even the one I hate the most (Icebreaker), has good plotting and passage ways, and each of the 14 launch maps are diverse in their own right, which means you’ll be able to play on each without feeling fatigued.

It’s plainly obvious that Treyarch has learned a ton from its previous Call of Duty titles, and Black Ops 4 is the culmination of it all.

Battle Royale Royalty

Of course, you can’t talk about Black Ops 4 without mentioning the game’s battle royale mode, Blackout. Right out of the gate, you might not be able to not compare it to PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) and that’s fine. What’s honestly shocking here is, it beats PUBG at its own game! Blackout is a far more tighter, more polished version of PUBG, at least from what we’ve played so far.

Another interesting bit about Blackout? Guns behave differently in the mode compared to their multiplayer versions. In Blackout, there’s bullet-drop, which means you have to lead your shots more. Perks, items and other stuff are handled differently too, which is understandable given how different the two modes play.

Needless to say, Blackout is such an amazing mode for battle royale fans, that I wouldn’t be surprised if this got splintered off on its own. It’s so good in fact, that it might cannibalize the player base of the multiplayer. Granted, you need to be a fan of battle royale in the first place to appreciate Blackout. If you aren’t a fan of the “jump in, hunt for weapons and gear, take out enemies and be the last man standing” formula of battle royale, I doubt Blackout will change your mind.

More Brains, More Everything!

As for Treyarch’s trademarked Zombies mode, it’s back and better than ever before! I’ll admit, I’m not a big fan of Zombies mode in Call of Duty games, but given how Treyarch started this whole trend and has been working on it for 10 years, it’s not surprising that they’ve mastered it.

Big change out of the gate for Black Ops 4’s Zombies mode is the list of available maps that are available at launch are now hiked up to three! Expect Easter eggs, and the “IX” which is an odd, but welcome zombie mode challenge that pits you gladiator style against hordes of the undead with your crew. Expect bosses, and even animals to make their way inside the ring!

Cracked Shield

While there’s a lot of praise to be heaped unto Black Ops 4, it’s not without issues. In our review, we wanted to play and write about the experience fans are getting, and in doing this, we’ve uncovered a few cracks in Black Ops 4’s armor.

First off, the matchmaking is, for some reason, a bit odd. It will more often than not, put you into matches that are almost over, halfway done, or out of reach. Worse of all? Finishing it or quitting out will count as a loss on your W/L record! Nope, not kidding. Granted, this can be changed easily by Treyarch, and I suspect it will be changed very soon, but it’s an annoying problem given how BO3 didn’t touch your win-loss stats for joining a game mid match.

Another thing to gripe about are servers. Just this weekend, we published a report that revealed that Black Ops 4’s servers are running in just 20hz, and not in 60hz as it was in the beta! This means that hit registration is off sometimes, which messes with the fantastic gunplay Treyarch has developed. Thankfully, Treyarch has acknowledged it, and confirmed that the studio will improve the performance, so this shouldn’t be an issue very soon.

One more issue we have a problem with is how prevalent “peeker’s advantage” is in Black Ops 4. If you notice you die even though you think you got the drop on someone, or if it looks like they saw you first, well, they just might have and here’s proof of it.

Thankfully for Treyarch, most of Black Ops 4’s problems are things that can be remedied by a patch. And given the studio’s reputation for supporting its games, we’re not expecting anything less.

black ops 4 update

Report for Duty and Given Them Hell

Even with a list of complaints about matchmaking, servers and the like, the important thing here is: Black Ops 4 remains FUN to play. You might rage at some of the technical issues, or even some of Treyarch’s gameplay design decisions, but you will want to continue playing it, which is a testament to how good of a product Black Ops 4 is as a whole.

While some people might miss the game’s campaign, Treyarch has proven that it’s not needed for a full $60 game, and you won’t feel cheated out of your money, either. Treyarch is the numero uno Call of Duty developer, and seems to be a step ahead of everyone else when it comes to innovating just enough, but still maintaining that Call of Duty formula that fans know and love.

Simply put, Black Ops 4 hits the target straight on the chest, and you’ll want to line up more shots again, and again, and again.

Score: 8.5/10

Pros:

  • Fantastic gunplay
  • Guns and Specialists are balanced enough out of the gate
  • Blackout is the real deal!
  • Changes from the Call of Duty formula works in its favor

Cons:

  • Peeker’s advantage is back and in a big way
  • Matchmaking is a little weird given it might or might not be SBMM (skill based matchmaking)
  • Black Ops 4 Season Pass has a chance to muck all the balance up
